We accidentally named our antelope-like alien after an existing Native American Tribe. We were messing around with the phonetic variations of a word auroch, meaning prehistoric ox and made an unfortunate error of not google vetting the word due to fatigue.
We had selected aurochs as a model because surprisingly bovines have a very large number of taste buds, 25,000-35,000, and would therefore make really good chefs. However giant oxen probably wouldn’t have the necessary dexterity, so we moved on to antelopes, and then the name didn’t make sense, so we randomly chose a phonetic variation without checking Google. We usually do, but this time we didn’t.
Our deepest apologies to Yurok Tribe. This was completely unintentional and due to being tired and being behind schedule on our part.
The unfortunate word choice has now been corrected.
