Sometimes you wake up on the wrong side of the bed. That’s me today. I don’t want to work. I just looked at our bank account for motivation, and let me tell you, that cleared that fantasy real fast, heh. I don’t want to clean. I don’t want to cook. I don’t want to put up with renovations.
I am having my 2-year-old moment.
I am also disappointed with my cross stitch project. I’ve started it and I am reasonably sure that the floss colors are seriously off. The girl was supposed to have blonde hair but it’s clearly dark brown, which does not work, since Kid 2 has returned to her natural blonde hair color. I am not sure what to do. Right now I am tempted to scan the pattern in, pull the colors out via photoshop, and then just buy a bunch of DMC to match the scan. But that means I may have to rip a whole bunch of what I did out.
I don’t want to. Ugh.
I haven’t put my yarn up. It’s still in boxes. Ugh.
Ugh.
It doesn’t help that we’re having a heatwave. Our temperatures are hovering around 104 degrees (41 Celsius), and our upstairs AC unit probably sprang a coolant leak. One of the upstairs rooms inexplicably has haze in it. We bought an air purifier and already had AC system serviced (it worked fine before they serviced it but now the upstairs AC is not cooling,) and supposedly everything is clean. We can’t figure out where the haze coming from, so we are just running the purifier until it clears up.
Summer is our inside season. That’s when we put sunscreen on to go to the mailbox. They promised us thunderstorms yesterday. We had thunder. The house shook. No rain though. Bastards.
I need to get to the next scene so I can murder some characters horribly. It will not cheer me up, but at least it will match my current mood. One good thing that happened – I had found a suspicious mole on my back during the vacation, and the moment I came home, the dermatologist determined it needed to come off. It came off and it’s not melanoma. If you have a weird spot, go get it checked out. You will feel better, and melanoma can spread very fast.
We have annual physicals this week, and then we both have the required medical tests, like mammogram for me, etc. I don’t want to go to the physical. I will, but I don’t want to.
I am just bitter and sour today. Ugh.
Tell me something good that happened, so I am not all bitter and mopey.

I made my hubby take our son to his class today, sine I did it all last week and I am coloring my hair since I have the house to myself, well myself and the dogs. I already made my appointment to test for calcium in the heart, since one brother died 2 years ago and my baby brother just had open heart surgery with a triple bypass. Yep no matter that I had to sit on hold for forty minutes it’s better than surgery!
I was feeling grumpy yesterday, but after a few naps and a decent night’s sleep I am feeling much better!
Must go wash this stuff out of my hair now so I can look 10 years younger … ???? Have a great day!

I decided to look at my front garden as delightfully chaotic, rather than crowded with weeds. They have flowers, so they count, right?
I’m happy to hear your spot was not trying to murder you! Too many people ignore skin changes because it’s one little spot, instead of seeing it as a blight on your largest organ.
Soon, the peas will be ready, and then we can feast!

Kid 1, under 8, has anxiety like me. For those who need a 101, think of it as having adrenaline and your flight or fight on a hair trigger. Adrenaline is not meant to be constantly coursing through your body, nor are you meant to be constantly in fight or hide mode.
At any rate, she swims in a summer league. All the stars. She decided to try a new breast stroke race, but then the anxiety brain attacked her hard after the papers were in. Days of upset over a 45 second swim. She doesn’t know how to swim breast stroke. She can’t breathe. She’ll get disqualified.
Like any other piece of your body, you have to learn how to treat the flare ups. I am sadly anxiety ambassador. It all sorts of sucks because different flares have different coping techniques and the wrong ones get me screamed at.
The morning of the swim meet, I picked up a distraught kid from distraught grandparents who were upset because she wouldn’t eat pancakes. Apparently this was a hill all parties were willing to die on.
So we get in the car with her shouting at me about not swimming the race and pancakes and I just say OK. I spend 45 minutes just saying OK. we talk about the anxiety monster that lives in our brains and how we wish we didn’t have it, but so it goes.
We get settled in at the swim competition. All on her own, she finds her calm and gets the anxiety monster back in its corner. Turns out, she has pretty good form on breast stroke. She swam the race and had a proud mama cheering her on. Her grin when got out of the pool told me she knew what she accomplished.

I once gave my kid an old thin clean washcloth and told her to shred it. She was upset about something and it seemed to help. This was a number of decades ago. Your experience brought back such memories.

We baled 255 bales of hay for our horses, more than we will need until next year in spring . Plus finally got two days of good rain that we were beginning to really need here in IN after we got the last of hay in barn. Today I had lunch with 2 young women that I have known for most of their lives but time and life and geography had made it difficult to keep in touch. Tomorrow I am meeting a good friend early in the morning for walk which we both enjoy. Nothing exciting really just things that make me happy …. hay for my horses, lunch with people I care about and time spent with a good friend walking and talking.

I couldn’t figure out where my days were going so I started writing down what I did each day and it turns out I spend a lot of time playing with my kids. Most recently lots of Monopoly. That’s a good thing.

I have been having a bad time lately, too (just got out of the hospital on Saturday), but I seem to be doing better (knock wood) AND the thing that has helped me so much is listening to all the Kate books again on my Kindle.
It really was the only thing that made all those days in the hospital bearable.
I know you wanted something cheerful, and this isn’t exactly that, but I hope it brings you good cheer to hear how very much your work means to your loyal BDH.

I just finished a 12 week powerlifting course. Was so great to concentrate on lifting and I got some really good weights for my final lifts. I’m so proud of myself!!
For the curious, I lifted 110kg in the squat (old pb of 90kg), 122.5kg in the deadlift (pb of 100kg) and 65kg for the bench press (pb of 55kg).

My sister is in town for the week! This is very exciting for me as that she is prepping for Lollapalooza because J-Hope, a member of our favorite band (BTS), is headlining one of the stages on the last night. She is meeting a friend that we discovered at their recent Las Vegas concert. My super big win is designing and making pinback buttons for them to give away!

Some days are like that. Embrace the grump! Throw the tantrum! Grimace at the tradies! Mutter under your breath as you pull out the cross stitch! Kill the characters! Rage at the heat (we know all about the heat in Sydney)! Stay out of the hazy room whilst side-eyeing the a/c unit!
Tomorrow will be a better day.

Well, I’m a little cake obsessed. Over the weekend, I did make a Medovik cake for a Russian colleagues birthday. Took me two days and lots of obsessive behaviour trying to make it perfect. It was really amazing. I’m not sure if I’ll try it again anytime soon. Exhausted!

I’ve been forced to rest for the last week and a half and fighting my brain for being “unproductive “. In the mean time, I’ve watched a ton of shoes and movies that I’ve missed. I usually read during my downtime, so watching stuff falls by the wayside. My to be watched pile is massive. I just finished the first season of Stranger Things

My daughter was born with a club foot at 4 lbs and was more then a month early after 6 months of serious complications that put her viability in question. Today she ate breadsticks, blew raspberries and danced with her older sister to Blues Clues with much enthusiastic butt wiggles. She’s 18 months and still not a problem in sight. Her foot was corrected without issues and she enjoys racing through our house at full speed laughing her head off.

I just got back from AZ after visiting my daughter and my new granddaughter Charlotte Skye. Charli is two years old and is a ball of fire she loves me and recognized me from FaceTime. She wore me out. I’m home after a horrible flight. 4 hour layover in Chicago turned into 5 as we sat in the plane waiting for 2passengers luggage. Home was a 1:35 am landing. I was exhausted and miserable but that afternoon I got a FaceTime call from my daughter and Charlotte who kept asking me to come back. These flights aren’t cheap and this Covid business is making it worse. But my granddaughters smile made up for everything. And best of all no more Baby Shark songs or the wheels on the bus.

A very good lost pupper came into my house yesterday. This is good because she could have easily yanked me off my feet. Having her in the house gave me enough time to read her tag. My hubby took her to her owners. We tried to call, but they were on the phone – panicking about their lost pupper.

I tried to put our kitten into my overall pocket and take a walk. She wasn’t crazy about it but I have a dream to have a cat that likes walks so I am going to keep trying. Next time I need to use treats. She is a 3 month old silvery grey tabby. Her name is Rosie. My husband and daughter brought her home as a surprise and I tried to be mad at first. I hate surprises. Unless they are kittens. I LOVE kittens.

My 93 year old mother has a habit of tucking tissues under her pillow. Tonight I asked her how many she thought she might have under there so she sat up and I lifted the pillow. Three tissues and 1 pair of Depends. Now my mom has intermittent dementia that can range from her being completely normal to her not being able to remember my name. When I told her what was under her pillow, she said she had no idea why she put them there. We looked at each other and both of us started laughing. I’m really not sure what was so funny about it, but it was wonderful to laugh like that with my mom. It was a precious moment for me and one I will remember years from now.

I had some mental breakdown problems last couple of years, because of stuff, and I was my 2 years self for a long time, I stopped making any decisions, because I didn’t believe anything good will happen, or I’m no good for doing anything, therapy didn’t work, but last week I found out by my self what was the real problem and what I can do about it. So now I’m happy to begin to be my normal version and really lucky to have all the people that I love sticking it out for me. So it’s summer and we are good. That is a treasure by itself.

Sorry you’re having such a bad time of things, and hoping it will get better soon. Sending love and happy thoughts your way! My happy thing today is that my wonderful neighbor mowed my front yard for me-it was a lovely thing for him to do on a nice humid Georgia day. And my husband bought me doughnuts for after dinner. He’s definitely a keeper (after 34 years, he better be, lol!)

My family finally got our apartment sprayed for roaches. They were getting everywhere. On beds in our heater closet, and even in the vents. They were supposed to come out on the 7th but rescheduled last minute to today. This time we stayed put until the came to our apartment. And being out all day worked out better this time even with the two daycare kids my mom had today. She runs a daycare out of our apartment. She was able to bring two of the four she normally would have had. Luckily one of the parents doesn’t work so she was able to keep her kids.
