We are happy to announce that the Kinsman collection is out today and available from Subterranean Press. It collects Silent Blade, Silver Shark and A Mere Formality. A Mere Formality started as a dare over if we could write a story based on a really vulgar line we saw in a movie. We did, mainly because we thought it was funny. The illustrations in this edition are beautiful.
We hope you like the stories and in the immortal words of the Critic, “Buy my book!
Keera says
I started to purchase it, then hubby said he already preordered it!! Its supposed to be here Wednesday or Thursday.
Kirsten says
Can’t wait for my copy to be delivered today!!!
Rachel says
What line? What film??? Love these books!! Silver shark is one of my faves!
Gordon says
I can’t remember the movie exactly but it was a man and a woman in a car, I think she was slightly older, they’re driving and I swear to God, he turns to her and says, deadpan, “Grab my cock.” We just started laughing. It probably wasn’t meant to be funny but we cracked up. Ilona, can I say cock on the blog?
Inés Heinz says
Hahaha! How i hund of want to watch the movie.
Gingko-girl says
Turgid tumnescence would probably be acceptable! ?

Natalie says
There is no way I can see for that not to be funny. I can’t remember where it originates from but now the line: ‘Take this, it’s dangerous where you go’ is stuck in my head as well.
Teri says
Isn’t that a paraphrase of the start of Zelda games when Link gets his first sword?
K D says
yes, that’s from Zelda. The first one I believe. “It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.”
Jenn says
??♀️?????
Teresa says
How about, “careful it spits”.

Wonderful news! I had some idea it was being published last November so asked my husband if he’d like to give me a copy for Christmas, to which he said yes of course.( What husband doesn’t breathe a sigh of relief when their book loving wife names a particular book they want and offers to order it? ) So I preordered it way back when, thinking it would arrive in plenty of time. It didn’t and we were starting to become anxious that it was lost enroute from the USA to Australia. Now I can anticipate its arrival and look forward to reading my favourite Ilona Andrews’ story Silver Shark minus the DSS/DDS typo that’s in my ebook copy.
The cover art looks good and appears to have accurate representations of the characters. I assume the girl in the red dress is Meli and the one with the red hair is Claire.
Congratulations and I hope it sells really well.
Sandra says
I’m in Aust too, and did the exact same thing. Preordered way back, then hubby forgot I said he could get me that book for Chrissie. Luckily. So double pressies!!! I periodically check to see when it was being posted, and soon it should arrive 😀
I already have them all in ebook, when they were first published but looking forward to the artwork.
Frances says
Sandra and Bill G (below) , where do you check to see if it has been posted? I looked at the Subterranean Press site and couldn’t see anywhere to check up on my order.
Rena says
I got an email, with the tracking # for US delivery, from them yesterday saying that it was shipped.
Frances says
Thankyou Rena. I found the email from Subterranean Press in the SPAM ! As though anything to do with the Authorlords deserves to end up in the spam folder!
Sandra says
Frances, on every bookseller site, if you order, you have an account. I just check my account, it was saying processing, now it says complete, which to me means they’ve posted it 🙂
I haven’t checked my emails today, getting slammed with fb crap (too many friends wishing me & others a Happy NY) So I should probably do that next.
Sandra says
And my beautiful copy arrived today, 9th January here! 😀
Anne in Virginia says
Mine arrived today. Gorgeous.

Patricia Schlorke says
I bought both. Downloaded the ebook format. The paper format is in the mail.
Happy New Year everyone! ??
Bill G says
I was just looking at my notification that it’s been shipped.
Pklagrange says
Mine came today! Thank you!
RJ Blain says
I absolutely can’t wait for my copy to come, it’s going to keep my Innkeeper’s company!! <3 <3 <3 It's going to be so! pretty! on my shelf with everything else. I just need to get a copy of Hugh's book, then I need to check if I'm missing anything. O.O
I also have no idea how I'm going to fit the precious on, but I may have to start some creative stacking…
mcdanib says
I look at that shelf, and my book-hoarding engineering mind says “Look at all that empty space for more books!!” ( think vertical stacking)
RJ Blain says
Yep, that’s probably what’s going to happen until there are enough IA books to expand to a third shelf. I just don’t want to have to stack such beauties. <3 <3 <3
Claudia C says

Laura /soapturtle says
I love love love love love A Mere Formality. Not sure why. I mean, it’s a great story and well written and all that…. but there’s something else there I love to bits I haven’t sussed out yet.
Karen says
I am absolutely sure that I would have cracked up too! What stellar screenwriting!
Cecilia Anderson says
I’ve had Silent Blade and Silver Shark since they came out as stand-alone some years back. Silver Shark is one of those things that I re-read when I’m in a funk. I’m sorry that you won’t be getting new royalties.
Frances says
Silver Shark is also one of my regular rereads. There is something about that story that really fascinates me. All the IA female protagonists are interesting but there is something about Claire’s journey that is special.
Remee says
I do love these stories and reread them every year or so. Feel free to write a new story in this universe.
Vala says
Your Kinsman stories are some of my favorites, got them again -love the illustrations! Thank you for such wonderful stories!

* downer alert *
A Cover (heck, even the edge binding) represents for me a book. It may take a while for author, series, or universe to kick in but l can find anything by the cover.
A collection (compilation) robs me of a cover
E -books updates rob me of covers! Yeah l bought it (book) infuenced by the cover. Remember it & identify where it is by the cover. The cover is not the tale, the skill, the joy of your writing. It is the package that gets tattered torn and shredded as it protects the utter complete magical majesty of your stories.
I accidentedly kicked dropped flung my nook after it updated (back in the day) & changed my Silent Blade cover (the 1st time). I propitiate the powers that be on behalf of Mere Formality & Of Swine & Roses.
I change my clothes, shoes, socks, eyeshadow & lipstick.
I read recently that all is Ephemera, all things change, all is change . . . But my book covers … gah ack no
Elodie says
Happy new year Authorlords!! Wish you the best for you and your family!?
I was wondering is A Mere Formality only available as a book ? I really want to read it but can’t find it on Kindle or Play Livres ?
Cathy says
Check the Authorlords website and look under Free Fiction. It can be downloaded from there.
Elodie says
Ohh great, thank you very much ! ??
Anonyma says
Will there be an affordable print edition coming out anywhen? I abhor Kindle etc. and the signed print edition an 75 Dollar seems to be the only one available at the moment. Sorry guys, I love your books but I also love many other books I could by with that money.
K D says
Any chance of the first Hidden Legacy being rereleased in hardcover? I’ve had to replace the paperback once already lol.
Marianne says
A very happy New Year, and wishes for lots of love and laughter in 2019, to the Author Lords and the BDH! ?
Pyrokar says
Is there a way to get these books in a normal printed version in Europe? With p&p this collector edition would be 113$ with shipping to Europe.
Or non DRM encumbered ebooks? I refuse to buy ebooks with DRM even if it pains me to miss some books from Illona Andrews :-(.
g027 says
Well, just ordered mine ? Did not expect that purchase, but… I want it. ❤️
Belated Happy New Year!! And thank you for writing wonderful books.
G027 says
Came to say I just received my copy. It’s gorgeous. I know what I’m rereading tonight 🙂
Garrick P. says
Bah. Sold out, and I must have missed the original announcement that they were available by pre-order. Sad day.
Edna says
Just ordered my copy! Can’t wait to get it! Love these stories!
Sandra says
My copy finally arrived today, mail can take forever to get to Australia or it can be only a couple of days, you never know. Luckily I pre-ordered cause I was #916 of 1000.
Zaz says
I enjoyed very much it, but not as much as the Hidden Legacy Verse. I mention it because the Kinsman verse feels like it incorporates many of the same ideas as Hidden Legacy. I am referring to the world building, the political structure of the families and the talent trends of the Kin. If you go back to a verse again I would love more Edge and of course Legacy and Daniels verses would never be turned down. Btw what verse is Alphas:Origins from? That is the only novel of yours that I didn’t finish reading. It really creeps me out. If it’s related to one of your established verses I might give it another try
