Over the past few weeks, we’ve been getting random comments on different blog threads about what we might be writing next and what you want to read next. So we’re going to take the lid off this pressure cooker. Please feel free to tell us what you would like to read next from us in the comments. We can’t guarantee that we will decide to work on the book you choose, but we will take your opinions into consideration.

Thank you for interacting with the Horde.
Michelle says
Honestly, same. I’d be thrilled to have whatever strikes your fancy as something you’d really LIKE to write.
I would love to read the next adventures of any of these amazing characters, so long as writing it makes y’all feel happy and healthy. The best part about that is that the story might flow even easier and be more enjoyable for you.

I agree. I voted, but honestly reading anything written by Ilona and Gordon really makes the day better. I enjoy all the stories and characters so much!
Case in point – look at the high request for more Hugh, a villain despised roundly through several books in KD. This has been turned into a great backstory and continuing story.
Enjoy your tea and relaxation and I will happily look forward to more writing adventures!

whoop! Inn Keeper ahead(at the moment, heh). I would then vote for Hugh, followed by Arabella. Or maybe vice versa. Arabella is just such a hoot. But the “small random project” sounds intriguing, too. Write what appeals, that way you enjoy it, too.
“
Byron Matthews says
I want Iron Covenant next
Keera says
Umm I want them all.
But I chose Hugh 2 first. Just because Hugh, the cow and the boy’s appearance in Blood Heir. I want that story.
Then Inn Keeper, I am super curious about Klaus and what he needs to tell Maud.
Then Julie and Derek.
Then Arabella up next.
But I would honestly take whatever you decided to give us.
TWheels says
Yes! This order, for exactly the same reasons, lol.
JR says

Kelly says
Yep, completely agree with this order. I absolutely love Hugh and want to know more about his story.
Jo says
Saaaame! I’d love Hugh 2! 🙂
However, Ilona said Hugh 2 was super dark and she didn’t want to write it during the pandemic. I mean, we all feel her, don’t we? Unfortunately, it’s going to be another COVID winter with all the impact that has on communities. I recently stopped watching the news again because this crisis is turning people against their families and neighbors. The cost of living is on the rise, inflation is going to explode, we have energy shortages going into winter, there won’t be enough Christmas presents (apparently), people want to march against The Unvaccinated with pitch forks because it’s All Their Fault, meanwhile covid is spreading like wildfire again in numbers we haven’t seen since the last lockdowns and even though I fully expected the pandemic to be over by now, it’s anything but. Since the start of the pandemic here in February 2020, we’ve gathered with our friends maybe 3 times and I can feel the time and distance starting to erode the ties that bind us. This winter is going to be hard. Writing a dark book in a dark time can’t be good for ones mental health, so I would very much understand if Iron Covenant were shelved for a little while longer.
So even though I really want Iron Covenant, I think I could really use Julie or Arabella. (But let’s face it, we’re going to read whatever gets written anyway: BDH forever!)
Relin says
I honestly would happily and excitedly read all of these next. Whatever is the most fun for you all to write next sounds perfect! <3 I love your characters and the worlds you build!
Keith says
I really want them all. Do y’all really need to sleep?

P.S. I never sent the tea or socks, the companies did ????
necroline says
Why oh why must we choose ?? This is unbearable :'(
More seriously work on what’ll inspire you most the BDH will do as it has always done 😀
Jenny says
I voted, but to be honest, I will likely thoroughly enjoy wherever your creative process takes you.
Thank you for sharing your imaginations with us!
Cyndi says
Just get a P.O. Box and let us love you! Lol jk
I would take anything!
Claire M says
I wish I could vote twice! I voted for Inn Keeper but I would really like another kinsman book too. Really, all of them sound great. I’d be pleased with any of them ☺️
Yana says
I really want multiple choice here, so unrealistic right? But like somebody said it’s like picking a favourite child, I’ll be happy whatever you choose, but voted for Iron Covenant two, because I’m curious about how the story goes forward. It was hard and dark, to write, as I remember, but I really hope that someday I will get to find out.
Lindsay says
I voted Arabella, because I adore HL, but I would also love a Maud #2.
Kim says
Can there be an “all of the above” option? ????

Robin says
Hi! I agree with you.
Except that because we know Ruby Fever is in the pipeline, and why couldn’t Maud’s and Dina’s stories intersect enough to be written together? or as a series of installments/long short stories/novellas that flop back and forth between them? I’d gladly subscribe… I am perfectly willing to pay as you two go…
I guess I really am a member of the BDH. It was almost as bad as being asked to choose between children.
Harriet says
I love you guys, but please don’t make me choose. I want them ALL!
Emily Newman says
Anything that you want to write and share with us is a gift – let your creativity have fun ???? you’re wonderful writers and I look forward to whatever you share next

Anyone want to start book on the outcome of a Hugh vs. Arlan bout? What would a Sean/Curran team-up look like. Realities tremble as Roland and Her Grace Caldenia ka ret Magren plot together! Arabella and Helen…. Oh, the glorious possibilities!!! Much gleeful chuckling and rubbing together of hands!
Amy R says
OMG Yes. House Andrews presents: The Crossovers, short stories of their characters and their other worlds.
*cackle*
Sam says
Hahhahahaha, yes! +1 to that!

Not voting, write what won’t cause you burnout and I’ll buy it and read it and enjoy it. Happy weekend!
Dixie Rhodes says
Really, I’d go for any of the above, but I’ve been waiting so long for the next Iron Covenant!
Meg Fielding says
I can only pick one? Bummer. Ok, so I went with Hugh but I’m so glad that Blood Heir got many votes, it was my second choice.

Rosanne says
I picked “other” because I’m still hoping for a book about Augustine 😛
But you guys write what you want to write! And I will read them when they come out. 🙂
Lindsey says
I’d love Hugh 2 next, but anything you put out will be bought and devoured quickly! Write what moves you. We love it all!
Dawn Page says
Thanks for asking. Are you planning on writing all of that next year? Just because we are greedy, doesn’t mean that we have to suck all the joy out of life.
Some thing has been bothering me. When you were talking about hating ruby fever because of a decision that Catalina made, and once that you fixed that it was better. Did you hate because you had painted yourself into a corner? Did you hate the story? The character? What could they do independent of you?
I know you can’t answer this now, but someday?
Stephanie MacPherson says
I can tell you whatever you write I’m going to be thrilled and I’ll read it. Thanks for giving us a vote though!
Kath says

Christine A says
I’m very interested in reading about Julie and finding out if she runs into Red after all these years.
MichelleD says
Didn’t Red replace Bran as servant to The Morrigan?

Yup. Going to be trouble someday. He was such a scummy weasel.
Maria says
I’m greedy! I want new Hugh, new Julie, new Innkeeper! But I’m grateful for any book you decide you want to work on. Voted for Hugh though, but… will buy anything 🙂
Chachic says
It’s so hard to choose! I would read anything that you decide to write. But I voted for Kinsmen because they’re short books and so quick to reread, they’re the ones I’ve reread the most. I reread them whenever I need a quick House Andrews fix like if I’m in a reading slump or if I need a comfort read, or if I just finished the latest House Andrews title and want more.
Courtney Mincy says
I’ll read any of them. But I’m divided between Hugh2 and Julie2. ???? My first impulse is Hugh, since it’s been a while but you left us on a cliffhanger with Julie and Derek. I REALLY want to hear Julie’s next comment to Derek. Sooooo, I vote for Julie. I think. ????????

I voted for Blood Heir #2 because I had the most questions still left at the end of the book, but I’d be very happy with any of them!

Can I vote for the top three? I’m having a hard time choosing!
Ada says
I know “All of the above,” isn’t a legitimate option. But seriously any of those will be wonderful and will be happily devoured.
Baugh Barbara says
Innkeeper
Lise says
I want you to write the book that you are most excited about!
Charlotte says
So difficult to choose between Hugh and Julie. But I thought maybe with the books with Hugh you get some Julie too…
Leigh Ann Parente says
This is a bonus! I love that Julie and Hugh have a connection. I know Curran is “dad” but…thinking about Julie’s personality, Hugh is a better father figure to her. Crazy uncle.
Amanda P says
That is the hardest question to answer, there wasn’t a choice for All of the above ????
I am desperate to find our how Hugh is getting on though, so I picked Iron Covenant.
Whatever series wins, will be great to have xx
Arikaito Arikaito says
I want to say all of them but that’s not very fair to House Andrews. But I would gladly read anything and everything that they publish.
Becca Rabin says
Love any and everything you provide (and read each 10-20 times) – but I would also LOVE another Maud book 🙂
Liz says
100% SAME! Maud is awesome!!
JessicaD says
All of the above, on whatever timeline leaves you feeling creative, refreshed, and financially secure! ????????????❤️❤️❤️
Leigh Ann Parente says
I want to vote for like, all.
I voted for Hugh bc there is a vocal contingent over at Goodreads that is going to get stabby if yet another book comes out before Hugh.
I just can’t listen to them complain anymore.
Frankly – I’ll be happy no matter what. New IA is new IA. It’s going to be fun and fabulous.
Shaineinok says
All the above is sadly not an option. Seriously anything you write I’ll enjoy reading. Be well and safe. Have a wonderful holiday!
Sharon Barrett says
There are too many good choices, Ilona and Gordon. TOO MANY for my menopausal, crazed brain.
Elizabeth says
I will read whatever you write????♀️????
Brian says
After much deliberation, the order I’d like to read future offerings. Truly though, I will be excited with whatever comes, in whatever order.
1. Iron Covenant #2 (Hugh #2) *voted*
2. Blood Heir #2 (Julie #2)
3. Hidden Legacy #7 (Arabella #1)
4. Kinsmen #4
5. Innkeeper #5 (Sean and Dina #5)
Sam says
I have ways hoped for the next book after Alphas: Origin. I liked the possibilities in that world.

Laura Martinez says
All of the above?
Mary Mills says
Any one of them will do. All of them is better.
SCraft says
Innkeeper
Blood Heir
Iron Covenant
Kinsman
Hidden Legacy
Innkeeper/ Arbitrators – Klaus
In order of wants…really though, I will read anything as long as y’all write it.
Tapati says
Close tie between next Blood Heir and Arabella but will be happy to see Innkeeper and Iron Covenant as well. I think we’re all interested in how Arabella’s story will unfold. We’ve certainly gotten some interesting glimpses into how her power is more complex than Evil Grandma knows. She’s underestimated Arabella in a number of ways and it makes me wonder if that will spell her doom in the end.
I was intrigued by that snippet with Roman and his disastrous sleepover. Poor Roman can’t catch a break. I just love how his personality doesn’t match the role he’s forced to play in the family business of channeling Gods. He was so delighted to be asked to do Kate and Curran’s wedding. Anyway I just love it whenever Roman appears and his whole family is a trip.
I’d love short stories for a number of characters in each series, any you feel like writing about.
Elmarie Fryer says
+1 for short stories then we don’t have to choose 🙂
Gaëlle from France says
+ 1 too for short stories : Conlan, Roman, Augustine, Cornelius, the clan Rats (I love them), Luther. And Conlan again. I mean , this kid is just a treasure, never seen a character with so much potential !!
Melissa Lindquist says

Hi, thank you so much for reaching out to your readers. You have a great blog.
I am anxiously awaiting Iron Covenant/Hugh #2, so that is at the top of my list!
Also really looking forward to Hidden Legacy #7/Arabella and Innkeeper/Sean and Dina #5, so hopefully those will be coming soon too. ????
Also interested to read Kinsmen #4 and Blood Heir #2, but I would prioritize those behind the other 3.
Amy R says
You left off all of the above.
/Only sort of kidding. But I have patience
Claire M says
You need another option “any thing listed or otherwise” I’ll take anything you offer! But I did put my vote to Iron Covenant 2. Just barely ahead of Julie 2. It’s a tough call!
Aman Sidhu says
This is like being asked to pick one child out of 5 that you want to focus your attention on for the next year when all of them are so damn amazing. You pick. I will be happy with anything. What do you want to write?
Nina says
Whichever book makes you happy to write 🙂
Magaly says
Voted, but honestly anything you choose to write ????
Kat says
Like so many of your fans-write what moves you! We’re here for it. I said on a FB post a while ago there are three authors I just buy the books, I don’t need to know what they are about; you are at the top of that list. So whatever you write, I’ll buy. Plus I can’t decide because I like all of the series and am curious about new thing you might have in mind.
jamie says
Oof, such choices! If I absolutely had to rank them, I’d say first would be Inkeeper – what’s going on with Dina’s parents? And what about the teaser from her brother?
After that, Blood Heir (yay Julie!) probably ranks before Hidden Legacy (Arabella deserves to have her story told!) only to give you a break from HL.
Iron Covenant floats somewhere between 2 & 5. There’s probably more to tell, but it’s not as high on my wish list.
Kinsmen would be a possibility only in that it would effectively be a change in direction for House Andrews — it’s been dormant for a while, and woudl have to focus on new characters.
However, I’d happily devour anything!
Moderator R says
Hey Jamie,
Kinsmen is not so dormant ????- a new book, Fated Blades, is coming out in just 18 days, on the 23rd of November.
Here for an excerpt https://ilona-andrews.com/featured-release/
Mischa Becker says
I should know better than to read an excerpt… I’ve been patiently waiting but now I really, REALLY, want the book right now. And it’s a novella, I’m going to read it way too fast. **sob** 😀
Jamie says
Silly me. I even have it on pre-order.????
Katharina says
I voted for Blood Heir 2 but actually I’d love to read everything of the above in any order <3
Siobhan says
Exactly
Stacy McKnight says
I will gratefully read whatever you are inspired to to write. It was really hard to pick as I want them all. I picked Iron Covenant 2. I have loved Hugh D’Ambrey from his first appearance. He was a delicious villain and his redemption arc-not exactly the term I want but it’s not coming to me today- was so well written. Yum. I can’t wait to read about how he gets from where book 1 left off to where his is by Magic Triumphs and Blood Heir. If that is still too dark in tone Innkeeper 5 was my second choice lol.
Stacy says
wow – a list like this is just…mean – LOL. Seriously, I’ll anxiously await and immediately buy everything listed.
B says
Honestly I would love anything that you offer but I do miss the innkeeper posts. Since the very start the new episodes have been a bright spot in the day of release.
Brandy says
This was a hard choice!! Love everything you write so really will be happy with anything.
JenMo says
Don’t make me choose! ???? whatever, whenever I’ll be happy.
Liza says
I voted for Blood Heir #2 but honestly, I’ll happily read whatever you put out.
Linda M says
I’d love to read Maude #2
Amber says
Argh!
How in the world do I pick just one? ONE?!?!? I love all your books and I’m greedy, I want it all. I’m pretty sure I know what my hubby will pick so I’ll go with our other choice. We love you to pieces! Keep up the fabulous work on YOUR timeline (not ours), don’t worry, we’ll be patient.
DameB says
I voted for Arabella but I will happily read them all.
Debi Murray says
Although I cast my vote for the next Innkeeper, you probably should write whatever is percolating in your brain. Hugs to you both!
Amy says
First, I think it’s nice to ask us what we would like to read. Even if you don’t like what we pick, I really appreciate that you want to hear from us.
Second, I chose Innkeeper. Maybe it’s my imagination but it feels like it’s been a while since we visited this world. Also, for whatever reason, Innkeeper feels like a comfort read to me and I could use a bit more comfort in my life.
Third, I’ll read whatever you give us next 🙂

I am sad that Maud didn’t get more votes. She’s an underrated BAMF – smart AND can kick ass. Remember “ripper cushions” comes from her story line!

I chose Julie, just because it was more open ended, but Maude would be my second choice! I really enjoy her also!

Innkeeper anything. The laughter keeps me sane. A Dina/ Sean or Maud getting revenge would be so wonderful.
Tasha c says

KimberlyR says
Iron Covenent and Maud-I love all House Andrews books but those are the ones I’ve been most looking forward to.
Heather Goggin says
While I obviously want all of the things, I’m struggling really hard to choose between Hugh and Julie.
Monika says
Whatever you wish to work on, I ll follow
gingko-girl says
I voted and I guess I picked the most popular choice but honestly, I’d be happy with anything. I’m grateful for words to read.
Edi says
Umm… Nope, this is like choosing a favorite star in the sky – impossible. I’m curious about all of them, so I guess whatever you feel inspired to work on next is fine by me. 🙂
Colleen Whitley says
Decisions, decisions. Whatever you decide will be welcome. Ranking for first choice to last would have been easier than picking just one. Thanks for the opportunity to weigh in.
M says
I didn’t vote for other, because I figure if it happens it will be after the innkeeper series is finished, but I’d love to read a Helen story. Growing up in a vampire society as a half vampire and the trials and tribulations that entails. I imagine a lot of proving herself, the way maud had to, but with the added pressure of being the step daughter of the marshal
TiAnna says
So I voted for Iron Covenant but um… I’ll take one of each please! ????????????
Kelly says
This is why HA is the best.
Smmoe1997 says
While I would love to ask for the next Hidden Legacy novel, that doesn’t seem fair to you guys. It seems like you deserve a break from that world. I voted for blood heir, but I will be happy with whatever you choose to write, I haven’t read a bad book from you, so I know that what you choose to write will still be a great read.
Barbara says
it’s so hard to choose. I want them all!
wont says
I hope this isn’t a lightning rod, but, if Arabella gets a trilogy, will that be the end of Hidden Legacy? And just to light the fuse, there are so many wonderful characters in this series. The BDH would love to read more of them.
Moderator R says
???? I don’t know the answer, but this made me laugh. Remember when the end was Wildfire? ???? The BDH didn’t let that happen hehe.
Patricia Schlorke says
Nope. To quote the song “I Want It All” by Queen: “I want it all. I want it all. I want it all, and I want it now.” That’s the Horde in one chorus of the song. ????????????
Booksdarling says
Tricksy question requires tricksy thinking. May need to log on from multiple devices so I can vote for each one. 😀
Seriously. Write what brings you both joy. It comes through in your books, and we will love it for that.
Norbert says
Aargh! Impossible choice… decision circuits overheating…
***System Crash***
Reboot…
I want Innkeeper (Blade) first, because this world is without update the longest. I slightly prefer Maud, because I fear that the next Dinah book will finish the story arc (and then we get no new Innkeeper anymore).
Kelly says
I would love to see another Innkeeper installment. Rereading now, and I just love this series. Great world and character building!
Dorn Hetzel says
Either Innkeeper series!
Laurie Brown says
Lol! It was hard to vote but the results showed my top 3 as the top 3! I voted even though I agree with most that I would read anything you write.
sandra l says
I selected one topic, but I really would like to see you write all of these. 🙂
Amanda H says
Where is the “all of the above” button?!!Love you guys, so I’ll take whatever you give!
But seriously, I hope you can enjoy making your art in the way that it moves you rather than letting the pressure of our greed make it feel like a chore.
Maria says
Why ??!!?? Why is there no “all of the above” button?? ????????????
Such a load of choices.
Honestly any of them will be fab!
Mathew says
1. Arabella, Lol i think i want this more than even Ruby Fever.
2. Blood Heir 2.
3. Hugh 2.
4. A fifth book in the Edge series, cause i was always a little disappointed that it only had four books.
5. Curiosity has me wondering what you guys could do with a High fantasy sword and sorcery kind of story.
6. Do you know anything about cultivation or LitRPG stories? that seems like it would be fun to see your take.
Sam says
Ooh, I would love #5 on this list…
Maria-Christine Gonsalves says
sigh I can not pick one
Tracey says
I am happy with anything you write I will read with greed ????
Myra says
JuliexDerek = <3333 They give me life.
Karen says
You could literally rewrite the phone book and it would be so good I would devour it!
Rosie Cantrell says
You needed any of the above. I want any if it. I love them all. ????????
mykia says
oh dear, decisions, decisions..
INNKEEPER…
thanks for asking 🙂
Nancy C. says
Dina is my favorite. I find her to be the most relatable. I voted for: Innkeeper #5 (Sean and Dina #5)
but at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter too much what I want to see next because whatever it is you all decide to write is whatever I will read and purchase. I am just grateful and excited to read your work 🙂
Danielle Chapman says
You forgot – “all of the above!”
LOL! JK!
I honestly don’t care. You write it – I read it!!
Lori says
Yes, I want them all, but in light of your problems finishing something you don’t have the heart for, I want you to write what you are inspired to write. I believe that will create a better story, and I do want the story to be a good one.
I’m intrigued by Hugh’s home life and want to see more of it. I’m annoyed by the way blood heir finished- really hope this isn’t a misunderstanding story, but I thought Derek was braver/more straight-forward/grown-up than what he has exhibited. Really looking forward to the fun of making Arabella into a responsible (?) grownup from where she is now. Dina & co are happy at the inn, so I’m happy to let them rest awhile, but am curious about parents & Klaus.
So you see, anything you write should make me happy!
Taylor says
Hey Lori,
In reply to your Derek comment, I totally agree. I thought he’d go about it in a more mature way but I’m now thinking that his reaction really reaffirms the fact that love can make a fool out of anyone.
ML says
I had voted but….I would read anything from you guys!!!!!
Sam says
I feel like I know that Dina and Sean are settling in to their new life as Innkeepers together, and Maud is whipping House Krahr into shape. I can safely leave them be, to get on with their lives in a little bit of peace & stability.
Julie is the one who has an unresolved arc for me. What has she become, and where has Derek been, and what has he become, and how is Ascanio, and argh, so many delicious questions and possibilities.
Also, just in case you didn’t already have too much on the list, I really would love an offer offshoot where someone special gets to see Roman in (or out) of his Eyore pyjamas.
I’d also like to see what the world holds for Jack (and George, and Sophie).
But Julie first, please and thank you.
Lisa DiMarino says
Sophie’s Choice!!! Thank you for making the world a little brighter ❤️
Kat in FL says
This was a difficult poll! I chose Hugh #2 over Arabella #1 because the need to know what happens next for Hugh and Elara has been simmering in me for longer than my need for Arabella’s story. But if we could have picked order like a ranking, I would have said Hugh, then Arabella, Maud, Dina, Kinsmen, Julie.
I love everything y’all write so I’ll be happy either way.
Maria says
All of the above 🙂
Faye says
Oh my Gosh! You’re the very best authors of the world (or universes, in that case 😉 ) I have read a lot of authors and books in my live, but never ever encountered one who would even remotely take into consideration what the fandom is thinking.
And despite I have chosen one of the available, I would be gladly happy to read just everything you publish.
(Sorry for bad grammar and misspells.)
Thanks for all your efforts, work and books!
Beth says
I need to know what Claus is going to tell Maud and who Sebestian North actually is!
Kayeri says
Um… ::studying list:: YES!
Seriously, such a hard choice, I can’t bring myself to choose Arabella because RF was so hard on both of you. Maud would be an upper tier choice, so would Elara. Honestly, though, any of them would be great. =)
Sarah says
Julie x Derek
Arabella
Iron Covenant
In that order
<3
Jana says
This seems to be the question of the day. Thanks for asking. You all really do have the power to give me what I want. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
DeeAnn says
I chose Hugh because I think that I have been waiting the longest for that book but I love the Innkeeper so would also choose all of those offered and of course Julie and Arabella are also anticipated. Since you have a Kinsmen universe coming out in a few weeks I can wait for book 4 but would also love that. So, yes, I want them all! Thank you for asking and know how much I love all your books!
Jan says
Of the ones listed my first choice would be Blood Heir 2, mostly because I want to know all the things about the world outside of Atlanta.
My first choice wasn’t listed, alas, which is a second book for Maud and Arland. More romance while figuring out Space Vampire politics, inlaws and interspecies politicking!! So many interesting steps were taken for their corner of space, I would love to see more follow-up.
Moderator R says
Maud 2 is listed in the poll ????
Stacy says
Of all the things driving me crazy, the Innkeeper mystery is the biggest. Parents…where?!?!??! And I adore Maud and Arland, they are so much fun.
Claire says
I’d have totally gone for the any of the above option if it was there 😀
Lisa Hoffman says
I would love to have another book based in the Edge. I miss our swamp rats.
Elena says
Yes! I started with The Edge & still miss them. Especially Jack & George. I was so glad to see them pop up in Innkeeper.
Elena says
Yes! I started with The Edge & still miss them. Especially Jack & George. I was so glad to see them pop up in Innkeeper. Plus, we might hear how the others are doing. Are Cerise & William still spying? Has Audrey kept Kaldar on the straight & narrow? Did Rose & Declan have kids?
How lucky are we that all these book possibilities are on the list!?! Any order, anytime. I’ll simply reread the series before each one comes out ????
Anna Pollok says
All of the above?
Pretty please ????
Barbara Cunningham says
All of the above, please, in what ever order is best for you. Thanks.
Apolo says
Damn i was really looking forward to Innkeeper-Blade #2 (Maud #2), from that poll it would seem better not to hold my breath waiting for it.
mj says
me too. that was at the top of my list, but I can take me some Hugh as well. I likes ’em dark I does.
mj says
I was hoping for ranked choice. 🙂
Kim says
I’ll honestly read anything y’all write. No pressure whatsoever. I’m a little terrified that too much pressure will cause you to retire early.
Mike says
Like the rest of the BDH I want them all or we’ll most but let’s try and whittle the list down
Kinsmen#4 out as not read all the others yet
Hidden Legacy #7 out as whilst I’d love this book Ruby Fever needs to come first in my head
Blood Heir #2 out as had a fix not so long ago
Humm now innkeeper all depends on what story if Innkeeper #5 is wrapping up the main story I’d want Innkeeper Blade #2 first lol
But after all that I think I’m left with Hugh#2 as I really enjoyed that story and want more and whilst I know why it’s been on hold I really want to read more.
Mike says
But you know what I’d really hate is for you to have an amazing idea for a book and put it on a back burner cause you think we need X first because of the poll.
Most importantly you need to have a good story in your head but I’m guessing you wouldn’t have given us a choice if you didn’t have a story possibility percolating in those brains of yours for each mentioned!
Carol J Southard says
Although I did vote (Iron Covenant Book 2), I will be happy with whatever you choose, in whichever order it comes out. You guys are one of my favorite, buy-it-whatever-it-is, authors. Thank you for the many hours of reading, and re-reading, entertainment! 🙂
Tiffany Crystal says
My vote went for something not listed above. What I want you to write next is whatever project is making your muse rub their hands together and cackle like the evil genius that it is. I have yet to be disappointed by what you’ve all put out, and I doubt that will change, so write whatever makes you happy next, and I’ll have my finger ready to smash that ‘preorder’ link as soon as you post it.
Myra says
I’ve honestly been waiting for Julie’s story since 2015 so I feel like it’s a natural #1 pick XD
Raith says
Wow, 1.8k votes and there’s 4 options near(ish) to 20%.
You guys write too many excellent series!
Momo says
Just how am I supposed to chose? Well, I will put in my two cents and just wait for the next book whichever it is ????
Sheena says
Ugh! This was hard! I was caught between Hugh 2, Julie 2, and Arabella 1. Finally settled on Hugh 2.
Julia says
You write it, we’ll read it.
Though if we are picking, Innkeeper anything would be my first choice!
Drew says
You all had a snippet a few years back about a woman who arrived on a new planet as a “cleaner” (she goes in, no one else comes out kind of thing) and when she gets there the duchess/regent/leader co-ops her for her personal staff. That was the end of the snippet but it has always stuck in my head as “what happened next?”
I know you have a ton of stuff already working, but if you ever wanted to run off in a new direction I’d love to know what happened in that universe.
JB says
Yes, this! I loved that snippet and always hoped Nalini the cleaner (and Emilia the monsoon) might eventually get a book.
Sara T says
Touch choice! If there was an All of the above option I’d choose that. ????
Jill says
Not fair having to choose just one. I voted but will be happy with whatever you decide to write next.
Reilly says
I picked Dina & Sean, but honestly, I will read & love whatever you write! I love your writing. Thank you! ????
Kim says
After much consideration????, my preferred order is:
Maud 2
Heir 2
Hugh 2
Innkeeper 5
Hidden legacy 7
Kinsmen 4
Alina says
Hugh2.
The first book was there for me in a very hard time of my life. It allowed me to escape reality and gave me a warm embrace I very much needed to go on. Ever sense, I re-read it frequently and its my source of personal empowerment. Its not only the moral or the plot or how ‘real’ the characters are (yes yes, magic, fiction but they are REAL to read in every sense of the word), but its the way it makes me feel.
But to be totally honest, I would read anything you can give us. A grocery list. A note to the kids teacher. Hell, Ill take anything.
Valerie says
+1
Siobhan says
I HAVE TO PICK *ONE*??
Ok. We haven’t gotten Catalina #3 yet. So I’ve voted for Hugh #2 instead of Arabella #1. Also, I know you said you got your HL joy back, but still, maybe a break is still good?
So AFTER Hugh, uhm. Anything Innkeeper is ALSO good. Everything is good! But I feel I’ve waited longest for Hugh 2.
Maia says
That was too hard. ???? Why just one? ????
I would love to read new story but at the same time I want open series to end and I am always so happy with Dina&Sean stories cause crazy amazing (fluffy) ideas from all over the – all? ???? But Maud&Arland style of doing things ????????????????????
Too hard. TOO HARD!!!
Kate says
I also want all of them (greedy) But if I have to choose, for me it comes down to the “hanging” stories –
Blood Heir 2 – what’s up with Derek?and is he staying? How would he manage that?
Inkeeper Blade 2 – Klaus?!?Is he there because of her ad-hal powers or something else?
Katarzyna Kowalska says
It’s like having me choose my favorite child!
JB says
I’ll be honest, it was impossible to choose. I would read anything listed above, including something new. I can’t even say I’d be more or less excited about whatever the project ends up being: standard reaction to release news is excitement no matter what. 90% sure I’ll be pre-ordering whatever the new project is
Clare says
I looked at the poll and couldn’t help but think that all of those books are things that people will want to read. Or at least I would love to read.
It really speaks to the talent of I&G that they have created so many robust characters, enthralling worlds and page turning books that their audience is torn between which ones they want to read next.
I think I&G should write what makes them happy after the slog of Ruby Fever. I look forward to reading whatever wonderful adevnture they create for us.
Sara B. says
What do I want to read from “Ilona Andrews” … anything.
Really, no preference … it all sounds great. Whatever inspires you or interests you to write. On the survey in the blog, there was no “all of the above” button.
On that note: 17 days to Fated Blades!
Patty says
I will be grateful for whatever you feel like writing. By the time it is ready I will be done with my dissertation defense – scheduled for one week from tomorrow – and be ready to read anything but my own datasets and writing.
Right now I am on day 3 of editing my presentation and honestly I do not think I have the capacity to think about which one I would like more.
At the same time, this is kind of like asking me if I prefer chocolate or dark chocolate or fudge or reeses – I love them all!
Buckaroo says
Congratulations almost Doctor!
Hang in there for a few more days and try to do some normal things, like sleeping and eating. You’re almost there!
PS – I hope you can schedule some much-needed down time after.
Tina says
This was the most difficult poll ever.
Angela Knight says
I know, right? Though I’d love to get Hugh after Julie.. still, whatever they do, I’ll love. Pretty much always do.
MacGrani says
You all write, I buy and then I get to read, read again and read some more!
Angela Knight says
That’s pretty close. At least you know we’re crazy about just about everything you do. We ain’t the BDH for nothin’.
Angela says
Every single one on this list made me excited. I literally don’t know how to choose. I will honestly be happy with any choice y’all make.
Though Iron and Magic has been my comfort read for the couple years – I’ve read (and listened) to it about a dozen times per year.
Sophie says
Okay, I voted but want to come down here and clarify that I will read any/all of the above 🙂
I voted for Blood Heir because I need to know what happened to Derek and adult Julie brings me great joy. However, I am dying for a second Maud book. I love Dina and Sean, but Maud makes me happy. I love the way she thinks.
Also, I will happily read an Arabella book. But I don’t want to get greedy since RF is coming out next year.
Basically what I’m trying to say is that yes I voted but wherever your heart leads you is what I’ll be extremely happy to read next. Thanks for writing great books 🙂
Katrina Snyder says
I voted for Julie #2, but Hugh #2 is a very close runner-up! I’d also love to read Arabella #1, but after working so hard for so long on Ruby Fever, House Andrews REALLY deserves a break from writing that world. Oh well, I’ll wait patiently and read it whenever it comes out.
Mysticrose says
I love them and would happily read any of them but anything Innkeeper is my first love and my vote reflects that. 🙂 Hope you’re all taking a well deserved rest after sending in Ruby Fever.
Lauren says
I love that there are six beautiful storylines to choose but it’s so hard to choose 1, my top 3
1) Blood Heir
2) Iron Covenant – I miss Hugh and Elara!
3) Kinsmen
Barbara Ann Erwin says
Oh my. I’ve spent a few minutes trying to decide. I’d love Arabellas story or more Julie or more Innkeeper the most.
Margarida says
It goes without saying that I really need blood heir sequel.
Having said that, I am fairly new to the Innkeeper’s world, but I do find myself re reading Maud’s story over and over again. It has become one of my comfort reads.
The idea of a sequel has made me extraordinarily happy, beyond all expectations really.
Roger Thomas says
That last paragraph in Sweep of the Blade keeps haunting me. Arbitrator and brother. Wow. And the cat with the suggestive collar earlier. Willing to wait for the next Innkeeper, but hopefully not years.
Thanks.
Maggie says
Julie. I want more Julie. I am chanting for Julie. But I will love whatever you two release and I am very very very excited for any or all of it. Hugh? Yes please. Dina? Yes please. Helen? Absolutely. Arabella omfg yes. Kinsmen? Yes. All of it ? Yes. Any of it? Yes. See there is a theme.
Yes, please. Thank you.
Zirraella says
Nooo, so many choices!
Voted for Hugh though, bacause Hugh.
Nancy Reed says
So hard to only choose one! I love all your books. I am particularly fond of the Innkeeper series – it leads to so many possibilities in my own imagination, and I would love another Maud / Helen book ( Helen!!!). However I voted for Iron Covenant because the Hugh character also speaks to me and I’m curious about the white witch. I look forward to each and any new release, whatever you write I will read!
Audrey says
Very appreciative of all your work. Whatever you write, I am more than happy to read. ❤️????
Sabby says
I cant with this list. How are we supposed to choose?? HOW? This is like asking a mom which child is her favorite. *cry* sigh… I love House Andrews so much.
Debra Henn says
SUCH a hard question????. I did finally choose Blood Heir 2 but would be thrilled to see what Hugh, the Innkeeper group, or the Baylors are up to. How is every single series you people write so amazing? I also would love to see more with George, Jack, and Sophie. ????. I will, however, like the rest of the BDH, wait more or less patiently for whatever you are moved to write next.
Trish Wendell says
It’s like choosing your favourite child… I want all of them!!
Devoted Reader says
Iron Covenant #2
I know you said it was dark, but getting through the darkness brings us to the light.
If the emotions are still running to close on that one
Klaus’s story from Clean Sweep would be my 2nd choice.
Oksana P. says
It was REALLY hard choice! Lol I love all of them. Blood heir and Sean and Dina were number one for me, but I choose Inkeeper because it’s been a while and I miss them ????
Mary says
Now I’m feeling bitter. I think everyone should have voted exactly like me, lol. Team Arabella!!!
Karen Cunningham says
What ever strikes your creative fancy is fine with me!
Thomas Coakley says
As a web developer, it is very hard not to cheat on this and vote a bunch of times. I will read anything you write, but Hidden Legacy is magically delicious!
Susan says
Honestly…. I am happy with whatever you decide to write. I love them all. I only know which one I would not vote for right now is Iron Covenant #2 because you said it is darker. I would love and enjoy it, but I am still very sad about real life things, so trying to focus on happy and positive
After the last two years… right now I’d say write what is most healthy for you if you can.
Debs says
Love them all but very curious about Hugh’s story.
He’s such a lovable, cuddly character ????
Mollster says
I will HAPPILY and GRATEFULLY read whatever you write. If that encompasses a phone book, I’m sure it would be novel, intriguing, absorbing, and humorous.
I voted Innkeeper re lost parents cause they are missing so much of their children’s lives and especially their grandgirl.
Thankful for everything you’ve already written.
PS: I’m 74, so write fast, I need to get some resolution before before my last days!
Sharon Leahy says
Hi Mollster, I’m 74 too, and the Innkeeper and Hidden Legacy series are the most fun I’ve had reading fantasy in my entire life — and I started with Asimov when I was around 10 !!! Smiles to you, Mollster, it’s fun to “meet” another sassy old babe who enjoys these stories.
kommiesmom says
I am only 72, but I really hope to read all the choices here and at least a few more.
(The folks that run the payout on my IRA think I can make 87. I plan to beat that.)
Every one of the choices was something I am desperate to read. If the entire list were available tomorrow, I’d hurt myself buying them as fast as I could…
I picked what I thought might be the most difficult to manage plot. Finding a guy for Arabella has got to a bit of hard work.
I started reading SF/F with Andre Norton and Heinlein juveniles. Asimov was in the adult section, and I didn’t get to check those out until I was 11.
Glad to know you, Mollster, and Sharon, too. The over the hill portion of the BDH is now in session.
Judy Siudzinski says
I’m 76 and am also part of the Over-the-Hill BDH. Have been reading sci-fic since a young girl. Now Alona Andrews is my favorite author. Have all their books and short stories. Just reread Innkeeper series so voted for Dina/Sean book, but have loved every series. I will read whatever they choose to write. Thanks House Andrews for all your wonderful worlds.
Anthea says
Just as a note, even though I’d be *most* excited about Arabella #1, I would read and enjoy any of the options on offer!
Naenae says
How about a short story about space chickens or intergalactic trader who has a 40 foot cargo container of rare tea show up on their tent step and needs to get rid of it.
A short story in hidden legacy would be cool and fun.
Gem says
I’m totally happy with anything but preference on Julie or Hugh!!
Angela Brewer says
Actually all of the above is more accurate for me so anything you do will make me happy
April White says
I will happily read anything you want to write. I’m super excited for more Julie and OMG Arabella. But, I also desperately want more Hugh, Maude and well basically, I honestly want all the books. Thank you for creating characters and books that I love.
Rita Beezley says
Hugh!
Sharon Leahy says
Smiles, I’ll never get enough of Innkeeper … any branch of the family, and the same with Hidden Legacy … I am so impressed with the depth and complexity of those story lines … Sweep in Peace has to be one of the all time best novels ever written. Namaste’, beautiful minds, enjoy your rest and relaxation, treat yourselves well, and follow your joy.
KC says
more Roman I ♡ that volhv.
Also next Maud and next Julie
Emily says
+1.
I searched the comments for “Roman”. 11 hits. Glad to have company!
Although I would rank Derek, I mean Julie, barely over Maud but let’s be honest, it’s really about Helen. I love that kid.
KC says
It is the ripper cushions of being so cute. Helen is awesome.
But see you get Derek with Julie, so next Julie should mean Derek too ^_^
Craig says
My vote is:
Arabella – I just can’t wait to see House Andrews explore and flesh out her metamorphosis powers and her “hidden secondary power” if she has one as her sisters do, or “double” as Rogan called it. What I’m assuming will be multiple love interests competing for the brainy, petite, debate club tormenting blonde and seeing how her nephew grows. Catalina having a kidlet/wedding while maybe Nevada has kidlet #2 who is totally different in powers than kidlet #1, maybe the hinted at love interest for Grandma Freda and continued exploration mom’s and Bernardo’s (Heart’s) budding “something fragile.” I also really want to see Arabella’s turn at a confrontation with the Maderos family.
Followed by Julie #2 and then the dark and grim Iron Covenant #2
Robin says
I still think that a Madero will come courting Arabella. So far they would not know of her superpower, but wouldn’t Grandpa Madero want some Baylor genes in the family? He’s all about the strength and so far they been regularly defeated by Baylors and those the Baylors have chosen. From the uninformed outside Arabella looks as if she should be “easy to manage” and a quick way to join the alliance of the Baylor, Rogan, Harrison, Etterson, and Tremaine Houses.
That metamorphoses would happen when that Madero gets handsy. Chortling here.
Kitty says
Definitely Maud’s story for me. Very much looking forward to it.
Would be happy about Iron Covenant but I think you have said that will be a sad/heavy book? Not sure that would be my first choice at the moment.
Really looking forward to Arabella’s story but as we will get a book in that series next it may not be as urgent. Also, assuming you would like to have a bit of a change.
I haven’t read Blood Heir 1 yet so not as urgent to get the second book in the series (Can’t read Blood Heir until I read the last Kate Daniels. I have that one but kind of have to reread the whole series first because it has been a while but I am not sure where I put the first couple of (pre-kindle) books in the series and am too cheap to rebuy)
Tasha A says
Yeah I agree on the sad/ heavy book. Not sure I could handle that right now.
Would I read it anyway? Probably!
Mariana Chaffee says
all of the above… and maybe a glimpse of George and Jack, and Dina’s brother, and bring her parents home…..
and… and… and…
oh, heck, whatever makes you happy to write, because that will flow smoothly and fast.
Stephanie says
Choosing is like choosing my favorite kid. I almost spazzed out!!! 🙂
Dianne Lawson says
I really like Julie and I’m interested in her story but the bad guy is so evil, I find reading the story to be too upsetting. It’s silly I know but there it is. I still want to know what happens so if you ever publish a cliff notes for the faint of heart, I will definitely get it.
Lupe says
Honestly, whatever you want to write. Hugh is probably last on my list because I don’t have much capacity for darkness right now. And my attention span is not at it’s strongest. Short and light and hopeful gets my vote. (:
Liz says
Thank you for asking. I would like to read Innkeeper 5 next. Blessings to you and yours!
Tom says
I’d be happy with anything – so a ‘you choose House Andrews’ option would’ve been the one I’d’ve picked!
Although… I admit to wondering what happened to Charlotte & Sophie between the end of Steel’s Edge & when George collected Sophie with Dina! Or even afterwards! Short Story/Drabble/Easter egg in another book?
George G says
Blood Heir with Iron Covenant a distant second. I could be wrong but feel like Hugh 2 is going to be dark.
Pamela says
1. Blood Heir #2 (Julie #2)
2. Innkeeper #5 (Sean and Dina #5) and Innkeeper-Blade #2 (Maud #2)
3. Hidden Legacy #7 (Arabella #1)
4. Something not listed above – Wishlisting sequel stories for “A Mere Formality”
5. Iron Covenant #2 (Hugh #2) – kinda dreading this given comments on how dark it will be…though I do want to read it.
6. Kinsmen #4
Lisa says
Sweet!
Thank you for even asking …
Enjoy the Holidays ???? ???? !
????
Marilyn says
Iron Covenant #2 and Blood Heir #2 are both dear to my reading heart. Don’t make me choose. Please.
Cheryl Tittle says
What an amazing choice! Like being let loose in a candy store and told you can only have one item. I first think Sean and Dina because that was my first exposure to the writings and remains one of my all time favorite series. But then I want to know what Klaus has to tell Maud too… and I want to know what is going to happen to Julie and what will happen when Kate meets her… and what is going on with Arabella and the whole gang. You have created not just amazing worlds and societies, but also wonderful and interesting people that I’m emotionally invested in their happiness and success. Thank you so much for these friends I’ve found!
Ioanna says
I can’t wait for Julie, so Blood Heir it is!! Tough choice though!
Jenny says
Thanks for the opportunity to vote, but whatever you feel like writing will bring me/us joy. Thanks also for working so hard on Ruby Fever! I’m really excited for that one!
Stephanie says
Please write whatever will bring you the most joy! I deeply love every single thing you write, I re-read part or all of each of your series at least once a year, and would pre-order anything with your name on it even if I had absolutely no idea what it was going to be about. I voted for Arabella because I just finished re-reading HL #1-5 yet again and I am so excited to see what happens in her story (trilogy, I hope!). But my first priority, far above my desire for any particular story, is for you to continue enjoying what you do so that you never stop–I want to have new IA books to buy for years (hopefully decades!) to come 🙂
AL says
Blood Heir!! The action, the angst, that cliffhanger. Everything you write is amazing but I’ve been waiting for Derek and my girl Julie to get theirs since 2015 and I CANNOT WAIT. Innkeeper 5 is a close second though. Dina is also my girl and Orro is ????.
TJ says
Please write whatever your muse tells you to write. I will read anything and I prefer for you not to stress yourselves out writing something that isn’t calling to you at the moment. 🙂
Rufina says
Hugh. Definitely Hugh.
I would like to know what happens to Deirdra and Erawan :))))
Gaëlle from France says
Erawan was the God elephant, right ? He is free now.
I would like to know what happens to Stoyan and Johanna !!! There was something here ????
Rufina says
More of Stoyan and Johanna, of course.
But I have a feeling we just might get lucky enough to have a glimpse at the now-free god elephant as well 🙂 It would be awesome :))))
Of course I will read all of the above, but Hugh’s story has been unfinished for soooo long… and I have re-read it soooo many times.
And I feel Hugh and Elara really deserve their happy ending -they have been through so much 🙂
Also, unfortunately for me, my brain just cannot let go, I keep speculating what happens next :)))))
Carly-Michelle says
I really don’t care which one it is I’d be excited for all of them.
June says
I really loved your work over a long series with Kate Daniels. HL is similar since it is at least in the same family (but I must say I could read 10 books focused on Nevada and Rogan). It is so fun to see the character growth and relationship changes over time and events, plus you write it very well. I would love to see more of that!
Above all though, write what you want because we will read it!
June says
And by “more of that” I mean anything in a longer series, not more KD or 7 more books of Nevada and Rogan (I’m not delusional, I promise!) ????
Erin says
I will literally be happy with any of these options.
Anthony says
I think we need ranked choice voting(I’m joking, I don’t want to make more non writing work for anyone). That way I could pick them all.
Tiffany Higgins says
Innkeeper followed by Iron Covenant. I re-read Innkeeper when I’m sad and it helps.
Rachel says
That was a very difficult choice as I wanted to vote for multiples simultaneously. I plumped fro Hugh as he’s waited the longest. My other top votes were a Continuation of Julie’s story, and an Arabella story (I sense foundations being laid in Emerald blaze.). It’ll be interesting seeing the Andrews team rise to the challenge of a male lead who can handle Arabella as she’s such a strong character
Rufina says
Oh, I think it is entirely possible that Arabella would fall for someone quieter. A sort of introvert. Someone whose strength is a very different kind of strength than hers.
I cannot imagine her happy with someone like herself- they would quarrel all the time :))))
But I might be wrong of course :)))))
Patsy Tisdale says
I can’t vote. Sorry – too close to call. I want almost everything.
Tina says
Thank you. Your writing and blog posts have kept me sane in a very rough 18 months. I always know that I can come here for a laugh, or a good cry. I have read and re-read every one of your books so many time I have lost count. Whatever you decide to write next I promise will be consumed just as eagerly.
Judy R. says
Although I did vote for Blood Heir, I love everything you write and am grateful for any publications. Thank you for sharing your skills and imagination with us.
Niamh says
Would love Hugh’s book, would kill for another Innkeeper and can somewhat patiently wait for Arabella’s story! Would also love to send you all snacks for writing but I guess I’ll telepathically send you good vibes instead! Xx
Kaye Hampton says
Kate Daniels’ world was the first series I read from you, and it has a big hook in me.
I’ll read anything you write, but I will always want more of Kate, even if she’s just mentioned in passing.
Susan Young says
I can’t vote! I’m happy with anything you write next!
Julie says
I voted on my top pick but would be happy with any of them…or anything else you want to write.
Laurel says
Wow! This is an amazing list of possibilities and it’s near impossible to choose (though, of course I still voted!) You are so kind to give us a glimmer of hope that these projects are possibilities.
Whatever you decide will be the right one – and I appreciate all your efforts and interactions. I wonder what YOUR heart is telling you to work on next… which piques your interest at the moment… ? Whatever it is, that’s what you should do. You literally cannot go wrong.
LGF says
Any of the above, but really, whatever grabs you both and causes least amount of stress.
Thank you for everything.
Nean says
I love any and all of those. But i would adore a book of short stories.
I want to know about Barnabas and Christopher deciding to adopt.
A story about Dina’s parents meeting. How was he trapped in an inn?
Baby B growing up and dating. While her parents go nuts. Or just more about those kid’s adventures.
More about Saimin’s cousin
Jim as the Beast Lord. Heavy is the head… ????
Ruth says
Whatever you feel best works for you. I read everything you have published. You might have contract obligations to meet first, then you have your mental and emotional state to consider.
I love your books and the characters you create.
Amelia says
I may have voted for kinsmen, but I am happy with whatever comes next.
Roger says
You write something that makes you happy. I pay money to buy it. Rinse and repeat. That easy.
Lisa says
I love this!
Patricia Schlorke says
When I saw the choices, I did a mental coin flip after I saw no all the above. ::peeks around the corner to hide before the stink eye hits::
My mental flip was between Julie or Hugh. Julie won because I want to find out what Derrick saw after eating the Sphinx’s heart. Plus, reading about executing evasive maneuvers was hilarious in Blood Heir.
Nelson Wood says
Innkeeper, Please!
Natasha says
Would love to read Iron Covenant #2 . Loved the first book and it would be nice to read the rest of them. You are amazing writers and thank you so much for writing awesome books for us to read
Sandra says
Uh… /Looks at poll/ Whatever you guys feel like writing? I see no bad choices here.
Elenariel says
Can we have a Sean&Dina 5 with a lot of Helen thrown in?! ????
All of the others are a fair “second” option too!
Thank you for putting up with us ????
a says
asking me to choose just one is meannnnnn – I would have liked to have a first choice, 2nd choice thing LMAO. Anyway, I will be reading anything you put out so I am not worried about it.
Lisa says
I wish it would have been a rank order poll (where each respondent puts the list in order of preference top to bottom). It is too hard to choose just one. They are all very good and I would try any new book these authors write. I was disappointed to see Hidden Legacy so far down the list.
Heather says
I want Blood Heir like I want to breathe, but I also absolutely love Hugh and Elara and that would be first chronologically and would fill in some blanks.
That said, if this was a question of whether or not I want an Arabella arc at all it would be a hard yes, it’s just 3rd on my priorities for when
Katie Woody says
Hugh or Julie, please and thank you!
AnnFlo says
omg
It’s such a tough choice! Picking one feels like betrayal of the rest of them.
I’ll take whatever You’d offer
Trisha says
We can pick only one?? I really don’t care. I will read whatever you put out there.
Kate Zadoo says
I would be happy with anything you want to write. No pressure at all!
Eben Gay says
It must feel daunting to have started so many wonderful stories and now to have so many people clamoring for more on every single one of them!
Thank you for continuing with whichever you pick ’cause I’m waiting for them all! (though, of course, if it were Iron Covenant #2 or Blood Heir #2 that would be amazing : -).
Taylor says
Thank you for the survey! Im so happy Bloor Heir got so many votes. I need to know what happens with Julie and Derek. I can’t take not knowing what’s going to happen. Will they? Won’t they? Please have mercy. I need a sign.
Angela says
While Sean and Dina are my absolute fav. I will honestly be thrilled with anything you decide to write. I just love your storytelling style and go back to reread everything I already own from you at least twice a year. I just hope you continue to write for many years to come. Wishing you all the best and a cooperative Muse.
Pam Roberts says
Darn! I voted for Hugh before I saw Arabella’s book. I love the Hidden Legacy series.
I would have picked Arabella (1) if I had seen it. Hugh and Julie are tied for me.
It’s so hard to pick just one. You guys write it, I’ll read it.
Martha says
I voted, but don’t really care what comes next. I will read any (and all) of them!
William H says
I voted for more Inkeeper, but honestly any of it. I will read whatever new thing you’ve got coming out.
Ona J. Bass says
Iron Covenant #2 (Hugh #2)
Innkeeper #5 (Sean and Dina #5)
Blood Heir #2 (Julie #2)
Hidden Legacy #7 (Arabella #1)
Kinsmen #4
Innkeeper-Blade #2 (Maud #2)
Something not listed above ———–> All of the above? But that is not useful.
Therefore, in order of preference: Iron Covenant #2. It might be dark, but it has been waiting in the wings forever.
Innkeeper #5: It would be nice to hear more about Sean and Dina. The Innkeeper books are generally homelike and friendly. Good balance to Iron Covenant.
Hidden Legacy #7: It is time for Arabella to have her book.
And finally, Julie #2. I would purchase and read a Kinsman. Maud is OK, but I like Helen a lot better. I will grant that it would be difficult to have a whole book about such a young girl, but I found her a lot more interesting than her mother.
onehsancare says
My thoughts almost exactly, but I’d prefer the Innkeeper to come first–I guess I need some cozy!
Lizzy says
Difficult choice. I mean, of course I want all of them, but which one *next* became a tie for me with Julie and Maud. I chose Maud since it’s been longer since she’s been out.
Jess says
Like everyone else, I want everything! Though I’ll settle with whatever you guys decide. I love all the series!
Christine McCann says
Ooh, a deep bench of good series! Tough to choose, but Innkeeper – Blade #2 edged out Iron Covenant #2 by just the slimmest margin.
Raina says
I’m so torn! I’d love to read more innkeeper and hidden legacy!!!
Alex says
An Adira Kline book ! Her story & world is too interesting to leave to the shadows of the unexplored! Is there any hope for this incredible & noble warrior?
Sam says
Yes! An Adira Kline story would be great; I’ve wondered about her too!
rrp says
Seriously, anything you want to write is fine by me
Sandy says
INNKEEPER. MAUD. INNKEEPER. MAUD. INNKEEPER. MAUD. :))))
Marilyne Ménard says
Hi, I love all your work, but something i would really like to read is
George’s book in the Innkeeper universe.
Thought being able to read any of your books in true graphic novel and not choice (it cost a lot just to make choices…)
Johanna J says
Actually, like some of the others, my first response is that I’d be happy with any of those options (all of those options).
If I had to vote for two (I already voted for one), it would be: Iron Covenant #2 and Innkeeper-Blade (Maude #2).
Cindy says
How about we let you rest for a while and get ready for the holidays?? I know you need to write but this past year has been the pits for all. Take a break
Lynn Thompson says
Thank you, Ilona Andrews for the choices. It was difficult as I do not really have a favorite story (I like them all) so the last choice of something not listed above was very appealing.
Titan, the dog, chose Arabella Hidden Legacy so i went with that. He is spoiled because he has heard mainly hidden legacy stories growing up to dog hood. ????
But anything you write will be appreciated.
Hunter says
Before got further in the “present day” with innkeeper hopefully involving finding out what happened to Dina’s parents, I would almost want to get to know their story first. I liked the scene shared with the realtor and haunted house ????
Diana says
Oh, so hard to decide! It was literally a dice roll between one of the two Innkeepers and Hidden Legacy.
Eli says
My plan was to refresh the survey and vote for all of them – but the technology is to smart for me.
I would vote for…as you wish
JLH says
actually, i want whatever sparks the most creative energy from you guys, springing from your minds like a cross between Zeus and an infant Xenomorph, spattering blood and gore and an expansion of the one of your many worlds.
Diane A Bloechl says
You forgot “all of the above”
Torin says
Seconded
Lisa Drum says
Just took the pill and picked ONE, though honestly – you are one of the few authors that I have loved every series you have written!
Susan Kim Reynolds, MD says
I voted for Blood Heir, but if Roman will show up in Iron and Magic #2, that would have been my first choice. However, I would gleefully devour anything you all write–how about Maud and Arland help Sean and Dina with the ad hal problems? A nice long Innkeeper would cover two options I liked!
Rachel K. says
I voted Innkeeper, but I will be delighted to read whatever project you dive into next. From following the blog, it seems live Ruby Fever was a difficult creative experience. My real vote goes toward whatever our benevolent Authorlords would find most enjoyable to work on. I will await all publications with fragile patience and ravenous hunger.
Annamarie Schmidt says
I honestly want you to write something that makes YOU happy. Anything that you write I’ll get to reap the rewards so if we make you happy I’ll get more– maybe and faster —maybe , but happy authors keep writing so make your selves happy!
Fatima says
That was hard!
Claudia C says
I’m the Queen of the BDH…..I’d Love Innkeeper-Blade #2 with Maud, Arland, Helen, Ilemina and Otubar . Klaus is introduced at the end of #1…….. Soooooooo
Greedy, greedy, greedy………
We need Dina and Sean in this book also with maybe a cameo from George and party.
(Laughing Maniacally)
PLEASE FIND THE PARENTS!!!!!!!!
But I need my Favorite Authors to be Happy and Healthy!
So!
Please write what flowing in your head. I LOVE IT ALL!!
Thank you for sharing your Genius with us!
Alysyn says
Any of the above? I love all those options and want to read them all- this is waaaay harder than being a little kid in the candy aisle. I know that you will eventually write all of them (I hope and pray!) so what one do I HAVE to have first, and which can I survive waiting on the longest… hmmm?
I really want Hugh and Julie’s books to come out and not be forgotten. I adore the innkeeper series and just got my son to read them so I should definitely vote for that- but I also adore Arabella and can’t wait to see her finish coming into her own.
I look forward to whatever you do
and will probably buy two copies regardless of what it is, just please pretty please, make sure you do in fact write all of the above eventually❤️
Eleia Nessler says
Those all sound amazing. I would be happy with any of them.
alice says
heeeey! I want to vote all of them :))))
Gaëlle from France says
I love everything you write, you are the best.
But Hugh 2 ou Julie 2 have my vote.
There’s something in the Kate Daniels universe that speak to me more than any other book than I’ve ever read. (And I read a lot…) They all have something more, something special, and I would beg for a little more, another glimpse of it…
Thank you again for what you create, it means a lot for us.
Sleepy says
Hello, I desperately must know more about “PUT DOWN THAT COW!”
Hugh #2 pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 🙂
Sleepy says
Also, Hugh #1 was my favorite book from you guys… and that’s a difficult bar 😉
Christy says
That may have been the most difficult vote I have cast since I turned 18…
I may regret it if blood heir and maud don’t cycle round for another 2 or 3 years, but I really really want to know about Hugh.
Kimberly au Telemanus says
InnKeeper # 5!!! Or anything Innkeeper!
These books have meant SO much to me, and I’ve read them so many times-I literally savor a new one slowly and carefully like expensive chocolate. I cannot wait for more Innkeeper❤️
Stacey says
My vote went to Blood Heir #2, but Maud #2 is my second choice.
Brooke Boyer says
Oh Innkeeper 5 please please please. I desperately want to know about Sebastian North and meet Dina’s brother ????????
Kathryn says
I voted but it was basically a “YES!!!” To all of the above. I will buy/read anything published by House Andrews.
cyndi says
We are happy for anything!!!!
Paula Correia says
Hello, it’s very difficult and complicated to vote because I have to choose only one. I chose Blood Heir #2 (Julie #2) as I’m wondering if Julie and Dereck are together (please they have to be together). But I also want Iron Covenant #2 (Hugh #2)
Innkeeper #5 (Sean and Dina #5)
Innkeeper-Blade #2 (Maud #2).
Mariette says
To be clear, I know I said slight Blood Heir preference, but like many others here I want you to be happy and I’ll read anything you publish. Happily.
Torin says
I truly can’t choose ????????
Ellen says
I now understand the term, “next to impossible”. Along with everyone else I want them all. I will be happy about anything you write even something different and new because your work is fabulous.
Nicci says
Actually choosing just ONE was torturous ????. I’d like them all… Please. Any order. When you’re able. I’ll wait. Lol.
A.Mouse says
I wanted to vote for two: Julie, then Arabella
Will says
That was a VERY tough poll. You guys are one of the few authors where I don’t have a series preference as I love them all…I just want more. lol. Thanks!
Sarah G says
Here’s what I want:
I want you both to be safe, healthy, and happy. I want you to find writing to be a joy and your lives to be conducive to finding, exploring, and sharing that joy. And if you somehow decide that you want to share any of that joy with complete strangers like me, I will consider it a privilege and pay you accordingly. Thank you for the joy you have brought to me and my family. Be well.
onehsancare says
YES!!!! This!
Travin says
+1
Gerganna says
Greetings from Eastern Europe, Bulgaria ❤️❤️I vote for innkeeper, pls pls pls????????????
Bill G says
I voted to be able to see the results, but I don’t care. I want to read whatever you decide to write for us.
Lise says
I’m looking forward to more form the Kate Daniels series. I would love to see Blood heir. I also love to see more instalments of Currans POV Loved those.
Carole says
Any of them would be wonderful but Arabella’s book or Julie – Blood Heir #2 and Innkeeper Maud would all be at the top of my list. No wonder you are not sure where to go next, so many wonderful choices. Please just follow your Muse and choose the project that lights your fire. Thanks again for all you amazing work.
Wendy says
Don’t make me choose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some many good options. Can’t wait to read it all over the next few years!!!
Trix says
I’m honestly good with anything you all write and gift us with. It’ll be well appreciated….but in my heart…..MAUDMAUDMAUDMAUDMAUDMAUD!!!!
ReneeG says
While I say “whatever you want to write, I’ll read,” because that is both the truth and my desire to make you happy writers, I would love another Innkeeper book.
. . .
Followed by an Innkeeper-Blade book or Blood Kin/Iron Covenant (tied, although I know you said Iron Covenant #2 was going to be dark, so maybe that wouldn’t be a good fit right now), followed by Hidden Legacy (Arabella rules!, so maybe move that up?), with maybe a whole new universe/series (not last or least).
Or maybe I need to get out the D&D dice and figure out a mathematical way to decide! Or maybe with time travel I could have them all right now . . . .
Stefanie says
I have yet to read a book/novel/story… by you that I did not love, so I happily buy whatever you will write.
That said, I would really like to read Iron Covenant 2 because I think you said it would be Elara’s book and I’d really like to know more about her
Heather says
Julie and Derek (Aurelia Ryder #2)
Mariette says
Was torn between Blood Heir 2 and Arabella 1. Although given how much stress you guys found writing RF I suspect you want a break from Hidden Legacy for a bit. Lol
Kara Rogers says
There seems to be a problems with the polling software. I keep trying to vote for everything, and it’s not working. 🙂
Bruce R says
BDH (waiting for any HA book)
Michelle Ritterhoff says
I want to read, whatever you guys want to write. No matter what it is, it will be great. I just want you to enjoy the experience of writing it as much as I enjoy reading it.
Sherri says
While I love them all I think I’m torn between Innkeeper 5 and Arabella.
Innkeeper has been a comfort read for me through the pandemic. I truly love Orro.
On the other hand I adore Arabella. She’s a character with so much potential.
GAH! I can’t decide.
Caroline says
Wow, no all of the above button? But I want them all!!! Y’all are so kind to ask our opinions.
Mona says
Go where your muse leads.
onehsancare says
I want them all! I voted Innkeeper5, but I’ll be thrilled with anything. Write!
I can quibble with the order of the top three, but I’m happy with how the poll is turning out generally at this point (Julie, Hugh, Innkeeper5, Arabella, Maud, Kinsmen).
Heather says
I voted! But also – I just want whatever you feel like writing – reading the list made me excited for all the possibilities!
Emily says
Hundreds of comments & thousands of votes already! How long has this blog post been up!?
It was really hard to choose. Next time, can we please do ranked choice voting?
There are political systems that allow a type of voting like that.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranked-choice_voting_in_the_United_States
Not that it matters too much as I’m sure you’ve got to write what you want to write and I will buy anything you write.
Karen Alonzi says
Aargh! We’ve all heard you lament how hard it is to meet a deadline when your heart isn’t in a particular storyline. Please, throw this poll away! Write whatever gives you joy. Write about whatever characters are currently living in your heads. We. Will. Read. It.
André says
In my humble opinion we shouldnt go into Arabella story now couse we are full of other stories with the plot unfineshed alread: Hugh, Sean and Dina, Maud, Julie. Also we gonna read he next legacy book soon so it wouldnt be fair 2 the other stories if we didnt change.
Kinsman is very recent só it also it would be more fair geting other story.
So from the options of unfinished stories above its been só long since Hugh book that I dont have the itch for it at this moment and since we didnt have a big clif at the end of that one as we have the other ones it doesnt seem fair geting hugh next.
Dina and Sean plot is something that I dont think gonna be solved in the next book and the clif on theast book wasnt very big so it isnt a priority again in my humble opinion. That leave us Julie and Maud. Both with big clif in the last book both with probable big things happening on the next one. I miss Kate world more but if we gonna be fair Julie book come out not long ago and we are waiting for Maud big happy end for some time now. So I would must vote Maud.
Terry C says
I’d like to find out what happened to Dina’s and Klaus’ parents inn and the corrupted innkeeper ( klaus’ friend)
Taylor says
This was an extremely difficult vote ???? Rather painful to make any choice.
My top three are:
1) Julie
2) Arabella
3) Dina
I wish I had more than one vote!
Judy says
Although I voted for Arabella, I would love to additionally see both
Innkeeper-Blade (2)
and Iron Covenant (2).
House Andrews needs multiple selves!!
Travin says
Love your writing abilities. Thank you! Really will appreciate whatever you choose to do. Do admit, really, really would like Iron and Magic #2 and an Innkeeper, miss them, but will be happy with anything or everything you do decide on. Do have to say, I’m in the middle, of a dull run on new books, so doing rereads, very happy that I have Fated Blades coming soon. Am also looking forward to Ruby Fever, congratulations on getting it closer to done, hope the editing goes smoothly and easily.
So thank you again, for everything you have done and are doing!!!!!
As a book devouring horde member, I want everything, but will be happy for what you decide to do, and when.
Janine says
Want them all. Everything from you would be great. ????
Alianna says
Hi, dears – thank you so much for asking!
I recall you posting a similar question several months ago, and too many people said “everything,” and your response (more or less) was: “We can’t do it all at once.”
So … rough priorities. Please know that I, along with the rest of the BDH, will be THRILLED w/ anything that you put out. Right now, waiting a year for Ruby Fever seems like JUST TOO LONG.
That said, here goes:
1. Innkeeper #7 (Arabella): You’ve done such a fab job with the characters in each. I LOVE the family dynamics, the interactions – I saw you doing this kind of thing in your earliest works (the whole Kate Daniels series), but you keep getting better and better, and I so resonate in “being” with these characters. Arabella, in particular, is going to be an interesting one to mature. It’s kind of like Nevada was Kate v2.0. Basic badass/kick-ass heroine. Catalina had the specific challenge of maturing from shy wallflower to being the House Baylor leader, being a public face, making tough decisions … such an interesting evolution! And now, Arabella – whom we’ve always seen as a “kid,” with this underlying rage — evolving her is going to be SO interesting!
Also, where will the softness in her come from – the kind of softness that will let her be in a relationship? That will be an interesting and unusual thing; most heroines are allowed to be “strong,” but typically, women are not allowed to have rage. (Unless, of course, they’ve been hugely wounded – by a person or incident, or by society – but Arabella’s had a pretty decent life, and her anger is part of who she is.)
And I love the other characters in the mix; Leon, Bran, Mom (Penelope), Grandma Frieda – and I do want to see a little of that romance evolve between Sgt. Heart and Penelope. (She so deserves to be cared for, after having to be so tough for so long.)
2. Innkeeper #5 / Innkeeper Blade #2: I love those characters; pure escapism, and it would be lovely to sink into any stories about them. Your choice of whom you want to write about next.
3. Blood Heir #2 – I really enjoyed what you did with Julie in Blood Heir #1, and of course would happily read any sequels – I’m just not as invested in her yet as I am in the Hidden Legacy series or the Innkeeper series. Sometimes it just takes a while to deeply connect w/ a character.
Also – I’ve got to say – I feel more attracted to the entire suite of characters in the Hidden Legacy family, and to the Innkeeper family(ies). Its as though more characters lead to greater interaction-richness. And while plot is nice, and action/romance scenes are nice, what really makes a novel “sing” for me is the interactions between your characters.
4. Iron Covenant #2. Well – I really loved this. And of course I want more. But I do understand – you were finding this a “dark” thing to write, and if you need more time, I would be so totally ok with books from the other series.
***
Any Kinsmen-ish works or related … of course I’ve only read your first works, and they were a LONG time ago – and I feel that you’ve so evolved as writers, especially in terms of characters and their interactions. So I’m expecting that your latest will be much more interesting than your early works here. I don’t know if it would top out over some of your other series, though.
The thing is – if you’re feeling a particular draw to any of your books; if any of your characters and situations are calling out to you the most for that next evolution – I will be totally ok with whatever you do. And thank you for your efforts!
April says
I wanted to vote for all of the above so really anything new from you guys will make my heart sing!
M says
I would be happy to read any of the options. But I vote for whatever strikes your fancy. After what sounds like a challenging time with Ruby Fever you should get to have fun (and the standard writing frustrations) with whatever catches your muse.
Sherre says
Honestly I’ll take anything you want to put out. But I voted. I’m curious about the “something not listed above” because I sorta want to know what other stories are floating around your brains, but with the presence of the other options, I can’t bring myself to pick that one…
Anne says
Although I voted for Blood Heir II i would love anything you felt able to write at this time
Crystal F. says
I would like to complain because I can only vote once. I need to be able to select all of the above!
J/k! Seriously though, if you write it then I will read it! I’m dying to read more of Julie but I’ll take anything!!
Jennifer says
Honestly there is not a bad choice on the list IMO. I’d happily read all of them.
Leah says
Just wanted to say that choosing was very difficult. I would be thrilled with anything. Just finished a reread of KD and it was like coming home.
Thank you ♥️
CO says
I love all of them- So torn between Arabella and anything Innkeeper Dina or Maud!
Still working my way through KD to be able to read Blood Heir!
Secretly loving there is still more already out there I haven’t read!
Vickie Loftis says
I would so bribe you with tea! Just say the word….
Paula says
Lol! Can we vote more than once? ????
Paula says
I want Arabella, Maude, and Julie equally. And everything else is a close second.
Tammy says
I picked a next book in your survey but I would be happy with any of them. I believe I’ve read and own (I re-read them when new books come out in a series) everything you’ve published.
Gsg says
I voted, but it was a hard choice. Basically, anything you want to write is greatly appreciated.
KD says
In my mind it was a straight up tie between Julie’s book and Hugh’s book, and I voted for Hugh because I love that voice actor’s voice so much! ( I hope you get him again – he is superb.) Frankly, though, if you write it, I will buy it and read it. My kids make fun of me at this point – “I know, Mom, Ilona Andrews is awesome, and you can’t wait until her next book comes out. Stop yelling “Put down that cow!” at us though – that’s just weird!”
Abbottjo333 says
The best thing is that even if I “lose” I win. I get the book I want most, or I get a book I want almost as much and the anticipation of the book I want most. Look at that list of possibilities! Preferably without over-stressing House Andrews.
Lyuba says
The majority seem to be going for
Iron Covenant but last year you said it was pretty dark so if ya’ll aren’t up for that I can wait. Another Blood Heir would be great! But the story line that nags at me is Innkeeper. I don’t know if it would be a Dina or a Maud but I am really interested in what the Ad Hal are going to do about the “entity” that took Michael. Thanks for asking!!
Simone says
Whatever you would enjoy writing the most. After coming out of publisher land you should have fun. Love them all so whatever comes out in whatever order is fone by me ????
Lianne says
I will take literally anything you guys write, but I can’t deny I’m jonesing for a little more Hugh or Julie.
Raquel says
I guess you have to be cruel to be kind. You are making us choose between the ones we love. I want to see more of Sean and Dena and lets not forget our loveable chef. But then there is Julie and Derek and how will they end up?But wait, how are Maud and Arland doing? I have become a member of the BDH….sorry, not sorry.
Anxo says
The EDGE
Can we have more of JACK?
Fell in love with him and that world.
Maybe he could be Bi and find his own lion (M/M)? Just a wish.
Judy E Schultheis says
Quite frankly, I voted for Blood Heir #2 only because you didn’t put an “All of the Above” option. Then Iron Covenant #2, then either Innkeeper book, then Arabella (PLEASE?), then another Kinsman.
Whatever you want, actually.
Nis says
Voted Innkeeper 5, but honestly anything you guys dish out will make me happy 🙂 thanks for asking!
Kathy says
This decision is sooo not funny! Thank goodness I’m not the one that has to decide which gets written first!!!
They are all amazing series’. And we’re supposed to pick one? I’m greedy. I want them all, right now ????
Faith Freewoman says
Just so you know, I voted for Blood Heir #2, but it was tough because I’m also longing for Innkeeper #5. However, my longing for Blood Heir is a tad more urgent.
So glad you asked!!!!
Cheers,
Faith
Lisa says
This was difficult. I voted Hugh, but Julie and Arabella were close. Then I remembered how much I liked Maud’s book and how much I want to know what happened to her parents, which I think means a Sean and Dina book. So, it’s a good thing I don’t have to decide.
Crescent Wells says
What I yearn for is more of Maud and Helen!
HDPenn says
This was way too hard. I changed my vote 5 times. Of course anything you give us is happily and gratefully received.
Bree says
I’d read your grocery list (which I guess is kind of what the blog is, lol) but it was TOUGH to pick one. I’d be so happy with another Julie, Dia, Hugh, Arabella, Maud or George/Jack! Gimme whatever you will enjoy writing.
Diana N Rivis says
I’d ;ove to read either another Innkeeper or another Iron Covenant book.
Suzanne Bishop says
You missed out the option I needed…
I don’t care as long as you guys write it, have long since realised that if you write it I’ll like it.
MURIEL Awita Smith says
Kate Daniels’ world is the best! Always a Kate Daniels fan!!
Elizabeth says
Either Julie, because I love the KD worldbuilding or Arabella, because I remember you mentioning her romantic plot was different from how you’ve done it so far (that is, it wouldn’t be confirmed to be X or Z till the end, instead of a single candidate) and I’d love to see you trying something like that.
Also Iron Covenant because Elara’s spooky vibes are immaculate. And Hugh! So handsome, so messed up! And–
(I will be happy no matter what you write. I tried some Jade Citrus Mint tea and liked it, it’s pretty refreshing. I also got this White Bloom type that’s got the little flowers that open once you pour in the hot water? It looks so beautiful!)
Katie R says
Yeah, pretty much any of them is fine with me. I chose Iron Covenant but of course I’m absolutely fine with whatever comes my way.
Ginny says
1930’s noir mystery. Locked room would be even better.
If not, gothic romance. Running woman in nightgown, light in the house behind her.
I bet you could do it.
Caryn says
All or any would be great!
Nancy Weaver says
Went with Maud because I think she has a story bursting to bloom.
Really want a hidden legacy spin off from another minor character like Regina, but Ruby gave you so many fits I couldn’t do it to you. Arabella can grow up a bit more before she tells her story also. I’ll just reread the series a couple of more times to keep me happy.
Audrey says
George! I really want to know what happens with him. So much.
Dee says
Hidden Legacy – Arabella is definitely my number one want to see happen. This series changed my view on all books that follow one character over the course of immerse growth. I NEED to see that same thing for Arabella, Leon and hopefully in the course of seeing them grow we see and get bits of Pen, Bernard. Hopefully can take it beyond the Bayer’s and into others in this world that I have just fallen in love with.
Tish says
I want for Authors to get some well needed rest and be healthy – so they can write awesome things for the next 40 years 😀
Thirza says
How many votes do I get? I want Iron Covenant #2 and Blood Heir #2 and Innkeeper – Blade #2 and Hiden Legacy #7 and ….
(I have yet to start reading the Kinsmen series)
Puāwai Kopu says
Why why is Kinsmen at such a minority. Love this world and it’s potential for awesome…
I mean, love the other books you guys write too but I don’t know how many times I’ve re-read Silent Blade.
Stephanie F says
Such a hard decision!! As many have said, I want all of them! 🙂
I’m currently in the midst of re-reading Hugh’s book so that edged me into voting for Hugh 2, but I’m truly happy to read whatever you want to work on next.
Many thanks to you & Gordon for writing such amazing characters/worlds. You, your work, and your willingness to engage with your audience are very much appreciated. Happy writing!!
Laura says
I recently re-read all the Innkeeper books and short stories and really feel a compelling need to find out what’s the story with Dina’s parents.
When you have time…please 🙂
Joy says
Anything with Hugh, please!!
Although, you could write in the back of a cereal box and I would buy it, just to read it. Love you!!!
Nita Parson says
Love Blood Heir but excited about Maud. Love her character and play with her child and husband
ariella says
Anything you write. Which ever one you feel the most inspired to or happy in writing next.
Peter says
Which option is all of the above?
Mickey says
Wow, so hard to choose. You have so many amazing series and stories, but I guess this is about prioritizing. I choose, 1, but would be happy with any really. You’re amazing authors. I’ve loved all your stories.
xoxox
Pat says
I will happily read anything you write ❤️❤️❤️
Christina Hanley says
Dang that was a hard choice. It also makes it easy for me because whatever yall write next I’ll be happy. Julie just barely edges out Maud, Dina, Arabella and Hugh for my opinion ????
Eva says
Too bad I can only choose one. I went with Iron Covenant (and I used to hate Hugh). Blood Heir or Hidden Legacy are next up, followed by Kinsmen…
As usual though, I am happy about whatever gets published, your books are always great.
Oh, one thing!! You wrote a short story/novella about magical families owing fealty to certain more powerful families, I am blanking on the title. Loved the concept but it might be overall too similar to the world of Hidden Legacy.
Moderator R says
The story you’re thinking of is Of Swine and Roses ????, it can be found in Small Magics https://ilona-andrews.com/katie-daniels-books/#small and it was indeed a precursor to HL ☺️
Tasha C says
I wanted to vote for two — either of the innkeeper books!!!
Honestly happy with all of them!
Zanne01 says
So… bribes won’t work?????
Carina M Paredes says
I wish you could accept gifts. I would send you lots of tea, yarn and other goodies.
Robin says
IF we could get the yarn there safely it would have to have a copy of “Dragon Naturally Speaking” attached. Knitting as stress relief is fantastic. If lots of us sent yarn it could get in the way of the WRITING muse. I had a flash of Ilona diving into a dumpster sized bin of yarn saying “I know I saw that chartreuse mohair…”
Kritter says
How do you choose?! Out of necessity I would devour Blood Heir, Iron Covenant and Hidden Legacy!
Taylor H says
1st pick: Tie between Arabella #1 and a Hidden Legacy book led by Pancakes (if that’s on the table…)
2nd pick: Maud #2
But I agree with everyone saying to follow your creative spirit and write whatever brings you guys joy! 🙂
JP says
I’d have voted for a Maud & Helen / Julie cross-over, but that wasn’t an option
sarah says
Write whichever book is singing to your heart the loudest!
Zee says
Blood Heir #2 please then Iron Covenant #2. LoL..
JO says
I honestly can’t choose. It all sounds amazing. Please work on what will bring you the most joy to write at this time. Also: I am so loving these teas from Mountain Rose right now:
https://mountainroseherbs.com/berry-bramble-tea
https://mountainroseherbs.com/orange-cream-oolong-tea
Sara B. says
I saw the Mountain Rose teas — thought they should be in Mrs. Rogan’s pantry!
Yvonne A. says
I would be happy over every part of the list, but when I can choose I would really love a next inkeeper whith dina and sean
Nanette Furman says
Gods, any and all in the poll. Drooling. Don’t burn out, but please keep going.
Laurie Hicks says
I absolutely love the innkeeper. But Arabella…she’d be fun.
Kristan Paige Hall says
I honestly don’t care. Not to bring down everyone’s mood, but the love of my life passed away last week. Anything you write will be a welcome respite from my reality of a life without him in it. I would even be grateful for a snippet that I read over and over again.
Moderator R says
I’m so sorry for your loss, Kristan.
Kristan Paige Hall says
Thank you so much.
Amber Amber says
My heartfelt condolences… I can not even imagine what you are going through. Huge hugs!
Kristan Paige Hall says
Thank you, Amber x2
kommiesmom says
It gets better, my dear.
My love left us just over 5 years ago. I still miss him every day.
But you can go on and you can be happy. Just keep yourself interested in the world and things will ease.
(I read Ilona Andrews to help get me “out of myself” then and I still do.)
Richard Cartwright says
That gives me some hope as well. Thanks
Kristan Paige Hall says
It’s so impossible to ever see the possibility of ever being happy again, so thank you for sharing that.
Richard Cartwright says
Kristen, I am coming up on two years without my soul mate of 40 years. I won’t bs you and say it will get better with time because the hole in my soul is still there. But the happy memories tend to overcome the sad. Still tears, but they become a balm rather than a burn.
Kristan Paige Hall says
Thank you for the lack of BS. Truthfully, I’ve been hiding out at home because I can’t stand hearing all the “he’s in a better place now” and “time heals all things.” I know people are just trying to help, but…
Amber says
I will honestly read anything you write, so please, just keep writing…. please!!! Does it help if I say all of the above? Lol
Kritter says
Also, Kate and Curran are always my #1. Would love to see what they’re doing – even if it’s a short story or small glimpses in Julie and Hugh’s books.
Linnaea Murray says
Yes! This!
Kelly says
Definitely cannot let go of the Hidden Legacy series…
Linnaea Murray says
I was hoping it was a multiple selection list… I chose Julie, with Hugh being a close second. But realistically, I would read a post-it note from you guys and be happy, so you do you. Which one excites you?!
Samantha says
If you write it, we will read it. A bit of field of dreams from a strong KD horde member. I frequently face customer service issues with, “If it bleeds I can kill it.” Attitude. Most never catch on to the reason for my big grin. Your to-do list looks delish. Enjoy.
Liz says
I’d be pretty happy with almost all of them or with something you just came up with. Equally I want to know more of what happens next so…
Leena says
Oh wow! Can I be greedy and just say ‘all of the above’? Seriously though, I’ll read anything ????
A. G. Boggs says
Um, can I vote for any and all of the above? I don’t really care which one is next, just waiting til you are able to get it done
House DeMille says
INNKEEPER. Either/both whatever… The Innkeeper stories are the books I re-read and re-read all the time. The other series are fun also, but to me they’re more or less just something to read while waiting for more Innkeeper (apologies to House Baylor/Rogan, Kate and Curran…)
Christine says
I agree. I love them ALL. But I really think that Innkeeper tends to be underrated by the BDH!
Christine says
I had to choose Innkeeper Blade 2, because I’m dying to know what Klaus has to say!! Will he admit to being an arbitrator? Will he have information on their parents? So many questions!! Plus, Maud is a straight-up Badass!! But Julie would be a very close second. I loved Blood Heir. It might have been – dare I say it? – my favorite Ilona Andrews book ever! Plus Julie&Derek 4 Life!!!
Jan B says
Argh!
1.Innkeeper Dina
2. Blood Heir
3. Iron Covenant
4. Innkeeper Maud
Pence says
All of the above. Pretty please.
RondaG says
I had opinions until I saw the list and then just wanted them all.
Bob Harris says
Anything Innkeeper. You could finish the story arc about Dina’s parents, you would take a tangent and write about an incidental character that visited the Inn, write a short story, show Maud’s magical powers evolving, etc…
Toni says
First, I want everything, so I’ll be happy however the order turns out.
From a polling perspective, I think it’s important to note (not sure if someone else pointed this out already) that the desire for things like the next Kinsmen and Arabella stories are going to jump once we have the current Kinsmen and the finale of Catalina’s story in our hot little hands.
(It seems really really greedy to ask for the next two of those series when we already know two new ones are up on deck.)
JaneyJ says
This was a ridiculously difficult choice to make! If there was a “I’ll take whatever” option, I would have chosen it. I honestly don’t think I could even rank the choices 1-6. I will happily read anything you put out, even if it was a cleverly written grocery list.
Marnie says
Anything in the KD world is always going to get my vote.
Richard Cartwright says
This is tough. Ilona has mentioned that Iron Covenant 2 is dark and might be difficult to write emotionally. That said, time wise it will be moving into the events of Magic Triumphs and laying the backstory for Hugh and Alara having contact with Julie and later helping her with their common problem. Which might make it better having an Iron Covenant book before the next Blood Heir book.
Innkeeper universe: Sweep of the Blade 2 has an another upcoming wedding and a long lost brother. Innkeeper has Dina and Sean’s happy right now with an undertone of “who is Sebastián North?” Also a potential wedding. Presumably with less blood weapons. Maud’s wedding will be a big deal and would have to somehow include Dina and Sean. Are there housesitters for Inns? By the same token, Maude, Arlan and Helen at a minimum would need to be at Dina and Sean’s wedding.
Because you did a vampire wedding in Sweep of the Blade 1 perhaps it would be better to go with an Innkeeper wedding. Because Caldania and Orro putting a wedding together has epic comedy potential. Although the Supreme Predator organizing her son’s nuptials and butting heads with her Maven is very attractive.
All that said, it’s going to be a trick dealing with those issues whilst making either book. In the end I would go with Sean and Dina.
Kinsman: With Fated Blades coming out later this month, I would rather see things in your other universes first.
Hidden Legacy: Unless there’s a story already in y’alls heads clamoring to get out, that seems to be at the bottom of the list, especially if its dependent on the publisher picking it up.
My suggested writing order.
Iron Covenant 2
Innkeeper 4
Blood Heir 2
Sweep of the Blade 2
Kinsman book TBD
Hidden Legacy Arabella
KD universe Roman book post Battle of Atlanta pre Julie makeover
KD universe Derek’s early days with Ice Fury ( although I suspect that would create too many spoilers for the Blood Heir series)
Of course, in the end it’s what you two want to write. Heck I would buy your grocery list if you published it.
Sue says
Wow! Thank you for asking!!! That was tough since there are no bad choices. Ultimately I would like to see Iron Covenant 2, simply because we’ve had Blood Heir and Innkeeper most recently and I want to know what happens next with Hugh and Elara. We know – mostly – where they end up, but I’d like to see the rest of the journey.
Whatever the results and whatever ends up being written, I know I will be happy to just settle in and enjoy the latest tale.
Suzieb says
Hi. I lurk, I don’t post, so, here goes my first. This is why you’re the best. You ask what we want next. I’ve been reading you since I stumbled on Kate in a small brick and mortar store (sigh) back when Magic Strikes first came out. Fan girl ever since. My son writes and I send him many of your blog posts. He finds them interesting and helpful. He just had his first book published by a small publisher so, thanks for the advice!
Sam says
Congrats to your son!
curriedchanna says
It’s a Roman HEA for me. As Sam says, in and out of his Eeyore jimjams. In or out of Atlanta. Maybe at a volhv convention…
Carla says
Choosing just one was so hard!!! I will wait though. It is always worth the wait, no matter how much I want to pull my hair out over it.
Lisa says
Haha looking at how close it is. Not sure we’re helping at all!
Nicci Madsen says
I love all of your books and love reading them. I would be happy with any of them although Iron Covenant and Blood Heir would be my first choices.
Colin says
Blood Heir 2! D+J Forever!!
Lyn says
Wow. No wonder you have trouble deciding. Each of these are what we are waiting for. Love love love. However I vote for Hugh. …..or innkeeper……..no Hugh ????????
Donna M Waltz says
I want them all. I want them all! And I want them now!!! 😉
Susan says
My order of what I would love to read next.
1. Innkeeper #5
2. Innkeeper Blade
3. Hidden Legacy – Arabella (she would a hoot)
4. Blood Heir
5. Iron Covenant
6. Kinsmen.
Lauryn says
I don’t think we can say it enough but I’ll echo it every time; please, write what makes you happiest. And after that I voted for Hugh#2. If allowed second, third, fourth and more choices; Julie, Maude, Dina, any HL. I feel like I’d really savor the next Hugh, it’s been so long. I’m still a little nervous about the “dark” if that remains, but I love his evolution and Elara is simply fascinating.
Jenna says
Innkeeper all the way! Anything/everything Innkeeper! The struggle to keep waiting is real!
Brian says
IRON COVENANT!!! We need some testosterone for the male readers/fans!
Kay says
I’d love to see more Kinsmen. I also like the Hidden Legacy books, so I’d be happy to have more of both of those. 🙂
Elle Dechene says
That was a really tough choice, which means I’ll love whatever you are moved to write next.
My personal favorite series, though, is the Innkeeper Chronicles (whether it be Dina or Maud), so of course I ended up voting for Maud because we’re left a bit hanging at the end of her and Arland’s story. Klaus is there? With news? Surely this will draw Dina and Sean into the mix. It’s fun to see Arland and Sean’s interactions.
My second favorite is the Edge series, which I read after Innkeeper Chronicles. I was so delighted to find the backstories for George et al., albeit they are quit grim in places. It would be terrific to see more intersections between the Edge and Innkeeper Chronicles. Actually, my pet theory is that Dina’s father is from the Edge.
Looking forward to anything House Andrews rights, always intriguing and delightful.
Elle Dechene says
Oh, and Inkeeper at a combined vote (as of this moment) of 33% is clearly in the lead! 🙂
Caz says
I picked Maud #2 because I want to know why Maud’s brother showed up and what happened to her parents. Also, I need a dose of Helen.
Christine Eaton says
I voted Hugh #2 but struggled to not vote for Julie #2. (It felt greedy since that was the most recent from the Kate Daniels world. ) BUT I am invested in Elara, and now Hugh’s, people and life. I want to know more about what Elara is and Hugh is fascinating and gahhhhh….I just checked. It’s been 3 years since Iron and Magic. It’s time.
But then. On the other hand. I am completely anxious to get Julie and Derek’s romance!!!
Life’s hard decisions.
(Taking a deep breath. Letting it out.)
Reminding myself: Who are your favorite authors?
Answer: Ilona Andrews
***** yes, y’all are the answer to security questions ******
No worries.
Because whatever gets written will be AWESOME!!!!
So my question back to y’all is, “What do both of you want to write?”
Ashley says
Whatever makes you snicker (giggle, chuckle). Laughter is so good right now.
I voted, but it’s not so much that I want one story more intensely than the others. It’s more that I want to “get my taster set”, as my MIL says when we are deciding on a restaurant.
Do I want habanero salsa? Or eggs three ways? Or fresh bread in the castle kitchen? Any really, I just like to know which so I can enjoy the anticipation.
I think it’s wildly generous of you to let your readers know what you are working on. Thank you!
Sara B. says
After some thinking, I did come up with a writing subject that was not, specifically on the list.
How about a transition novella from Catalina to Arabella, like “Diamond Fire” was transition from Nevada to Catalina? I think the novella’s are shorter (don’t know if they are easier to write, though).
Your choice of what inspires you to write (or makes you do the evil “hehehe” thing). I just want to know what happens next for everybody …
Lisa says
This really needs an “all of the above” option ????????. But since I had to pick, more Hugh!
Alee says
blood heir or Arabella 1 would be my preference. TBH I am not all that interested in Hugh. I think I just need him to stay a bad guy after the Aunt B thing. I did read Iron Covenant but I still want him to be in the bad guy zone.
However, perhaps you are due pallet cleanser to refresh your zeal, some story you might find refreshing and exciting. You write good stuff no matter what but I think the reader’s can tell when the author(s) are passionate about what they worked on.
Olivia says
Y’all know y’all are wrong for this, right? I have straight up analysis paralysis!! No matter what it is, it’s gonna be great, so I really can’t choose.
Now, I’ll just impatiently wait for you guys to write all of these (eventually) and devour them as they come out.
Morgwn Smith says
I’ve been on an Innkeeper binge this week, sooooo…
Actually, you have inspired me, so I’m dipping my inky fingers into writing an urban fantasy of my own, too.
Dorothy Campbell says
Would love to find out what happens after ‘Sweep of the Blade’ to Maud, her family, and her brother!
Chris says
I want the book that will bring you the most joy to write.
Deborah says
Whatever you’re interested in writing is good. I want to see more of Hugh, but I would also love more of Arabella and Julie and Maude and and and ….. I have faith that I will love whatever whenever.
Lorie Barnes says
I would very much like to see/read/listen to the next book(s) about Hugh in the Iron Covenant series, please and thank you.
Robin Talbot says
I like how there is a mix of votes, it shows how good all your series are. Whichever project you start next, I just hope you enjoy writing it, if you ever decided to quit writing and get a boring normal job I don’t know what this lot would do!
Yolène says
Thank you for this opportunity! I hesitated because I love Hugh d’Ambray character so much but… Maud is still my all time favorite and I just re-listened to her book a few days ago so I had to vote for her ! Also, you didn’t wrote enough Innkeepers Chronicles books (and I was sure Hugh would get a lot of votes anyway).
Quillin Voirrey says
I can only choose one! Noooo, I want them all. I chose Hugh because I want to know about the chicken but I love Maud and the vampires
Catts Cynthia says
Really wanted to boy “all of the above”! ????
Tiffany Walter says
But how do I choose? I want whatever you want to write in whatever order you want to write them.
David Suitor says
A new Julie book would be nice. Am wondering how life is treating Hugh and his family. A new Innkeeper story would be interesting. But Julie is at the top of the list! (Note: What about Curran’s and Kate’s son? What mischief could he get into as a tween? )
Lea says
Any or all of the above. My personal preference would be for you to write what makes you happy, that way you get to enjoy the process too
Tonya says
Ooh, actually this is my vote now too! Well said.
Nina says
Iron covenant or blood heir! Orrrrr wild card the edge series
Christie says
HIDDEN LEGACY is my first pick, but I love the Kinsmen universe followed by the world of Kate Daniels (Blood Heir and Iron Covenant). sigh But I will read anything you guys write. I love your humor and writing style. Good plots with twists and turns set at a “can’t-put-it-down” pace. Thank you.
Liz C says
I agree with the “we want them all” comments, I’m just desperate to know what happens with some more urgently than others… also I LOVED Blood Heir but I’d love to know more about the time in between before moving forward in time even further. More Hugh first would be my preference if asked, but to be honest I’ll happily buy/ read anything
Tonya says
That was a hard vote! I think I lean most towards anything Inkeeper universe or Julie, but really they’d all be great.
Ally says
I picked the second Julie book. She’s the only one who isn’t “together” with her romantic lead. And she seems so alone doing everything by herself which makes me want her HEA even more. I love the other books, but I can wait to read more stories since the couples are romantically together.
I know these books are not romance genres for the most part, but I always feel like my main characters should be happy with a special someone even if it’s not the focus. Once they find that, I am considerably more patient because my leads are happy.
Sean and Dina – together and happy
Hugh and Elara – together and happy-ish (depending on when Hugh #2 events take place)
Maud and Arland – together
Arabella – doesn’t have a set love interest so I’m not dying slowly inside to see what happens with her story. I can wait.
Kinsmen – we will get a new Kinsmen novel this month so I’d like something different. Most Kinsmen novels feature different main leads so I’m not pining away wondering what will happen to someone I don’t know yet (although I am desperately waiting for Ramona and Mateas’ book since you put the 1st chapter up and now I do know them and love them)
But I will be happy with whatever you choose!!
Catlover says
I say go with random idea stuck in your head. Might just as well dust out the random thought and “I wonder about this idea” corners before the holiday madness starts. As RF was hard to write (even though we love that family)maybe its time for a new world to get your anticipation and can’t wait to work juices flowing again.
Crystal Johnson says
In my mind I voted for everything….
E says
reading these comments reminded me of Ilona’s description of the different series’ fan base personalities. spot on. still laughing
https://ilona-andrews.com/2020/fandom-tea-party/
JULIE #1
Vinity says
I’m pretty much down with whatever you guys really WANT to write next. But that said, I chose Blood Heir.
Lilian says
Can I tell you what I don’t want? That was an easier decision, than what I do want.
You guys are amazing in your craft, I’ll take what you give us!
Nancy says
That was a hard poll. I want Arabella, and Dina and Sean, but Maud 2 squeezed past them. But Arabella is really right up there too as I love the HL books. And Innkeeper, and…. Any and all of the above would be my first answer. Whatever works best for you.
Sonia says
Not going to lie. I wanted to vote for all of them.
Lissa says
Can I choose whatever you’re happiest to work on? I’m happy to have any of these!
Also my decision making skills are poor.
Sal says
If you write it, we will read it 🙂 anything that comes our way makes us happy
Dixie McIlwraith says
I would love more George and Jack
McMe says
I will be thrilled with whichever one you decide to write next!
All of them are awesome. I’m willing to wait for you to be in the right frame to write each story in a way that makes you happy. I love your narrative voice!
So, I don’t have a strong preference for which I want first. Please work on whichever moves your heart with the firm assurance that readers like me will pre-order as soon as it hits our favorite bookseller sites!
Tehani Withers says
My brain hurt, it was so hard to choose. I thought you needed a break from Hidden Legacy series so even if Arabella story would be cool, let us wait for that haha. Blood heir 2 would be awesome but I miss Inkeepers more. Anyway, hope you have a good break/end of the year. Sending sunny/tropical vibes from Tahiti Island.
JulieMcC says
I voted for Innkeeper-Blade, but would have also voted for HL-Arabella if I could.
RLAWTX says
What’s on the table?
Tied for 2nd Iron Covenant #2
4th Innkeeper #5
1st Blood Heir #2
Tied for 2nd Hidden Legacy #7
5th Kinsmen #4
3rd Innkeeper-Blade #2
But, I’ll take what I can get…
(I like the Kinsmen, but I’m invested in the others)
Julie Edwards says
I want them all of course. But I’ll settle for whatever gets your author juices flowing. ????
Kiri Guyaz says
Hugh’s Book #2
Victoria says
Julie (and Derek)!!
(But honestly imma be excited about whatever, lol)
Moritz says
That was a really, really difficult one to decide! To tip the scales somewhat in my favor please allow me to point out that the inkeeper might be leading the polls if we did not have to choose between maud and dina 🙂
Don‘t get me wrong – I am looking forward to hopefully enjoy all of these works over the next decade or so in what oder ever. Still cheering for Inkeeper. Or Arabella? Or Julie?? Looks to me that a lot of people do enjoy your work – I‘m still struggling to achieve that in my profession. And thanks for getting my hopes up to read those books sometime!
Mars says
I voted for Blood Heir 2. As much as I love all the other options Julie’s story is the one I’m dying to read …especially after THAT ending!
Kristel says
I have a favorite of course but I’m good with any of the top three. I’m hungry for a Julie 2 but there hasn’t been an Inkeeper installment for a while. And while I’m interested in what happens next with Hugh, I have more of an attachment to the Inkeeper characters since I know them better. That said, you won’t hear me complain. I’ll be thrilled with any on the list.
Lw says
Agreed.
John Kern says
Totally agree
Uriel_39 says
WE WANTS THEM ALL!!!!
BUT HUGH #2 TOPS MY LIST! ALSO WE NEED FULL DETAILS ON “PUT THE COW DOWN” !
Lw says
So hard to choose just 1. I am torn between Innkeeper and Hugh. You did the impossible and created a likable Hugh, so I want him to have his HEA (after many, many more books). But Innkeeper with Sean and Dina ended up with my vote.
John Kern says
what Anne says
Katy says
Mostly I want a book about Roman. All of the above would be good too!
Dallas says
All of the above!!!!
Judy says
Hi Guys, I love your books. Your fully developed worlds and delightful, intelligent characters are so fun to follow. My vote would be for more Innkeeper Blade stories with Maude, Armand and Helen.
Jest says
The one you want to write next.
Claire says
Does the something not listed above include the possibility of a book for Roman?! I’ve loved reading his snippets.
Cynthia says
Well I am disappointed that Innkeeper-Blade #2 was so low on everyone’s wish list or Innkeeper in general.
Love that series!
But It would have been nice after Hell COVID to have a new Innkeeper to savor over.
As a healthcare worker I can say it has taken a serious toll and I fear we’re not finished with the different variants.
I hope the system can survive it…
(PS I’m not knocking anyone for their beliefs about vaccines or mandates.)
Michelle says
Want all of them. So hard ti choose one.
Steve lucas says
I want you to write something you will really enjoy and have fun with. The last book was hard on you, and I truly want them all also.
I love every word of every book and will never get enough! You truly are the best addiction I could have.
Thanks also for the link to Jennine frost’s short story. It was fun
Natalie says
Dammit I really wanted to also vote for Iron Covenant 2 as well as Blood Heir!
Rowena says
I want to hit them all. Everything you write takes me out of everyday and into the lives of your characters. Sometimes, I listen to all the audiobooks before I let myself read the new one.
But I think Arabella is the difficult, unexplored character, even though I really want to know about Dina’s cat.
Delilah says
Wow that was really hard to choose just one! I want all of them! And since reading Fated Blades I’d love a full length Kinsmen novel!
Let’s face it, you could write a shopping list and I’d read it!
Annette says
Please write the novel that will give you the most happiness to write.
I love all your series.
Stay safe and well.
Natalie Collins says
Wish we could pick more than one …
Helen Silva says
I’m not sure if it would be in Julie #2, but I’d love to find out more about Derek when he went to Alaska, and how he became the alpha we saw in Blood Heir (Julie #1)
Kimbeaux says
I’d like to read Roman’s story sometime. Priest of the dark god with a sense of whimsy—how could this not be good?
But it doesn’t have to be *next*. Next should be something fun to write.
Akeru Joyden says
After taking your disguised personality test, I feel like I am schizophrenic because I kept changing my answer and hovering over the vote button. It took me 4 minutes to make a decision… so the final verdict? Just write something!!!!
Sarah says
This is a random question but I’m going to shoot my shot. I’m looking at silken wind hound puppies(they are like mini borzois), as lovers of fur babies and masters or Russian lore and mythology, what names would you suggest?
lia says
Really looking forward to Fated Blades – I bet that’ll change the vote once people read it. 17 days to go!!
Valerie in Ca says
How about a donation. To an animal rescue in your name?
Tax deduction for us if they are non profit
Only drawback: how would you both know if we donated?
Alex says
Picking just 1 was brutal. Not gonna say what I picked because I would be thrilled to have any of these. I’m ridiculously excited for Fated Blades, I’ve been hoping for another Kinsmen story for years. Beyond that… all winners.
Jaime says
I feel spoiled by Fated Blades right now *sheepish grin. SO EXCITED!!!!
Susan J says
ARABELLA #1!? There might be an ARABELLA series? Hooray!
Autumn says
Omg I literally can not pick… Where is the option to select all of the above ????
Big Mike says
You two write it and I will buy it no matter who the heroes are. Still, would it be asking too much for Julie and Derek to wind up stopping off in Kentucky to help Hugh and Elara with some sort of magical difficulty on their separate ways back home? Just thought I’d ask.
Libby says
I voted for Maud’s second book, but I would pretty much love anything you’ve listed. I’m a little apprehensive about reading Hugh’s book right now, because I think it’s been said it will be kind of dark, but as a member of the BDH, I will power through any dark story.
Susan Rakestraw says
Thanks for the opportunity to weigh in on the storyline I’d most like to see….. But in truth, I’ll very happily read anything and everything you publish.
William B says
While I enjoy everything you two produce, I especially enjoy Maud and her internal conversations with herself. The way she constantly lets vampires underestimate her. Let’s also not forget Helen.
Frances says
So difficult ! Want them all but especially Innkeeper blade 2.
Jaime Taylor-King says
I … I … OOF. Choosing is HARD. I have to say, wanting to see Maud see Klaus and potentially witnessing Ilemina have a conversation with anyone from House Ervan won out.
Though… Julie! I can’t wait to read the scene where she reunites with Kate and/or Curran. Will chocolate be enough to fix the issues she’s gonna have with the Oracle?
And Elara! What’s going on with the pantry moths and herbs??? What about the CHICKEN?
And Dina and Sean. SEBASTIAN NORTH?
Also I feel bad asking for more Kinsmen when we’re kinda getting a Kinsmen soon, but I adore Kinsmen.
I have no idea how IA keeps it all straight and bless y’all for being amazing.
Elaine says
I actually wanted to mark all of the choices!! I am most eager for Hugh’s next chapter!! Love a good redemption story. But then Inn Keeper, more Maude, more Arabella…. Really, I’ll read and enjoy whatever pleases you to write.
Thank you for tea links! I already love Harney teas.
Adam says
Want a Leon booooook~ He’s so fun!
But really, any of these sound great ????
Kalimini says
All of the above please even though I had to choose only one. I would have loved to send you some Kenyan tea,but I respect your privacy. That said, please try it ????
Vanya says
Innkeepers was split, if it was together, it would be #1
House DeMille says
Exactly what I was thinking!
TDoll says
You missed one category. The “I love everything, just write whatever you feel like!”
I mean, it’s not like we can lose, right?
Jo says
Would be fascinating to run this again after fated blades is out. I predict that would change the results… I didn’t vote as I’m more than happy to read any so would like option – whatever you feel moved to write/is most fun for you.
Bonny says
If I can’t have Maude, I’ll take Hugh
Bj says
I would love another romance from the authors
My problem with some listed above is the matchmaker trope where all the known characters suddenly get married at once
lynsay sands had to invent a matchmaking super ability to explain these millennium old characters all hooking up at once
One of the reasons I love the Kinsman series, it keeps being unrelated protagonists
FIN
Leah says
I also would have liked the all of the above, but especially, I think there should have been a Whatever Makes the Authors Excited option. You went through so much for Ruby Fever, that you should re-find the excitement of writing a good book/series/novella again.
Lizzie says
This was a very difficult choice; bit I made one. 🙂
Regardless, I know I will be pleased with whatever is selected. I thoroughly enjoy everything you write! Thank you for all you do.
Victoria Gaskell says
Blood Heir 2
Innkeeper 5
Innkeeper Blade 2
Hidden Legacy 4
Asch Green says
Ha I want them all. A while back you posted a snippet about Roman, would be awesome to hear his story some day 🙂
Ann says
Either of the Innkeeper series, followed by the Hidden Legacy #7.
Patti says
I voted, but only to see what others voted for. I will read anything you choose to write!
Monique says
In my perfect world you two are superhero writers and deliver all of them back to back so my addiction can be sated slowly and sweetly.
Janette N says
The lack of an “All of the above” option was a little heartbreaking. I miss the Inn Keeper world badly though so that had to get my vote. However, I will not be disappointed with anything that you write! Your stories and your Blog bring me much joy.
Janny says
Arabella please!! Oh, then Innkeeper (Klaus?!?Parents??)
While I want to hear more about Hugh, you’ve said it’s a dark book….
Socorro says
I even got an order of preference! ????????♀️
Iron Covenant 2
Inkeeper-Blade 2 (Klaus ripper-cushions!)
Blood Heir 2
Inkeeper 5
Hidden Legacy 7
Kinsmen 4
I think the order is withdrawal-related relative to the previous book in each series. ????
That said, you know I’ll read whatever you write in whichever order you do it! ????
Love & Peace
Melisande says
🙂 Of course I want the options that are 4,3,2 – More Maud, More Innkeeper, and then More Iron Covenant. 🙂
Whatever you choose, I hope it brings you joy and the insane cackling of brilliant plot moments and snappy dialogue!!!
Melisande says
OH!!!!!!! Can I also vote with everyone else that said more Roman!!!!! I mean he really needs his own novella full of moments that make you cackle insanely as the poor tortured volkov tries to have a nice quiet evening at home. 🙂
Jenn says
I understand that Iron Covenant is grim, but the world doesn’t seem to be getting any less so and I am so curious as to what happens next. Now, curiosity killed the cat and all that. Lol ????
Lisa Tamura says
I really want Arabella, but you guys deserve a break from HL. I would gladly read Maud or Julie kick butt instead.
Mary Cruickshank Peed says
Yes.
You should do it ranked by preference. Is there anyone who is going to object to any of those? I feel like I’ve been waiting for the next book in the Hugh series the longest but I want to know what happens to Julie and Maud and Arabella and Sean & Dina… So you know…whatever is next.
Amanda says
This is like trying to pick 1 favorite book! I think I would like to read more about Maud please.
Kate Daly says
I was torn between Dina and Maud. I voted for Dina, but if I had seen the rankings, I might have gone with Maud for balance. I love a good alien, and your aliens are terrific. And yes, I do read all of the others with great pleasure. Thank you for writing so well.
Lesley says
Quite frankly, it doesn’t matter which one you finish first because we of the BDH want them all and will gladly read whatever you give us. Y’all could re-write the phone book and we’d read it! Lol
Calley says
I know others have said it but I want to add my voice to the chorus – I will read whatever you give us.
I adore your writing, and I know that I will thoroughly enjoy anything you have written – and if you enjoy writing it then that’s even better!
Old/new – doesn’t matter, I know I’m guaranteed an escape to exciting places and people I fall in love with.
Thank you for sharing your imaginations with us, and for making me laugh out loud, sob quietly, and for years and years of amazing reading.
Ps – I think I’ve re-read ALL of your books at least 3 times each over the years, and they never get old.
R Coots says
So MANY good options, but I feel like poor Hugh’s been languishing on a back burner long enough. Or maybe that’s because I just reread the second half of Kate’s series and I am itching to see Julie learn about his marriage and castle. XD
Kathleen says
Any of the above! As I love all your work I’ll take whatever the Muse leads you to. Thank you for being one of the bright spots in my world.
Ritarsha says
I have a question about Blood Heir. How does it relate to the previous book with Julie and Derek? Is this just a total rewriting of history? Or a continuation. Or is this so far in the future as to make that book not relevant?
Moderator R says
Hi Ritarsha,
I’m not sure I understand the question, but Blood Heir takes place 8 years after Magic Triumphs.
Simone says
Hi Mod R – i think the reference is to Magic Stars (Grey Wolf) novella featuring Derek and Julie
Moderator R says
The answer still applies ????. Blood Heir is not a “rewrite of history”, it’s a book set in the future of the Kate Daniels series. I’m unsure what about that would make Magic Stars irrelevant, but that may be me ????
I hope this helps ????
Camille says
I pick Julie (Blood heir)
But Dina or Hugh are really welcome ????????????????????????
Laura says
Why can’t there be an “all of the above” button?!
Just kidding. Obviously, it takes a lot of effort to write any, not to mention all, of those books. The choice was hard!
KMD says
The only one I can for sure say I can wait for is HL #7. I don’t want you guys getting burnt out forever on it. You seem to have the most fun with innkeeper, so I say go for that one. I want to see more Maude, but I like Dina too 😉
Kelly B says
Loyal BDH member… and while I understand the ‘all of the above is not helpful, I just had to say my piece….
Innkeeper / Maud – #1
Arabella – #2
Julie / Derek – #3
…anything your heart desires I will happily read.
My order is biased towards the worlds/characters that bring me absolute joy. I’ve had some rough news and so I need the balance of happy. Not that you didn’t rock Hugh’s book, but he’s just more dark than I can do right now.
That being said…you write, I read, then re-read. Those are the terms I signed up for as a BDH and I am not willing to renegotiate 😉
Thank you!
Kathryn Shaklee says
Oh the torture of only one choice. Could of at least let us pick 2. I finally did an eenie, meenie between my 2 favorite series. Favorites by a thin margin as I love all your series. So glad I found your books.
Henry King says
As I went through @ 10% of the comments, it appeared most of the BDH were like me; I will read what ever you give us. Yes I voted for one, Innkeeper 5, then I would ask for Maude.
Patricia says
That was a difficult choice. I want them all, but that felt like the easy way out.
To be able to choose, I had to change the question to “what are you most curious about?”
Turned out it wasn’t “Who will Arabella hook up with” (undoubtedly someone as awesome as Rogan or Alessandro) or “Will Julie change the Profecy?” (I’m leaning towards “yes”) nor “Who is Ceasar” or “What happened to Helen and Gerard”.
To my surprise, what I want to know more than anything else is how Maud will be as Maven and why Klaus is there.
Anna says
I want Roman to rescue someone, fall in love and have to deal with his family
Bill from NJ says
An Oro adventure in the Inkeeper universe. And of course further adventures of Kate and Curran’s son when he gets to be a teenager lol
Robin says
Would Maud invite Orro to her wedding? Would he find his way into the kitchens? Would he make “dramatic pose” scene? Inquiring minds want to know!
Rene says
All please ????????
Alison says
Really they are all interesting to me. The one I am least invested in is the Kinsman although that might change after I read fated blades.
eXavier says
Honestly, just please keep writing. I love reading your stories. Thank you.
Alexandra Parks says
I would really like to vote for all of them. But every time I click on the next box, the previous one disappears . So surprise me. Whatever you write, I will read 🙂
Kathryn Hauschild says
I made a selection, but I’ll be happy with any of them.
Cath Seabrook says
I wish there was an all of the above option. I voted for Blood Heir but wold be happy with any of them.
Nanik says
I’d love to read every one of them!
Amy McDonald says
I will love to see Iron Covenant #2!! And Blood Heir #2!! But seriously anything and everything you two write I will happily read!!! So is the life of the BDH ???? you are so awesome to ask your fans this!!
Other Barbara says
Hmm can I vote “story that brings happiness to the writing experience, which selling like alien hot cakes”
So torn. I want Hugh, Julie and all the in depth extended Kate and Curran family.
I want Dina and Maud to find parents but not to resolve and end innkeeper. I want Orro to live in my imagination forever.Fire!
I may even love House Baylor best of all, perhaps because I have been spending so much time with them recently.
Then I have to ask myself, who might be living in the House Andrews brains that we have yet to meet?
Will picking one demolish those magical new creatures?
MerryB says
I voted for something other, but would honestly squeal with glee for anything that you might write, House Andrews. I voted for something other, because I would adore to read anything you choose to write, from more Kinsman, to Hugh, to Julie, to Hidden Legacy, whether Arabella or a surprise in that world. Thank you for your tales.
Pinkimmit says
Why are you being so mean and making us choose 1 option only?
I want them alllllllllll!
Jennifer says
I want all the books on your time schedule.
LizH says
You write whatever strikes your fancy! I will read it, and thank you much.
KAY B. says
I HAVE ENJOYED ALL YOUR BOOKS. IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO SEE A NEW EDGE BOOK
YOU ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Leigh says
I love the Hidden Legacy series so much. The characters/voices are some of the best I’ve read in the genre. I wouldn’t mind revisiting Iron Covenant either. That was such a good story. Bottom line, I’ll read just about anything u guys write. Thanks for asking our input.
Monique says
What world do you feel like playing in?
Honestly, your books and worlds are so lovingly created and detailed I don’t think it matters to many of you readers which one you decided to delve into.
Though it has been a dream of mine to see a D&D type fantasy from house Andrews- child of the 80’s
Definitely love them all
Scott U Bickford says
I’m not biased, but Julie has always held a special place in my heart…and Derek’s. If a choice must be made, an easy choice it is.
Ehart says
Can we get IA a time turner so we’re all surprised when these projects all come together quickly while they can still receive the RnR they need ???????????????? (joking… not joking?)
Carolin says
Definetively ‘all of the above’, but since I had to choose my heart went to Julie, No offense to Arabella, Dina, Maud, Hugh, Kinsmen….
That is the wonderful thing about this poll that no matter what you actually end up choosing to pursue next it’ll be a treasure to read. So whatever appeals to you & your creativity will be the best choice no matter what I voted.
Until then wishing you a speedy tea delivery (cannot live without tea either so feel for you there) and nice things to happen.
Anne Sherbert Deegan says
What kind of tea or other things (needlepoint) will you not accept?! 🙂 Asking for a friend in Austin that might randomly gift.
Scott says
I loved blood heir it was an amazing story I definitely want you to continue Julie’s story but when I read iron covenant I loved you guys took a character who I hated with a passion and always hoped would meet an end he so richly deserved. But then you turned him into someone I had sympathy for and found myself rooting for and hoped he would triumph over all the negative in his life. I feel the next book should be iron covenant 2 because it is a story worth telling.
Ps. I still desperately want blood heir 2 someday please and thank you
Julene says
Oh. I was going to see about sending you some tea. But I understand.
So instead I will tell you about a wonderful company here in my home province of BC, that was established in 1894 called Murchies. https://www.murchies.com/about-us/
If you ever are looking for somewhere new to try getting tea from, have a look (and the bonus is your US dollars will go much further here in Canada – Grin).
Nick I says
One issue with the poll, there wasn’t an “all” option. Where you enter a time dilation chamber and publish 10 novels in 2022.
Absent that, Hugh all the way.
AP says
Thank you for asking! ????
I voted but am truly happy with whatever you choose to write next.
Since the next Kinsmen story is coming out this month, that’ll tide me over for a little while. ????
Jae says
Iron Covenant #2 was definitely my #1 vote, because even though it’s been 3 years since the first one, I’ve reread it so many times that the fever pitch of wanting the 2nd (and 3rd) hasn’t abated a single bit.
It’s like I just read it yesterday, and that immediate “I neeeeeed the next one” feeling has just been… sustained at high-wire tension this whole time, it’s just THAT good a book. And, of course, a secondary jolt hits whenever I reread “Magic Triumphs.”
Liz says
House Andrews is so awesome, giving the BDH a chance to weigh in on what we want to see next. As so many of the BDH has stated, I voted, but will be happy to read whatever you write! Preferably something you will ENJOY writing this time ????.
Kate says
I will read anything you care to write. ????
George Bailey says
Tough choice … you didn’t include “All of the Above”, lol !
Nikki says
I wanted to vote for 2 of them! But Hugh won out 🙂
Nancy says
Told my sister about the poll. She votes for Innkeeper Sean and Dina.
CitCat says
Obviously, I want them all.
But what I really, really want is whatever you want to write.
Write what you love and we will love it all the more.
CeciM says
I am happy with whatever you decide to write – your stories never disappoint!
The only easy part of that decision was that there was no choice for The Edge series (I understand).
BUT if you could give us more of George, Jack, Gaston, and Sophie, it’s a mega bonus.
Bella says
This was the hardest test I have ever taken. Your books have gotten me through the last couple of years of shenanigans that we are collectively living. I have read each of them multiple times over. While I want them all now I will wait patiently for option #7 – All of the above.
Susan Kim Reynolds says
OK, I have come to a conclusion no one else has come to, that I know of. I want to know why Kate and Curran chose Wilmington. I would like to see Dali and Jim. I really would be highly interested in more from the Muslim woman doctor who went to rescue Kate. What is going on with George? Details on Barabbas and Christopher and their daughter…..I miss the Kate Daniels universe. If that sort of book would make it easier to write Blood Heir and Iron Covenant #2, I would love to read it. Especially if it involved Roman talking to Elara about the emotional impact of being possessed by an “evil” spirit.
CeciM says
Sorry! It’s Friday, I have a migraine, my computer made me do it, [insert excuse here] . . .
Moderator R says
No problem ????, I took care of it.
Bea says
All of the above please 🙂 🙂
mz says
Maud #2 – wanna see how Helen does
Arabella #1 – wanna see where the Ship might land
Hugh #2 – wanna continue to watch the re-nice-ification of Hugh.
Innkeeper #5 – Officer Marais and Mrs. Marais involvement
Mary says
Re-nice-ification of Hugh – LOL, plus, exactly how I feel, I loved watching that process/growth of the character!! ????
Emma says
All of them please! As that is not helpful my top four requests in order are:
Innkeeper – Blade 2
Iron Covenant 2
Blood Heir 2
Hidden Legacy 7 (As I’m assuming this will be after HL#6 comes out)
But if you’re feeling something else go for it. Don’t diss the muse!
Claudia says
I love all your books. For me all of them have to be pre order as soon as possible. I’ve just listened Hidden Legacy again, read a few times too.. so almost impossible to choose only one!! Soo happy to read anything and everything!! Thank you,
Claudia
ChrisP says
I didn’t pick it cause I’d be worried about you burning yourselves out on it, but I am so happy to see Hidden Legacy #7/Arabella #1 on the list. I’ve always wanted an Arabella trilogy, but after how HL #6 went I really worried that would be the end of the series.
Tammy says
Blood heir 2, please and thank you ????
Tammy says
Arabella 1 would also be great ????
Neal Bravin says
given how much we love anything you write, maybe a ranked poll would be better.
1. Innkeeper Dina and Sean and where are the ‘rents? although that could be another selection entirely;
2. Innkeeper Maud and where are the rents could also fit in here;
3. Blood Heir- Julie, of course, followed by;
4. Arabelle, gotta hear her story, and
5. I would put something in the Edge world ahead of Hugh, I like Hugh, but not now,
6. after something not listed, put Hugh and then something Kingsmen
Neeley Stanton says
I would like an all of the above option. Any of these books would be very welcome!
Emily Ng says
Ahhhh I desperately want to read Hugh’s next book! Iron Covenant 2!! ❤️
But I’m also excited about Blood Heir 2!
Neal Bravin says
Please note that 34 % of the total vote are for more INNKEEPER!!!!
Terri says
LOVE the comment!!
Ayana says
You write it.
I read it.
Thank you.
That is all.
????
BonnieB says
First – either of the Innkeeper books, please. 🙂
Bart says
Wow, over 8000 votes and the poll has been up less than 8 hours.
Michelle says
I voted, but honestly…anything you publish will be pre-ordered and I’ll probably take a day off work to do nothing but read and drink tea….
I’ve followed you for so many years and never been disappointed in anything you’ve written! Sounds all “fan- girl”, but I mean it very sincerely. I can only think of a few authors whose work I’ll buy without even reading a synopsis. You two are so talented. Thanks for all the pleasure you’ve provided through the years!
Sam says
What do I want? Not much… Just Blood Heir #2, Iron Covenant #2 (Hugh #2), Innkeeper #5 (Sean and Dina #5), Innkeeper-Blade # 2 (Maud #2), Hidden Legacy #7 (Arabella #1), Kinsmen # 4, and/or a new series, and/or whatever you feel like doing! (I don’t want you to suffer like you did for Ruby Fever!)
Thank you for asking, hope I helped clear it up for you. 🙂
Kerryn says
Greetings House Andrews – the reality is that I will buy and read any of the above. I must admit I dithered between Innkeeper (Maud), Blood Heir and Iron Covenant as number 1. There was less than a hair between them and no real difference in order.
Roxanne Montgomery says
Ditto!!! LOL
Kathryn says
I voted for another book about Maud followed by a book about Dina followed by a book about Arabella followed by Iron Magic. Since you wouldn’t let me vote more than once. ????
Elizabeth says
I would be happy with anything but…Innkeeper
TErri says
Oh, man!!!
Crystal says
This may be a strange request, but I absolutely loved your novella Of Swine and Roses. It was short, but such a wonderful story with so much potential! I’d love to see it added to and fleshed out, knowing more about the characters, the families, and the world that you built in that story. It was delightful!
Mary says
Anything you all write will be so welcome.
Love the Kinsman books; hate to see them in last place.
But it’s all good (no, great!)
Roxanne Montgomery says
More of Iron Covenant and ANYTHING Innkeeper related, please?
Roxanne Montgomery says
But, as many others said… Everything y’all write is wonderful. Thank you for all of your stories!
Axel says
The next instalment of the Innkeeper series and then the next ten in the series please. You guys are doing a great job keeping us entertained.
Christia says
Definitely more Inn Keeper 🙂
Tracey Zwart says
I voted for Innkeeper-Blade #2 but I’m actually equal to Innkeeper #5 (Sean & Dina). Honestly, I will immediately buy and devour anything that you choose to write, but Innkeeper- verse is my very close favourite. ????
Terri says
Yes, please…………………
Sue says
Sadly we want them all. Happily we’ll be ecstatic with what you choose.
Tink says
I said none of the above only because I’m hoping for Dina’s parents’ story and I’m guessing that’s not what Innkeeper 5 is about.
Winifred C Stroup says
Any and all of the above.
daisy says
So difficult to choose but …. either Blood Heir (Julie #2) or Hidden Legacy: Arabella #1 or basically anything you choose to write …but no pressure, please write what you want/need to write ????????????
Kathleen says
I guess all is not an answer?
If I had to pick, I’m dying to read more of Hugh
Jade says
What about the story of Barabas and Christopher?
Jill says
Although any of them would be great, I’d especially like to read the next Iron Covenant book and Hidden Legacy 7. However….. I think you might need a break from Hidden Legacy, and the Iron Covenant books are not exactly sweetness & light. The Kinsman book you worked on sounded like a nice diversion from the hard slog of “Ruby Fever”, but perhaps another book that is a little lighter would help you recharge your batteries further.
That’s why I suggested Innkeeper Blade 2. Have some more fun with Maud shaking things up with Arland’s family. You could have all sorts of amusing scenes with Maud having a chance to get even with her wretched former in-laws for tossing her and Helen out.
Terri says
Yes! The Inn books would “perhaps another book that is a little lighter would help you recharge your batteries further”.
Jenn says
Hah. Looking at this I was like, wait – I only get to pick one? And then reading the comments I see I was not alone ????. I am so looking forward to an innkeeper for Christmas though, if you could swing it. Anything is good though!
Ronnie says
If there’s no “all of the above” option, couldn’t we at least pick two?!
Any would be good but Innkeeper has a special place in my heart. And am looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Arabella goes looking for!
Terri says
Yes! My heart too!!
Jas says
Yep also the same for first three but not 4th:
Hugh 2; Maud 2; Blood Heir 2 but then Kinsman universe for me.
Diane Mc. says
Anything that you will have fun writing!
Kate McMurry says
Hidden Legacy #7 (Arabella #1) (15%, 1,352 Votes)
I want them all but I want this one the most.
Rhyn says
Yes. Thank you very much for allowing us input, I have truly appreciate this opportunity. Maybe if there is ever a next time find a way to offer us Single Transferable Vote instead of First Past the Post?
Rhyn says
After all, as my father was fond of saying, there’s Lies, there’s Damned Lies, and then there’s Statistics. 🙂
Shannon says
I vote Arabella. Especially if we can age her to at least about mid 20’s ????
Cayenna says
I chose Hugh because he’s such an interesting character, but Julie and Arabella would rock my world. I know I’m going to fall in love with kinsman even more after this next book so I’m just here for the long haul. I love your books thanks for everything!
Ines says
Voted, looked at the results and it’s very close to my ranking of reading wants. Please keep writing.
Patti says
I would like some mostly happy short stories about our favorite characters in the Kate Daniels world. Births, parties, shopping, building a house, etc.
Lynn Sanborn says
I have an ongoing fantasy where you return to the Edge but write it as urban (well rural actually) fantasy instead of a series of discreet romances. I suppose you’d need mostly new characters with just an occasional visit with an old favorite.
Tom L says
It is worth pointing out that Maud plus Dina is 33%, outpolling all others. I would love to see them find their parents.
Terri says
BRILLIANT!!!
Dianna Kilgore says
I want them all but voted for Maud. I want to know about Klaus. I will be happy whatever you want to do first because I love you and all your books.
Terri says
I have the Inn Keeper books on Kindle and Audio. Have listed to them all over and over at least once a year. Only books I read this much is Amanda Quick (Jayne Ann Krentz).
Lily says
I’m obsessed with Blood Heir ????
I’ve been holding myself back from reading the current 2 books over and over, just so I don’t oversaturate myself lol
Nikki Bauman says
I would really love an Innkeeper! That is my series! I prefer Dina. I wouldn’t cry if it was Maud though, especially since you ended her book on a bit of a cliffhanger. I need to know more about Gerard the arbitrator and brother!
Terri says
AGREE!!!!
Nikki Bauman says
I mean Klaus! I am getting my people mixed up! Argh!
E says
It is very hard to pick just 1 story to vote on. There are so many awesome choices. You guys make the best worlds. Thank you.
CathyTara says
Actually, I love all your books. But Helen and Maud have captured my heart. But write what you love, we will reap the benefits of your enjoyment.
Jodi Morris says
Maud and Helen are my favorites too, much as I love all the other characters.
EmmaC says
Is the book with Roman still a thing?
If not, then either Hugh or Julie 2 or Arabella 1…. I don’t mind which order, I like them all!
Alison says
I voted something not listed b/c I’d like to read any of them.
Karen M says
Thank you very much for this opportunity! This is only my second comment, although I read your blog regularly (first comment was extolling the virtues of Colorado). I loved Maud’s book! It is the one book that I reread on a regular basis. So I voted for Maud!
Morris Mary says
All of the above but I could put them in preferred order.
Char says
I voted but truly, write what gives you joy! Thank you for all the wonder and new worlds.
Melissa says
I want the book you are completely, passionately driven to write.
sarafina says
Hey Mod R, is Hugh #2 already written? Ilona has spoken of it’s darkness before, like it’s just sitting on the hard drive. That’s the one I want next, btw.
Thanks!
Moderator R says
No, Hugh 2 is not already written, but elements of its plot are figured out. ????
sarafina says
Thanks!!
RoadRunner says
I voted for Innkeeper, because I want to find out what Sebastian North means. But any of the top five would be greatly appreciated!
Beth says
I’ll be honest I’m just happy whenever we get something. So my true answer if whatever the Author wants to write.
NCatt says
Whatever you choose to write will be received with cries of joy.
Andrea D Smith says
I’ve been looking forward to Ruby Fever. I’ve hated the struggleand stress RF caused. Please write whatever character that’s whispering in your ear loudest. Or write something new that’s moving you guys.
Amylee Caffee says
I would LOVE to read a full novel continuing Grace of Small Magics. 🙂
Please, please, please! 🙂
mary corso says
First choice is innkeeper with Sean and Dina with additional info on Klaus and more on parents. Or a book with Maud as I think hers was my favorite. The vampire world was amazing.
Second choice Hugh or Julie.
Third choice Arabella.
Couldn’t get into the others at all.
Chloe says
Julie, Dina and Sean, Arabella.
Arabella, Dina and Sean, Julie.
Dina and Sean, Julie, Arabella.
Also yes to everything else!
Write what you’re excited about. A serial like Innkeeper would be a super treat. We’ll read it all!
mary corso says
Actually I want more maid and the vampires. I want a confrontation with her former in-laws and more of her daughter. Add to that the innkeepers and Klaus and parents for an extra interesting book.
mary corso says
PS sorry for mistyping. I meant of course Maud. Have read it three times and still a favorite.
Succotash says
I will send Tea, but it isn’t a gift it is bribe. I want either the Arabella or the Innkeeper novel. I like Hugh but I like the worlds of innkeeper or hidden legacy better
Lauren says
I feel like if you ran this survey after the release of Fated Blades you’d get a bigger Kinsman swing. Honestly, just do what inspires you. Sorry, no help really. Huggles.
Laura says
So hard to decide! I’m looking forward to reading all of the options listed…
Camille says
Honestly, I’d like them all (over the next few years), but I will buy any book y’all write.
Mary says
I want both Innkeepers!
Jenny says
ALL OF THE ABOVE.
#BDH
Tiger Lily says
Anything you write. I began reading Kate (Magics) when you only had the first 2 of the series completed. Believe it or not, I used to pray that I wouldn’t die (car crash, illness, etc.) Until the series was finished and I got to read it. Since I was lucky enough to have that happen everything else you write is gravy. I will read all of it and just feel blessed.????????
Chris says
Just … whatever makes you happy. I’ve treasured everything so far, so … enjoy!
Kylie in Australia says
I had to pick Blood heir 2, just couldn’t go past Julie.
Was re reading the snippets/short story on the blog and read the Sandra one and had totally forgotten that kate knows Julie’s back. Blew my mind twice.
I was surprised Arabella’s story wasn’t higher and everyone in the comments previously has been ‘so can’t wait for Arabella’.
Maybe the BDH was being considerate (is that an oxymoron?? :)) since you had such a hard time with Ruby Fever.
Thanks for asking us to share our preferences, even if it just an ah huh, interesting….
Nancy says
Yeah, that is why I voted for Maud 2. Give them a HL break.
Jenn says
Love you guys and your awesome imaginations! Truly, I will read whatever you want to write; don’t make me choose!
Kris says
How about . . . Whatever brings you joy to write. Seriously. Would I love any of them? Sure. But happy authors are more important to me. Cause if you find joy in it, you’ll most likely want to continue, and we all win.
If I had to pick one and only one, I’d have a really hard time. But I’d go Julie. Cause the world is still too dark for Hugh’s arc, despite how much as I’ve come to absolutely love the big oaf’s story.
Inge Beltoft says
I would love them all, like so many other from BDH.
I feel unable to vote since they all sounds good. I will buy any of them.
I would like you to write what you feel would be most interesting for you to write, or what is calling most to you.
Lk says
I am good with anything you produce as I enjoy all the series. Even a unrelated book will be nice.
Madlen says
Oh noooo couldn’t decide between Iron Covenant and Kinsmen #4 (Love everything you do but these I crave the most at the moment) – now that I‘ve voted I want to change my choice because Kinsmen is so low on the list 😀 Love that world! Cannot count how many times I’ve read silver shark! Also a sequel/full book to of swine and roses would simply be AWESOME!!!
Helen says
I saw this post while on a break from work. Started arranging the options in order of most preferred, realized it was too important to do on a break so put it aside for this evening. Just realized it is a vote for one option. Huh, bewildered as I would love them all…Just write what you would like to write, We’ll love it. Please stay safe. Have a good weekend.
Penelope27 says
Hardest decision to make! I agree with everyone else, one of each, please.
Marie Foster says
I would really like a new innkeeper novel. Dina’s brother had just showed up and I thought we’d finally find out something more about their missing parents. Please, when will they be back?
Lisa says
Please, please Arabella! I absolutely adore the characters personality, and would love to see more of her!
Merran says
This is a really hard vote! I am so thrilled that all are possibilities (especially Maud #2 and Arabellla! Every time I read Sweep of the Blade I love it more). I had to vote for Julie but I really hope you get to them all, in whatever order works for you.
Emma Dowdeswell says
All the things, very hard to choose just one
Denise Rabidou says
Maud #2 Innkeeper Blade #2
Bibliovore says
I am cool with whatever you are happy to write.
Jennifer Sweet says
anything
trish henry says
I’m just grateful you keep writing! Anything you want to write, I want to read. So party on! ????????????
Laura says
I voted but pick what makes you happy. I will happily read any of these options to include a new unknown property
Kat M. says
This was impossible. How dare you make me choose.
I mean… What I mean to say is, I’ll read whatever you write in whatever order you write it. I love them all. They’re all delicious and I love you guys for writing them for me.
Tina says
Suggest that your next survey (hehehe – see how I slipped that in there ?) use mixed rank voting so we can vote for more than one !
Kirstin says
All of them in the order listed please
Gloria says
Any of the above. I can’t decide which from the list. Love every title and concept. All please. Lol.
Anna Stanford says
I want them all… but I admit it’s been too long for Hugh, that needs to move forward! But I want Arabella asap too…
Regardless, ANYTHING you choose to give us will be more than welcome!
Mari says
This was definitely a cruel and unusual form of punishment. It was like choosing between puppies (exciting, captivating, amazingly written puppies).
Jelena says
My curiosity about Elara burns with the fire of a thousand suns, so I voted Hugh. I just gots to know.
Manda says
All of them? ????. Seriously I love them all.
If I had to pick one not on the list I’d love to see what you guys would do with some sort of Indiana Jones/Laura Croft explorer tomb raider type of couple.
Strike says
At the time of this comment the results were almost exactly in the order of for what I would like to see next …Julie,Hugh, Innkeeper, Maud, Arabella
Julie & Derek and the development of all that has a special place because the 10+Kate stories that led to it … not to mention the TWO versions we were fortunate enough to read as it was created … there are so many great scenes that were enjoyed during that (even if they got cut/modified) no to mention the character development arcs/questions/clifhangers… D&J first/Erra/and ofc all the secondary/supporting characters Barabas&Christopher their daughter, the street child girl(who makes me think of Saiman)&Uncle Spymaster…not to mention the connections & tie-ins to Hugh&Elara …I’m still on the edge of my seat to see the whole of the “put down that cow” scene not to mention the details of how Bucky the unicorn?.?.? And Julie’s meat eating horse are connected/related and what exactly both of them are….
Not to mention the story has a seriously horrible bad bad guy … (which reminds me of the bad guy in “On the Edge” but on a much grander scale …the solution by necessity will be exactly the same.)
Still … write what you want, write what you feel… your internal connections and feelings about what you writing DIRECTLY affect the final product(how couldn’t it??)
I would rather wait a Patrick Rothfuss level of time for a proper conclusion than have you two suffer to meet an expectation or a perceived expectation as to what to write next.
All the good feels & best wishes & you do you …then put all that into whatever you choose to do next.
Sylvia says
Normally I am happy with just reading here (and any book you publish), but this I have to comment:
As many already wrote: I want ALL of them, but of course you can’t wirte all at the same time – so inconvenient ????.
So, I voted for Blood Heir, because all the other stories right now are at a “happy place” for me, but I am like “on pins and needles” to know how this story arc continues.
But if any book has much less votes, please don’t see it as a vote to not write.
And as I am writing a comment right now, using the opportunity: thank you for this amazing blog and all your even more amazing books.
Kate says
I will read whatever you put out next & this poll was a hard choice to make ???? I did pick Hugh, because I have more Innkeeper books to read/listen to & a 2nd Hugh book would be awesome! Though Julia & Derrick was a right there as well ????
Is it ridiculous that I am listening to Sweep in Peace while I read this blog?
Pat says
Since you asked… Another Edge book. Or something in the Kare Daniels universe.
Logan Matthew Teague says
This had better just be a vote on the order of the books, not which ones get written at all. I realize that’s highly unlikely, but just the thought of it makes me psychotic.
Moderator R says
Yes, as described, it’s input on which book comes next ????
Linda says
Hehahahe
Verslint says
Why is there not an all of the above option? Because somewhere in life one must learn not to be greedy…..
Linda Trainor says
Yes I thought that to
Linda Trainor says
I want to say yes yes YES to them all. How can I choose it’s like picking a favourite pet thought our cat wins. See I can pick a favourite pet but not this I would feel awful. So write your hearts out and do all as you have time and are moved. Love you for the chanceLinda
Smeech says
Roman’s book. Eeyore pajamas and a pagan dark god priest.
Stefanie says
Oh yes! A Roman book would be awesome!
Cmc says
What to do! I want them all!
Hahaha, just kidding, thank you for your hard work! Pay attention to your health and rest!
^__^
Rene O says
All? Sorry I can’t decide I love them all! ????
mdy says
I picked Blood Heir mainly because I feel like the characters in all the other options are in a fairly ‘happy’ state.
Ordinarily, I would be chomping at the bit to read more about Hugh (especially since I beta-read the first book!) but we luckily got a glimpse of his near-future in the final KD book.
Consequently, Julie is the one who’s still in limbo in my mind, so that’s the itch that I hope gets scratched next.
Ruud says
I made a choice, but I have to be honest, I want them all.
Siti says
Missing the “All of the above” button ????
An says
Innkeeper.
Michele G says
You guys write it, I will read it, I will love it and I will still want more.
Thank you for your patience with the insatiable BDH. ❤️
Gundega says
So #1 for me is Hugh & Elara- sooooo curious to see more of them. They’re gonna be lots of fun, hehehe.
Followed by Maud – that little tidbit at the end….ohohoho, she’s got more power than one imagined, also – need more of Helen & Arland interactions ^^
Then Arabella -’nuff said.
🙂
Marie S says
Ditto. I want them all too! So hard to choose.
My gut reaction: Julie/Derek!? (with hopefully some Kate and Curran), followed by Arabella/?, then Dina/Sean, Iron Covenant #2 (with hopefully some Kate and Curran + Julie and Derek – my timing could be off on Derek though), and so on…
Too much? You and/or Mod R can tell me to make noise like a bee and buzz off. ????
Seriously though I will take what I get. I’m excited!!!
Thank you.
Teri says
The thought of any and all of those books makes me super happy. Whichever one you want to write next is the one I want–you guys deserve to write books that make you happy–write what YOU feel like writing next.
Leonie Z says
I think my head just exploded trying to make a decision. ????Truely I would read anything you two write.
Shivaun says
All of the above was my real vote. I understand that’s not possible and it’s really a compliment to you because I love them all.
Marianne says
Why is « all of the above » not an option ? I’m kidding.
Please write the book you want to write. It can be the next volume in a serie, a one-shot novel, a new universe or an already existing one. It can be released as a serial on the blog or only once finished. It can be a collection of short stories if you want or full-length.
And if you don’t feel like it, you don’t have to write it
Thank you for writing all this amazing books already
BelleBok says
I also wanted an “All of the above” vote although I voted for Maud #2…..lovely to know what’s been happening with this world!
Esther Fonterosa Sanchez says
I try to check it all, but it didn´t work.
Helen says
Everything. Oops sorry anything. But probably what ever is chronologically next in Kate’s world
Kathleen says
Me? I like snippets and your blog. If you want to write another novel that’s cool too, but snippets and the blog are both very good.
Jess says
I would happily accept any of your author offerings 😀 if I had to prioritize, I would put Hugh last though (apparently against the general trend haha), the other stories and settings were just so much more exciting for me. I loved the Kinsmen stories you put out pre-Hidden Legacy, so those could be fun to explore as we haven’t gotten that much from that world yet. I also really enjoyed Maud’s book but I would love a return back to Sean and Dina before continuing with her story. But whatever works best for you! And now I think I might do a Christmas re-read on Innkeeper..
Claire says
Is there a all of the above button?
Karen L says
I think your poll should have had what order are you interested in! lol Because at least half of those I am equally wanting, since I’m just that needy.
Ms. Kim says
+++++++1000
Denise Müller says
I voted for Hugh. Ihave to know what was the matter with the cow ????.
Delph says
Inkeeper S and arabella.Yes i am very restrained right now 😀
Cheryl says
I want a Roman (the volhv) story too 🙂
Bj says
# # # Greedy
So many all of the above
Lois McMaster Bujold wrote “The Physicians of Vilnoc” about a plague that is not COVID-19
I think it would be fun/ cathartic to have a short story collection about plagues with each story set in a different Ilona Andrew’s story location
If not the next main project, maybe a side project
# # # Video Game
If that is too close to home, having someone in the Kinsmen/ Inn keeper universe stuck in a video game and trying to finish the video game/ go home
I really like the Anime for Destruction Flag Otome, but agree the author should have stopped the light novels and anime after the protagonist solves the game ( anime season 1 )
# # # Harem
both ideas ( BDH all of the above and dating games ) remind me of harem light novels/ anime
Lois McMaster Bujold has also written two takes in harems ( see notes )
It would be interesting to see Ilona Andrews deconstruct/ play straight a harem romance

Damn… so hard to chose. I vote for Innkeeper #5 because it so relaxing to read innkeeper but i want to read them all.
But i am little confused, i just read Book 1 of kinsmen (3 short stories) and soon there will be Kinsman #2 but in voting there is Kinsman #4 so does it mean there will be another Kinsman 😀
Moderator R says
Hey Marek,
The Kinsmen series is made up of novellas ????. What you read was the Kinsmen Universe collection, which included Kinsmen 1 and 2 plus a bonus story (A Mere Formality).
Kinsmen 3, Fated Blades, will be released on the 23rd of November (in just 17 days!). Here for excerpt and preorder links https://ilona-andrews.com/featured-release/
I hope this clears things out ????
Esther says
I want them all what i prefer Dina en Sean
Anna says
Super grateful for all the books which have been created so far!
Is there a possibility for book about Augustin from Hidden Legacy?
Honey Bunny says
I’m with the “all of them” crowd, but if I had to choose, I wouldn’t care as long as it’s in the Innkeepers-world *hehe*
Cissy Shuler says
I would love more Innkeeper and Iron Covenant, please.
Sian says
Anything you choose to write and enjoy writing.
Ms. Kim says
+1
Andrea says
Please do Innkeeper.. it‘s been so long. I wanna know more about Klaus.
Melissa B says
I love them all, voted for Blade #2 as its a little newer and I love Innkeeper. However, truly I would love you guys to write something that invigorates, inspires, or totally surprises you two all of a sudden. Does not matter if its with a much loved character from your previous books or something totally new thats been germinating for awhile with you two.
MALLEN says
Difficult choice anything blood heir, hidden legacy, inn keeper I want.
Chiara says
I mean, the most obvious answer was “everything” ????
But my top two choices were Blood Heir #2 (Julie #2) and Inkeeper-Blade #2 (Maud#2) .
It was so difficult to choose, but I finally relented and decided for Blood Heir. That said, I’ll read any book you will write and I’m sure I’ll love it
LauraKC says
I’ve looked at this post a couple of times. It reminds of me of the times I’ve travelled with my family. When we go to an art gallery/museum, before we enter, I say that I’m going to ask them, “if the art gallery allowed you to take home one thing, what would it be?” It’s always so interesting to find out what people like, and why. I think that as fans, we’re so lucky there are so many universes Ilona and Gordon have created. I’ve enjoyed reading everything, and I’ve enjoyed reading the BDH’s comments! I’m imagining the people who would be happy to see something completely new as the forefront of new art wave.
Ms. Kim says
That was tough for me to narrow to just one. Besides Maud (whom I still have so many questions about), I also want Arabella. And let’s not forget about Leon.
I would also like an update on Kate and Curran because Curran is the best male lead ever. Curran felt so real, and tough and while loving Kate, very independent from her. Loved that Curran post, bidding against the pervert. And also being ruthlessly willing to take the lead from her at times. I like it that he’s not a metro sexual. Where have the real men gone? ‘Course, I’m an old foggy, born in 1952.
Sean is great too, but I can’t image where else the Sean and Dina story can go.
Ms. Kim says
I forgot George, Jack and Lark. But I figured (hoped) they’d get a mention in any Innkeeper (Maud or Dina) you might do.
Kelley says
I love votes where you win no matter what you choose! Excited about all of these.
Ms. Kim says
+1
Lana says
Ehem…all of them?
Sam says
I was afraid to vote my mind kept going back to the tea party you wrote. If I didn’t vote for Iron Covenant the KD fans would siege my home on mass, but club wielding Arabella is worth it. I’m setting the wards now and trying to hire a few mercs.
Arlenys says
I’d love to have a new series of George, Jack, Gaston and Sophie, I know I’ve said it before but just in case you haven’t notice
Love
Jessie West says
So hard to pick just one, as they all sound wonderful. But, most importantly, I’m excited to read *whatever* you want to write!
Jo Ann K Robinson says
Looks like the voting is running relatively close this morning (11/6/2021). I voted for the Legacy Series. As a long time reader (age 77; started age 4) I know that authors can’t always pick what their brains are dwelling on. Best of luck for you folks and happy holidays.
Jessica says
My husband voted on our other computer, and now I can’t cast my vote. We’re both Ilona Andrews fans, but we want different books next!
Jessica says
I want the next Blood Heir!
FBR says
I picked one, because that was how the question was set up, but I’ll be happy with any of them. All your worlds are interesting.
Dorothy says
I really miss Kate and Curran. I would love to see them in Wilmington, NC doing their world-saving thing. That’s why I chose “something not listed above”. I would love it if Curran did 23 and me and found a relative. I know he grew up in the woods on a mountainside with his Prime lion hermit family but those parents sprang from somewhere. Maybe they chose to relocate to North Carolina because that’s his home state? And … he has unfinished business there?
Dobercatmom says
Frankly, I’ll read ANYTHING you write. So go where the muse takes you, we’ll read it.
Claire Davies says
I would genuinely be so grateful for any from 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6. 🙂
Rita says
Arabella #1!
Bits and snippets seen in the last year realy intriqued me.
She is different.
Lisanti says
Whatever is going to make up for the struggle with Ruby Fever; something that flows trippingly off your keyboards and makes you say “This was fun”.
Holly Jessie says
Number 1…oh please number 1… will happily sit on my hands until the others come out….
Barbara says
While I totally agree with those who whined, “All of the above,” since I’m limited to one choice, I’ll only say that Iron Covenant 2 is already been mentioned a few times in prior blogs as being “in progress.” Also, it’s lonely sitting out there all by itself with no following novel to keep it company. It needs a friend.
Barbara says
Also, over 11,000 votes and sitting at 893 comments at this moment – I’d say you have a great many blog readers….
Susanna says
Whatever you want to write I will read. Thank you so much for being wonderful writers and people who interact with us.
Gaëlle from France says

Inkeeper Blade 2, please.
Vivienne says
Voted, but would be happy with any of those!!
CONNIE BALTHROP says
I’m changing my vote. Innkeeper-Blade. I want to read about how Maud deals with her ex-inlaws. But a sequel to all your books would be great.
Marianne says
I voted Innkeeper #5 because I’ve got my husband hooked on them and he was grumpy when he ran out of books in it. To cheer him up, I started him on Hidden Legacy. He complains about the amount of romance, but I’m pretty sure he’s in the middle of the last book of that series too. 😀 But really, I’d be thrilled to get any and all of those books whenever they’re written, whichever order they come in.
Michelle Balkenhol says
I’ve often wondered what that Little Red Riding Hood story would look like, if you finished it.
Karen says
I’ll read anything you care to write…however I am not sure about waiting patiently…???? Is it ok to be impatient??
Kathleen Bales says
Would also love to see another Kate Daniels book at some point in the future!
Ms. Kim says
Yea, what’s Curran ruling/leading/managing/fixing now?
Vanessa says
I voted Hugh 2, just because it’s been so long sinc we heard from tbem and i want the couple to get their hea.
However I’ve little stomach for dark things so about to make a potentially controversial suggestion; Is it possible to gloss over the darkest bits, just so we know Elora’s background and how it’s resolved? Make Hugh’s series a duology instead of a trilogy.
I want them to get to the part where Hugh yells at his kid to “put down that cow!”. Yes, I’m the kinda monster that reads the last chapter of a book when things get really tense in a story ????
Although Edge 2 is my favorite of your Edge series, during rereads i always skip past the scenes where Spider has/fuses Genevie. That was too uncomfortable to read. There are no other of your books where I’ve tapped out like that, not even Alphas, which i quite enjoyed.
Anyway, I’ll be happy with whatever book you guys are inspired to write next. You’re one of my favourite authors in terms of writing and definitely the top for audience interaction.
Love y’all lots!
Ms. Kim says
+1.
Maria says
All of them. If I have to choice: Hugh 2.
Jaye says
Okay, I must be a little odd (totally okay with me;), but I’ve always wanted to read more from the world you created in your short story, Of Swine and Roses…
Totally agree with the rest of the BDH, though- would be very happy if you chose to write any of the options you have posted;).
Actually, forget that- don’t worry about the BDH- pretty sure we’d buy whatever you both choose to write next regardless. Please pick something you’d both get a kick out of writing! Sounds like the last one was a slog.
christina savva says
Innkeeper series is first????
Pamela M Blome says
I’m behind on the innkeeper, so hidden legacy wins.
Elizabeth Rogers says
Hmmm tried not to be greedy so I chose Innkeeper #5 but I would love all of the above ????
Diana says
Y’all write it …I’ll read it …and love it.
Layla says
Oh god. It’s like asking which is my favorite child.
So
1st. Either Hugh or Blood Heir
2nd. Innkeeper Dina and Sean.
3rd. Which ever one from #1 didn’t get written.
Adrian hora says
What is easier for you to write.
Something you don’t get stuck in it, or not to much :).
What you write in joy, makes me happy.
Star Sharp says
I would love to learn more about the innkeeper Brother. Does he find the parents?
SHEILA JONES says
Please, please can we learn what happened to Dina, Maud and Klaus’ parents.
tina henry says
Really, just want whatever you both feel like writing. I have enjoyed ALL your series, pretty much equally. If there is any partiality, it would be Hidden Legacy series, anything Maud, and ANYTHING Kate and Curran. No desperation here. Well, maybe a little.
Jane says
Innkeeper is my favourite. Absolutely love it. I’m looking very forward to reading it whenever you get to writing it. Very worth waiting for. Thank you for offering the vote option. I don’t know any other author who shares so much with readers.
Fiona says
I would happily read anything you write. I voted Innkeeper (I chose Dina and Sean) as the Innkeeper books are in my very small select list of comfort reads for when I am sick, stressed or otherwise off. There’s something about the aesthetic of these novels that speaks to me and soothes me. I laughed so hard when you wrote the post about your different fan types! It was only then that I truly realised I love the Innkeeper series the most (as the level of love I feel for all your books is ridiculously high! You guys are my favourite authors hands down and I read voraciously, often 5+ books a week, and I’m working mum with young kids and husband). But, having given it reflection, I think you should write the book that will give you both the most pleasure and enjoyment to write. Ruby Fever was a long slog, so give yourselves a change of tempo and choose something that gives you joy. The BDH will read anything and everything you write! And will love it.
Heather says
So hard to choose between Arabella, Julie and Hugh!!! I picked Arabella because I had to pick one… Probably because she just seems so spunky and fun and hilarious. But no matter what you end up writing I’ll be so excited for!
Ms. Kim says
+100.
Linda says
I chose the innkeeper since that was my first series and I have read it several times but….all your worlds are fascinating and I am looking forward to your next book.
Does the one that inspires you. We will love it!
Lena says
I think giving two different options for Dina & Maud was a bit tricksy, won’t they all have to work together to save their parents? Klaus may have a lead, and both sisters would want to have their parents at their weddings. And what has Orro been watching on TV? Maybe he can go on Chopped and show em how it’s done.
But ultimately, write whatever feels right to you, I want to know what happens next for all the worlds and characters, and the thought of a new IA series makes me giddy ❤
Susan B says
This was a tough decision. Thought you might want a break from Hidden Legacy, so no Arabella #1. Hugh #2 & Julie #2 were definite possibilities, but the Innkeeper series was my gateway drug to HA addiction I went with Innkeeper. But which one of the Innkeepers?? Finally settled on Maud’s 2nd book, though I almost chose Dina & Sean. Hard to make up my mind.
But most of all I wish for you two to write a book that isn’t a struggle this time. And know that we of the BDH will gladly buy whatever you write as soon as we can get our hands on it.
Thank you for all the wonderful hours I’ve been able to spend in the worlds you have created.
PPlor says
We need to know about the chicken!!!!!
Regina says
Something not listed above:
I’d like to see a project that is fun for you as writers and that answers some of the BDH questions. There are so many supporting characters that we adore, but you don’t have enough of an opportunity to explore their back stories in the book series. I’d love to read a book that was made up of short & long stories that gives us a snapshot into their origins. Using Hidden Legacy as an example: What was Bugg’s Life like before being altered? What drove Grandma F’s passion to fix armored vehicals? How did Nevada’s dad escape from his dreadful mother? etc… I’m certain that the BDH has peppered you with enough questions over the years that you’re bound to find some that you’d enjoy answering in a short story anthology form. All that said, I just want you to be happy while you’re producing your next best seller. Your joy in the process matters.
Natalie says
You do realize you just opened a box of the best dark chocolate truffles in the world formed into just different shapes and asked me to just only pick one as my favorite?… There is no way I can choose only one????????????
RT Boyce says
Oh hell yes I want to read a book centered on Arabella. I love the world of Hidden Legacy, every book makes it richer and more intriguing, and Arabella would be a main character unlike any other: she seems like a lively bundle of different things – mischievous, competent, fashionable, savvy, loyal, dramatic; she’s not angsty- she’s comfortable with her monstrous power and wielding it against others; and if she wants something she WILL go after it. I’ve loved the Arabella stories and I would love to spend a whole book with her.
But most of all I want Iron Covenant #2. Two blood-soaked powerful characters with dark pasts and secrets and deadly enemies…run a large farm growing medicinal herbs. The only place in the KD world I’d want to live! Book 1 just got us started… who are the Remaining, what’s in the basement, why does Nez want the castle, what’s killing the plants? What crazy thing is Hugh going to do next? What else hasn’t Elara told him? I need to know!
Debra K Hoffmaster says
Honestly?? I want to live long enough to have them all!!
Marieke van Hout says
My husband and I would really like to read more from the Innkeeper series, specifically about Klaus and what happened with Dina’s parents. I would also love to know if George and Sophie end up together♥️
Jessica says
So hard to choose just one, wish there was ranked voting! Sad there isn’t more love for Hidden Legacy so far in the voting. I started reading Kate Daniels series and loved it, but Hidden Legacy has been my favorite. The magic system is super interesting and I love all the mafia style politics between the houses.
Aj says
So I cheated, I think. I picked Hugh because I thought we’d get a twofer since it might get into Julie’s story as well. I will honestly be happy with whatever you choose as I love all the stories and will get them all regardless of order published.
Joshua says
I would kind of like to see a hidden Legacy romance involving Leon.
ReadKnitSnark says
I didn’t vote. If you write it, I will buy & read it. I’m not much fussed about which world/project/series is up next, because I know that whichever it is, I will enjoy it.
I’m just grateful that you keep on doing the writing… and the sharing on the blog. Smooches!
Rachel says
You guys are the best.
I think it’s amazing and wonderful that you would ask what your fans want most and take that into consideration.
Love how interactive you are with your fans, that you keep us continuously up to date with what you’re doing. Thank you!!
Tania says
I agree. Very cool move to ask your fans for input on what to write next.
Susan says
Whatever you would most enjoy working on – As a dyed in the wool BDH member I would buy all those options on pre-order 😉
Lyra says
I’m sad that Kinsman is so low, but at the same time we’re getting a new one in 16-days, so my vote is torn between Julie #2 or Arabella #1 (or Augustine #1? 😉 😉 :)!!!)
“Silver Shark” will remain my comfort story. I go back and re-read it on a the regular when I need a little soothing.
Va says
Anything!
Julia says
It was SO hard to pick between Arabella and Julie. I went with Blood Heir #2 but honestly, it was a coin flip. So excited for Ruby Fever!
Simon says
Iron Covenant was the first book of yours I read so yes, absolutely dying to see the next one.
Failing that Hidden Legacy has been, by far, the series that has drawn me in the most. So yes, roll out the Arabella .
Gloria Magid says
This was a hard choice. However, Maud’s story ends in a cliffhanger, with her brother showing up. I assume such a story would intersect with Sean and Dina’s story, because that would put the three siblings and their two lives together and maybe resolve the mystery of what happened to their parents. Even if it doesn’t, it will hopefully end in Maud’s wedding, Dina’s or both.
Will read anything, but I really want to be a “guest” at Maud’s wedding!
Joe says
Looks like a new Blood Heir with an appearance by Hugh would be popular.
Mary S says
If I could wish a book writing order, (since unfortunately you can’t write them all at once) my wish would be: Either Innkeeper in 1&2 spot, Hidden Legacy nipping at their heels at 3rd, Blood Heir #4, Iron Covenant #5, Kinsmen #6. I hate to even rank it, because I love them all and will be happy with whatever you give me. If you ask me in 2 days I might give you a different answer ????
I Don’t Remember says
Hardest Poll Ever.
Iron Covenant came out ahead by a nose.
Innkeepers were tied neck and neck. I’m dying to know what Klaus has to say!
I Don’t Remember says
Don’t know why that pic came up, delete if needed!
Dave_5k says
Pondering why the innkeeper werewolf gets lead billing, while the vampire gets left off 🙂
Ruth says
Ruby Fever was such a slog and I felt so bad for you. Please write whichever project will bring you joy.
.303 bookworm says
Voted for something else because the option I wanted isn’t listed. I REALLY wanted to vote for “whatever House Andrew’s feels most excited about”. So please count my vote as that 🙂 if you ever get all the way through these comments – Holy Cow!
Oona says
I voted for Maud 2.. things were going..SO WELL lol.. but really anything you write is going to be good to read, so I cant complain that’s only at 17 percent of the vote! 🙂 Just, write what you want to. Like a good BDH member, I will read it. And pass it on 🙂 PS. I’m leaving you a Pirate Day music vid by my fave (well except for home free) acapella group.. enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO8NEsx9m58
Dara Lewis says
Not fair we had to vote for either Maud or Dina’s next installment in the Innkeeper series. We want them both! If you total up both books, Innkeeper wins!
Nancy says
I agree with Dara! 🙂 a new Innkeeper (Dina or Maud) would be lovely!
Allison says
I am with my fellow BDH on this one… there is no one, there is only ALL
Lisa says
Just reread Maud #1. I just enjoy Maud and Helen. Love the way Arland responds to both Maud and Helen. Maud is just so strong and keeps fighting for their relationship. Though innkeeper 5 would be interesting also.
On third thought the various teasers in Julie #1 and hidden legacy make me want them also.
Jack Cross says
ANYTHING you wish to write.
Any of the above, or anything else.
Since I had to pick one, I voted
Iron Covenant #2 (Hugh #2)
Tiana says
I wonder if this survey would be different after the kinsmen novella is actually out!! I imagine quite a few people would vote for the next kinsman novel!
Silence says
Wish it was a check box so we could choose several. Both innkeeper, kinsmen and arabella have me wanting more.
Mel says
I voted for “Something not listed above”, because “all of the above” wasn’t an option. LOL
Yaya says
I picked something else. I would love a return of Kate and Curran story. Raising their son. My favorite series.
Kathryn Albert says
this is asking me what child I love best
Bea says
Alphas: Origins
Swati says

CharisN says
This is so DIFFICULT to choose!
Gaynor says
I love all of your books so any of them is wonderful but my heart says Hugh Hugh Hugh xxxxxxx
Karen says
Like everyone else, I want it all. Given I can’t have that, what-ever’s most fun for you to write at the moment.
Layla says
I couldn’t decide between Blood Heir 2 or Hugh 2. I actually want them all ☺
Wouldn’t it make more sense to have Hugh 2 first (and know what the boy can do to cows) because it chronologically takes place before Blood Heir 2.
April says
I’m having a hard time picking between Hugh, Julie and Arabella. I’m gonna have to go with Julie just to see what happens between her and Derek.
Audrey says
How to make people go stir crazy in one question…
I want this one, no, this one, no, the Other one, no, argh loosing my mind !!
Swati says
What do I want?…
A little bit of Sean n Dina,
Also maybe some Julie & Derek,
And some Hugh-Elara,
And Maud Arland,
And Arabella,
And Catalina Alessandro,
And Kate Curran,
And Nevada Connor,
And Meli Celino,
And…
Umm
I’m sorry, I just need my next Ilona Andrews Dose. This withdrawal is not good for us, BDH.
Anything you guys write is awesome. And all these stories are great.
Give us anything.
PS. Can’t wait for 23rd :))
Swati says
I’m really sorry, if my comment seemed overbearing by any chance. Didn’t mean it to come out like that.
We all deserve some breaks in life. Your books are those breaks for us.
But we can wait. You find your Ilona Andrews, take some time off and write at your pace.
We all love you.
Swati says
PS. Please choose Julie#2.
Wenonah Lyon says
I voted for Julie, but would be thrilled with anything. However, Best Option: ignore your readers, take a nice long vacation. We can wait.
Kelly says
As everyone else stated more eloquently than I could (thanks Freddie) All of the above would have been my choice! Since only one selection was allowed Iron Covenant #2 is my first pick. Though everything you write makes us all very happy????
Sue says
Can I change my vote to Hugh #2?
Stacey says
The Iron Covenant, i’m dying to read about Elara and Hugh)
Jessica Rider says
For fun of reading, I want Hugh #2. But there are things I need to know from other stories! Please don’t abandon these unresolved questions—come back to them some day:
1) Is Linus Caesar? Is he related to the Baylors? We need to unpack a lot there!
2) What happened to Dina’s parents? What does Sébastien North mean? Inquiring minds want to know.
3) Are Sophie and George going to get together?
4) What happened to Derek to make him the silver wolf?
5) What’s the backstory on the Departed?
I’m fine with waiting, but please give us resolution someday <3
Moderator R says
Hi Jessica,
As specified in the blog post, this is about the *next* book, not which books get written at all ☺️.
I hope this helps.
Lex Keating says
Aaaaah!
I want them all. But that’s not fair. Good books, like fine wine, take time.
Nancy says
I love that Julie’s story has a hefty lead.
Denise says
Would love anything y’all put forward but most excited about the top 3 choices.
Andrea Corso says
All of the above – but especially Maud 2 – Sweep of the Blade is my favorite book.
Oli says
Mine too ????
Oli says
Wohooo Maud is climbing up ????♀️
Kelsey says
I voted InnKeeper but would be happy with all of the above!
Heather says
I really needed to have ranked voting here… I needed more votes.
Heather says
In order of preference:
Maud #2
Blood Heir #2
Tie: Arabella #1 and Innkeeper #5
Blood and Iron #2
Kinsmen #4
That said… I’d buy anything you wrote!
Oli says
+1
JB says
I voted for Julie #2 because I would love to see her reunion with Kate but I would be happy with anything you write.
Ela says
This is really hard because naturally I want to read them all…please be assured that whichever you choose as your priority is definitely a great choice and I will surely buy it!
That being said…my heart says either Julie #2 (because I want to see Derek and Julie sort their shit out and take down Moloch) or Hugh #2 (because I think we need to catch up a bit on Hugh and Elara – their book #2 is set before KD #10, right?).
Once Arabella takes over the HL series, it’s gonna be such a change in comparison to Nevada and Catalina and I can’t wait to see where her story will lead her.
And Innkeeper series (Sean+Dina) are always such comfort books for me, I can read them anytime! And Maud’s book was a treat as well, although I considered the ending a sufficient HEA for her.
Ahh, decisions, decisions! Please take care and thank you for delivering such fantastic books to us. At the moment I am rereading Kate Daniels series and it’s like coming home!
Nifty says
The main draw in another Maud book for me would be Helen. (I would of course be happy to see “Marland” again, but Helen was so engaging! So little! So fierce!)
M.G. says
Truth be told it is a pleasure to read any of your stories. My only consolation is that I will start at the beginning of each again for each new release. Love all the characters both of you have created. So whatever you finish I will be happy to read.
Tina says
I am dying to know what happened to the parents of Dina and Maud. Also, I’m literally dying of cancer so could you maybe release their story within the next year and a half? I own all your Kindle books AND accompanying Audible books- I’m a huge fan! The Edge and The Innkeeper books are my favorite. I love how they wax philosophical and paint worlds vivid with life.
Arlenys says
I’m so sorry to hear that, what a terrible disease! Have you tried the name of the wind? Or the green bone saga? Kushiel’s dart, the Dresden files? Or the iron druid chronicles? They are pretty good series and could keep you distract while waiting for more Ilona Andrews’ books, hope you get better????
Arlenys says
Question, wasn’t Hugh story supposed to be already written? And hasn’t been published because it was to grim and to world was from enough right now?
Hugh’s second book, IRON COVENANT #2, has been delayed because it’s grim and right now the world is grim enough. But you can read the beginning here: Weak Sauce.
I understood it was already written
Moderator R says
No, Hugh’s story is not already written ????. As the quote you shared states, the book was postponed, because writing darkness in trying times was too much.
Arlenys says
Thanks Mor R ????
Micaela says
I was split between Maud #2 and Arabella. But I want all the options!
Tough question.
Simone says
A little bit of Maude in my life, a little bit of Dina by my side
A little bit of Kate is all I need, a little bit of Arabella is what I see
A little bit of Kinsmen in the stars, a little bit of Hugh all night long
A little bit of Julie there you are, a little bit of you makes Derrick your man
Sung, of course, to the tune of Mambo No 5 by Lou Bega

Nifty says
For me it’s a toss-up between Hugh #2 and Julie #2.
Marie says
I voted for “something not listed”: I would love a book (several ideally) about Roman.
But all the options are great. And as long as they all get published, I don’t really care about the order.
Maria M. OToole says
I could get on board with that, too!
Maria M. OToole says
You mean I have to choose ONE? Aw…nuts…
Seriously, I voted for Julie, but I would NOT mind if Hugh or Dina were next.
Debbie says
I hope you write them all!!! I felt like a traitor voting for one over the others. ????
Victoria True says
You asked what we want to read next, my answer… anything you care to write. I’ve written one other I love your books letter (20+ years ago to L. E. Modesitt in case your curious).
Joseph Vogeltanz says
My first pick is Blood Heir. I like the close connection with Kate and Curran, but even if they don’t make an appearance, I still like Julie, both with Derek and also with Roland. Maybe his character can be redeemed somewhat.
My second pick would be Innkeeper #5. I like Dina with Sean and maybe another appearance of the characters from the Edge.
MAria says
Multi choice questions – they always did my head in because every answer is plausible, if you think too long. I did choose something not listed above, then read comments.
Short story for Roman??
😉
Tracey says
All of them!
Francesca Satherley says
You missed one 😉
All of the above!
Love your work!
Christine says
I would be thrilled to read them all. ???? However, if you are ever moved to write (or share) the scene where Arabella jumps from the helicopter and transforms in front of Connor for the first time (from the perspective of those in the helicopter) I would absolutely love to read that! Thanks in advance for considering it!
Emilye says
Ooooh! That would be awesome! The look on Connor’s face would be amazing but to get his thoughts too?!? Bliss
Chris Carroll says
It seems to me that the Hugh storyline hasn’t really jumped very far, so I wouldn’t expect it to jump now. Truthfully, I detested him in the KD series and am only now “forgiving” him enough to put book 1 on my wish list. While I love all your stories, Inkeeper is very high on my all-time favorites (both storylines). As a faithful member of the BDH, I will follow wherever your brilliant storytelling minds lead us.
Jean says
Innkeeper #5 and/or Blood Heir #2 – please!
Ange in Australia says
I voted but it was like trying to choose a favourite child!
Rebecca says
I voted for a new Maud novel, but honestly every single one of the choices sounded just awesome and amazing to me. I am looking forward to reading anything and everything on this list— or anything new you dream up!
LOVE your work, all of it, and while I may have my favorites among these favorite reads, all of them are excellent.
Rebecca says
P.S. You know whatever you slave over and present to us will be snapped up, gobbled up, and then about ten seconds later the BDH will be snarling like a pack of starving hounds awaiting the next delicious morsel you are cooking up— we will never be satisfied, don’t even try it. Save yourselves! 🙂
Dona says
I will love reading whatever you write, but I love Blood Heir and Hidden Legacy.
Jessica says
Innkeeper. I want more wait. I adore living houses. And there are family members that need finding.
I will console myself with your other books if I have to wair.
Jessica says
**I want more inns. I have no idea how that sentence went astray.
Sarah says
I just want to read whatever you all write. I’ve been in a book slump for a while, and I actually already have a book of yours to read (I’m pretty sure I’ve read absolutely everything else at least once). I want you all to be happy and healthy more than any particular preference for reading, especially since I’m not feeling super bookish right now. If something was horrible to write, I wouldn’t want you all to feel like you had to finish working on that in order to please other people. I’d love to see more of established characters, but wouldn’t mind reading something new either. Not very helpful, I know, and not really sure if I got my meaning across properly, at times. Y’all take care!
Angel Mercury says
Where is the option for “All of the above”?
I voted for Hugh #2 because as much as it’s been a heavy couple years I think it’s time we start filling in that KD gap. That said I would still be happy with any of them.
At says
Too bad we can’t choose more than one. As I am rereading Innkeeper series I want books in that series, but I know that as soon as I read Ruby Fever I will want Arabella. As it’s been a while since I visited Kate Daniels world they are lower on my list but if I start to reread them they will become the top priority.
Readers of series live in an alternate dimension where time flows differently. The time between books can make weeks and months feel like eons. The time when reading a book passes in the blink of an eye.
It has been a challenging 2 years for the whole world. Your books are a bright spot for your readers. Though we sometimes put undue pressure on you to publish your next work while totally ignoring the fact that you are regular people with regular lives away from the books you write. Readers think authors are creatures huddled over the computer 24/7 typing away on the next book in a cubby little room with no other life.
Thank you for bringing joy to our lives with your books and blog. I pray to keep you and your family healthy, happy and safe.
aranggirl says
God bless whoever is going to trawl through all these responses. 🙂
I voted for Arabella’s story because I’m really curious about how you’re going to develop her character. I feel like she’s the kind of character that often gets used for comedy or action without their internal life being developed. I’d like to see what y’all have in mind for her, especially her perspective on the rest of the family.
But I will anticipate any of these with bated breath. Hugh’s would be next and Innkeeper of either sort after that since it feels like a while since we visited both (no idea if that’s actually accurate). Julie and kinsmen last since we just got the former and the latter’s coming up.
Elizabeth says
I will read anything you write. You could write a cafeteria menu and I’d read it.
But I am INVESTED in Derek and Julie. God, this was tough though.
Elizabeth Jensen says
Since Ruby Fever caused you a lot of frustration and in that sense was a hard book to write (at least that has been my understanding from the blog posts, even though there has also been a lot of good moments of course) I think you should write whatever appeals to you right now.
A long time ago, one of my friends was rebuilding his house (he and his wife did it themselves) at the same time as they were writing their PhD theses. This was rather stressful and timeconsuming of course. One time when I asked what was next on their to-do lists for the house, he said “I feel like painting green this weekend. Since it is such hard work and we have so many tasks, we have decided to do the task that we feel brings us at least some pleasure.”
I have thought of this quite often during the years.
So I think you should write whatever feels “green” at this moment.
Sivi says
I think the vote results so far seems even stevens.
Seam to back up a comment that someone else put on twitter in that were happy to read anything that you’re happy to put out.
So if you write what makes you guys happy- you’ll have a happy BDH who will probably always twitch like a horde of beasts on a new book, if the prospect of any of the sequel books in an existing series is scented… but will be content to devour said book in hand rather then howl at books still in the bush… to mangle and join a few random sayings and the like.
Sharleen Fuller says
So hard to choose, I’m torn three ways between the two Innkeepers and Iron Covenant.
Ista in Sydney says
I voted, but it was a random pic cos I will joyfully read whatever House Andrews wants to write.
My inner child is greedy but easily distracted.
Do what is best for you
Rowan says
So hard to choose just 1! It is so amazing that you have so many exciting series on the go. Whatever you write next I will buy and love. Do what excites you most!
Mechcat says
I wanted to vote ‘Yes!’. So, really, whatever y’all want to write, but I’m torn between voting for Maud#2 and Julie#2. Or something with Saiman’s brother. The shorter piece with him was really intriguing. In the meantime, I’d love to hear more about Camille’s antics. Cat videos/pictures always make me happy.
After reading about it here, I’m planning to get some chocolate tea to bring to my Russian sister-in-law for the holidays. She remains distressed that my husband refuses to drink any type of tea. Given his love of all things chocolate, this might be a happy solution all around. Plus it exists in decaf! Finally something chocolate without (much) caffeine! (Happycatdance)
Thanks so much!
Jude C says
Partly I went for Iron Covenant as I thought it was nearly ready (delayed as too depressing in the midst of a pandemic), but Maud 2 (with added Klaus) would also be great.
Nathalie Turcotte says
Honestly, just anything you decide is perfect for me!
Jen says
Honestly a tie between Julie and Arabella. I’m shocked that Arabella is trending so low—she’s a riot and I can’t wait to see if she’ll end up with the hot aquakinetic!
Ariana says
+1
SueB., NH says
I had to settle for the one I want the most, because I want all of them! 🙂 Of course. you can only get one finished & published at a time, but I’m actually happily waiting for all of the listed choices, actually for anything you’ve written. I’m very grateful to my friend who first introduced me to your work. Unlike many authors, your work can be re-read multiple times. Your characters are people to care about, your writing is a joy to read, and I can hardly wait for the next book to come out (but really, I can wait!). And if I need an “Ilona Andrews” fix, I just reread one of the ones I have! 🙂
Kathryn says
I said ‘something not listed’ because as wonderful as each of the worlds are (I’d enjoy any of the books listed a LOT) I hope you feel free to explore new things as well. That’s how we got the Edge and Innkeeper to begin with. In fact, I recall a brief snippet of a story you explored that I thought of as “Anti-Twilight”. Fun! I just think about Martha Wells who had so many wonderful series and worlds that I’d have loved to see more of — but then her 90 degree turn with Murderbot is my favorite yet. I’m totally naive about publishing realities. But I’ll follow you on your new experiments too!
Korwyn says
So the way I’m reading this, Innkeeper in general is leading the pack. 🙂 And are you sure you can’t accept gifts of tea or something? I mean lobbying with gifts works with the political class….just sayin’ ????
Rachel says
Whatever you want to write I will be thrilled to read! Love all your worlds!
Kellie Roesler says
I didn’t vote because I want the all.
Daisy says
Anything YOU are excited to write! I love all the series, I really do!
Sol says
Well, I want them all and a Roman novel too))) And I’ll be happy with any. But since you asked, I voted.
sari azrak says
Cruel and unusual punishment. Making me choose between ALL of my favorite books in the whole world is like choosing between Cinnamon buns or cheesecake. Mean. Just write all of them. Fast. Faster. LOVE you guys stay healthy
Amanda says
I wish on the poll I could have chosen multiple items but I enjoy reading pretty much everything you have written. Innkeepers was the first series i read and will always remain the favorite though so I hope for another one.
phatler says
Something not listed – Roman!!! please – love him.
Trudy says
Whichever character is talking to Ilona & Gordon the strongest now would be my choice. I look forward to audiobooks of any and all of these options. They are all My Preciouses and highly anticipated and coveted.
RoseM says
I do want the rest of Hugh’s story.
That being said: the Innkeeper series is my favorite, both Dina, Maud, Sean, etc
I think I have read and /or listened to these at least three through completely.
So, Thank You for that.
Danette says
If truth be told, I will be happy with whatever you choose to do. I have liked all your books for years, and have read them all more than once. I have even enjoyed reading the things you have called “garbage”. I have always wondered about the rest of the story in “A Small Blue Key”.
Jan says
I voted but like others I needed a ALL category. I would like to have them all. Whenever you can. Your family and health comes first. Thank you ????
Michele Streeter says
It is hard to vote for just one of my favorites. I honestly love every series, just some more than others. Kate Daniels is probably my favorite, but I agree it is time to let her be a minor character and explore other characters in her world like Julie or Kate’s son.
I really do love the innkeeper series. It has everything I’m looking for as a sci-fi, fantasy, and romance reader.
Hidden Legacy is my third favorite.
I really like the Kinsman seties, as well.
I really liked the short story with the pig and pearls. I was serious hoping you would expound on that story and give me more. I am disappointed that there has never been more added to that story.
I am glad there are authors like you two out there who, “get me.” You guys feed my true paranormal geek side. Keep it coming as I devour everything you put out and eagerly anticipate more.
Martha says
I’d like you to write what you want to. What will energise you and refresh you, whilst providing challenge and engagement.
Whatever you choose to write will sell, you write so well and the BDH are very loyal (and very addicted).
Keyla says
I would love to read or rather hear am Elara and Hugh 2 with Steve West!!
Lynda Manning-Schwartz says
Choosing is so hard.
Naturally, the BDH will love whatever you choose to write, but my curiosity about Sebastian North, Klaus, and the The Wedding are uppermost. (Will Dina and Sean get to go to Maud and Lord Arland’s wedding or will a wolf be barred? Will there be a reception at the Inn to include the Wolves, Merchants, Horde, and of course, Caldenia and Orro? What will enliven The Wedding? An Invasion? Another sighting of the beasts chasing Helen? Something else?)
Next wished for are Julie and Hugh, with Kinsman (still important) last but not least.
Kerri says
All of them 🙂
#nopressure
Annette says
I voted, but would be delighted by any of these. Write whichever is the most fun.
Tantris Hernandez says
I love that you are willing to consider our input. I would like to make it clear, as many have here, that I am excited to read ALL of these books whenever you write and publish them…especially the Kinsmen books even though that wasn’t my vote for next. But I ADORE the Kinsmen universe and I would be sad if they didn’t get released.
Melanie says
I will take anything you write!! Just keep it coming… but I do love the innkeeper chronicles including Maud’s line. It’s more PG 13 so I can read them with my teen kids (mostly) and I love that.
Audrey L. says
As much as I want ALL of these, I was so pumped about the idea of a Roman-centric story. I know the idea y’all had was just something short and sweet (Holiday novella if I remember correctly), but I really would love anything that puts him up as frontman.
kelly says
I would like to know Lark “Sophie ” Mar’s story please….so i vote other…
Leah says
Any Innkeeper or Hidden Legacy. Please.
Those were the first two House Andrews series I read.
Enjoyed Blood Heir. (whispers… haven’t read the Kate series Yet) Very un-BDH behavior. My TBR pile is very big.
Ariana says
Arabella, hands down. I just spent the last 2 weeks re-reading everything Hidden Legacy. While I’m excited for Ruby Fever, my brain is churning over where Arabella’S story will take us. The little short stories and how she pulls on her magic in human form, and her ability to know when she is being probed by a mental mage, it’s an amazing vista of possibilities and I can’t wait for the journey that will let us explore them! But obviously, I have to wait… ???? ???? ????
Heather says
So happy to get any new books from you! I voted for Hidden Legacy #7, only because I saw Arabella was low on votes. My true dream priority:
Blood Heir #2 (Julie #2)
Hidden Legacy #7 (Arabella #1)
Iron Covenant #2 (Hugh #2)
Can’t wait to find out what’s next!❤️
L D says
Blood heir
Felicia says
Are we allowed to vote more than once as in:
First vote: Maud
Second vote: Arabella
and so on?

All is my vote.
Dawn says
All of the above should have been an option. Just saying…
Spence says
I also want to place a vote for bringing back Alphas. I KNOW HA said nope to it but they also just asked…..
Pille Joevee says
Hi there! Actually I like just the order You put books down, but I would read anything you give us!
Thank you for your work and imagination!
nedibes says
I’m chiming in late (as usual) to say that I voted for one thing, but will gladly read whatever you want to write. If be thrilled with anything on this list, or to see a brand new story if you were inclined to write one! (I’d also love to see your retranslation of the Russian adaptation of the Wizard of Oz!)
clara brotherton says
Whatever you feel like, or all of the above.
Farzana says
I will enjoy any story you write and am a fan of all of your series. Thank you for taking the BDH into consideration. We all love you and appreciate the joy you bring into our lives.
Sara Joy says
Fun to vote, but really, I enjoy all of what you share with us!! Wishing you all a lovely week.
We were given a tornado warning in the Seattle area today, which feels wildly unusual!
Wishing the entire BDH a really life-giving next few weeks.
Megan says
Why does this feel like choosing between desserts? I want them all and I want them as soon as possible. But! Like a good BDH member…. I will get what I get and I won’t pitch a fit. But I will obcessively re-read.
SuperJD says
I want to read whatever you feel like writing. If you’re having fun, chances are I’m having fun.
Stacey Johnson says
Ohhhh Derek POV!!!
Gayathri says
Personally, it’s so difficult to decide, I love Maud!!! But I am also really curious to know who Arabella will end up with. And of course, what is going on with Elara and Julie?? I would have just voted for all if I could!!
Nifty says
I’m listening to Magic Rises. That’s the one where they go to Europe to bodyguard Dessandra and ensure a safe delivery of her babies, and they run into Hugh.
About a third of the way in, Kate kills her first lamassu. Doolittle is talking about perception. He draws a picture of a dove soaring above a crushed birdcage. He asks everyone present to speculate on the symbolism of the drawing. Here’s what Derek says:
“Leaving what is safe so you can be more. The cage is what the bird knows; the sky is all the things he still wants to do, even if it’s a risk.”
Given the events of Blood Heir (which takes place a solid 12 years after the events of this book?), that statement seems like serious foreshadowing.
I voted for Hugh #2, but now I want Julie (and Derek) #2!!
Elaine Morton says
????????it didn’t let me vote for both Innkeeper books and the Hidden Legacy. Cruelty! But your muse will cast the deciding vote.
Emilye says
I voted for Maud#2 because I want to meet Klaus and you left us on a cliffhanger there????. But the truth is…all of the above; whenever they come. We just love you guys, sniff
Elizabeth says
So torn between:
Blood Heir #2 (Julie #2)
Hidden Legacy #7 (Arabella #1)
Innkeeper-Blade #2 (Maud #2)
I want them all. Julie takes me back to the world of Kate Daniels, Arabella has been a fav forever and I’ve wanted her book since the beginning, and I just finished Innkeeper chronicles and Maud and Helen stole my heart. As Much as I love Dina I loved Maud even more. I need them all.
Katie says
I shall ever hope for a Roman book.
Susan says
Wish this had been a weighted poll, because it only allowed me to choose one. Although I had a slight favourite, I’d be happy with about 5 of the options and didn’t have a way to tell you that.
You and your books are truly a gift in my life.
Matthew Dickinson says
There was a snippet recently (-ish?) for a project for which it mentioned wasn’t associated with an existing storyline. It seemed to be a space opera but not in the Kinsmen Universe. I thought I’d seen it since Blood Heir was finished. It sounded really interesting but now I can’t find it. I’d like to see more of that one way or the other.
Moderator R says
Hey Matthew,
All the recent space opera snippets have been part of Fated Blades ????, tagged as “mystery” before the announcement for FB was made.
I hope one of these helps:

Honestly I love all the books. Just finished the edge series. They were dark- Kate Daniel’s killing off favorite characters dark but very very good. Now I have to reread the inn chronicles for a different point of view on Georgie & Sophie.
Skippy says
Oh my goodness! Choices, choices. It’s like being asked to pick your favorite child.
Tania says
I would like all of them, but I NEED more Hugh! It’s been so long since the first. I need answers, I need the banter and I need that sexy body! Sorry, getting carried away here but this is what happens when you turn the villain into a fantasy good/bad boy, with superbly written dialogue and scenes (all scenes ????)
????Hugh Hugh Hugh???? ????
laura says
I will gleefully read anything you publish in any order you publish it.
Mjm says
I think Hugh #1 is one of my favorites. I also think a male narrator is perfect. I find listening to the Kate Daniels narrators inflection choices difficult. She diminished Kate.
I hope you don’t regret Hugh and are able to write more. I also understand if you “just can’t” go there. When a writer stops enjoying the creation the books reflect that. I wish you joy ????
Leslie says
Dang, I guess the poll ended last night. It’s a tough choice, they’re all so good! I vote for Blood Heir, followed by Iron Covenant, Innkeeper and Innkeeper-Blade. I can’t wait for whichever story you decide on!
Ian Birchenough says
Innkeeper……. It’s been so long
Moderator R says
There was an Innkeeper in January of this year ????
Pollyanna Hopson says
Gosh! How can I choose? I’ll be happy with whatever you choose,. But I would like to read GGerard’s story ( Innkeeper)
AR says
Please finish Catalina and Allesandro’s story next!! And then on to Arabella’s story!
Nancy and Greg Moore says
I would like the 2 Innkeeper books. Maud #2 and then Dina & Sean #5. Like everyone else anything new is good so of course we will take what you give us. LOL
CKG says
Can I switch my vote from Dina and Sean to Maud and Arland? I knew I wanted Innskeeper and then I re-read the last one, and I, too want to know about Klaus and Sebastian North and much, much more Maud, Arland, and Helen!
AngryHedgehog says
Please… I have to know who Caesar is! I’m going nuts thinking it must be Linus Duncan. And Arabella would absolutely DIE if she knew Nevada and Catalina got a trilogy each but she didn’t. You don’t want the Beast of Cologne mad at you, do ya?
