Look what just came in the mail.

It is a full color advance reader copy. It is beautiful. This is not the final manuscript – there are still a few typos, but it is very close to done.
We are going to be giving away 2 copies to US readers only. The cost of shipping internationally is prohibitive right now and we’ve had packages that were lost.
To enter, leave us a comment about something that makes you happy. Doesn’t have to be a big thing. A cup of tea, someone letting you merge onto a crowded highway, a cat perching on your lap. Just something that brought you happiness recently.

Winners will be chosen next Friday, 09/26/2025. This is a blog giveaway, only answers in blog comments count.
Sunshine especially after several days of dreary weather.
I am pregnant and it makes me so happy to create lists of books and movies and things I want to share with my baby. It reminds me of the love, humor, and good times I’ve had during these crazy and scary times. I’ve already started to share them. My husband laughed when he heard me reading one of your books out loud to my tummy and making up words instead of cursing. “Sugar-sticks!” Instead of sh*t for example, lol. Thank you for sharing your stories with us all!
Watching the leaves drop throughout fall on my porch swing, feeling the breeze getting cooler. The smell, the acorns dropping.. I love fall!
Trying new foods while reading a good book. That is my happy place.
Hanging with my dog makes me happy. Thanks for the opportunity!
Watching the squirrels outside my office window take turns grabbing peanuts out of the feeder–that always brightens my day.
I am a librarian and every time I see someone check out a book I love, especially an older title, it makes me happy to see stories I love being discovered by someone else for the first time.
My pets. Yesterday I watched our newest addition, a skittish orange and white cat, play tag up and down our hallway with our exuberant orange and white dog. You could tell he was playing (not being chased) and it made my heart so happy to see him feel comfortable enough to play with our big- hearted dog.
A friend leaving her special snickerdoodles on our doorstep before we went on a cross country trip.
This isn’t a small thing, but it was the first thing I thought of. My daughter sent me a video of her reaching into a cannulated cow as part of a pre-vet class. It was horribly disgusting. I am so happy we have a relationship where she feels safe and excited to share her world with me.
My dog makes me happy.
A new series. Yay.
It makes me happy to do small repairs on my daughter’s house that she can’t do-repair door jamb hole on wall, clear backed up sink, repair her deck.
playing with my grandbabies
Learning something new everyday and challenging myself to find at least ten things to be grateful for.
Looking up into the night sky and seeing all the stars shining 🙂
This likely comes across as brown nosing, but I have no shame. Something that recently made me happy was reading “The Inheritance.” The day the book came out, I devoured it in one evening (quite an apt name for your Horde).
Mostly leaving a comment here so you know just how refreshing it was to read a book where the protagonist is not 17 years old. It was also a very welcome and pleasant respite from the state of the world right now.
I was delighted to hear you’re releasing another new book early next year, and I am so excited to meet Maggie next!
Love it!
There’s nothing like curling up with a good book and some coffee, a dog at your side, while it storms outside
My husband and fantasy books make me happy!
Recently, it made me happy when I got to bike around the driveway with my son and listen to classic rock.
a new book from favorite author
My old lady dog napping on the bed next to me, stretching out to her fullest length and casually smacking me in the face with a paw in the process ❤️
The sound of my 4 year old niece laughing when she thinks something is hysterically funny
Getting to go home from work early and take a nap before the kiddos get home 🙂
Going for a run in the beautiful fall weather!
Yesterday my husband and I worked on fences with our daughter. We are volunteers on a Nature Conservancy ranch, fixing cattle fence, and building BIG fences to keep elk from eating all the willow & aspen the creeks need to stay healthy. I love that my clever, gorgeous daughter is really good with tools & backcountry construction.
“A cup of tea, someone letting you merge onto a crowded highway, a cat perching on your lap.” Yes! All of those things.
Getting the best parking spot in a crowded parking lot – usually the closest, but sometimes it’s the shadiest
mint chocolate and cheese…and this is why I am fat. 😁
