The edits on Kate 10 have landed, so we will be busy with those for the foreseeable future. Once they are done, it’s full speed ahead on Hugh’s book.
Gordon is doing business taxes. He is not a happy man, but he has girded his loin and is trying to beat them tax prep into submission.
It is a beautiful day here in San Marcos. We went for a walk. It was so nice and the dogs got to see the neighborhood and be petted by everyone they met. The downside is, now I have Britney’s Toxic stuck in my head.
How is your Tuesday?

Awful. Got a nasty cold plus I have to work. At least I can do it from home, in my bed. I hate winter.

Got good news the last of flu gone but my immune system is trashed. I am not going out in public till I go to the dr. On Friday. We are getting air purfier for bedroom to help with allergies (molds pollen pet dander dust dust dust mites etc.) . Sinus infectons totally suck. Got lots of small chores caught up that fell by the wayside while I was down with flu/pnuemonia for 3 weeks. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Read all the Kate books again and Dina and Nevada also.love Maud and Arland! Read multi! Creator bless.

All the best with the Kate 10 edits! I’m sure you guys will do an amazing job, as always. Looking forward to more news about Hugh’s book later on.

So glad you were able to get out for a walk and enjoy the neighborhood. I sympathize with Gordon and the taxes. This year my taxes are going to be particularly tricky due to several major changes and I am not looking forward to it (even less than usual). But, this to shall pass (as my mother always used to say)! ?
The weather here in Northern Virginia took a turn back into cold temps again, and windy. Not a nice day to be outside, but a great day to be home with a good book, a soft throw, a hot cup of tea, and a Scotty dog who loves to cuddle. Fighting what I hope is only allergies instead of the beginning of the dreaded flu ?, and my husband just complained that I had not kissed or even hugged him yet today! Here I am trying to prevent spreading my crud to him ?, and he gets his feelings hurt! The good thing is that my husband still wants hugs and kisses (and other things ?? – sorry, I will keep this clean). When I am feeling ill, I usually turn to some of my favorite books to reread- like having the comfort of a visit with an old friend. Of course, your books are usually the ones I turn to. Right now it is the Innkeeper series in honor of the Maud snippets we have been getting – which are fabulous!!!

Actually, I am lucky enough to have two dogs that love to cuddle, a Scottish terrier and a Westie Scottie mix. The Scottie is just definitely Mama’s girl and never leaves my side. When I am sick she gets all motherly trying to take care of me and it is just so adorable!! It warms my heart and is as good for me or even better than chicken soup!!

And I have two miniature schnauzers who vie for my attention. The more dominant one lies across the stairs to block the other one, who sits at the top and cries for someone to come and save him. So totally cross with each other when I’m around, but we’ve caught them so many times sharing the same dog bed when left alone (there’s two more in their vicinity so don’t have to lie together) – they are so obvious!
Monica says
Glad you got out and about ? I am into first week post surgery after Achilles’ tendon reconstruction, two weeks non weight bearing cast, four weeks weight bearing cast and four weeks boot. All I can say is I am in desperate need of amusement so Maud is a joy.

It is 20 here in NYC and had some snow yesterday . Went to memorial for good friend and wake over the weekend . Then at work , several people out ?trying to do more work minus 2 people and copier keeps breaking down . Stressed out , eating donuts and just trying not to kick the copier. Or the clients when I tell them next free appointment is 2 weeks away. Re -reading favorite books and listening to Fleetwood Mac and Bob Seger to de-stress.
Glad you are moving forward book wise and you and Gordon and pets like the new neighborhood. Walking a dog always was a great stress release .

Hi Guys, I’m back to work at the nuclear plant and desperately editing my first novel project, Second Son. Found the cover on the book cover website you recommended. Promised I’d get the manuscript to my book engineer this weekend. This is to be a private family edition, to keep a promise to my Mom, then I’ll be seeking representation. Second Son is also a ‘continued by’ project, based on my uncle’s experiences in WW2. Can anyone spell fact checking?

Good luck with the taxes and edits (both can be supremely frustrating).
Just out of curiosity, will we ever see the second part (I assume there is a second part) of the Rogan POV from Wildfire? I’m really curious as to see him watching the date, also the actual blowtorch scene.

Well now I have Toxic stuck in my head Wednesday morning. I’m also stuck at home feeling sick but I get to work in my PJs.
I am excited for all the books you are working on and all future books.

Ugh, taxes! Luckily, my husband also does the taxes, though it is my job to gather all the necessary paperwork.
Today is going to be a great day. I take a knitting class this afternoon, it’s the second class so I actually have a teeny-tiny clue about how to knit now. Hopefully, I can finish a small piece and have the side look straight-ish (which did NOT happen with my first piece).
Have a great week!

You seem to be more relaxed, it’s good, good luck for the taxes thing, hope you guys are fine !
Here’s only routine haha

Good to “see” you out and about and feeling better! I got up 10 minutes before my alarm, because, my brain is weird, and actually got up instead of laying there for another 20 minutes. Got to work early, which is why I am writing and eating right now, rather than working. Enjoy your day!

I would like to send your “Spousal Unit” My utmost sympathy. Being an accountant myself and spending the last two weeks in 1099 Hell along with doing all of our 4th quarter filings, I raise my Whisky glass to him in salute! It will all be over soon!

Glad to hear that you’re feeling better. And interested to note that Gordon only girds one loin during tax prep. It’s 70 degrees here in sunny CA. Working in my shop on some new custom orders then doing some photos of the new stuff. Just glad that the Santa Ana winds have stopped and the temp is above freezing. We have had some wild swings between day/eve temps for the last two weeks. BTW recommending ‘The Post’ to everyone – just a great film with terrific acting. The story kept us on the edges of our seats.

Gathering tax stuff together. Did laundry. Took my dad to the doctor. Walked the dog (four times). Waiting for Kate10.

Why don’t you use a tax preparer? A decent tax preparer can eliminate most of the headache.
Ilona says
We have a corporate accountant, however he still requires information such as closing documents on the sale of the house in Georgia, closing on purchasing of the new house, mortgage interest, a complete accounting of business expenses, including individual amounts paid to editors and artists for self-published work, so 1099s could be sent, a complete breakdown of income, communications with IRS, totality of taxes paid, and so on and so on and so on. We own and run a S-corp.

That nasty little not quite flu was wrassled into submission . . .
and then I went out Tuesday, on public transportation . . . folks were coughing , sneezing, and hacking through this worrisome fat wet fluffly snow flurries, that would not stop and kept trying to stick & pile up.
BUT,I conquered the FOIL method in algebraic expressions! Yaaahooo! Take that winter!
Taxes, yipes, yeek & gah
I just do them.
Then I read the book, check off next to what I did, asterisk what I didn’t,
? mark what I need to check and put it down.
There is no getting away, it will keep pulling me back.
So I repeat till its done . . .
