We found this guy on our doorstep this morning in Cedar Park TX. No chip, no collar. We took him to the two neighboring vets, but nobody recognized him. He is at Williamson County No Kill Animal Shelter. He is in good hands and we donated some money to the shelter to pay for his shots and care. If you lost him, you have 3 days to claim him before he is put up for adoption.
The shelter’s information:
1855 S.E. Innerloop
Georgetown, TX 78626
(512) 943-3322

I hope his owner sees this! Or, if not, I hope someone awesome grabs him for adoption. He looks like a sweetheart. Good for you for taking care of him.
Carol says
I totally agree. I’m so glad that you all have a no kill shelter. There are none in my community.

The news in our little town reported that nearly 100 dogs were turned in to our three shelters – running away to escape the fireworks.

Awww. What a sweetie. So nice of you to pay for his vaccines and care.

Poor baby. Dogs really hate July 4th. I have to sedate my two Weims now; at 8 & 9 they’re just too old for that sh**. Hope he gets claimed or maybe just moves on to a better home!

Yeah, C., I know what you mean. Memphis, my German shepherd mix, and Pluto, my American Staffordshire terrier mix, are both thunderstorm and fireworks phobic. I see the same reaction during rifle hunting season too. They have a safe hiding place in my bedroom closet to go to which they vanish to long before I know there is a t-storm coming. I use Benadryl instead of Ace to sedate as I usually do not have enough warning that a t-storm is coming before the hype and drooling…. This 4th was not too bad as was only fireworks no gunfire. Good for you to recognize and treat your pups appropriately as that makes you a good dog owner in my book. I trust that your guys are both chipped too. [mine are tattooed as I had that done when they were altered many years ago (both were Good Sam cases) but cats are chipped except the feral barn cat]

My area seems to be bottle rockets all year round. Once found two dogs on the way to work. They decided to follow me around all day. On the way home a man called them over, by name(they had collars and tags, but no phone number or address). Turned out he was the owner. He had taken the dogs to the park with the rest of the family and someone set off a bunch of bottle rockets to celebrate something. Since the dogs were playing ball with Daddy and uncles, they ran off and I found them the next day.
He was really relieved that they were okay.

You guys are super for taking the time out of your day to help this cute pupper! I noticed in my FB feed that the Williamson County Animal Shelter is having a huge influx of animals (100+) from a hoarder house and are looking for donations, lasagna pans for litterboxes, litter, food, and other staples. If any of your amazing fans are interested in helping them out, here’s a link to their website: http://pets.wilco.org/. They have an amazon wishlist under “Donate & Shop” and a big “Donate” button at the top of the page. 🙂

Donated. These are good people.

Thank you Ilona Andrews for rescuing the dog. It is probably a firework phobic dog. If it is not chipped or tattooed then finding the owner will be difficult as scared dogs can run for miles and miles. Cats usually hide but dogs run until they drop. The shelter was best place to take as most shelters check for chips automatically. tattooing is no longer standard and that looks to be a young dog. Since it looks to be under 50 pounds it probably was an apartment dog and that is like a needle in an haystack in metro areas.

Good work. Perhaps the Grey Wolf can use a pet.
