Horde, horde, horde. We really have to work on sneakiness.

No sooner did I say to be cool and act like nothing happened, that I feel the Earth start to shake and a roaring squeee reaches me in London: KAAAAAAAAAAATE! I guess one could say you loved it hehe.

Ilona was so right when she wrote this (back by popular demand):

Hidden Legacy = HL Innkeeper Chronicles = IC Kate Daniels = KD

HL 1: It is romance.

At the other side of the table IC fans are nibbling on thin mints

IC 1: Look at this rose made out of crepes I found on Pinterest. Doesn’t it look like something Orro would make?

IC 2: Did you know IA has a pinterest board for IC?

IC 3 and IC 1: Oooh.

IC 3: All I am saying is that they better put enough book out or there might be ripper cushions.

IC 2: Oh, hee-hee, you are too much.

The door bursts open and HL 4 runs in

HL 4: They’re coming!

IC 1: Grab the tea!

HL 2: Save the cookies.

IC 3: Shields up. Brace, brace, brace!

The horde of KD fans explodes through the door, wearing dirty armor, swinging blood-stained weapons, and screaming gibberish.

KD 1 roaring: The KD series is the best series! Amehe!

KD 2 bellowing: Kate and Curran are the BEST couple, the only couple, couple goals! Ranar kair! Join us!

KD 3: FUS RO DAH!

Everything stops.

KD 1: What is wrong with you, Steve?

KD 3: Um, sorry, I got excited.

KD 2: Go sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done.

HL 1: Would you like a cookie?

KD 4: We spit on your cookie! We take our cookies dipped in vampire blood! Give us Kate Daniels or give us death!

KD 5, headbutting the table: Sharratum! I pledge myself to you, now and for all eternity!

            • I don’t understand the excitement, but I don’t care if other people are having fun with it. I’m sorry it has to be rationed due to everyone not having that opinion.

              Mod R, you do a great job of herding the BDH kitties. The fact that we range everywhere from the Rusty-Spotted Cat (a fluffy 1.8-3.5 lb [0.8-1.6 kg] wild feline) and the Amphimachairodus kabir, a saber tooth cat that “[hailed] from the Miocene savannahs of Central Africa” with an estimated weight range of 770-1,000 lbs (350-490 kg) shows that you are a superhero.

            • I’m sorry if I precipitated this last week. While I don’t understand the ‘am I first?’ comments, if it makes others happy then go for it.
              I usually just lurk anyway. I only commented that day because I wanted to say thank you for all of the wonderful imaginary friends you have shared with us all. ????????????????
              The KD snippet was wonderful yesterday, I’ve had a lovely time imagining from that point forward. ????

              • There were several comments and even emails about it, no worries. And I agree, it could get much if it’s on every post ????.

                The BDH has fun reading the articles and then second fun (like a hobbit’s second breakfast) reading the comment section, so it shouldn’t be all samey.

                Plus that makes the Innkeeper First that much more coveted ????

          • Sadly, *long* experience tells us that rewarding the first post – on any site, anywhere – will inevitably lead to bots, fighting, and bizarre in-jokes that will be impossible to stamp out. (See: late 90s Slashdot, “first!”, and “hot grits”.)

    Given that she was the first exposure to IA for so many of us, no matter what gets written it will always be Kaaaaaaate!

    • i was given magic strikes (3 book in kate daniels) by a little old lady(87) i knew, she said and it quote ” i think you will like this ” . I read it not knowning that it was book three, and that started it for me

  31. I know the authors like to write novels where the characters advance emotionally and chronologically. However I wish they would write more short stories in the KD world, just showing Kate etc. everyday life. Obviously from the snippet, they can find lots of fun adventures and troubles without even trying…

  33. I know I shouldn’t send gifts to the Andrew’s, so I’ll tell Mod R about it. I was browsing in one of the 5.11 stores in El Paso, Texas and I saw a pair of socks with the label of Sock and Awe. The socks were printed with a multitude of bright Red Scorpions.

  47. I’m always tailgating in the parking lot while making Edge-burgers and playing with action figures. (Okay, sometimes we also roller skate & we have a windup bird so we can pretend we’re George.) Occasionally some of the KD’s stop by (cause, of course we have beer, in Red Solo cups) but they’re always very polite. Some of our members might join the KD stampede just to have a seat at the table of hope. Sigh

  51. Kate is my fav kick ass heroine. Rogan is my fav flawed hero. Celino is the one who makes me tear up. My heart breaks for Hugh. Matias is my fav everything. Catalina is who I want to be. Maud is who I want to be my best friend. I want to live in New Delphi, vacation among the dahlias of the provinces, bargain hunt in Baha-char and hunt dangerous things in the swamps of the Broken. I want Orro to make me things whose taste will rock my world. I want to go adventuring with George and Jack, have movie and popcorn night with the lees, give Cookie the squeezies, debate the meaning of life with the First Scholar, see Meli and Rosie dance in a dojo, waltz with Gaston, see George get to go home and watch the stars of deepest space spin slide past House Krahr’s battle station. I want to be the anthropologist who writes the definitive book on the Holy Anocracy, sample ALL the coffee with Lady Ilemina, travel the world of the Weird to map all its faces and places and dream my way into all the undiscovered places that exist in the realms that exist under the aegis under House Andrews.

    I am a purist BDH member. I want it all, whenever it gets here, no matter what its about. There isn’t even a single story I didn’t like. They have all been excellent, even as some have risen above for whatever reason.

    My favorite book: the one I haven’t read yet. 🙂

  66. I’m not gonna lie. I was so excited about it but I was trying to be cool. I was having some serious KD withdrawals and it came right on time. I know what you are thinking…Time for a reread! But I would never finish before Ruby Fever and I want to be in the right mindset. And it’s not like I can wait to read Ruby Fever after it comes out. That’s just not going to happen.

  77. This made me laugh. I started with HL and then read the Edge, IC, and finally all of KD. Rogan and Nevada are my favorite couple. But I love everything IA has written. HL and KD the most. They are tied for me. And I really really hope we get an Arabella trilogy! I’ve already got my pre-order in for Ruby Fever. Also very much looking forward to the next installment of Ryder whenever it comes. 🙂 In the meantime, I’m keeping up with IC and loving it! Thanks House Andrews for many happy hours of reading!
