Yummmmmm! My boyfriend’s dad gave me some of that tea when I was sick, and it was wonderful! Feel better soon ๐
Theresa says
I don’t know if Organic Throat Coat is effective against Throat Leprosy, which is _clearly_ what you are suffering from according to WebMD. ๐
Kathy says
Hahaha!! My son texted me and told me according to his symptoms he needs the have his ovaries checked.
Mary Beth says
Oh Thank gods. <3
Hope you heal and get restive sleep soonest.
Jen says
Good choice. We drown our throat germs with this at once. We add honey ?
Shiloh Gibson says
I found that when I was working at a health insurance call center. For years, I would lose my voice. I worked at a Disney call center and my coworkers would call me Ariel. It got so bad that it could last for a month. Now, if I drink the throat coat when the throat tickle starts, I usually keep my voice or I lose it for only a day or two.
Tink says
Never heard of it, but I don’t usually have throat problems. Others would probably wish that I would lose my voice, but alas, they’re SOL.
Pam says
Feel better
Lynn Latimer says
Lemon and honey and hot tea help a lot with swelling. Also gargling with salt water which is nasty but can be very helpful.
Lou says
I stand by the lemon honey
Tylikcat says
…and whiskey. I mean, I almost never drink, but when my voice is trashed, it’s hot toddies all the way.
kelticat says
Prefer apple brandy. It tastes so much better.
Brooke says
I’ve got to try this next time I have a bad cold. ๐
Amanda says
hope it helps
DianainCa says
Hope you feel better soon!
Marzie says
Feel better!

Traditional Michiga remedy: Hot , full-sugar Vernors. No other ginger ale works as well.
Tink says
You couldn’t used to get Vernors outside of Michigan (or perhaps it was a midwestern thing), but it started showing up in Arizona when my parents lived there. I don’t know if it’s available all around the country. I don’t think I’ve noticed it in Maryland, but I also haven’t really looked.
I will say that having grown up on Vernors that Canadian Dry ginger ale is really flat in comparison. Unfortunately, it’s more widely available, or at least from what I’ve seen it is.
neurondoc says
I’ve never seen it in Maryland. My Midwestern husband usually imports it from Cleveland, along with Cotton Club Cherry Strawberry soda (tastes like fizzy cough medicine–yuck) and Woeber’s hot and spicy mustard (which is as awesome as the cherry strawberry is NOT).
Mimi says
Ah, Vernors ginger ale and Cain’s marcelle potatoe chip, food of the gods!
kommiesmom says
You can get Vernor’s in Houston, but not at most grocery stores and not always. Spec’s has usually got it. I prefer the ginger beer, but it does bite back. (A college friend from Missouri got me started on it.) It is so much more flavorful than regular ginger ale.
Also, no artificial sweetener like all the Schweppes. The regular stuff has corn syrup and stevia (I think) – sneaky, but I taste all the artificial sweeteners, so I looked.
Tink says
Ever had a Dark & Stormy? It’s ginger beer and dark rum. I don’t like ginger beer by itself and I don’t like dark rum, but you mix the two together and it’s pretty good.
Kimmelane says
Oh, yeah! A good Dark & Stormy is delicious, and the Moscow Mule is one of my favorites also. Different brands of ginger beer have widely varying flavors, so check out several kinds. I love the ultra-spicy Goya Jamaican Ginger Beer, but there are many that are not nearly so hot. Here’s a great list with descriptions: https://www.loveandoliveoil.com/2014/12/11-best-ginger-beers.html
Anne Schultz says
Before 9-11 and the change in flight rules I use export it to Hawaii in my carry on a few bottles at a time. We had a debate at work re: which was better so I brought a bottle for floats to work and it won hands down against Candian Dry which is only ginger ale we can get here. I miss it a lot so I always have some when I visit my parents in Michigan.
Kimmelane says
Vernors is available in north Florida, and it’s awesome.
Tink says
Hmmm. Arizona and Florida, states with lots of snowbirds. Coincidence?
PatC says
Glad you found something that works for you!
Colleen Whitley says
I like their Breathe Easy tea too.

Russian grammar question: Why “na” and not “za” zdarovye? My Russian is a little rusty, but I vividly remember my Russian teacher going on a long rant about movies that used “na” rather than “za” when making a toast. This woman also said that she didn’t mind us children swearing in class as long as it wasn’t in Russian (“it’s too beautiful of a language to give life to such disgusting meanings”). I appreciate your input. Thanks ๐
Ilona says
Preposition/particle za has several meanings, but the general one is being outside of something or on the edge of something.
Za predelami – outside limits.
Zashita – protection, literal translation behind a shield.
Za Moscow! – when used in this context, for the sake of Moscow, often used in revenge style speaking. If a Russian soldier yells, “Za Moscow!” during a film, the meaning is “We will kill them all for what they did to Moscow.”
Na, on other hand, translates as to.
Na rabotu – to work, as in going to your job.
Na zdorovie – To health.
Idem na Rome – going to Rome.
The idea of this toast is that you are wishing the person a progression or journey to health. For the sake of health doesn’t quite make sense, because most toasts imply wishing someone something. You don’t typically toast “for happy marriage” at a wedding, you toast “to happy marriage.” Some people believe this has to do with religious origins of the toasting, but honestly nobody knows exactly how the tradition originated.
Patricia Schlorke says
Thank you for the Russian language lesson. Hope you get better soon.
Simone says
Please let us know if it works for you. I hope you’re feeling better.
My husband has allergies and sinus issues. They have improved quite a bit since he started taking a teaspoon of local honey every morning. It contains a blend of local pollen, which can strengthen a person’s immune system, and reduce pollen allergy symptoms.
Ericka says
Probably you shouldnโt encourage us.
Hope it helps, and you feel better soon!
wont says
I hope this turns out to be magic tea. With all you have going on right now, a contrary throat should not be in the mix. Good luck.
Ms. Kim says
I’m with Lynn Latimer, lemon, honey and tea.
LucyQ says
We make a drink for sore throats that I call hot lemonade: hot water with half a lemon squeezed into it, and a good teaspoon of honey. Then hold the hot mug to your chest to get the warmth on your chest and the steam rising into your nose. Aaaaaahhh…
Cynara says
I hope the tea works for you, and you feel better:)
Kathryn says
Additionally, Throat Tender Tea from Tealuxe is super effective! Swineflu tested and approved
Carol says
I love throat coat! It totally works for me. So does breath easy! I hope you feel better very soon.
Christine says
Fingers crossed that this works for you ?
Kathy says
BDH – Big Damn Hero?
I’m not as savvy as I thought, please excuse my ignorance. The Internets says it’s from FireFly.
(It is my opinion that GWB was right, this is the only one?)
And P.S.- Innkeeper would be the BEST TV in the world. Maybe even over FireFly. Sore throats are the pits. As is throat leprosy, so I’m told. Yuck. Get well soon.
trailing wife says
Book Devouring Horde. Because we’re greedy for more of anything the authorlords wrote, and because sometimes they or we share other authors we like to hold us until the next Ilona Andrews appears.
Kimmelane says
BDH = Book Devouring Horde (that would be us, the rabid fans). And I think an Innkeeper TV series would be terrific!
kommiesmom says
I’d watch – and I don’t watch TV.
Kim says
Hope you feel better. If you want to put a smile on your face, though, try a Honey Bee: ginger beer, lemon juice and honey. Either cold or warm.
Kim says
Oh, forgot the best part. Dark rum, too!
Kimmelane says
That was indeed the best part! Gosling’s, Myers Dark . . . yum.
Nancy C. says
I have never heard of throat coat but I constantly, constantly have throat issues throughout the year. See, being part of the BDH pays off ๐
Mary Beth says
My Hubby gets sick more often than I do, and he can get rid of a serious sore throat in three days drinking this tea. Breathe Easy helps both of us when we catch a cold in winter. Traditional Medicinals carries teas for different needs.
I learned to make my own teas based on theirs, though Throat Coat is the one I can’t match. I use it over throat sprays or lozenges.
Patience says
Wildfire $1.99 on Kindle today.
trailing wife says
Not just Kindle, according to BookBub. Barnes & Noble, Apple iBooks, Google, and Kobo, too. What a pity I bought it when it first came out, but the thought of Christmas presents beckons… ๐
Cheryl says
My husband’s family always advocated hot Tang! Actually not bad….
Tink says
Man, I haven’t had Tang in years. I always associated that with going to my grandparents, since that’s what they had. That and the soft drink Tab.
Adelaide says
Add a drop of this in the tea to speed up your recovery… Thieves Essential Oil is a blend of five different therapeutic grade essential oils, including cinnamon, clove, lemon, eucalyptus, and rosemary. This combination of oils covers a broad spectrum of natural health supporting properties. This stuff is amazing.
SocoMom says
I swear by this stuff. Glad it’s helping you!
sarafina says
I’m generally healthy, but sore throats make me insane so I ordered some Throat Coat just in case I pick up a bug. Thanks, all!!
wont says
Has this tea helped you?
Amanda says
Hot toddy made with Fireball whiskey. Opens up all the sinuses!
