Sgt Schultz, I meant
Gordon says
I knew what you meant. Sometimes I think it very odd that a lot of GenXers grew up watching such an odd situation comedy. Like, if someone didn’t know about Hogan’s Heroes and I explained the plot, they would think I was lying or crazy.
John says
Just because you’re telling the truth, that doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t crazy.
Just saying…
And congrats on the items in the picture. It looks like you acquired a very nice gauntlet. Not a bad sword either. The coins, goblet and crown make for an excellent little hoard. I am not qualified to assess the quality of the scroll, although based on the calligraphy and spelling, if it was sold to you as medieval, I think you were probably duped into buying a fake…
Asabí says
LOL! So true. It’s really bizarre and it was on forever.
sarafina says
Ah yes, great American TV. Hogan, Gilligan, Mr. Ed, the Martian, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies.
Ann Woodin says
We were on sabbatical in Berlin late 90’s. The kids would watch reruns of Hogan’s Heroes on German TV. It was surreal
Chris says
If I had to describe it: “An international group of WWII POWs remain in a German camp run by incompetent staff in order to spy & assist others to escape. Comedy, 30 minutes.”
Knowing nothing else , I’d give it a shot. (:
John says
Wasn’t Catch-22 the book where one of the Allied pilots ditched his plane in the Med, made it into a rubber dinghy, and then paddled it all the way around the European coastline to Sweden so he could be interned?
Actually, one of my Dad’s distant cousins was in bombers during the war and in about 1943 got badly hit by flak over Germany. He managed to nurse his plane over Sweden before the whole crew bailed out and were captured unharmed. His family were Swedish immigrants, he could speak a bit of Swedish and still had relatives there. He and his crew had an absolutely great rest of their war. They were interned but allowed to give their parole and go make the rounds of their pilot’s relatives.
John says
Just thinking about guys voluntarily staying in POW camps…
Bev says
Hogan’s Heroes is still being aired on a station in northern Illinois. My husband catches it infrequently on an antenna. We have no cable -just off the antenna T.V. I hope your storm clean-up went well and without complications!
MariaZ says
Hogan’s Heroes and Wild, Wild West were absolutely Family Time TV on Friday evening. Even my father would sit and watch with us and he never did that. Us kids would make Bundt Cake and eat cake and potato chips while watching. The only time my parents allowed us “junk food”. Good Times. Good Memories. Brings a tears to the eye.
Virginia says
I enjoyed Hogan’s Heroes as a kid and still use that Sgt Schultz quote. My father, who fought in WWII (Pacific theater) was offended by it, though.
Fun fact: all four of the main German army characters (Sgt. Klink, Col. Schultz, two others) were played by Jews, some or all of whom (and families) had fled the Nazis. I bet they had fun making those characters thoroughly ridiculous!
Susan Caney says
I was thinking that very thing! My father would be quiet watching the show and told me once I’d grown up that he “never could really laugh” at that program. (He ran away at 17 and joined the Army at the start of WWII and said it took him about 2 weeks to realize what a bad idea it was to go to war.)
W. Seybold says
true, my dad was a pilot during WW11, he never talked about it.
Moose Breath says
Oops, that should be Col. Klink and Sgt. Schultz.
Also the French prisoner, except he had been interred in a concentration camp narrowly escaping death. He later said that he had to go off and cry after each day’s filming, and if they had had a tunnel to sneak out, nothing would have been able to convince them to go back in.
That possibly made him the best actor of the show.
Moose

Hi Mod R/House Andrews,
I don´t know if you´ve seen this, but Elisabeth Wheatly just dropped a look at Social Privilege vs. Social Responsibility in Burn for Me and I really enjoyed it.

Cally says
Thanks for sharing! I’m looking forward to checking this video out.
Whitney says
Thanks for sharing! That was a great video! Tons of detailed observations and interesting observations. I haven’t put a huge amount of time into thinking about exactly why I love House Andrews’ books (I just accept that I do! <3 ). but I feel like this video captures some of what I love in the depth and layers of story telling and characters in these books.
jewelwing says
Seconded. Nice analysis.
Ray says
+1. Nice analysis.

out of curiosity- you, Beth, are not referring to yourself, Elisabeth, in the 3rd person by any chance 😉

Breann says
Congrats on the contract! I’m guess-timating (yes, I feel like that should be a legitimate word) it’s for Maggie, but I’m happy for whatever you give us! And I feel like you should have inserted an evil laugh at the end of that non announcement. 😄

1. Space Opera 2. Cozy British murder mystery 3.Time Travel romance 4.Disney-esque fairytales 5. Silent film scripts – My top 5 hopes / guesses
Moderator R says
Hi Sjilk, I’m not sure what this comment means 🙂 . Is this the comment section you wanted to be in?
Kimberly H. says
Mod R:
I think they were stating their guesses/ hopes for the material associated with the contract signed:)
Moderator R says
I thought they might be it, but the silent movie script threw me.
Sjik says
Hi Mod R, Kimberly got it – I was just throwing out what I thought the contract could be about – these just happen to be the last few categories that I’ve been reading lately. As to the silent film scripts – I really wanted to read some good comedy – I realize I haven’t really read comedy as a genre. And House IA write some of my favorite action scenes, so I can imagine them doing like a no-dialogue play / script and making it work.
AJ says
Sjik – I think they’ve done 1 and 3 and number 5 is hilarious- I’m going to suggest innkeeper in the cozy British mystery category- just change the accents lol
Sjik says
hehehehehe – I accept the Innkeeper sub-in as cozy British murder mystery, but what are you calling Time travel romance? Edge maybe? or Erra’s story in KD? In my head, I was hoping for Time Traveler’s Wife or The Lake House (if it were letters in time) type of something. Dunno if that makes sense.
Diane Mc. says
Congrats for the contract and we’ll find out details whenever you you let us know!
Cec says
Yes! Congratulations! Looking forward to it 😊
Sabrina says
Congrats! I hope you are having a party to celebrate!
Valerie in CA says
I got two teeth pulled today.

Hope your recovery is comfortable and uneventful Valerie.

Just a little something to make you smile; “I hope it wasn’t your eye teeth!, then you wouldn’t be able to read!”
😋hope you feel better.
Sandhya Rao says
Woo Hoo!!! Congratulations!!! I’m so ready for anything you guys write 😊. Although, thank you for the quick clarification that’s its books and not TV or film, coz for a second there I started dreaming things I shouldn’t, LOL!
Kate Rose says
Posts like this are exactly why the BDH is so rabid. Congrats!
Liz.v says
O.O
*vibrates in excitement*
I’m guessing a Maggie-verse book deal. Regardless, WOOOHOO!! More books!!
sarafina says
Today they delivered my Arcane Society Hugh and Julie books! So Beautiful!! One corner of the box looked waterlogged but since the books are individually shrink-wrapped, slid into a fine mess bag then enclosed in a pouch made of bubble warp they are untouched. SO WONDERFUL!!
Nice another contract got signed, too. I hope for Hugh 2.
Tink says
Ooh, I’ll have to check my tracking email. They generated it on April 26th or 29th but nothing’s been happening. Hopefully I’ll get it soon.
Christinaregina says
My package has been “in transit” for two weeks so I emailed them today to see if that was an error.
Received a quick response letting me know they should be shipping soon. 😃

I don’t know if you know about this, but Elizabeth Wheatley did a really good analysis on why Burn For Me is great.
Just thought you’d like to know.
jewelwing says
Someone posted the link above; it really is worth watching.
jewelwing says
I like the picture, which is making me think Maggie. Not that it matters. Hugh would be just as welcome. Take my money! That is all.
Laura Martinez says
Yay!!!!!

Hope you’re feeling better post surgery Ilona. No matter how minor, surgery takes time to get over. I don’t know what’s worse, the actual surgery or the anesthesia.
Would it be safe to say that an announcement re the non-announcement will be forthcoming within the next 6 months😁?
Patricia Schlorke says
Congratulations on the book contract. 👏👏👏👏👏🎉
No speculation on my part. However, my fellow Horde will most likely do all the speculation. 😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

CONGRATULATIONS! I won’t say more as it would be all speculation, but I hope you got everything you wanted in that contract and can celebrate being the awesome authors that we all know you to be.
I will now *patiently* wait for more good news.
ps I got my arcane editions today and you guys are making some awesome partner decisions. Between these and graphic audio I am feeling positively spoiled. I love that they found you or you found them and everything has worked out.
Vianne says
I love hearing that! Thinking Maggie!
MaryF says
What that picture says to me is that whatever booty the contract conferred was probably hard fought.
Kelly says
Congratulations. Just give us a heads up when the preorder button is available.
Omar Mtz says
aaaaaaHhhhhh
Wendy says
Yay!!! Congrats!!!
Donna A says
Imagine our little horde faces if this book contract turned out to be for A Biological Field Guide to Texas Scorpions, Their Habitats and Behaviours!
(Surely must be enough material for it)😁
Patricia Schlorke says
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is hilarious!
Deborah says
Hah! Don’t be ridiculous! We, the Horde, would still be stampeding to hit the pre-order button. It’s a book! By House Andrews. Therefore it will be readable in the absolute best way, no matter what the subject matter. And BDH will be demanding merch! ALL the merch! Scorpion pillows and backscratchers and bags, oh my! That would be so awesome!
Jaer says
I take your statement that you will state no more and willfully dash it to the side as I begin to analyze the above image with all the skills my *cough* twenty plus years as a television crime drama watching aficionado has gifted me.
1. Burnt edge scroll with obviously coded message that has me stumped as to the cryptographical solution…oh, you are clever with your hidden code, but I am not dissuaded.
2. Worn and poorly cleaned mesh leaning to a medievalesque world build. Of course, had the mesh been carefully cleaned and cared for it would obviously mean this was a BDSM fantasy of dubious time frame. Perhaps the time period is what your obviously coded message scroll has hidden from me.
3. Sword held by an empty gauntlet…clearly this is a ghost story with paranormal aspects.
4. Dubious mixed coinage of an undetermined provenance spilling from an overturned goblet of intricate and delicate craftsmanship…ah hah! To a lesser mind one would think this blood money paid to an assassin, but the variety of the coins and quality of goblet are clearly the marks of a well-to-do merchant.
5. A blood red rose its petals neither plucked nor shriveled and decaying …once again you have tried to stump me with your coded meanings clearly wanting me to assume that the rose is being used as the universal symbol of love, romance and beauty…but I am not fooled! Red roses can also mean martyrdom or sacrifice. A character is sacrificing themselves…most like for family, a common theme in your various works.
6. A candlestick with melted stumps…oh, you are being a bit obvious here. Clearly this reference’s Disney’s Lumiere…only your candlestick has 3 appendages. A blatant clue telling me this Lumiere is a shapeshifter with a tail.
7 And last we have the jeweled crown…the image is difficult to size properly due to half of it being cut off, but it looks tiny…like something an enchanted prince would wear in childhood before being afflicted with a shapeshifting curse…
Hahahh! I have deciphered your cryptic message, except for the burnt scroll code, you foiled me there, but I have preserved with the rest of your images, and I can now declare with perfect ridiculousness what this new contracted series of books are about! This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast with ghosts, shapeshifters and no BDSM…so clearly the series will not be having Hugh in it.
Jaer says
*persevered not preserved in that final paragraph. No matter how many times you proof read something…
John says
Except the mail (which looks like it might be a mail bikini equally (un)suitable for any gender) could simply not have been cleaned yet after a vigorous bout in the “dungeon”, so BDSM cannot be completely ruled out…
Otherwise, an awe-inspiring analysis, fully worthy of a Sicilian when death is on the table…
Donna A says
I believe I can help further – the chainmail is indeed a bikini, the coins are obviously a British tuppence, the blade is Excalibur and the note’s hidden meaning is a reference to a “wink, wink, nudge, nudge” BDSM contract with a vow of silence.
Therefore it is a sexy times sequel to Beauty and the Beast set in England, involving the ghost of King Arthur and the sadly deformed Lumiere finding love and bondage.
It’s a tale as old as time.
Ilona says
Why me…
😉
Jean says
Hello, Kate!! 😆
Sara B. says
“Why me?” … Because we are your horde and you love us, … most of the time …
🤣🤣🤣

Hi Denee,
Whilst I cannot confirm what the announcement is about, the Hidden Legacy series has finished (for now). A sequel may happen sometime in the future, but it is not guaranteed.

Congratulations. I still think Clean Sweep or White Hot would make great movies.
Speaking of movies, thank you for the tip for the Viki app movie Blossoms in Adversity.
I have a new favorite movie. The emphasis on family, the chemistry between male lead and female lead, and how they take care of each other reminds me of my favorite author team ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
PamG says
Are we happy?
Kay says
My guess is that Maggie found a home since you guys were looking for a publisher for that series and this picture looks like its in a traditional fantasy world.
JeNoelle says
A Arabella book, hoping!!!
Maria R. says
I’m confusing myself as to excited clapping for not an announcement or excited almost clapping because it’s not yet announced. Either way I and lots of readers are pleased, nay I’ll go back to excited about this post.
I’m hoping HA is recovering from weather related issues and healing.

Kim says
Can’t wait, I’ve been patiently not asking! Congratulations 🍾🎉🍾
Lisa says
I remember reading an explanation post here on self publishing and going through a publisher but I can’t find it so I’m not sure if this question has been answered but if you have plans for x amount of books in a series already, then does that mean you already have someone or the means/funds to publish that series?
What I really want to ask is, if Aurelia Ryder is set to be a trilogy, it’s already in the works and doesn’t need a contract from a publisher, right?
Moderator R says
Aurelia Ryder series is self-published and will continue to remain so 🙂.
From today’s post: “ What is going to happen to Innkeeper, Hugh, Aurelia, etc? These are all self-published. They are not affected by this contract” https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/some-answers/
Sechat says
All I can do is laugh! This is how you bait the Horde!!!!!!

Sue Gundel says
Yay! 🙂
Wendy says
Congratulations! I love when good things happen to good people. I hope you’re going to end up with lots of treasure, no one deserves it more.
PS: As for the lack of official announcement, I can’t help but wonder if one of you woke up in the mood to torment the BDH a little, you know the suspense is killing us. We need a meme that shows a group of the BDH shuffling around like zombies and muttering, “What is this “patience” thing you speak of? Me not know that word!” 😄
Judith Stanton says
This is hilarious!!
Mary Beth says
Congrats!
Joann K says
*tosses multicolored edible confetti while dancing with joy*

Oooh! Maybe the rose (Derek/Darren’s) and gauntlet (blood armor) refer to Julie/Aurelia! I just re-listened to all the Kate books and am now re-listening to Blood Heir! Fingers crossed but anything you write is amazing so can’t go wrong!
Mary says
Congratulations!11 I’m so excited for you. And for the BDH!
Judith Stanton says
Hurray! Another winner forthcoming from House Andrews!
Carrie B says
*One raised eyebrow*
Hmm.
Hrrmmmm.
Because it’s a contract and not Indie, I’m gonna guess Arabella’s trilogy.
Either way, CONGRATS!!!

This is so unfair to leave us hanging like this! LOL
Kelly says
Congratulations! I am so excited. I just hope its for multiple books. 🙂

Congrats House Andrews!! I look forward to reading this book, after waiting patiently for the publisher to go through its excruciatingly long process! 😉
And, can I just congratulate the BDH for how weird our speculation gets when given hints by HA… Beauty and the Beast, King Arthurs’s ghost and shape shifter BDSM?! New levels reached right there!
Rachel Christiansen says
Sweet!
KC says
MMM I wonder if it’s the new project.
Rebekka says
Amazing, congrats!
I love the addition under the E-Mail. Somehow, I immediatley went there. But to be honest, even better. We are BDH, we want all the books 😀

Damietta says
Oh.
well, good. Worried that y’all might a sold your soul for an in-house editor/proofreader who was willing to work for autographed ARC’s
Blynn says
Then it’s my sincerest pleasure to extend not a congratulations.
I’m also very relieved that I won’t have to watch Hollywood bastardize a much beloved series by casting some very attractive but acting challenged actors and editing out the best scenes. Phew!
Any book yall want to write will be a book I want to read. Sounds like a new series 👍
