The story thus far: Elias is trying to prep his team. They are scheduled to go into the breach in the morning. Ada, Jovo, and Bear are in the tunnel leading to the anchor chamber, where Jovo’s bag is hanging above the anchor, the bait the gress stalker left hoping to lure them in. The three are temporarily protected by the barrier Ada set. The fight is inevitable. Now Ada is meditating, attempting to unlock the secret of the gem within her head in a hope that something within it will tell of the gress’ weakness.
Below is the spotify play list for this section.

The air was hot and smelled of soot.
I walked on an alien planet. Above me a blue sky stretched, but unlike the Earth crystalline blue, this color was a moody, subdued shade, hazy, almost smoky. The sky in perpetual twilight.
The ground was dark stone, triangular hills rising up, ridged with spires of jagged rock. Between the hills, lava flowed in dense currents, a river of it, miles wide, its surface cooled to a grey and purple crust. Here and there, the currents collided, and brilliant red shone in the cracks.
Farther off, at the foot of a hill on the left, where the ground came in contact with the superheated flow, flames rose in a curtain, licking at the hill that had become an island. The fire burned, reflecting in the long stratus clouds and turning them orange and red. Two massive moons hung above it all, translucent grey ghosts sprinkled with glitter.
I’d travelled to someone else’s reality that now belonged to me. I moved through it with a purpose, controlling the flow and selecting my course. I walked and walked, tireless, over the ridges of rock and soil that smelled of tar until I climbed the hill in front of me.
A taller hill waited behind the first. A cluster of six dark towers thrust out of its apex. They were glossy and black, like the crystal points of obsidian that had grown ninety feet tall. Time and the elements had eroded their surface, leaving it pockmarked where age gnawed on the stone. No windows interrupted the solid surface.
I walked to the tallest tower. Rock flowed like water, allowing me to pass, and I entered. The inside of the tower lay hollow. I was on the bottom floor, on a narrow ledge guarded by a stone rail. The black walls, solid from the outside, turned nearly transparent from within, tinting the sky and the burning flow of lava but not obscuring them. Above me, stone balconies ringed the perimeter, six levels. The bottom three were filled with male gress in dark robes; the top three held female gress with veils of chainmail, clothed in garments made from many layers of diaphanous black cloth.
Below my ledge, lava boiled in a round pit. A narrow stone path protruded above it to a round platform fifteen feet wide carved from a glossy black crystal. It looked like volcanic glass, and yet it wasn’t, because lava would have melted it into nothing. In the center of a platform, a rectangular table stood.
The body of a female gress lay on the table. She wore the same garments as the watchers on the upper levels, and a chainmail veil hid the lower half of her face. I moved along the ledge to take a closer look. The skin around her closed eyes was lined and wrinkled like old leather. The life within her barely shivered. She was taking her final breaths.
A tall male gress strode to the dais, walking above the churning lava. A priest of his people. He reached the body and thrust his four arms up, metal bracelets sliding down his narrow limbs with a gentle chime. A long wail erupted from him, solemn like a hymn. He reached down and sliced across the garments, exposing her torso. A metal amulet lay on her chest, a dark ring with 5 moons etched on it.
The female gress exhaled, and the last of her life rejoined the cosmos.
The priest reached for her amulet, touched it, and uttered a sibilant word. The amulet turned red, then yellow. The body of the gress began to disintegrate around it, her skin turning black.
The temple was completely silent. The mourners stood still.
The amulet blazed with white. The clothes of the deceased caught fire. For a breath she shone like she was woven from living flame and then the fire went out, leaving behind a corpse of ash. The priest touched it, and the incinerated body fell apart, raining down into the lava.
Another priest approached, carrying a naked gress baby. The child mewed like a kitten, waving its six limbs. The priests placed it on the table and raised their arms. A spark burst above them and coalesced into an amulet on a thin chain. The first priest reached for it and gently placed it around the baby’s neck.
A commotion broke out behind me. A male gress entered the tower. The two priests hissed in unison and three male gress responded, barring the intruder’s path. The newcomer shoved at them, trying to force his way in. One of the defending gress slashed at the invader. The dark garment of the intruder fell open, revealing his bare chest with no amulet.
The entire gathering hissed. The sound was so loud, it drowned everything.
The lead priest waved his arm, and everyone fell silent. The priest opened his mouth, showing jagged teeth. Alien sounds flowed and turned into words.
“There is no place for you here, soulless.”
The invader dashed out of the tower.
I moved my hand, bending the vision to my will. The temple vanished. A fortress rose in front of me, carved from a mountain side. I watched the gress train within it. I walked between them. I heard them talking. I saw them spar, then learn to kill. I was there when they passed their trials and became Kael. I witnessed them don the devourer shrouds that took root within their bodies. I saw them suffer and inflict that suffering tenfold on others as efficiency mutated into cruelty.
I watched them take their first contracts and step into the cosmos.
I watched them hunt down their prey.
I watched them kill my mother.
yeah!
Certified first 🙂
Wow, color me surprised! Happy Monday everyone!
First?
Wheeeee! Thanks for the update- a wonderful start to my vacation!
yay, new part makes my day wayyyy better

Woo hoo!
Thank you very much
I’m getting from this segment that Sadrin, the giver of The Inheritance to Ada had a contract placed on her and the Kael carried it out??
I’m wondering if Sadrin stole one of the gress amulets and the gress chased her, but it’s now in Ada. They’re trying to kill her to reclaim the amulet.
The Inheritance gem is not the same as the gress amulet 🙂
I’m glad you explained the difference between the two gems/amulets because I was thinking the exact same thing as Tink. I had a hard time understanding this chapter. Now, how is it that Ada is having visions of the grey aliens who are also trying to trap or attack her?
The recap at the beginning of the instalment should help, if not a reread of the previous chapter 🙂 https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/the-inheritance-chapter-11-part-1-and-2/
It’s a bit more taxing as it was a whole week ago and we’ve been spoiled rotten with 2 weekly instalments hehe. Ada is currently meditating herself into an exploration of her inheritance gift, trying to access the knowledge the sadrin memories can give her on her enemy, the gress.
So far she’s been going ever forward through the breach, at the mercy of the snippets of vision the new power instinctively threw at her. Now she’s going deep into a voluntary search and the experience is more involved than before 🙂
I sense ultimate assasin fu coming up. Kiar vs Kael. No wonder they hate each other, they are business rivals!
This does leave a thousand questions about the rest of the Gress. Do they still exist at all? It sure looked like a last survivors stand after the apocalypse.
My theory is that the ‘soul’ is a generational memory that if applied to a baby will supplant the unformed brain with the patterns of the old one. It is a valid method for immortality.
It is a magico-tech on the level of Ada’s gem, and has overlapping powers, but it isn’t the same origin.
There is nothing the Lees hate more than a business rival! 😄
Good point
I have to say this felt very Lord of the Ring-ish complete with Orc-like aliens.
Mind you, I was listening to the Spotify list as I read and that might have influenced my sense of the installment.
Thank you HA for an amazing installment. it was absolutely worth the wait.
Thank you very much! I hope you had a relaxing and easy weekend! House Andrews spoils us so much!

Top ten?
Amazing
I’m getting strong innkeeper crossover vibes…such an interesting world!!! Thank you!
Yay for Mondays!!
Oooooooooh, this one’s such a teaser, I LOVE IT!!! (Also I think the next step in the evolution of books is soundtracks, that was the BEST!)
+1
Awesome, thank you!!
Okay I am spinning. How on any planet is HA going to wrap up this story in just two more posts? There was already a promise to not use “rocks fall everyone dies”
Maybe ‘and then Ada woke up and it was all a dream’…..?! Joke, I know this will not be the case!
Nope, Ilona hates those “twists” 😀
Absolutely not. That’s how you break the readers’ trust, and we try to never do that.
Our authorlords only ever provide the most thoughtful, emotionally delicious and thoroughly satisfying writing that we go back to again and again, because it is our comfy blanket in age of stress.
I was already spoiled for most authors before HA came on the scene, but they have kicked it up to a higher level than ever before. I offer a personal thank you for raising the literature bar for everyone out there.
My eternal thanks
I totally agree!!!
+1 with thanks for wording this so perfectly. HA – the best of writers!
+1
thank you!!
Thank you,Finula. Beautiful and accurate. Thank you so MUCH, Ilona, for never crushing us with inanity. Yes, you have raised the quality bar and thank God for it. I can LIVE in your worlds and revisiting them is such a safe harbor when I need refreshing thoughts, puzzles, company, and delicious gatherings.
The blog post on July 2 said there were seven installments left. There have been three story posts since then which means (assuming none of the posts contained more than one installment) there are four story posts remaining. Plus some concluding material in the published version.
I thought there were five more posts…
LOVE the playlist link!
Thank you, what a great way to start the week.
Ooooh….
Thank you!
Thank you!!! Can’t wait to see what happens next 🙂
That ending— so intense!!
Omg, is it her mother or the mother of the giver of the inheritance? What a note to end on! 😵
“Treasure your inheritance, my kind daughter.”
Her mother is the alien lady who gave her the inheritance gem 🙂 . Ada has now gone deeper into her gift than before, and emerges as sadrin recognizing their bond.
<3
Thanks Mod R!
Thanks Mod R! My brain was using “kind daughter” in the sense that we might call someone Auntie or Grandmother to be polite, even when not related. Didn’t even think of her as being Ada’s mother now, in the sadrin sense of mothers. 🤯
You are the best-est of Mods! (Yes, intentional best-est to express you the best of the best!) 🏆
*you being the best
I need to proofread more before posting. 🤦♀️
Ah, thanks for that clarification. My brain was spinning. Didn’t help that my first thought was “Wait! The kres killed Dina’s parents?!?” Holy moly, I have got my stories all mixed up.
So good!! HA, I hope you had good downtime this weekend!
That was my first thought too. I had to remind myself that Dina is not part of this story.
And then I thought she saw the alien lady’s mom’s death. Didn’t clue in “Mom” was the alien lady.
Thanks Mod R for the clarification.
Thanks for the precision ^^
Thank you!!
Wow, that was… something unexpected. I wonder if the gress in the breach are “normal” gress or the soulless? Or maybe only the soulless become Kael?
Thank you!
The soulless seem to be the ones without a gem. The shroud is given to those with a gem.
So only the “ensouled” become Kael. Ie the ones displacing babies’ consciousness.
The soulless (no-amulet gress) do not have a place in their society, they are rejected 🙂
The Kael, by contrast, are the gress warriors, their most trained.
Oh, I have to reread this. I had a completely different take of that from the first read. I thought that the outcasts became assassins to survive, and without their long memories they were corrupted by what they had done to themselves.
Oh, thank you for the explanation. I didn’t catch it.
I was wondering the same thing as nanik. Thank you for clarifying.
Ignore my earlier my comment, I misunderstood too.
omg I love Anthem. Can’t believe they are shutting it down next year. The music is awesome 🙂
The gress are gross! If my understanding is correct they replace the soul of a baby with the soul of a deceased (soul being consciousness, probably incl memories). The religion is based on body-snatching.
And they are assassins or mercenaries – never a good first impression, And the shroud is also not an indicator of a misunderstood group of people.
I think the baby has no soul until they are given one/an amulet.
The “no soul” without a gem seem to be a religious belief. The “soulless” man tried to crash the “ensouling” ceremony, so he has some motivating force. Which in my book means a soul.
The “soulless” seem to be all right, apart from being shunned of course.
Wow, just wow.
Oh wow. This story is so good. I’m on pins and needles!!!! So full story will be coming out this month, right?
Hope you guys had a restful and relaxing few days 😊
Oooh, interesting! Looking forward to Friday!
Thank you! Color me intrigued!
I’m guessing the gress in the breach is a soulless one and is going after the gem that Ada inherited.🤔
The Kael gress aren’t soulless 🙂 and that’s who is in the breach with Ada
Thanks for clarifying Mod R! You are always right on top of it! 🤗
I gotta say, if I were Gress… um, ick.
Let’s see, the old lady gets to “Shuffle off this mortal coil”.
In the process, she gets all ‘renewed’ (Huzzah?) and settles into a brand new baby body.
The whole process attracts an ‘anti government’ protester, who gets called soulless and runs off
We then get a tour of the local Military Academy, where a bunch of true believers are training to become Kael. As a graduation treat, they “don the devourer shrouds”.
Pardonez moi …. but in my limited experience, few things labeled ‘devourer’ ever turn out to be a good thing.
I repeat.
Ick.
Don’t get me wrong, GREAT story!
Also, terrifying. And ick.
I’m sleeping with the light ON tonight!
LoL never gonna be first 😂
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!
I want so much for the meeting between Elias and Ava!!!
I’d be fine if Ada met Elias at the gate, just in passing, to tattle on London. I’m kind of wondering if Ada will destroy the anchor but that puts a faster timetable on body recovery.
I’m just hoping “I’ve got your kids and cat” doesn’t come off as a threat since she’s thinking the worst of Cold Chaos.
I’m really curious about what realizations Elias comes to when he reaches the mining site. I wonder if the little flashlight Ada used on the tourniquet is labeled at all, like with DDC or AM or Moore.
I hope you feel more rested. Thank you for the chapter part.
I devoured it too fast and need to go back for a re-read because I also thought the “killer gress” were the soulless ones.
So the key to taking a gress down is to destroy the amulet.
taking down the gress is to kill it dead. destroying the amulet is like cleansing it like what Dina did to the corrupted entity that used the ad-hal.
Last night I decided to refresh my brain about the story ( reread it AGAIN) anticipating a BIG “beginning of the ending climax” today. Waned to have all the facts clear in my mind.
PANIC. Somehow it looked like I had cancelled the entire blog. NO where could I find HA emails. OMG. Horror. Desperation. Anger with myself. How could I do this?! THINK.
RAN ( finger wise) to Ilona blog and reentered their subscription list so I would NOT miss this morning.
Sigh. Thank goodness. Got my HA fix. All is better now. I can make it to Friday:)
Wow! Great update and now chalantly waiting for the next bit. Thank you and hope everyone is feeling well.
Ok, not what I was expecting, but really really interesting! Looks like the Gress are a truly unpleasant society and from another world that exports assassins, ugh. Thanks for the recap and for the great start to the week! Hope HA had a relaxing weekend!
This is the Monday of ALL THE THINGS GO WRONG (plumbing, cable, etc.), so thanks for this. 🙂
Because that’s how it works, right? It’s never just one thing. Good luck. At least you have something you can read and reread as necessary!
woah, is the amulet similar to Ada’s Inheritance gemstone, in that it passes on knowledge to the new wearer?
I don’t see anything “evil” or bad in the ritual described… maybe I need to go back to where the gress are first described. I don’t understand why they feel the need to kill/cause such destruction.
oh! good one!
Fragment niesamowity , okrutne dzięki <3. Równie fascynujące komentarze – jak cudownie choć na chwilę znależć się wśród osób, które tak jak ja, żyją czytaną powieścią 🙂
Yes! Marvelous, isn’t it!!
Love it! Thank you.
Adding a playlist is so cool. Please keep doing that.
Love the playlist. So much depth for a short story/novella.
Well, pretty heavy, so many twists and turns. I need to reread the whole story. Wow! Always so clever
Wonderful!!!!
lore!!!!
My comments keep disappearing?
Or not.
I was hoping for an Elias POV. Maybe Friday?
Oh my!!!! This is soooooo exciting…..thank you for yet another great post…can’t w*it to see how this all plays out! 😁
Wow. This is something else. So the woman who gave the gem to not Gress since she didn’t have extra arms, but the gem is Gress in origin?!
Assassins. What is the amulet? Is that the same as the thing in Ada ‘s head?
Come on, Elias get into the breach! There’s families waiting to get answers and two kids waiting for their mom and Bear.
The inheritance gem is not one of the gress amulets. P*tience, all will be explained 🙂
I wonder if the soulless as the head priest called the intruder, is the father of the infant gress and objects to-the ceremony.
I wondered that or maybe wanted the amulet for himself.
It reminded me of the Donkamins who said they were soulless during the debate in Sweep of the Heart.
Wow! Wonderful part thank you
Whoa, what an ending to the snippet. Thank you!
Now on to Friday! 😁
Normally I don’t listen to attached music for stories, but boy howdy did it do its job today! That final line hit so hard! Excellent, excellent, excellent
Okay, the soul is definitely something to do with the gem amulet thing, it probably carries a ‘soul’ person in it which will supplant the person in a baby. The souless invader is probably of a small favtion who do not
Like forcing the identiy of someone onto a different person. He is either personally invested in the child or just there to save it on principle.
Clearly Ada’s benefactor has prrsonal enmity against the kael. The fact ada can access her memories means this isnt a far off technology from the kael amulet thing. But since Ada’s has also changed her biology plus whatever the dungeon is doing to her it is probably a different item.
Just ma theory.
nooooo don’t stop there 😂😂😂 more please.
Wow! Loved it!
Phew, I was holding my breath, that was awesome!!!!!
thank you 😃
Ada’s “mother” stole a gress amulet, does that make her the bad guy? Is Ada stuck with a villain’s stolen goods? Will she be able to talk with the gress and clear the situation?
The gress amulet is a ring of metal.
Ada’s inheritance gem is “round and glowing, like a brilliant jewel lit from within. It was so beautiful. The colors swirled and danced, a stunning, mesmerizing gemfire.”
They are not the same thing. What her mother gave Ada was not a stolen gress amulet 🙂
Thank you.
Wow! Will need to re-read this one. So much happened.
Wow. Lots to ponder. Thanks for the story!
Wow!
whoa! amazing writing and storytelling. ty ty
Hoping everyone in House Andrews and Mod R got some rest over their long weekend and are feeling at least a bit better!
Ooo “veils of chainmail” I love that
Enjoying it immensely.
I ended up thinking about cloaks; the ones worn by gress and ones on corrupted in Inn Keeper series.
Whoo-ooo! Fascinating. This keeps getting better and better, thank you!
Wow.
Oh.
That last line hits hard.
Nicely done.
So lost… The soulless gress killers want an amulet and are chasing Ada in the breach for hers? Or are they against the amulets being given to the infants and want to destroy them? I need to reread…
There’s a useful recap at the beginning of the chapter 🙂 “Now Ada is meditating, attempting to unlock the secret of the gem within her head in a hope that something within it will tell of the gress’ weakness.”
Ada is gathering information on the enemy. She sees their society, their rituals, who they reject, and how they train to become the killers she has to defeat. The soulless gress are the exiled, not the ones that are given the devourer shrouds and trained 🙂 . And her inheritance gem is not the same as the gress soul amulets.
Yes, but how is this information a memory that is shared?
🙂 P*tience. All will be clarified.
You have the glowing gem which the dying alien Lady removed from her forehead and placed against Ada’s and was absorbed.
And then the gress’s black amulet with five moons edged into it, suspended by a chain around their neck.
I’m enjoying the playlist! I think i need to reread from the start while this is playing…
Just, wow, and thank you.
I’ve been re-reading Sweep of the Heart to pass the time. you know, trying to be fluffy and all, which is very challenging with my devouring nature.
I thought it was an interesting choice of words to call them devourer shrouds.” 😂
“I witnessed them don the devourer shrouds that took root within their bodies. I saw them suffer and inflict that suffering tenfold on others as efficiency mutated into cruelty.”
It reminded me of the corruption that Dina describes as part of Sebastian North’s robes and the corrupted ad-hals and wondered if it was something similar.
“The corruption bit at me. . . It was not human. It was a part of him now, but it wasn’t born from him. He had found it and made it his own. If only I could separate the corruption from him. . . It was pouring out of the center of his chest, from behind his breastbone”
Maybe I’m looking for too much of a cross-over instead of a nod. It is a big universe with plenty of corruption and evil.
+1 I was thinking along the same lines. Almost as if it’s an origin story for the corrupted ad Hal. But could be a coincidence I guess!!
I am wondering if the person in the breach who has something Ada needs is the
same person that
has blocked the tunnel.
Your answer in chapter 10 🙂 https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/the-inheritance-chapter-10-part-1/
Oh my, the inheritance gem has, I believe, been so beneficial to Ada, I hope she finds what she is looking for! Looking forward to this book!
Thank you! So now we have some of the Grees‘ backstory.
A quick inventory of the Inheritance’s embarrassment of riches: the unknown creators of the breaches/ anchors, the monsters that spew forth, the unique ecosystems of the breaches such as the toxic mauve flowers/ stalkers/ wasps/ spider herders, the Lees, Sadrin, the Grees and Skelzhar, Earth‘s guilds with their Talents, processes and politics, Cold Chaos leaders (Elias, Leo, Jackson, …) and the individual members of the miner, escort and assault teams and, of course, the Moore family (Ada, Bear, Tia, Noah, a cream-colored cat, the negative space that was Roger).
And they’re all connected. In a novel-length novella.
No wonder HA is tired and the finale is proving a Herculean task.
Thank god there will be a sequel.
Does this mean there is maybe a soulless one who becomes an ally?
Im interested to know if the gem creates an obligation for Ada to take up the cause of her gem mother. And how she’d reconcile that with needing to get back to her kids which would cause other issues with her now being “enhanced” like an alien. I also wrote a comment that disappeared making connections between soulless getting a cape that makes them not nice but strong and the amulet Gress who pass on memories? Souls? Something to newborns via the amulets. And then Ada getting power and memories without turning not nice via the gem. Maybe soulless wants the gem to solved the soulless problem? Or to eradicate the Gem people forever? Idk what the Gress beef is with Ada’s gem mama’s people. Cant wait to find out!
The last comment I have from you is from the 7th of July 🙂 . Nothing else has come in since, I don’t think your missing comment was ever posted?
Whaaaaaa! Wow 👏🏻 fascinated? Yes I am. Thank you House Andrews! I await Friday with the rest of the hoard. ❤️
I am enjoying this so much, but am still struggling with how Ada’s world can crossover with Innkeeper. Parallel Earths? Can yall help a Horde member out please??
Oh man, not ready to stop reading. So exciting. I always enjoy when a human finds out they have a complicated beginning and may not be fully human or human at all. Always an abrupt change in what they believed to be true on all levels. It’s a great plot twist and I love it. Well it could or could not happen. Hope you are pacing yourselves HA. I know you need precious rest. I am so fortunate to have you care about the Horde. I am currently reading a series about an American guy who found a spaceship underwater and got chosen to lead humans into space. It’s so good, I have to keep reminding myself it isn’t real. Your writing is the same.
Oooooh, it’s personal!
Thanks HA! Didn’t see that coming! Love it.
Thanks ModR for all the clarifications! You’re the best! We certainly keep you busy.
Needed that episode. <3 <3
Thanks for the playlist. I enjoyed reading the section listening to the music
Thank you, thank you! Here’s hoping that you got some “meditation” in for yourselves!
Thank you!
First, thank you!! That was AWESOME. Second, does this have any connections to what Klaus was saying about postponing your wedding for 10 years because everyone would come for you. With the Earth being the only 12 dimension jump spot, if I was trying to destroy the universe, it seems a good place to target… causing gates and havoc. Third, I have 100% loved this. Thank you for the gift of great writing.
I loved it. Thank you for making my day.
hooo boy!
in the innkeeper cronical what happen to Dana”s parents?
Dina’s parents arc will be resolved in the next Innkeeper novel 🙂
Thank you so very very much for sharing your craft with us!
The writing evokes so many emotions that the movie in my mind 😉 is crystal clear…..
“the last of her life rejoining the cosmos” – BRILLIANT
Hope all is well with House Andrews!
Sending peace, health and safety to all!
I’m confused about the gress she sees training toward the end of this segment. Are they the gres with amulets or without?
Wow…not what I expected! I am loving this. Ada being able to go into the Gress’ memories is extremely helpful in assessing how she might either understand and/or defeat it. A cool and informative peek into the Gress world! Thank you!
Thank you! This is a great start to the day.
As a potential crossover with the Innkeeper Chronicles does anyone else see a possible connection between the Gress shrouds and the shrouds of the corrupted Ad-hal? I thought about them when the first grey shroud reached for Ada.
Re-read and time for comments
1. I’m thinking the “soulless” is a parent of the baby whose own soul/essence is being snuffed out for the replacement. Not happy. Who would be? But you can’t fight City Hall and there is no way to keep one’s baby from the “honour” of becoming a soul-full.
2. Those damn shrouds are evil and make their people more evil. Like the robe/shroud on the corrupted Ad-Hals. So they work on any entity and not just Gress.
3. I understand that Ada is diving into the Blue Lady’s memories via the Gem. So it was obviously the Blue Lady’s mother who was killed by the Gress. I know that the Gem has the memories of all its previous holders and I wonder if Ada might get into deeper memories in the future. For now, to deal with the Gress, she only needs the blue Lady’s memories. So future Inheritance books WILL happen so older Gem memories can take centre stage???
4. Thank you, House Andrews, for giving us a Monday snippet.
It’s not the Blue Lady’s mother 🙂. It’s Ada’s mother, the Blue Lady, killed by the gress.
Also, please don’t interact with the bots 🙂. I will get to them as soon as possible, I do sleep sometimes though.
Thank you for the snippet.
This is a total guess, but if the Gress want the inheritance from Ada, I wonder if they then corrupt it with their amulet “magic”. Can’t imagine those are easy to come by. Ada’s inheritance did not replace Ada, she just became a part of it.
I wonder if the thing in Dina’s story, somehow got hold of one of those shrouds and it corrupted him…
Can’t wait for the book! Thank you.
Does anybody else think that Elias and Ada will become an item? She certainly deserves someone like him. (ElAda)🤭🥰
Thanks HA! I hope you get some rest. ❤️❤️
I forget, was one of the hired assassins in Innkeeper Chronicles a gress or kael?
Always enjoyable to read through the comments. Even on Team Facts Be Dammed clarification can be needed.
I let my bias prejudice me into thinking that the history experienced was the Soulless Ones becoming the villains, due to that whole soulless thing.
And that it was the Blue Lady’s mother who was killed, setting the Blue Lady on her path of justice, revenge, and/or protection.
Looking forward more.
So I opened this chapter to read while monitoring my cats at feeding time. I have 2 petite girls and one large male who would eat everyone’s helping if allowed.
Seeing the soundtrack link I opened it to listen as I read. Unfortunately, the volume on my phone was way up. Yep, the picture in your head is probably accurate.
My crew are all middle-aged. I haven’t seen them scatter that fast in a long time.
I did, eventually, get to finish the chapter after I had coaxed them back from every corner of the house. Ah well… the soundtrack and the chapter were super cool and the cats got a little cardio before breakfast. Win-win. =.)
