Hey guys, Brandi here. I’m sure some of yall have noticed there haven’t been as many posts lately. Ilona’s father is in town, so we’ve been preoccupied with family stuff. We also are having a health complication with one of the dogs, which sucks a lot.
On a lighter topic, I wanted to share some updates on Eugene the turtle and Paul the tarantula.
Paul is a curly haired tarantula, a species requiring a significantly warmer environment. His previous setup wasn’t working out, (my sister likes to keep it FREEZING upstairs) so we decided it would work best for everyone if he was moved.
He’s now Eugene’s new neighbor. I doubt they’ll ever meet, but it’s cute to pretend they’re unlikely friends. Or like, a detective duo that solves harrowing mysteries.
Eugene is a red eared slider turtle I won unexpectedly at an event I was working. He’s super tiny, which at first scared me because I didn’t know if I’d be able to take care of him. But he’s thriving and super happy.
He’s actually very clever. He started to notice that anytime I lifted the container of his shrimpies, that most likely meant he was going to be fed. Anytime he sees me enter the room, or even touch his shrimp, he’ll eagerly start to swim towards me and beg.
Paul mostly likes to eat, and then bury himself underground (which I can relate to.) Hopefully we’ll see more of him as he matures into adulthood.
I hope yall enjoyed this update on our critter friends!
