Hi everyone, Mod R here with fabulous news!
The Graphic Audio adaptation of Clean Sweep, the first volume of the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews, has been nominated for an Audie award in the Best Audio Drama category!
The Audie Awards are granted each year by the Audio Publishers Association to honor the best titles in audio-publishing and spoken word entertainment. In layman’s terms, it’s the audiobook Oscars and it’s a Very Big Deal.
Massive congratulations to Nora Achrati & team at Graphic Audio and of course, to Ilona and Gordon!
Clean Sweep is in august company in its category, alongside other finalist productions like 1984 adapted by Storytel and Good Omens produced by Harper Audio. This is an amazing achievement and so well deserved for the wonderful production of the book we all love. Horde, cross fingers!
For those who are new and might have questions, Graphic Audio produce full-cast dramatised adaptations of books, with each character being interpreted by a different actor. Think old timey radio dramas, complete with soundtrack and sound effects. Their tagline is “A movie in your mind” and boy, do they deliver!
GA have so far adapted the first 5 stories in the Innkeeper Chronicles series (you can listen to samples on each of the title pages) and have purchased the rights to adapt the Kate Daniels series! Magic Bites will be released in April and is available for preorder on the Graphic Audio website and most 3rd party audio retailers.
Look at me being almost professional for a whole post hehe. Now to break out the celebratory Mello Yello and Funyuns and SQUEE!
gingko-girl says
Wow! That is fantastic news!
I was introduced to Graphic Audio through the Innkeeper Chronicles and now I buy GA versions for Overdrive whenever I can find them.
Congratulations!
Michael Wilber says
I was wondering if the latest installment of the sweep series was going to get the graphic audio treatment as well?
Moderator R says
GA has not yet purchased the rights, so it’s not on their schedule, but they are full steam ahead Kate Daniels at the moment so I wouldn’t worry!
BrendaJ says
I’ve never used audio books because I couldn’t hear them. But thanks to my new cochlear implant I’d love to try it. I have an iPad and I’m wondering is this the selection I should make?
“Listen with Access App Only (Apple iOS & Android) $0.00”
Thanks,
Brenda
Moderator R says
If you want to download the proprietary Graphic Audio app, yes ????. More information on it can be found here https://ilona-andrews.com/2022/graphic-audio-of-clean-sweep/
The books are also available on other audio retailers now however, just look for the “dramatised adaptation” version.
BrendaJ says
Thanks so much! So the one I checked is an app that only works with Graphic Audio products. I didn’t realize other retailers also carried it. I’ll check that out. This is all fun and exciting new stuff to me.
Thanks again.
Wendy-Wellesley says
Congratulations! So well deserved. We loooove listening to those books on road trips!
Henry says
Congratulations!!!
MariaZ says
Congratulations to both House Andrews for creating the story and Congratulations to Graphic Audio for making the story a “movie for the mind” and winning an AWARD.
Patricia Schlorke says
Congratulations! I had Funyuns for lunch with a sandwich. No Mellow Yellow since I am off caffeinated soda.
I guess I was channeling my inner Caldenia. 😀
Moderator R says
I love channelling Caldenia! 😀
Arezoo says
Congratulations and hopefully the newest book will also get adapted soon. Fingers crossed. I have the first four playing pretty much on repeat for me. They are my go to books when I need something fun to listen to while I work. It is truly well deserved that the first instalment is nominated. ????
Mary says
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Siobhan says
Congratulations!
Sherri says
Congrats on the Audie nomination. The folks at GA did a first-rate job.
I’m not usually a fan of anything with multiple narrators as there are so many (many) ways they can fail. The GA Innkeepers are AMAZING and well worth the $!
I’ve already ordered Magic Bites and am so excited about it.
Karen says
woohoo!! so ooo well deserved!!
EarlineM says
Awesome!!! I’ve loved listening to the GA “movies”.
Barbara Swanson says
I’ve never listened to an audio book, being very visually dependent to intake information–but I think I need to give this a try.
Congratulations!
Amber says
If your library does Hoopla try through there. Graphic Audio has sold most of its collection to that service.
Breann says
I never cared for audio books before, but the GA ones changed my mind! I LOOOOOOOOVE them! I definitely recommend giving them a try!
Sam says

Relin says
Congratulations! What an amazing honor and its absolutely clear the amount of love, collaboration and work that went into it!
Stacey says
this title is so deserving of the award. every single voice actor was perfectly cast, in my opinion, and dragged me into the BDH to stay!
(in fact I had read some of hidden legacy and loved it but didn’t know it was the same authors until much later ????)
njb says
Well, many many congrats to GA artists on their nomination and to HA for creating the story that might give them a win (and we hope lots of publicity to bring in more readers). Got to have a good story to bring out the best in the narrators!
Melissa says
+1
SoCoMom says
I can’t squeeze out loud right now but I am on the inside – Congratulations!! well deserved!
Joan says
Congratulations on a well deserved honor!
Diane E Wilson says
Congratulations! Well deserved!
Pamela Piatt says
oh my word! I have never liked audio books with their boring monotone voices. But you just made a convert when I listened to a sample of Clean Sweep. This is my favorite series in book form and now I simply must have the audios! Kudos!
Trish says
I am so ready for Magic Bites!! can’t wait!
Catlover says
WooHoo! Great News!
Katie R says

Noreen says
Yay! I love the job the GA folks did with all of the Innkeeper stories so far.
Absolutely can’t wait for KD on GA!!!
Kim says
Hurray! So excited for them!
I’ve given a lot of $$ to GA since listening to Clean Sweep. Love their adaptations!
(Highly recommend Gunnie Rose by Charlaine Harris and World of the Lupi by Eileen Wilks, if anyone cares)
Brenda says
So loving World of the Lupi right now after falling down the Graphic Audio rabbit hole with Clean Sweep!!
Breann says
I’m a bit ambivalent on the book version of Gunnie Rose, but I’m on the lookout for another series so I’ll go give the sample a listen, but I’m definitely checking out the other one you recommended! Thanks!
Sheridan Skinner says
Congratulations! So exciting!
Chele says
Oh my goddess! How fitting, this was even better via graphic audio than when I read it!!
Donna A says
Congratulations to everyone involved. Fingers crossed for the win????
Julene says
Congrats! That is wonderful news.
Bea says
Congratulations!!????????
And…Did someone say Funyuns! Yummy.
Patricia Schlorke says

Pamela F. says
Congratulations!
Mary says
That is awesome! Congrats on the accolade 🙂
Waiting (im)patiently for the upcoming audio releases this year!
Sechat says
Congratulations!!!!! although my personal fave is GA’s adaptation of SotB!
Terrie C says
Wow, well deserved. Glad you are getting extra attention because I think everyone should read and hear your books.
Debi Ennis Binder says
I have all 5 Innkeeper GA books and pre-ordered the first Kate book. There’s something magical about hearing them performed, almost like the old-time radio shows. I recommend them for anyone who loves the IA books!
Rhonda says
well deserved. I have all 5 of the Innkeepers on graphic audio and am on tenterhooks waiting for Sweep of the Heart.
The team at Graphic Audio and House Andrews is the penultimate combination.
Cathy Besemer says
Clean Sweep was my first graphic audio novel. Now I’m hooked. Congratulations!!
Michelle says
Congratulations! The nomination is so well deserved! I was never into audiobooks, but when I listened to GA’s adaptation of Clean Sweep, I was hooked! Wonderful all around.
AP says
Congratulations and good luck to HA and GA!????
I love all the adaptations they’ve done of the Innkeeper books and can’t wait for more and of course KATE!!! HA did great in choosing the right voice actors for each character.
Don’t take away my BDH card but I was a huge fan of the Good Omens adaptation – both the audio and televised versions. GO is in 2 categories, one of which includes CS, so hopefully CS wins one and GO wins the other.????
GA sucked me in so I now have the Vatta series by Elizabeth Moon – well done there too IMHO.
Cathy says
Love the Vatta series too!
Claudia says
I first heard of Graphic Audio when they started to do the Innkeeper series, and they have absolutely spoiled me for other audiobooks — they do an amazing job creating a “movie in your mind” — and I’ve started buying their audiobooks for other writers. (Most recently the Midnight, Texas series by Charlaine Harris.) I hope they win the Audie, because it’s richly deserved!
Dawn Emerson says
Here, I will SQUEE along with you!!
wingednike says
Congrats! I love the GA versions of the Inn Keeper series. I listened to it while driving a van full of people to my church’s field trip to Wyoming.
Kris says
I have loved all of the GA versions. I treat them like my favorite TV shows and listen to them often. I’m so glad the recording and the authors are being recognized!
JenMo says
So cool! A what company to find yourselves in! I love the GA adaptations of your work. Can’t wait to hear what they do with Kate & Co.
Mary says
So happy you for you guys and Graphic Audio! My library has the innkeeper series in graphic audio and I adore them. Listening to Clean Sweep now! And I laugh so much. I just love Sean and Dina and the whole voice cast- Nora is wonderful. Can’t stop smiling about this news!
House DeMille says
Congratulations! Love the GA versions. I hope they do pick up Sweep of the Heart and do their version of it to.
Btw, I noticed Sweep of the Heart isn’t on the Release Schedule page with the other Innkeeper books…
Moderator R says
Oops, fixing it right now ????. Thanks for letting us know!
Bill from NJ says
I can just hear it ‘Here Kitty Kitty’ with the sound of a ruffling bag of kibble. or the sound of Kate welding Curran’s weight set together.
Tasha A says
wahooo!!! I Loved the adaption and all the subsequent ones. I don’t normally listen to audio books but I LOVE these. Magic bites is pre ordered!
JoAnn says
My sister and I just listened to this on our 9 hour drive from Orlando. Very entertaining and it made the miles fly by!
Carol Duchesneau says
Congratulations! Yup! I’ve bought all the Innkeeper Chronicles on the GA site and when the latest one comes up for pre-order, I’ll be waiting to pounce. 😀 Already Pre-Ordered Magic Bites on GA. They do some awesome stuff with Audio.
Liz says
Absolutely love those audiobooks. Well deserved!
Johanna J says
This is great news! ???? Here’s hoping for a well deserved win.
I tried Funyuns for the first time a few months ago, just for the heck of it. Not much of a soda drinker, though, so will stick with Dr. Pepper on the rare occasions when I indulge. I really prefer tea and coffee. I wonder how Funyuns go with tea…
Kat in NJ says
Awesome…..Fingers crossed!!!!!!!
Wendy says
How wonderful! What great news! Anything the Horde can do to help?
Nifty says
I just finished listening to this. They did a great job.
Sivi says
that’s amazing news. Congratulations to House Andrews you guys for the win ❤️????
cayenna says
I love this! Congrats to everyone!
I’m holding on to all my audible credits for every graphic audio of every Kate & CO book ever.
Happy Friday!
Breann says
Congratulations on the nomination! Very well deserved! ???? ????????????????????????
IA got me hooked on the GA books and now that’s what I listen to while on the treadmill. It’s my reward for working out (yes, I need that extra motivation). I’ve listened to, and loved, all the Innkeeper ones and am anxiously awaiting the KD one in April.
Moderator R says
Hi Breann,
There will be a Book Recommendations thread soon and we will include your question there 🙂 . Thank you for your understanding!
Breann says
Thank you Mod R! ????
Trix says
yeah! congratulations!!
I’m going to have buy these now for my work outs on the treadmill and drives for vacation.
thank you so much for all you do for us!!
Maria R. says
Congratulations ???? and wishing for a well deserved medal ????️. Fingers crossed ???? I wonder what type of appetizers Oreo might create for the event?
Shirley says
Hi! I just got a botification of a new release for the Innkeeper series, its in french, but the title translated doesn’t match any of the current english titles nor does the cover art…? Mar 8, 2023 release??
Moderator R says
Une réunion au sommet: Dina Demille is the French version of Sweep in Peace 🙂 – as indicated it is Tome 2 of the series.
It references the negotiations between the 3 alien parties, or as we would say, their summit 🙂
Sleepy says
cool!! I am still part way into reading Sweep of the Heart (told myself I could only listen to the audiobook at the gym lol) but I’m planning on listening to the GA after!
Courtenay says
I would pay money to NOT have to listen to an audiobook version of 1984. “Imagine a boot stamping on a human face – for ever.” I would run away, screaming.
Margaret K says
Congrats, Ilona and Gordon!!!!! And performers. ????
Passing this rec on to all reading friends who love audio.
Celine says
Congrats! It’s well deserved. I finally listened to Innkeeper Series, and oh no! Now these will be my 3rd type for any HA books! I already have them all in kindle, audio and now GA. I love, love, love the GA! I hope they do all IA books, please!! Well done GA!
Gaëlle from France says
Congratulations !!!!
M says
Thumbs up! and fingers crossed.
Daphne says
Awesome news! I love the graphic audio adaptations. They are so much fun. Congratulations to our august authors, you deserve all the acclaim and recognition!!
Tom says
Fantastic news! Well done to all at House Andrews & Graphic Audio!
George Bailey says
Congratulations !!!
sarafina says
This is great! The stories are so enjoyable with different voices, can’t wait for Magic Bites to come out!!!
Will Ilona and Gordon get big bonuses if they win??
Moderator R says
I don’t think it works that way ????, sadly! But the visibility boost will be awesome!
sarafina says
I’m doing Kate’s books on CD in the car, a re-reading Catalina’s trilogy. I’d love if GA did that, with Alessandro slipping in and out of accents.
Eleanor W. says
Congrats! I can hardly wait to hear who won. I was curious about when the Audie Awards will be given out, so I googled it. The awards ceremony is March 28. Fingers crossed. Turns out I can’t listen to audiobooks in the car – I get too focused on them and find myself not paying enough attention to my driving. ???? They’re great motivation for doing housework, however.
Cathy R says
Well deserved congratulations to all, though I can’t figure out which of the IA books to nominate. All the Graphic audio books are amazing. They totally converted me to listening….but only for Graphic Audio. The one exception is the audio book of Sweep of the Heart which is done by the amazing Nora Sofyan (Achrati) who performed for GA on the previous Innkeeper adaptations.
Moderator R says
There will be a book recommendations post soon where we can include the requests ????.
Bill G says
Excellent news; congratulations!
Steve L says
That’s so cool. Can we vote? Cleansweep deserves all the honors possible. Just let TBDH loose on them.
Betty says
Wow, that is amazing. Congrats. <3
Cheryl L. Baum says
Congratulations! Well deserved.
jollee says
Hello! I am a long-time member of The Hoard but this is the first time I have made a comment or query. My question is rather simple and might have been answered on one of the few posts that I missed or in the comments.
Do Ilona and Gordan “coach” or review the readers on the pronunciation of unusual character names? Or does the first reader of a series establish a sort of canon for future books?
One little thing that gave me serious giggles was when the reader of Clean Sweep (traditional not graphic – haven’t listened to this one yet)) pronounced (the supermarket) H.E.B. as “heb”. Although maybe everyone in the Austin area pronounces it differently than in San Antonio or Dallas! LOL
Thank you, thank you to the author gods… you supply some of the comfort food for my spirit! Congratulations, you deserve ALL the accolades!
Moderator R says
Yes, there are usually pronunciation guides/instructions. However, audio narrators are artists, and as all artists there are licences and subjective interpretations ???? and ofc not every name can be covered!
Yvonne says
I love the graphic audio performances! I have the entire innkeeper series on audible.
Wims says
Congratulations! That production is sensational! And Innkeeper is so absolutely perfect for the format, too. Every voice actor was amazing. I listened to them non-stop when I discovered them, and while I’ve listened to, and enjoyed, other GA productions since then, the Innkeeper books (which are my absolute favorite urban fantasy series) remain the high bar.
Miriam says
I’m so happy for you guys. Your hard work has earned every credit. So. I’ve never in my life listened to an audio book. What do I have to do? Where to buy and which app to download?
Moderator R says
Hi Miriam,
The most popular appears to be Audible, but if you want to give Graphic Audio a go, there are further details on listening on their app in this post ???? https://ilona-andrews.com/2022/graphic-audio-of-clean-sweep/
Mallory Schultz says
Such a well deserved nomination. I could never get into traditional audio books but I found the Graphic Audio Production of Cleansweep on Audible and I loved it. The rest of the adaptations from GA are equally wonderful and I cannot wait for the Kate Daniels version. GA also has many other wonderful stories. Warlock Holmes and the Eric Carter series are some of my other favorites.
Caitlin A says
Do you know if the Kate Daniels audio will stay available in both original and Graphic Audio versions? If I’ve purchased both, will I be “allowed” to keep both versions in my Audible or Libro.fm Library? Congratulations on your Audie nominee – it was a lovely surprise to see it on the list.
Moderator R says
The two versions are completely different and will stay as distinct products in your library ????.
The Graphic Audio are independent separate projects and will never replace the traditional audios.
Kellie in Arizona says
Woo hoo! I absolutely love reading the Innkeeper series on Graphic Audio! The series is already great, and listening to it with a full cast and sound effects is awesome.
Brightfae says
Congrats to all!!!
Jennifer says
congratulations! and there will be even MORE members of the BDH (audio)!
Cathy says
Congratulations!
I enjoy Graphic Audio listening far more than just one person reading a book. And I’ve enjoyed listening to the Innkeeper Chronicles some four or five times now. I can’t wait until Sweep of the Heart is eventually released.
Mary says
Congratulations! This is very well deserved! I listen to audio books now (my eyes like the rest after long hours of work)
This was the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to and hope the entire series will have the optional Graphic Audio.
Heather Lee says
Congrats! It is a well deserved nomination! I LOVE the GA versions of the Innkeeper Chronicals. The character portrayals have been spot on.
I am so excited to have GA covering Kate’s series.
DianaInCa says
Sorry, I’m late to the party but a Big Congratulations on all your hard work! Because if there were no words there would be no story.
