Thank you so much for all the book love. 🙂 We are still on tour, but coming home on Monday.
Will there be the fourth?
We don’t know yet.
I found an inconsistency.
Good job.
I want to tell you about it.
The books are out. We can’t edit them anymore, so whatever you found is here to stay. Feel free to email it to us if you wish, but again, the books are out. Some of the inconsistency emails that are collecting in our inbox are not inconsistencies, they are authorial choices. Reginald’s middle name is Blake. His family calls him Blake. Leon is older because we wanted to progress his character so we bumped him a year. Rynda doesn’t choose to use her telekinesis, because she never practiced with it as she did with empathy. Empathy is her primary talent and she doesn’t even use that. She has no sister; Rogan used it as a figure of speech. Etc. So like someone commented, “If you find any typos, you can keep them.” 🙂
I am going to speculate at length about what’s you cut from the ending.
Nothing. We didn’t write the second epilogue, but the book is complete and has everything we meant to put into it.
But some characters weren’t in it.
That’s right. We had a certain word length. Some things didn’t fit.
But…
No.
Why won’t you answer all of our questions? Why are you not answering them now?
Some questions are meant to remain as questions. It is more fun to speculate than to have them answered. We have close to 2,000 emails right now, including blog comments, so please understand that we will not be responding to everyone individually. The spoiler thread is there for you to discuss and have fun. It is not really an FAQ for us, or at least we didn’t mean it that way. 🙂
We will read all of your emails during the next couple of weeks, and we really appreciate all of the support and happy emails you sent. Thank you.
How is the book selling?
No clue. We are trying to stay away from all of that. We had non stop appearances, interviews, and business meetings since last Friday. We are so tired. So tired. We will know on Wednesday if it placed on any list.
That’s it for now. We are to dinner with Jeaniene Frost and her husband. Thank you for all of the awesomeness. See you Wednesday.
How about this… Thank YOU for all of the awesomeness! Can we get a snippet of what dinner with you and Jeaniene Frost would be like? Lol
With Dina as the moderator?
Agreed.
I vote for Curran’s perspective. “Meat, tasty meat, rare meat”.
I vote for Victoria’s perspective… A buffet of spoilers! Lol
Have a wonderful dinner out. Relax. Bask in the glow of a job well done, a book superbly written and enjoyed immensely by your happy readers.
Nitpickers begone. Go pick the nits someplace else. Even better, go write your own book, get it published and then have to listen to all the “You shouldas” before you say “You shoulda…” again.
Anne in Virginia
WHAT SHE SAID!!
Yeah!
Nitpick – the art of taking apart what someone else has created. Appropriate careers: Editors, personal assistants, auditors. When talent is used in inappropriate situations, can cause extreme annoyance – see above!
Ditto Anne in Virginia! Wildfire is ” a book superbly written and enjoyed immensely by your happy readers”.
I hope you have a few days to relax and enjoy catching up with friends.
Right On!
Fingers crossed for a 4th book!!! I did see Wildfire up to #24 in Kindle store on the day of release (I checked several times) and its still about 100 almost a week out! Hope you are having a great tour! Be safe.
I don’t care about the minutia. I just want to say thank you for the 3 volume series (so far) that gave me several hours of escapism pleasure.
Please! SELF PUBLISH future works. The major publishing houses have abused readers/authors long enough! (My opinion)
I am sure our favourite Authorlords will receive an offer from the publishers and will make a considered decision after assessing the pros and cons of the deal offered. Like you Joan, I hope they decide to self publish because, while I understand why the release of WH and WF were delayed, the wait was interminable and the promised ” improved” covers never eventuated. It seems to me, looking from outside, that this particular publisher would be more comfortable publishing Andrea’s favourite Lorna Sterling pirate novels, described in Gunmetal Magic as having a ” pirate in a poofy shirt on the cover” . ( I would love to see Doris’s take on the Hidden Legacy covers. Her work on Innkeeper is outstanding.)
Another reason is that we have met many interesting characters beside Nevada and Rogan-Catalina, Arabella, Bern, Leon, Cornelius, Augustine, Diana,Lenore etc- and I am hoping the IA team tell us their stories too. Some may be novel length, some novella and some short story length. I’m not sure this publisher, apart from their editor, could handle this well, if at all.
The best news is that, whatever publishing route the IA team chooses, we will get at least one more book. I just hope we don’t have to wait too many years for it.
Am I the only one who had to pause and think “…and if y’all ever decided to write up any of Lorna Sterling’s works, I would grab popcorn and cheer!” *
(Okay, I will buy anything you write. But I have had a day, and I am tired, and sore, and behind, and my left shoulder is ever so slightly off, and that just sounds like if would hit the spot.)
* Then again, digital media has totally changed my relationship to cover art. Oh, I am absolutely listening to um, serious science and stuff right now. Possibly in another language.
Love it when you explain the discrepancies. The world seems so real, readers want everything to make sense. Enjoy your “break!”
Thank you for everything. I hope you have an awesome time with Jeaniene and Matt. I hope you allow yourselves to decompress, and just relax. Everything related to work can wait. Hugs.
Thanks so much for such a superb book! Enjoy your dinner and hope you have a well earned rest!
I love your worlds. The Hidden Legacy world has become more real, and compelling, with each book. Thank-you so much.
^^^ I enjoy the plot. I *adore* the world.
Have fun, and relax. The book was awesome as always and more is always appreciated, but not at the cost of your health. When the next book comes is soon enough. (no matter how rabid I get with “more, more, more”s in the meantime)
Thank you so much for your books and clarification! Have a good time and relax. You deserve it.
Frankly I am surprised that you put up with so much c–p from the book devouring horde. You are always gracious even under difficult and sad circumstances. I have learned so much from your blog about publishing and writing that I am astounded anyone writes and publishes. We are lucky to have you to put up with our greed and pushiness. I am glad the business is almost done for this book. Please enjoy your life and friends for a while. Your writing fills a special spot in my life
I’m thankful for all you have published. There are a couple in the print queue. That’s much more than most authors. We are blessed to have you. Again, thank you.
Thank you for the great books! I really enjoy them all. I hope you sell twice as many as planed. Enjoy your time with friends!
Thank you so much for Wildfire. It was fantastic book and the only thing I didn’t like was family interruptions while I was trying to read 🙂 Travel for work is not glamorous – I did enough years of it to know – but I hope there were some fun moments on the tour and you enjoy your dinner out tonight. You two deserve a break so I hope you’re able to enjoy some well deserved r&r soon.
Like others in the post, I’m amazed of all the finger pointing of the “inconsistences” of the book. Here you guys bust yourselves to get both White Hot and Wildfire out this year, and you guys are getting other books out this year, and this happens. Sheesh.
With Leon I thought we just missed his 16th birthday since it probably took place between books. That’s ok. Time files.
I am very grateful for your hard work. Take time for yourselves on the road and ignore the negative comments. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very, very much. 🙂
If Bernard and Leon were adopted when young – so that they are legally the children of the Baylors, then how come they don’t call Penelope mom, and refer to the girls as their sisters?
Because they know their mum, it sounds like she is an occasional presence in their lives.
My ex-husband’s older sister had a child when she was fairly young, who was then adopted by her parents. Everyone involved totally mixes up terminology – so to my ex he’s sometimes her sister, and sometimes her niece, and so on. (Mostly, he called her niece, she called him brother, and I don’t remember all the other preferences, but it varied.) It never was a formal adoption, which caused problems with the Air Force later on when the family was going to move to Spain.
Stuff happens.
And there I go with my total inability to handle gendered pronouns again. *facepalm*
I thought a magic made Leon older and it did… *wink* *wink* *wink*
I love, adore, and wanna marry the books, especially the new release! I hope and pray that there will be at least a fourth. And, what the what about Arabella’s magic!?! I did not see that coming! Okay, I’m out of exclamation points.
Marry the book and have little snippet babies!
The book was fabulous, have a nice evening.
The book was worth the wait? Please try to find time to rest and relax once your get home. A couples massage maybe.
Wildfire is awesome. If we didn’t love it so much we would not be obssessing about! Here’s hoping dinner includes something marvelous for dessert!
Yum, something like the ‘treasure box’ …
❤️ U & UR Words!!!?
As the others above me have already said so well, thank you both for a truly great book and series. I hope y’all have a wonder dinner out and enjoy some R&R when you get back home.
Thank you for the great series Hidden legacy is…
While I would love to have a 4th, 5th, 6th, and so forth book (and I really hope that happens), I understand that there is a possibility that it cannot happen. I will not blame you guys as I know it will be because of the publishers – them being idiots for not offering another contract for that series while at the same time being cruel in not releases that series for you to write indies.
Here’s hoping Avon is not either idiotic or cruel, cuz I really, really want more.
Like everyone else I want to thank you for an amazing book….in fact for all your series’s as they give us so much pleasure.
Fingers crossed there will be at least one more book for us to enjoy.
Take care, travel safely, thanks for taking the time to post a blog when you are so ? tired….now go and enjoy your dinner with your friends ?
You write it – I”ll buy it. Enjoy a well deserved night out and have some fun!
I sure hope there will be a 4th book — great universe and characters!! As stated by others, I’ll buy everything you two write because I so enjoy your books.
Hope you had a nice time visiting with Jeanine.
I know the tour is difficult but as a fan who get to meet you last Sunday in LA THANKS!!! It was so great to meet you both!!
Thank you for a fantastic book! Please take a break and plot some mischief—don’t get caught 😉
Echoing others on here, a huge thank you for the series. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. As always I became caught up in your world building. Thanks to your blog I understand so much more about publishing. Please have a good time with friends and rest when you both can.
I am so tired of the pick, pick, pick, of some of the Horde. It’s a really great book, why not accept it as it is? Anyway, I hope all the best for both of you. I have so much respect for you.
Thank you for the book. Get some well deserved rest. I hope the series continues, but that’s all I can do.
Thank you for another great book! You guys are the best-go on vacation. We’ll be here and waiting!
I love you guys so much. Thank you so much for this book.
Hope there will be more books from these series.
Lastly I hope your books will be available in the philippines…
Thank you for your great work and efforts. Love your books
As others before me: I hope there will be more. And I’m sure there would be people willing to help with finances if you decide to selfpublish (for example py donation). To me it would be totally worth it 😀
Get a good downtime and then keep going with your awsomeness
*by not py XD
It was the most wonderful book. Like most who read it over night, I made some mistakes but there is no way to retract a post. Still, I just enjoy talking to other readers. I will read anything you write. You are excellent authors. Thank you for your wonderful creations.
I just want to say a big thank you for Wildfire and the whole series. Fingers crossed for a 4th book. Big hugs.
Andrea 🙂
Thank you so much. I read Wildfire, re-read the series and then re-read Kate, just to be sate the “wants”.
You two write some of the best characters out there. If they were real, I would want to meet them, except I’d be so intimidated by them.
Thanks again for letting us in on these great adventures with fabulous folks.
Thank you for all the awesomeness! ?Wildfire is amazing and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that Avon would want to continue the series. ? In the meantime, I hope you guys will be able to rest and relax after you come home from tour! From what I heard from my friend who attended your Houston signing, you guys were super nice and approachable.?
Love this series. I got the e-books and the audio versions. I love Rene Raudman’s narration. I really hope there will be more book(s). You and Gordon have created such an interesting world. I hate to leave. Thank you.
I just finished reading Wildfire for the second time (!) because it is so fantastic and I knew I’d missed some things the first time around. Now I plan to read all 3 in a row. I absolutely LOVE these books and the characters. I love how they interact, how they use their magic, loved how Rogan gets when anyone tries to put the moves on Nevada, how she reassures him, loved the action, the prime trials – OK love it all! Thank you for these books, they are riveting and ones I know I will read again and again. I’m all for more in this series but totally understand if you feel this was last. (I’ll cry a lot, but I understand.) I would have loved to read about Nevada meeting Rogan’s mom, how their lives go on, and how they deal with Caesar. (I’m so proud of myself because I think I know who it is!) Just please keep writing books because I love everything you have written!
You both make me smile so much!! Keeping it real!! I hope you enjoy(ed) your dinner out. I think you should have much more relaxation than that. I actually stopped reading that particular blog because it took on fan fiction dimentions. I look forward to whatever you do next and whatever you share with us next whenever you decide to do that! Blessings!
AAARRGGHHH!!!!!
Greedy reader wants more !!!
You can’t do this, more Hidden Legacy world.
“But…
No.”
Made me laugh ridiculously hard. Thank you so much for the books. Have read Wildfire 3 times already. Such a wonderful world you created.
The storyline is worthy of any “list”. I am hoping it does well for you. Thank you for your effort, blood, frustration and joy in writing a totally enjoyable story that can be read alone or as part of the trilogy.
Loved it!!!!! More, please and thank you ?
In defense of some of the nitpickers, of which I may have been one, it wasn’t a “ah ha, you made a mistake”, it was a “crap, what did I miss and where?” situation. The bit with Reginald vs. Blake, for example — I thought I missed a brother or something, or a mention that it was his nickname. So some of what may have come across as nitpicking certainly wasn’t intended that way. For me, at least.
Apologies if it seemed that way.
Such a fantastic book, and a wonderful addition to the series. There were lots of really epic scenes in here – can’t wait to read it again! Thanks for all of your work. 🙂
Congratulations, It was wonderful book.!!!
Thanks
>.< I always want to know why people write these questions. Oh well, mysteries!
Hope you guys get some rest in between tour dates! Have a good post tour rest and good luck with everything.
Ignore the whiners!
I am very grateful for another great book from you( bowing to your greatness;)
Fabulous 3 books, loved them. And the audios were as awesomesauce as always.
I just really want to get my letter to Santa in early this year. Pretty please may I have the visit with Rogan’s mother as my Christmas gift? ( or my stocking filler purchase to myself I really don’t care) Or a Rogan POV (ideally of the house trials) as my very soon gift?
Well, you know if you don’t ask etc …..
Seriously I hope you have time off planned you guys deserve it.
A short story detailing tea with the future mother-in-law would be an awesome present!
Fun,fun fun!?. Great characters (even the secondary characters felt real), an entertaining plot and hints of more to come. Thank you.
I just tell myself that the unresolved stuff – as in Rogan’s evil cousin?? – just means there will be another book, so it’s all good.
Thank you for writing all these awesome books! You’re amazing! I hope you get some rest soon.
Well, I loved Wildfire! I have re-read it three times and am now starting again with Burn for Me to read the whole series all the way through.
Mee too! I’m starting the third round…
You tell em!
Both of you have such a wonderful gift! I can’t even fathom how you guys do what you do!! I’m very thankful that you guys share your gift with the rest of us.
I had anticipated Wildfire more than usual and it exceeded my expectations. Fantastic. I would love more Hidden Legacy. I think it is amazing how carefully your fans read the books. It is a symptom of how much we identify with the characters and become invested in their stories. I whiz through your books the first time and then slower the second and subsequent times. Your fans expect great things from you and we are not disappointed. Many of your fans are exacting and meticulous, and they stick with you because your writing is that good. It’s human nature to want to fix a tiny flaw or two when we read something approaching perfection. Please don’t ever stop writing. I’m not sure how I would handle the withdrawal.
MaryF, I do the same as you with a fast read through and then slower follow up reads and I get more out of the story every time. I also enjoy Renee’s reading and voice performance in the audio version. I too had anticipated Wildfire more than usual and think it is terrific the way it ties up enough loose ends to be satisfying but leaves enough questions that, should the series continue, there are still interesting stories to tell and characters to get to know better. The writing is outstanding and I think Hidden Legacy is up there with Silent Blade and Silver Shark as my favourite IA stories. Ilona and Gordon, don’t ever stop writing, you have a special gift. I suspect that if you did, the book devouring horde would resemble the mercenaries after exposure to Catalina.
Exactly, Frances. The concepts that began with Silent Blade (my favorite) and Silver Shark are so interesting. They are fleshed out beautifully in Hidden Legacy. The creativity of the IA team in coming up with these worlds is astounding. And they are working on a space thingy that I can’t wait for as I also like to read a lot of science fiction. Yes, each of their series could go on and on (and I would be happy), but then we get hooked on their new stuff. KD will always have the number one spot in my heart, though.
It seems like a good way to finish a trilogy; if you end it here we have closure, whereas if you decide to go on you can center the next book on Catalina and whatsisname who tested her – kind of like what Seanan McGuire has been doing with her Incryptid series.
Thank you so much for this book! I loved it and it came at the perfect time. We are moving and I am losing my crap all over the place. I haven’t been able to focus enough to really read until Wildfire! You manged to write a book with a satisfying ending that leaves me wanting more and you mocked common core along the way…..thank you. You guys are the best.
I loved it~ I inhaled it! laughs. I always do, but, then I go back and re read them again and again. I sure hope there will be a 4th!
thanks so much for sharing your amazing talent!
This cracks me up. Just the fact that you take time to respond to questions, address all the issues people bring up, is an amazing thing. You two make yourselves so accessible to your fans, it is amazing (opposed to someone, like, say, J. D. Salinger…), and wonderful as well. Thank you for all the work you put in, and letting us look inside your lives, and being so responsive in real-time. I really enjoyed the latest. Will give it another few days, and then will re-read it s l o w l y so I get the details.
I never thought I’d love a series as much as the Kate Daniels series, but I DO! I am on my third reread of the Hidden Legacy series and can’t get enough of the adorably witty Baylor clan. Please, please, please continue the series.
The book was amazing. I am in aw of your talent, and so appreciative that you share it with us. While waiting for Wildfire’s release, I re-read everything I could find that you’ve published and all I can say is … wow. Holy sh*t. You guys blow me away.
*AWE! AWE! I can spell, dang it.
OMG loved this book so much, I need a fourth book, this can’t be the end of Nevada’s and Rogan’s story, need more. It was a great ending even though you didn’t reveal who Caesar was, that’s gonna keep me up at night. Please please please don’t let this be the end of Hidden Legacy, there is so much more I want to know about them all. Thanks so much for bringing these characters into our lives and for making us fall in love with them.
Am I the only person who is wondering if Ilona and Gordon’s daughters liked Wildfire. I smiled at the dedication at the front of the book: To Anastacia and Helen. We hope you like this one.
Wow, and here I thought Rynda couldn’t get any more pathetic. Relying on the men in your life so much that you choose not to use your own powers it’s kinda sad. When those powers are telekinesis, that’s just downright stupid. I mean, even if it’s minor, like floating a pencil. Like who wouldn’t use telekinesis?! ????
But anyway. The book was amazing! Thank you so much!! ???
Thank you for the book!
I enjoyed the entire HL series to date tremendously and look forward to any and all stories you choose to write. It is very sad that it takes such time, consideration and effort for you to write stories, but only a few hours for us to read them.
I appreciate the way you wove the issues of returning veterans into the story, and especially had a councilor as part of Rogan’s team. Your matter-of-fact approach defined characters, physical reactions, and motives while moving the story forward.
Enjoy your return home and indulge in some r&r for mental and physical health.
I spent a few days in central FL recently with someone who was considering a move there. I naturally thought of your plans to relocate and wondered how that was coming along. Thanks for the brief update.
I love the series, have read it several times, rest,, and Thank you ,, Thank you very much for a great series,, that I hopes does not end,, EVER…
hi, i usually read english better than write it, so i´m going to write in spanish (my first language).
*Sends you and Gordon super book loves!*
I really loved this book, and how the set turned out in general. I understand that future installments are a “?” at the moment, however I will definitely insert a shameless plea to please consider it.
There was so much awesome in this I can’t even begin to “even”! XD
Enjoy your rest! You two have worked hard for it!
Hi,
Love Wildfire. Had a feeling Blake was Reginald’s middle name, although it’s more like, attempting to go with the flow than be worried about good editing. A little saddened by Wildfire’s epilogue, although it makes sense who Caesar might be. (no spoiler!) Wishing you continued good sales and good writing.
You write. We read. There does not need to be character questions or “why” questions. We all have our roles and we just need to follow them.
I absolutely loved Wildfire! This book was perfect!! The whole serie is perfect!!! I hope you will write another book for this serie. I loved the characters you introduced, the rules that apply in this world and the blue tiger/hound with tentacles (I wonder how intelingent Zeus really is).
Also , could you consider writing a short story or something about the wedding and the ring Nevada will get from Connor? Also I would like to know more about the lives Leon, Bern, Arabella, Catalina – how do their schools look, who they like and such?!
Hi, I was thinking Wildfire might answer the question Nevada had in White Hot, where Rogan asks Cornelius if he bonded with his wife. Nevada does not ask them what bonding is, but she would like to know. If this was explained already in a White Hot thread, I am sorry I missed it! Thank you!
It’s explained in White Hot. Right after Rogan asks Cornelius that, they go watch the video of Nari being murdered. Cornelius asks for some time alone, Nevada and Rogan return to the balcony, and then Nevada asks Rogan what he was talking about with the bond thing, and he explains. I only have the Kindle version, which doesn’t have page numbers, so it’s around location 1013, or you can search for and it’ll bring you right to that passage.
search for {pretium}. Apparently, using < brackets disappears my word. I didn't realize this comments section allowed for html. Oops.
Truthfully, Wildfire was a bit disappointing at first, bearing in mind that with Ilona Andrews “disappointing” still equals “entirely wonderful to read and enjoyable.” I think it was on my third re-read that I figured out why: This isn’t a good third book in a trilogy. It would have made a GREAT second book, and it makes an excellent third book if the series is extended, but the climax of the story shouldn’t be so… anticlimactic. I entirely get that the anti-climax was deliberate. But to my knowledge, IA hasn’t written a trilogy. The Edge was 4 books and Kate Daniels is planned for 12 + all the shorter works, but no trilogies. The middle book of a trilogy (or Act II) should be the one place where character growth is slightly more important than plot (SLIGHTLY), while the finale takes all of the now-grown characters and pushes them to the limit. There’s too much focus on character growth in Wildfire (i.e., passing all the trials before the actual trials, what family really means) and not enough on the ultimate crisis (Ceasar). Rogan says “I see Ceasar’s shadow” and that’s EXACTLY right for a book/act two. His SHADOW. I mean, who actually gives a shit about the mushy mushroom mage, who has no actual place in the overall conflict?
Also, the attempt at rocking Nevada & Rogan’s relationship was weak — but only because IA had made their relationship so very strong in White Hot, setting out exactly why Rogan & Rynda would never work, and having Rogan nearly sacrifice himself for Nevada. IOW, White Hot took all of the “oomph” out of Wildfire, which should have been the ultimate climax.
So I don’t just hope for a book 4 because I love IA and will continue to read what they write (and because I desperately want to meet Rogan’s mother), but because the series really NEEDS it to finish. Or, you know, books 4 *AND* 5 can be Act III. That works, too ;).
Dear Siobhan, please confine your criticism to the spoiler thread or other forums on the internet. I don’t really feel like reading how disappointing our work is. I get enough of it as is.
I don’t agree with Siobhan in the least – Wildfire was NOT either anti climactic or a disappointing end to the trilogy. You introduced and/ or developed characters other than Nevada and Regan, had an exciting plot and provided a satisfactory resolution of all major issues. The epilogue hints at the identity of Caesar and makes it clear that his plans will not be an immediate threat. You have cleverly left the potential that House politics could go in an entirely different direction, with the introduction of a powerful and incorruptible new House and alliance.
Like others, I would like to see novellas about some of the characters. I would also welcome more full length novels in this world.
