Hi everyone, Mod R here.
Graphic Audio have updated the release date for Magic Rises, the 6th novel in the Kate Daniels series. This will now be August 30th on all platforms: that means the Graphic Audio Access app as well as Audible, Hoopla, Chirp etc.
I promise you the wait is worth it — the adaptation will also include the short story “An Ill-Advised Rescue” and I know for a fact that Nora and team are hard at work singing magical sea shanties and recording European accents. Ilona provided voice clips for all the names and foreign terms, so the pronunciation will be exactly as intended by the author. The script adaptation is wonderful, and everyone knows how much the Horde hates Lorelei. I’m very excited for you to hear it!
Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost…
Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.
Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…
The preorder is only available on the Graphic Audio website at the moment, but preorder data will be sent 2 months in advance to the Graphic Audio partners from now on (Audible etc) – which means beginning of July preorders for anyone who doesn’t want to use the Access app.
A brief clarification that these are not author-commissioned adaptations. Graphic Audio decide which books they are interested in and approach the authors to license adaptation rights, which grant them the right to reproduce the work in their format. House Andrews don’t control which books get dramatized, the creative direction, or GA policies and schedules, although they are always available for consultation and insight into the material.
If you have a suggestion, you want them to adapt a different book or series (there are a lot of questions usually about Gunmetal Magic or Hidden Legacy, which I absolutely agree would sound amazing!), or you have a problem, it is best to contact their customer service directly. If you reach out to us on the blog, we will do our best to assist you, but there is not much we can do.
I know I have to end this with a brief “what is Graphic Audio” for all the newcomers: they are a company that produces full-cast dramatized adaptations of books, with each character being interpreted by a different actor, and adding soundtrack and sound effects, similar to a radio theatre play. Their tagline is “A movie in your mind” and I think they fully deliver!
So far, they have adapted all the published novels in the Innkeeper Chronicles series and they are in the process of adapting the main Kate Daniels series (Kate POVs), including the Curran POV and extra material from Small Magics. Each book has a sample that can help you decide whether dramatized adaptations are your cup of tea. Here is a post with instructions on how to create an account and app stream or download the other file formats.

Sanctuary 7/30 and MRises 8/30… swoon! Cannot wait for the sea shanties with a full cast!!
Irmel says
Order of Merciful “Protection “? – In the GA blurb…
Moderator R says
I’ll have to get back to them about the Aid 😀
Patricia Schlorke says
I didn’t think the Order did protection unless it suited them. 😂😂😂😂😂🤣
sarafina says
They will do anything, their way.
Smeech says
What is the short story “”an ill fated rescue”? I don’t remember this short story.
Moderator R says
Ill-Advised rescue 🙂 . It’s at the end of Magic Rises, but happens before it chronologically- Saiman gets kidnapped for ransom and Kate saves the day. He owes her big time, which is why they get him to facilitate their travel to Colchis and Castle Megobari.

Magic Rises is my absolute favorite KD book. I cannot wait for the Graphic Audio version! So excited!! 😁

WOOT next book! <3
I love these productions and have zero objections to diversifying House Andrews income streams 😀
OH and any word about Innkeeper Tapas Season 2 (speaking as a greedy BDH member)
(if this double posts, apparently the internet glitched here. The link does, in fact work for me and i will be requesting the Hidden Legacy, Gunmetal Magic, et al)
Moderator R says
No official news for Tapas 2, unfortunately 😕
Elizabeth G says
Fingers crossed!
AP says
Thanks as always for the update Mod R!
I know it will be worth the w**t – GA puts out quality work!
Pence says
Yay. More audio books. I love both the straight reading versions and the dramatized ones.
Patricia Schlorke says
I just finished reading Magic Rises.
If we can hear any bloopers from the readings, that would be nice. Sea shanty bloopers anyone? 🤣🤣🤣
Sons says
Yes!!!! And extra if they have commentary outtakes as the cast preps for them😎
Charlotte says
Oh I really like Graphic Audio! I listen to a variety of books there and really enjoy myself.
Looking forward to the next KD part!
Tempest says
While I’m sure we all sighed dramatically at the w@iting, I think we’d all rather w@it a little longer to get a quality product . . . Plus, sea shanties? Of course we can be patient for sea shanties.

And Saiman singing!

I am not an audio book fan as such…but the GA adaptations are great!
Terrie C says
This is one of my favorites and I cannot wait to listen to it, after reading it countless times. Giddy with excitement
Judy Schultheis says
I find myself looking forward to the duel between Kate and Hugh. And I adore Christopher – not quite as much as Luther and Doolittle, but close.
sarafina says
+1
Marisa says
Yes!!
Patricia Schlorke says
If I listened to this one, I would, along with the duel between Kate and Hugh, find myself looking forward to the scene where Kate is with Astany and Astamur and listening to Atsany’s stories. I probably would laugh myself silly when Curran finds her and goes on his boulder/rock throwing contest. Every time I read that section, I have to put my Nook down, I’m laughing that hard.
sarafina says
This will be great. I read quite a bit so am not often surprised by events, but Hugh’s entrance was a true SHOCK. Loved it!
Wendy says
❤️ these so much! waiting is hard!
Elise says
I freaking love the Graphic Audio adaptions. They are so fun. Guess I need to run off and email them about Hidden Legacy. Thank you for the update.
Annie says
As a new graphic audio listener, I was very impressed with first ‘Kate’ adaption. I am slowly collecting my way through the adaptions, and just listened to the first Innkeeper book.
WOW, just love, love Arland’s voice.
George says
On order … can’t wait !!!
AK says
I adore Graphics Audio. Every audiobook I’ve bought from them has been amazing. And the Kate and Inkeeper books are my favorite they’ve done.
The guy who does Orro cracks me up. I heard him on another series and thought, Orro! as if he were an old friend.
And I’m so excited they’re doing Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series too.
Claudia says
I like audiobooks, but I LOVE Graphic Audio productions. The wait will be worth it, I’m sure!

Thanks, Mod R!

Yay! Even though I have listened too the audiobooks countless times, listening to the Graphics Audio is like listening to it for the first time!🎉😁
I know we have Sanctuary coming soon and now the next Kate Daniel in graphic audio shortly after… which is wonderful and something to look forward to… but…any news on Maggie? 🤞
Moderator R says
Still no comment on Maggie for now 🙂

The sea shanties were one thing that really piqued my imagination in the text. Awesome that they will be dramatized.

Sweet! Magic Rises will be my self-birthday present!
I am totally doing the dance lol

So, how would we go about getting the Kate Daniels twitter/text threads done by the Graphic Audio cast?
