HahahahahahHHAaaaaaa? but I do have to say that after the dubious experience of scaring a possum off my front step one morning (he was young & dumb, obviously a teen possum) they are weeelllll, NOT cute, kinda homely……
Lol! Ilona yours was better though.
More subtly hilarious.
Hahahhaha!!! Possums are cute, but creepy.
+1, having removed more than one from the barn, I agree, they are cute playing dead, not so cute hissing at me after I scoop them up put them over the fence.
Oooh! Not gettin’ in the middle of this!
IMHO, though – no, possums are not cute. Useful ecologically, but not cute.
The babies are totally cute. The adults, not so much, but this is true of many dog breeds as well. I’m Team Possum, but I agree that Ilona’s was better.
I love this! 🙂
WOW Friends like this, who needs.. well you know the rest…
This was such a great funny this morning thanks for the lift…

So let me get this straight, she played possum, waiting the right time for a possum prank. I guess anything is possumable.
Good one!
Lol
++++1!
Not only a possum but she looks like a smiling diabolical possum.
What a great present!
Thank you for dueling book covers!!
Engarde ??!!
So awesome!
<3
Awesome! Nothing like a great friend to right your world and keep you grounded as they help you celebrate:)
Saweeeeeet!! I am dying, just imagining the look on the faces of various Pack members. The shock, the awe, the “WTF”?!?!?!
Then I imaging Baby Conlan shifting to match his mom … and now I am ROTF.
Nicely payed, Janine!
Hahahahahahaha!
Although, I am not team possum!
Haha! She looks like a cute but deadly possum.
OMG!!! ::laughing:: Yours was better, though, but this does raise an interesting question. If Kate was a shifter, what animal would she be?? =) I seem to remember Curran guessing at something, I can’t remember what. Derek has called her a rhino for her stompy steps… What else?? =)
Swordsman so…. hummingbird! OR…. some kind of solitary cat…. wouldn’t Jim just looove that? ?
Here’s my comment on Jeaniene’s Blog: “Well, I’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop since Ilona’s post last month. Ewwwwwwwwwwww; very squishy shoe; I am so Team They ARE NOT Cute ? but it was a dish served cold – well played.
And just like in a tennis match – all eyes are on Ilona Andrews Blog – waiting for the next volley, love it!”
Oh please don’t disappoint Authorlords – this is too much fun to watch 🙂
Again congrats on the NYT & USAT Listings!
I stood up for you. Possums are pest. Ugly pest. Mean, nasty pests. But her reveng pic was pretty good. Too bad your next cover can’t show Ian’s lower extremity piercing.
They also eat ticks and do not get rabies
Wow. I think….I’m going to wash my hair. **tiptoeing off…**
At first thought it was a mouse that enjoyed the book so much they ate it up?
OK. Posted on wrong spot. Try again.
Having chased possums of all ages off my porch, Only the little ones are Cute!!!!! The adults are Ugly!!!! Seriously!!! If you want Cutesy on all ages, the raccoon is it, adults and children!!!!
True, but raccoons are also vicious when cornered, while possums just play dead.
@Jewelwing
Just my kind if Kate and Maud, gutsy and when cornered vicious in defense of their own!!
Haaahaahahaha I’m crying!!! You guys are too much. This is true friendship!
Bwahahahaha….. although she *might* have won the cute debate if she had photoshopped an Aussie sugar glider possum instead – those guys ARE cute ?
Congratulations on the NYT and USAT listings and on a successful book tour!
+1. Many CONGRATULATIONS!!
This is too funny!!?? Friends know just how to lift one’s spirits, don’t they?! I guess the ball os now in Ilona’s court. If I were Jeannie (so?), I would be looking over my shoulder every now and then, waiting for Ilona’s next move! ?
Oops! My apologies! It is Jeaniene, not Jeannie! Sorry about the misspelling.
IKR how did we get the cute possum, when everything else in ‘straya is out to kill us. Cassowary, anyone.
Actually I can see Kate as a cassowary if she was going to be an avian.
Team not cute?Ever had a giant rat with pink eyes hiss at you 6 inches from your face?(Not to mention their sharp teeth) I did meet a woman that kept one as a pet, treated it like a baby?an 18 pound baby with a rat tail 10 inches long ?
Good job! Although I think they are cute, but not in my house.
Bwahahaha!
WE don’t have Possums but we do have Raccoons. I think Raccoons are cute as long as they don’t live in my garage or get into my Green Bin. Does that count as a Yes or a No or a Maybe?
(Good to have friends)
Australian possums are cute. They look a bit like American possums post-exorcism.
It looks a bit like a chinchilla. Definitely cuter than the American possum, but the nose is a bit creepy 😉
post exorcism is right, approaching cuteness for sure.
Sooo funny from both of you! I am anti possum, although the babies are cute. Congrats again on the (fabulous) book doing so well!
It’s like watching Clooney and Pitt prank each other….only with photoshop! Well played! Well played!
In light of what the news the HOA had, you might want to reconsider possums as THEY EAT SNAKES.
That was really funny, and I laughed so hard I had tears, however…Note to self: do not check blog between passing periods (I teach high school). The students all want to know why I’m crying and then what was so funny…
Thank you for the giggle. I am so team not cute. Peace light and love. K?
Has there been some nasty side effects from the final battle and Kate has now contracted Lyc-v and turns into a possum?!
Awesome beast form ?
OMG, Clan Opossum. Imagine the Challenges!
They may not be purty but possums eat backyard ticks, so I’m team possum! ?
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
That was an awesome (though that possum looks a bit deranged) comeback to Ian’s tassels.
Possums are cute, that picture is terrifying
Possums are so not cute, lol.
Oh dear god…that is downright terrifying. I *WAS* planning on sleeping tonight. O.O
Oh, man, I needed a good laugh.
Kate’s face reminds me of the wererats in half-form!!!! Jeaniene is funny! To be fair though, you only covered Ian’s nipples. And even Ian would say that’s not his most important feature 🙂 Congratulations on the book rankings!!!!!!!
? I love this. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
OK, 1)love the red reaper
2) Opossums are flea vacuums so likeable sure, cute? no way.
3) Thank GOODNESS Kate is immune to LycV
Yikes! I can’t unseen that.
Unsee. Stupid autocorrect.
You two crack me up. I love you both.
Ilona, you are definitely wrong. Possums are freaking adorable.

I hare possums! Totally Team Not Cute. Ever found a (live) baby possum in your pool skimmer? (Totally mammal-friendly; it’s made to collect bugs.) Ugly, pointy-nosed, sharp-toothed, hissing demon from hell. We hates them!
Um, *hate, not hare.
So so bad. :)) And no, possums are not cute.
??????
Kate’s now a we’re possom! Wont Curran be surprised? Must’ve happened when she lost her ty3 to the land *wink*
When do we see an animal mage attack with a mass of possums in Hidden Legacy?
Or perhaps a summoner could summon a giant mutant possum…
haha….when two of my favorite writes go to war….we ALL win!!!
????too funny!
This is exactly what friends are for. Love it!
I leave kibbles out for the stray cats in the neighborhood and its seems all the possums, skunks, foxes, and raccoons. I must say that possums do range from the fugly to cute. None have every hissed at me.
Can’t stop laughing. Caught me completely off guard!
I love you both and I’ve tried not to take sides but can’t stop myself …
1. Sometimes you need something to keep you busy when you are grieving to help you process (at least I do). Ian’s tassels are apt retaliation 🙂
2. Opossums be not so cute – especially when you have the windows wide open to catch the breeze and at 2 AM the dogs bark and you go over to the window and find yourself eye-to-eye with a big ol’ opossum that is staring back at you from a branch just inches from your face. I jumped and screamed and still he just sat there staring at me and looking creepy. I thought it was a peeping Tom!
It is now your fault that my neighbors are knocking on the door telling me to stop laughing as loud as I am!
Life is so much better with fun friends!! Woohoo!

That was startling.
And possums are not cute when they are in your backyard destroying your bird feeders.
You two are way too funny ?
