WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT’S THE FINAL BOOK????
This is karma. Some years ago Jeaniene Frost called me terribly upset. The publisher scheduled a signing but only gave her three weeks to promote it and she was all like, “Three weeks isn’t enough! I will get people complaining that they didn’t know about it.” And I was like, “Surely three weeks are enough. You have a blog, a Facebook, a Twitter, and a newsletter…”
I’ve now been talking about Magic Triumphs being the last book for a year on blog, Facebook, Twitter, and newsletter. And many people are terribly surprised.
To clear things up: Kate and Curran have earned their HEA. But we are not planning to retire KD world. It will continue with Hugh’s book, which will likely be released this Spring, because it is best read before Magic Triumphs, and possibly novellas or books from other characters’ points of view. They may or may not be self-published. (They will probably be self-published.) We are planning to continue Innkeeper and we may resume talks with Avon regarding the future of Hidden Legacy. We will let you know when we have something definite.
Amanda says
We’ll all be waiting patiently ?
Dawn says
And I’ll be waiting as patiently as I can 🙂
I’d love to read more Hidden Legacy too!
Aggiereader says
Confirmation of more Hidden Legacy books would DEFINITELY console me, adequately.
Jwocky says
I know! The possibility of no more Hidden Legacy makes me sad.
Liz says
By far my favorite. All of their series are my faves, but HL tops the list. I miss it enough I might read it a fourth time ?
Andy L says
You owe us nothing. We are the ones who have been given the gift of your writings
carole says
Exactly!
Sue says
Yep!
Demi says
This!
Evil Jenny says
Maybe people were in denial? I was sad when I realized, about 7 or so months ago, that Kate 10 was the last book. Then I perked up and said, “I wonder if this means we’ll get a Roman book sometime”. 😀
I can’t wait to see what the ending for Kate and Curran is, and to see what y’all do later. Particularly with Hidden Legacy.
Andri/Kaylenn says
Yay, Roman! I would love to see him get his own book. =)
Tamara says
What a great idea! Roman would be very interesting. Evil things love him 🙂
Bambi Unbridled says
I’m excitedly (and patiently) waiting. The ending may be bittersweet but I know you guys will continue to entertain us no matter the book, series, characters, etc.
Andri/Kaylenn says
Kate and Curran have definitely earned that happily ever after and since you were originally going for four(?) books and ended up with ten, I’d say it was a definite win for us readers! Kate’s world is a diverse and fascinating place and there’s a wealth of stories to last a lifetime in it. After ten books, who can blame you for wanting to try something different? I certainly can’t. =)
I do hope we see more Hidden Legacy. It didn’t escape my attention that there are some threads that were not tied up in the original trilogy so there is room to continue. Again, with that alternate Earth, there’s a wealth of possibilities. I kind of see Hidden Legacy being a very early precursor (historically speaking), to your Kinsmen work.
Love the Innkeeper series, too. Maud’s story is going to be amazing and she’ll have the bad guys trailing her on a leash before all is said and done. She doesn’t give up, and being underestimated is a huge advantage in her favor. =)
I also do not put it past you to invent something entirely new, and I have faith that it will be as wonderful as the other worlds you’ve shared with us! =)
Barbara Barroso says
Book 7. Originally it was suppose to be 7 KD books, but the awesome authorlords realized they needed Kate to grow more into her powers to face Roland for real, so 3 more books were contracted to finish the story in the best way.
Andri/Kaylenn says
Thank you! I could not remember the original number… =)
sarafina says
And Andrea’s book.
Dori says
Hear hear! Couldn’t have said it better myself
Andrea says
After KD, the Innkeeper books are probably my favorites, so knowing there will be more gives me solace in saying goodbye to these good friends. Plus you’re right, Kate does deserve her HEA, and you are a benevolent god. Frankly I love whatever you write, if you published a grocery list and I would love it.
Barbara Barroso says
How bizarre. If you’re a die hard fan of KD, as so many and I are, you have known for ages this book was the last. You have been saying it since book 7 came out that 10 was the last.
Anyway, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write more Hidden Legacy books. More with Nevada & Rogan as the protagonists, but also others in the same world. Arabella & Catalina stories. Or any other characters. I adore Hidden Legacy, especially since KD is finishing up.
Thank God for the Innkeeper Chronicles, that will help keep me sane. Plus, Hugh’s book and more novellas or even book from KD World.
Jane Graham says
Happy to wait, I’d also love more of everything! I’d love to revisit Dahlia if it’s ever possible?
Debi Majo says
Most of us have “girded our loins” for the past year because WE READ EVERYTHING YOU POST! I understand that you need to move on… and maybe someday we will see something about Derek, or someone else… it’s all good! I have the ENTIRE series in both real books and ebooks… we can all re-read them as we wait patiently for what you create next?
Mandi says
Maybe Conlan will grow up and have a book…
Maybe Julie will have a book? Or more novellas? I can hope right? Maybe Jim will have kittens and they will turn his life upside down and pull his whiskers!!! ?
Thanks for all the KD books! I’m not happy it’s the last one ?but I understand.
Shelly says
My wish list.
You find a publisher that suits you, or self publish, whichever fits you better.
More Kate World/Derek and Julie books.
More Hidden Legacy.
More Inkeeper/Maude. (She can have a spinoff series.)
Basically I just want more books, but in a way that suits your family.
Fan in California says
What they all said!!! Would love more Hidden Legacy and am really enjoying Maud’s turn . . . . Bottom line: I love everything you write!
Being creative is HARD work!!!! The most important thing is to take care of you and yours.
Naomi says
I’m sorry to see the series ending, but I have read them more than once, I listen to the audio, so it will never really end for me. I do look forward to whatever you two have for your readers in the future. So from the bottom of my heart, thanks for a great run.
Star says
Thank you for keeping us all updated. I would really really love more Hidden Legacy books if at all possible! 😀
Vioet says
Denial denial denial
Stacy says
I’m going to miss Kate and Curran like crazy, but I’m looking forward to seeing more from their world. Another Hidden Legacy would be fabulous!
Connie says
That sounds like a good plan. Personally, I am hopeful that Hidden Legacy will continue. I want to know how the characters grow and where they go! Innkeeper has the same hook but not as deep as Hidden Legacy. I am looking forward to the twist in the last Kate book. I know it will be there, hints have been dropped. Thank you for sharing your worlds with us. They bring great enjoyment.
Cindy says
Thanks for a great series! I am also excited for your continued adventures in self-publishing. Everything, including books, has gotten so expensive.
Darlene says
We, the horde, can wait, it will be worth it as always. Oh yes, more Hidden Legacy, please and anything else you wish to write! ? I’ll read it, thank you for being the writers you are.
Tim Muszalski says
I’d love like at the end of the innkeeper chronicles for all your book series to make cameos doesn’t have to be as big as the one in sweep in peace. I’d think it be a rather fitting end to the series
ZthRs says
“Kate and Curran have earned their HEA.”
Agreed. In fact, I think they’ve earned the right to spend a week or so of quality down time at ‘the nicest Bed and Breakfast in Red Deer, Texas’……….
Thank you for a great series, looking forward to seeing how you finish it off.
Robin Snyder says
Ha! Well wouldn’t that be a fun short story.
R Coots says
More Hidden Legacy would be great! My heart has been wishing for a Jim/Dali story post Jim-as-Beast-Lord, but I know logistically that’s probably not going to happen. Can’t wait for Hugh though!
Robin Snyder says
I’m so glad that option A is out the window. Definitely take care of yourself first and everything else will fall into place. I think that the better you feel the better the books you write will be. Since I enjoy all of your series, overall that is a win for me as a reader and you as a writer. Plus you only get one shot to end your series and I for one am glad that you get extra time to make sure it is the ending you want to give us.
Also 21 books! Congrats your writing career is legal now so take it out for some drinks.
As for not knowing it was the last in this series I wonder if they got lost in woods, fell down a well or were stranded on an Island for awhile. So I welcome them back to the world of the living.
As always health and happiness to you and your family.
MissB2U says
More Hidden Legacy would be epic. Thank you. Also Roman’s book. I just know it would be a delight.
Keri says
Your books for me are a life saver. After losing my daughter one way to cope was reading or listing to audio books. I have reread or listen to your books several times. Thank you for writing books that can give me a happy place to be.
Ami says
I’d infinitely prefer the series ending well and with an HEA than doing horrible things to the characters or drawing it out in stupid ways until we give up and stop following in disgust (both of which I’ve seen happen w other authors). So thanks. And people never cease to amaze
JusticeLion says
Is there any chance you’ll pursue another contract with Ace Publishing on future projects? After writing books for them for 10 years, I’d be surprised if they didn’t try to nail you down on another book deal rather than lose you to another publishing house.
If this question is too invasive, then please disregard with my apologies.
Diane L says
Very glad you’re going to continue to write books set in Kate’s world! More Hidden Legacy books would be fantastic and, of course, the wonderful Innkeeper stories. Hey, I’ll read anything you people write!! 🙂
Catlover says
Thanks for the good news! I just put this timeline together after reading your post. Serial Maud novella running now, followed by published Maud novella, Hugh book, possible other character’s novellas, August final Kate book! Yes, its going to be a banner year for Andrew’s books and let us not forget the possibility of more Hidden Legacy books! Wow, you are going to be busy but, hopefully, at a more sustainable less pressured and healthy pace. I salute your work ethic, so excited, big smile and happy dance!
Anna S says
Sweet! So a possible book before Magic Triumphs. I remember when you announced Hugh’s book. A lot of us thought it was you joking. Didn’t you announce it on April fool’s or around there? Shoot, now I’m confusing myself.
Jen says
I think it started out as a joke, but people became so excited about it, they decided to just go with it.
Tara says
Should I feel bad that I want Hugh’s book more than I want Kate’s?
Now for my laundry list of side KD universe stories:
Roman. More Roman please!
Desandra – How can the Author Lords not??
Derek and Julie with a side of Ascanio…
Aneira says
Thank god it’s not just me! Honestly, I’ve been waiting for Hugh’s book for more than 2 years. And judging by the snippets it’s going to be awesome.
I’d love a Desandra book as well, and one about Roman! And maybe a novella about Ghastek!
Annamal says
I’d love a DeSandra *and* Roman book, they’re both such lovely nexuses of chaos
Aneira says
Roman, Desandra *and* Ascanio, even better! Talk about raising chaos!
Frances says
Thank you for ending the series. Truly. I’m ready to be done.
“The end of a melody is not a goal: but nonetheless, had the the melody not reached its end it would not have reached its goal either. A parable.” -Nietzsche
Also, Robert Jordon had 14 books in his wheel of time series. There comes a time when enough is enough. I’ve enjoyed your series, but I’m ready for something else. I imagine you guys are as well.
Marina says
I agree!
So far you have done a wonderfull job and since you keep on writing I am looking forward to new books.
You just keep on delivering fantastic reading material and we will keep on being addicted !!!
Reethu says
We will wait patiently…
But pls more hidden legacy
Judy says
This is great, I’ll bet you already have plans for something fermenting in your imaginations.
Ten is a lot of books unless you want to try for the record of, “In Death,” which I have to admit, I pretty much stopped reading after the first dozen,,, same with the, “Plums.”
Jael says
Well, whatever you decide to pursue in the future, I can’t wait to read it!
Patti McGhie says
Yay!!!
wont says
I read this post and shake my head. How could any declared fan of your work not know this? I don’t get it. We’ve know for far longer than a year this was the last book. Yes, we are (and have been) wailing and falling down in grief this series is coming to an end. Since Bites this series has been a constant. I could turn to it and reread and always receive enjoyment. Of course that won’t change, but knowing Triumphs is the last is definitely bittersweet. And, I will dip a toe in the treacherous waters of criticism and say I’m glad you’re ending the series as you are. Not dragging it to a slow and painful death as some authors have done. Knowing when to end is a tough decision and not all authors make the right one. So Thank You Ilona for this wonderful series. Thank You for bracing the shark infested fan waters and doing it your way. Hugs.
Angela Harms says
Well said!
sarafina says
Yep.
patricialea says
HUGH’S BOOK! HUGH’S BOOK! So glad to hear his book will be out before the final book. Something to feed my addiction.
Angela Harms says
I’m back in college trying to earn my bachelors and this sounds like people in EVERY class sounding shocked that an assignment is due even though the professor says repeatedly at the beginning of the semester that due dates are on the syllabus.
KathyInAiken says
You done good. We have enjoyed the ride. Now we have other journeys ahead of us. Will I miss them? Yes. But I am one of those lucky people who can read and reread over and over. I look forward to whatever you have in store for us. Now, I am going to go back to Hulu and watching Lucifer and ER.
sarafina says
You’ve done great, and I’m really annoyed with Jim Butcher. I’m not impressed with his latest tendencies plot-wise although I really like Harry getting to raise Maggie. With Maud’s story running, I can easily wait. She’s more interesting to me than Dina.
Maybe you can take a few days off and get out of Dodge. I do hope Hidden Legacy continues.
Ericka says
Right??? Super annoyed with jb right now. Cipher was his strongest work in years, Harry isn’t going in good directions and he hasn’t published a real book in years – it’s all graphic novels. His choice, of course, but he came off my “buy it immediately” list several years ago.
sarafina says
Well, JB’s life got interesting; one marriage ended, another began, his son went to college and life is what it is. I’m still not happy about it, but if not having a new Harry book this week was my worst problem, my life would be pretty darn great. Still a little annoyed, though.
Shlomi says
I’m jealous of your writing cadence, especially with your having a real life and everything. Thanks for creating a great world, and for continuing it beyond just Kate’s POV.
Tink says
I didn’t find this blog until about the third Kate book, so well after the Edge books, if the blog had been around that long. And I don’t have Twitter or Facebook, so I only tried those sites as a lark a year or so ago and saw that they were (somewhat) open to the general public so you don’t need an account to read posts on those sites. So if someone just recently found this blog or your Twitter or FB sites, then I can see them not knowing until now.
That said… What do you mean it’s the last book?!?! (Sorry, couldn’t resist. :P)
Alana says
To be fair, you have been telling us since before the 7th book that 10 would be the last. That’s at least four years. So I am surprised that there are still people who didn’t know. We also got 3 more books than originally intended, plus the Magic Stars novella, PLUS Hidden Legacy which is also awesome. So please know that this fan very much appreciates you guys and the way you have kept us in the loop!
Mary B says
When I read your earlier blog I thought “here come the comments about it being the last book.” You’ve given us all plenty of warning to expect this as the finale of the main series. Geez. I guess you should have taken out billboards in every major city.
Kirsten says
While yes it is sad to have the Kate Daniels series come to an end, I look forward to your new projects that I hope will be coming out in the future. Weather they be new Innkeeper, Hidden Legacy or a new series all together! (An all new series would be amazing! :D)
Just so long as you guys continue to love writing, I will continue to love whatever you are willing to share with us.
Tink says
BTW, you were talking in the previous post about Option A and Option B. There are a LOT of authors whom I love who only release one book a year. The fact that you guys put out at least 2 books a year, if not more, is awesome. You guys rock!
Katelin says
Take my money. I want more Hidden Legacy.
Danielle says
You have been talking about how book ten will be the last one since before book seven came out. I am both super excited, sad, and I can’t wait to see what you do next. I honestly hope you end up going the self publishing route with all your books in the future. From what I’ve seen this give you a lot more control and from a fan perspective self publishing is a much quicker process so we will get the books more quickly once they are done. But either way I will keep reading. You are my automatic buy and one of the few authors I’m willing to pay hardback book prices for. ?
Pat Crouch says
More books? Yay!!!
I got that this is the last book. My health is really bad so I’m hoping it comes in before I go out, but what can I do? So I’m happy more books are coming before August.
Joanne says
I know I wasn’t surprised since it’s been mentioned so much but just having it announced that it was finally completed had emotions running through me!
Similar to I know I have to go back to work after maternity leave and I’ve known about it since day 1 of the pregnancy but once it’s down to the last couple weeks and I actually have to start preparing… I’m hit with the sudden sobbing and feelings of trouble don’t want to leave my children and go to work. We knew the last book was coming soon (I assume this is the case with others as well) but it just seems so tangible now with that previous post!
I can’t wait to read about Hugh and super hoping more of Hidden Legacy soon!!
kelsey says
i wish hugh has at least 3 books. he needs a HEA
tylikcat says
What is wrong with me? I don’t even particularly want to snark “And I want to read through three books of him crawling over broken glass to get there.” …yeah, I’m kind of hoping he finds his own.
kelsey says
make a new series about kate and curran’s kid. and yes i love hidden legacy, there’s gotta be more than just 3 books. there has to be 10!!! lol
Lara S. says
Yes! How can Avon not want more Hidden Legacy?! I wondered why not more of them. Stupid publishers. They should be throwing gold at these guys!!!
Kelly Jacobs says
Yes! Please resume talks!
Tink says
I don’t know, I’m kind of hoping they self-publish. Self-publishing means we get the books faster, since we’re not dependent on the publisher’s schedule, like we are with KD 10 being pushed back.
That is said from a purely selfish perspective. I don’t know what the sales numbers are between the publishing house books and the self-published books. I imagine the publishing house books get into brick-and-mortar stores, but if Ilona and Gordon pay to have paperbacks made, then there are physical copies that could be sold through Amazon, for example.
So I’m good with whatever option Ilona and Gordon pick. I think they themselves like writing the Hidden Legacy series, so I can’t see it stopping, even if Avon takes a pass.
Biji says
The KD series has been a true friend for me. These books helped me through a terrible phase of my life and also gave me the strength to see things from a new perspective. It is sad to see a friend go. But, I’m happy for the HEA. And the fact that the KD world will still have stories to tell.
I’m also happy that the Hidden Legacy might get new books. The ending of Wildfire did leave a lot of questions.
It’s been a wonderful journey with Kate n Curran.. Excited for the last book.
Thabk you, author Lords. ..
DianainCa says
I will read whatever you publish, ? I have enjoyed your books and look forward to whatever universe you would like to tell us about.
Clare says
Can you self-produce audio books too (with Renee R. only) too? I have difficulty with eyes. I can get through novellas but even lose, my eyes have issues.
vinity says
Innkeeper series is self pubbed with Renee Raudman doing the audios.
Tink says
There might just be more of a delay in getting audio versions of self-pubbed books, since they have to work with the narrator’s schedule for recording the book.
Aneira says
At this point I’m starting to think they’re planning to release Hugh’s book on April 1 just to mess with us!
Ericka says
That would be awesome!
Angel says
? That would be a good Easter present!!
Tink says
Hah! Perfect full-circle. I love that idea!
Lindis says
And I still snigger at your Hugh’s book joke from an April 1st a couple of years ago. Just write more wonderful books for us to buy and we’ll be happy:)
Lexie C says
I would love a Jim & Dali book or more Derek or Julie Investigates Things with her peers.
Well I really just want to see Julie and Derek in a HEA.
I’ve tried to ignore it’s the last book, but well.
Lona says
This series has been an auto buy for me since it started. I also Will read anything you guys offer. Thanks so much for all the hours of pleasure. Love InnKeeper.
Marla says
Im sad because i enjoy Kate Nd Curran so much but all heroes get too old gor that happy horse sh*t and need to enjoy its just because it is the final book, im afraid you will kill off someone ill be sobbing over (this happened to me during shannon meyers rylee books). Its a tra in wreck i cant keep my eyes off. Deep sigh
Jamie Josserand-Miller says
I pretty much read whatever y’all write so if you keep writing, I’ll keep reading. Thank you so much for hours of reading enjoyment.
kate says
Sooooo – I thought Kate Daniels was my favourite. Full stop. And then Hidden Legacy happened.
Needless to say – I have been waiting to hear what is next for hidden legacy and am so excited that there is the potential for more.
I am hoping that potential will be realized 😀 But – basically please never stop writing. (so change deadlines, take care of your health and don’t write yourselves into an early demise)
CT says
Please could we have more hidden legacy? I’m listening to the series on an Audible loop. I can almost recite them now. (But only when you have the headspace of course!) x
Kris Ten-Eyck says
I listened and understood this would be the last Kate Daniels novel and I appreciate any book you happen to write. If you are going to be still playing in the Kate Daniels universe, I am hoping to get intermittent updates about Kate, Curran, et al, which will keep me happy, because I absolutely love character updates as they pop up in other stories. I am hoping REAL hard to get more in the Hidden Legacy universe, but you and Gordon gotta do what you gotta do regarding it. I am enjoying reading about the Innkeeper universe, and cannot wait to find out what other worlds and universes you and Gordon develop in the future.
Jennifer says
I don’t care what world you write in, just please keep writing. New worlds are good too.
Carol says
Just keep writing, thank you.
Lauren M says
Yay!! I look forward to Hugh’s story and I love love love the Innkeeper and Hidden Legacy series. I’m so glad you’re planning on continuing with them. I’ve also really appreciated your book recommendations while I patiently await your upcoming work!
HopeT. says
You’ve been very transparent, but some people are ostriches (legend, not real). I look forward to whichever series/book is coming!
Judy says
I hope you feel complemented that we love the characters you created so much that it is difficult to say good bye. Will be able to read the series over from beginning to end. That is a plus
Glad to hear this is not the end of Kate Daniels world.
Love Innkeeper. Looking forward to more in this series.
Thank you for creating worlds that take me away from this one for awhile
Christine says
Happy dance ? here in wet and windy Essex (UK) ?
Patricia Schlorke says
Whatever you write, I’ll read with no complaints. ?
Tisiphone says
Good to know. Just so you know . . . if you ever wrote a dictionary or phone book . . . I’d read it, you really are that good.
Ms. Kim says
Hear, Hear!
S cook says
So happy to hear there will be more books set in this universe! It is my favorite series. Please don’t stop writing. I love you guys!
Angela M says
Yay! So many things I’m happy about! Hugh’s book, more KD world, and hopefully more Hidden Legacy! I can definitely see so much potential there, and, if course, the Innkeeper!
Mary Ann says
Thank you – I love your world building – the books that keep coming. While this one is coming to a close, I am looking forward to the next books, whether in kate’s world, the innkeeper, or hidden legacy – or maybe something entirely new.
You are both such special writers
Circejane says
Please, please, please more Hidden Legacy! As much as I love the KD world, I love Hidden Legacy even more. #moarHousestoriesplzthanx #takeyourtimethough #restisimportant
Tina Black says
Whatever you write (oh yes for Hidden Legacy!) I’ll get. Even Hugh before Magic — he is one kinky boy.
Seoman says
Yay, looking forward to more stories of KD world. Would love a story about Christopher and Barabas
Jennifer says
I always count myself competely lucky when any author I love starts another series. I’d much rather have an author complete a series with a wonderful HEA than continue a series into redundancy. Thanks for bringing mote light into my life… on another note I hope dearly that Avon keeps y’all on – I don’t think Nevada and Mad Rogan are done yet. ?
Laura says
Well I suppose if you are going to tantalize us with references to more Hidden Legacy, Innkeeper, and KD world books we have to pretend to be reasonable gimen beings and wait impatiently, right?
Ericka says
I love kate’s Books, but you’re totally right – she deserves her hea, and so do you. (Why is autocorrect randomly capitalizing Some words these days? Such a mystery.)
I’m glad you called it – and stuck to it – rather than drag her story out past anyone’s interest.
I thought the Kate books were my favorite until innkeeper, and then they were my favorite until hL, which were my favorite until the next newest Kate… basically whatever the newest book is, is my favorite. And I can’t wait to see what cool direction you guys go in next.
Samantha says
I am still rolling over, “Rocks fall, everyone dies!” Absolutely cracking up over the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad news. I am just going to have re-read the serries a couple extra times….hrm OK! Christmas came really early this year.
Mary Jo says
Hidden Legacy!!!! Pleeeezzzzeee!!!! (whimper) pretty please.
Lynn-Marie says
Awesome pic!
Samantha says
Awe, begging as an artform.
Kaitlin says
The main thought that steamrolled through my mind was “pleasemoreHiddenLegacyomgyes”.
I remember you posted before about this being the last in the Kate Daniels series, and while sad I also think Kate and Curran have earned their HEA. Huzzah for any and all books from the Authorlords!
Tamara says
I have enjoyed each and every book you bring out and everything you write in your blog. I’d read your version of Red Riding Hood if you wrote it. I’m still hoping one day to find out what happens to the rock you wrote about on the blog a while back as an example to future writers. As a member of your faithful BDH, getting to the HEA is fun part, actually achieving it means waiting for another HEA journey to start. Enjoy your break. You two deserve it. Just know your faithful BDH will be lurking 🙂
Marek says
You have talked for a long time over this being the last book. I was not surprised. But most people don’t pay attention.
Anne Schultz says
After this weekend’s missile scare a change in publishing dates is a drop in the bucket. ( yes, I was one of the unfortunates in Hawaii who thought that I might possibly see what bombed back to Stone Age looks-like for 40 crazy minutes) Do I wish I could read the pages as they fell off the printer, absolutely! But, no author writes as fast as I can read so I’m doomed to wait…and wait. At least wait will be worth it. You are one of giving authors out there to your fans. I be concerned when you say you are no longer planning to write any more anything.
Jessica says
It is surprising to me you are under contract for more books, even if it is under a new series or what not. Is it to your advantage to self publish?
M says
You have the right to take care of you, the BDH can wait. Patience is a virtue.. all things comes to those who wait… who am I kidding, I check everyday for an Innkeeper update. I am glad there will be more stories in the KD universe. Periodic snarks from Curran and Kate will be appreciated. Avon should contract you for three more books in the Hidden Legacy series. Did we not buy enough copies?
Have a nice day and keep creating.
Hat says
Just continue writing. Doesn’t matter, KD series, KD world, Hidden legacy, innkeeper, restart the edge series, whatever. Just never stop! Please!
Vala says
Hey, I’m just focused on that “earned their HEA” part – HEA yay!! I would wholeheartedly say they deserve it, much better than “rocks fall, everyone dies”! I do hope you will be able to give Julie some adventure and an HEA as well. As always, thank you for the wonderful stories you both give us!
Liz V says
Hehehe, now I want to send in a melodramatic over the top WTH email “THis is the Last BoOK???!?” o.O
I do recognize however, that my sense of humor isn’t the norm and it wouldn’t actually be funny to whomever ends up reading it.
Dang logic ruining my fun! 😛
Mike says
Ha I love it! How can you be outraged it’s the final book without loving the series and therefore trawling this site for all the info and occasional snippet?!? Or maybe people aren’t quite as sad as me?
ada says
Really, REALLY hope there are more Hidden Legacy!
J says
You are such a good writer that we will always want more of what we know but you cannot listen to us. We are like toddlers in front of a box of Sees and are not to be trusted to know what is best.
To give us more Kate (when all of you feel she deserves a break) I suspect would be a frustrating enterprise plus it may deprive us of universes we love as much (or gasp) even more.
Breath, rest (as much as you are comfortable with), write what you want – I promise the hoards will read (and love) it.
Angel Mercury says
More of All of the Above pls 🙂
I’m sad but also happy Kate is finding her happy ending, and that there will likely continue to be novellas from that world means it’s not like they’re going to be gone. The Kate world has so many amazing secondary characters that really shine when you give them their own stories. There’s a lot you can continue to play with in that world so I’m excited we’ll continue to see more of it from different people. Between that and Innkeeper you guys will for sure be staying busy.
I hope talks with Avon go well, should they resume. Hidden Legacy became a fast favorite for me as well.
Sarah says
I have a copy of everything you have written that I can find and I don’t expect that to change. Really love your work – just keep writing something.
Christy says
Sooooo…… Christopher and Barnabus???????
Corrinne says
Yes, more of Hidden Legacy, please.
Frances says
I am looking forward to new Kate book in August and quite happy that it is the last in this story arc because Kate and Curran have earned their HEA, especially if the alternate was rocks fall, everyone dies !
If we are lucky there will be more stories in the world of Kate Daniels . Andrea’s story Gunmetal Magic is a terrific example of a stand alone story in that world ( and the Aunt B scenes are worth the price of admission alone).
I hope there can be more Hidden Legacy. Nevada and Rogan are a terrific couple and her family are awesome, even Grandmother on father’s side is fascinating and definitely not the one dimensional villain she would have been in the hands of a lesser writer. There is definitely scope for that story arc to be further explored, or if not, stories in the world of Hidden Legacy will be welcomed.
In the meantime we can enjoy our beloved Innkeeper series.
Megan says
I really really hope there are more hidden legacy books! Just finished the series and cannot wait for the others!!!! I can’t believe it’s the last Kate Daniels book! But I am so excited to see how everything gets wrapped up! Definitely one of my favorite series of all times!
Lilian Corrigan says
Possibly More Hidden Legacy books!! YES,YES, YES!!
Michelle says
Doing the happy dance about that too.
Sumi says
Doing a happy dance about Hidden Legacy as well! ! ! But also apprehensive about possible contract with Avon coming bundled with more hideous book covers 🙁
Mariya says
OMFG! PLEASE CONTINUE WITH MORE HIDDEN LEGACY! I NEED MORE OF THAT SERIES!!! And for the record I am not surprised this is the last book, it feels like Kate’s story is time to come to an end, though I wouldn’t mind little short novellas now and then about Kate, Curran and Conlan. Kate Daniels was a great series and I’m glad it lasted as long as it did, but I’m looking forward to more new projects/books from you b/c I just cannot get enough of your writing!
Michelle says
?
Midge says
Just let me know how to get Hugh’s book – because I must have it – ha ha. And whenever you have a book out I want it so just keep us up to date and I’ll be very happy. I love your books!
Deb in PA says
As long as you keep writing and publishing, I’m happy!
Simone says
It’s bittersweet. I do want to know what happens to Derek…..
Kelly M says
Me too! He deserves his HEA too!
Kimberly Willoughby says
Me too!
Lisa-Lynn says
Me 4th!
Bill G says
Whatever works for the two of you, write it up and make it available when and as you can.
Please.
Thank you for what you do.
Susan Linch Ravan says
KD-favorite series ever, but everything you write is great.
Bea says
I really hope that you will continue with Hidden Legacy. You have built a great world and I want to know more. I just don’t think Rogan and Nevada’s story is complete yet.
CharisN says
I was ready to buy the Little Red Riding Hood story you developed as an example of how to write! As long as you two continue to write I have a good reason to keep breathing in and out. Thank you.
Anne says
Hope for more Hidden Legacy! The trilogy thus far hit the spot and I’ve reread so often they are looking worn
Keely says
I’m really sad this is the last KD book, but I’m so excited to see how it all ends. I am hoping to see Derek and Julie and Ascanio in the future, though. I really love those characters. And I’m hoping for more Nevada and Rogan. Love that series too.
Gail K says
Thank you for Kate and Curran, Nevada and Rogan,Dina and Sean and hopefully Maud and Arland. I have had a wonderful time in each book and look forward to many more books . Julie and Derek, I would love more on them, Andrea is also a favorite as is Christopher and George . Don’t forget we need to find out about Dina’s and Maud’s brother and parents . And maybe Lord Soren. Just keep writing . We will keep reading .
Jill says
Another Andrea book would be delightful. Good luck on the Hidden Legacy negotiations. I’d really enjoy reading more in that world.
Marnie says
I think it’s great if you self publish. I hope we will still get wonderful audiobooks narrated by the incredible Renee Raudman.
Lauryn M says
Me too!! Renee Raudman is my absolute favorite narrator on Audible. I have every one of your books available on Audible but was acutely disappointed when she did not narrate Magic Stars. All credit due given to other hard working narrators but she is simply worlds beyond in talent. A very select few narrators still pass muster, and I do love them, but RR is iconic.
Rhonda says
While it’s sad that the Kate Daniels series is coming to an end, I am glad you are ending the series on a strong note. I will happily read your stories from the Kate universe, the Innkeeper universe, Hidden Legacy and whatever new series you dream up. Now to wait until the next installment of Maud’s story appears.
Linda says
I am pleased you have gotten to where you wanted with Magic Triumphs. Congratulations. I am excited to read it & look forward to it when it is available. If people are unaware that it was coming maybe they are not fanatics like most of us here .
Love the Innkeeper series happy that it may continue. Extra extra excited at the possibility of more Hidden legacy.
I really hope that it comes to fruition 🙂
But I am excited & keen to read anything that you publish, self published or otherwise.
Thanks again for the amazing stories , worlds, and adventures . You do a really great job with anything that you write
NickiC says
I am thankful for anything you write and publish. All your worlds are pretty amazing.
Gloria Magid says
A agree with everything everyone above has said. It’s the end of my work day, and all original thoughts have fled, but know that I love the worlds you have created – all of them!
Tasha A says
I’m happy about anything and everything you write so thank you!!! I’m looking forward to what’s next! So how are you two feeling about the the end of series? Excited about moving on to something else?
Carolyn Sanders says
Oh yay thank you for the clarification, I really love the KD World. I’ve enjoyed The Edge, and the Inn Keeper, but I love the character development found in the Kate Daniels series. Looking forward to Hugh and Jim with fluffy kittens, meow meow.
Ardelle Hughes says
Maybe we will get very lucky and have a Derek and Julie story arc take over. That would be cool. We could stay in the KD word but see other characters get their HEA and best of all your publisher might sign a new contrac with you for it because the fans would eat it up. This story line has a huge world built up with many characters to choose from, Who knows maybe you could run as long as Chistine Feehans Dark series
Ashley says
I don’t know HOW I missed the news this is the last book… you’ve been telling us for a year?!? Really? Well dang! I kinda do feel like I’ve been gut punched – I’m going to miss Kate something awful. Thank god for re-reads!
As an aside – thank you SO much for doing the Innkeeper books as a serial – I’m freaking LOVING the new Maud book and read all 3 of Dina’s online. And I would totally buy more Hidden Legacy books if you wrote them but I’m sure whatever you do next will be awesome!
Denisetwin says
So glad you are able to end the series as you want. I love Hidden Legacy and hope you feel inspired to continue in that world as well. Thanks for all you write!
Nix says
More Hidden Legacy pretty please with a ribbon on top.
JenS says
I wrote an email to your publishers begging them to extend the contract for Hidden Legacy. I told them it was such a well built world with possible story lines just waiting for their chance. Not to mention an non- ending ending. Good luck!
Dee says
Im looking forward to an official HEA for one of my favorite pairings ever, Kate/Curran. But I’m equally as excited about seeing more of Hidden Fires and the Innkeeper universes – I’ve come to enjoy reading about them so much!
Shanna K says
How come I can’t find magic triumphs on audio book? Has it not been released on audiobook yet?
trailing wife says
Release date Aug 28, 2018, according to Amazon. So we have to eat our vegetables, wash behind our ears, and be very, very good for only seven more months and a bit. 😉
Nean says
Hmm HEA? I thought – “rocks fall, everyone dies” The End…
😉
I am still dreaming of InnKeeper the prequel – Setting up House. I so want to see more of Dina’s parents and early family life.
PS – I’m really liking the title “Maude – to be Determined” Yes, I know that TBD is meant to be a place holder for the real “sweep” title. But I feel she will need to be determined to uncover the the hidden agenda of the wedding. Also – the status of Maude and Arland is still TBD so it plays in a lot of ways. Just saying.. I think it’s a keeper.
Rosalita says
Dear Authorlords just saying rocks fall ….all die, gave me a fit of the giggles. I enjoy the wry bits of humor that you embed in your blogs and books. I will miss Kate and her “Why me?” But she and Curran very much deserve their HEA . And so do you Authorlords deserve your break from the pressures you have for 10 yrs . We love what you write whatever! Take carel. Blessings Rose
Monica Martin says
I’ve known it was coming. You even said a few times. It’s always bittersweet saying goodbye to a long running series. Especially a much loved series. It’s my favorite. I’m excited what you both have in store and Hugh’s book. The Legacy series. Yay!
Mushy says
I will be so happy with Kate and Curran’s HEA but I will also miss them. I am not a fan of Hugh but I would love to hear his side of the story.I would also love to hear something of Julie trying her best at adulting and lets not forget the Boy Wonder! (would really love to see more from these two crazy kids.) But what I would also really love to see is something for the Edge series with Lark and friends. IJS. I think you (both of you) have a phenomenal gift of story telling and I can’t wait for pretty much anything your imagination can feed to my imagination. (if you give up writing I may need a twelve step to get over it) Thank you for the gift.
Sarah G says
As much as in some ways I’d like the Kate series to never end I do want to see her and Curran get their HEA and I’m happy that you’re still planning to give us stories in their world. There are so many incredible characters I’d love to get to know better & hopefully we’ll get glimpses of Kate & Curran happily enjoying their lives in the background! Yay for more Innkeeper too, I’m loving Maud’s novella already 🙂
I am desperately hoping for more Hidden Legacy books too, I’m obsessed with Nevada and Rogan but I also love Nevada’s entire family so again have hopes you’ll branch out into stories for her sisters and cousins. Not that I’m greedy or anything LOL.
Let’s face it though, no matter what you decide to write, whatever world it’s set in (old or new) or whatever new genres you may or may not decide to explore in the future, traditionally or self published, if it has your names on it then it will jump straight to the top of my to buy list!
Lauryn M says
Yes I knew KD the core finale was imminent. Can we just say selective denial is king? LoL.
I can barely keep up with my reading material and it’s severely curtailed to the minimum as it is but EVERYTHING stops for ANY books/novellas/posts you publish, self or otherwise.
Hugh’s book and Spring in the same sentence nearly made my heart stop. All good.
Whenever, wherever, however it gets here, I’m on it like white on rice.
Carol says
LOL … There is always one or two or thirteen people that miss it. Plus you have been saying the same about KD World and Innkeeper and Hidden Legacy! Bless you! Just bless you!
D*Lm* a says
And the beat rolls on & on &
Kate has lived hard & true, risking her heart & overcoming her fear of what
Roland might demand for her living her life despite him. Curran has walked at her side as they fought for this.
Their story is an inspiration not voyeurism.
A book can be re-read for those moments that move us.
This tale is told and parting is sorrowful BUT
They deserve the HEA of laundry days and barbeques and closed blinds
Carol says
Oh my goodness! So very well said! I agree!!
Laurel says
More Hidden Legacy Please, Please, Please! And more Derek and Julie! And don’t forger Jack, George and Gaston from Innkeeper/The Edge.
Jade says
I think you’ve done a terrific job with the KD series and although I’m REALLY sad to see it end, it’s better than being dragged out far too long which I’ve seen many other series do. I can’t wait to see more of Derek and Julie and the Inkeeper series! And other original work too! I love the Hidden Legacy series SO MUCH! You are my favorite author, you do you!
Renee says
Thank you for ending the series on what I know will be a high note! I just recently joined your mailing list so it was a surprise, but you are the authors and it is your prerogative to bring the storyline to a close. There are lots of places to go in Innkeeper, Derek and Julie’s story, Hidden Legacy as well as Kinsmen world 🙂 Thank you for providing me with so much reading pleasure.
Prospero says
New house, kids out of HighSchool. You folks deserve a break after all the wonderful stories you’ve given us. Thank you.
Chris says
This is probably the biggest drawback of social media – people treat it as if you’ve opened a door and let them in your life.
It should be treated as if youve happened to see each other at Starbucks. Or the grocery store. A political rally, wine club, football game… each topic should be treated as a venue and the conversation kept appropriate.
Like a dog park. We have an obvious common interest, we’re friendly but not friends, if you’re not there I assume you’ve got more important things to do that aren’t my business, but then you go out of your way to leave me a note since you know I enjoy our chats.
Your work is outstanding, you treat your fan base fabulous, and you go out of your way to read the emails and then respond to them.
The BDH will vanquish all naysayers and begs forgiveness from the Author Lords. By your Light we Read! All Hail the Author Lords!!
Ok, maybe more like a Comedy Club… ?
Joyce says
The above pretty well says what needed to be said. I will admit that I really did not like Kate all that much when I started reading the KD books. She was so harsh and I really could not understand how anyone liked her or were her friends, but now I know that she really did NOT have any friends. She gradually grew on me through the series and I am glad that this is her HEA. We all need a HEA.
Am glad to hear that Innkeeper will continue and Hidden Legacy needs more books. Those series are my favorite. But, rest and relax for a bit, you both have earned it, in spades. Hugs
Anne M says
George needs a book….
Klaus does, too.
And just what have Dina’s parents been up to?
Jacky Bjorkstrand says
I agree that i will be beyond sad when the last book comes out… Up until the KD series, I was a fantasy reader only. The series was a suggestion through Kindle which I bought on a whim. Definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made! Your books opened a whole genre for me to read and as an avid reader who goes through books way to quickly, i am so thankful!! I’m embarrassed to say how many times I’ve re-read your books, but lets just say you’ve given me many hours of enjoyment, laughs, laughs, and tears.
I just finished another re-read of the Legacy series and the Inn Keepers series. I’ll put my patience pants on and wait for whatever you put out there for us to read!!
Thanks for everything you guys do! It’s an amazing gift you have and I wish more authors had it!
Alison says
I know anything you guys write will be amazing! I will miss Kate – but I can always re-read the books and I hope you do write about other characters in her world. Also YES to more Hidden Legacies!
Ali says
I enjoy everything you write, you are wonderful writers. Before the internet you had to go to a bookstore to find out an author put out a new book, now we get author sites and it’s a pleasure to know anything in advance and occasionally get snippets or even serialized books online. Suck it up people! Be nice to the wonderful Authors! Thank you. Always looking forward to whatever you share and publish.
Laura says
I love absolutely everything that you guys write and I will happily read it whenever it’s available and in whatever format works best for you. Of course I am sad when I learn that I may not get to read more about some of my favorite characters or worlds, but I understand that, at some point, the story has to end. I hope that the end of one storyline means that I just get to look forward to the beginning of the next one, whatever it may be.
virginia says
Of all your series it was The Edge characters and world I most enjoyed and was delighted when they spilled into Innkeeper, also a riot for the imagination and a reflection of the Authors’ brilliance.
The world surrounding KD is what we all really love and if novellas and, especially a Hugh book are forthcoming, the craving will be realised!
George Gunshefski says
I disagree, Kate and Curran have not earned their HEA. My wife and I want to see them get old. We will all GLADLY buy the next 10 book series that has them as peripheral characters…Just Sayin’. Question, is that world and characters owned by the publishers?…Would you guys owe royalties, if you were continue novels in Kate Daniels world? If you said there would be ten more books, I would pre order all ten now with no guarantee they will all be written.
Annette says
I perked up at the mention of hidden legacy – I really hope that gets continued because I’m so hooked on that series. Innkeeper too. Still inching along Kate Daniels, as they’re all like carbs. I need time to digest each. You guys should start every social media/email/posts with “Magic Triumphs is the last Kate Daniels book” right at the top. No one can miss it. Just kidding, lol. 😉
Cindy M. says
One of the many benefits of having discovered your books is that I could stop stalking Jim Butcher’s website for news of the next Dresden book.
Marna says
I wish he would just admit that he doesn’t have anything more to write & stop dangling “Peace Talks” in front of our faces. The fact that he has put out numerous graphic novels, novels in other series, plus short stories makes that whole “no place to write” excuse a bit insulting to his readers.
Harkker says
I think it was the divorce from his wife that did the series in. She is a writer in her own right and I suspect that she helped him in a way that his new younger wife can’t.
Cindy M. says
It’s always sad to hear about the break up of a family.
Jane says
Yes, I have given up on Butcher. I loved that series but the interest is waning.
Allan Pinero says
I like multiple series, Right now after the jim butcher stalking , I went to Patricia Briggs which led me to Magic Bites.
I was surprised she didn’t mention Patrick Rothfuss on his kingslayer series as his book three is as elusive as nixon’s water gate papers.
I am glad she is considering her health. I really dont want anyone series end up like The Wheel of Time. It was tragic for both fans and readers. His son did his best to complete, but it is really difficult to see where he was going in the end.
Now I have been stalking Kurtherian Gambit (Michael Anderle)(space marines **Cough** Ilona **COUGH**) and SPI files (Lisa Shearin). They have been holding me over till next book of series I stalk.
Claudia says
Same problem here: I just don’t get it. He wrote books in a totally reliable manner. And now? I understand that a serious change in personal circumstances (divorce e.g.) may change priorities and interests. But I always hope he finds back to old form…
Betty odom says
I hate to see the end I want to know the kids get their HEA and friends . As long as u can do it keep it up. I can’t be the only reader that feels this way.
Miriam says
A delay means more time to anticipate. It means more time to reread the previous books. It means this book will be of the same high quality (or better, if that’s even possible) then the ones that preceded it.
I hope the PR isn’t going to be on a crazy schedule. Your schedule should be paced so that you can enjoy yourselves/the publicity tour or whatever (even though you don’t want to be away from your new home, or the girls, any longer than necessary). You should be able to bask in your accomplishments so far, and in the adoration of your many, many, fans. You should not be worn to the bone scrambling to get from one appearance to another. I almost said legion of fans, but you know that comments would have been made about using the term legion…
Thank you again for all the hours of enjoyment your books have given me, and continue to give me!
Alisa, near Seattle says
Ditto
Rue says
Is Roman getting a short story? I feel like he deserves one…
Istyatur says
Or his own set of novels… i think he could do a trilogy at least. ( he might be my favorite secondary character. )
Alisa, near Seattle says
I love Roman too!
Bethann says
I vote for a 10 to 12 book Hidden Legavy series with or without Avon publishing!
Regina says
Ditto!
Mary Cruickshank-Peed says
Count me in on this one!
Fera says
All hail House Baylor! House Baylor! House Baylor! XDD
Alisa, near Seattle says
That’s a suggestion I would wholeheartedly back!
Lynnd says
Yes please!
Bell says
Me too! I LOVE this series! Been waiting and hoping for the forth book!
Bev Hill says
I vote for this, too. Emphatically! I LOVE these books! This world is as fascinating as the Magic world and there are so many unanswered questions at this point. PLEASE continue this series. PLEASE.
hessah says
yessssssss please tell us there’s more!
Jane says
I have known it was the last book, so even though I hate to see it end, I knew the day would come. But, I would like to know if it is possible for a few short stories down the line about Kate, Curran and the baby or babies. I would love to read about parenting conflicts between those two. I think it would be hysterical.
Cate Hutchinson says
I’m sad ? to know that this the last we’ll hear from Curran and Kate, but I do hope you can weave them into novels on some of the other characters.
As for your other series I can’t wait for more from Wildfire and Peacekeeper- hanging on Maude’s story badly!!
But mst of all, keep, bringing us your magic one way or another, and I’ll content myself, with re-reading until then 😉
Bea says
Yesss…I LOVE you guys!!!
Kay says
You know it’s bad when I puzzle over the meaning of HEA. (!) I’m sad that Kate and Curran won’t have more books, but in many ways I feel that their arc is pretty darn full and I’m betting it will feel complete once the final book is out.
Please still give us glimpses of them in the other books … I’m dying to know how they survive having teenagers (more kids in the future, perhaps?)!!
Bottom line: we are guests in worlds you build … and you guys know what feels right and when it’s time to pull back. One constant – I will wait for your next book and voraciously consume it when it arrives.
VW says
I’d love to see Hidden Legacy branch out into mystery fantasy vs romance focus ( though I loved it). Are there other monsters like Arabella hiding under the radar that might make contact in desperation or be stumbled upon and I just love Nevada’s cousins and sisters.
Brooke says
Thank you, Ilona and Gordon, for creating several amazing worlds and a cast of unforgettable characters over the past 10 years. Despite the craziness of family, illness, multiple moves, various critters, and everything and anything else that you tackled, you gave us multiple reasons each year to cheer, laugh, cry, and celebrate with your characters. Congrats on getting the final KD book through its process.
PamR says
I’m looking forward to the next Kate and Curran book. Wow, that ten years just blew by, and I enjoyed every book – haunted bookstores for the paperbacks for the first few years, and occasionally swooned to find one out on the shelf a day or two early. Now I enjoy pre-ordering the Kindle version, but I still have all of my old paperbacks.
You guys are awesome, and I’m tickled that self-publishing is now a route you may take. I personally loved, loved, loved your Alpha book and the Edge series and read all of the books so many times, yet I remember you wrote that it was hard to market. It was fascinating, the idea that you could turn off a main road and end up in a place like the Edge.
Thanks for the update, looking forward to the next book.
Damietta Armstrong says
Dear Gordon and Ilona
On behalf of your many adoring (coff.greedy.coff) and devoted (coff.obsessed.coff) fans (coff.psychotic stalkers.coff)…of which I am one….I would like to offer my sincere apologies for our collective bad manners.
Our mammas raised us better; but sometimes, we forget and let our adoration and devotion (see translation above) get the better of us.
Come ON people!! KATE IS HAVING A BABY!!
Is she really supposed to go running all over Atlanta, fighting THINGS with a sword, WEARING A BABY IN A BACKPACK?!?
If she did, her father wouldn’t have to declare war to steal the baby, he could just take her to court and whatever serves as Child Protection Services would just hand him over!
Honestly people, USE YOUR HEADS FOR SOMETHING BESIDES A HATRACK!
Now. If you behave, you might get some really fun short-stories in a couple of years…..
…Boy’s first day of school…Kate dragging Curran off the school grounds by his tail… “No, you may not volunteer as playground monitor!”
…K & C go out to dinner leaving kids with babysitter….return to find lots of flashing lights and sirens…babysitter was a certain Kodiak, now cringing as Martha roars “No more honey muffins for you!”
…a glimpse into Derek’s nightmares as he tries to keep his wife from leading her baby brother into ways of wicked good fun.
…Hugh trying to fit into normal life…laundromats…hee hee hee
…Roman’s face when he realizes that his family are going to LOVE his new girlfriend
Not to mention all sorts of people we haven’t even MET yet!
Really people, all the possible goodies that are out there, and you want more of the same? Give Kate and Curran some time and privacy to grow all of their well-earned gray hairs.
And give our beloved Author Lord’s a little credit.
Kim says
Just going to put it out there – moar Derek/Julie, please!
Kimberly Pollock says
Have you guys thought about a story from Romans POV? I was just re-reading Magic Slays and Gunmetal Magic and remembered how much I love his character and that he is overdue for love. Anyway just thought I’d throw the question out into the universe. I love your books so much and just can’t get enough.
Nudvik says
I really hope there aren’t issues with your publisher about Hidden Legacy. I understand that it’s something you can’t really talk about, but I noticed that the second book seemed to be very substantial delayed despite being seemingly finished?
I haven’t got a clue about the details of publishing a book, but it seems to me that if your publisher is messing you (and your readers) around, then you should consider self-publishing all your series. How financially viable that is, I have no idea, but if the publisher is the reason why books are being delayed or such then I would hope you can find a better option that doesn’t hurt your wallet.
You (and Andrew) are my favourite Urban Fantasy author(s), easily. Both Kate Daniels and especially Hidden Legacy have such fantastic world-building, along with basically everything else you need to craft a great novel. Both KD and HL are the kinds of series that I can (and have) easily read again if I feel the urge.
Awesome work!
Shanelle says
Hi Ilona and Gordon
I’m not quite sure you actually read these so it’s likely I’m speaking in to the vacuum, and I know this is an out of the blue comment but…I really liked the short novella Alphas in that anthology Angels of Darkness and I really hoped you’d build on that. I think I read somewhere that you weren’t interested in the concept all that much but it’s stuck with me years after I read it and I have always had an ember of hope you’d fiddle with it and build something out of that. Also, I think we’d all really like more Julie and Derek. Maybe some crazy alpha wolf action, too. Regardless, like many have already told you, you’re perhaps my favorite author (although I do loooove Patricia Briggs as well). Whatever you put out, I will gobble up.
Sincerely,
Your Faithful Reader Til The End
Shanelle says
OH! And Grace of Small Magics! I knew I had forgotten something. I really liked those two novellas and they stuck with me.
Mary says
If the Innkeeper goes on forever I will be happy. My favorite!
Dichroic says
Endings are sad, but better that than keeping on until the series jumps the shark and gets ridiculous.
I do think Terry Pratchett’s solution was perfect: one world, multiple intersecting series within in. If you ever see fit to write more Derek, Julie or Derek/Julie, I’d love to see that …. whenever it fits with your time and plans.
Libb says
Hugh’s book BEFORE Magic Triumphs? You know I love you guys, right??
Jasmine Stairs says
Hi! I just wanted to say that I really really liked the Hidden Legacy books and I fully support talks with Avon to continue the series. Or whatever Avon talks need to happen. Really like those.
I mean, I also really liked the Edge Chronicles, and Inkeeper, and Kate Daniels of course, but edge is finished and KD is finishing, so I just wanted to register my “yay! Hidden Legacy!” cheer.
