Hey guys, we have some old busted windows, and we scheduled a window install next week, but they had an opening and showed up today.
The house is a bit of a war zone right now, with all the furniture moved, so we will be posting the next installment of the innkeeper tonight, after the install is complete.
PS. We are so sorry we are behind on emails. We are trying to meet the deadline for the novella’s publication and will get to you questions as soon as we can.

Early install, I cannot even imagine. Mine were supposed to be done by October 15 . I had to move everything away from the windows. Still waiting. I’m hoping for a February date. Weather permitting. I live by the river and the wind is ferocious. Blew snow right inside the closed windows and covered my plants. The windows are the size of huge doors and needed to be hand made. So it was delay after delay. In the meantime I’ve been living in chaos. An early install would have been a “blessed be” event.
On the plus side, I get to weed stuff as if I were moving.

Life happens, we had the BT (broardband) engineer here till 1pm, then he turned up again at 1.30pm wanting to check the line again. We are now racing around as we help at the local food bank at 3.30pm. I dont know where the day has gone!
I will enjoy the next installment when it does arrive though ????

Well, you have a big advantage over our window replacement a little over two years ago… Your part of the country doesn’t get nearly as cold as ours… We had a moderately windy day and it was about 40 degrees out. =) I hope it goes well and easily!

Uuh, sure, where do you want to start and how much work space do you need? (Looking around to see how much clutter needs to be shoveled out of the way. ) Oh well, believe me clutter is the least of what teams see. I remember a couple places I delivered food to that I wouldn’t actually step foot into without a full hazmat suit on and that was just what I could see from the door.

I love your work so much that delays don’t bother me. They just heighten my anticipation. If there’s one thing I could ask, though, it would be whether the release schedule could be updated. There are no upcoming dates, and 2019 is so last year!

It would take a few hours to get all the dust cleaned up after replacing three windows in my house. Even though the installers taped plastic sheets from floor to ceiling to wall, dust got through. It’s a good thing I was warned to tape the closet doors and place plastic sheets over the beds. But, the Heart of Texas isn’t as dusty as far West Texas is.
I am still confused as to why readers would email authors.. if you have questions about a series or character, couldn’t you go onto a Facebook group or fan forum or Goodreads?

I have never visited either one, so I cannot say if this is a good thing or not. I can say that I seldom miss “social media”. As best I can tell, it is a lovely way to waste time – and I have other things I prefer to waste it on.
I have never bothered anyone but a personal acquaintance with an email either, but I grew up in a more formal time. Your personal interactions will always be “easier” than mine.
I am not saying that social media are bad (is bad?). Enjoy your social media interactions, but remember that everyone is not as focused on them.
Okay, now you’re just being mean. I’ve pre-ordered Sweep With Me and am valiantly waiting for the release to read it all at once. But I get 3 notices every time you post a section. From your webpage, your FB account and from FB fan group.

Glad you can get your new windows today. At least it’s not raining, snowing, or large gusts of wind happening. Also, the temperatures are decent (DFW will be in the 50s today) for all the caulking and putting in weatherstripping around the windows.

No worries. I’ve decided to wait for the full book before I dive in. It’s on pre-order–let’s see if I can wait that long….. I just re-read Innkeeper 1-4 so that SHOULD hold me! Every time I read the Christmas Story send up with Orro, I laugh. I absolutely love that scene. Thank you!
I admire your willpower. Personally, I refresh about 25 times a day when we are waiting for a new Innkeeper. I started listening to the Hidden Legacy series again a couple of weeks ago on audio and will probably start Kate Daniels again after that. Books by House Andrews are infinitely readable!
No worries! How great that the windows are getting fixed sooner rather than later. You will love looking out that brand-new glass, trust me (until the beasts decorate it with their nose-prints).

Still waiting (a month) for dishwasher repair after their first “fix”. Then another wait until they get the correct part and schedule an install because they “only come out your way once a week.” Run with that early appontment! I’m celebrating for you!
I’m so happy for you with the new windows! It is delightful to hear about contractors arriving early or on time. Contractor delay has become a way of life for us since Hurricane Michael, 15 months ago. You have motivated me to start looking again for a contractor to replace my own broken windows! It would be nice to have glass instead of plywood.????
I can’t tell you how much your writing has meant to me. You have given me a great escape, first from the deaths, ten days apart, of my two 17 year old dogs, and later from the stress of dealing with the hurricane and its aftermath. I am grateful to you both.
Oh Kimmelane, I’m across the state and wondering why we don’t get ANY news/updates on how ya’ll are doing. I saw that the state scraped up some money to cover the expenses the small towns and counties incurred just dealing with overtime and cleanup. Hope your county got some.
Thanks for your thoughts. We are getting some funding but it is a drop in the bucket. I think the nation has confused Panama City with the much more famous Panama City Beach, which is terrible because Panama City was critically damaged and Panama City Beach barely got any at all. We fared much better than Mexico Beach, though. There’s hardly anything at all left of Mexico Beach. I’ve lived in Florida all of my life and never seen anything like this.
It took them 5 months to install our replacement bedroom window! You are so lucky they are here early!

Wow! An early install. Good luck with the windows, but that’s an excellent start. Years ago some friends had an older house with windows facing a spectacular view of the north Atlantic . The wall of old windows had, as the Mainers say, ‘wicked’ drafts. Our friends splurged on brand-new, name brand, super insulated, super expensive windows. It took months of delays and excuses to get the windows installed. The first Nor’easter after the installation, the windows leaked so badly the walls around the windows were soaked, the water dripped off the windows and made puddles on the floor. More delays but eventually the install company came back repaired, reinstalled. Great. Fantastic. Right up until the next off the ocean storm left a good portion of its rain indoors.. Couldn’t get the install company or window company to do anything. They had the house wrapped in plastic over the outside windows, walls etc. It took over a year and lawyers to get the manufacturer to come with its install company and new windows to repair, replace etc. Looked good. First storm the interior remained dry, but the draft would put out a candle. They sold the house and moved south. Years later we all can laugh about it.

It’s okay. I just spent my Christmas B&N gift cards on buying Nook editions of Hidden Legacy and Innkeeper books. Will probably be buying Kate Daniel’s too as I can’t find all of my paperback copies. I was stocking up in preparation of my upcoming double knee replacement surgery, but I couldn’t hold off rereading Hidden Legacy. Lol
