Today we are bringing you beautiful BLOOD HEIR art by Sophia. I highly reccomend clicking on the individual images to enlarge them because sometimes the detail doesn’t come through in a smaller image.
Heart Ripper
Sophia says: Derek ripping out the sphinx’s heart and being a badass. Drawing this was fun.
Derek and Julie
Sophia says: This was the first fanart I posted. More so than the others, this one is to be seen in a symbolic way and I tried to capture the magic and sense of belonging.
Derek and Julie in a Flower Field
Sophia says: This is somewhat related to the art above. I played with the meaning of certain flowers and the background to show their changing relationship and the crossroads of past and present.
Dananu
Sophia says: This was also really fun. Composition wise I tried to convey Julie’s key role in the prophecy and how it all comes down to her in the end.
Moloch
Sophia says: I tried capturing Moloch’s overwhelming presence and making him all sparkly was a joy.

Can I get a listing of the the people? Is that Kate or Erra? Since they look alike, I guess it doesn’t matter but she perfectly captured what I imagine Kate to look like. Thank you, Sophia!!
Moderator R says
In the Dananu image, Erra is looking to the right and Kate to left on the top row. Then comes Derrek in the middle and Julie/Aurelia in the forefront.
I hope this helps :).
Mary Beth says
Excellent! Thank you.

Oh no. Now I want to reread Blood Heir again. If I do that I’ll turn into the Pepe Silvia meme trying to pin down what’s going on with Derek’s magic and who knows Julie is Julie.

It’s a pity you couldn’t use the Moloch picture in the book. That is almost exactly how I pictured that particular scene.
This is some really beautiful work.

Lovely art. It’s so nice to see how your words translate into beautiful art.
Derek and Julie in the field of flowers are my favorite. I didn’t realize he now get this large.
Great job Sophia.
Moderator R says
Please remember these are (gorgeous!) fan art, with artistic interpretation.
Even in the case of commissioned art (such as covers), I would still advise you go to the text for official description ????.
Gailk says
I have a question, who is the cat with the blue eyes in the family photo! Under Curran . Is it Conlan?
Thank you.
Sophia says
Yes, it’s little Conlan!????
Heather says
OMG… that means the other figure across from Conlan is Ascanio! Squeeeee!!!!

Those are all stunning pieces! My absolute favourite has to be the black and white one. It just looks so romantic, magical and ethereal at the same time. Like a captured moment in time of a fairy tale. As a huge Derek/Julie shipper my heart is full and content after being so well fed. Going straight to follow her on her socials <3

Did y’all see the Kate Daniels book three fan art?

The details kill me.

In Dananu, is the animal below Derek looking to the right Derek as a wolf orAsconio as a hyena? If Derek wasn’t already in the picture, I’d assume it was him. Also, based on the other art, it seems a bit small to be Derek who is more or less Curran sized. Amazing art. Thank you so much for sharing.
Moderator R says
It’s another wolf that represents Derek’s pack :).
Ms. Kim says
Thank-you so much for sharing this with us.

Ooh! I love the attention detail! In the Moloch one, it’s showing her blood armor ripped/crumbling in the place that Blood Heir said from fighting the bull. What amazing work and focus!

I read one of your missives where you asked for a lake shore recommendation. Northern Minnesota (bred, born and raised) has lots of beautiful lakes with property for sale on most of them. Minnesota law says lakes are owned my the state but access is guaranteed by the state.. is: people cannot buy an entire lake. Northern Minnesota has some temperatures as high as 100+F (around July 4) and as low as -30F with winds that get to tornado speed. When you are dealing with below freezing temperatures you add 1 negative degree for every mph of wind speed which makes Minnesota very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. Minnesota has more than 10,000 named lakes, and lots of unnamed lakes because they are to small to have a name. In the summer the lakes get as warm as a bathtub near shore and colder as you go away from shore. Deeper is colder. They are beautiful and blue, and clear. Summers rain is plentiful, and really warm when temps get above 75 or 80. During summer, temperatures don’t go down much at night. Spring is late, although you might find wild violets coming up through the snow. When the first freeze hits coming into fall, the woods become magical with all the colors of leaves changing and dropping, it takes about 6 weeks and is called Indian summer by the locals.. it’s a great time because a lot of the local insects disappear. Fall is chilly but when winter hits it gets COLD. Usually Christmas has snow but January and February are the coldest.. snow (winter rain) happens often just like rain but a bit colder. Actually if its snowing, overcast, with low wind it gets lovely. I lived on property right on one of the unnamed lakes (we called it Rice lake, because we gathered wild rice from it). It was spring fed so was dangerous to walk on in winter… near the springs. We did play on it in winter and had a pram we use when it wasn’t frozen. In the summer, we would hook a flat trailer, picking up kids on the way to Sandy beach swimming area over on Serpent Lake (about 7-8 miles long and 1-2 miles wide) to swim. We would go around the North end of the lake about 3 miles South. Sandy beach was right off the road that went from Brainerd to Aitkin.
I’m sure you or our friend would love to own property on Serpent or many other in Minnesota lakes. Most of Parkside property is owned by people who are not hear round residents.

What a talented artist and fan Sophia is! Love that the focus is mostly on Julie and Derek, however, a superb interpretation of the gang. Loving the detail too.
Salfea says
I love those pictures, too. It think my favourite is the picture of the giant Moloch. Derek seems to howl at him and not backing down however big he is…protecting Julie. At least that’s what it looks like to me.
Now I’m craving the next part of Blood Heir even more.
Vonnie says
I love how her art really conveys the energy of the scene.
Vonnie says
I think you should suggest to Sophie that she start to sell as a side-gig. People would probably love to have some of her pieces for their offices or homes. Pretty much a win-win situation.
Rebekka Vainov says
This is so beautiful I think I might have shed a tear
Kamrin says
Wow. Those are amazing!
Jillian says
Absolutely stunning!! ????
Marie S says
I have already commented on the amazing art and I’m rereading Blood Heir. One thing that has really struck me this time is the impact on Conlan of Julie leaving and then Derek 2 years later. They were such a big part of his everyday life and then no longer being physically there for him. Conlan seems a well adjusted child but he must have gone through a big transition period. Lucky to have Kate and Curran as parents.
