Today’s Q&A will be more general questions with the usual spoiler session at the end- so it’s safe to attend even if you haven’t finished reading the book!

Hello mod R, I had some questions after rereading the whole series recently, and I had them answered in Ruby Fever except for one: why didn’t Augustine take part in the final showdown of the conspiracy (Wildfire)? He was involved already, and very invested!
He was otherwise occupied?
For future plans, can we hope in short stories for House Montgomery? I’m also veeery curious about what happened between him and Lenora, and I’m adrift since years on a little raft called JorMery (any other MonDan castaways out there? Do we have a bigger ship already?)

Vampires? I’m forcing myself to wait to read it until I finish something that needs done, but I don’t remember any vampires in the previous HL books. Am I mis-remembering, are they new, or is Amazon just a bit cuckoo? ????

Respectfully request that consideration be given to an Arabella trilogy, if possible (and I completely understand if it isn’t – a book an author isn’t interested in is often not a good book).

Then you will get an email confirmation at the address you used to register with a join link.
On the day you can log into Zoom and the link in your email will take you to the meeting. You will be able to see and hear House Andrews, but you don’t need a camera or a microphone, they will not see and hear you back.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “autocorrect booboos”. There is a panther character, Bagheera, and a python, Kaa, in the Jungle Book. Leon brings the most money because he is an experienced PI who grew up in the business and who has professional contacts established in Houston. No matter how hard working, Alessandro is new at being a private investigator and not a local.
There are many years until Matilda will have to officially test her power, no one knows what her choices will be. Cornelius was motivated by childhood trauma and wish to escape his House
to downplay his abilities, let’s hope it won’t be Matilda’s context.
Thank you so much for answering my questions. I skipped the book and movie versions from the Jungle Book, so I was totally confused. Subtext is not one of my strengths. I don’t know why I don’t know why I didn’t consider his abilities as a experienced detective. That was just stupid. I’m on my second read and picking up more details. That’s one reason I consider HA to one of the best authors out there. There are so many levels to their writing that I keep reading them again and again.

So just for the record, the wooden thingys sticking out” mention in the Nerd Daily article do actually have a non-vampire function. Traditionally nets were laid over the protruding beam ends (wooden thingys) and fruit/nuts were dried in the sun on the nets. Where I am in the Med, it’s stone not wood but I imagine it’s the same principle

Just out of curiosity (sorry if this is already somewhere on the site), does HA do bookplate stickers outside of buying a book through the chosen bookstore? I always preorder the books through Amazon as soon as the link is available, and then forget I’ve done so until they release. Another author I read (I don’t remember who) will send a bookplate out if you send a SASE (self-addressed, stamped, envelope) to them. If they don’t, no biggie. I was just wondering. 🙂

My question: Both Nevada and Arabella have a mental aspect (truth seeking and siren abilities) and their combat aspect from their mothers side (Nevada’s targeting with firearms and Arabella’s targeting with a blade)
Because Catalina’s ability is more combative does she have a mental aspect as well? If you can tell us y/n idc if you say what it is. I don’t need a spoiler.

I think you’re confusing the sisters and how powers work a little bit. I’ll try to explain.
Nevada and *Catalina* are both mental mage Primes. Catalina is the siren. They are also duals, which means they have a second talent, of lesser level than their Prime one. This is sometimes possible for Primes, and it will *always* be a talent of a different branch of magic than their main one. The three branches are mental, will-based and arcane.
Arabella does not have a mental power. Having a mental power does not mean you automatically get a “combat aspect” to balance it.
Arabella is a Matamorphosis mage. She can change into her Beast of Cologne form and use the attributes of the beast separately in human form. The Metamorphosis talent does not allow another talent to manifest, they cannot be Dual mages. People think of them as “one trick ponies”, and as all other magic users, they are happy for everyone to continue believing that. The use of the different “strings” of the talent in human form is not widely known.
Thanks for the response! I mixed up Arabella and Catalina when reading Nevada’s books and the switch always stuck with me. So I always end up calling one the other.
