Hi BDH, Mod R again!
A while ago, Ilona wrote a Just Life blog post about making fajitas because Grace Draven was coming to dinner. Many were the fans who wished they could be a fly on the wall at that get-together and spy on everything that was being discussed hehe.
Say no more!
Ashland Library in MA is hosting an event inspired by that fan desire a week from today: Tuesday, July 26th, at 7 pm ET – a summery tête-à-tête with Grace Draven and House Andrews
In case you are not familiar with the amazing Grace Draven:
Official Bio
Grace Draven is a Louisiana native living in Texas with her husband, kids and a big, doofus dog. She has loved storytelling since forever and is a fan of the fictional bad boy. She is the winner of the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice for Best Fantasy Romance of 2014 and 2016, and a USA Today Bestselling author.
You know who Ilona and Gordon are if you’re reading this. But if you want to read more about them, I always love their Road to Publication story.
It will mostly be a relaxed chat moderated by the lovely Meena Jain from Ashland, but please comment below if you have any questions for either of the authors (or email me directly at modr@ilona-andrews.com if you don’t want to ask publicly).
The chat is set to last around 90 minutes and a recording will be made available on the Ashland YouTube Channel afterwards (like with the Jeaniene Frost chat hosted earlier in May).
Registration
Ashland Library asks you to please register for the event, as spaces are limited. Here is a website that lets you figure out Eastern Time as it relates to your time zone.
Signed Books
Blue Willow Bookstore, an independent brick and mortar, is the partner for these events.
If you would like a signed book by one of the authors, you can order them through the bookstore event page. Personalization is not possible unfortunately, as the bookplates are sent ahead of time, but here is everyone’s chance to get a signed copy of Ruby Fever for their collection! And support an independent bookstore in the process, which is a win-win. Of course, if your order includes books not yet released, it will only ship after these are published. If you have any questions or want to enquire about international delivery, please contact Cathy directly at cathy@bluewillowbookshop.com
See you there!
By the way, watch this space for many more live events this summer and fall, including a Q&A session for Ruby Fever during release week, moderated by yours truly. See, we listen when you say you want to see more of House Andrews!
Patricia Schlorke says
Have fun everyone! Stay cool and hydrated.
Sophia says
Oooo, a visit with my fave authors! Looking forward to checking out the youtube afterwards!
(I will not be registering as I don’t have specific questions & figure lots of others have loads.)
Thank you to all the authors for giving us their time.
Moderator R says
Oh no, you don’t need to have questions, you can just register to watch live and chat with others!
Although having been to a few of these by now, I can tell there will be questions coming up as you listen hehe.
Emily says
Plus the very best part imo (spoilers) don’t tend to make it in the recording.
Liv W says
WHOA! Awesomefultabulouso!
SoCoMom says
Yes!!! Thanks for the heads up!
Alyssa says
Ohhhh. Sounds fascinating!! I’m looking forward to it.
Kate says
Drat! Too many evening meetings in my life (note to self: volunteer a little less or give up personal time altogether). I will look forward to the recording after.
Andrea Smith says
Yay! I so enjoy Q&A’s and seeing all of House Andrew’s animals.
I look forward to seeing what head gear mod R will be wearing during upcoming Ruby Fever Q&A. Lol! I really enjoyed how lively the last one was.
Vianne Higgins says
Can’t wait!
Leigh Ann Parente says
I just wanna get in line for the Ruby Fever Q&A right now. I’ll bring my knitting. I’ve no problem waiting.
Ms. Kim says
I love the Grace Draven stories. My mind is abuzz but I will have to wait until the event to think of specific questions.
I Gordon Curran? That’s why I like the Kate Daniels series the best of all, because of Curran. When he walked into Barrabas’s house with the Guild’s manual and Kates nice soft boots it showed so many facets to him. Plotting a takeover but thinking about the comfort of Kate and being so in-tune with her.

Ooh so excited for this! I found Grace thru this blog and have been nail biting for the 3rd fallen empire book to come out it’s killing me….????
Ques for GD- can you ask her if she’s planning on ever doing self publishing of any of current series or new series? I try to stay current on her work but her blog isn’t updated and I’m not on any social media like twitter to get news if there’s any? Thanks!
Question for HA- I’m an avid reader I’m already at book 175 for this year-audio and print. I love reading so much that while I read I do an auto correct feature in my head of parts that fit better here or there in the story and also grammatical issues. I do not have the formal education but I’d love to make this a career so you have any advice? Thanks! Can’t wait for Ruby fever!!
Niki in Philly says
Also for HA—I know in person events can be a hassle but are you on calendar for any in NE region (NY, NJ, CT,PA) etc ?
Sivi says
This looks so good, but with a 5am start the next day I can’t afford to try to stay up from 12-1 am in the UK this time ☹️… so I’ve subscribed to the you tube channel to hopefully catch up later ????. Will just be missing out on those darn spoilers????
Moderator R says
I don’t think there will be a spoiler session in this one ????
Jessica says
Hi Mod R! Not a question for the chat, but a blog-related question. A long time ago, there was a blog post reviewing somebody’s writing where they talked about writing action scenes and making sure things happened in order. I looked through the writing articles but I couldn’t find it. Was it taken down or am I just not looking hard enough? Thanks for all you do, you’re awesome!
Moderator R says
Could it be this one? 🙂 https://ilona-andrews.com/2019/fights-and-banter/
This one sort of mentions fight scene logic https://ilona-andrews.com/2021/stories-from-the-writer-desk/
I’ll keep looking for you!
Moderator R says
Or this? https://ilona-andrews.com/2018/writing-questions-research/
Jessica says
Thanks so much! I don’t think any of these were the one I was thinking but maybe my memory edited it into something that doesn’t actually exist :D. Thank you for spending time looking into this for me!
Moderator R says
I’ll keep looking 🙂
ellen says
Hi- I have not read anything by Grace, do you have a recommendation on what book to start with?
Moderator R says
Ilona has recommended Phoenix Unbound https://ilona-andrews.com/2018/grace-dravens-phoenix-unbound/ (Fallen Empire series) previously.
I for one am completely, head over heals inlove with the Wraith Kings series- starting with Radiance, which is probably one of my favourite Beauty and the Beast retellings https://gracedraven.com/world/4 . They are both beasts, and then they are both beauties and rolling your eyes would make everyone sick 😀 (you’ll get it if you read Radiance hehe).
ellen says
thank you, I will check them out 🙂
njb says
YES!!!
Ellen Sandberg says
I am looking forward to it
Bill G says
Cool!
Sage6 says
For Ilona Andrews: Do we get to find out the name of the Baylor’s paternal grandfather ? I have a guess but would like to know for sure . Please and Thank You.
JoAnn says
I absolutely love Radiance, which I found thru this blog.
My Q is on that novel for GD: the whole approach to the marriage (no running, no tantrums) to be refreshing in a novel. What inspired this novel, or the entire series of the Wraith Kings?
Beth says
Unfortunately, I‘ll be driving home from a business trip, so I‘ll have to catch the recoding later. But it sounds like fun, Enjoy!
Beth says
Recording…. Sigh.

Silly question for all the authors…
As I have seen “Supply Chain issues” listed as the reason 2 books I had pre-ordered written by other authors were delayed, I wondered if these folks had any insights as to why a completed work could not have released on schedule n ebook even if the tangible formats were not yet ready or in place?
If I had a magic wand… I would use it to help my favorite authors write as fast as I read. I know who puts out the “good stuff”.
