I like yarn catalogs. I know they are bad for the environment, but I still really like them. I get WEBS catalog, and it’s a little highlight of my month. I don’t always buy things from it, but it makes me happy to read yarn descriptions. I’m trying to figure out what it is and I think I miss going shopping to the market.
I don’t mean supermarket. I mean market, a bazaar, an outdoor selling place. This is the actual picture of a bazaar in the city where I was born.
There is something about going to the bazaar that gives you the feeling of possibility. You don’t know what you’ll find, but it might be something good. For some reason, I get that same feeling from WEBS yarn catalog, but only in paper. I have resolved to sign up for more yarn catalogs only to discover that most people don’t print them anymore. ::sigh::
It’s interesting how technology moves us forward. The other day a friend’s son asked her why we say “Dial the number.” I suppose paper catalogs will eventually go the way of the dodo. Until then, I’m going to enjoy it.
What’s you guilty pleasure?
