The dramatized adaptation of “Magic Strikes: Kate Daniels 3” was released an entire year ago. Tempus is as fugit as ever, because it does not seem that long since I first had the full cast Midnight Games experience and was blown away!
In my humble experience as the Mod who has been reading all your comments for the past 3 and a half years, Magic Strikes is the most popular and beloved KD book. Or at least the one that convinced most people that Kate was their ride or die.
Graphic Audio wanted to help the BDH celebrate by creating a 70% discount, in case there is anyone still on the fence about trying the dramatized version and wants to start with the installment that changed everything.

A very close second is “Sweep of the Heart”! Love love love the GA version of all of IA books. I listen to them frequently if I’m stressed out or just need a break. They are casted brilliantly. I look forward to more releases soon 😍
Okay I listened to Magic Strikes graphic audio, purchased it, and now I am being held hostage from actually hearing it unless I sign up for a subscription service. This is misleading and upsetting as I am not interested in the subscription service. So there goes $9.00 for an audiobook I cannot even access! What the heck

I didn’t like this either. I signed up for the subscription service, got Magic Strikes, got Burn for Me for free, and immediately cancelled the service. You do not need to be subscribed to listen to the books. The books remain accessible (but you do need to sign in).
If anyone is still on the fence, then this well worth it! I’m totally sold on the GA experience and would have agreed about this being the best book, but… Magic Rises is just sooo good!

Totally agree! I couldn’t get into traditional audiobooks, but I LOOOOOOOOVE the GA books! Especially for when I’m doing something that I can’t (or at least shouldn’t) read while doing.

Graphic Audio really brings the banter to life. I listen when I’m exercising or doing laundry.

I liked “Bites” and I liked “Burns” a lot more, but “Strikes” was when Kate became THAT series for me— the one you read over and over and love it every time.
I will say, House Andrews has more than one series that I love like that.
The Hidden Legacy books are as dear to me as the Kate books and that is really saying something. I love The Edge and Kinsmen and Innkeeper, too.
I’ve never read anything from House Andrews that I wasn’t ready to buy the instant it was available.
But, yeah, Mod R is right— Magic Strikes made this series my ride or die!
P.S. Whoever told Ilona that they never “finished anything” (as a criticism) needs to sit down and be quiet. I would be super happy to keep reading books in these worlds forever— or as long as the authors felt they had stories to tell. The idea that they are milking a series to get money is ridiculous. Number one, they wouldn’t cheat their fans that way, and number two they have GIVEN AWAY free fiction that they knew they could sell.
Some people are only happy when they are complaining, but trying to cause my series to end early is just asking for a visit from the BDH.
Not completely on topic, but is that a Seven Brides for Seven Brothers reference with “beautiful hide, I’m just as good as lost”? If not, I have to stop the mental soundtrack that started up when I read that.

I LOVE Graphic Audio productions!!! They have done so well with the KD series. When I got to the last one in the series I couldn’t listen to any of the other “plain” audio books so I am finishing the series on my Kindle. At least reading I can hear the characters in my head as they are on the GA versions.

The Graphic Audio website also has a sale from the regular price, however Audiobooks.com is where the anniversary reduction is applied in full. Both are owned by the same parent company.
I was a fan of KD from the first book or I wouldn’t have continued in the series. I had a (very loose) policy of giving any new, recommended series three books before I gave up. I didn’t need to give Kate more than one book before I was hooked.
I DID start with the EDGE series though, so I guess I was prepped for the intensity of the KD series. (My poor little Innkeeper heart was beating very fast!)

Book 3 feels like such a ramping up of the series. Can you shed any light on how Kate was originally sold? 1 book deal, 2 book deal, etc? When did they make the decision to go for such a long series?
