The Dushegub Tote Giveaway has concluded. Thank you all for your comments and so much reminiscing on all the cracktastic and emotional scenes we love in Ilona Andrews books.
Because of the overwhelming response, House Andrews have decided to pick two winners instead of one. The lucky people are:
International Winner: Maggie Berney
Anything to do with Helen and her knives but also because I’m a sucker for romance the moment of realisation of “In all the time I’d owned Gertrude Hunt, there’d been only one person besides me who could hold Beast on his lap.”
US Winner: Laura Dzuray
My kids happened to be in the car when I was listening to the most recent Innkeeper and we all still will randomly shout out “It’s his wife! Bring all the doughnuts!” Then we promptly all give in to a fit of the giggles. Are there better lines, absolutely. However this line will always be my favorite now because of my kids’ giggles.
Congratulations! I will be contacting both winners for tote personalisation and shipping details from modr@ilona-andrews.com.
Now for the reason we are ALL lucky.
Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels 7) dramatized Graphic Audio adaptation will be released in 3 short weeks, on October 15th. And we get exclusive samples ahead of time because we are what? Beloved!
Z’emir-amit, The Branch Bearer, The Shield of Assyria. The Great Queen Semiramis appears:
(aka Kate gets gifts from grandma)
And Derek better get growing those flowing locks because he’s the closest thing they have to a virgin:
Happy listening!
PS: Magic Bleeds, Kate Daniels 4 (traditional audiobook narrated by Renee Raudman) is part of the Audible US Harvest Sale from today until the 27th of September. If you don’t own it yet, now is the time!

Congratulations to the winners! I love that you have a shared memory with your kids. In 20 years you might remember what started the phrase, but regardless, it’ll be a shared joke amongst you and no one you explain it to will get it, which will make it all the funnier.
Hyna says
🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations!!
I remember reading the doughnuts comment, it was great 😁😁
Jan F says
Congrats to you both and it is fun to have a family phrase. Our’s is “Push the button Max” from the Great Race. My siblings and I have been using it for decades as shorthand for change the topic. Your kids will use bring all the donuts for instant laughs. Delightful!
And the recordings are terrific. Just waiting for my pre-orders to be delivered. Graphic Audio is awesome and now they will be giving us more to enjoy.
What a great Monday
Tempest says
Fellow “MAX, push the button!” member here.
Jean says
+1 🤣
Linda says
We also say “Push the button, Max”!
Mary Matthesen says
You know what most people get from their grandmothers? A quilt. 🤣🤣🤣
njb says
Hehe. No quilts but tons of gorgeous crocheted doilies. I’ve framed one set for the walls. I’m pretty sure there are no swords in the family.
Christina says
Congratulations Maggie and Laura!
Thank you for the snippets Mod R and House Andrews!
They made my day brighter!
njb says
Nice all around! I love the story of the kid giggles especially. Priceless!
Patricia Schlorke says
Congratulations to the winners! 🎉🥳
I listened to both scenes. Too bad we couldn’t get the Landon Nez scene where Kate swung Sarrat in the car, and Landon couldn’t get out of the car fast enough.
Also, too bad the scene with fighting the tarasques (I think I spelled them correctly) ended with Kate sensing the two vampires. I would have loved to hear Cuddles with the one who tried to take her reigns. Go Cuddles! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Carrie B says
Maybe we should have someone draw a headshot of an unimpressed Cuddles that the BDH can use as one of its mascots. 🙂 🙂
Lacey Pfeffer says
Congratulations!
Anna L says
oooo i might have to delay my 12 hour drive so i can have this to listen to. I love all of Graphic Audio but I think Andrea and Hugh are some of my favorite voices so I really hope that Gunmetal Magic gets adapted

congratulations to all the winners,

I love when people have inside jokes like that.
Ours is me saying ”no, I don’t feel like dressing up, and your tux is still at the dry cleaners”, or something along those lines, when I don’t want to eat at a casual or fast food place my partner suggests.
It began because of a truly terrible adult nephew he has, and nephew’s equally awful wife, dressing up to go to Applebees for lunch in their very nicest clothes; the nephew went on and on about taking her out someplace extra nice—he was dead serious.
So, when partner asks me where I want to eat I usually say, “Applebees, but we’re not dressed formally”…the variations are endless.
The best part is we loathe Applebees, and would never eat there.
Kate says
Thanks. Also this reminds me of something I’ve occasionally wondered. Is Semiramis still in Mishmar or did they return her bones to the Tigris? Was it in one of the books somewhere and I just missed it?
Moderator R says
It hasn’t been discussed in the books per se, but at the end of Magic Triumphs Erra plans to get her mother’s bones from Mishmar, so presumably that happened sometimes in between MT and New Shinar 🙂
jewelwing says
Good to hear! That has been a little concern of mine as well.
Congratulations to the winners! Time spent with kids in the car is not wasted.
Judy Schultheis says
There was a tomb ready made when they found the one Erra had slept in and she roused the sleepers who had survived. I always thought that was where they interred her bones.
Kimberly Hart says
Wait, did I miss something? When did this happen?
Was it “on screen”, for lack of a better term?
Mod R, help me understand 🙏
Moderator R says
No, this did not happen on page. I believe Judy is speculating on what might have happened.
Kate says
The “She’s his grandmother too.” and “The boy would need to meet his grandmother at some point.” comments made me wonder. Seems like wherever she ends up, she will still be visitable.
Bea says
Congratulations 🎉 winners!
I live for kids giggles! I think that is priceless!
I cannot wait for Magic Breaks, honestly can’t wait for any of them🤣
Just love all their donuts! …I mean books! Great writing!

Great comments/quotes, great examples!
Can‘t wait for the upcomming GA releases
Hope all are feeling well, counting for all of the BDH, mods, writers, and families
Tamara says
Just came here to say that I absolutely LOVE the voice actor for Kate in the Graphic Audio edition , I wish I could have all of the books recorded in her voice as of yesterday, especially Magic Tides and Claims.
She is the perfect embodiment of how I imagine Kate’s voice would be. I have listened to the Kate and Hugh courtyard fight over 10 times, it is SO good!
That is all. 🙂
Moderator R says
Nora Achrati is amazing! She’s also the director and in charge of the script adaptation and I 100% agree, she *is* Kate for me!
djr says
I loved the donuts quote, and I can’t wait for the spouse to finish listening to the GA version so we can both laugh at it. Since he has retired, he no longer has time to listen (weird, I know). Our favorite yell out loud phrases come from a Scottish elevator skit from Burnsitdown Comedy. We are given to yelling “Eleven!” “Scotland!” and “Freedom!” at odd moments. You can google it if you like 🙂 . So grateful to ModR and HA for the snippets!

I love that other people’s kids are into Innkeeper. My 8yo got her grandmother to custom make an Innkeeper robe for Halloween last year.
Love Innkeeper Series! says
I am really sorry I didn’t submit, not because of the tote bag so much as because my favorite line of all—of so many!— is “So, just birds, then?”
