I’m duty-bound to say: don’t read this first. Arabella is my favourite, I know we all want her books, but it lands much better after Augustine and Dian…oh, you’re already midway through it. Sigh. At least I tried.

  7. I’m so happy Arabella is finally assembling her squad. You have the person who can hide her appearance/change her face so she looks different before she goes beast mode, and then one of the few people who also grow big and hit things who has anger issues too.
    I now have odd head cannon of them being called into the office and the principal saying “Why is it always you three.”

  8. I was able to get Beast Business with the front cover from Barnes and Noble. For those of the Horde who don’t want to buy from Amazon, and you have a Nook, it’s there. I think B&N wants the Horde to work for this novella and all the POVs and short stories. However, you will find it!

    Now, I’m off to read the new deliciousness that is Beast Business and Arabella’s POV. Whistling sea shanties are optional. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😉

      • What’s weird is that if I close the ebook, the cover briefly flashes, but when looking at it in the library view, it doesn’t have the cover. I think it was also there when I went to the cover page but didn’t close the book. So it’s just the thumbnail image that is missing.

    • First time commenting just to say that the direct buy option is SO fabulous, as someone who is trying to break out of walled big tech gardens. I popped into the store and picked up the whole Innkeeper series as well. Please keep this option for anything you’re able to distribute this way!

    • So did I. I’ve not had any problems when using Book Funnel across multiple authors, and plan/hope to do all my HA book buying this way rather than lining Amazon’s pockets.

  13. I think I snagged a book before the announcement came up and it has been a very very unproductive work day for me so far 🐵 so I guess I’ll stay longer today, but it was so worth it. LOVED LOVED Loved returning to the world of Hidden Legacy and getting glimpses of all the beloved characters. I know a series with Arabella as MC is not in the planning right now, but one can certainly dream about it (a lot 😇). Thaaaank you for the wonderful and lively surprise, it was truly amazing!

  25. This was sooooo good! I already loved Augustine but to get to read his thoughts… amazing.

    Please tell me there will be a sequel? You simply cannot leave it like that!

    I could kick myself, with all the other open story lines (Hugh 2, Julie 2, Wilmington years, Inheritence 2, Innkeeper finale, Arland and Maud, Sanctuary 2) it simply did not cross my mind that this could not finish Augustine’s and Dianas story but I should have known! A Novella is too short for it to be completed. And now I have to wait for propably 5 years or so to know how their story ends because all the other stories come first. If there even will be a sequel. Why did I not prepare my heart??? I have no one but myself to blame *sob*

    • Just finishing re reading Blood Heir (got the Arcane Society Edition) and I was JUST thinking/wailing that there is no date in sight for Julie 2!!!!!!

  33. I searched for Beast Business last night on Amazon, just in case, and saw the book there with no image. I double checked that it wasn’t some hoax or fake story that would sucker me in, then I bought it and was so so so happy to delve into Augustine & Diana’s storyline.
    I am happy to report that the cover image is fixed and properly drool-worthy whenever I pull it up on my Kindle.
    So yeah, the story is fantastic as expected and always leaves me wanting more!
    I love Panthercakes!!!!
    You guys make me laugh and brighten up all my days.

    • I’d be thrilled with one book about both. Perhaps Arabella might spend some time deciding which Michael should be her escort/date to which wedding?
      Baylor-Sagredo, Montgomery-Harrison. Bear of Kamchatka? Ghoul of Record Keeper? Door number three? A former employee of a company she had to bother for payment who’s dancing along the line between smitten and stalker? So many Michael’s. So little time!

  34. This novella made me really like Diana – I was unsure about her because Cornelius had so little support from his family when White Hot happened, but she is now a proper character with good insight into her, and I approve! Panthercakes sails!

    So glad to see Arabella, too. *pitches a tent* The Baylors are such an interesting family. *sets up a box* It’s like ointment for our darkened souls to see the Baylors build up their support network and find new friendships. *takes out a giant banner*.     I love Diana so much! I knew i loved Augustine but I was unprepared for how much I would love her. She really cares for the ones she loves so much and is so fiercly protective. She would do anything for them.

    And her reaction to seeing Augustine’s real face was everything, it was so beautiful.

        I all honesty, it is just that they are such fantastic authors. Lately I was so often dissapointed by books I picked up but House Andrews NEVER dissapoints. Sure, I love some stories more than others but all are excellent and so much above everything else that is out there. That is why I am so eager for every story that comes out because I am sure I will love them!

  88. Read it as soon as it dropped and it jumped right into my top 5 House Andrews books. I love that the characters are a bit older, and the way they kept breaking down barriers. Totally Team Panthercakes.

    But the cliffhanger may kill me! Diana walked away so angry. And I can’t blame her. Animal mages already have a hard time interacting with humans. To bare your heart and then find out you have been misled is a hard pill to swallow. Bad form, Pancakes.

    Couldn’t sleep worrying about the ending, lol. Kept saying: this is House Andrews, for goodness sake. Of course there will be a HEA. That almost worked. 😜

      • This is during the Ruby Fever timeline. The Baylors have their compound, “That’s why the Baylors can’t be involved in this matter. Matilda spends most of her time at the Baylor compound. In the two months since they bought that estate, Matilda made friends with every mouse and bird on their property. She spies on the Baylors constantly. Nothing happens in that house that my niece doesn’t know about.” CHPT 1 of this book. And Ruby Fever chpt 1 starts 6 months after they purchased the place. I hope Augustine doesn’t wait until Post Ruby Fever to pursue Diana.

    i’m a proud, long-time member of the bdh so it’s not a surprise that i loved it. halfway in, though, i had to pause and marvel at how good house andrews is at making characters so distinct and so unique. it’s amazing.

    • That suit is mid: Price is saying the suit doesn’t look great on Augustine.

      It’s giving beta: It’s giving him “beta” (nebbish-y, not peak masculine) vibes (as opposed to “alpha” or physically strong and powerful).

      I’m secure in my rizz [charisma]: Augustine is unperturbed by the roasting and knows he is attractive and personable- and is demonstrating that he speaks teenager.

I am definitely curious if Matilda went thru a primary bond in the same way, since Cornelius was trying to distance himself from his parents, and if so, what animal. After all, Matilda’s mother wasn’t an animal mage, so there was no guarantee that she would follow in her father’s footsteps.

  160. Due to recent eye surgery, I was able to read only small bites of “Beast Business” for two days and it was challenging. My poor eye began to burn if I read anything for more than 2-3 minutes. I had to wait for hours before I could try again. It was so worth it. I’m feeling better today: I could read for 5-8 minutes every hour or so. Pacing myself through it was very motivating. The long excerpt from Maggie was something I read prior to the surgery. I believe that book will be deeply rewarding as well. Many, many thanks to HA for their talent and skill.

    I know he went through a terrible ordeal after his family was attacked. But…

    He should have told Diana that rescue was expected.

    And he should have remembered he was supposed to be keeping Arabella safe, and not have her privately rescue him in what could have been a dangerous combat situation.

    • One is from back in the day when it was an Audible exclusive in October.

      In January, the exclusivity period ended and the file got sent to all the audio retailers. Unfortunately, the Audible system picked it up as a second release and we have a ticket with them to sort it out, but they are slow at it. Will chase up on Monday 🙂

I do so enjoy them!

  180. Beast Business is an excellent story! Thank you for sharing it with us! I love the characters, the plot is a wonderful ride, and the story and world reveals are incredibly satisfying!

    SPOILERS BELOW!

    I disagree with the time line in the post above for two reasons. I believe Beast Business must be after the Ruby Fever epilogue. First, and most compelling, when Arabella tells Tia about Catalina and Victoria, she references events that only occurred near the end of Ruby Fevor. Second, Matilda could not have been bonded to Kitty during Ruby Fevor, or Kitty would have been with Matilda during that story. It makes much more sense for this story to come shortly after Ruby Fevor ends.

    Also, to the BDH members calling this a cliffhanger … um, no. A cliffhanger would be stopping the story before Arabella bursts through the wall, not knowing if our protagonists live or die. Unresolved character tension feels compelling, but it is far less than the “screaming at the page fury” a real cliffhanger would inspire.

    • The beginning of Beast Business has Matilda making friends with every small critter on the Baylor Estate in the 2 months since they bought the Estate. So… This is 4 months before the main body of Ruby Fever.

      I could seen Diana forcing Matilda to keep Kitty at House Harrison until they (he? she?) has finished nursing and grown up enough to be trained to protect Matilda. And we know now that Matilda is very good at keeping secrets. And so is Arabella.

      And since Bern and Runa’s wedding is where we see Augustine sitting at the Harrison table, we hope he and Diana have come to an understanding by then. And that’s a couple of months after the big fight. So… Augustine has about a half year to get it together and woo the lady.

      Now about Catalina outmaneuvering Victoria… that does seem a little off. Maybe there’s more there that we haven’t seen, related to Warden business maybe? Maybe Arabella’s in on the operation to shut Victoria down when Catalina pulls the ripcord? Maybe… *shrugs* I don’t know.

I had no idea how much I’d love Diana’s point of view and how fantastic Augustine’s reaction to her rocking his world would be. there has to be more to their story that we get. . . sorry but being part of the horde means I have to immediately demand more the second content has been consumed. Arabella is amazing, it’s been so fun reading her from others perspectives and then the snippets of her perspective have been massively revealing. can’t wait for the time when her story can be shared. thank you!

But I just binged this book & it distracted me from real life! No sad emotions were felt for the duration of this book.

    House Andrews smashed it as always!! Love returning to this world so much. Also big big fan of Arabella. I love that she feels like an underdog in the family but it only motivates her to try harder. So real.

I am beyond pleased for your good fortune with Maggie’s tale, but one could regret the loss of serial stories that turn into magnificent books with beloved characters.   218. Augustine and Diana. I hadn’t foreseen that pairing but I like it. Augie needs a good partner by his side. He’s carrying too much on his shoulders all alone from the glimpses we’ve seen of his life through the Baylors’ eyes.

    Love seeing more of Diana, too. I’m getting the impression that the last generation of Harrisons were a couple of twat waffles. The first born and youngest turned out all right. Haven’t seen enough of the middle one to know him, yet.
