Crash Friday

Blog, Writing POST A COMMENT July 24, 2026 by Ilona

There is usually a post on Friday, but Mod R had some real life stuff, so I was in charge.

I crashed.

Quick recap below. I will make a better post tomorrow, hopefully, with more details.

The edits for This Redacted came in and while our editorial team really liked the book, it needs a little bit of work to push it into can’t-put-it-down territory. We promptly had a minor crisis, and then we brained really, really, really hard for 48 hours and came up with things.

Here is the collection of gifs from the official email we sent to our editor with our proposed changes:

For some reason, despite this high quality presentation, our wonderful editorial team is on board. It was probably the Boom gif Gordon sent.

Now that the road forward has been determined, or at least outlined – we will have one more meeting about it next week – my brain and body went on strike. I kind of landed on the bed, I really wanted to sleep – but Kid 1 and future son-in-law came with the vellum packs they packed and Kid 2 called about a friend, who adopted a puppy from the shelter and the puppy has parvo.

Before people send advice through the email since I am closing the comments, we have done a parvo disinfection before, so we were able to give her the complete list of disinfectants, instructions, and so on. The shelter is taking the puppy back for treatment – they are better equipped – and they now have to disinfect everything as well. She can readopt the puppy once it is out of the woods. The puppy wasn’t in complete crisis, so the prognosis may not be too bleak.

Yeah, so I didn’t get to sleep, I am not sure which way is up, we are eating air fryer chicken for dinner. I will see you hopefully tomorrow morning, with a more reasonable update. Or at least a life post.

Comments are locked to keep the Horde’s favorite workaholic focused on her weekend.

I leave you with this work in progress from our wonderful designer Michael.
