The other retailers (Barnes&Nobles, Booktopia, Waterstones etc) as well as the international Amazons for each country will start to populate at some time in the next week, but I knew the Horde would want to know asap to be able to order. P*tience R *not* us!

As with Magic Tides and Magic Clams, if you order through Amazon, some of the paper copies may ship in advance of publication day and you may be one of the lucky people who receive it early. Please don’t be alarmed if you get your copy early, all is well.

Roman would like nothing more than to be left alone, but when a wounded boy stumbles into his yard and begs for sanctuary, Roman takes him in. Now, elite mercenaries are camped out on his property, combat mages are dousing the house with fire, and strange priests are unleashing arcane magic. They thought Roman was easy pickings, just a hermit in the woods, but they chose the wrong dark priest to annoy. For while Roman might be patient, he is the Black Volhv, filled with the love of his terrible god. For his adversaries, it’s a fight to the death, but for him, it’s just another day in the neighborhood.

40 days until release! There is a extended excerpt here to tide you over, but whether you followed along with the serial or this will be your first time reading the novella, you’ll find many surprises inside. Including a volhvilicious epilogue and maaaaaybe a short story, but you didn’t hear that from me!

House Andrews are hard at work on merch (so much cute merch! the store will be open on release week) and there will be live Q&As and fun extras on the blog as usual. If there are any other release events or things you want to see, please let me know below in the comments.

Signed copies: Ilona Andrews is partnering with the Blue Willow indie bookstore for one of the virtual release sessions, and you will be able to order print copies with signed bookplates from them if you want to support a brick and mortar store. Will update details closer to the date.

Audio format: the audio files are going through quality checks at the moment and we are hopeful for the audio release to be on or very soon after the official pub date.

    if HA us up for it, I’d love to “see” Roman’s family doing a show of support for his book launch. A party at Dina’s? A fight? Will knitting needles come out? And what would happen if he brought a friend to said party? I love how you show family.

  6. Due to how I deal with my budget, I have three different places to check if I’ve pre-ordered something. All three of them say that I have pre-ordered Sanctuary in e-book format. This is something I recall doing as soon as I knew it was possible – and Amazon tells me that that was on my firstborn’s last birthday.

  7. Everyone else catch the “Roman’s Chronicles Book 1”? Book 1 implies there may be more books! Wheeeee!

    (Or ModR is trying to sneak that in and commit House Andrews to another Roman book, to which the Horde says, “you go, girl!”.)

  9. Yay! Somehow I forgot about the store opening. Waiting impatiently for the ebook and now for the store, too. Oh woe is me. Those 40 days just took on the patina of eternity heheheh.

  10. When I tried to DL Patricia Briggs’ latest this week, I discovered my beloved Nook HD+ is no longer supported for DLs. I am so freaking annoyed. Amazon/Kindle is usually my last resort for many reasons having to do with unfair business practices. I really don’t want to have to buy a new Nook when my old one works perfectly well except for the DLs now. Planned obsolescence is the devil’s work. SO. FREAKING. ANNOYED. With B&N. The question is, more so than with Amazon? Much thought required to figure out how to obtain Sanctuary. It will be settled by the release date though.

    • I don’t own a nook, but you may just need to update security settings for your old device. I’ve done this for an ancient kindle. Wasn’t easy to be honest. It’s still usable, but now I’ve got the nook and kindle apps on my tablet instead. Could take a look on B&N website for this issue?

    • Have you tried to factory reset the Nook you have now? Depending on how old your Nook is you might have to upgrade.

      If you have to get a new Nook, you may also want to have a Bluetooth keyboard with it. For some stupid reason, Lenovo doesn’t have the on screen keyboard with the new Nook. It’s highly annoying. It’s all talk to text. I think it’s stupid.

      • I know how to factory reset my phone; will figure out how to reset the Nook. I did take it to the store and an employee told me I will most likely have to upgrade. Talk to text would annoy the heck out of me. I really wish designers would understand that not everyone is wired alike.

    • I read on my phone as it’s always with me. sold my ebook reader few years ago. could you try the nook app on your phone and get your library again? see how you find using the phone?

      • I read occasional articles on my phone, but my 64yo eyes don’t want to read whole books on it. Thank you for the suggestion though; much appreciated!

    • I mentioned the Book 1 above to which ModR said “no comment”. After posting, though, I remembered that the Julie/Derek novella from years ago (Magic Stars) had “Grey Wolf Book 1” or something like that on the cover and HA later decided not to do another book. I think it could now count as a prelude to the Ryder series, but it’s not marked that way on the website.

      That said, fingers crossed that there will be more Roman’s Chronicles.

    • Mod R you are definitely evil enough. To quote Roman “I’m not evil, but I’m loved by evil things.” Or is it evil beings. After the Kate and Curran series re-read, the quotes tend to blur after awhile. 😊

  15. You mentioned about receiving paper copies early. How do I receive the Kindle book early!? 😛

    • They have the books before release date and sometimes they will send them before the release date. I have received books two days before release date.

  20. I already pre-ordered the Kindle, but I’m having problems with the paperback. It’s only giving me a pre-order button instead of add to cart. I’ll try it again tomorrow.

      • I know, but it still didn’t add it to the cart when I clicked it. It threw me off when clicking the button did nothing; I thought I was misremembering normal behavior.

  23. The Newsletter sign-up link at the store site seems broken. I clicked on it and got a ‘That’s odd. This page appears to be missing.’ message. I know you can sign-up here instead, but thought you’d want to know.

  24. I now order the Kindle version immediately and leave the print version for closer to release so I still have something to order again. That way I am not too disappointed that I have already ordered an cannot order again.

    Yes, you aren’t alone, I ordered immediately after the first preorder post went up and attempted to preorder again every time the Sanctuary was mentioned.

    I kind of broke GA site, because neither I or their support know how did I managed to order two identical copies of Magic Rises on my account. On preorder. I am proud of my achievement 🙂

  27. OMG, I panicked for a minute and raced to Amazon only to find I had already preordered. Whew! Can’t wait to read this! And it’s released the day I return from a 3 week road trip, so it will be lovely to hunker down with this while I relax from my trip!

  40. okay, hot tip for anyone whose library has over 100 books with Sanctuary in the title and over 100 Ilona Andrews ebooks+audio books.

    do a search using ‘Roman’s Chronicles’ and as long as there are less than 100 results you can actually do the Libby deep search and recommend the new Roman book to your library! yay!! (isbn did not work for me, but this did!)

  43. It is showing as available in Australia today – but I am amazed at the price Aus$31.32 I know the dollar to Aus dollar is not good but that is so expensive 🙁

    • Unfortunately, Amazon decides international prices with no control from the author or relativity to the prices in the country of origin 😕.
