Hi everyone, Mod R here. Happy World Mental Health Day!

If I’m honest, the best thing for my personal mental health at the moment is to evade into fictional worlds, which got me thinking – which IA universe would suit me the best? So I made a quiz that would tell us!

      • +1 If I get some free time later, I may try to figure out the clinical term for a phobia of giant ooze scorpions. I know Centuroides is the main venomous genus in US scorpions, but Hadrurus are more impressive. And they fluoresce. So it will take some thought. We may need to generate a new genus.

        • Centruroides scorpions still flouresce. All scorpions do, unless they’ve just molted. They will flouresce again after they’ve aged a little bit after molting.

  3. MOD R – this is soooooo fun – I love varying my answers to get at all possible solutions, and to stay fair my first attempt is my actual answer – Hidden Legacy. I get it, while I would love to be dumped in KD, I really wouldn’t go anywhere fast if in there. You are hilarious.

    • Me too! Kate is my precious, but Hidden Legacy is where I would live. You could reason with some Primes

  5. So interesting that I would be happy in the world of Hidden Legacy, since I already live in Houston. I really enjoyed identifying the places in the books. And the near places… Hotel Sha Sha 🙂

    And yep.. that’s about right. A little bit of fantasy, but not too much. Why would I want to live in the world of Kate? That’s a one way ticket to violent death if you’re not careful.

    Innkeeper wouldn’t be bad though honestly. Who’s to say we aren’t already living in that universe 😉

    • Like at the end of The Men in Black where our galaxy is in a marble a bunch of aliens are playing with?

  15. I got placed in the InnKeeper verse. I am totally OK with that. I would love to eat a meal cooked by Orro and have tea with Caldenia, lol.

    But if I could just choose, I’d like to live in a magic inn. Right now, it is because I assume that Gertrude Hunt just quietly absorbs cat hair, dog hair, dust, and tracked in detritus.

    I can hang out with the Baylor and Rogan families for a week. Then go to Gertrude Hunt to hang out with Dina, Sean, Her Grace, Orro, and anyone else who comes to the Inn. Oh what fun! 🥰🍽

  20. That last question was tricksy. Could’ve gone two ways. I haven’t ACTUALLY tried feeding them to an ooze yet… though now it’s on my list of to-dos. Which is full and why I don’t have time to stress

  25. Must be a world I haven’t read because I don’t know where I am. Lol. But, I argued with a chicken and lost so clearly need more caffeine. Hahaha

      • I was going to ask if you see the numbers of what comes up. Can you let us know in a couple of days how many people ended up in each world? I see a lot of fellow Hidden Legacy-ers in the comments, but I’m curious how many ended up where.

    • I got the Edge on my first “ natural “ result.
      Which works for me … the 4 edge books are probably my favorite (gun to head and FORCED to choose (a favorite child) …

  27. Hidden Legacy which is what I wanted but I had to answer the house question with having a moat. I thought that would knock me into Kate’s world. I was telling my sisters a few weeks ago that I want a moat to keep people from knocking on my door all the time.

    • But really, who doesn’t want a moat? It’s both a statement and a fortification, with the added bonus of being a water feature.

      • I can’t think of the author’s name off the top of my head, but a character in one of her series is restoring a castle with a moat around it. She bought an inflatable swan so she could float around the moat in the summer.

        Now I kind of want to see Hugh floating around on his moat on an inflatable unicorn with a fruity drink in his hand.

        • With Curran looking on being jealous over the moat. Then Curran taking mental measurements of Hugh’s moat and comparing them to the moat he wants to make in Wilmington. 😀

      • No moat for me.
        Mosquito breeding ground. I’m far enough into the American South that reptiles are a concern. I don’t want alligators, snakes and other evil creatures wanting to be my neighbors.

        And unless they’re part of some moving watercourse, they smell bad!

        • We have a local winery (was originally called Eagle Castle) that has the facade of a castle with a moat. The moat has some large koi, and they got the permit for it by saying the water was also for fire suppression. It is in Paso Robles, California.

    Now I just need to think about my magic . . . which would probably be something ridiculously mundane. Practical, but not sexy.

  30. Well, evidently I belong in Red Deer, TX, though there were a couple of questions that no answer related to anything I’d choose. I got as close as I could.
    (I am currently camping out in a mostly unfurnished house, waiting for the movers.
    My Halloween costume will, as always be “Mrs Claus goes to the Ren Faire”. The bodice even has poinsettia flowers on it.
    And I care about the garden, even if I don’t want to impress the neighbors…)

    But, all in all, I’m okay with it. It’s just for fun, right.
    Right?…

  34. Hidden Legacy. the bulk of responses so far seem to land there. I tried again and changed a few answers I was waivering on. It didn’t change the outcome.

    • There are 9 questions and 4 results, a quick calculation reveals that 3 answers of the same world is enough to give you that result 🙂

  40. I got Hidden Legacy. Not surprised, although I would also not have been surprised by Innkeeper, or even Kinsman.

    Interestingly I tried a second time, with a strong anti-fantasy bent, and somehow got Kate Daniels with that one, which doesn’t make too much sense.

    And you can keep your giant ooze scorpions, thank you.

  47. hidden legacy. though for the Halloween question, I am going to a Halloween wedding this year (true story, costumes required) and my defiant self is dressing up as Spring. “I don’t celebrate Halloween” seemed to be most in the spirit of the answer.

  51. I don’t dress up for Halloween but I do give out lots of candy to my neighborhood trick or treaters. I love the costumes from the toddlers to the very large teens! I came out with Kate Daniels world which is fine by me! Soon I need to do Autumn stuff like boil the spring crop of black raspberries I froze with sugar, red raspberries and brandy and sieve it out to make raspberry puree. You end up with about half the volume you started with. I wonder if I could make a raspberry curd with it? I’ve never tried to make any kind of curd before. Anybody know how?

  59. Took the quiz, LOL. The only niggling question I have is what exactly ‘dishonors’ a cow? Though now I come to think about it, that isn’t a question I’d really like the answer to as all sorts of “eew/ick/ugh” stuff is likely involved…..:)

  86. I think I’m at Gertrude Hunt. A Dark eerie Inn. I remember Sean calling it a monstrosity. I never thought of it that way. Red Deer seems like a normal Heart of Texas suburb. Some houses are large and are gated others are open. I have lived in a couple of places like that. I would enjoy being friendly with a neighbor who had portals to everywhere.

  108. WOO HOO! Innkeeper Series. And the truth is it is the series that lately with all the stress I’ve been under is soothing like a bowl of Mom’s potato soup eaten while watching Hatari, wrapped up in a sherpa blanket. The good guys win and the idiots get sent to Kolinda. Works for me.

  136. Fun! I was sorted to the Hidden Legacy AI world. Which is interesting because it’s my least favorite is IA universes. I may go back another time and see if I can find my way to the Innkeeper universe.

  137. For a laugh: was taking this quiz soon after I woke up. Got to one question and I was all “what’s wrong with tortoises?”
    Yeah re-read and was all ‘oh! tourists, makes way more sense.’
    For the record, I would prefer tortoises.

    HL on the first go-round, then Innkeeper after I flipped a few answers I was torn about the first time. Some choices were easy though: I’m always craving comfort food, for one. While I definitely like more adventurous foods, I don’t crave them.

    Sounds about right: While I would love to take a vaycay to Kate & Curran’s verse, I would be a statistic pretty rapidly if I had to survive out there, unless I had the great good luck to be protected by a Major Power due to my knitting and research skills.

  173. This was the giggle I needed. First Innkeeper, second Hidden Legacy. Which is kind of funny, as I’m most drawn to Magic Atlanta (and other environs). Hidden Legacy used to remind me of my family politics, but then a bunch of people died, and it turns our the rest of us pretty much get along or can at least ignore each other without drama. Come to think of it, that fits the theme too…

I love innkeeper, and the thought of exploring galaxies is tempting, but sadly I’m not Maud. no skills, and not enough patience to mind the guests. the edge and the provinces are beautiful but I’m not Ramona and I have Jack’s interest in fancy gatherings

  208. This is 100% spot on. I would love to live in the Hidden Legacy world. I think that’s why they have become my emotional support books. Whenever I’m stressed, (and I am in the midst of divorce, so that’s pretty much all the time right now) I escape to the world of the Baylor’s where I can feel comforted by their silly banter between family members and their sizzling romance with partners who actually treat them with respect. Thank you for easing my stress with your lovely world.
