The new website is up and running. Thank you for bearing with us during this difficult time. We were shut down for whole 6 hours. We would like to thank Aimee and Jayana of Anchored Design, who were amazing to work with.
HIGHLIGHTS
If you follow EMERALD BLAZE preorder link from the main page, you can now read the first two chapters.
BLOOD HEIR, codenamed Ryder, now has its own dedicated page. You can find it by clicking the button in the second menu. The posts will still appear on the main blog, but now they will also be listed on that page. They are organized from earliest to latest, but the latest post is highlighted at the top of the page, so you don’t have to hunt for it. If you are reading Ryder on that page, the links at the bottom of the post lead to other Ryder chapters, so your reading can be almost seamless.
Innkeeper website has gone away. Innkeeper will now have a dedicated page like Ryder, to make things easier to find. Innkeeper Series page has an area that informs you if the Innkeeper is currently active.
Some of the older free fiction is now only accessible through Other Fiction link.
The Release List is up to date.
You will be seeing minor tweaks. We are still waiting for some art and things have to be adjusted here and there. As of now we are resuming work on Ruder, which needs to be edited a bit. There might be some post reshuffling there, as we cut a few hundred words to make it leaner. This is about normal at this stage of the manuscript, so no worries.
A FEW OTHER RANDOM THINGS
The ebook of MAGIC SLAYS had vanished from Commonwealth markets for a bit and nobody can explain why, but it’s now available again.
Someone sent me links for the African American owned yarn stores but redesign resulted in us using a different form, so we lost a lot of your queries. Please resend and I will highlight the link in one of the posts.
The responses to your emails will be delayed because of this and also because despite being repeatedly warned that it was a bad idea, Brandi adopted a puppy. He and other litter mates were rescued by Human Society from a backyard breeder where they were starved and only allowed to drink stagnant water. His tail is permanently crooked as the result and it proved a massive barrier to him being adopted. Until Brandi came along.
His name is Quincy and he has four types of intestinal parasites. He has his own medicine shelf in the kitchen. Currently Brandi is sleep deprived, cleaning up worms everywhere, and doing fun things like taking Quincy to be X-rayed because he might have eaten something he shouldn’t. Spoiler: he didn’t, but the bill was still $200.
So a little delay on emails.
Well, that’s all for this Friday. I am exhausted. The migration was a huge amount of work, but it’s done, and hopefully it’s more organized now. We have to do our weekly house cleaning and then it’s work. How was your week?
Siobhan says
Congratulations! This seems to have been a massive amount of super-annoying work, and I am glad for your sakes that it is done and you can breathe again. And get back to doing the work you *enjoy* doing.
A says
Your new website design is so clean and gorgeous! Also I’m in awe with how fast all the pages load :O
jenn says
Yes!! The speed with which the pages load! it’s awesome.
Aj says
I want to say thank you so very much for the chapters from Catalina’s book. I was so excited reading it that I was holding my breath. My husband told me to quit it. Also, is that Derek in the Ryder cover? That is fantastic as well. You two rock. Can’t wait. Love the new site. Have a great weekend.
Readerbabe says
It is beautiful, isn’t it? It’s SO much easier to navigate through. I love how each series had a separate tab and when I select it, I get to enter a whole new world altogether.
And don’t even get me started on the gorgeous artwork, it’s just marvellous! The fact that it’s individualised to each main character is a cherry on top. I feel like a kid in a candy shop, uncovering new exciting thing with each click. 🙂
Goethebier says
So I am still in awe about the new site and everything you build in those past years. And when I read your story about how long the road to publication was. Wow. But what stood out was the title the Dog and the wheel. Because it reminded me of a story oder better a documentary called the biggest little farm. Where kg all startet with a dog and through lot of hardship and learning all kinds of stuff the build this new ecosystem (world). Just like you with the kate books build this whole world. And now your daughter got a dog…and the wheels are turning…kind a funny. Thank you guys for giving us such wonderful places to go and meeing all those wonderful people. And to Brandi all the best and much joy with her new dog!
Popcorn says
Awwww poor pupper!! It’s good he will now have a much better life than he did previously. Hope you are able to relax a bit this weekend after all the work you did though having a new grandpup in the house might mean you all get less sleep!
Siobhan says
Ooh, two questions:
1) do we need to sign up again for the quarterly newsletter and/or the blog site?
2) what prompted the move to weekly blog updates? I know a lot of people don’t like daily — I don’t like it anywhere but here — but I really appreciated the daily updates here.
Ilona says
There have been no alteration to the mailing list that we know of. We didn’t even stop it, we just dumped the worldbuilding posts.
Siobhan says
Ah, because the button on this page says “click here to subscribe to weekly blog updates”.
Ilona says
There you go.
Siobhan says
Thank you for clearing up that confusion!
Siobhan says
Aaaaaand, I hate to do this, but I just saw it was in the footer as well.
Gordon says
Look at those ears, I would have named him Tabaqui.
Ilona says
::fans self:: Ooo, a literary reference. Do you come here often, because you can have my number?
Gordon says
Baby, if you were words on a page, you’d be fine print.
Tink says
That’s a new one. Did you use that when you were first trying to get her to date you?
Patricia Schlorke says
Aanndd the Horde will go somewhere else while you two flirt. 😉
KC says
Speak for yourself.
It’s cute in an adorkable way. 🙂
Oh Kay says
Totally cute
Karen says
Awesome! That’s a good one.
Tom says
Beautiful! (Both the redesign and the puppy)
Enjoy your rest/sleep/relax!
(Oh and I love the Curran ‘logo’ – not sure of the proper name – the image that appears in the url bar next to the address and in bookmarks etc. It’s so simple and yet characterful)
Ali says
Oh my gosh as GSD mom I am squealing this morning, such beauties!
Jen says
Well, it’s Fridee night and you have my synpathy: skunked dogs, adopted puppies AND switching software systems and you are still happily sane. Yep I’m exhausted but since it’s well past 5’0clock somewhere, I’m amused by life and astounded by the your capacity to cope with the incidentals in life whilst finding a way to work around them … reality reading at it’s best… 😉
Jessica says
The website redesign looks great! Quincy looks like a sweetie.
PMG says
So wonderful that you’re up and running again. LOVE Quincy and wonderful that he was rescued. Poor baby. We have a rescue potcake dog from the Dominican Republic. Love her to pieces. Will be getting another one as soon as the planes start flying. Can’t wait for next book.
Suzanne says
This post might be one of the best post on the Internet. New look- check! Puppies- check! ALL the info and updates- check!
I’m listening to the KD series on audio for the 1,028th time. (Next is the InnKeeper, then Hidden Legacy. I may have a clear schedule set…) I adore all of y’alls work on some level and will eager devour anything you release!
Meredith says
You guys worked so hard and everything looks amazing!
My week has been ROUGH. Work kind of sucks right now, and even though restrictions are lifting, the enforced togetherness with small kids along with lots of work responsibility is sapping my sanity. Looking forward to Emerald Blaze SO MUCH.
EliEden says
I hear you! We have two under the age of 4 and if it’s not the eldest throwing temper tantrums its the youngest opening the front door by herself and leaving (when did she learn to do that?). I hope this weekend things get better!
My husband has to go physically back to work next week so they’re starting daycare again on Monday. I’m absolutely terrified and yet a small, guilty, I’m-a-horrible-Mom part is also relieved.
Emerald Blaze cannot get here fast enough…
Angela says
He has the cutest ears ever! And looks only ready to pose if he is chewing on something precious, lots of fun ahead. Well done with the website. I recognize the amount of work behind the scenes cannot be seen from the front end, up we appreciate all your work.
Kristi says
Oh, so cute! Yay for rescue dogs!
kim hurt says
WOW i am tired just reading about your list of dones.
Anne says
Wow, am I impressed with your mad skills! Very minimal downtime and a beautiful update.
Wendy says
Congrats on the update! Looks awesome!
Rose says
The puppy is ADORABLE! He’s going to be kind of large…but cute. Best wished to the new baby…and his mum.
Emily Edwards says
Cute puppy! Hope he gets better soon!
Website looks great! Is the new title Blood Heir or Iron Heir? On the homepage it says Blood Heir and on the blog Iron Heir. I have never commented before about typos, but I thought that might be important. Sorry
Michele Conley says
Thanks for all your hard work. Congratulations on completing the transformation. Please rest and recharge. Hope you enjoy new levels of creativity!
Hazel Fitzgibbon says
Well done on the migration – I always think of birds with that word though… And well done with the puppy; poor little mite has fallen on his feet. Yes, puppies have a habit of investigating anything below waist height! And protein content is not a requirement!
Simone Wilhelmy says
this looks great, thanks for doing so much work to be in contact with your fans, i appreciate this.
i will miss the colors a little bit, though 🙂
i have a question, is “Iron heir” something different from “blood heir”? i thought there is only “Ryder” active on the blog. i mostly wait for the full book, its easier to read for me so i might have missed something.
Cherylanne Farley says
Whoa. Impressive and so clean looking. Well done. We have 6 day reprieve from horrible heat fires power loss so I’m running working hard saving ALL the goodness here to read when were down. Secret treasure. Now quick thanks. To keep working I had to switch to WFH plus become independent contractor. Also required to set up light mic essentially video studio from home. Finally to access required networks blahblah required to have domain name and web hosting and website. Barf, and of course install and pay for it. Borrowing inspiration from you all I. DID.IT. completely shocked. Words matter. Woohoo!
Tiffany Crystal says
You’re back, you’re back! YAY! The blog looks wonderful, so at least the hard (and annoying) work was worth it? ????????????
Alex says
I love the new site! I’m sure there will be some bugs and minor fixes, but it looks fantastic and I hope you’re thrilled.
Best of luck to Brandi with the new pup! My partner and I are old hands at caring for sick pups (and kits)… we might be running a hostel for tired older animals that need some TLC. It’s a lot of work, but stick it out through the hard parts, it’s worth it.
AP says
Thanks for suffering through the change because the new site looks fantastic! Love the lion logo too!
Pam says
Wowsers, that’s enough for 3 weeks! Good luck with the GSD puppy…hugs to all for saving him ! I love the new launch of the website, it’s fun to rediscover information. Happy Furday…umm Friday!
Tara Crescent says
Adorable! And I love the new blog design.
I know you have a zillion things going on, but if there’s any way to restore the Alphahole article you’d written, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!
Siobhan says
Also, thank you and thank Avon for the Emerald Blaze excerpt/beginning. Excuse me:
SQUEEEEEEEEEEE
*breathe*
10,5 weeks. And Peace Talks in between. I can make it without collapsing into a complete puddle.
Susan Hoover says
Hugs
Jenn says
it’s been a crazy week. Looks like I may have recycled our “economic stimulus debit card” that I didn’t know we were getting. Apparently they send you a letter about it 15 days after it’s mailed to tell you about it. Then you find out it came in a plain envelope from a bank in Nebraska no one on the East Coast would ever have heard of. I didn’t think we were eligible, as I went back to work full-time last year, but they based it on old numbers. Which I’m sure will end up biting us in the ass eventually. SIGH.
I love the new site. it really looks beautiful and clean! I hope it serves you well!! Congrats on getting through it. Huge heaps of blessing upon Brandi for her rescue of the puppy. You are all such wonderful good people. Stay safe and well. Hope you can enjoy this coming weekend!
Kristi says
Jenn, you are not alone. One of our local columnists wrote about the number of people who had shredded the card.
Jenn says
Wow! Thank you! I did learn they waived the $7.50 replacement fee. What a fiasco.
J says
FYI, I’ve always subscribed to the blog but decided to add the newsletter. I clicked the link and subscribed. The confirmation email link went to a 404 page not found. Don’t know if that’s by design…
Anyway really like the new website!
EarlineM says
Cool new website!!! And poor Brandi…a new furbaby is WORK!!
Thanks so much for all you do. You’re blog is my daily work break. Either you or the new Horde posts are just what I need!
Melinda says
Congratulations! I love the website and all the beautiful artwork!
SueS says
Web site is really great (obviously worth the effort even if I don’t understand half of what all you went through to make it so pretty) and Quincy is adorable and thank you Brandi for the rescue! He’ll be SO worth it!
K Edgar says
after watching the news all I can say now is hunker down and pull up the drawbridge. Up here in the true north the face shield is being touted as the best as it covers face.
I had a stray kitten…he had the biggest ears…matured at 20 lb….he was an absolutely lovely cat .
Love the redesign. Love Ryder…..love all your writings…your a great team.
Stay safe and healthy.
S says
Does this mean older writing articles (like “Show Don’t Tell”) are gone forever? Darn, I wish I’d saved them, I liked to go back and read them on occasion, they were so interesting
Jenn says
Hi S, there’s a tab at the top when you first click on “latest posts Blog” that says “Writing Articles”… click that box and they are all there!
🙂
S says
I know, I looked through it and the older ones are all gone, “Show Don’t Tell” isn’t there anymore for example. There used to be more.
Priya says
The new website is lovely 🙂 And I am absolutely excited about Blood Heir. Hopefully, you guys can have a glass of wine each and chill for a few hours after all the hard work.
Brandi says
As a Brandi, I can personally testify that we don’t often listen. Especially when it comes to cute pets. He is sure a cutie.
New website looks great!
Joylyn says
Wow, it looks amazing! Great job!
Wenny says
Brandi is a doing a great thing for what I’m sure is an amazing dog. I very much relate to all the activities listed– did rescue in North Texas before moving west. I look forward to the stories of Quincy in the future.
But like, now I have to know: what are some of Quincy’s early nicknames? What is your dog speaking style?? Will our dogs ever pet us back??
(Website looks bomb, btw!! Great job!)
Bob says
The site redesign looks really nice 🙂
I do have a possible bug to report.
Reproduced consistently on a fully updated version of mobile Chrome (Android) on a Nokia 6.1 running Android 9
1 – enter a blog post, so far I’ve tried the latest 4 on the blog.
2 – start scrolling down
3- after scrolling down a small amount the page will snap back to the very top before continuing to scroll down. After this one snap to top it will start scrolling down for the rest of the page as normal.
4- this can be repeated on the page as often as you want
I’ve tested this on an old Moto G3 (on Android 5 I think) with updated chrome and Firefox and while it is there it is not nearly so noticable. I think because the phone is so old and slow it doesn’t render the snap back as well.
I’ve got no idea if this is more widespread than my phone or not so I thought I’d mention it.
Kim says
Just checked on my android using Chrome and I think it’s the name/menu switching format. It goes from menu above the name to a smaller version of the name with ‘menu’ beside it, and the page goes to the top when it redraws this.
Karen says
Wow – the website is fantastic! Read the 1st two chapters of Emerald Blaze woohoo can’t wait for the release.
Thank you for your hard work and amazing writing.
Stacy McKnight says
Looks great! I appreciate the work you guys do-both the writing and the fan support stuff ! Thanks.
Claudia says
Congrats on getting the redesign done! And, OMG, Quincy is the cutest!! God bless Brandi, he’s the best justification in the world for a little sleep deprivation.
Jennifer says
The new site is beautiful. Doesn’t it feel like you’ve took all the clothes out of a closet you haven’t organized in years, your room looked like a tornado blew through, and then you had to take the time to tediously sort through everything (keep, donate, toss) before it looked amazing again? 🙂 It’s always worth it.
I’ve been knitting (and struggling with) three sweaters. Startitis has taken hold during this social distancing time.
Lateefa Dawkins says
Ohh!! The redesign is so nice! When I scrolled down and saw the Hidden Legacy picture I got chills.
jewelwing says
Quincy is adorable! Having been through the parasite issue with a few rescues,I can say it is usually fixable.
Website looks great! Looking forward to Ryder as always. Have a wonderful weekend!
Ann M says
Beautiful puppy. We do need to adopt the ones that others pass up. He is going to be a gorgeous energy ball when he feels all better.
Rose says
It looks great!
Karen says
Good for you Brandi!!! He has the most gorgeous eyes.
Caroline Barton says
Congratulations on the new website. It looks wonderful and it seems very easy to use! Also, I just read the first two chapters of Emerald Blaze and it was WONDERFUL! House Andrews is without a doubt my favorite authors! I read everything you post or publish and it is all awesome! It has been a joy to have your blogs to read during this pandemic. While I have worked from home, I am a social person. I like people and your blog helps me feel connected so thank you. With that said, I am with Leon, Alessandro really doesn’t need his knee caps does he?
Tara says
Oooo, Ahhhhh, Ooooo!
Love the redesign! Especially the prettiness that is the “read our BOOKS” section!
Evelyn Ryan says
OMG he is so cute!!!! And kudos to her for seeing what others didn’t.
Oh, and great job on the new site too!! ????
Elizabeth says
The site looks so clean and pretty! I love the organisation. Thank you for the first two chapters of Emerald Blaze.
Brandi’s puppy is criminally cute.
Am LOVING Blood Heir. Thank you so much for deciding to continue that, too.
Hope your week gets nicer.
cyndi says
Love the puppy 🙂 You guys are awesome – take you time and make sure to save some time for yourself!
Anne says
Love the new website design and the attention to detail you put in to make navigating the site more efficient!! Also, can’t wait to see the other new art :). Hope you guys get some well deserved rest this weekend!
Bee says
The site looks wonderful.
MissB2U says
What a relief this must be! Glad that job is done. Brandi’s new puppy is very cute and I hope he is soon all better❤️????.
We are still under construction so my week mostly consists of masks,(dude, if you’re in my house wear it), social distancing on my stairs, hand washing til it hurts, sanitizing everything in sight and hiding in my temporary bedroom until everyone goes home.
Happy Friday everyone, stay safe and healthy!
Loralee Swab says
I love the new website! It’s beautifully done, I love the artwork headings, you must be very pleased. It was worth all the work…
Victoria says
He is a cutie! So glad he was rescued 🙂
Site is looking very fine 😀
R.J. Blain says
The new addition to the household is precious, and I’m so sad he was having trouble finding a home.
Our Zazzle had trouble finding a home, too.
She was very scared of humans and shy.
She is now an epic cuddlebug.
I hope everything goes well with the puppers!
Katherine says
My fourth foster kitty was in foster care for over a year. 5 minutes into his umpteenth adoption event I hear, “Daddy! Look at the kitty!”
Ten minutes later daddy filled out the paperwork.
That kitty is now the happiest, most loved little boy cat you have ever seen. Not just by the little girl but by the parents too. I get pictures of him every week.
It was like he had been waiting for them the entire time.
nickole195 says
amazing new website, and the work, oh my, to get that up and running, thank you. also the intro and initial chapters for Emerald!!! holy crap batman, love lurve, luve. the wait is too long way too long but it is going to be epic, the little monkey – man oh man, if you guys could I am sure your home would be zoo-like. congrats to the kid on new addition to the fam, he sure looks like a mischievous little one!! happy friday everyone – be safe, be kind and be smart!
Amanda P says
Well done for all your hard work on you website. I’m popping on in a bit to have a nosey ????
Get well soon to the puppy xxx
I’ve already pre-ordered your new book????
Susan Anzalone says
Quincy is adorable!! I don’t envy you the puppy behavior and worms, but on the plus side, you get skunk breath and a little hairless belly perfect for raspberries!
Joe says
As I said in previous post, your site looks great on my 50″ UHD 4k monitor. Not everything adjusts to it well. I have had trouble viewing high end computer oriented sites. So, you got it right. Looking forward to the bonus chapters in preorder. You are much needed relief in dark times.
Patricia Schlorke says
Love the redesigned site. I love how the first thing anyone sees is the countdown to Emerald Blaze. I have not read the first two chapters yet, but I will. 😀
Brandi’s dog is a cutie. Once he is well, dog training is in his future.
Just one thing to tweek: when I hover over the “post comment” button it disappears. I can still click it to post. I wanted to let you know just in case someone else has that problem.
DianaInCa says
Aww the poor puppy, hopefully he will be rid of the parasites soon. Love the new website! My week has been boring the room I had been using for crafting is going to be switched to a office for my husband. So this week my husband is still in our dinning area because his new desk hasn’t arrived so I wasn’t able to sew. Hopefully it will be here over the weekend and then I can sew in our dinning area.
Kelly says
The new site looks amazing, well done! Thank you so much for the chapters, I am looking forward to the release!
Pam says
Aw, what a cute, very lucky puppy. Your new website looks wonderful, can’t believe it was all done so quickly.
Katherine says
My mister and I have a similar puppy we named Rook (now 3 years old) that had a tail broken in two places, scars on his back legs, multiple types of worms and bad kennel cough when we adopted him cause no one else would. Vet thought Rook had distemper at first because he was so sick. But he made it and is now a 40 pd lab, boxer, pit bull mix. And my 9 pd cat is the boss. Rook sits whenever my cat raises his paw and tries to get my cat to play fetch with him.
Bill G says
Yay for the completion. What I’ve seen so far looks fine. Best of luck, Brandi, with Quincy.
Johanna J says
Hooray! Good to hear the transition went well. Now, I’ll go ramble through the “new” site.
Puppies are a lot of work but they’re worth it. As for having a whole pair of un-chewed shoes, well, that part might be a bit of a challenge for a while. 😉
Alison Parker says
I love that you put the “leave a reply” at the top but I’ve been to used to reading all the comments first, so glad I did.
You two flirting is most entertaining!
Congratulations on getting all the hard work on the website done, I look forward to going there after work.
The puppy looks adorable, and I wish him and Brandi a quick recovery ❣️
Thank you for all your efforts on our behalf. You are all amazing!
Heather says
OMG, just read the first couple of chapters of Emerald Blaze and it is going to be truly awesome 🙂
Dave_5k says
The 2 first 2 chapters and prologue were outstanding, thank you so much! Except now I’m very sad watching a 73 day countdown timer…
Ana Maria McClellan says
All I can say, is based on the pictures I think I get why Brandi couldn’t resist, Quincy is quirky and cute as heck. I’m sure living with his issues affects that judgement, but from the pics, I’m smitten!
Sue says
My week was hardly as exciting as yours. Love the redesign and glad you made it to the other side of it safe and well, if exhausted. Thank you for your care and feeding of the BDH!!! I understand about the resue. All of mine thru the years were a “bad idea” at the time. Vet bills, previous mental and physical trauma to work past. Blessings and hugs! We all need ’em right now, regardless.
Beesknees says
Such a cute puppy! Those ears!!! Such a lot of work for the website. You give so much to your fans. Thank you.
Melissa B says
Congrats! Can’t wait to look around the new sight. Take care and hope y’all can enjoy your weekend.
Joy says
I love the new look and feel of the website. I know it was a pain. Mine is a pain. I feel your pain. But it looks wonderful!
Karen says
Thank you for the update! The site redesign sounds crazy and I’m glad you guys made it through. Quincy is so freaking cute!!! No wonder your daughter adopted him. Your family will really take good care of him, he’s so fortunate to be with people who can give him the extra care he needs.
Hum… on the hone front here, lots of family layoffs. Waiting to find out what the state budget means for me and a couple of family members who also work for state agencies. I’m stressed ????. But your puppy shenanigans did make me laugh and remember how my german shepherd puppy was always doing crazy things and requiring vet visits to make sure the crazy stuff he ate didn’t hurt him. He’s a rescue born with hip deformities. Lots of stretching and therapy to get him walking but he made it. Whenever you post about your daughters grown gs I fall over laughing. We too have a magician door and gate opener who also does crazy things like blocking anyone from coming near One us on the couch for no reason at all ????.
Thank you again for the post.
Mary says
So sweet, just have to smile, this bit of chat brightened my day!! Thank you so much.
KC says
By the way, I love how surly the lion looks in the Ilona Andrews header.
Curran is NOT amused.
Liz S says
Love the new site. Very appealing and easy to navigate. Get some rest!
KC says
Ok so I’m confused, you say: “If you follow EMERALD BLAZE preorder link from the main page, you can now read the first two chapters.”
So I navigated to here: https://ilona-andrews.com/hidden-legacy-books/#catalina
But all I see are the pre-order links? How do I get to read the first two chapters?
RobtheFiend says
https://ilona-andrews.com/featured-release/
Scroll down.
reeder says
Main page Pre-order link has the first two chapters https://ilona-andrews.com/featured-release/
The Emerald Blaze “Order Now” link could be updated to featured-release, as it currently does not link to a Pre-Order page 🙂

Melissa B says
Oh my word!! Guys your website is gorgeous. I love how all the books are ordered and the artwork is just outstanding! It is so evocative! Bravo Bravo ????.
Retief says
I hope brandi enjoys the one time in that pups life that he didn’t actually eat something questionable.
Sharon says
Aw! Can’t blame Brandi a bit for rescuing poor Quincy. He has hit the lottery, and must feel like a new pupper!! What a beautiful boy!!
And your website looks very clean and professional. I’m fully aware of the labor involved, and hope that all of you enjoy using your new site.
Well done to all!!
Brenda says
Welcome sweet pupper Quincy! ????????
Pristine says
So many white colors now, love the lion raaawr
Cheryl M says
AHHHH, QUINCY!!!!! I would have been right there with Brandy adopting him.
The week had its ups and downs – an uninsured driver backed into the brand, spanking new pickup (700 miles on it), that will be our towing vehicle when we start our full-time rv adventures next month. However, all contingencies were taken off the sale of our house and we close next Thursday!! Hooray!
CharisN says
Why oh why are they always uninsured? Its never the fully insured “hey, don’t worry about it” person. sigh…..
Melissa says
Congrats! The site looks amazing.. what a ton of work. You deserve a relaxing weekend.
Poor Quincy, glad he has a new home and someone to love and care for him. He’s adorable ????
Anne (Germany) says
The website is so amazing! Beautiful!!! Great Artwork! All that with just 6 hours of downtime is downright scary efficient…
Our week is…exhausting. We bought a house over one year ago while it was still under construction. Guess what – it’s still under construction. We were supposed to get the keys at a final inspection by the end of March this year. Our consultant found too many faults that need to be dealt with before we can move in. We need that house by June 30th. We have twins that are one year old. We NEED that house in 2 weeks and instead of fixing everything that is wrong the seller is stalling – asking us to prove that there are, in fact, even defects.
Yeah. Kids are in a growth spurt, so a lot of crying…times two. I’m not very good with interrupted sleep – in that regard I seem to be like Ilona. I get really exhausted and cranky. In one regard I am NOT like Ilona: a grown up. At some point I can’t keep it all in any longer. I try not to beat myself up about it because even though the twins are the greatest (and cutest!) thing ever we’ve had a really, really, REALLY exhausting year. At one point your battery is just empty.
Rant finished. THANK YOU you for your great writing and your entertaining blog. It is what I am looking forward to at the end of the day. Sometimes you just need a little bit of escapism. And headspace.
Melissa B says
I loved reading your biography, and then couldn’t remember if I’d subscribed to your newsletter. After I filled in the information to prove I wasn’t a robot it sent me a link to my email to finish the subscription signup. Received an email and selected the “yes subscribe me to this list” and the link took me to your website with error 404 page not found. I’ve probably done something wrong but in case not wanted to give you a heads up. Ciao for now!
Aime says
Ilona and Gordon, It was an absolute joy to work with you two and I have loved reading every single comment above on the new site design, the excitement about the Emerald Blaze chapters and countdown and your adorable pup too. It was so exciting to work with you both and all of the decisions that were made for the incredible readers here on your site… their support for your work is exciting and contagious.
Amy Ann says
Great job on the website update. It is beautiful.
How could you say no to that baby? Soooo cute. And I know, I did the same thing with a very young kitten–lost or abandoned or orphaned, I don’t know–3 weeks ago. Never had a cat this young before (I tend to get the older ones no one wants) and it’s been an experience!
Patricia Schlorke says
I had two kittens that were barely 6 weeks old due to mamma cat dying during a very hot Missouri summer. I had to feed them with kitten formula and a bottle. Since they were so small, we had a shallow cardboard box with a t-shirt that smelled like me, and a wind-up alarm clock to help them sleep. The ticking of the clock reminded them of their mamma’s heartbeat. Both lived to be over 20 years old.
Marie says
Lovely to hear.
LauraR says
Just finished the Emerald Blaze excerpt and all I cal say is, “This is gonna be goooood!” Thank you for all of this and congratulations to Brandi on the newest addition to her family
JoAnne K. says
I love the new design look. It seems a bit brighter and easier to navigate. I hope you both are happy with the redesign and it results in making your life run smoother. Good luck to Brandi. Quincy is adorable.
Linda says
Your new website is gorgeous!
Congratulations & Compliments to the Designer!
Michael says
I love the title “Blood Heir”
Jean says
Quincy is so cute!! Love those ears, and the sleeping puppy picture! Yes, Brandi, there will be lost sleep, but when he cuddles up, sighs, puts his head on your lap and dozes off, your heart will be so full you won’t remember not getting sleep!
Also, is that “Auntie” Artha helping with Quincy??
Wishing you all a good weekend, with time to just “be” after this crazy week!! ????????
Mysticmoods says
How was my week? I’m currently in search of local contractors and estimates on resurfacing our gravel driveway; adding Winsor brick boarders to our irrigated front yard; having the carpet and tile professionally cleaned; trimming the palm trees; and painting the house-all of it. You own a small piece of this Ilona. All those blogs you posted, with pictures, about moving and repainting and maybe moving to Florida inspired me to tackle a few projects of my own, and now I’m over-extended! The tea helps, though.
Kelly M. says
OMG. What a cutie! (I don’t know about the rest of the BDH, but puppy/dog/cat/kitten/furry-creature posts are always a hit for me!) I have been through the rescue-puppy process before and I don’t envy all the work Brandi’s having to do right now on behalf of that cute little furry face. 😉
Oh, and, of course – yay for the website redesign, it looks great!
Melinda says
I was not the person that sent this initially, but do have a link to a list of Black owned yarn and will dyeing businesses: https://theyarnmission.com/black-yarn-dyers-and-the-case-for-purposeful-support/
Yana says
Congratulations for the new site and thank you for the Emerald blaze! The counting clock is such fun! So close to the book, I’m really glad that already pre-ordered it. The change was so fast, and looks amazing, so good job!
Yey for the puppy, it is absolutely worth it! Congratulations, Brandy, for the new friend!
Tiger Lily says
Cute, cute puppy. I have two rescues. One was found in a Cleveland junkyard and the other was found wandering the streets of Columbus. They both are pit mixes. They both have some issues but they are so loving. It will be great to hear any Quincy stories. I love your animal tales (pun intended).
iread78 says
I really love the new website! It looks really snazzy.
I clicked through to read the Emerald Blaze excerpt on my phone (Firefox on Android) and I’m having some trouble reading it. It’s sized correctly but the margins are really wide to the point there’s only a few words on each line.
I’m not having the same issue when reading your blog posts or comments, so I’m not sure what’s going on but thought I should let you know
Michele Livesay says
You guys ROCK! Thanks for all your hard work. The new puppy is precious by the way.
Lea says
Wooohooo! This is awesome.
Tanya says
Just reading that made me tired! Can’t imagine how exhausted actually doing the shut down, etc would make a person. Congratulations and yay!
Yippeeeeeee and blessings to Bradi for rescuing that beautiful puppy! I have puppy envy!
Lynn Thompson says
Thank you for the post, Ilona Andrews. The website looks great.
Bless you for taking in Quincey. Parasites and puppies do together. However do practice good hygiene as some are infectious to human. It took 3 rounds of deworming to clear Titan he was so loaded.
Because he is a equal opportunity manure eater he is on a monthly heartworm prevention plus. Vet thinks funny as new tech is city girl and I have a dog that eats avian, bovine, equine, feline waste products. Not to mention the deer scat, squirrel poo etc. Hopefully Quincey will be less palate challenged.
Élodie says
Congratulations !!! You did it !
The new site is really beautiful ! I love it ????
Quincy is beautiful ???? hope Brandi will be able to sleep soon again ! ????????
Constance says
Hey! Congrats on finishing the website! It looks super sleek and awesome and everyone involved in its development has definitely earned a pat on the back! I have a question about Quincy: was the name inspired from Bleach (anime/manga)? Would be super cool if it were. ????
siobhan ordorica says
Quincy is going to be a beautiful boy.
Teresa says
Use salt to treat flea infestation. Just sprinkle it on dog. Nontoxic and treatment works. Our vet wanted to know what we used on our dog.
Randi Addicott says
Puppy!! He is so cute!!! Bravo for Brandi on helping save him. I hope the breeder got kicked in a painful place.
Also, love the new site; it looks great.
Finally, I would love to see the List of African American yarn shops.
Congratulations on finishing the redesign!!
Alyssa says
Love the new mobile site, very pretty and user friendly.
Jo says
It’s lovely! We appreciate everything you do!
Ruth says
Congratulations to both you and Brandi! Adopting those in need (whether it be the BDH or a beautiful and challenging animal) is a gift and is truly wonderful. I hope you all have a great weekend and get some much needed rest.
Simone Wilhelmy says
Just a quick note because i already Made a comment, but i just noticed the link to the Bock recommendations ( bhd recommendations) are linked to the wallpapers too.
Again wonderful Job. I have done this, i know its so much work.
Shiloh says
Looks good. I like the flow of it. As for my week…I’m now allergic to the face masks my employer gives us to wear at work. Attempting to create my own.
NJ says
The site looks absolutely beautiful ????
Congratulations!!
Jasmeen says
The new redesign looks fantastic! It’s super clean and easy to navigate. I love it.
I’m also loving the Julie (and Derek ????) banner, as well the the whole Blood Heir/Ryder section in general. The click through for more seamless reading is greatly appreciated, so thank you.
I’m now off to the read the Emerald Blaze excerpt.

Aman Sidhu says
The website is awesome! Take a well deserved break! I will stop using exclamation marks after the next sentence. The puppy is adorable! I’m so happy he’s in a loving home where someone cares for him. Hope you and yours stay safe and healthy.
Sue Gundel says
Website looks great! All your hard work shows. Tell Brandi she’s awesome to adopt that puppy. Hang in there, Brandi. Quincy will get better. My sister does fostering with dogs and the initial 3-5 months can be harrowing with all the health problems from neglect but it does get better.
Joanne says
Took me all day in between meetings to finally ready and oh my goodness gracious… that ending to chapter two. Torture to wait for the release! LOVE IT. 😀 Thank you. Again, website looks fantastic! Great job! Well worth it I think!!
Proud Bookworm says
I love the site. The graphics are beautiful!!
One small suggestion/question: Since the “Kate Daniels World” is no longer a comprehensive reading order list across the different subsets, can you say in the individual descriptions of Iron Covenant, Andrea Nash, etc, where the books fit in the Kate Daniels timeline?
Lyn Gordon says
Ah lucky Quincy. He has found a crazy wonderful home. Glad this is done for you. Can’t believe you were down for a whole six hours. ????????????. Will enjoy exploring the menu. My week in Australia was busy getting back into work mode. Things are slowly slowly getting back to normal ????????????
Kara Rogers says
After wandering around the new site, I have to say.. “Ooooohhh….. Aaaahhh…” Congratulations! I know it was a PIN, and I’m glad you have it behind you!
Emily07 says
Love the new web-site. Looks like all the work was really worth it, and you can relax and get back to normal–whatever normal is these days. The puppy looks happy and loving. Brandi looks like she has a winner, if she can just get past the puppy phase, and some of those puppy phases can be challenging. German Shepard’s are such great dogs. They are intelligent, loyal and are great watch dogs. Peace and blessings to House Andrews. Have a wonderful fun weekend.
Gina G says
The new website design is gorgeous – so sleek & all the artwork just pops.
Quincy is such a lucky pupper – love those front paws.
After reading chapter two of Emerald Blaze – I’m palpably excited at how much Catalina has grown.
(Micro oopsie – Dali Harimaru Instead of Harimau – in the title box under Kate Daniels Series)

I am loving exploring the new site. The layout is so clear and easy to use.
I have just found the cover illustration for Magic Sees a Bird and laughed my tea all over tablet! Thank you for the great Easter egg.
I hope that you get a lot of well earned rest, relaxation and cake to help you recover from your mammoth workload of the past few days.
Claire M says
LOVE the new site!! It’s beautiful and clean and so, so pretty!!!
And PUPPY!!!!! Quincy is adorable!!! Very lucky puppy and I’m so happy for him and Brandi. Even with all the tough stuff that comes from having one. And it’s really not a bad idea. I bought a horse last week so…yeah. ???? lots of love to the new family member!!
Diane says
The new website looks really good! (Speaking professionally…. Looks very attractive, navigation flows well, haven’t had any problem looking for things, and have stumbled across new things here and there.)
Looking forward to Emerald Blaze. Can’t decide yet whether I want to read early chapters, or just wait. It’s been pre-ordered for months. Also looking forward to Blood Heir (noted release date!), and whatever comes next and next and next.
Anyway, this chore is over, and you’ve earned a bit of celebration. Also, hello to Quincy!
Samantha Lavoie says
That is one adorable little GSD, gotta love those mickey mouse ears. Hope he recovers quickly from the nasty parasites, and settles in soon.
Also, for those of you who wished me well when I ranted a few posts ago. You guys!!! My mother made it through her brain surgery and is recovering quite well. Its been over a week now, so we can breathe easy knowing a relapse isn’t as imminent.
Keith Symcox says
In the Ryder blurb, Julie is listed as Julie Daniels, but in the previous stories, she makes a point of being Julie Lennart-Olsen. Kate also describes herself as Kate Lennart. Since the Daniels surname just an alias anyway to keep her dad from finding her, I can see why she was willing to drop it. Why is Julie now Julie Daniels (I assume we will find out why she is also Aurelia Ryder and who this mysterious grandmother is later in the current novel).
Ilona says
::sigh:: It’s Julie Daniels, because I am very tired. It’s fixed now, but the site is cached so it may be a couple of days before the correct description is visible.
iread78 says
I’m pretty sure the grandmother is Kate’s aunt. Her name escapes me just now, but she lived in a knife for a bit and Curran killed her in the book with the flare but she came back (as one does)
The last book’s epilogue had Julie running away to meet the aunt on her way out of town from what I remember
Cindy says
My daughter’s dog chewed up my woodwork, ate my glasses, ruined a large area rug, all in a very short period of time. She’s a great dog now, but the first year was difficult. Good luck
Valerie in CA says
Quincy is awesome. I don’t know who Brandi is but lucky person. And a wonderful person for rescuing the cutie. Sometimes I hate people. He’s handsome. How oh how can you mistreat that face?
Ami says
The new site looks gorgeous! I’m so glad you’re happy and that it’s done. And omg Quincy is ALL the cuteness. Bless his adorable little heart, I just wanna squeeze him! I’m so glad he won the lottery. I’m sure it’s a giant pain right now but they’re wonderful long term. It’s part of why they’re extra adorable during the pain in the butt phase. Same survival tactics my toddler employs.
Sam says
OMG! I loved the prologue and first two chapters of Emerald Blaze. I. Can’t. Wait! I can’t wait for August 25th, woohoo!
Also, Quincy is a cutie and looks like he will be a big dog!
The site looks great and I appreciate the changes that were made. Thank you!
Monina says
Congratulations!!!!
Ohhhhh! Love the font of my post!
Love the new webpage!
Thanks for the updates.
Hope Quincy gets better soonest! Thanks Brandi for giving him a forever home!!!

I LOVE this world and I’m just going to stay here in the blog. Its so much better than out there.
Matt says
Whyyyyyyyyy did I read the sample? I know how far away August is. Whyyyyyyy??
Linda Trainor says
Soo cute and even if he’s trouble you all love him. My wee dogs like 14 or so as we got her from our neighbor. She is Poppy as she came to that home on our Anzac day. Like your Memorial day. here we use Poppy’s to show we remember the Wars and the dead and service. Hence the name.
Rebecca says
I am so impressed with the new website, and even more impressed by the extreme hard work and dedication you have all shown getting it up and running in such a seamless (for us) fashion.
Very well done!!
Quincy is adorable, and I would have found him hard to resist also… let’s hope his road to recovery goes well.
Thank you both for all of your hard work. I’m sure everyone is as grateful as I am that you are so very open and dedicated. Inviting us into your world makes the author/reader relationship feel just ever so much more special.

The site looks so great. It’s nice and smooth. Fast. Brava.
The art on the read our books site: I can’t stop staring at the Kate art. Perfect

Website is fab. You guys have done an amazing job I love it.
And 2 chapters of Emerald Blaze, best authorlords ever
Inga Abel says
Congrats on the new website! It looks fab!! Welcome to the new familiy addition, Brandi! Little Quincy will fit right in and soon he will be cured of the icky things and sleep will be possible again :-)!
Here in Switzerland the corona-restrictions are losening and the Casinos are open again. So I am at work with a plastic head-gear, that makes me feel like I am going to do a surgery at the roulette-table. The guests are behaving like there is no pandemic, but thats gambling normal. Still feels weird to work that way.
Have a good weekend and get some rest!
Inga
Ronette says
Love the new site. It looks so clean and fresh. New pup is adorable too….those ears!

Dumb question: Isn’t “The King of Fire” a prelude for BLOOD HEIR (as in part of the book, before Chapter 1)?
Amy H. says
I adore this redesign. Its fantastic.
Meli says
Nobody worry about emails, play with that puppy!
Jennifer says
Poor Quincy! He’s so precious. I hope he heals quickly.
Thank you for all the updates and the preview of Emerald Blaze. I have it pre-ordered and am very much looking forward to it.
Rena says
Very nice look on the new site. Pages load quickly and the layout is easy to navigate. I especially love the countdown timer. 🙂
Brandi has her work cut out for her it sounds like. Hopefully the new addition will end up healthy and happy soon.
Ilona says
Congratulations on the new site and sending lots of love and patience to Brandi for the puppy rescue — it will all be worth it! (I was told in rescuing not to have my husky be bored and work to get his food out of Kongs and other pushover dispensers; giving him “activities” in frozen canned pumpkin or peanut butter in Kongs w/in Amazon boxes that he could open proved to be a life saver to occupy his separation anxiety when I had to leave him at home.) Good luck!! ❤️
Greedy Guts says
The first 2 chapters of Emerald Blaze:
Holy Cow!
To heck with the preliminaries, let’s just jump right into the action!
Don’t stop to take a breath, you’ll miss it!
(“It” being the excitement, the shocks, … wow!)
I will be awaiting the book birthday with bated breath.
Katie says
Love the new design and new puppy!

Yay! Love the lion logo! Welcone back!
Carol says
My support and gratitude for rescuing such a sweet looking puppy!!!! I’m so glad he has a good home!! He looks like he has some ears to grow into.
The website looks wonderful. I especially love that the comment “button” is the first thing on the blog. I appreciate that greatly. I’m not a tech savy person but I definitely was aware of the level of work you put into your web page. Thank you!!
Jen says
The site looks great, and what a sweet pupper!
Julia says
Hi,
Please don’t leave us with these 2 chapters. Can’t we have one more… please ????
A french fan of all your saga.

Perusha Maynard says
Nice! On the website and also on Brandi’s new puppers. For the puppy chewing thing I highly recommend the y shaped Nylabone. My GSD adores it and now that she’s figured out how to crack it in 2 pieces (hide it just behind the tyre and let me drive over it, clever girl) there is more of it (her idea, not mine!)….ah, the joys of owning an 80lb brainiac!
Patricia says
Okay I’m having a blonde moment and I really believe that I have looked so I’m just going to ask.
For each book we normally have one or two chapters posted for example I believe on in replace there’s two chapters currently.
Where are they? I’ve clicked on the cover, I’ve scrolled up and down everywhere I could think of, other than the writer chapter so I can easily see them I don’t see where the posted excerpts of the books are available for any of them.
Debra K Hoffmaster says
Brandi – thank you very much for saving a life.
Nancie Secher says
Great new website.

My sister bought a dog from the pet store with a tail that was crooked for unexplained reasons. She named him “Chaucer” for his “Canterbury” tail, and he was a wonderful pet all his life. The tail doesn’t make the dog. I think Quincy needs a great big rawhide bone to chew on. He needs to chew, but he shouldn’t be chewing on shoes and floor mats.
I just hope the backyard breeder is paying fines until forever for what he did to those dogs. I absolutely loathe people who don’t take care of their animals.
The site looks good so far. I didn’t do the full cruise of it yet. But it sure came up bright and beautiful when I clicked my link to it. The other one was good, but yeah, this one might be better.
Momcat says
I seem to be at the end of a very long line, but it is never too late to say thank you. Thank you Ilona and Gordon for the pain and angst you’ve gone through to provide us with a lovely new access. And thank you so much Brandi for saving Quincy. It’s tough now. When they were little, I always wondered if my Shep. pups were going to kill me, but once one gets a handle on what you want you will have the best friend ever.
Vicki LENOIR says
The new site is lovely. The new images are wonderful; I think the Nevada and Rogan header is better than the cover art… And the preview of EB makes me wish for a time-capable remote control to fast-forward us to publication date.
Marie says
The website is great. Thanks for all your hard work and organisation. So easy to find everything. Free content, gurus, thank you.
Quincy is gorgeous. Congratulations, Brandi. Quincy already looks like he is reaping the benefits of your kindness and has settled into family life.
Roll on August for Emerald Blaze. So happy to see Catalina and Alessandro back in action. It’s going to be an emotional roller coaster. I already feel so much for Catalina. She is not going to be so happy to see Alessandro, initially anyhow. Oh the excitement…
Sneaky Augustine. Can’t wait to meet the women (I feel female) who will get his gander up. Maybe Lina; she is certainly snarky enough.
Be still my heart! The cover of Magic Stars!!! Derek, Derek, Derek…
So happy to see him with Julie. I love these two characters so much. It gives me hope to see him. Remember the other photo that some German publishing company had of Derek? Superb too.
Can’t wait for more Blood Heir and now we can read the previous posts seamlessly.
Glad it’s Saturday. It was a trying week at work dealing with different personalities, and particularly those who do not take accountability and responsibility, and plead ignorance. Hey ho, I have the weekend to reset.
IA, I hope you get some rest and relaxation. Happy weekend everyone!
Kim Stewart says
That poor skinny boy! Nothing but good times ahead for him!
Erin Valentine says
Yay, Brandi!
Joe Ellett says
Many thanks for another chapter from Emerald Blaze. Your writing just keeps getting better and better. I don’t understand how it can, since it’s already the best, but y’all manage to do it somehow.
72 days and counting.Hopefully Amazon will have it available at 00:00 EDT on the 25th, so I can get it at 21:00 on the 24th and get no sleep that night.

Wow, thank you! The new website is beautiful and it’s so much easier to find your Ryder/Blood Heir pieces. I love the lion!
Good luck with the adorable puppy. It would be tough not to fall in love. My husband tells me I am not supposed to go to the shelter without a responsible adult along. Thank you for writing Ryder. It makes the pandemic easier.
Catlover says
Two feet or four a new baby in the house upsets the balance. Everyone will adjust eventually although I do remember some chewed shoe issues that didn’t make me very happy. Oh well, the dog was a sweetheart and, like labor, you forget the annoyances when they’re gone and just remember the good stuff!
William B says
At a quick glance it looks like the Emerald Blaze model with the gun is taking a wiz. I’m sure it’s just the background colors… and maybe my almost 65 year old eyes.
Jeanine Alexander Howley says
The new site is fantastic! Thank you!
Carolin says
The new Website is really cool and I adore the lion and all those new tidbits I already found… Made my first Corona-times train journey bearable and I totally forgot the itchy mask because I was so engrossed in the Emerald Blaze preview. Ahhhhhh, Catalina is a true heroine from House Andrews. We are truly in for a treat this year, with both Julie and Catalinas stories! And I had to check the Countdown twice because I couldn’t believe it was still that long until the book is here.
In the meantime good luck with the puppy of the adorable ears, hope he will be better soon and your sleep improve.
Love the way you casually dropped Blood Heir, that is a very fitting choice.
Maureen says
Very glad you survived the transition! The new site looks terrific. Hope you are recovering with a nice glass of (fill in the blank] of your choice 🙂 Congratulations to Brandi, and bless her for adopting Quincy – best of luck!

Yay for the cutest of puppies. And the kindest of hearts.
Also, love the new look! Hope you feel it was worth all the aggravation.
Sunny says
It looks amazingly gorgeous.

Nice!
Olg says
He’s such a little cutie! Brings me back to our puppy problems.. First time adopting a dog. Tiny 12 week old puppy managed to find and swallow a bone. A whole pork rib. Cue emergency out of hours vet & operation when he wasn’t yet covered by insurance, 2k bill.
Though I have to say it was nowhere near as bad as the feelings of guilt for somehow managing to miss that! He’s all good now, no complications, we got so lucky. He’s 2 years old now and we still have to watch him like hawks when we’re out in the park..
E says
Holy cow, I couldn’t wait for Emerald Blaze, but after reading the first two chapters, no I REALLY can’t wait for Emerald Blaze! Kudoz guys, it starting out with a bang!
Kelly says
The website is beautiful!
Siobhan says
In one of his books, James Herriot brings a meddling old lady who has just lost her dog friend together with a terribly neglected puppy who needs a great deal of love and care to be healthy again. It’s one of my favorites. Oh Brandy, won’t you be a a wonder to this dog!
TJ says
Just a thank you… Pre-ordered both ebook and audio ages ago and hyperventilated with glee when I saw availability of first two chapters.
I credit the Baylors (and you both of course!) for getting me though the pandemic with sanity and smiles In tact.
Good luck with the new site and puppers, both of which are fabulous!
