Fall Tree

Blog, Fun 59 Comments | POST A COMMENT October 9, 2026 by Ilona

BDH: Ilona, what is this?

Ilona: What?

BDH: This thing over here.

Picture of a red faux maple with fall themed Christmas decorations

Ilona: That’s a fall tree.

BDH: Do what now?

Ilona: Okay, you know how we put up Christmas trees? That’s a fall tree. You put it up, decorate it, and then fall happens.

BDH: It’s plastic! You hate plastic. You hate fake plants!

Ilona: We live in central Texas. The leaves aren’t going to turn until February. I want fall now. Look, it has cute acorns.

Close up of decorations featuring an acorn

BDH: Have you lost your whole bag of marbles?

Ilona: It’s been six months of heat and drought and more heat. I put the tree up and the high today is only 89 degrees. That’s barely 32 in Celsius. Mmmm, fall.

BDH: “For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest…”

Ilona: It’s plastic! There was no cutteth. And it make me happy. Look at this cute little fox.

Cute ornament of a little red fox sitting on a pumpkin

BDH: But…

Ilona: FALL TREE. MAKES ME HAPPY.

Another close up of the tree

BDH: Couldn’t you have gotten less fake looking one…

Ilona:

A realistic faux maple

BDH: Why didn’t you use that one?

Ilona: Fakeness is the point.

BDH: Wait, what is that behind the tree?

Ilona: This?

Blue faux flowers in a big vase in a niche in the wall.

BDH: … Are those fake flowers?

Ilona: That’s Instagram flowers. I bought them as props for taking picture with This Kingdom for promotional purposes. Grace Draven was coming over and I had to clean up the house so it didn’t look like a pig sty, so I stuck them in there. It was better than having them piled in the corner…

Close up of the blue faux flowers.

BDH: … She has got to work less or we’re going to need an intervention.

Steve: I think it’s pretty…

BDH: Shut it! Don’t encourage her.

Ilona: Hehehehehe. Fall tree.

    It is 😍 pretty!
I live in NJ and I have real turning leaves, that already carpet parts of the yard.
But I too like pretty things that are seasonal and have lights. Can you perhaps share the link for the fall joy tree?

      Faux lighted tree: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F5WRBM8C?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

      Decorations with the fox: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GSZ5KK1Q?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

So this particular tree has very thin branches, and tiny ornaments work best. The more realistic one is sturdier but doesn’t have lights.

I appreciate the fall tree. I live in Arizona and it is still 100 degrees here. I taught 1st grade and we go over the 4 seasons and when we came back from winter break the trees had finally lost their leaves and my first graders were so excited for it to be “Fall”…in January…so we had fall that week and then it was winter for the next 2 weeks and then we had spring for 3 weeks and then it is back to Summer again.
Anywho the acorns and fox is super cute without being cheesy.

Love the fall tree! Waiting on the cooler weather, so I might have to put up my own tree. I like the fact that it is thin, does it keep the cats out of it, or has it caused problems?

This is Halloween month in our house – and I have lots of plastic decorations displayed because they make me happy!

I think my small collection of glass acorn decorations were acquired while missing Fall when we lived in Houston. It’s the little things!

Hmm… Like the idea of the tree, but 32C is your authumn? I have started to get the fucksia’s inside and the greenhouse will soon stop as well because we start having frost in the night, and the deer are really getting close to the house now.

Would really not know what to like more, but that little fox IS cute. Would it be allowable in a Christmas tree?

Is it weird that I don’t think it’s weird? 🤷 It makes you happy. It harms none. End of.

Oddly enough this sorta kinda if you look through a squint sideways looks like an Easter tree. Which is a literal translation and probably makes no sense if you’re not from my neck of the European woods. Except this one is Fall. So, you know. Works for me 😊

Hope you all have a nice breather!

Is the word ‘Fall’ a noun or a verb?

    Reply
    • Breann says

      October 9, 2026 at 11:16 am

It could be either, depending on the context used.

      Verb: I fall a lot.
Noun: The season is fall now.

And just to make it even more confusing, it can also be an adjective: They want to buy fall decorations. (decorations is the noun, fall describes it)

Hope that helps! Apologies if my brain isn’t working and I forgot anything in there or made a mistake. 🤗

Actually, the noun sentence should have been: Fall is my favorite season.

That one might make more sense and be easier to understand.

….. do I need to send you emotional support autumn videos of my pretty trees up here a couple hours north of Seattle? I’m sending them to my mother about once a week right now.

Your tree is cute and if it makes you happy, enjoy. My mother used to get so desperate for cold weather (Houston) and fall that she would threaten to burn incense and sacrifice a lizard just so she wouldn’t have to wear shorts for Christmas. (That’s a joke, she would never hurt a lizard).

The second fall tree is great! I do like the ornaments on the first one tho. My red oak did turn red last year. At the end of January. Since I was still mowing the grass in Dec, that’s normal.

And I buy “silk” flowers too, despite the friends who think they’re tacky. I like them and that’s all that counts. I love love love my not real poinsettias at Xmas. They don’t require water and they don’t drop leaves!

Im with you, Ilona, WE NEED FALL THINGS! It’s 95° in Southern Arizona today, which is unusually warm for this late in the year – thanks, Super El Niño!

I’ll take it, tho, as I spent most of my life in Chicago’s polar vortex winters, blustery Spring and Fall and blazing summers so humid you needed a scuba tank for oxygen to survive.

I hope your fall tree brings you joy and a sense of coolness! And I LOVE the fox ornament, I’ll have to look into one for myself.

California leaves go from free. To sickly limp yellow to crunchy brown in about a week. No oranges, reds or pumpkin spice inspiration

In my defense, I buy fake plants because I have a great niece and nephew who are under 3, and I don’t have space to put real plants behind gates, so it’ll be a few years before it’s safe to put real plants in the house. Plus, do you know how hard you have to work to kill fake plants?

I’m liking the idea of the fall tree. I need to see if they have a tabletop version.

I mean. . . the mad weather we’ve had this year in the UK has messed up the autumn colours around my part of London so I can commiserate.
It’s freaking October and I want to see those proper autumnal hues and those madly beautiful rainbow leaves you suddenly spot on the floor and can’t believe are real. But alas I do not. The sycamores especially are sadly lacking this year and they are normally my favourites.
I guess putting up a plastic tree could cover the loss if it had adorable ornaments. As long as no one burns it on Guy Fawkes (but then again that’s just the UK anyway).

I miss big bonfires on Guy Fawkes Night! Been in Canada for over 40 years and still not I to the Halloween hoopla here, but I do love the Fall Colours.

We are still having 20 degree temps in October, so the colours aren’t as bright this year, but it’s a trade off.

I’m not into seasonal decorating much, but love the idea of a Fall Tree with cute decorations. 😁

My mom used to have a branch that I set in plaster in a pot for her (not the whole tree) in our front window. She decorated it for every holiday or season, or just because.

Silk flowers in the spring, silk foliage in the summer, snow flakes in the winter. She didn’t do fall because . . . Halloween (plastic pumpkins, skeletons and spiders), 4th of July (flags),Valentines Day (so, so many hearts) Christmas (add ornaments to the snowflakes). Or just beads when she felt like glitter. There was always something hanging off that branch.

I totally applaud your tree. And thanks for the fond memory.

Beautiful beautiful Fall tree! I just realized I need to switch my summer wall hanging to the Fall colored one. It is the only part of my home I actually decorate. My 1960’s built home has an odd spot in the living room with a big air intake register on the floor and a closet wall on one side. I stuck a footed cedar chest over it and that’s where the holiday decorating goes. I wonder if they make a little version of your tree! Thank-you for sharing! The blue flowers are pretty too!
