Thank you to everyone who emailed asking how doctor visits went. For mammogram, I will be in limbo for a week or so. If they find something, they will call. Otherwise, I will get a note in the mail saying it’s clear, so no news is good news. It’s stressful, but it is what it is.
For ENT, there is good news and bad news. The bad news is that the throat is red, irritated, and there is a slight thickening likely due to inflammation. The good news is that nothing is growing in there. There are no lesions, abscesses, and so on. Most likely diagnosis is acidic irritation. I am already on Prilosec, but we’ve been eating cereal quite often lately, and one of the possibilities is that my stomach just can’t handle that much milk. The fat in milk stimulates acid production. So I’m back to the alternating diet of steel cut oats and eggs for my breakfast.
On the plus side I’ve got to sit in the ENT office and make weird faces and strange noises, while he was peering into my mouth. 🙂
Some of you are asking about an update on IRON AND MAGIC. Do you remember the date of the original post? Well, we are going to try to have some cool reveals available to you on the anniversary of it. And that’s all I am saying for now.
In other news, we are working hard on finishing up IRON AND MAGIC manuscript. We also had a hilarious idea for a third Kinsman novella, which I’m just dying to do something with, but the IAM comes first.
And that concludes the update.
BookLover says
APRIL 1!!!!
Wait. Will it be April Fool’s stuff with the real updates available the day after?
Won’t be disappointed since your pranks are hilarious. And usually end up making something happen based on the Hordes responses.
sarafina says
I was wondering if April 1st counted, or only after she got serious about it.
BookLover says
Well she said the original post and that was April 1st right? I assumed that’s what she meant anyways.
sarafina says
The ‘original’ post was a joke for April Fools Day. She got serious about writing it later after popular acclaim.
Grizabella says
I have a problem with milk but I found a bowl of museli with Apple juice instead of milk was really nice.
sarafina says
Glad things are going relatively well. Best wishes on the mammogram results!
Rachel says
OMG, yes! More Kinsmen!
Alex R. says
Kinsman, kinsman, kinsman!!!!!! Wheeee!!!!
Errr…. I mean, yes, please.
Davinia says
Yes!! More kinsman
Ines Heinz says
I was one of the lucky people to buy both kinsmen books when they were available in eform. I recently reread them (and all the other ilona andrews books with the exception of alpha origins since I don’t own it), and I heartily concur that we need more building of that set of worlds!
Sara T says
What she said!!!
The Other Margaret says
I read the second kinsmen but can’t find the first to read. Any suggestions. anyone?
Patricia Schlorke says
Ilona talked about this on the June 18 2016 blog. I went to Google, and typed in “Silver Blade Ilona Andrews” and saw the post. After I saw it, I remembered reading it when it was first posted.
Ilona said that they wanted to rework Silent Shark as well as write a third story and possibly bundle all three books together. They couldn’t do all that work in 2016 since there was no time. So…maybe now (or soon) is the time. ?
Frances says
More Kinsman!! Yeah! I am one of the lucky ones who has both Silver Blade and Silent Shark as ebooks but I would love a third Kinsman story AND the opportunity to buy all three bundled together as a paperback.
Milagros says
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Me too!
Karenanna says
I read the first one by checking the book out of my library.
Xine says
Yay, Kinsman! I love that world and just recently reread the 2 novellas. Would love to have more in that world – though really, you had me at hilarious!
Drew says
Did you take pictures with audio of the weird faces and strange noises? Because that would be really cool.
A new kinsman in the offing is awesome.
Jennifer says
MORE KINSMAN! So excited! Woohoo!
wont says
All good. Great!
I love when you are excited about a new writing project. But, it does make the waiting more difficult.
We are going to sit, wait and be good. **eye roll**
Carol says
Glad you are ok Illona. I have had similar but my throat issue is caused by Eosophageal Dismotility. It’s not nice and have another two sets of tablets to add to the others. Best wishes towards your mammogram. I think I was lucky they just found calcification in there. Thinking of you.
Penny says
Good luck with your health.
MORE kinsmen ?
Make Kay says
Ooo, I’d LOVE another kinsman tale. Yay!!!!!?
NiraCatalina says
A new Kinsman novella in the future? My day was just safed. Thank you!
Tatiana says
About the milk fat, maybe trying skim milk and seeing what happens?
(or are you like me in thinking that skim milk is awful and should be banned from the planet?)
Tina in NJ says
Skim milk…Do you mean white water?
Tink says
Heh. White water.
I wonder if almond milk or soy milk would be as problematic. I don’t like them straight (well, I’ve never tried soy straight), but I seem to recall the almond milk was ok with cereal.
Cindy says
I had a cardiac patient who called skim milk “blue john”. We have learned to tolerate 1% milk.
Kate Rooney says
I have found soy or rice milk go well in cereal. I’ve used both making overnight oatmeal as well.
Char says
Sometimes it depends on the brand. Try a different brand of Skim and it might be worlds better. Get well and hope all the tests are negative!
The husband has acid reflux, and the thing that helped him is putting the head of the bed up. The head is 4.5 inches taller than the foot. It is only a little slippy ?. But it has helped him a lot!
Thank you again
Judy says
Glad today was mostly good news, looking forward to first of April.
VeronicaK says
So excited for more Kinsman!
Stacy says
I want to read the Kinsmen books but I cannot find Silent Blade. I can only find Silver Shark, which is book 2.
Please help
Tina in NJ says
I, too, cannot find the first Kinsman novella (at least not in the Kindle store), and I haven’t gotten number 2 because I want to read them in order. I thought I saw that Grace of Small Magics was set in that world, and I have read that one.
Looking forward to an egg-citing Easter this year, as it is also April 1st.
Alex R. says
Google it. It’s a free novella but in a weird format which you can read online.
Erin Burns says
Per an old blog post Silent Blade was originally sold to Samhain and the contract ran at so they will have to re-issue as a self pub.
https://ilona-andrews.com/where-is-silent-blade/
Jen says
Thank you
nickole195 says
Like you guys I have not been able to get my hands on the first book and though I have the second will not read it without having (like it is a hardship) read the first….presumably with potential release of a third the powers that be will make the other two available!!!
Gale D says
I borrowed my state’s online library e-copy of Silent Blade.
But I don’t know if all states have this service or would have purchased this book.
Rene Arnush says
I’ve checked it out of the library as an ebook, but I don’t know if it’s widely available. Check Overdrive, maybe.
Stacy says
If the books don’t need to be read in any particular order I’ll anxiously wait for it to become available again.
Patricia Schlorke says
It’s not available for Nook either. I have Silver Shark. No Silver Blade. Maybe with the third book, Silver Blade can also be made available?
Teresa says
I have both Silent Blade and Silver Shark and know I got them from kindle on amazon. If you use kindle, try calling them.
Alex R. says
REDACTED
Here you go guys. Enjoy. It’s fun.
CarolynR says
Thanks Alex!!!! I read Silver Shark (I have no discipline to wait when I could be reading a new-to-me AuthorLord book) and have been longing to read Silent Blade. Is this a legit site? I hate to take something I should be paying them for.
Ilona, I’m glad to hear you have a relatively benign diagnosis from the ENT, and one you can take steps to address. Hopefully the mammogram results are clear.
Kinsman 3? Please, please, please!!!
Now given the date, will the IAM cover reveal have Hello Kitty??
Ilona says
No, it’s a pirate site.
CarolynR says
Deleted my bookmark. I will wait as patiently as I can for a legitimate copy. Thanks for your work, sorry you have to deal with that garbage.
Stacy says
Same here. I hope they get re released as a set. I love everything the authorlords have written
Libb says
🙁
Michelle says
I have both Kinsman novels. LOVE THEM!!!!. They are not so tightly linked that you *must* read them in order. Two different couples separated by ten years or so in time.
Really looking forward to a third.
Pat says
Ditto, I have both, lucky to buy silent blade before s a m h a i n went under. (Had to double space, my demonic auto correct kept changing it to zambian)
my only question is if there is ever a possibility of our authorlords ghostwriting a Lorna Sterling series ? I think that would be too too funny. I still remember when the whole April fools Hugh joke was on the list, lol, and voila, after much hard work by the authorlords, there is a book! ?
Ashley says
What an amazing birthday gift it would be for me to have some news from you 🙂 love your work!
Love,
The april fool! (Ashley)
Claire says
Weird..
I thought and have been told that it is the sugar in the cereals, the tomatoes, the chocolate…or in the ready-cooked dishes which produces the stomach acid.
The fat in the milk or any other product is not good for the cholesterol level.
But I’m not a doctor just an avid reader of your books….
GailinPgh says
Lactose can exacerbate existing problems.
Michelle says
It is/could be all that. Everyone is a little different and nutrition is more complicated than we in the medical community want to admit.
Michelle says
P.S. Fat not likely a problem for cholesterol or health. Likely that trans-fats screwed up the study results and healthy fats are not bad and in fact necessary for normal functioning. Multiple studies show increased risk of suicide in people with super low cholesterol levels.
P.S.S. Am a doctor.
Ann says
More Kinsman! Happy dance!
Of course I remember the post date. And you thought you couldn’t redeem your carefully sculpted psycho. 🙂
Laura the Librarian says
I respect the hell out of ya’ll and am excited about a new Kinsman down the road. You write it, I will buy it and read it. Brightest blessings on you and yours forever and ever.
Jennifer says
Hi, I just had an endoscopy. Swollen, red, with a large hiatal hernia which they rarely treat. Hidden GERD. So, Prilosec and very tiny meals. It feels like a lump in my throats that occasionally catches the swallowed food and makes it hard to eat. I have been using CBD oil for a week now. It’s so awesome. The swelling has gone down considerably so has the acid and the lump in my throat. Hope this helps.
JenS says
Kinsmen. Kinsmen. Kinsmen.
Eva says
I love your kinsman stories. I am super excited for the books to come out.
Kirsten says
*Screams* MORE KINMAN!!!! HUZZAH!!!
Glad you don’t have a throat infection. I just got better from having strep throat myself. Looking forward to April 1st 🙂 I am curious if the book will follow the original synopsis at all that you had way back in 2015. (probably not but we really won’t know until the new synopsis is posted) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Richard says
Yeah! More Kinsman 🙂
Chachic says
OMG A THIRD KINSMAN NOVELLA! That would be awesome. Although I’m excited for anything you guys write and can’t wait for news about Iron and Magic.
Thanks for sharing the medical updates!
Dana says
Oh my gosh! More KINSMAN???!!!???!!! SQWEE and YES, PLEASE!!!
DianaInCa says
Well here’s to hoping for a postcard. Hope the throat feels better soon. When I had the crud a couple of weeks ago, my throat was killing. I tried a home remedy of lemon juice, honey and hot water. Essentially hot lemonade, it made my throat feel better.
Thanks for the updates
Colleen says
Glad to hear it’s nothing very serious.
Lou says
Watch out for tomato stuff and milk and cream but I have taken protonix for 10-12 years after trying others. It works for me
Valz says
Hope you are feeling better soon and the rest of the news is good. I’m allergic to milk so I use use unsweetened almond milk for my cereal. It tastes good and does not have a lot of calories.
marta cox says
Had my mammogram last Tuesday so like you I’m just waiting
Lizf says
KINSMAN!? ZOMG, great news! Hope you feel better.
savil says
can you try soy milk or almond milk with cereal? not sure if you were drinking milk for the taste or other reasons. if it was for calcium, there are other foods, like kale that have more calcium than milk. My brother has milk allergies, so when i was growing up, i got cereal with water =(
MerryB says
Thank you very much for the update.
Pia says
Get well soon! Another Kinsmen novel would be great. Have reread them several times. So very good. Wish you all the best.
Katie S. says
Glad things are looking good right now. I did not know drinking milk increases acid production. You may have just helped me with my own tummy troubles. Thinking positive thoughts that you receive a negative mammogram.
Colleen says
Try soaking your oats overnight (or better yet for 24 hours before cooking) – they produce less bloating/gas, take less time to cook, and you can soak them in apple juice if you want to sweeten them up a bit. Cook them with more water, so they have more liquid, then you need less milk. Also – try the lactose-free milk. No difference in taste that I can perceive, but BIG difference in acid re-flux issues.
BioDeGirl says
If you want to upgrade your oats, try unsweetened vanilla almond milk in the steel cut oats, with a tablespoon of Texas honey. Very tasty and my go to breakfast 🙂 my system doesn’t handle dairy well 🙁 hope you get some relief!
Ilona says
You know, I prefer them more savory with a bit of salt and tiny touch of butter. Not sure why.
Alex R. says
Come on. You know exactly why.
Just like in old country!
Teresa says
I like a little brown sugar or some sugar free maple syrup, Carey’s is great.
Pat Sciarini says
Baked with milk, cinnamon and brown sugar! Yum!
Simone says
Glad the medical news is good so far. Some people have suggested alternate “milks” like almond or soy. My husband has a problem with regular cow’s milk so I got him to try Rice Milk (original, unsweetened) and he likes it for his cereal. The others , like almond, he finds to be too sweet and soy he just does not like its taste.
Looking forward to a pleasant April 1st announcement and more Kinsmen! 🙂
Shannon says
Will there be more books for Hidden Legacy? I love that series…. Actually I love all the series you both have released but my favourites are Kate’s series, Hidden Legacy and Inn Keeper.
Patricia Schlorke says
Yay to more Kinsman! Take care of yourself, Ilona. Let Gordon pamper you, if you let him. Heck, if the majority of the Horde lived near you, you probably would go up the wall because we would take very good care of you. ?
Roxann says
My Mom had the same problem with her throat. It turns out the acid re-flux was also eating away at the enamel on her back teeth, which is now causing her problems. You might want to watch for that.
Barbara erwin says
I’m sorry your throat is uncomfortable. I solved my overactive stomach acid problem by drinking 8 oz of alkaline water every day. It’s available at H-E-B and I was surprised to find that it really worked for me!
Toni says
When will the first Kinsmen book be re-released? I’ve been wanting to read it but can find it no where, and I can’t read the second w/o reading the first ?☹️
PM says
Have you tried Pepsin GI for the stomach issues? Read the reviews on Amazon. I found through the “how I cured my gastritis” website and it helped get me off the PPI’s (which caused side effects as bad as the gastritis). Doesn’t work for everyone but worth investigating.
Henry says
A new kinsman will be great. Thank you. It’s sounds dry, try a small amount first. Applesauce with Multigrain Spoon Sized Shredded Wheat. It’s consistency is similar to yogurt and cereal. Several years ago my PC Physician recommended it. I dislike all the faux and watered milks. I also use applesauce with my homemade granola.
Henry says
Didn’t check auto correct. Should be its not it’s. It took two tries to get this one correct.
Henry says
I have yet to eliminate all the incorrect contractions above. I must be very careful when I type a t with an s following. … It sounds dry … Its consistency …
Elena says
I used to take Prilosec daily until it started giving me blinding headaches. Apparently, that’s an issue with that whole class of drugs, but I’ve been able to take Prevacid instead for a few years now. Recently, I started taking this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RH5K26I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
And I’m amazed at how much less acid indigestion I have now that I’m digesting my food.
I hope you find something that makes you feel better so that you can spend more time writing?
Lauren says
Adding my voice to the BDH “more kinsman”! Yes please.
Alice says
Is it to early to ask if there will be an audiobook for Hugh book? More kinsman – yes please :)!
S. Dhawan says
If you like cereal with milk you can still have it just use rice or almond milk. If you don’t like those there is also soya or coconut milk.
Tania says
Did they assess for eosinophilic eosophagitis? It is more on the radar of a gastro or immunologist than an ent. It is often found in ppl with allergies, heartburn, food intolerances, swallowing difficulties. Best assessed histologically via biopsy. If it is, consult with a food allergy dietitian is the way to go after DX.
Are the kinsmen books on audio?
Maia says
wheee, kinsman! ^^
week will be over you wont even know why. i am holding my thumbs and thinking positive energy to you! ^^
Karen the Griffmom says
“Holding my thumbs” is such a marvelous phrase – I’ve always wondered about the backstory. 😉

Bill G says
So far, so good; may it continue so.

Unsolicited recommendation for your throat – I had the same issues before beginning to follow aprimal/paleo diet. Went from three Zantacs and untold rolaids daily to none in three days. Over about five years I’ve cycled three times back to the SAD diet, back to the reflux and inflammation, then back to paleo. Each time, it only takes 2-3 days for the reflux and inflammation to disappear. (yes, I’m a slow learner)
Finger’s crossed for a great mammogram report for you.
Nancy C. says
the Kinsmen series!! I can’t tell you how many times I have read those two stories. Thank you so much for the update. And for the periodic health reminders. ❤️❤️❤️
katje says
Nothing growing, nothing rotting is good! Fingers crossed that you’ll get more information and maybe milk will be back on the table in the quantities you want to drink it in.
Also. SQUEEEE KINSMEN!
Donna Munro says
I love cheese..that said, too much and I have problems. But with milk I can only drink a very small amount, less than a cup. I have found that I am able to tolerate unsweet almond milk much better and I don’t have issues from it. It tastes fine in cereal. Yes, you have to kinda get used to it, but it is not horrible. Surprising my kids like it too. I still cook with reg milk and it works out without problems for me and I have no effects from it. I never had problems with milk when younger but as I age it has cropped up. Just thought it might help you. Glad all else is good, I love reading your thoughts and books.
Meg says
I’ve had similar problems with similar solutions. Almond milk or almond/coconut milk for cereal, coco, etc. Cook with 2% milk and am fine. Watch my cheese and other dairy intake as well. Good Probiotics having helped a lot too. Hope you are feeling better soon. Love your writing but would really really like to hear about how settled and well you are feeling (soon) too. Sending healing light your way.
Ara says
I can’t do dairy either…my favorite not milk is Almond Breeze almond & coconut blend for cereal and Nada Moo for ice cream. Good luck!
Diane A Bloechl says
Good luck with the mammogram. It was almost 1 year ago this month I had a mammogram. This led to a 2nd, then an ultrasound, then a biopsy, then a lumpectomy, then chemo and radiation therapy. I had almost forgotten to schedule a mammogram until my doctor reminded me. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of getting annual mammograms. I sincerely hope your report is clear.
TKD says
I’ve just started reading your blog, coming late to the party and finding Maud’s story recently. Keeping my fingers crossed for your health. But OMG 3rd Kinsman book?!? I keep re-reading the first two so many times. When I start feeling a little depressed I just go back and re-read all your books – so thanks for making me feel better.
Marianne says
I am glad the ENT didn’t find any lesions or such – and hope some diet changes (breakfast) resolve the throat irritation. I know the wait for the mammogram results is difficult, but at least you have the procedure behind you. A funny cartoon I once saw depicted a machine for a mammogram-like test, but for men. I will leave it unsaid as to what male body part goes on the examination platform and gets squished while the image is being taken. The look on the face of the man in the cartoon and wearing an examination gown as he approached the machine was priceless!! Just the thought had me chuckling aloud with evil delight!! All I have to do is remember that cartoon and think of my husband having to do that, and my getting a mammogram suddenly is not a problem at all! ? Of course, I doubt many men would get the test done, no matter how important it might be in early detection of serious conditions.
I hope you get your result quickly and that it is good news!! Waiting for the results is always nerve-racking, but it seems like you have enough irons in the fire to keep you busy and your mind distracted (at least I hope so). Please let your loyal horde know when you do get your results back so we can all sigh in relief (see, I am anticipating a good result) and remove that from the load of concerns that we carry around.
More Kinnsmen? YAY!! Of course, more of anything from you both is cause for much celebration! ????. Thank you for ALL you give your fans – you are extremely generous to your readers, and it is much appreciated!!
Marianne says
Poops! Please excuse the misspelling. Kinsmen – NOT Kinnsmen. ?
Debi McCarthy says
Love to see more Kinsmen!! Both were great, but the backstory for Silver Shark was especially compelling.
Thanks for the mammogram (or smashogram to be more accurate) reminder.
Emily07 says
Try Almond Milk.
Margaret says
Just wanted you guys to know how much your hard work is appreciated. All the good stuff you give us for free, snippets, out takes and a wonderful serialized stories.
Glad your medical stuff is all done. Enjoy your day.
Reema says
Was “Swine and Roses” set in the Kinsman world? Or was that more like a Hidden Legacy world?
KarinL says
It feels more like a version of the Hidden Legacy world to me.
It’s one of my favourites to re-read on a gloomy day. 🙂
But *yeah* for a new kinsman story!! (Even one on the far, far, FAR horizon!! LOL!!)
vinity says
I’m glad the ENT didn’t find anything. I hope you feel better soon. It’s been a pretty stressful….well, really long time. I know finishing the Kate books was major hard.
I look forward to new Kinsman. I’ll have to do a re-read. I know I have them, hopefully on my kindle.
Also, I caught the forum up. Sorry to let it get behind the last couple months. It’s mostly quiet and I let it go too long while i was dealing with this stupid back of mine and my sis issues.
Mar says
I have beat my acid throat problem with hot water and lemon juice and zest first thing in the morning and last thing at nite. no longer taking stomach meds. also my TCMP(traditional chinese medical practitioner) told me about nasal spray that is saline and xlitol called xlear, my sinuses and throat feel healed. cheers good luck with mammogram, I have my 6 month check for suspicous masses diagnostic mammo and ultra sound next week and am praying for good news. Heart Hugs
Shannon from Texas says
Interesting. I chew Xylitol gum by Xlear for dry mouth caused by all the meds I take for my RA and mental health. My dentist recommended it b/c the dry mouth was affecting my teeth. It helps, too.
My prayers for your peaceful tests and good results next week.
Kathryn Holland says
Just be careful using xylitol when you have pets—it’s highly toxic to dogs and possibly cats as well. Humans can process it but it causes liver failure in many animals. We lost our beloved pug to xylitol-flavored gum.
Jean Reads says
Hope the medical news is good! I have very unfond memories of my ENT visits, but the mammograms (I like to call the squishograms) have never particularly bothered me.
I use hot water, honey, and apple cider vinegar for my sore throats. (And sometimes Flonase for my sinuses). Hope you feel better soon!
Lisa says
More unsolicited thoughts…I use So Delicious unsweetened coconut milk with my steel cut oats for breakfast…it has little flavor but the same consistency as 2% milk and with all the add ins like blueberries and macadamia nuts I don’t notice. We are pretty dairy free in our house well except for some cheese…can’t give up all the good stuff ya know…LOL.
Liz says
I keep trying to find the Kinsman books. Are they on amazon??
trailing wife says
_Silver Shark_, Kinsman #2, can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Silver-Shark-Kinsmen-Book-2-ebook/dp/B005N9FPOO/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1520649560&sr=8-32&keywords=ilona+andrews. I’m not sure what happened to the first book — I have it on my device, but it doesn’t seem to be on Amazon at the moment.
Catlover says
The only way I like oatmeal is in cookies. I steam a cup of quinoa and when it is done add one cup of chopped nuts, a cup of chopped dehydrated fruit, and cinnamon to taste. Stir it up and put the cover on and let set without heat until the nuts and fruit have time to soften. Lots of good protein that is satisfying. I warm it with milk or almond milk and in the summer cold with flavored yogurt . I can make it through a work shift without snacking so it has been good for my waistline too.
GailinPgh says
A while ago, you mentioned in a blog post that a third Kinsmen novella would let you bundle them into one book for publication. That would be great if it happens.
Zuzana says
Fingers crossed for your results. I had a scan when I was breastfeeding and found a lump. The waiting was horrendous.
Hope your throat gets better soon.
Kinsman would be great. I love Silver Shark.
Jolia says
thanks this post – very good ^_^
Heather says
Have you tried your oatmeal savory? I’m Scottish and I give you permission! 🙂
Here’s how to skip the sugar and enjoy…
To a bowl of hot steel cut oats add a good glug of olive oil (or avocado oil, my favorite). Next a good grind of fresh black pepper. This is a must. We add freshly grated Asiago or Parmesan cheese but you can bypass it if dairy is an issue. Some people like to top with a fried egg.
But don’t take my word for it… https://familystylefood.com/steel-cut-oats-pecorino-and-poached-egg/

Kinsman!
It is amazing to watch an idea grow into a tale, a story, a world, as characters pop up and tell their tale in a culture.
It is nail biting, foot tapping impatience, to await post writing production’s processing to delivery.
Doctor visits; fear before, exams, cultures, fear after; treatments, modern/holistic. The whole nothing to fear but . . . is no longer quite true. Good news being proactive does work best, learn this one of yo mama’s last lessons. Grow strong through your anger. Blessed be.
Marian Bernstein says
This is a good breakfast. I don’t know if Almond milk will give you the same trouble. The fruit can be varied and it cooks overnight. https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/overnight-cherry-almond-oatmeal
Debbie Brown says
It is put forth by some organic ideology doctors, that heartburn symptoms come from not enough sleep. If you are wanting milk, Organic Valley has this lovely Full Fat Non-homogenized or if possible try raw milk, as it’s got immune boosting qualities that pasteurizing kills the good bacteria as well as the bad. Personally have found that milk from cows run factory-wise seem to put out milk that caused stomach cramps & other nasty symptoms that organic & raw don’t. Trying to reduce my allergies with the milk and getting 7 hours minimum of sleep quelled the heartburn was experiencing a few years ago.
Emmy Hage says
Hi, Have you tried Rice Milk? Cold, First time I tried it, I though, this is what milk is supposed to taste like. (Really milk always tastes slightly sour to me.) I like the original unsweetened, no flavors. We use it for everything where it will be cold. Don’t heat it. It then tastes like hay. For hot drinks and cooking, we use hemp milk. Little creamer than rice milk and really not a lot of difference in flavor from milk.
Ana María says
Clean Sweep was the first Illona Andrews book I read, and from there, have read everything I have been able to get my hands on. Have bought everything, and read all the wonderful free stories on the website. Silver Shark is one of my favorites, and seeing it identified as Kinsmen 2, have gone crazy looking for Kinsmen 1. Where can I find that? Anywhere? Help…
Susan says
Silent Blade is the first Kinsman book but, strangely, it’s not currently showing up on Amazon (US).
Eegoolina says
I’m sorry you still don’t feel well. I hope everything works out.❤️
Ariel says
You poor thing. I also had a dairy issue and found almond milk worked for me. I hope you find out what helps you to feel better because acid reflux is horrible! Maybe take it out on a character with a dairy allergy who gets bad acid reflux. Anyway, hang in there!

Writing question: when you get an idea for a book and you are writing nother one on deadline, do you take a minute to write down the new idea before going to work on the deadline? I love the kinsman stories so much, I would hate for you to forget it!
My niece and I were talking about your books a family dinner tonight. She loves the edge series. Just thought you would want to know. And she thinks your world building is superior, worth paying full price for. She’s a hoot, but I am really proud of her.

On the milk alergy/acid thing. I get a gradual build up of fluids in my sinuses from even skim milk and it gravitates to my ear canal. When the pressure gets bad I stop putting milk in my tea. After 3 or 4 weeks, the pressure is gone, and I go back to putting skim milk in my tea, until I finally get earaches, then I stop, and then start all over again. I suppose I could take medicine of some sort (sudafed). But I’d rather avoid the medicine route and just stop milk until I clear up.
