Hi everyone,
Mod R here, not from Unicorn Lane this time, but from what feels like Moloch’s very citadel of misery in the King of Fire. Hope everyone is keeping hydrated and at a comfortable temperature.
I have some good news for you: Graphic Audio have released the Epilogue update of their Clean Sweep dramatic adaptation. Gertrude Hunt receives its star!
Please delete and redownload your Clean Sweep file if you use the Access App to listen. If you purchased the zip file version, you can find that link in your account. If you need your zip file download limit reset, please let Graphic Audio at support@graphicaudio.net . If you purchased the CD, the lovely people at GA will contact you and arrange it so you can listen to the update too.
If you bought the GA adaptation of Clean Sweep from 3rd party retailers, such as Audible, they will most likely have the new content available for you to listen by the end of the week.
Finally, a reminder that the Graphic Audio version of Sweep with Me will be released in less than 2 weeks, on the 1st of August. You don’t want to miss Orro shouting Fire! or the philosophical space chickens hehe. It will be available on outside stores on the 1st of September.
There is a huge surprise to come here (SO many more surprises coming this summer!) and I have to keep quiet even though I’ve been hopping and skipping in excitement for a few weeks about it.
I’m going to reward myself with an ice cream now, this secret keeping is hot work.
San says
Secrets!!!??? Now I’m excited too!
Tiffany says
I’m working on getting my roommate into HA’s work. He likes audiobooks and such, so I might try this~
Jaser says
When will Sweep of the Blade be available on Audible?
Moderator R says
August 1st 🙂

Oooh secrets.
Can’t wait.
Emilie says
Ooooo! Now we are all intrigued.
Angela says
Graphic Audio FTW!
Mog says
Sympathy to all Londoners and everyone else sweltering through the heatwave in Europe. Our cities were not built for this. Thinking about upcoming secrets is a very welcome distraction.
Elizabeth Weaver says
I am addicted!!! Can’t wait for more! I have all your audio books from all your series!!! For this series though I wonder are we going to find out why Dina seems impervious to the corruption of the Ad’hal? Or is this more of the Dominion and saving wilmos this book around?
Moderator R says
There will be…reveals! 😀
Kelticat says
Yay, secrets!
For the BDH in Europe, some tips for battling heat.
1. If you have a headache no matter how much water you drink, try a sports drink or coconut water. You need to replace your electrolytes as well.
2. If you have to cook, do it after the sun goes down. That gives your house time to cool down.
3. Wooded or coastal areas are noticeably cooler. This is really recommended for the elderly, because heat can kill.
4. Cold meals are a thing.
5. So are fans, air circulation can help you feel cooler.
This advice is coming from someone who has no air conditioning.
Elizabeth Weaver says
Excellent advice!
Rhonda says
If you want a hot meal, using a slow cooker or an electric pressure cooker helps. This heat is crazy!
Patricia Schlorke says
I second everything you said Kelticat.
Patricia Schlorke says
Oh, one other thing to mention. If you have a small oven, use that than a big oven. The smaller, countertop oven push out less heat than a big one.
Moderator R says
Thank you all so much! ????
Melissa says
If you are using one of those personal fans, a cool wet cloth under it can blow some cooling air your way (using ice works, too). Someone who lost her electricity due to a tree branch taking out the junction box on the house – and took Friday to Monday to get it done – electric company won’t hook you up until after city inspectors – ouch) during a NC summer.
Grazie says
I’m a keen reader of health articles & I also remember reading that drinking milk is quicker to rehydrate than water if yiu have a dehydration headache. I’ve found it works for me & quickly dispels the dehydration headache compared to simple water.
Moderator R says
I drink milk with mint syrup in the summer (learned it in France), I think I will make one now. For the electrolytes, ofc! 😉
Mel says
Thank you so much. I just couldnt figure out the cause of the headache except for well the obvious heat or water. And i had defenitly had more than enough water. Gonna put this info to good use
Donna A says
I wish I’d read this earlier! I even started to feel nauseous and had to take a cool-down break. Funny enough I came up with ice cubes in my plait by myself (stuck some in my bra and waistband too!) and put feet in cold water with a wet cloth on my napeand forehead before feeling better. I’m not made for this weather!
Shirley says
Take some good salt and magnesium glycinate for electrolytes (sports drinks are salt and sugar).
Recommend BBQ to cook outside, or any portable device used outside; toaster oven, hot pot etc.,
North americans love ice cold beer for this reason!
And iced tea.
And lemonade!
And Icecream!
Take frequent, Cool showers or baths.
Use an ice pack on the back of your neck.
Best of luck!

Hi Mod R,
I ws wondering it we are going to be getting any clarification on the most recent House Andrews instagram post?
Moderator R says
The answer is: yes. But not yet. Mwahahahaha. Haha. *evil laugh*
It will be soon but the Horde must have p**ie**e.
Patricia Schlorke says
Oh no, we get the swear word to wait. ????????????

*Leans closer and whispers* You can tell me…I won’t tell anyone else. Honest!
Stacey says
Adding to the advice on dealing with heat. Try pointing the box fan out the window and opening a window across the room.
For the curious, if your house/room has positive pressure trying to entice the nice cool air in can be like trying to shove that one last piece in the suitcase. Instead, invite the cool air in by making some room for it.
njb says
oooooh, secrets! Way to bait the hook! Not that the BDH needs much work, lol.
Judy Schultheis says
In the essay about coming home to the disaster, Ilona said something about one of the boyfriends rescuing his girlfriend’s computer because there was a surprise coming in August and she had to keep up with the editing.
I include the boyfriends in my assertion that House Andrews has some great kids!
Judy Schultheis says
I live in Portland, Oregon, which has roughly the same climate as the British Isles.
No airconditioning.
When it gets hot in the summer, I soak down a t-shirt, wring it out and put it on. Depending on the temperature, three or four times will get me through a day.
Kristen says
That’s torture! No telling us there are big surprises with Mary a hint. ????
Patti says
I feel like a tech idiot, but I haven’t bought the graphic audio book, because I’m not sure what the Access App Only means under the purchase options. Is there a specific app I need to download on my Android phone to get the audio book or can I listen to it in Audible? Thanks!
Moderator R says
You can absolutely listen to the books on Audible- everything up to One Fell Sweep is already on there, with Sweep of the Blade to come on the 1st of August. It will say “Dramatized Adaptation” next to the GA ones to distinguish them from the one-narrator version 🙂
Here is the link to Clean Sweep https://tinyurl.com/29j5r9ze
Sweep in Peace https://tinyurl.com/2p859953
One Fell Sweep https://tinyurl.com/anznm4aj
The Access App is the Graphic Audio app for downloading or streaming content, yes you can download it on the Android phone here https://www.graphicaudiointernational.net/access-app
Hope this helped 🙂
Patti says
Yes, thank you so much! I have so many credits at audible, now that I’m not driving to work, so I got all 3 of them. Thank you!
Naenae says
Surprises are always NEW KD CONFIRMED!!!!
Hehehhe
Rhonda says
I love Graphic Audio! My library has a Hoopla account which has the first three Innkeeper books in the Graphic Audio format. Still waiting on Sweep of the Blade to appear.
Of course I am coming close to just purchasing them for my own listening pleasure.
H says
Obviously I do not have insider knowledge. That being said I feel like I know Mod R well enough from the webinar IA chats and the blog to say if she is that excited I wonder if its a story about Roman from KD. Just a thought. : )
Moderator R says
Although that is totally on brand for me, I do get excited about other things that don’t have to do with cute volhvs every now and again 😉
Remember BDH, it doesn’t happen until it’s announced in the Release Schedule https://ilona-andrews.com/release-schedule/
Joan says
The BDH believes that if we wish hard enough the Release Schedule will magically change.
H says
I will not lie. After seeing Mod R’s reply I went directly to the release schedule to see if maybe it was a hint to the secrets. It was not. Or the secrets are so well hidden I have not found it yet….maybe I need Julie’s magic to reveal the secrets.
Breann says
Yes! Like in KD where if enough people believe, it becomes true! ????

How many others look to this page as a source of joy in the week? I know I do.

We moved from one state to another this summer and those GA books have been a lifesaver for the long drives back and forth with my 13 year old son who dislikes everything (you know, because being 13 is hard). A few days ago he actually asked me when the next would be available. He will be happy to know the next one is right around the corner. Well, as happy as 13 can be. 😉
Patricia Schlorke says
Ooo…secrets. I don’t want to have any patience (there I said the swear word). It’s too hot for secrets. 😀
Does bribery work? (Probably not, but you know I have to ask, Mod R, as part of the Horde.) 🙂
Anke says
You do not have to carry the load of your secrets alone. You can share with us, we are trustworthy.
Really!

Love the GA version of Innkeeper <3
Fingers crossed more Ilona Andrews series get GA adaptations too!!
BRENDA says
+1 x 1000000!!!!
Breann says
Yes! ALLLLLLLLLLLL of them! ????
Liv W says
How deliciously… tantalizing! (Thanks for the heads up!)
I also have no air conditioning at home, by choice for the past 35+ years. Also no TV, no WiFi… but lots and Lots and LOTS of books. I’m luddite, clearly. 😉
Everyone, please do stay hydrated, and not just with water alone, as someone else mentioned above. It’s essential to replenish your electrolytes. If you must brave the heat, wear a hat (if possible) and light clothing (color and weight), sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Alice says
Secreeets??? Yeeeey :))))
BRENDA says
If one of those surprises is the Hidden Legacy series or the Kate Daniel series also coming to Graphic Audio, I would be jumping and skipping around too!
Marti Wulfow Garner says
I really enjoy the Graphic Audio versions of these books. I have them from Audible, but like them better on GA. I have all of them now on GA and pre-ordered Sweep for Me. I bought the download so it will easy for me to get the updated version of Clean Sweep.
Tasha says
Honestly, these graphic audio versions are EVERYTHING! I stumbled upon this one via audible and now I’m hooked! Love, love, love that this series is available via graphic audio!
William B says
I just listened to the additional content, nice add.
Moderator R says
Yay! So glad you liked it ????

Enjoy your ice-cream ???? for me it would be icecoffee

Thanks for the heads up and the tease!

A Burning Man trick for dry heat, which may even work in England: fishnet stockings or leggings and gloves, soaked in ice water, wrung lightly, then pulled on. The rapid evaporation of water off the netting cools the extremities, and eventually you.
Claudia says
Yay! I love the Graphic Audio audiobooks!!
Kamrin says
Secrets! I can’t wait! Mod R, you tease
Rom says
What about updates to files borrowed from a library?
Moderator R says
The library is the buyer in that equation ????, and will hopefully get the notice for new content available.
Tapati says
My British friends are telling me it’s unbearable there. I’m so sorry you’re all going through this, many without air conditioning.
One friend posted a psa about hedgehogs needing shallow bowls of water–they are showing up dangerously dehydrated at rescue centers. Many don’t know they’re around since they’re nocturnal.
Good rule for anyone in a heatwave–there is always wildlife needing fresh water in those situations, no matter what country you live in.
Kelly M says
???? Secret?! We wantsssss it, preciousssss!
Jean says
Italian ice or popsicles if those are in the freezer section at your local grocery store. Also, a yummy way to help with the hydration!!
In the 1970’s, Tupperware had “make your own popsicles” container sets. My mother used Koolaid to make the popsicles, and cut the sugar to 3/4 cup so they would freeze faster. (You could also use the pre-sweetened Koolaid mix, but use the sugar sweetened version, not the artificial sweetener kind. Bitter after taste.)
Rose says
I kinda feel like I should chime in on cooling techniques? I live relatively close to Florida so pretty much everyone has air conditioning, but it can’t always keep up. We have a humid heat so this tip may not work as well elsewhere, but it’s worth a shot.
I learned a cooling breathing technique when I lived in tropical India. It’s easy. Sounds odd so try it at home first. Inhale your breath slowly through your mouth; it usually hisses in through your teeth and that’s fine. Hold your breath for a few beats. Exhale slowly through your nose. Repeat. You’ll start feeling cooler in about 3-5 breaths.
Unlike many breathing exercises, the point is not how long it takes you to inhale/hold your breath/exhale. Just do what feels comfortable. The longer you can draw it out, the faster you cool down, but it’s not a race. The point is to pull cooler air into your body (mouth-inhaled air is cooler), hold it in your lungs until it collects some of your body heat, and then exhale through your nose to pick up even more heat. Alternating also helps keep you from drying out as fast if you both inhaled and exhaled through your mouth.
Hope it helps someone!
Robin says
More cooling ideas… If you have a bathtub, fill it as usual, but use much cooler water than usual. 27 to 30 c for 20 minutes will help you feel better. You don’t want much cooler than that, but it should improve your outlook and comfort levels for a bit. Being the hedonist I am; I invested in a plastic wine glass for those occasions, and I have been known to add chunks of frozen fruits, or ice to my wine when soaking. It is important to carefully limit alcohol in extreme heat so switching wine for fruit juices may be indicated.
Robin says
Also, be very wary of artificially sweetened prepared drinks in this heat. Some of those sweeteners don’t tolerate the heat and become Phenol. Phenol is a poisonous substance that can occur if artificial sweeteners are in solution and exposed to enough heat over enough time. Yes, the resulting dosage is low, but you don’t need to add to the reasons you don’t feel well.
Pat says
Now you know why Americans put ice in their drinks… I live where it routinely gets 100 degrees, and most people have air conditioning. Fans and cold water baths are helpful. Sleeping in a wet t-shirt helps. If sun is beating into your windows, put aluminum foil ( the kind you use for cooking) over the windows to deflect the heat.
Robin says
Shinier side out. Try to tape it in place covering The Glass only. It’s not a replacement for drapes, but an attempt to block the heat gained through the window panes. My husband’s mother used to use painters’ tape for that. You would want the foil in contact with the glass so that the heat doesn’t intensify or collect bouncing back and forth between the glass and foil.

Looks familiar … just substitute my bead stash (entire closet with box after box of beads in vials classified by color ranges, findings, etc., etc., etc.).
At least my embroidery thread stash is confined to 6 drawers.

Please let our author overlords know that I have thoroughly enjoyed the graphic reading and especially love the Tim Curry sounding Arland. Love his voice.
Moderator R says
I agree with Ilona when she said GA Arland is “sex on a stick” ????
Elaine says
Will Audible notify us that there’s an update? Or do we have to manually delete and download? (Sorry, not very familiar as I don’t usually listen to audiobooks… Joined just to get Clean Sweep when it came out)
Robin says
And is the update/epilogue places besides Graphic Audio? I have the first 3 books as a set. I bought the set for booth the Barnes & Noble nook and the Amazon kindle. None of my copies have anything I could find about Gertrude Hunt being awarded a net additional star.
I did see the part about losing one and gaining for zero net change due to the Arbitrators endorsement.
Moderator R says
Hi Robin,
The Epilogue to Clean Sweep is clearly marked “Epilogue” and begins with the sentences “ The phone rang. I looked up from my novel.” It is present in all versions of Clean Sweep.
Due to a file error the epilogue did not appear for a while in the Kindle copies bought last year, however that issue has been addressed and a content update should be available for you in the Manage Your Content area or if you sync your device ????
Robin says
Whoop! Many thanks! Wishing you cool breezes.
SoCoMom says
Yippee and thanks, Mod R! I just checked Audible and the Epilogue for “Clean Sweep” is there now. I just listened to it 😀
Hope you stay cool and enjoy your ice cream. Looking forward to future surprises.
Moderator R says
That’s awesome!
Elaine says
Thanks for the update!
Carrie S says
I have ordered and Sweep with me but I don’t see any of the options s you mention for the updating Clean Sweep. The Graphic Audio website is Primitive and doesn’t offer any clues on how to update the app versions of the download. Or even a way to ask the question
Moderator R says
Hi Carrie,
The email for contacting Graphic Audio support is linked for you in the post- here it is again: support@graphicaudio.net
If you have the Access App, as I said in the post above, simply delete and redownload Clean Sweep 🙂 . The new file with the epilogue will be ready for you to listen.
I hope this helped 🙂
Carrie S says
Thank you! I redownloaded and it was there this time. ????
Moderator R says
Awesome! I’m so glad ????
Robin says
As yet the Clean Sweep in The Innkeeper Chronicles, Volume one has not updated on Barnes and Noble nook or Amazon’s kindle that I can find.
Moderator R says
Hi Robin,
To clarify, the update I’m talking about in this post is to the audio file of the Graphic Audio adaptation ONLY. It is not an update that applies to any other formats, which already have this content.
Both the Kindle and Nook ebook versions of Clean Sweep have the epilogue, I have just checked them. Please make sure your device is connected to the internet and sync your Kindle content or go in Manage your Content and Devices https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/mycd/digital-console/contentlist/booksAll/dateDsc/ and update manually.
If not, please contact Kindle/Nook support for assistance.
On my devices, the Epilogue is on page 226, in case this helps 🙂
ClaudeNZ says
Just wanted to say hi to my favourite fantasy authors. Thank you for the diverse range of stories you have written so far. You have held me enthralled from the first KD. My ultra favs include Silver Shark, Sweep of the Blade, Magic Bites, all three Nevada Baylor and Fated Edge. I have been known use Sweep of the Blade in audible to go to sleep to and yes I am loving the dramatized adaptations off the Innkeeper series! And sometimes I go back to the start of each series and reread them and fall in love with them all over again. P.S. re movie deals. Maybe one day your stories will be told as they are in their wholeness like spiderman into the spider verse Miles Morales style of graphic animated cartoon with nothing changed!
Robin says
As an additional option for evaporation cooling, you can place 9 parts water and 1 part rubbing alcohol in a plant mister and making certain to cover you eyes and hold your breath while applying must yourself. The alcohol will speed the evaporation and so increase the cooling. As this will cause your mister to become unsuitable for plants you will want to choose carefully as to whether to sacrifice your current mister and get a new one for the plants or acquire a new one just for this purpose.
Repurposed cleaner spray bottles are not recommended for this use. It is too easy to have not fully removed the solvents.
Robin says
Not “must”, but mist yourself.
Avoid use if wearing “dry clean only” clothes.
Damietta says
Strongly recommend Peppermint Candy Ice Cream for summertime cooling.
