What I am reading.
I am still on the manga/manhwa/manhua kick, and since so many of you asked, I thought I would share some recommendations. I would suggest Tapas and Tappytoon as entry point services. The content on both is carefully curated and you are less likely to encounter themes that might be too jarring for the Western audience. Tapas is my go to. Here are some highlights.
The Villainess is a Marionette.
This probably should not be an entry point into manhwa, because the art is absolutely spectacular. A lot of the other works feature a little less refined style, but I had to include it, because the comic is truly a thing of beauty.

Every single panel is gorgeous.
Like many manhwa comics, this one relies on tropes of transmigration and reincarnation. Transmigration refers to a person’s soul being transferred into another person’s body. Often that person comes from our world and ends up in a fantasy world or a novel they read in the body of one of the characters. Reincarnation trope, in the context of manhwa, usually refers to the character living their life only to come to a terrible end. If they are a villainess in the novel, they may end up getting their just rewards and end up being beheaded. After experiencing their own death, the character then wakes up years prior with a chance to do over their life and advance knowledge of the future.
The world has turned into a video game. Portals have opened all over the place leading to “dungeons,” pocket dimensions filled with monsters. Simultaneously, some people developed magical abilities. These hunters enter the dungeons to plunder the resources and to eliminate the monsters, because unless the dungeon boss is disposed off in a certain time frame, the dungeon will break, releasing the monsters onto the city streets and casualties will be catastrophic.
The hunters are graded based on their abilities. This is the story of a hunter named Sung Jinwoo, Rank E. He is the lowest ranked hunter in the world.

This is also the story of how he becomes the most powerful hunter in the world.
This comic is incredibly addicting. Set some money aside, because you will not want to stop. The art is great and the story is tightly plotted. This should be a textbook on how to write a compelling rise-to-power.

Check this one out. The best thing – there are a ton of episodes already released, so you can read years of work straight through.
What am I watching
Tales from the Tour Bus
Tales from the Tour Bus interviews country stars (1st season) and funk and soul musicians (2nd season) about their time touring with the biggest music stars of the last century.
OMG.
I laughed so hard. The trailer pretty much gives you the idea of what to expect. It is absolutely hilarious. We’re watching it on HULU, because everyone needs a story about Rick James setting drapes on fire in a hotel room once in a while.
There is a dearth of true crime shows right now, because we have watched pretty much everything there is, but we liked a couple of recent movies, Love and Monsters (Rental) and Nezha Reborn (Netflix.)
What I am Playing
You are going to laugh, but I am playing Might and Magic. More specifically, Might and Magic 8 Merge. Some saint has made a mod that binds together Might and Magic 6, 7, and 8 into a single game with improved resolution and a unified story that takes you across all three realms. Gordon and I are playing it.
Yes, Might and Magic 6 came out in 1998 so it is literally as old as Kid 2.
Yes, it is a bit easier on the eyes, but it is still Might and Magic 6.
Yes, we have the remastered Mass Effect to play.
Yes, my factory is halfway done in Satisfactory.
You see, you can now have 5 people and there is apparently a secret dungeon in New Sorpigal, which can be accessed by grabbing a fly scroll from the bank’s wall and flying to the roof of the Buccaneers’ Guild. It will teleport you to the obelisk that permanently increases your stats by 20 and if you click on the opposite wall, it takes you to the secret dungeon modeled after the actual building of New Computing, where you can meet the digital versions of the programmers and kill their real life bosses, who are portrayed as goblins. It has awesome loots and gives you a magic buff that temporarily increases your stats by like 200 or some craziness, so you can teleport back to New Sorpigal and rampage like a wild animal through the entire starting area with your party that has goblins and dark elves in it.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
the statue villains from the first chapters of solo leveling still give me nightmares ????
Yeah, that grin was insane. Love it.
Just so you know, Solo Leveling started as a Lite novel – which has been completely written in Korean. They are currently working on the English translation and it is available for purchase (the first volume is out and the second comes out on June 22nd).
Sounds like you are having fun and enjoying life.
Some of the artistry on those manga are amazing.
Oooooo, talk about nostalgia – they’ve just released the Early Access of Fabled Lands on Steam. Yes, they made that 90s pen-and-paper, Choose Your Own Adventure RPG into a pc game. Best part: the computer does the admin for you 😉
It’s only Early Access so it’s not the complete version yet, but itis eminently playable already as is, and it was such a fun nostalgic head rush to just jump in there 🙂
What can I say, sometimes you want a comfort read, sometimes you want a comfort game 😉 I get it, I totally get it XD
I’m so into the whole isekai villainess theme right now. There are so many manga/mangwa series out there with this theme. I’ve been binge reading them nonstop for the last three weeks!
I get it. Last year I could only watch korean dramas and this year I’ve been binge reading manhwa series too. Found so entertaining I started learning korean. Ending my first semester in two weeks. 🙂
chacun à son goût
I love webcomics but prefer Webtoon as my access point over tapas as you have to pay for less. That said, i will go wherever i need to for some of the comics because they are not only beautiful but well written. As for Might and Magic, that’s awesome! I remember playing it with my dad and brothers when i was younger! I might have to get this version for him if he doesn’t have it yet, because we like the series and the fact that it isn’t never ending like W.O.W or L.O.L
I also use Webtoons. It’s great for those starting out in the web comics world and don’t want to spend money unless they want early access to chapters.
I play order games all the time. I keep trying new Total War Games, but I always come back to Medieval Total War. In terms of true nostalgia, I play Caesar3, there is nothing like building a town and yelling at the screen, because your market ladies cant get enough food and pottery, because they keep going the wrong way. To be fair, I also recently played through Oregon Trail
Rome finds your efforts… mediocre.
I’ve become adddicted to manga too. One of my favorite stories is The Pharaoh’s Concubine (loved the ending of that one) and The Prince’s Romance Gambit. The last one is for a younger audience but it’s so ridiculously cute that it makes me smile and burst out laughing. Don’t even get me started on Ouran Academy. “Damn rich people” ????
I am enjoying the second season as much if not more than the first. Does it get better than stories about Rick James and Prince? Ummm, adult language and drug references abound. Fair warning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxBukMC95Co
I was a bit disappointed in the comics version of ”the villainess is a marionette”, I preferred the novel. The comics version skips over important details (if I remember it well), but the art is gorgeous 🙂
There really are a lot of great comics in tapas and webtoonlive ????
Have fun reading, watching and playing ????
My husband and I have been on a Heroes of Might and Magic 3 binge, for, well, literally years now ???? specifically the modded Horn of the Abyss version. it is about the same age, and our co-op happy place. Just finished our last game last night after the babies got in bed- time to start another!
If you are reading manga you might try One Piece ! Although its not for everyone. Its also long and ongoing (1015 manga chapters)
To me it’s:
-awesome world building
– fantastic story and characters
– makes me happy. (Its not a grimdark series)
– a combination of WoT and discworld. Although about pirates.
My favourite character is the only one that dies in this manga???? I stopped reading not long after ???? and I don’t have the time yet to read it again ????
Traumatized by his death !! ☹️
the current arc is dragging a little… but one piece is a great great recommendation.
I agree with the nostalgia comment. I’ve been playing WoW classic: burning crusade non stop for the past week. So many memories!
The “I will live my life…” graphic in your post reminds of “The Last Unicorn” movie/cartoon voiced by Mia Farrow.
They’re remaking the movie for that, you know. The bad thing is, it’s coming out in 2028, so long ways off. Still can’t wait. The comic book was gorgeous, so I hope they take from that.
Some friends and I are replaying Baldur’s Gate.
Yes!!! Thank you for the tappy toon recs, added to my list!
On a pure romance side, ‘Positively Yours’ and ‘Mr 100% Perfect!’ on Tapas is great too.
I’ve been replaying MYST. I’m up to the last one URU. I need a bigger notebook and better map skills.
I loved Myst and Riven.
My wife and I played Myst when it first came out. Needed each others help for the puzzles. We got the Oculus 2 recently and one of the first games we got was Myst (same version !!). Although the Oculus is “single person”, it can be projected to the TV so while one is playing, the other can chime in with clues.
I replayed most of them a few months ago on Steam. I had to laugh that Riven still had all the same bugs as it did when it came out. Sooo much nostalgia!! I think it was Myst 4 or 5 where you have to move the monkeys around that I always get stuck…
I do enjoy Tapas as well. 🙂
I’m a sucker for A Business Proposal, The Knight and Her Emperor, the Villainess Wants a Divorce, as well as Lights, Camera, Love.
Mass Effect Legendary is worth a play through, but it’s very true to the original. Mako is still annoying yet overpowered, and elevators are largely pointless but sometimes hilarious (and thankfully much shorter); I think I’ll enjoy myself more when I get to ME2.
I’m definitely checking out Tales from the Tour Bus. My latest YouTube find was HISHE. How It Should Have Ended. They do great work, but only put out about one video a month, apparently they have jobs or something and cannot cater to my every whim.
Have you read The Remarried Empress? I’ve been reading it on Webtoons – another one with pretty pretty art in every panel!
Love the recommendations!!! I can’t wait to try them and this new app. Perfect timing as I was looking for things to occupy me when I go to the hospital tomm.
So far I’ve never been steered wrong by a recommendation!
Sending health wishes your way!
Ah Mass Effect Legendary Edition, already on the third game, been nice to have a consistent look and feel throughout, and all the tweaks make it feel like a much better game, though I’ve been so excited playing it again I actually played through the ME2 too fast (never realized that was possible.)
If you are taking suggestions, I would recommend checking out The Remarried Empress @ https://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/the-remarried-empress/list?title_no=2135
oh god I so want talk manga with you know lol. Did you read “one piece” its a great pirate fantasy adventure the art isnt the pretty tipe couse the art and the story complement each other in a tipe absurdism that many call a manga discworld. the humor is great and has very interesting characters plot and magic sistem. If you want a pro book critic and reviewer opnion and dont care about a little spoiler here you can see daniel greene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAKxGE3TkMc or pro book critic and reviewer merphy napier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daMu31FOfqo&list=PLJCqICJZQGWiYFtzLGn60RPtkJYK69ZRU
There is also “full metal alchemist” manga the story and worldbuilding is so good I love the magic sistem and there so many good characters.
Ps you guys should consider getting a discord channel its good for games its good for getting contact with younger audiences and it will give you a chance if you want a chance to see the readers discussing about your books with each other or even other things.
There’s an Ilona Andrews server, but the authors are not part of it.
really I had no idea need go there lol thanks
cant find a invite for an Ilona Andrews discord server can you help me please
Pps I had no idea you guys knew about transmigration and reincarnation tropes or litrpg (The world has turned into a video game). There is this webpage that has a lot of original non professional writers writing some stories called royalroad many authors fineshed stories there and published by amazon and some authors make some money in patreon with advanced chapters and public chapters go into royalroad that is the place I get my reading needs meet while my favorite pro writers are between books. Ppps Im dislexic and english isnt my native lenguage so please forgive any mistakes
have you checked out “the beginning after the end?”
also love villainess manhwas like “death is the only ending for the villainess” and “how to protect the female leads older brother”
‘Death Is The Only Ending For The Villainess’ is sooo good! Also such pretty pretty artwork. I was going to recommend that one as well. I also really like ‘Who Made Me A Princess’ and ‘Villainess Maker’.
Try out ‘From Cradle to Grave’. It’s about musicians and their moms. Pretty good.
Wow we loved Heroes of Might and Magic so much, I think we had 1-6. That along with the Dune games are what we miss the most.
You can find a lot of the older games at gog.com, that’s where I purchased my copies of Might & Magic after the actual game discs got lost in one of my moves.
Oh that first story you mention, The Villainess is a Marionette, looks gorgeous. Kayena Hill illustration has serious Last Unicorn Lady Amalthea vibes – but with more sparkles. I like it!
Have you read the light novel for Solo Leveling?
I live on Tapas and Tappytoon – Villainess for the Tyrant (Tappytoon), Beware the Villainess (Tapas), Villainess Turns the Hourglass (Tappytoon), The Monsterous Duke’s Adopted Daughter (Tapas), Who Made Me a Princess (Tappytoon), Ginger and the Cursed Prince (Tappytoon), The Secret Queen (Tappytoon), Collide (TappyToon), Survival Marriage (TappyToon), I Belong to House Castillo (TappyToon), anything by Maham Fatemi (Tapas), Punderworld (Tapas), World Ruled by Cats (Tapas)…
Like I said I spend a lot of time on those sites. Its honestly been a life saver during the pandemic when I had to let my Korean translating hobby take a backseat to everything else.
I love Punderworld too!
I’m so excited that the first volume is due out!! (And that she can work on Blood Stained again)
Webtoons is my fave. There is a number of drawing styles so I’m not sure if it will scratch your itch, but it’s free 🙂
Here’s some I’m subscribed to:
Cursed Princess Club
Covenant
Like Wind on A Dry Branch
Suitor Armor
Subzero
Midnight Poppland
Blades of Furry
The Remarried Empress
Happy online comic reading!
You play Mass Effect!!
I re-read and re-play things endlessly. This is why I basically only read books by you or 3 other authors. And I only play Guild Wars 2 and Mass Effect.
So knowing that you play Mass Effect creates wonderful symmetry in my little universe. 😛
Oh my goodness I am reading The Villainess is a Marionette too. May I also recommend a few I am reading. Angel or Villainess, Kill the Hero, Adonis, and I shall Master this Family on Tapas. On Tappytoon I am reading: Father, I Don’t Want This Marriage, They Only Remembered Her, A Villainess No More, The Adventures of a Demon King’s Daughter, The Heroine of Drayfox, The Beloved Little Princess, and The Twins New Life. ❤
The artwork is gorgeous! I think some of the people who do the illustrations for the solitaire site I like the best may do artwork for this style of novels. When you go to the index of artists, you can tap on any of their pictures and see a sample portfolio. Some really beautiful work!
Thank you, Ilona Andrews for the post. I think the artwork is fantastic but I am more a words oriented person.
Thanks for computer game recommendations. I still haven’t finished Dungeon Siege II. Probably because I get bored with shoot -um ups. Okay I only play 2 hours on Saturday night. And i lost my logbook when I was in hospital and rehabilitation because Mother tossed all stuff on my desk. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh
I love the Might Magic games (and heroes of M&M), I don’t care how old they are I still enjoy them. I will have to try the version that combines games 6-8, because that sounds awesome! Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll definitely look up Tales from the Tour Bus, that sounds like awesome crazy-sauce.
I’ve been on a building binge, alternating between cities, empires and the occasional forage into my most guilty pleasure, Hanseatic European ship trading. Ahh, pc pleasures ????
I LOVE the villainess is a marionette! I’ve legit gotten too into the isekai trope right now
Oh! I was reminded of Generation’s Queen/The Queen by Tutu. Every single panel is a work of art. Every. Single. One. Highly recommend. Set in ancient China as well.
Also Unholy Blood. The action is very reminiscent of 90’s American comic books.
I don’t know how this classifies in the world of manga reading, but have you checked out Webtoon? Its an addicting little app where creators release episodes on a schedule and then when they finish a season they go on hiatus and kill all your hopes and dreams of seeing a happy ending for the next six to eight months.
I recommend Midnight Poppyland, Unholy Blood, Purple Hyacinth, Your Throne, In the Bleak Midwinter, and Lore Olympus. Also the Red King, however I am so behind on that its not even funny so I can’t guarantee it stays as good as it started.
As far as manga goes, un-webtoon related, Ceres is fabulous, and V.B. Rose owns my dreams(not action packed but fashion related and v warm fuzzies.
Omg, I meant to close that parenthesis.
Thank you so much for this post! I was really into manga about a decade ago, at the time manhwa was hard to come by and manhua was virtually non-existent, at least in my area. Life happened and I fell out of the Asian comics scene but have really wanted some recommendations for jumping back in. Thank you and all the commenters for some great tips!
Have you tried the anime “That time I got reincarnated as a slime”? Also on Hulu they have the show “Forged in Fire”, which I have to say gives me a clue as to what some of the weapons look like when rereading the Kate Daniels series.
I also have a book to recommend: The mayor of Noobtown by Ryan Rimmel. My boyfriend and I have listened to the series on audible and find the dry humor and puns refreshing.
I’m just waiting to see how “Skip Beat” ends. 44 volumes down and there’s finally a hint of progress on the romance front.
I’m not sure if these are still available, but I loved Vampire Game by Judal and MeruPuri by Matsuri Hino. I started Something’s Wrong With US but haven’t kept up with the new releases
Will Skip Beat ever end though? Progress is so slow. I’ve been reading for like 17 or 18 years.
Is that the one where the girl gets shafted by Bjerknes boufriendand decides that she will show that she has what it takes to make it in music
Skip Beat will always be my #1, and I will continue to wait for it—even if it takes another decade????
I just recently got into Tapas, and both of those are on my subscribe list. Taming the Tyrant is also gorgeous! 🙂
I’ve been using the free ink challenges rather than buying, though – a few of them were for solitaire games that I’m enjoying, and there are other games from the list I wouldn’t mind trying out once I’ve trapped these out. It seems like playing games for ink has a better exchange rate than using the shop, though I may be undervaluing my time. :-p
It’s so nice to see that I’m not the only adult with kids that loves reading comics online. None of my friends are interested, so it’s reassuring to see others who enjoy it. Makes me feel a little less like an oddball 🙂
I had to copy and paste the hint on MM6. I keep coming back to it (mm6). I want to beat it so bad, been playing off and on since it came out, I have 6 on GOG and Steam. I did beat MM7, and came close on MM8, maybe close. this will wreck my excursion into ESOs new expansion.
But still, thanks, love these 3 games.
you should read i want to be you for a day/your throne on webtoon! it’s so good
+1
The amount of plotting and scheming is pretty mind-boggling. Even the villain made me swoon~ xD
hmm, I heard so much about solo leveling, both bad and good. Still haven’t try. Somehow I just can’t get into korean manghwa and novel. I just like their dramas.
Ohmygod, my inner otaku side is excited to see those manhwas here. I’ve read the two that were mentioned. I even read the novel version of Solo Levelling (because it’s complete already) and got to the ending of The Villainess is a Marionette. They are fun!^^
I’m reading Omniscience Reader now in webtoons (I think it’s produced from the same studio as Solo Levelling too) and so many other isekai/tramsmigration/reincarnation manhwas from the platforms (webtoons, kakaopage, etc.) in English and Indonesian.
Ooh! I hadn’t heard of The Villainess is a Marionette, but it sounds like the novel version of The Princess Weiyoung (The Concubine’s Daughter is Poisonous is the name of the novel). The novel was intense. Will have to read this, thanks
I love my classics, Akira, Gunmm (battle angel alita in USA), Yu Yu Hakusho, Please save my Earth which has the reincarnation topic… I will try your recommandations, thank you.
Love Yuyu hakusho!
You might want to try Lady Evony or The Soulless Duchess both in Tapas too.
Have you ever read 1/2 Prince? I loved it and have reread it at least 3 times. It also has a light novel version(or whatever Korean novels are called).
I love the colorful pictures in manga. They are so pretty. I am glad you found a great escape. Your books are one of my escapes. On a different note, I would love to email you. I don’t want to be rude and use your help tool. I have questions but I don’t want to ask here due to possible spoilers. I LOVE all your books, especially the Hidden Legacy series. Take care.
Hey Melissa,
If you’re not comfortable asking questions here, you can email me at modr@ilona-andrews.com . I am the Keeper of the Question Lists 🙂
Solo leveling is one of my favorites as well. If you like that one mabey Google ‘infinite mana in the apocalypse’,
I’ve enjoyed what I read so far.
Speaking of old games, I will be installing Oblivion on my laptop this weekend. I’ve been playing Skyrim again and I miss random gates spewing daedra at me
Speaking of nostalgia—the old MMORGP game EverQuest that loved way back when is doing a server that is progressive and started at the beginning of the game. That game got me through a really bad stretch in our family life, and when I saw the new server I had to go back and play it again. A lot of fun. Twenty-two years of gaming and still going.
I really recommend a manhwa called Mercenary Enrollment. It’s about a boy who was in a plane crash at an early age, became a mercenary, & is now trying to adjust to being a normal student in Korea. It can be violent, but a worthwhile read. There is also a male version isekai, that also takes place in modern day Korea, called From the Grave and Back. It’s a bit of a revenge story, not too violent, and the art isn’t spectacular, but I’m enjoying the plot so far.
And, for something completely different, a manga called Mairimashita! Iruma-Kun. Lighthearted & funny, probably more for the younger set, this is better than the anime version. I love to read this & Way of the Househusband when things IRL become too grim.
My best friend in elementary school was from Korea, and they introduced me to the joys of manhwa & anime. I’m in my early 50’s now, & I still read manga/manhwa & watch anime to this day- & raised my son on it!
Omg, Mercenary Enrollment is my all-time favorite???????? The hero is amazing, the art is attractive and the pacing of the story is done really well. Highly recommend because the hero is someone who uses his skills to protect and save people. He doesn’t go out of his way to hurt others or seek revenge because he can/has the abilities to do so. All he wants to do is protect the family he just found again and the people who have become his friends????
I’m not sure if you’re still on the hunt for a C-drama, but I just finished ‘The Sword and The Brocade’ and it was absolutely wonderful! Very well paced, multiple storylines, twists and turns, and some vicious concubines. It repeatedly subverted my expectations again and again, it a good way ????
OMG I love y’all. My husband and I spent so many hours on MM6. I drew out a map of every town by hand, numbered and labeled with which Masters and NPCs were where, because Merchant and Scholar were so necessary to us. And then we found it years later on GOG and made our 8 year olds play it with us on the big screen even though they were terrified of the Abandoned Temple. And now they are teenagers and we’re cleaning out boxes and I found the old binder with the hand-drawn maps and they were so impressed (“You even mapped Free Haven!). Yes. Nostalgia is the best.
The Art work looks very CLAMP or Yu Higuri. I used to read a lot of Manga until my Ickes book couldn’t take it. Still love Anime
Lol! I read Solo Leveling on the Webnovel app. Never knew it had a manwha. Might have to check that out!
Solo Leveling is done off a light novel – I think the title is something like “I alone level up”. Sadly at about chapter 140 (last I checked a couple of years back) the translation turns into gibberish.
They must have done a new translation because it’s good now. I read the entire thing on the webnovel app. By the way, if anyone wants any recommendations, I found Cultivation Chat Group and Stay-At-Home Dad’s Restaurant in Another World were both cute.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see that Villainess novel on there, or I would totally try reading it. I like transmigration stories, but it’s hard to find a good one.
I’m really into So I’m A Spider, So What? right now. They’ve got a really interesting plot with lots of action and mystery.
Solo Leveling is one of my absolute favorites right now. I’m so happy to see others appreciate it as much.
I just started the Villainess Marionette…it’s absolutely gorgeous! I love manga/ manhwa/ manhwa. But it gets so expensive sooo quickly. I try to use the webtoon app as much as possible other wise my cc would be screaming!!
If you would enjoy a manhwa that centers around action and cats I would recommend Eleceed
I loooove solo leveling!! I read through the novel way too fast. ???? I’m looking for something similar. Any recs?
Hello!
I’m not someone that usually replies to post but this time I couldn’t resist.
I tried reading Solo Leveling and I love it, I have some more chapters to read before I’m up to date but it’s definitely addicting.
If you like that kind of plots you may like (if you don’t know it already) Tower of God. I fount it through the anime I became addicted and I now follow the Manhwa .
Since I’m more of a manga reader I don’t know a lot of more Manhwa to recomend but if you like reading manga you may find “kimetsu no yaiba” and “yakusoku no neverland” to your liking, I found them very original and riveting and both are finished which is a plus for me 🙂
I discovered both throught the anime and ended reading the manga to find out what happened after the anime ended.
These are some top quality manhwa/webtoon recommendations! I love TVM b/c of the art quality and the heroine—she’s so badass and cool! Solo Leveling also has great art and it’s even better that the hero is so OP (and is super hot????????????). There’s the WEBTOON app that people can also check out that has some great stuff too:
– Your Throne (fantasy, historical, psychological, romance?) is a very non-stereotypical transmigration read. Characters are more than they appear and the character development of the two heroines is on point????????
– Like Wind on a Dry Branch (fantasy, historical, romance)
– Men of the Harem (historical, romance)
– See You in My 19th Life (contemporary, fantasy and romance) is my all time favorite cause the heroine is exceptional????????
– The Boxer (sports, psychological, dark)
– Your Smile is a Trap (contemporary, youth/teen, romance)
– The Remarried Empress (fantasy, historical, romance) is one that’s both satisfying and frustrating because of certain characters????
– Get Schooled (action and psychological) is for those who find it satisfying when bullies get a taste of their own medicine, but tenfold????????
There’s way more on WEBTOON, but these are some of the ones I’ve read and really liked!
There’s also one that’s not on any of the apps that I’ve been reading and has the most beautiful illustrations (maybe even more so than TVM). It’s called The Way to Protect the Female Lead’s Older Brother. This one can be pretty dark, especially because almost everyone in the FMC’s family are cruel killers. Roxanne is amazing and so beautiful????
I have to give a plug because I live for reincatnation manga/manhwa. Yes, there are 45 of them (that’s not an exaggeration btw, I counted) and they more or less all have the same plot. No, I could not care less:
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom (available for English publication at B&N, also an anime on Crunchyroll)
So I’m a Spider, So What? (available for English publication at B&N, also an anime on Crunchyroll)
I Swear I Won’t Bother You again! (available for English publication at B&N)
I’m a Villainess, so I’ll take the last Boss! (available for English publication at B&N this fall)
The Abandoned Empress (Available on Tappytoon: warning, it starts in a pretty dark place)
The Younger Male Lead Fell For Me Before The Destruction (Available on Tappytoon)
Beware Of The Villainess! (Available on Tapas)
Death Is The Only Ending For The Villainess (Available on Tapas)
I could go on forever and ever, but a bunch I read are only on aggregator sites right now for english audiences
Oh! I almost forgot!
For those who, like our authorlady and myself who love tea, I have a lovely Manwha which is the aforementioned genre of reincarnation in another world with memories of a past life:
50 Tea recipes from the Duchess (here is the link):
https://bato.to/series/81319
On top of being a lovely story, it really does explain teas!
Yes! I love that manhwas and solo levelling got a mention ???? the breadth of your reading selection is seriously impressive
Solo Leveling is awesome! I keep hoping at some point they will animate it, but the artistry of the manhwa will be tough to match.
Other goodies…
Erma
Princess in the Rough
The Monstrous Duke’s Adopted Daughter
A Capable Maid
Ghostblade
Child of the Sheath
OMG! I love reading manga/manhwa/manhua! Never thought these two worlds would collide and was very exited to see this post. Would highly recommend Your throne and Lore Olympus on the Webtoon app. As for manga/anime my all time favourite is Death Note (Please don’t watch the Netflix live action adaptation though! it’s a crime, they changed both the characters and plot).
