ASU WORKSHOP
We agreed to increase the size of the workshop to get everyone on the waiting list in. Please think of your questions carefully because time will be limited. 🙂 If you were waiting to sign up, run over, because there maybe slots left with the new larger class size.
T-SHIRTS
Awhile ago Jéssica, who frequents the blog and Facebook fan group, posted beautiful artwork with our quote, and everyone agreed it would make an awesome T-shirt. We gave our permission for the use of the quote. Her shop is now up.
My original plan was a T-shirt, but I saw the mug and was tempted.
RYDER
We are very sorry, but Ryder has to stop. The state of publishing is in flux, because the number of printers has shrunk. COVID and other, previously existing problems have forced some of them to close, and others are experiencing materials and labor shortages. Because of this, our deadlines became extremely tight. If you lose your place in line, the book doesn’t come out.
Our publisher is putting pressure on us to produce the first third of Hidden Legacy 3 by mid-October, so they can begin the process. If we don’t do this, we will have to move Catalina’s third book, and it’s highly likely it won’t come out in 2021.
We’ve been writing Ryder very carefully, trying to minimize the amount of editing we will have to do, so the story in the book wouldn’t be very different from the story posted online. Because of this, we are writing at half speed. We have to pick up the pace to finish the first draft by the end of August, so we can immediately shift gears onto Hidden Legacy. We can’t do that and continue posting. Especially not with the promo schedule for Emerald Blaze.
I’m sorry, guys. We know this was a bright spot for many of you. Unfortunately, we have to do 2K a day or there won’t be a Ryder release in January.
This doesn’t mean we won’t post any more Ryder, just that it won’t be every week scene by scene. We know it sucks, so we will continue to post snippets as we go along, but they might not be in any chronological order.
We had so much fun stuff planned, like the reveal of why the kids hate Ascanio and meeting with Ghastek and Rowena, and so on, and we were very excited to bring it to you. We get the biggest kick out of watching the comment threads spin wild. But we promised you a book and we have to do our best to deliver.
We are leaving comments open so you can vent. Again, this wasn’t ideal, as we expected to have more time, but we have to do the best we can.
Heather says
I will take it when I get it, your work is awesome either way. Thank you
Rachel says
You’re doing what you have to do to get us more books… we love you for it. We’ll wait and love every delicious moment of it. As my kiddo would say… you do you boo.

Salena says
I agree!
Liesl says
We at least got to see Derek and Julie. I am very happy about that. If Ryder has to stop being posted while you get caught up, so be it. I’ll read the snippets with glee and wait anxiously for the finished product to be available to buy.

What Rachel said.
Take care of you. Less stress is best, and your books are awesome.
Thank you for explaining “Why”– takes the frustration / confusion/ and wondering out of it and puts it in the realm of “makes sense, manufacturing issues are happening everywhere.”
Please stay safe and limit your stress as much as possible. (We are always here for a good, clean joke if you need one.)
Jacquie says
What she said. You take care of you. We’ll survive. You spoil us and we appreciate it.
Sjik says
Okay, JT above said always here for a ‘good, clean joke’ and then immediately below it the first reply from Jacquie reads ‘What she said’. That is comedic timing.

Exactly, well put Heather ????
It’s been lovely having chapters go up (and yes they really brighten the day), but everyone gets (one would hope) that we all have have to adapt to the times (publishing too, and we all want books in the future after all, so we hope the businesses survive), that we all must take good care of ourselves (which includes prioritizing our health and balancing and managing our energy and time wisely), and from a selfish point of view I totally support whatever you do that keeps your amazing books coming ????
Take care everyone ♥️

Tina in NJ says
When the pandemic shuts down the bookstores and the libraries, it has to affect publishing. And this means we get more Hidden Legacy sooner (?).
Lora Tyler says
Thank you immensely for all you do! No pressure here. I am just happy to share in all of your writings. Keep up the good work, guys.
Jann says
It was a fun ride. And I appreciate what Ryder chapters that we have received. Your generosity and patience with the hoard has been wonderful. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Take care of yourselves. We can be patient, and you did give us the Derek scene. As a final note. Squeeeeee about all the fun stuff planned. I’ll be looking forward to the book.

Definitely sad not to get the weekly, but not at all sad to get the finished book faster! My impatient little heart is actually quite pleased with this news, honestly.
So many thanks to you two for open communication and delightful, amazing, thoughtful characters who are powerful, honorable, and snarky AF.
Jackie H says
Thank you for all your hard work and your devotion to your readers. I can certainly understand you need to protect your deadlines for your planned projects. I look forward to reading the rest of Ryder when it is completed 🙂

I mean – yes, life sucks right now in so many ways I can’t count. But knowing that I’ll be holding a new book in my hands in just a few weeks – then another hopefully in January!!! – that’s wonderful. I can’t also expect immediate gratification.
Thanks for the update. It helps manage our expectations. Stay safe.
Kaylee says
Ryder has been such a bright spot, but knowing that we’ll be getting another book in the KD world is ALSO a bright spot.
Thank you for your transparency, and for giving me something to look forward to in a year when that’s been hard to find.
Take care of yourselves.
Megan says
Totally understand! focus on what you need to do. Looking forward to both books!!
Natalia Szpurko says
I am so grateful for everything. I will humbly wait and enjoy everything, whenever it will be convenient. I Love Ryder, it is worth waiting for. Simple as that. I hope, you will be happy and fulfilled even if it sound like pain in the bottom, that you have to speed up!
Sarah says
No venting here. You don’t complain that a gift freely given has to come to an end. Thank you for the amazing chapters we’ve had and look forward to the finished work. Hang in there, House Andrews – we’ll be waiting for you on the other side. xo

As awesome as Ryder is, none of it is more important than your sanity and mental health, and I’m just excited that it exists at all! Can’t wait for the book!
Cerulean says
Exactly. Prioritize your mental and physical health first! We’re happy to see the book sooner and to know Ryder will eventually be in our BDH hands. It’s like the marshmallow test for delayed gratification. I’ll take the two marshmallows later in lieu of the one marshmallow right now!
Scott Martin Martin says
It stinks that there won’t be much Ryder but please don’t feel bad its your fault this just how things are for now. Please don’t let any one make you feel bad over this situation just keep doing what your doing and things will work out.best to your family
Dawn says
THANK-YOU for what you’ve posted so far and for the explanation of why you won’t be continuing. This will give us plenty of opportunity to exercise our patience muscle!
Cherylanne Farley says
Ok here it comes DUCK! Smackie kisses and many thanks. You’re right you guyz helped a LOT. Tough painful week read last one everyday. Favorite images removing boots and the face peel. We still stand with you. You’ve had a difficult stretch and carried us thru. Set and defend your boundaries. Honor your commitments. Ignore that drooling sound you hear in the background hehehe. We wait. BEE well.
Kristine says

Gem says
January will be here in no time thanks to quarantine! Thank you for the first 11 chapters 🙂
Kate says
Whatever you have to do, you have our full support. This is the best, most informative blog of any writer I follow (which is saying something #nerdalert), and we appreciate your updates!
Beth says
Most important that you honor your commitments to deadlines. While I have enjoyed the weekly snippets, I am an adult and can wait until January…impatiently, but I can di it. Best wishes to both of you. I am sure this is very stressful.
Heike says
That’s absolutely okay. You are earning your living with your books. Therefore you are in charge of what’s most important.
Liz.V says
While hearing you would not be able to finish Ryder at the present is disappointing, the current state of the world in general is causing so many changes it’s understandable.
Don’t beat yourself up too much over this completely unpredictable event.
Your written commitments take priority so you can continue to be viable in the publishing world and that’s what (mostly, I assume) pays the bills so again, completely understandable.
I’ll continue to support in whatever way I can and look forward to what comes in the future. Stay safe. <3
Arianna says
Thank you for everything! Don’t worry, snippets are most welcome too ????
And we will have Emerald Blaze in late august to keep us happy ????
If this is way that delivers the best work, I’m sure we can be patient and appreciate your wonderful world when we can read it ????
Sophia says
But…but…Ryder was like super mega bonus extra, why should you even be sorry! You have to meet deadlines and get things published. Most of us are just grateful that you exist AND continue writing AND (although this is a more of a personal point) you don’t have series that go on for a hundred gazillion books that don’t end..
Thank you all for everything you do for your fans. We really appreciate it.
Céline says
I will miss the weekly thrill of the Ryder post and all the wild guesses and speculations of the BDH. But I am so grateful for the books and amazing stories you are giving us. I love Ryder and will buy it as soon has it becomes available.
Emma says
I somehow doubt that the lack of new ryder material will stop the wild guesses and speculations of the BDH – just gives us longer to make the theories and predictions more detailed and to entrench our positions!!
Linda_T27 says
+1 (hehe!)
Sivi says
lol agree 100% one of the posts above talked around battening hatches and we’d be standing with HA’s.
I’m thinking that as time progresses the BHD speculations and theories, may indeed split the hoard into enclaves behind different theories, which will result in entrenched debating warfare as various theories are lobbed about like hand grenades…..
Sorry spinning off into the theory ether…
Michelle M says
Going to miss the chapters but let’s face it those are extras and the true prize is a strong novel the authors are satisfied with in the end. Focus on getting all your work completed (more things for your fans to read) but don’t give up on the blog – I love the dog photos and stories and the recipes. I signed up for some of your tour dates so that will give me something to look forward to as it relates to all things Ilona Andrews. Have a fantastic and safe weekend.
Variel says
+1 for dog stories and recipes. Who doesn’t enjoy a cute pup pic and some delicious looking food.
Take care of yourselves and thank you for all the lovely stories.
LW says
Love you guys and you’ve been suffering a lot, so no complaints from me. I will cast a tiny side-eye over torturing us with the cancelled ‘fun stuff’….
Kathleen says
If no snippets mean getting your books quicker, don’t post nothin’!
Lauren says
It’s ok…we can do cliffhangers, knowing there will be a book in a little bit. To quote a wise man “ It is what it is.” Thank you for all you do for your readers!
Best wishes, and Happy Writing
Clarissa Pulotu says
Thank you so much for everything you give us! Totally willing to wait for the book.
Cindy says
There should be no venting or anyone being upset. This is your living and unfortunately the world is not what it was 8 or 9 months ago. I personally will read whatever and whenever you can put it out. at what pace you need it to be. We are your loyal fans and as such we also need to understand the world in which YOU two have to work in is totally different from the one most of us have to work with. May the force be with you both and we will be here waiting.
Gwen says
I’m loving the Ryder story but it totally understandable that you need to focus on the next book. I’m just so grateful that you both are still writing at all under the current circumstances. Thank you for all that you do and take care.
Anna N says
I’m with the others here. It’s hard enough for authors and publishers. I’m happy that we got to see Julie-Aurelia, and that last part with Derek was amazing. I’m excited for the next Hidden Legacy and I both can’t and can wait til January for Ryder. The snippets will be enough for me and in the meantime, maybe I’ll do a few rereads. Thanks for bringing back her story!
Carrie Bartkowiak says
You two do what you need to do. We’ll still be here.
Hopefully we’ll get to read those fun moments for Julie whenever the book is published, and I know I’ll be happy with that. I’m sure there will be thousands of silent lurkers who will *also* be perfectly happy with that.
This is what puts food on the table for House Andrews, so if y’all need to buckle down and go radio silent for a while, we get it. We do. {{{HUGS}}}
Anna S says
Jéssica’s work is amazing ❤
Regarding Ryder, we love you guys regardless of what happens. ❤ I am glad we have a place to share our wild theories and that you two enjoy them.
Thank you for being open and honest. We are all spoiled by you. Sending lots of virtual hugs and support!
Beth says
I’m so excited that so many different books are in progress! I really enjoy all of your series, although KD books are my very fav. I can’t WAIT to hear why the kids are so mad as Ascanio. It will be fun when it comes out. Thanks for all the joy your bring, write on!

Thank you so much for giving us something to look forward to! I have so enjoyed the regular Ryder entries, they have truly been a bright spot. Now I just have something a little further down the line to look forward to. So many reveals and a-ha moments to speculate about between now and January. And as Amy says, time to go on a rereading binge.
JoZell says
I appreciate your communication. This year has been so crazy so the publishing crunch does not surprise me. I am looking forward to the complete Ryder book as well as the Completed Hidden Legacy Arc – All great things!!! With your crazy life this year I respect your diligence to keeping up on the future books!

My heart stopped until I got to “We have to pick up the pace to finish the first draft by the end of August”. Phew! Ryder is a wonderful story and I am so glad you are working on it, snippets or no. Thank you.

Thank you for posting what you already have. While I enjoy reading the Ryder snippets I would rather have the book. I’ve got my book preordered through B&N and can’t wait to curl up & read all of it!!
Allison says
Love you and understand that this is not your fault. You need to keep the other series of books readers happy as well.
I will wait patiently (well maybe :-)) for the next installment or snippet.
Thank you for sharing these with us.
Erica Conner says
So crushed when I read about Ryder but just knowing that I will have a full book to read makes it worth it. You guys are awesome and we could have never predicted how the world was going to change with all of this. Thanks guys for everything you do!
Aerin says
Part of me I’d disappointed, but I will be happy to have a whole book in January for Ryder. I am so grateful for what you have released so far. I look forward to taking a day or two off just to read it and freak out online with everyone else in January!
Sakinah says
Everyone is having to adjust-Ryder was a treat for us, and I’m thankful the book is still on pace for January. Also I really want Catalina 3 in 2021! I see it as two books in 2021 instead of potentially worst case none! The online posting was truly great and fun, but I’ll take 2 finished books over that any day!
But if you see fit to post a snippet on why the kids hate Ascanio, I wouldn’t object!!
Also I kind of like that I will have to wait for the book to see if Derek knows it is Julie or not!
Pristine says
Wouldn’t object to! Ascanioo ;;–;;
Lisa Sussenberger says
I’m thrilled you aren’t completely ditching it. I’m waiting to buy it, so there is hope 🙂

From my perspective, each post that you put up is a gift. It is not something you “owe” me. So – thank you for your writing. It is a bright spot in a challenging world. I wish you calm and focus, and hope that your fans can give you the space you need. No apologies are necessary.
Take care. Always.
Joyce says
Posting these chapters was always a gift that you graciously extended to us. We appreciate your heart and how you lifted ours.Sometimes life demands more than we have to give and you have to prioritize. We have all been there.
I pray blessings on you and your family in proportion to the way you have blessed all of us. You have given us a taste and we will be waiting with bated breath for January.
Thank You
Marianne says
Perfectly put!!! +1,000,000
You maintain your professionalism and integrity, while constantly looking our for and considering the feelings of your fans. It isn’t a wonder that you do have such a large and loyal fan base! You earn it, with your amazing books, your accessibility to your fans, your hard work, and simply by being who you two are. I think your generosity to your fans is unparalleled, and I am appreciative of how willing you are to help other authors (or budding authors) by sharing your expertise. For example, your workshop on world-building. There are many people who excel at something, but are unwilling to help other’s do the same, and keep their process and skills a jealously guarded secret! Your often demonstrated readiness to aid others in your area of expertise, showcases your true generosity of spirit! I am not an author, or even a budding author (I attempted that years ago and found that is not something I am good at!), but I can still appreciate your inclination to share your knowledge and considerable skills.
Thank you for all that you do for your fans. Thank you for continuing to write and produce books that are so enjoyable. Thank you for taking the time and effort to explain something you don’t have any obligation to give any reason or explanation for. Thank you for all the gifts you give your fans. Some people have commented in the past that you don’t give “gifts” to your fans, that everything you do is geared toward enticing people to purchase your publications, and I think this workshop you are doing is a great example that they are WRONG. But, even if they were correct, what is the harm in that? You are writers by profession, and that is what you do to support your family. So “Nah nahnny boo boo” to them! ????
Your loyal BDH will thankfully accept whatever and whenever you choose to share with us!! If you get to feeling stressed, take a few minutes and go back and read some of the comments written on this blog. It should lift your spirits and maybe give you a bit of renewed energy.
Once again, thank you for all you do. We will wait for as long as we need to, in order to receive the next jewel that is the fruit of House Andrew’s labor.
Ann Wilson says
Happy to get it when it arrives. ????????
Kerris says
Totally understandable!! We appreciate how difficult covid has made things and are happy to wait. Looking forward to the virtual tour!
Serena says
While Ryder definitely is a bright spot for me, I’d rather forgo it than cause you guys more stress. We’re all finding ourselves in tough spots and having to make unexpected adjustments! And expecting ourselves to adhere to “normalized” deadlines with today’s current events isn’t reasonable. This decision could not have been easy but I’m glad you made it! You guys need to do what’s best for you. I’ll still be here, supporting and rooting from the sidelines 🙂
I can’t deny I’m excited that snippets of Ryder are still going to be posted. It must be a lot to juggle with everything else going on, though. Looking forward to anything you are able to share with us! In a way, this makes me more excited for when the Ryder book is published — I know I have new content to look forward to! January isn’t too far away and if you find yourselves needing to push Ryder’s date back I think most people will understand! I live by the philosophy that good things come in time, so whenever it is that I get to hold Ryder in my hands, I will be over the moon 🙂
Sending House Andrews nothing but good thoughts and positivity and love!
Kelly says
Agreed, absolutely. I love this book, and I will be thrilled about any new snippets, but I support your decision 100 percent. Plus, it gives me something to look forward to!
Lisa says
The Ryder book is already preordered so I’m good with snippets whenever you can. You have to do what is best for you. 🙂
Zirraella says
I am so sad and disappointed :'(
But at least the book didn’t get cancelled, so there is a silver lining somewhere far far away on the horizon, right? Right?!
Stacy Jackson says
I thank House Andrews for the wonderful Ryder treats!! I look forward to new books!! Breathless with antici… Pation!! * and trying not to turn blue*????????????????????????
Connie says
Bummer, but I understand and know you are always doing your best to produce solid work. I appreciate your efforts and look forward to reading it.

You do what you have to do! I love the serial releases, but actually prefer a complete book that I can devour in one sitting and no sleep!
Please take care of yourselves in this crazy time! I will continue to auto buy anything with your name on it, as I have never been disappointed!
Sending love and prayers!
Tawnya Johnson says
You do you Boo! Everything will be worth the wait.
EarlineM says
You guys are amazing, kind and thoughtful!!! Just the fact that you’re angsting about not being able to do Ryder like you started is an example of that. I’ll read anything you write, whenever it’s posted/dropped, and so will the rest of the BDH. I just want you guys to do what works for you, so that we keep getting these amazing stories. How you continue to write with all the crazy going on is beyond me, so hats off to you for whichever format we get!!! Thanks for the escape worlds! Sometimes on the freeway in Houston I imagine one of your scenarios and it makes me laugh out loud! Can you imagine traffic if that was a regular occurance? Channel 13 would have a field day! Thanks again…

I am so appreciative of what you have posted. I will never complain when business interferes with you giving us free stuff. You two and your writing are a gift.

We appreciate everything you give us. Most of us understand about deadlines and being at the mercy of “the powers that be” ????
Laura says
Is ok, honest! You guys do what you need to and the BDH will wait patiently…ok, semi-patiently! But we know everything will be wonderful in the end because you guys rock!
Claire says
This is how you make a living and as much as I love Ryder, when a book is released impacts your income and your relationship with your publisher.
We shall devour snippets with great relish & much speculation!
Erika Williamson says
I rather have the book on time, because I’m so excited to start this next journey of KD world. Thank you so much for sharing it & getting us readdicted to it.
Mike says
This must really suck for you to make this decision.
We all know how much you hate to disappoint the BDH but you have contractual obligations for Catalina and that has to factor into your decisions.
My worst thought when I read the first couple of lines was Ryder was completely out of the schedule which freaked me out some what but if we’re still going to get it in the future then I will happy dance that it will come in time.
Negative comments are an unfortunate side affect of social media so I’m hoping you don’t get any but if you do then you don’t take them to heart.
Thanking you as always for the words you give us
Evil Jenny says
I am excited for everything that you’ve got going. I’d rather have you hit deadlines and get the whole story faster than a week by week.
Not saying I won’t miss it, but…. 🙂
Anne says
I’m disappointed, of course, because I love everything you’ve done with Ryder. But I will never be upset about you prioritizing other tasks, especially when they’re the ones paying the bills! I’ll take whatever you give us and be grateful and happy!
Ardelle Hughes says
I would rather have the complete book then not as its an amazing series and I have been waiting FOREVER for Derek and Julie to have a book. You guys do amazing work and are amazing story tellers and need to be paid for your work which means publishing. So nope not mad that you gotta change it up so you can make your deadlines. Good luck and happy writing
Ann says
This is fair and fine. You’ve left us at a good point. Happy writing!
Breann says
Thank you so much for what you’ve already posted for Ryder! It’s really appreciated!
You do what you need to do and we’ll deal.
While I’m looking forward to it in January, if you need to focus on other things and push Ryder out farther (I’m thinking that since it might be a self- published book, changing the date wouldn’t be as bad as a contract date? ????♀️ But I might be mistaken.) so you don’t have to rush, it would be completely understandable! I’d rather you have joy in the process and the have the finished work that you imagined, rather than you feel like it’s a chore and the book doesn’t get to where you want it to go.
All that aside, snippets of ANY work are always welcome whether they make sense chronologically or not. ????
Susie Q. says
+1. Do what you need to do. As a member of the BDH while I am a crazy addict, I’m more interested in your staying as sane and healthy as you can be. Happy and healthy House Andrews equal future books and an occasional snippet. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR KEEPING US IN THE LOOP. Not knowing why a series is abandoned or an author dissapeared is extremely frustrating. Best always. The BDH will wait with a n occasional whimper.
Sophie says
As much as I look forward to and love the serial, I am super stoked for an actual Julie book. No matter how I get it. I also love Catalina so I wouldn’t want a delay there either. How could we be upset that you guys are doing things to make sure your readers get the most things to read from you?? Always so appreciative of your transparency! Thanks for always putting out great work that draws me in instantly 🙂
Kalli says
“The end of Ryder” scared me. Then I read on to see it will come out in January. So it’s just a delay. Last year we had no idea there would be a Julie book. So, thank you for your books, your snippets, and your generosity. Stay safe, take care, and we’ll read whatever you give us.
Janelle says

Kris says
No venting. This is an unusual year and let’s face it, sh*t happens! Do what you need to. I will patiently await whatever you can give us and look forward to the full book.
Mary says
Thank you for the bright spot in this pandemic. I look forward to the books you have coming our way! You guys have been more than generous with your fan-dom!
RabidReader says
The contracted books are how you make your living. After family, that comes next in importance. Distributing candy to the BDH comes last. Believe us, it’s always worth the wait.
Deep breaths.
Al says
I hope we still get all these things (Asciano, etc) but just have to wait. I’ve been waiting years, I can wait a while longer.
I can’t figure out the waitlist though, it’s letting me actually click through unlike last night but when I get to the section to choose if I want to add to the student or regular waitlist, the button doesn’t work :’( I’ve tried it on mobile and desktop.
Anyone have any luck??
Al says
Oh update in case anyone else struggles! There’s a hyperlink to click that is entirely separate for the waitlist. Hoping a spot opens up!!
Ash says
It’s ok! It’s a lot of work. Thank you for what you’ve shared!! Can’t wait for the book to come out. I’ve already pre ordered. Also looking forward to Catalinas book. Thanks again.
Jen says
Bummed we won’t get the weekly story, but really, what can you do? COVID-19 is screwing up everything for everyone. Not your fault in any way. Y’all do what you have to, and we will all be waiting here with bated breath for Ryder and HL 3 and anything else you choose to share with us.
Ari says
Thanks for being real with us. I will read whatever you publish whenever you publish it. At the end of the day we all have to do what’s best for ourselves and our families. I hope the rest of your fan-base has similar sentiments and apprecaites all you do.
Jenny says
It’s just more to look forward to! It’ll be grand. Take your time. It’ll all get done eventually. Hope everyone with you is feeling well, and thank you for all the previous Ryder chapters.
Karen says
For real, as a reader I am thrilled to get Ryder however I can get my hands on it. I’ve pre ordered & if your publisher wants pre orders for Catalina’s book, sign me up.
Thanks for your dedication to your readers!!!!
Nanik says
Thank you for writing, for creating the most amazing stories!
Poockie says

Leon Robbins says
I will read anything you write in any order.. ????
Janelle says
So we might get Catalina book 3 next year too?Omg y’all are awesome. Thank you for exciting you do.
Janelle says
I meant everything. My bad.
Lynn says
It sucks, but it’s understandable. Do what you have to do, I’m willing to wait.
Jennifer says
I thank you very much for your generosity, and I look forward to each book as it is published.
Joanne says
Ghastek and Rowena!!! Yay! I will wait however long to read more. We are happy to have anything. Thank you!
Susan says
????????????????????????I am sorry, I can’t help it, ????????????????????????????????????. Can you give us a tiny romantic scene with Derek and Julie? ????????????????????????????????This has been helping me hang on……..
Al says
Here’s to hoping one of the snippets not in chronological order gives us a glimmer of hope!!! +1
Susan says
I am starting to look at book release dates and realizing that I might not be around to read the book. Don’t get me wrong. You need to do what you need to do. I am deeply thankful for your incredible generosity. A tiny snippet, or Derek point of view quote, will help me feel that things will work out for Julie. And maybe that makes me think they will work out for me too.
Liz says
I don’t know what is going on with you, but all my best wishes that it works out well for you.
Susan says
I appreciate your kind response. Many get angry when people vent. You don’t know where people are in their lives. I was caught off guard. I am running out of money. It is extremely scary. I am fortunate because I will not face eviction.I am in better circumstances than many many other people. It is still extremely frightening time.
Joe says
I know the feeling, 74 years old, cancer survivor, severe emphysema, and all the people in my building/tiny city believe, for some strange reason, that we have beat the virus and everything is ok. Well, we should be able to get to Emerald Blaze.
Judith Price says
I agree with all of the nice things people are saying, but I say these emojis and, yeah. I actually cried. Granted, I’m in the Moon Hut, but still. Way more emotionally invested in this story than maybe should be. I don’t want to make anyone feel bad. I guess I should have clues in when I stopped the six year wanted Dresden book to read Ryder 🙂
Random thought (as long as we have internet)—
I support a few other artists on Patreon and if you guys ever needed to balance out a new publishing landscape with a subscription/community based income stream, I’d be there with bells on
Jmh says
Thank you for letting us know. You do your best, we will support you, and look forward to the full release. You treat your fans so well, you deserve the same kindness in return
Brenna says
Life is crazy, do what you gotta do. I think it is astounding how much writing you do and I love all of it. Thank you.
Pam says
Phooey on the ‘venters’. I just appreciate the peeks of what is coming! I was wondering about the printers…I got a book by another writer, and the binding was bad. They are self published, print on demand. You guys rock, and I hope the venters don’t get too over the top.
Manda says
We are greatful for your talent. I’m the baby bird with my mouth open to have Ryder dropped in whenever.
Leon says
Thank you very much for the update. Life happens and plans change. It’s great that you tell us rather then just go quiet or something.
Love your books! I’ll buy it whenever its done 🙂
Kim says
Serials are good, but books are better. And what a scene to leave off on!
Victorria Wytcherley says
Jessica’s work is awesome and I am buying a phone case.
Do what you need to do—we will be here. And I hope Kid 2 is feeling better.
Richard Cartwright says
I sometimes think we readers forget that there is a business side to books. Contractual obligations, promotion, maintaing market share and all the other stuff that goes on behind the curtan. Not to mention that Amazon gets real pissy if you put a book up for preorder and miss the mark. You got to do what you have to do to keep the lords and masters…I mean the pets fed and yourselves sane.
Shawna says
Don’t get burnt out. You gotta pay the bills, feed the pets & keep the lights on. I for one will cheerfully read whatever is posted whenever, and fling money at the books when they come out. Thank you for what you do.
Olivia says
It’s not the first time we’ve had to wait, so we will be just fine. I for one appreciate knowing what’s going on instead of being left in the dark. You guys are really good at not leaving your readers in the dark, and that matters. I am sure many of us will amuse ourselves with reading and rereading what awesomeness you’ve already posted. I think it’s fairly safe to say that the majority of us would prefer an actual book next January rather than waiting until potentially 2022 just to have weekly snippets.
Thanks for all you do!!!
Rebecca says
Sure, I’m disappointed to not get my weekly Ryder fix, but looking at the quote:”We had so much fun stuff planned, like the reveal of why the kids hate Ascanio and meeting with Ghastek and Rowena, and so on, and we were very excited to bring it to you,” I have to say that if we still get the fun stuff in the January release I am going to be happy.
Waiting is super hard for any of the Kate-world books. There are a lot of balls in the air in the Ryder story so far and if it takes more time for them to get a satisfying resolution then it will absolutely be worth waiting for (and I’m selfishly hoping Ryder is a whole novel, so that also takes longer than the novella that was originally mentioned).
We need our Ilona fix but the only way we get that long term is if you can make a living at writing and that means doing what you have to do to be able to be PAID for your labors. Thank you for the extended sneak peek and I am already pre-ordered for the January release!
Stay Well and God Bless!
Valerie T says
Vent vent vent. Ok, that felt good. Now, thanks for the gifts so far (Ryder, Innkeeper, etc) & please take care of you!! (Deadlines /family/etc).
Ps love the dreams & dragons image:)
Jessica Freitas says
thank you!

Cole Cramer says
I’m ecstatic that you’re writing it, regardless of when it comes out. I recall reading a post a while back about how you weren’t going to continue Julie’s story due to complaints about the character, but I loved Julie and thought she was one of several characters that would work perfectly as a POV for further exploring your world. I’m incredibly pleased that you changed your mind. ^.^
Please just keep writing, your work is loved.
Danielle says
Bummer, but more excited to get the full book on time! Thanks for even starting this project. I missed these characters!!
Sharon Fletcher says
Okay. The whole Ryder book and the next 2 Hidden legacy books coming out soonest is the priority in my opinion.
I have loved the Ryder chapters, and have in fact been dissecting the scene in the bathroom in my mind as I have been going through my farm chores. I will adore whatever you can toss our way, but whole books are a priority!
Rose says
It is what it is, my loves. We appreciate what you’ve been able to give us. There’s always re-reading if we feel bored.
Rossana says
Thank you for everything you do, when you do it. It is always generously given and gladly received. I just wish you luck and inspiration for Catalina 3.
Maggie says
I get it. This has been amazing. Do what you do. Do what you need to do. I will always support and am here for every release. Art takes time and effort. And this is your art. Please know you have a cheering section rooting for you.
Still…. JULIE JULIE JULIE JULIE.
Vinity says
I totally understand. It is a gift for you to even offer us any chapters. You do what you have to do.
OMG!! I adore the art. Must have now.
Emily says
*re-reads three or four times*
*looks at title and first sentence*
*re-reads the rest again*
You scared me for a second, I thought you meant you were leaving us on a cliffhanger indefinitely. But if I am reading this correct, Ryder isn’t cancelled, just the weekly chapter posts, so that the full book will be able to be published and you can still meet your other deadlines.
I love getting weekly chapters. It really is a highlight of my day. But the release date of a new book from a favorite author is also an absolute high point, and as long as I know that the rest of the story is coming, I can be patient. Especially if we get snippets once in a while.
Thank you for always being so generous with your creativity!
Nancy says
Loving Ryder but please, do what you need to in order to continue earning a living as writers. Always considered your in-process post a bonus, not a requirement. Looking forward to Hidden Legacy release for my August bday.
Ioanna says
Thank you for writing Julie’s book!
I am sad that I won’t get my weekly fix, because I really was looking forward to it, but I understand, and I can wait until January! (I’d be even happier if Ryder was a trilogy, but no pressure 😛 )
Thank you for giving us the chance to read your amazing work, and I will be looking forward to any Ryder snippets you may post!
NSum says
I’m sad but we’ll get a couple of books in the end.
I’m bummed and a little freaked about the printer shortage. Worrisome for book lovers.
Debra K Hoffmaster says
This is your community. Do what you have to. We will support you. We are glad there will be a book eventually
Linda says
Thank you for Ryder, the rest is worth waiting patiently for.
Cécilia says
“Good Night and Good Luck.” 😉
E says
No venting here.
I’m just really grateful to you for sharing what you were able to. I wish you the very best writing experience possible (Catalina or Ryder or eventually HughElara 2) for the rest of this incredibly challenging 2020. I will buy any book you write. I’ve pre-oredered where available.
I’m hoping for a whole Ryder series.
I also wish you health & happiness to you and your family.
Thank you again.
Cassandra says
You need to do what works for your books and your career. Thank you both for providing such bright momements in a hard summer. It was greatly appreciated. The mere fact that you can put out two books in 2021 under these circumstances is incredible. Take care of yourselves and the kids!
SAJ says
Grateful for the Ryder chapters we did get and thankful we have at least two more books to look forward to seeing in 2021! Best wishes for health, happiness, and 2k of words a day!
Danielle says
You have to do what works best for you. And I will read Ryder happily in January or whenever it’s available. Although if you’re taking requests on snippets I am voting for the scene that gives reason the kids hate Ascanio!! ????????????
Pristine says
+100000
Cindy Marlow says
This takes the decision whether to read the episodes on the blog or wait for the book out of my hands. I kept telling myself that I wasn’t going to read any more snippets but everytime the email came out, I was right there sucking it all up. It’s going to be an amazing story and I’m excited to wait for the book.
Jenn says
I’m happy we had the chapters up to this point. It’s been great. I’m bummed it has to stop, but it’s not “no,” it’s just not “now”… just like my trip to Hawaii…
Thank you for being so caring and persisting with the scene by scene up to now!
Be well and happy writing!
Pat says
You gotta do what you gotta do. We’ll wait. Your work is awesome and well worth it.
Melissa C says
As much as I love reading Ryder week by week, I love reading the finished product all at once even more. I’m happy you were able to do it for so long, and hope that meeting your new deadlines are not too stressful. I love your writing, and have yet to have read anything of yours I didn’t like.
I hope you are able to take the time you need to write something you both love as well.
Barbara says
Wow, that artwork is gorgeous!
When I read ‘Ryder has to stop’ I thought you meant all of it (no book) and my heart broke… And then I read on and it was such a relief!
You have been super kind sharing it with us but it is totally understandable that the situation doesn’t allow you to continue doing so. I am so excited for the final book! Thank you so much for your writing!
VictoriaP says
*sniffle* OK, that’s as much whining as I’ll allow myself.
You need to do what you need to do. We’ll all cope, and we support whatever needs to happen so you guys stay sane and healthy too. Thank you for all you do!
Gericke says
I understand. We’re fortunate that you share your work as you write and sometimes circumstances just change work priorities. Ryder is worth the wait.
Claire says
Thank you – I so appreciate you explaining & I am grateful!
Va says
+1
CATHERINE A LOWE says
I trust you to know the business and do what is best. Thank you are all of the writing you have done past and future.
Gloria Springfield says
I will look forward to the snippets when you drop them, just wanted to say thank you for all you guys do. I have reread the innkeeper series and have enjoyed Ryder. Your books have kept me sane as I have left the hospital and continue to recover from covid.
Patti says
No venting. You have to do what you have to do. Thank you for the story so far and thank you for giving us all books to eagerly anticipate in the future. Keep safe
Erin says
Completely understand! I’ve enjoyed the weekly posts, but you need to do what you need to do. At least we’ll still get the finished book at some point and I feel bad even thinking “at least”. I never want to be one of those fans that thinks they have a right to dictate to an author what they feel entitled to. I love what you are able to give us.
joanna powell says
I’ve been saving the chapters to read on Sunday afternoon after work. ‘Sigh… Do what you have to do. I’m grateful for the giddy joy I’ve enjoyed reading about Ryder and her return to Atlanta. Can’t wait to purchase and read Emerald!
Kate says
As long as I get the book, the story, I’m happy. I will read anything you write. So if I have to wait, I’m good. Ryder has been amazing and I will count down its release, just like I do with all your books. You guys are awesome. Stay well and please carry on.
Justine says
I understand and appreciate everything you have given us so far but that doesn’t mean I won’t go cry in a corner…. :’(
Elizabeth Hamm says
Personally, my response is going to be that this is completely understandable. You were doing this for us, it was relatively unplanned. I loved every word and I hope that more will be done down the line, but I thank you for what you gave us in the meanwhile.
Susan Young says
❤ love and hugs. Tough decision but understandable
Nellie Batz says
It’s understandable. You have contractual obligations that you have to meet because of making a living and C-19 has proven that it gives zero cares about anyone.
We don’t want you to burn out on writing because of having to do a large amount daily. We can wait for you to get it done at your pace.
Karen says
It is a bit sad but we understand. We are happy with anything you give us. At least August is coming and it only means few more days before Emerald Blaze comes out. I can’t thank you enough for your work.
Sabrina says
Nothing much about the current state of the world is ideal, so this’ll fit right in 😉 Hang in there and good luck!!!
Victoria says
So if I understand this correctly, we still get a January book. That’s wonderful. Thank you.
(I get points for this adult responses instead of just pouting, correct?)
Shellb says
You guys are awesome. Thanks for the explanation and may the writing muses be with you. When it all comes out we will be super excited.
T.Helms says
Thank for what you already posted. Looking forward to the book.
Janice Woodford says
LOL… this is like a cliff-hanger at the end of a favorite TV-show! Now we have to wait 5 months for the new season to start…it won’t kill us and we have something to look forward it. I feel for you guys tho, since it sounds like you were having fun with Ryder too and now it has turned into “work”, with deadlines and all sorts of stressors. I think many of us know that even when you love your work, it’s not always ‘fun’.
I laughed for another reason too: last night I convinced my brother who loves your work but hates serials to start reading Ryder. I have to let him know (or not, teehee) or he’ll kill me ….
Thanks for all your do for your readers…
Simone says
No venting here… 🙂
You are running a business. It’s called writing and publishing books. With this, you support yourself, your family, your employees.
Whatever is neccessary for you to continue with this, please do. If it means stopping Ryder, then it means stopping Ryder.
I enjoy everything you write and look forward to everything that you choose to share with us. I very much look forward to Emerald Blaze coming out and understand *completely* the amount of time and effort that needs to be invested in promoting it (I used to own my own publishing business… believe me, I *know*…).
I’m also totally on board with you starting the next book, so that your publisher can schedule the printing.
You do what you need to do. I’m here for whatever you publish or choose to share.
*HUGS*
Drafter says
It’s no problem. While I would have adored more Ryder, the place where the last chapter ended is almost like having a series book end with a cliffy. In this day and age, a year is not that long to wait. It’s more important for Ilona and Gordon to take special care of their health, their girls, and then fulfill their publisher contracts. Gotta keep the lights on!
Dawn says
Your best is worlds better than most, and we all understand that you have to do what you have to do. Don’t stress yourselves!
Love and hope your work goes smoothly and your schedule works out well
Torin says
Thanks for letting us know and it’s totally okay! Things happen and we understand. ????????
Jacqueline says
Oh! We understand pressure in the time of COVID-19! We appreciate all you’ve been doing so far, and look forward to the finished Ryder (I mean, Blood Heir)! “If we do not have expectations, then the little treats will be all the sweeter..”(paraphrasing).
Debs says
Bummer. Worse than no haircut for 8 months.
Thank you both for the fabulous work you do. Looking forward to “seeing” you at the book fair.
Vickie H Loftis says
I consoled myself to the loss of Ryder with 2 coffee mugs. One for me and one for another fan for Christmas. Hopefully she doesn’t see this post and order one for herself. ????
Jéssica Freitas says
that’s lovely, thank you!
Zot says
Thank you for all the Ryder you’ve given us already! I echo some of the BDH in saying that we appreciate you so much for your transparency and care for us and hope you guys take care of yourselves amid all your deadlines. I’m excited for Emerald Blaze and the Ryder novel and will look forward to the next hit of your word crack (aka snippets). Take care!
Kelly B says
Won’t lie, I am sad. However, you are doing your best in a situation out of your control, and in unprecedented times.
I know the heat is on for you. So do what you have to. If I could I would do whatever I could to help you out. As it is I can just offer my suport.
I love House Andrews.
Hugs
Essie says
Looking forward to binge reading the whole thing in January. It’s been sweet torture reading it in small doses but I’m so excited to read it all! And it was doing me no good waking up in the middle of the night (Australia time) to try and read them half asleep lol.
The last instalment with Derek will keep me going for a good while anyway. Loved it! #teammetalrose
Thank you so much for writing this book, Julie is a all time favourite character of mine. I’ve never forgotten about the rose Derek made her and to read about it is a dream come true. xx
Amanda says
We ABSOLUTELY understand.
The balance of want to do and need to do is always a PITA. Feed your kids first, then do the fun stuff.
Thank you.
Suzette says
While I am loving Ryder, I can wait for a completed story. The most important thing is that you guys take care of yourselves. Do what you have to do to ensure health, happiness and whatever financial stability you can achieve in these times.
Much love.
Pat Steinberg says
That’s ok. I will patiently (somewhat lol) wait for you to release snippets when and if you can. Can’t wait for the next book release.
We’re here for you!!
Chantay Hadley says
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????♀️????????♀️???????????? Vent complete. Thank you. I will wait til January’s release if you dont mind. Really loving this one; apparently my mental state (according to the emojis anyway) can’t handle life without a weekly fix; so cold turkey it is. Thanks for letting us know and I know how grueling schedules can be. Wishing you the best (my gosh this feels like a break up????????????).
Jen says
It’s still just so awesome knowing you will continue the story, I’m fine waiting as long as it takes! Thank you for all your wonderful stories, and for the many pick-me-up moments over the last several bleak months.
Molly says
Ah another opportunity to practice patience.
You do what you need to do, your fans will be here waiting….
Lisa Strangeman says
I want to be sad, but I remember the last time you guys had a Deadline Hullabaloo, and I can’t want that for you again. Make sure to take good care of yourselves during the stress. And account for the extra random stress from the crazy state of the world.
bmillard says
I will admit my heart dropped a little at the “End of Ryder” which made finding out a full book could be done in January so much more exciting!! That is only like 5-6 months away! And the next Catalina book comes out on my wedding Anniversary so I know what my husband and I will be doing.
Nicola says
Do you know what that is a epic place to leave Ryde and I love the idea of hints and teases until the release in January but I prefer thr book beong released and I reckon alot if fans feel the same way.
Soooooooo excited for Enerald Blaze I booked a day off work to read it. Love and light from Oxfordshire UK
Rachel M says
Ryder in January will just be a wonderful start to 2021!
Danielle says
You do what you have to do. Your adoring public will follow. Thank you for writing and publishing such wonderful books.
Sherri Dean says
RE: Ryder – I always read the posts, but honestly I like reading it all in one sitting better, so taking away the temptation is good for me 🙂
Good luck and don’t burn out!!!
Michael Kemper says
Do what you need to do. I will read whatever you put out whenever it comes out. Consistently my favorite author, and so grateful for the little bits of escape!
Angel says
Anything you guys write is worth waiting for ????
Yana says
No pressure! We are here, we will be here! Do what you must and stay healthy and don’t overwork yourself! We are lucky we got so far! We will have EB in a short time and than we are getting BH and another HL book! It is not a bad news, and there will be more Ryder in some form or another, a glimpse into the book, like you just showed. Love and hugs and all the fun you can get in this time, and we will muster up some patience because it will be worth it! Thank you for the work you do and good luck!
Jukebox says
Just the fact that you put in so much time and effort for years to feed us continuous FREE fiction from authors of your caliber and that fact that you’re worried about not being able to keep providing said free fiction is amazing to me.
What’s that? You have to do the job under contract for? Well of course! And bonus we get an almost-guaranteed entire book out of *that*.
I’ll be sitting here organizing my e-books trying to figure out what to re-read first.
Amery says
Yay for merch! Sorry publishing is so uncertain right now. I’m actually not that upset about Ryder, because of Chapter 12 ???? they’ve met, and that’s what I was looking forward to since chapter 1. Our imaginations can take over for the time being. Also, someone on the Facebook group said Derek probably checked under the shirt for weapons and I’m gonna pretend that’s cannon until we get the official story lol It’s worth the wait.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop! Sending good vibes to everyone in House Andrews.
laj says
It’s okay.
Joe says
Glad you had fun stuff planned
Gail says
I feel so sad but I realize life creates demands we are obligated to keep. Thank you for sharing what you were able. I will be looking forward to hopefully a January release (but again life happens). Stay safe and thank you for your gift to the world.
Sara Cox says
I’m grateful for whatever you are prepared to offer. Really happy that the books are still on and looking forward to the Ryder offerings as and when they turn up. Take care and don ‘t work too hard x
Lee says
Do what you need to do to satisfy your obligations. Ryder is a gift of the heart we will welcome on your schedule. Most of us are grateful it will be published at all!
Danielle says
On Ryder: New world – new normal. You do you. In a totally non-stalker way, I’ll still be here 🙂
Julie says
I’m sad to hear about delays on Ryder snippets, but it will just make every little bit that much juicier and torturous. And choosing between Ryder and Hidden Legacy is impossible so please do them in whatever order you need to to maximize yourselves and to keep the books coming!
Christy Costello says
there is no venting from me. Am I sad, yes. but you have to do the responsible thing and if that meas we get a book in August (Emerald Blaze), January ish (Ryder) and TBD 2021 for 3rd Catalina, I can honestly say that gives me a lot to look forward to! Thanks 🙂
Mireille Hay says
Totally get it. I’m happy to wait for it to come out in January. Looking forward to Hidden legacy 3.
anainasia says
thanks for the heads up and explanations, every sector is affected … it’s a hard year.
I am looking forward to EB and what ever comes after that, Cataliana III or Ryder or something else. Looking forward to the snippets but don’t burn yourself out, but if you gives you a kick and is part of your self-care to write something with direct feedback loop – then please do it. 🙂
Patricia says
The blog was always a bonus. The books are what it’s all about.
Looking forward to all the goodies.
Sarah says
I’m so excited for the story –now I’ll just have to wait longer. And we’ll get more Hidden Legacy sooner? Thank you! I’ll miss the snippets but appreciate the ones we have seen so far!
Dawn says
We love you guys. You have a business to run and sometimes that has to come …. well….. second behind family but before the Book Devouring Horde.
We’ll cope. Some of us better than others LOL!
Appreciate the update and looking forward to your books and discovering more about what’s happened\happening in the Kate universe when you can!
Kristen says
Whatever y’all need to do. I will miss the weekly Ryder post, but will take anything you throw at us. And I would rather wait and get the Ryder book if that means no delay on the final Catalina book. I hope your daughter is doing better and that your life has returned to as normal as possible. 🙂
Stacey says
I’m just glad we all behaved well enough that Gordon didn’t take away Rider. I’m tracking time by book releases anymore (since everything else is just one big blur of young kids, jobs, and Covid lockdown) so book releases to let me know what month it is are just fine. 🙂
Linda Cambier says
Thank you for all you’ve given to us fans, including all the wonderful free online content! Best of luck with all your hard work ahead. I look forward to everything you have coming up being published!
Nancy Guyott says
Many thanks for your hard work and commitment to your loyal readers
Deb says
Hey, you have to do what you have to do to keep your and yours fed with a roof over your head. It’s a changing environment In book world and I just appreciate the fact my Julie-and-Derek daydreams may be fulfilled.
Honestly, Ryder’s just been a whole lot of “yasssss-ing” and cuddly my cat in excitement for every bit. If nothing else, my cat thanks you for reducing her endurance of squishes to less than once a week.
Christine says
It’s disappointing, but we understand completely! I’d rather see all the books than see some of the books now, and I definitely want to see more Hidden Legacy!
YOU CAN DO THE THINGS!
Rexy says
It was a treat for me, but I understand. On the bright side, now the rest of Ryder will be a lovely mystery and I can’t wait to read it when it comes out ????
Thank you for everything!
Kim J says
I would much rather have a complete book in January than each chapter weekly anyway! You do what you need and we’ll excitedly (and only slightly impatiently) 😉 await the release. It will make it that much better!
Ana María Concepción says
I’m just happy you’re still going to finish it. It is turning out pretty awesome.
Jazzlet says
Thank you for keeping us informed, thank you for the chapters we have already had, and thank you thank there will be a Ryder book at all! This will save me from straining my clicking finger 😉
Amanda says
Phew! For a moment I thought Ryder was over completely, never to be finished. ????
I’m happy to wait until January, so that everything gets done when it needs to. Delayed gratification!
Thank you for the great preview!
Amanda says
At first I was worried, then I saw we’re just not getting the previews.
That I can live with because we’re still getting the book.
The snips will be highly anticipated.
Love you both!
Celeste says
Well, of course I’m sad, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
I’ll enjoy reading it in one bite when it’s finally released!
Take care you two!
SandyH says
I so fine with this. I haven’t been reading Ryder because I have been training the retirees in our area on how to navigate Zoom. It has been a rewarding experience but it doesn’t leave time for much else. I will preorder the book and enjoy it by a cozy fire.
Gloria says
I’ll take it when you have it ready, rather than rush your process! You have so much going on…..take care of yourselves. Meanwhile, I have been listening to the Innkeeper Chronicles, Hidden Legacy, and starting the Kate Daniels series again. 🙂
LizF says
No venting here! Love Ryder but you have to do what’s necessary..looking forward to HL 3 and more Ryder when you can ❤️
Patricia Schlorke says
Things change and other work needs to be done. It’s ok to switch up. Do what you need to do. After all, you started this after finding out Hugh’s and Elara’s second book was a dark one after COVID started rampaging across the world.
So….enjoy writing and finishing up other work. This member of BDH can wait. 😀
Sona says
You guys are terrific authors, and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I’m thrilled that you’re still planning on publishing Julie’s book! The Ryder snippets you’ve been making have been entirely extra, and they just whet my appetite for January. Take care of yourselves and your family. We’ll buy the book when it comes out.
Elizabeth says
I will happily wait until January, or even later, if that’s what it takes. You can only do so much and I appreciate what you’ve already done for us fans. I’m sorry you guys are affected by this pandemic (in more ways that one), and I wouldn’t want something like weekly chapters causing you extra stress. You have more than enough of that. Thank you so much for everything you do.
Suzann Schmid says
2020 hasn’t offered any safe haven yet, so this seems par for the course. In the scheme of reality, this isn’t a biggie. Too many are suffering from real problems. That said, I am very bummed. Ryder was a bright spot, a treat with no calories or potential Covid exposure like a lunch out is. I thank you for all your efforts and the stress and juggling you went through to bring us what you did. Stay safe and healthy and hit your deadlines. Hopefully we’ll all be here in January to finish reading Ryder.
KathyInAiken says
No venting necessary. You guys should be able to deal with your life and do what you need to do. Hopefully, we are all adults here (or soon to be adults) and we will deal with it. I look forward to anything you write, anything you blog, and anything you publish. Please don’t let any of us add stress to your life.
Pam says
Double darn but I understand. One of my favorite authors is sweating about getting her series’ contract extended.
Now you are getting pressure to fit into a limited printing time slot. My favorite beading magazine and the big US beadshow have ceased business. My vacation was canceled. My friends have disappeared. I haven’t seen a soul in months. Abby the cat is bossing me around now. (Familiarity breeds contempt.) My roof is leaking. The only thing working it seems is my cheap Chinese milk foam-maker and I can still buy both coffee and tequila so all is not lost. I am going back to listening to the Kate Daniel’s series in order. It’s almost like a new series when it’s been several years since I read them. Thanks for letting me vent.
Irene says
You scared me for a minute there, end of Ryder, and all…
As long as Ryder is still on track for publication I can be patient… Thanks for everything you gave us so far.
P.S. I definitely gonna miss all the comments and plot speculations in the blog. They were almost as entertaining as the story itself.
Rossana says
come over to the Facebook group ????, if you do Fb. It’s a non stop theory party there.
Irene says
Is there a separate FB group for RYder? Because I already follow the author’s page and I only get the blog post notifications that are already coming to my email…
Faith says
FOR REAL! I really enjoyed seeing the imagination that other readers have. I certainly couldn’t come up with some of those scenarios!
Ellynne says
Dang. Well, that’s how it goes. Looking forward to reading it in January and I appreciate everything you’ve posted for us.
Cindy says
I don’t know why people would be mad. I mean, I get it, but why would one spew venom onto the authors of awesomeness?!?
I’d rather have the books (cause I love both series) on time than have it all back up and have to wait longer.
Y’all do what needs to be done. The rest of us can reread any and all of the series.
And if you are griping, get a grip, they don’t even have to post the snippets. Put your adult undies on and deal with it!
Romain says
This is because of PRINTING ? ? ?
Argh ! Those dinosaurs who cannot do without paper…
Belinda says
hey! I resemble that remark!
dinosaurs.
RAWR
Melissa Grant says
It was great while it lasted! It’s on preorder so I will just have to wait until then.
Thank you for putting that much out there for us.
Angela Shikany says
In these times, we have to deal with a myriad of unseen “ripper cushions”. I am just glad you are writing in such top form because Ryder is excellent. Hang in there and the Horde will survive on whatever we can get.
Megan says
Not venting … just crying a little inside. I am so looking forward to this release, and Hugh-2. Good luck with your deadlines!! And thank you for all you do.
Lesley says
Looking forward to it’s release in January. We will take whatever we get until then and be happy, because we will not pressure you. You are awesome and have gifted us with these chapters. We are more than a little grateful!!!
Sorah says
Will I miss Ryder all the time? Heck yea! But am I willing to wait to get more hidden legacy… hell yes! Thank u either way!
Kimberly says
I am greatful for what you give us. I can wait and read the whole book when it gets published and I would rather have Catalina’s book earlier also. So do what you have to do. Life will go on. Thank you again for your wonderful work.
Francesca Virgili says
There’s no need to vent.
Having the privilege to witness that first half of Ryder was a blessing by itself.
It’s completely understandable why they chose this new strategy and I’ll be happy to get the book whenever it’s ready….
The last thing we as readers should demand is to put so much pressure on the authors (and ignore their perfectly normal reasonings behind this decision) just because we feel entitled to say “nO, yOU giVE me tHE bOOK now! ????”.
Thank you so much Ilona and Gordon for gifting us with this unexpected and delightful story…can’t wait to get it in 2021!
Anne says
Thank you for all you do.
Harriet Chow says
Oh. As much as I would love to have Ryder, I really do much more want Catalina 3. So I’m sorry you guys have so much pressure on you. But otherwise.
I’m not upset. See, I can be adult about it. I’m off to cry a little bit now. Just a very little.
Faith says
That is sad but it is understandable, you have to do what you have to do. And we still get the books on time (which honestly with everything going on in the world is a bonus).
We get Emerald Blaze in 25 days!!!
And then Ryder in January, so silverlinings abound.
Thank you for all that you do and I look forward to whatever snippets we get!
Jeannette A Kinney says
while i look forward to every post… write the book!!!! I would rather not get to read it weekly then to not have the whole book so do what you gotta do folks! we will always be here for what ever scrap you can toss our way. Just remember we love you you and your books!!!
Sue Dyke says
Life happens. We’ll be here whenever it appears and appreciate your efforts to continue.
Laura B says
I love your writing and whenever you create a new book for us, I will be grateful. Take the time you need to do what you do so well. Until then I will happily reread.
Jen says
Ahhhh it’s like choosing between two favorite children! Thank you thank you thank you for the bright spots you bring. Anxiously awaiting Baylor book 2 and can only imagine I will persevere in anxiously awaiting both Ryder and book 3 ????
Bobbi says
While I love the snippets, it’s not the book. With that being said…type, type, type away! Looking forward to the Ryder book next year!
MacGrani says
Your writing is a gift I am VERY happy to buy for myself. It’s like Christmas morning each time a book comes out. The anticipation, the opening the book and enjoying my gift over and over. I can wait. Take care of yourselves.
Cindy M says
That’s ok, y’all are more than worth the wait.
Bill W says
Thanks for keeping us informed. I look forward to when it is released.
Cécile says
Thank you for all the chapters you gave us since march.
I liked to read the comments, especially the explanations, assumptions and debates about the plot.
I have a question about Tulip: since Amra is an asian bird (Steller Sea Eagle), although not the same area as Scythians, I was wondering if Tulip could have some origins in Asia too – besides the hypothesis about Bucky.
I’m looking forward to january, Thank you very much!
Beth says
No venting. You can only do what you can do!
AJ says
No venting just excitement that there are many books in the works over the next year!
Karen says
Your characters, worlds, and stories are a bright spot, no matter when we get them. Thank you for being amazing, and do what you need to do.
Susan says
Thank you for all you do and know that you are appreciated.
Keith says
As long as you keep writing the story I am good. A little delayed gratification never hurt.
Leena says
Totally understand. Gutted, but would prefer Hidden Legacy on time and then Ryder at some time in the future, just know I’m over here tippy-tapping with excitement over anything you share from any of the worlds you’ve created and appreciate the work that goes into it all.
Write on!!
wingednike says
No venting here. I loved the chapters but honestly any new posts from you have brightened my day.
I hope the added pressure from your publisher doesn’t put a strain on you and that everyone remains healthy.
P.S. Has Arland pre-ordered a copy of Midnight Sun to add to his book collection?
Jennifer says
You guys are more than generous. You’re letting us know you have to rearrange your writing cue. We get it. When I read the line that Ryder had to stop my heart sank because I thought you meant STOP stop. Knowing you aren’t leaving us hanging indefinitely with Ryder is more than enough to help me wait.
Thanks for all the great reads and the transparency.
Matthew Sowers says
I’ll take what you send us and I’ll be happy with it!
Christine Angulo says
I’m so excited about Ryder but completely understand your hectic schedule. You are my favorite authors because of how well thought out your plots and character development are. I would rather not have any updates on Ryder and get a longer book layer than have snippets to take away from your writing genius. Thanks so much for these wonderful stories.
KelseyMx says
Thanks for letting us know! Reading the weekly installments was a definite bright spot! But – escaping into the finished novel in one sitting will actually be more awesome… ???? I tried to wait and read the installments in bigger chunks but I couldn’t stay away. I love this story and I will happily read it in whatever form works best for you guys. Thanks for writing!
Marie says
No worries, as long as I get my precious, I mean my Ryder book I’m good. Thank you and stay healthy!
Anke says
Without Corona there’d be no Rhyder. It totally sucks, that Corona also stopps the weekly parts, but I can live with it, knowing that the book comes in January.
My husband asked if there’s a chance of more Innceaper books. We are so very concerned about Dina’s parents…
Julia says
I will admit, somewhat sheepishly, that my heart skipped when I read, “the end of Ryder” and panicked, thinking you meant you were scrapping Ryder. But then I turned my brain back on and re-read what you wrote. Ha.
I’m usually a silent lurker on your blog, but I just want to write and say that I am so grateful for what you have already given us. I have probably read the entire KD series about 9 times, and Julie and Derek were my faves. Even just the glimmer of a hope that Ryder exists on the horizon is enough to get me through.
You guys do what you gotta do, but thank you for what you have already done! I’m looking forward to HL in August!
Pristine says
+1
Wendy says
Completely understandable. I’m glad you took some time to explain the situation. Your just such a good writer that it’s hard not to be hooked on the content.
That said do what you gotta do! And thank you for such wonderful stories.
Jessica Freitas says
As much as Ryder was probably the best part of my week, I’m just so so so relieved you guys are well. We can wait for the book, the most important thing is that you guys keep doing your magic in a way that makes you happy, and in a safe, healthy way that won’t be bad for you either professionally or personally.
I’m still so happy we can look forward to Ryder and Catalina #3! I’m also incredibly thankful and overwhelmed by you calling my painting “beautiful artwork” and the shout out. As usual your generosity and kindness leave me floored. Thank you for everything you guys do. I hope you enjoy the mug when it arrives!
Monina says
Thanks for the Ryder story so far! Willing to wait for the rest.
<3
Hope everything works out with the schedules.
Aleea Brewer says
We are addicted. However, your words are your livelihood and if you need to slow the free stuff to produce the bill paying stuff, we will just have to make do with what you can and will share. Big, deep and heavy sigh. Fortunately, I have all the KD books to re-read while I wait for Ryder to be published. Looking forward to why Ascanio is hated by others, I know why I don’t like him. Thank you for taking the time to explain, I will keep checking the blog for updates on all of your projects.
Skatie says
Totally cool. 🙂
Heather Langston says
No complaints here, you’ve shared a great deal and that is a welcome gift.
I happily await your coming releases!
…though when things in this crazy world calm down I certainly wouldn’t complain if you guys did some merch- a KD coffee mug or one of Luther’s snarky tee shirts would be awesome!
Stay safe and sane!
daisy says
You are both incredibly generous authors. I’m happy with whatever happens, I just love your stories…thank you for sharing 🙂
Liz French says
When I first saw no more Ryder my heart stopped bec I thought you meant no. more. Ryder. Ever. I am so glad first impressions are not always right! Covid sucks and we all have to make the best of it. I’ll gladly wait for it. Something awesome to look forward to.
barbie doll says
I knew that the world was changed forever with Covid and this is just one more thing. While it is our fun it is your living. Do what you need to do. Please try not to stress yourselves further. I too enjoyed reading the comments as so many people bring up things I never caught like Knight Ryder
Paroma says
Thought I’d signed up to be on the waitlist when the registration got full, but never got an email confirmation, so clearly it didn’t go through. And then I got all excited about the class expanding and went to sign up again, and… it’s already full.
Thanks for trying to get us in, guys! Really appreciate that! If it’s possible to make the replay available, even if it’s for a fee, a lot of us would be really happy with that too! Could that please happen?
(I will probably never be able to attend a con where you two would speak, so hearing you guys talk about your craft would usually be completely impossible for me. I’ve been hoping for another podcast interview where I could hear you two for ages. So, it’s especially disappointing to miss this now.)
Sarah says
Thank you so much for letting us know, I know how hard this decision is for you guys and I appreciate so much how much you’ve already given us. I love all your of your books and I want to read them all as fast as possible, so giving up Ryder till it’s official release is well worth it to make sure I enjoy all of your stories.
Sherri says
I understand the need to meet a schedule deadline to make a living. It’s sad but it is what it is. I will take Ryder whenever it becomes available.
Sherri says
Oh, is the monster a Sphinx?
susan says
Moloch. It’s Moloch’s doing, isn’t it. I thought so.
Lovy Nguyen says
I am honestly always so blown away by everything you do but most of all with your generosity and the hearts that you share with us. Thank you so much. The House Andrews experience is unlike anything I have encountered and that may be because I am such a huge fan. I will look forward to anything House Andrews is willing to share and will always be grateful. Will wait however long it takes for Book 3 of Catalina’s story and more Ryder as it comes when it comes.
Joylyn says
You guys are the best! This is not ideal but I totally understand. You have to still make money and feed your family so that you can continue to write. If I had to pick I would say do what you need to do so that we can continue to buy your books:)
I have LOVED reading Ryder and will adore reading the entire book to find out all the fun things that happen! Thank you for sharing and letting us know the background of why it needs to be this way!
Summer says
Anticipation is fun :0)
Gaëlle from France says
Nooooooooooooope 🙂
Amy Sutton says
I’d rather wait for Ryder than mess up your schedule for everything else. Sigh.
Marcie says
Thank you for all you do!! I’m glad Kid 2 is ok 🙂 We’ll get it when we get it and there will always be someone who will complain about something. You are awesome and thank you for doing virtual promo for Emerald Blaze!!!
April says
Will I miss the weekly posting – Yes, But do I want the book, also Yes. I will follow your lead on this, O mighty House Andrews overlords
Rebecca says
COVID waits for no man. I’m so happy you’re writing, and whatever you post on your blog brings me joy even if it’s just cute photos of your doggie companions. You’re the only authors I trust to blindly pre-order whatever you release. Don’t worry about us: do what you need to do. Stay safe!
Sleepy says
Ahhh I am sad. At least I got on the waitlist for the workshop this time!
And yes, while I’m super sad about no more ryder posts… I would rather have a book at the end of it than running out of time and no book. And now we can read it all in one rush, which will be nice. And I feel like we ended with a high note on the Julie/Derek scene so that was great at least. Thanks for posting it in the first place anyway 🙂
And tbh by the time seems to pass in 2020, it’ll be January in ages and in no time at all, so I’m excited!!
Gaëlle from France says
Not gonna lie, it’s tough, I’ ll miss it immensely.. It meant so much during those awful times. Not simple to say goodbye to such an awesome story…
Thank you very much for this gift, you are trully wonderful persons. We’re all grateful for what you gave us….
I’ll wait impatiently till january…
Elizabeth G says
Thank you for being honest and upfront with us.
I hope we can be just as adult in our words
I really have appreciated the gift that you have given us! I can’t wait to get the whole thing later 🙂
Jeannie says
I’m okay with stopping Ryder. Makes the wait harder, but the reward sweeter. Besides, I’ve already been waiting for Julie’s and Derek’s story for years!! A few more months won’t kill me.
Cayenna says
So grateful to you both & no worries about the blog. Looking forward to these stories! ????????????????????????
Amanda P says
You do what you got to do, we are ready for anything you can share.
Really excited that there will be wonderful books ???? in the end. I’ve pre-ordered all I can so far.
I am hoping the audio books will happen as well, fingers crossed.????
Good luck with the writing, keep safe????????
Jules says
Thank you for your writing and your books ❤️ Don’t worry about it! I’ll happily buy everything you publish and I am content to wait for the book ???? I am sure the vast majority of your fans feel the same way ????❤️
Carmen says
At first I thought you would say that Ryder would be completely abandon. I was really sad and then, miracle! You will continue the book! That’s the most important news for me because a KD’s universe book? Must have this.
As for the fact that you can’t give us a chapter each week? Well it sucks but…..we will still get a book ! So the waiting starts right now 🙂
Thanks again
Maria R. says
Well heck and darn. Thank you very much @ Covid-19 *shakes fist* once more the virus has raised its many receptors to negatively impact 2020.
Understood and the book horde shall shakily adapt. Many thanks House Andrews, please carry on ????
Teresa B says
Looking forward to whatever you’re able to do – so looking forward to a new Hidden Legacy, Emerald Blaze and everything! We all have responsibilities and deadlines that must come before our enjoyment, so this fan will wait patiently (okay, maybe not, but not going to give you grief over something you can’t control) for the next release.
Have a wonderful week and the rest of the year!
Andy says
No venting here! You guys are my favorite writers and I love every world and character you create and flesh out. Thanks for every world. I can wait!
Robyn says
We all understand you have commitments, and obligations to other people. But if you can, an pretty please with cream and cherries on top, do one more post of Ryder.
Monica Beeson says
Love the Mug!
You do what you guys have to do! You got this! 2k A Day or 2021! Power through! (Continues to shout words of encouragement)
Jéssica Freitas says
thanks <3
Wendy Sahyoun says
I would rather have the book in January over scene by scene snippets. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but the full book would be better. Good luck.
June says
You guys are great and so generous with your work. I love everything you write. Use your time in the best way for your own needs. We are the lucky ones who get to reap the rewards of your labors.
June
Jen H says
My hear dropped when I read your blog title and I am very sad, but I get it. I have really enjoyed Ryder and getting back into the KD world and will miss it.
BUT I would rather be occasionally sad for the next couple of months and get the full book in January and the third book in Catalina’s story next year than have weekly chapters but every thing is delayed.
It’s kind of like finding out Grandma is moving. I don’t get to see her as often anymore, but now I will have some awesome vacation plans next year.
Thank you for what you do and always trying to do best by your readers. Your work is amazing, but I truly believe that what makes your Fandom special and so devoted to you is all the YOU you give us. You build amazing worlds, but also give us great behind the scenes info. You let us peek behind the curtain a little and that makes us feel special. You show us that you are human and that makes what you create all the more special because your successes feel like the successes of a close friend. I know we can be over the top and I hope you don’t get hate for your decision, but know that the true members of your BDH understand and have your back. We are grateful for all you give us.
Lee Weatherbee says
It will be worth the wait.
Kris says
Alright, I am a little but “Whaaaa” but hey, it is Hidden Legacy soon, and then a full Ryder book hopefully in 4 short months, so – Thank you for continuing and writing us a lovely Ryder book. It was a fabulous serial so far, which really whet my appetite for the whole book.
Kate says
It’s free fiction and you all are incredibly generous with it. Prioritization happens, and I definitely don’t want any delays on Catalina’s story. XOXO
Cori Shaye says
Who can argue when the post-apocalyptic book is delayed due to the apocalypse ????
Long live the AuthorLords. Thank you for all you do!
Lea says
You know, the serial stories that you guys post are really nice. But I would rather have the books. I can get the books on audio and listen to them while I work around the house…over and over again. I buy all your books, including the ones that you first put online.
I am sorry to see Ryder come to a stop and at such an interesting spot, too. But surely you will come back to it, finish it, and put it out in book form for all the world to buy. And I, for one, will cheer loudly as I pay for my copy. You are off to such a good start that it will surely be a winner in your library of excellent stories.
Thank you for all that you do to brighten this horrible year.
Jessica says
I totally understand, its unfortunate circumstances and you’re doing the best you can. That’s all any one can really do. I know I appreciate all that’s you’ve done. It sucks to have to wait, but it’s better than not getting it at all. You can’t control the industry. I’m excited to still read about the kids and Ascanio and all the other characters. I’m sure they’ll still be there (unless you’re saying your cutting those scenes?). I’m sure we can all theorize until then. ????Good luck with the time cruntch. Hope your mental health is holding up from it all.
Becky says
It was a great treat but as long as I get to eventually read the book, I’m happy (ish) to wait. Waiting impatiently for the next Hidden Legacy book at the end of August. Love your writing.
kommiesmom says
Thank you for the lovely preview of “Blood Heir”. It was much more generous than I expected and I will be eagerly awaiting the full book.
Really, if we can wait for the next Hidden Legacy book, we can wait for Ryder. It’s not like it’s unusual. We wait for the publication of everything you two write. (I don’t say that there won’t be a certain amount of “Is it January yet?” wandering through the blog, but you’d get that anyway. Sorry. I’ll try not to be one of them.)
Also, thanks for telling us why. It really does help to understand the reason for something one is not happy about. Making a living and not burning yourselves out are important. Please take care of your life and those you love. In the long run, that’s what is most important.
You two are the best of authors – in several different ways – and make us feel as if we are valued when you treat us like adults.
Thank you again.
PS Love the logo – need to check out the site.
Olivia says
I would be super bummed to have to wait year(s) for the next Catalina book whereas the self-publishing timeline for Ryder means you can bless us with it as you see fit.
Karon says
I would rather wait for the good book–with all the fun things you hint at than get a rushed product just to meet a publishing deadlines. I’ll take what I can get, when I can get it and be very glad to have it.
Chris says
We love you like family and we understand completely.
The most important thing is to take care of you and yours.
The next most important thing is to take care of your business, so that you can get through this time and still be able to publish for us. ❤️

MMD says
Needs must. I love Ryder and being back in Kate Daniels world is an absolute treat. And you are right, every time I read a chapter my mind kind of explodes as it goes off in a million different directions at once each starting with “oooh what if …”
Nonetheless, we get professional commitments come first. So we are thankful for what you have already given us, which we will continue to enjoy, as we interrogate it for clues as to what is going to happen next.
In the meantime we will wait for the next book to be published and we don’t have long to wait for Emerald Blaze, ooh shiny.
Good luck and thanks for letting us know.
Momo says
We will stay strong without Ryder and look forward to everything you can share with us. Times are hard and a complete book (HL and Ryder) next year will be a brighter future 🙂
…still I will probably have to start nightly prayers that ask for patience because I am so greedy.
It is still like 3,5 weeks till HL. How shall we all survive? T.T
Jan L says
What you give us is a gift and we truly appreciate it.
Looking forward to finish reading it if/when you’re able.
Thanks for everything.
Kokokatze says
I love UST (unresolved sexual tension) in my books and I totally don’t mind URT (unresolved reader’s tension) in my life when it comes to waiting for your books! lol!
goethebier says
Wow that seems like a lot of work for you guys. I hope you will have fun writing like maniacs… I will miss the comments and your blog posts too. But I have no problem hearing/reading all your books again and again. That’s how fantastic you are. And thanks for the heads up about Ghastek and Rowena. Sending you my love and some energy.
Michelle says
Thanks for what you are doing. I can live with knowing a book is coming in Jan. (Hope, hope given the current situation. )
I will just have to wait in anticipation.
I’m also waiting for Hidden Legacy. So all is good. How ever I look at it it’s a win for all your readers. We just have to be patient.
Norbert says
You suck … with your blog post headings! Why on earth do you post a heading like „the end of Ryder“? Do you want to cause heart attacks? Do you enjoy hearing cries of despair all over earth? Hear the horde whimperingi n dejection?
This heading made me think „NOO, do not leave us with this story unfinished forever; I cannot bear this, aargh!“
Then I read on and understand that you apologize for not being superhuman enough to give us free posts and finished stories at the same time! And that you prioritize the finished books being on time. Phew. My heart beat slowly normalizes. The hyperventilating stops.
Why do you apologize for that? If you want to apologize, apologize for nearly killing us with a misleading heading! 😉
And if you post some out of order snippets, we will try to entertain you speculating where they fit in.
Marjorie says
Right? That was my reaction, too! “You’re scrapping the book?!?”
And then the absolute relief when I saw it wasn’t scrapped, it’s just not going to be posted as an ongoing serial.
Whew! That I can handle.
Lisa says
No worries. I love all of your stories so it just gives me a happier new year to look forward too. You guys are amazing and I know we all appreciate the snippets. When I need a fixi just go back and restart one of your series over again. I always get something new from re-reading.
Tanya says
How about we say Ryder has to go on a hiatus. I can wait until 2022 for it to be completed in the way you envision. Until then, I’ll reread Innkeeper and other series I keep rereading.
Judy says
Ryder is worth the wait. Have to meet your obligations. Understood.
Covid strikes again.
Crystal says
It’s ok. Can I just suggest that maybe next time dont do a prerelease. I loved the freedom you had with the inn keepers read along. Because I was reading along I didnt feel hurried for a published book. I that’s that rider which was suppose to be a fun thing for you and us got to feeling pushed. I love all y’alls books every one is a treat wether it’s a read along or a published.
Ailis says
I am ecstatic just to read your work, whether it be snippets every so often or the whole book later on. Thank you for letting us read your amazing writing!
Ashley says
Honestly as long as it comes out at some point I am content to wait as long as it takes. A year, two, three… it’s okay. My fangirl self isn’t going anywhere. Contracts are important and those obligations need to be met, especially if it means more contracts in the future.
Katie Pawlowski says
I’m just SOO happy Ryder is a book I will cling to this! I devour anything you write so happy writings! Sending love and stress-free thoughts 🙂
Linnaea says
Omg you scared me!!!! I thought Ryder was done FOREVER and you weren’t even going to put out the book. But if the book is actually coming at some point then I am all good. I completely understand. Phew. Heart attack. I’m just so happy that you decided to continue stories in Kate’s world. It’s my favourite place to be with my favourite people. ????????????
Elizabeth says
Sad, but understandable! Love your stories and thank you for bringing them to us!
Dr Susan says
Your online serials have always been a gift, one that I have been thankful for. You should do what you need to do for you. Thank you, gracious Authorlords.
Michelle says
When I saw, “Ryder has to stop,” for a second I thought you meant you had to stop working on it. Knowing that you are just making sure everything can meet its pub date? Totally understand. Sorry you are under a crunch.
Cat Kimbriel says
I am so sorry that everything has tightened like a straightjacket. Please take good care of yourselves and your family.
Those paying attention understand how hard you work, and are delighted whenever we see new books from you two. Sometimes it is just Life, Interrupted all the way down. We love snippets, and are blessed with many previous IA books to reread to get us through isolation.
Stay safe, stay happy with your writing. Cook and knit with abandon when needed, and remember to toss a ball for any interested canine. 😉
Amy J says
Do what you need to do. As a fan, I’m just grateful that I’m able to read your wonderful books when they come out. Reading online like this is just an added bonus.
Laura says
Thank you for posting what you have. I loved getting to read it as it came up, and I’ll love getting to read it from beginning to end when it’s ready. Good luck with the intense schedule! We’re rooting for you!! Go go go!
Paula O says
Don’t apologise …this is your livelihood. Loving Ryder and well and truly hooked. But as long as it gets finished and I can get answers to all those tantalising questions that you keep throwing out I will be happy on publication day. You are amazingly generous with your time to the BDH but in these strange days, you do what is necessary. Take care
C. S. says
So, I’ll go out on what I suspect is a lonely limb and say I am fine with this. I stopped reading the updates for Ryder once I could reorder the book; I’d rather wait and read it as a single whole than piecemeal.
So, cool. Do what you need to do to keep you guys happy and safe and satisfied.
JB says
No venting from me. I’d rather get Catalina #3 in 2021 and wait until you can focus completely on Ryder. I like the serial aspect but in some ways it would be better to read Ryder as a completed novel rather than having cliff-hangers every week.
korey says
I’m not going to vent. This is life and sometimes it takes unplanned detours. The authors are incredibly generous in sharing their creations
Yes I looked forward to the posts. I am loving this story. We have a book to look forward to. Thank you for all that you do. Sending positive thoughts and support to you both.
Sherrie says
I appreciate everything that you do for us/fans. The disappointment I feel is overshadowed with the knowledge that it will be finished eventually. I can wait. Thank you, thank you, thank you for it all. 🙂 xoxoxo
Alex R. says
Wait!
Ghastek and Rowena finally got together, are married and have several gorgeous, yet scary and socially awkward offspring?
Ascanio is hated by all kids and keeps pining after Desandra, thus the need to blackmail her into bed?
That’s what I got out of the above.
My version of the story would never work, but it would never be boring.
Thank you Ilona and Gordon for all your work.
Time to reread all of the Kate Daniels books. Should keep me busy for a week or two.
Jean-ann Stump says
I know that I don’t speak for everyone but I am willing to wait if it means that I can read the finished book. I might need to wait anyway. I have been feeling a little sad that Kate’s kids aren’t getting along.
Pristine says
+1
Skye says
We understand. An eventual book trumps a section a week, at least for me. Plus, I want you to be able to publish on schedule on not have to push back your major commitments for books. I’ll not even be upset if Ryder doesn’t come out until after January.
Anyone who doesn’t understand or who gets upset is a poop head. (Technical term.)
Pristine says
I love the stories you two wrote. I’m a fan of Ascanio (and Conlan, and Julie-Derek). I will wait. Thank you for the hardwork<3
Carysa Locke says
Totally understandable! You are a business, and for better or worse, that means you have to make business choices based on necessity sometimes. Hopefully all of those things you mentioned will still be appearing in Ryder, and I already have the book preordered. Also, I somehow had no idea the ASU class was happening, and I’m now on the (probably new) waitlist.
Nean says
Whew. Ok i can breath again. Ryder is not cancelled. I still get the book. Just not weekly posts. I was so sad for a few moments. Thinking i might be left in limbo forever. I can survive on snippets until then.
For some reason in my head i see you chortling with glee as you tell us that you about some scenes you had planned to share. Knowing that we will now all clamour for details and make up our own rationalizations.
Theory 1 – the kids all hate Ascanio because he has dated and dumped their sisters. Who now all mope around driving the family crazy. Also their moms ignore them when Ascanio is around, giggling and carrying on in an embarrassing manner.
Theory 2 – kids are the only ones who don’t fall for Ascanio’s charm and as a result he distrusts them.
Pristine says
Theory 3 – Ascanio somehow made a blunder and didn’t know how to make things right.
Tracy NZ says
Theory 4: as Beta he’s tough on The kid’s bad behaviour. But they all know the stories about what he used to get up to/away with.
Jan Tucker says
Sad to hear about Ryder but completely understand. It’s a mad world now and plans are basically wishes held together with spiderweb ????.
Stay healthy and happy ????
Erin Hart says
<3 love you guys and everything you do, I’ll wait and read anything, and just happily reread your classics while I wait <3
Frances says
Its 2020.Anything sucky that can happen- will happen this year. Hopefully next year will be better. It was a good ride while it lasted. So it goes.
Tapati says
I’m just grateful that Ryder exists and that I got to read the last one after getting out of the hospital following a cardiac procedure (stents). COVID 19 is likely to affect so many things and set dominoes in motion. What can anyone do but adapt? I look forward to the finished books whenever they arrive.
Audrey says
You guys are amazing and what ever you need to do is great. I love Ryder, but I love all your work. I can take some delayed gratification, and appreciate you sharing your work so generously.
A. says
I do not want to vent, I want to thank you for Ryder so far (and I’m not exaggerating, every post *has* always been a highlight of the very day it came out) and I do hope that the book will be finished at some point – I’ll be happy to read it when it is published. Right now I’ll have to drown my pangs of sadness in Gin Tonic, though. Take care, stay healthy!
Marsha Parris says
Do what you need to do. I have hooked my 89 year old father on your series and he enjoys it as much as I do. I look forward to the releases of your books. Stay sane!
Kirsten says
Thank you for the heads up. I’m always a proponent of managing expectations and I know we, the BDH, have major ones.
That being said, I am so looking forward to seeing what develops but I can certainly wait until January to see it. The chapters (and, in fact, your books) are a gift and it would be churlish to try to dictate how a gift should be given.
The pandemic has taken away our ability to look forward to things (trips, time with loved ones, a really good drink at a favorite bar, etc.) but you have given me the gift of knowing yet another great story is on the way. Thank you.
Stay safe and stay sane.
Sue Nagata says
I understand. Publishing commitments come before everything. I will wait patiently until Ryder can be posted. It’s not like I don’t have other things I can read 🙂 Ryder was fun but contracts/commitments pay the bills.
Amber says
Do what you’ve got you do! We love you guys, and we’ll buy the book when it comes out.
Megan says
You always do your best and we appreciate all the effort. You keep your word and are honest about everything. Your needs come first, we are ever grateful for all that you give us. And you are very generous ????
Sophie says
That’s it. I am convinced everyday is April 1, 2020. Because in 2020 everyday there is something that has happened to where we think, this is a joke, right? Many things keep getting taken away, postponed or removed. I call BS. No, we don’t blame you guys and we are thankful for your work. But, seriously, BS….
Claire M says
Whilst I am sad we won’t get the regular Ryder posts, I am mostly just very relieved it is still planned and intended for a full book. I will just have to satisfy myself with rereading what there is until then.
And devour the little snippets when they come. I am so excited for Emerald Blaze and Catalina’s 3rd book too. So do what you have to do! I will love what we get, when we get it. Thanks for the honest and open update!
Karin says
I love your books. The Ryder chapters made my day sweeter, but not at any cost. I can confidently wait for something good.
Linda Winstead says
I can wait, don’t want too, but I can. You do what you have to do. This is not in your control. This virus has been a bane to us all. Be safe and healthy and may God keep your family in the hollow of his hand.
MaryH says
As long as we get the whole book at the end of the day, I won’t cry too much. I love the Hidden Legacy books too and would be very sad not to read Catalina’s final book next year.
Lisa says
What a tough spot to be in, I love Catalina & Ryder… It’s like asking which kid you love more, impossible to choose! BDH loves all you do, I for one am happy to wait if it makes life easier on you. You give us so much joy, the least we can do is be thankful and respectful of your time and needs. Nothing but ❤️ From me:)
lara says
i just hope the audiobook comes out the same time as the books. i hate waiting!!! hehehe
Cindy says
This is disappointing as new Ryder postings are always a delightful find; but you just do what needs to be done, and I’ll be lurking here waiting to read whatever you are able to share!
Tink says
Considering that none of us were even expecting to get Ryder to begin with, it’s just been a giant bonus. I will miss the weekly posts, but it’s shaping up to be a full sized book and a damn good one, so I’ll wait for whatever you give us and then pre-order it as soon as you post the link. And if history is any indication, I’ll try to order it at least 10 times because I’ll be paranoid each time I see the link or cover in Kindle that I missed pre-ordering it.
NJ says
Just happy to get the book. I hope you write more books in this world ????… I hope around 10 ????????.
Stay safe.
Ashley says
I work within the print industry. While covid19 is a factor – the other big issue is that paper mills are closing. It’s becoming difficult to get the massive paper orders in quickly – large orders must be made 3 to 4 months in advance. Of course it doesn’t help that there is also a shortage of skilled drivers within the trucking industry… :/
The print and paper industry is just getting smaller and more expensive as the world adopts to digital.
Judy says
You are amazing writers and so transparent with your fans
We will read Ryder when it is done
Thank you for everything
Ann M Morgester says
No venting – I LOVE getting the chapters and seeing the process and you are so very generous with your time – but I want books published even more so I totally understand – Will love anything that you have time to post – Love to you and family and take care
Angela Rae says
Do what you have to do. Your posts were a gift, not an entitlement. They were wonderful and thank you. I look forward to reading Ryder in its entirety when it releases. Best wishes to you and yours!
Wendy says
not having ryder every week is a loss but losing more of your other work is a bigger loss. it’s ok, we waited 1.5 years for Neveda, we can wait a year for Ryder. Don’t feel bad for us.
kristin says
Nothing to vent. Thank you so much for sharing what you did! (it was the ultimate teaser.) Only respect and admiration for you while you navigate the changing world. And just knowing there will be a Julia/Ryder book completed one day is a comfort for us readers. Stay well and take care of yourselves!
Sara B says
You have NOTHING to apologize for! You can share in the disappointment because you don’t get to have fun doling it out and watching us go nuts, but no apologies are needed!! Thank you for bringing that world back. I missed it terribly!
Jodie says
I’m ok with not getting my weekly posts and can understand how difficult deadlines are. You make me happy still because you have told me that at some point I will get to continue the story in a book I can purchase and hopefully it can be the start of a beautiful new extension of the beautiful wonderful world you let us escape into.
Hazel says
I think it hugely generous of you both to put chapters of new books up on line; I honestly don’t know of any other author that does. Life is strange for a lot of us at the moment. It looks as though I will be going back to ‘shielding’ I just wish it had a more interesting meaning instead of what it actually is! You pair must do whatever you need to do to get through it; that is all. But much love from this side of the pond 🙂 xx
Alida Van Heerden says
It’s a bit sad but I actually enjoy reading the whole book at once lol and now I have something to look forward to in 2021. Thank you for doing the Ryder book it’s really appreciated. Were also getting a book this month so thanks for that as well.
Cee says
Snippets will do. Thanks for offering them to us!
Korwyn says
I would never vent about something like that! 🙂 Thank you so much for what you have posted already, and I’m totally pumped to read the final book.
May your thoughts flow coherently, the words flow freely, and the need for revisions be few! 🙂
Aj says
Thank you for sharing. Excited to know the book is still scheduled for release in January and that you’ll be working on Hidden Legacy 3 soon. We have Emerald Blaze to hold us over.
Christine Eaton says
This is just one of those “delayed gratification” things. (For me)
Y’all always come through on your promises and the explanation/communication is appreciated.
This year, 2020 is definitely teaching us some lessons. Slowing down and being flexible have been just a couple of those lessons.
Linda says
What Heather said.
Izzy says
Waaaah! Poo!
OK, now that my inner five-year old has vented, I am completely on-board with whatever decision you guys make to stay sane and to keep on top of things. As much as I have absolutely loved getting these scenes and glimpses into the KateDverse, I am also kind of (masochistically) excited about getting the whole enchilada without the reveal when Blood Heir releases in its entirety. So keep on keeping on, and know that we’ll be ready when you are.
Sam says
Oh man, so sorry to hear this. My brain understands but my inner 3 year old is having a tantrum. I look forward to any snippets that you can spare and to reading the book in January, thank you for what you have provided so far. 🙂
Pete says
Your writing is a business, I am thankful for all the Ryder that we got. But you have given us a lot and I will be grateful for anything else.
Your business comes first and I will continue to support you whatever you have to do.
PS Please keep us in the loop, even if it is just to say Don’t have time to write anything at this time..Bye
Sue says
Wow! Sorry things didn’t go as planned, but I can wait until January. You have a living to make and commitments to fulfill. No bones broke. You have always been so generous with your work.
Looking forward to Hidden Legacy and snippets when you can manage. Thank you for your amazing stories filled with such wonderful people.
lisacharlotte says
If my options are #1-blog posts or #2-book (soon-ish)… I’m going with book. I’ll pre-order anything you write, so make sure you put up a link for whatever you got, whenever you got it!
Alico says
I can’t say I’m not disappointed. But completely understand the pressure and strain you guys must be under. Thank you for all of your recent efforts in the midst of the pandemic. Please take good care of yourselves!
Regarding audiobooks, if possible, can you please consider not making your future audiobooks exclusive to Audible? I’m supporting independent booksellers by my membership with Libro.fm (which I learned of through your endorsement on your blog) and was very disappointed to not be able to purchase Sweep of the Blade through Libro.fm. I’m still waiting to purchase it through them, perhaps after a year?
(I hope this doesn’t break any rules, but here’s a recent article explaining the issue: https://blog.libro.fm/the-harmful-impact-of-audible-exclusive-audiobooks/)
Thank you for all that you do. It reflects the Love and Kindness and Joy I’m certain you live out each day. Your blog is a bright spot in an increasingly dark internet. Please take care of yourselves. You are in my prayers.
Alice
Susan says
I would also love to be able to purchase your books on MP3 cd… have KD books and Edge books that way, but would love to also have the Innkeeper books, Iron and Magic and Blood Heir available on cd along with the print format. Thanks!
Shani says
I’m very thankful for the chapters we’ve received so far and looking forward to reading the book in January (of course I’ve preordered the minute it was possible). When it comes to your writing I can never get enough and it can never be fast enough (they don’t call us “the book devouring horde” for nothing…), you do whatever is good for you and for your family and we will deal with it (we will also pout but hopefully it will be adorable). Thanks again
J says
I was so scared by the title that Ryder wasn’t happening at all anymore… waiting until January instead is no biggie. Now I can devour it in one go instead of bit by bit. Fine by me! Will go read KD again to pass the time. Thank you, thank you!
Patricia Scott says
Love you and your work❤️❤️❤️
Patricia Scott says
I enjoy everything you give us. ❤️❤️
Marti Garner says
I am sorry that you will not be able to post regular snippets, but I prefer you do what you can with all of your books. Take care and keep on writing.
miscanon says
You guys always deliver amazing work- it’s well worth the wait! Of course it’s kind of a bummer to not get weekly installments, but even if the world weren’t crazy right now, it’s totally understandable that other things need your focus!
Your stories are always worth the wait, so I can summon as much patience as needed, and I’ll be just as excited for the full book whenever it comes out (and Hidden Legacy!) as I would be for weekly chapters!
Take care of yourselves first and do what you need to to stay sane and healthy!
Big Fan says
Well of course I’m disappointed, but I understand why you have to stop. And we’re still getting a book! I can wait. Thank you for what you already shared, and I’ll be happy to buy the book. I think I already pre-ordered it.
RACHEL says
Just relieves there will be a Ryder eventually! Your title had me worried. I think we all appreciated the gift while it was given.
mz says
Hey!!!! What kind of a BirthDay Present is this!?!?!?
I’m kidding. It’s tough working with Back Seat Readers mumbling (or screeching) comments at you.
Ryder pre-ordered for whenever anyways. The instalments were a graceful gift to all of us and we understand.
Stay safe.
Proud Bookworm says
You are awesome and generous. No ranting from me. Be well and thanks again for your work and kindness!!!
Kate says
Hey, we get it. Ryder has been a gift to us, and you don’t owe it to any of us. We’ll be here for it when it comes out, and in the meantime just take care of you.
Tiger Lily says
I love your books whenever I get them. I am just stunned at all you have been able to do during this time with the pandemic, illness in your family, and the other books that you are working on.
Hopefully you will still be able to post fun animal pictures and life stories. I enjoy them so much!
Whatever you can do is fine by me.
Thanks for all you do!!!
Jesse S says
We love you guys and just really enjoy your work. You do what you have to do. I’m just glad we will still get books from you guys!
Kimberly R says
No venting here! I love Ryder and can’t wait to read it in its entirety next year. I love Catalina and want no delays in her books. Also, I want y’all to have less stress rather than more. Thank you for always being transparent and keeping us updated <3
Susan says
“Absolutely, positively understand and support you”, she says as she cries into her pillow.
Rebecca says
*quiet but brave little whimper*. I understand, thank you for letting us know…. now we have the whole mysterious book to look forward to (some time in the future) rather than little snippets… this is sort of a good thing…….. maybe. ????????????????
Rebecca says
Wait…. does the publishing schedule for Hidden Legacy 3 and the state of the publishers mean that Ryder’s January release is at risk? I think I kind of assumed it was, but on re-read I’m thinking maybe not. Geez, you guys have a lot of balls in the air, I am again amazed at your absoawesomeness! (And yes, that is absolutely a real word). ????
Ellen Solensky says
Your generosity is exceeded only by your writing talent. Thank you. Do what you must and all good fortune to you both and your family.
Andrea says
These are crazy times for everyone. Do what you have to do. I am happy to get whatever you can produce at whatever time it comes. Also, love the dragon quote but am blanking on where it came from. Can someone remind me?
Rossana says
The Edge series book 3, Fate’s Edge
Jéssica Freitas says
thanks, and yeah it’s from Fate’s Edge
susan m says
Sadness.
Understandable, but covid strikes again.
Thank you for the writing that you do. Your stories are (mostly) light and fun, a departure from so much externally.
Megan Welden says
Whatever you give us is gravy. You both are unbelievably generous.
Why were you trying to make the serial Ryder the same-same as the published Ryder? One of the fun things about reading the final book after reading it evolve online is finding the updates and other changes.
I have all your books in multiple formats (paper, BN, and Kindle) and I love them all, although Edge 4 is my favorite. It was hard for you to write but it fills a place in my soul. Thank you.
Anindya says
Sorry, I am a little confused. Does this mean the full book (Ryder) will still be published in January?
Ashley says
I’m a touch sad, but I completely understand. And I’m just happy that we will still get the book rather than it needing to be shelved completely. In less than a month we’ll get the next Catalina book. I’ll be able to wait a few months for Julie’s book.
Thank you for sharing so much of your work and imagination. When the pre order comes out, I will definitely be pre ordering.
Jane Wu says
Ok. Sigh. Moan. Can’t wait for the book. COVID sucks , but grateful we are able to get what do, given complications. Thanks, as always, for understanding your readers!
Katherine H says
We were very lucky that you posted any of it, I am just really glad we get it at all. Especially after the Julie trolls made you decide not too. I love everything you write so I will wait (more patiently this time) ???? Thanks for letting us know what’s what.
Melanie says
I’ve enjoyed what we had so far and you are WAY more generous than other authors. A chapter or snippet here and there. You give us entire books. Thank you.
sandie says
I find the blog a mini escape no matter what is there though I will miss the scenes. It left on a good, tempting note, and gives me something to look forward to. I know the snippets will be fun to read too. As many have said, I’m more focused on getting the final product of a book than anything else and I know I will be biting for the 3rd hidden legacy book as soon as this next one releases too. So whatever allows for more books, the happier I am.
Cheryl z says
Well Pooh. At least we got to see julie and derek meet. I would rather have the book than a serial. If one of your snippets could answwr the question of does Derek know Julie that would be awesome. Stay safe and sane-ish. (Truly sane people do
Not have your immigration)
Cheryl says
Drat I wish I could edit my stupid typos
Megan says
You know what? It’s totally okay. You guys have been SO aqesome with your stories and fan interaction. We thank y’all for that generosity! A little waiting never hurt anybody. You go do your thing — we’ll be here.
Tola says
Thank you for the clarification. You didn’t have to explain anything. I look forward to reading anything that you write. You do great work. I don’t mind waiting for good stuff!
Valerie in CA says
I’m happy with the Ryder I got. I’m happy with the Ryder I will get. It’s weird it’s unusual. I’m happy to wait????
Sue says
Just very sad. It was a bright spot for sure. I am looking forward to reading Ryder in January. Less then six months away. Thank you for what you were able to post! Emerald Blaze this month, rereads, all good!!
Nicky says
Awww bless you both. Don’t worry we completely understand the pressures you both are under. We will take whatever we can get when you are ready and it will build up the anticipation. Plus we have Emerald Blaze to look forward too. Sending love xxx
Relin says
Thank you for letting us know! That’s a lot to juggle at once, and that re-prioritization is needed. You’ve left us at a wonderful point for dreaming and have dropped hints that I’m excited to think more about. I’m glad to hear that you all enjoyed watching the theories go wild! <3 It's been fun and such a gift!
Happy to pre-order wherever I can!
I hope it all goes smoother than expected and things are as kind to you, and yours, as possible. Thinking of Kid #2, and wishing health and safety your all's way.
kitkat9000 says
Is this ideal? No. But in all honesty, the only thing that really matters to me is that Team Andrews is able to do what they need in order to continue writing while being financially supported by that writing. Blog posts are enjoyable and are a place where we can all come together, but anything that adversely impacts their already packed calendar needs to go. Thank you so very much for thinking of us and I’m sorry that you won’t be able to do all that you’d looked forward to.
May Team Andrews & family stay healthy, have as much time off as you need, and continue doing that which makes you happy and feeds your souls. We’ll be here.
Namaste.
Barbara Swanson says
IT’S ALL GOOD! Will I miss Ryder weekly? of course. The golden lining (not silver), is that now I really won’t know what’s coming. And maybe it will be a lot larger book…which for me is a huge win (just a hint). Please, do whatever you need to continue to sell books. We will adapt.

Patient, we can be (barely) because it means more of your wonderful stories. And hey, you gave us a Derek scene!
Also we can now speculate wildly, go off on tangents, re-read and come up with more outlandish speculation etc. All of this leavened by possible snippets, which will be out of sequence and can set it all off again:)
Take care and know the your BDH wait faithfully, sending you all the good vibes.
Kathleen says
Meant to add that I am busting to know if Derek noticed the rose…..

Part of me is super sad. Part of me is actually relieved, because getting the bits each week was starting to drive me crazy because they’re all even better than the last and I’m not good at patient. I’m so excited to have the whole book someday so I can stay up way past bedtime and devour the whole thing without waiting! Thank you for everything you write.
Tasha A. says
I fell exactly the same!
Tammy T says
Love your work and your generosity, no venting here.. I will take what I get and be happy. Ready to spend some money when the book releases, Happy writing!

Your posting of Ryder segments have been wonderful gifts. Please be assured that if you have to stop the posts, my appreciation of what you have already given will not be diminished. Just the fact that you will continue writing so that we can enjoy your books even in the future is like anticipating future birthday gifts!

No worries …
Love your worlds, words, and
wicked humor !

I am of two minds about this. The first is I’m really sad cuz now I have to wait until January to get the whole story. The other side of me is bit relieved cuz I hate cliff hangers and by its nature alone serials are cliff hangers. You two are alos really really good at cliff hangers with these serial posts!!! I have tried not to read the posts so i can read it all at once but I have NO will power when it comes to your writing. 🙂 So I have a love/hate relationship with them HAHA. I’m just happy that when you said END of RYDER you meant the Ryder serials not the end of the book!!
Thank you for all of your hard work – you spoil us with your wonderful writing and stories.

Work comes first. We understand.
Jilly Wood says
I’m enjoying Ryder sooo much, but I’ll gladly forego the weekly chapters if that means I’ll get to read the whole book in January. It will be a bright start to the new year.
When I saw the headline I was afraid you’d had to put the project on hold or even cancel it. Thank you for making time to finish the story when you’re under so much pressure.

Thank for publishing Ryder online, and giving us a treat each week. You have your priorities, and that is okay.
Looking forward to more later =)

You are doing all you can do. I think it is wonderful that you post chapters and feel lucky that you do that at all with everything going on in your life and all the wonderful work you are doing. Thank you for everything you do. I’m looking forward to reading anything you give us but I can wait. Stay safe ❤️
Kim D says
We love you guys. Thank you for sharing Ryder’s development with is, and deciding to create a full book out of it. Your personal needs and professional obligations come before our treats, and we will be here when you can share anything more.
Thank you for letting us know what is going on. Take care of yourselves and focus on getting done what you need to in order to be healthy, happy, and financially solid. <3

You two are the best. Full stop. The BDH is grateful for your generosity and openness. We love your writing and will wait for Ryder knowing that it will totally be worth the wait. Thank you so much.

I’m actually kind of glad. I like to read books in one go (but couldn’t resist reading pieces) but have a hard time shelling out money for a book if I could have read it “for free” previously. This way I will just buy the book when it comes out and won’t feel bad about paying for it (I know it’s stupid to feel that way but that’s how it is)
Jerry Smith says
Thank you for the chapters of Ryder that you have posted. I’ll be looking forward to reading the rest of the story sometime in the future. For everything you do as a serial I still buy the book when it comes out. Do what you have to do to make a living. Keep the books coming. Take care of yourselves and your family.

I am sad, but I totally understand. I’m thankful that at least we can get the final book in January still. Thanks for letting us know!
Shelli D says
As long as you keep writing I will be happy no matter how it’s shared.
Hang in there!
JenMo says
Aw dang. But you do what you gotta do. No hard feelings at all.
Stephanie says
Your writing is a gift, and I happy to receive it any form, at any time, and am willing to pay full price for it. And I write as I am in quarantine away from my family with a positive covid test and really loving the Ryder posts to keep my morale up. Stay safe and thanks for this gift of your words
Whitney says
The sense of anticipation will be strong, but I look forward to having more completed books sooner! As my coworker reminded me today “Patience is a virtue”. I hope that you both are able to find a little more balance without the extra pressure of posting.
Farhiya says
No venting here. Just grateful you posted as much as you did. Trying times all around and your work as always is a bright spot. Thank you so much.
Kayeri says
The last thing any of us want is for you two to stress out. Having this much of Julie’s future adventures has been a blessing and a bright spot, it’s true. I’d much rather have it in the way that is easiest for you. You’ve already got enough on your collective plate.
Btw, just got another innocent person addicted to your books. She’s partway through Magic Bites and wants more. There’s already so much more she can enjoy and that I can delight in all over again as she discovers it.
Both of you take care, we’ll be here. =)
Ami says
I understand. I love and appreciate all you do but oh the agony!!! Aaaaaaauuuugggghhhhhh!!!! *sobs*
*sniffle* Okay. I will definitely miss the bright spot but that’s life in the times of COVID. I will continue to drool and dream of when it’s done.
