Some of you are in Europe, where the book has landed early, and we are beginning to get emails about Magic Triumphs. We provided a place for you to talk with other readers. On top of this blog, there is a stickied post, which means it will stay on top no matter what else we post. That post lists some threads where you can discuss the book and the series with other readers.
Some of you are very sad that the series is over. We understand, but we feel Kate and Curran earned their HEA.
It doesn’t mean that this is a permanent goodbye. We are still hoping to get Roman’s series off the ground. Another Hugh book is slated for 2019, and some of the familiar faces will be showing up. I’m sure there will be novellas featuring Kate in the future. Possibly even novels, although not for a while and probably never again in a 10 book arc. That was a long series. Toward the end the books were very draining.
So more stories are coming, but this story, the one about Kate and Roland, is finished. It’s a good place to stop. 🙂
Thank you for hanging out with us for all these years. But don’t go anywhere. More cool stuff is coming.
ROMAN!!!! YEEE-EEESSSSS!!!!! ::Happysquee:: =)
Yeah, right? I didn’t know that was a definite! Bring on the Eeyore pajamas!
Well, it isn’t. They said they still HOPE to get the Roman series off the ground. But I have hoped for a Roman book ever since we met him. How intriguing is a character like him, who is the priest of a really nasty god but keeps it separate from his own very likeable personality? That just opens up new vistas in my mind. Throw in his extremely volatile family life and you have all kinds of openings for stories. =)
Bring it!
+1+1+1+1
I may or may not have multiple personalities
I’m very intrigued by Roman. A good guy who’s the devoted priest of an evil god. When Kate and Curran visit to ask him to officiate at the wedding, there’s a joke about keeping a sacrificial virgin chained in the basement and it always made me wonder…. Was he kidding? I look very forward to learning more about the sexy Russian volhv.
Even Erra said to Kate Roman was cute. ?
Indeed she did! I forgot that part…. of the City Eater* thinks you are cute, then boy deserves a series.
*Oops, Excuse me – the Rose of Tigris.
Also, if you’re taking requests, “Technomancer”, ANOTHER sexy Russian bad guy…..I’d love to find out what happens…???
Agree!
I agree, I’d love to see Technomancer. I’d read any story you wrote, but Technomancer was my fave from the treasure chest. Trunk. Whatever.
No, wait, I think I liked Emily better. The one with the tank.
Okay, I admit it, I liked them all.
As if we would ever leave you!
Right?
Totally right!
+1
Not even a consideration.
You keep writing – even grocery lists – we will keep reading.
Thank you for all the amazing goodies we have already shared. Looking forward to many more, of various types and sizes.
I’m not sure the BDH has a motto, but in my opinion it should be:
IT MUST BE MINE!*
(*With apologies to John Kovalic for bare-faced theft.)
??
Another motto: gimme more!
We’ll miss Kate for the near future but still a week to go in the uk.
Plus other characters need their time and there are some good ones in both Kate’s world and other worlds HL and IK.
Thank you for these books and I started with a questionable client in an anthology I bought for another author ?
I started with the anthology as well,,, best book I ever bought, it has opened up whole new worlds.
I’m in the UK…. has it landed early????? Have to wait to get home late tonight to check the kindle…. arhghghghgh!!!
No news from Amazon, dammit!
I am asuming it is only paper copies that were unpacked early?
It seems so- perhaps if I order the paper copy it will be here before the 28th 🙂
Amazon UK seems to say 28th for both kindle and paper versions so I may have to put my big girl pants on and wait. The thought of more Roman stories and his eyeore pyjamas (with him in them obvs.) is helping lots though
My Amazon UK kindle order is still showing 28th. Just checked the order page in case it had changed!
Forbidden Planet has copies with signed bookplates in – they are available in the London Store and online.
oooooh, thank you 🙂
dashed off to forbidden planet website to check… and ORDERED A SIGNED COPY…. [dances with glee]
Signed?? On top of all the writing they’ve been doing lately? No wonder Ilona’s hands became unhappy. The authorlords truly go above and beyond for their readers.
@Rachel – awesome. Hope they ship it quickly for you.
Thanks! Ordered.
@LCG Yay. Hope it get’s there quickly for you.
A Roman book??? ❤️❤️❤️
I want to thank you and Gordon for such an incredible series. I loved each and every book. I loved the feeling of anticipation that I had before each book came out and then the joy of reading and escaping into a fantastic other world where I loved the characters, their humor and the adventures Kate and Curran. Bravo!
Aw, you read my mind. I just posted how sad I was on my reading group.
Roman is a lot of fun, but I want more Derek and Julie, pleasepleaseplease
Same here!
Me too!!
+1
Yes, please, more Julie and Derek!
We would all really like another “Magic Stars” type of book!
No thank you for creating worlds and characters that make us happy.
Love to see more of Roman and Hugh. Add another novella or two about the Boy Wonder & Julie to the list. 😀 Hey . . . I’m happy to read anything you two write. Not fussy at all. LOL
Yup.
I can’t wait to see who Roman end up with.
You know, some ou is just keep re-reading these books because it’s like revising old friends. Your characters are so alive!?
You mean Europe got the book a week early? Waahhhh! So not fair!
Just out of curiosity, why did they get it so early?
We didn’t, at least not in NL or Amazons UK or DE. Sigh.
Yeah!! I’m in the US and I’m almost foaming at the mouth waiting for the preciousssss!
It depends on the wholesaler – Baker & Taylor, Ingram etc. Sometimes we get books weeks early. And sometimes weeks late.
This time we lucked out – next time we mightn’t.
Also embargoing for USA best seller lists is irrelevant here as we don’t count towards the numbers (may be wrong on that though!).
Roman?!?! Yea!!! Actually, I have thoroughly enjoyed (over and over and over) everything you have written. You bring me escape, laughter, excitement, tears, and contentment with your writing. Thank you. This week will crawl by at a snail’s pace.
+1
Thank you for all the years of Kate and her stories. I’ve been reading since the very beginning (2007) and I’ve loved each book a little more. While I’m sad this story is complete, I look forward to many more adventures from you in the future.
As a librarian, I will continue to put your books in the hands of my patrons because your stories always deliver.
Congratulations on a wonderful conclusion and best wishes for your tour and your pre release jitters.
Someone gave me a copy of Magic Binds when I was in the hospital after a very very serious illness. I was immediately hooked! I have since read and re-read all the Kate Daniels, Hidden Legacy, Innkeeper, Edge, Etc. etc., that I have been able to get my greedy bdh paws on! I confess gleefully to a full blown AL addiction. It has filled many an hour of sleepless night, helped me through loss, illness, depression, sorrow, well you get the picture. Bless you both for the joy and pleasure you bring to the Reading pubilc and for your patience with us BDH who love you so much.
I love everything you guys write, I will continue to read what you write. Looking forward to more Hugh.. I will always love Kate and Curran that is how I fell in love with your books!!! Just keep writing….
ROMAN! ::swoon:: Yes, please. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to Kate and Curran, but Здравствуйте to the volhv of Chernobog! Thank you!
Yay! Happy to hear Roman is in the works and love Hugh’s story but I am ecstatic to hear you may do more Kate & Curran in the future. Really love all your characters, Kate is one of my favorites, thank you.
Being “drained” is an excellent reason to stop a series! Too many other writers go on, even when their heart isn’t in it and it shows. It also made me realize how hard it can become remembering all the characters personalities, backgrounds, etc… As a reader, I only have to remember the final addition, not all of the aborted incidents, plot lines – I don’t know how you remember it all! I’m lucky if I can remember what I had for breakfast. lol I’m happy to read anything you’re happy to write, but I’m also very happy that the KD world is one your considering returning to in the future. It’s an extremely interesting universe and one I am grateful to explore with you in the future. (I live near Philadelphia, so wouldn’t mind more about Siaman’s cousin.) Loved all of your other worlds and plots – Edge, KD, Innkeepers, Alphas, Kinsmen, Maud, Hugh, George, anyone you want to write about, I’ll read. It’s so interesting exploring “Alternative Realities” with you both.
+1
I completely agree with this statement. It’s better to end it (for now) until you feel excited and inspired again rather than continue writing a series and destroying the characters you worked so hard to build.
My sentiments exactly!! There are a few series out there that went on too long and got repeatative and unbelievable at the end. Particularly when the Big Bad becomes too big or the hero becomes too powerful and needs a bigger bad guy to defeat. I have loved the Kate Daniels world but I am glad they will get their HEA and that the story will bow out on a high.
I also really love the Hidden Legacy world and am completely addicted to the Innkeeper world too. So I will keeping up with those and returning to Kate repeatedly.!! ? ?
And if Kate and Curran ever decide to jump back onto center stage, who’s going to tell them “no”?
I cant wait for hugh and kates offspring to meet! Just wishful thinking….
Ooooo…good thought. Maybe a way off in the future story?
Can you imagine? It would be awesome. Love or hate at first sight maybe? Curran’s head would explode!
You write (grocery lists, Kids I and 2 soccer scores, receipts, books, novellas, short poems), we read (gladly). simple?
I always thought it was good I didn’t live near them or I be raiding their trash for anything they write – not really, that would be “stalker” creepy, but if someone dropped them off, I’d read them.
I’ve been hoping for a Roman book for a long time! Very excited that there may be one. I love Roman, he’s so sweet and funny for a priest of darkness. He deserves happiness, I hope you give him some.
OK I am sad because I am traveling in Europe but can’t download KD early – I live in NYC 🙁 OK I am not too sad – I am in the Alps and I hopefully I can download KD before my flight home on the 28th.
I love the KD series but I love all your other stuff too and 10 books in a series is a lot. It would be like an actor playing the same role for 10+ years – a change of scenery is needed. Looking forward to KD 10 and all the other good things to come!
All hail the Author Lords!
Hail!!!
Hail!
I just thought of the scene in Return of the King where Theoden salutes the victorious dead with a tanker of ale in his hand. Only my drink is cold tea.
Thank you. I will happily read anything you want to write.
Bring on the Eeyore. Roman will have an amazing story. Just riding a God even if said God was riding him technically. Peace light and love. K?
Will Julie and Derek get more books? It did say Grey Wolf Book 1 ?
Roman? YES! We love Roman. He brings jokes. But truly, I will miss Kate and Curran. I’ve read so much of UF and Romance and the way those two relate to each other is just so wonderful. It’s hard for me to nail down my fave moment, but the scene in Magic Burns after Curran loses Julie. There’s this very raw vulnerability in that moment. Love it. Love them. Will miss them terribly. Well, not really as I will read the stories again and again.
Thank you for the wonderful adventure! Will always look forward to the stories you tell and Will always be here. ??
Roman <3<3<3<3<3<3
Hugh <3<3<3<3<3<3
YES, ROMAN!!!! I will literally go out and buy Eeyore pajama pants to read his books in, not even kidding. Can’t wait for Hugh’s next book and *hopefully* maybe more about Derek and Julie…Kate and Curran have been one of my very most favorite couples of all the thousands of books I’ve read and the best part is that I can go back and re-read the whole thing whenever I miss them. Thank you so much for putting such an amazing piece of work into the universe, Authorlords!
?? to the Eeyore pjs. I liked Roman even more when I read he wore them.
LO, those many years ago, when I picked up a book called Magic Bites by an unknown author, I never expected it to go to 10 books. either. Looking forward to next Tuesday.
I started with Book 4, then read backwards, the read forwards again. I do feel more invested in this series than in any other, except maybe the Outlander books. (But I read the first one of those back in 1991 when I was 20 years old, and now I’m 47, so I’ve been invested in that series for literally MORE than half my life.)
+1 right there with you on both counts!
Oh, yes… I’d love to read more about Roman.
And part of me hopes we’ll see Julie & friends later down the road.
I’m glad Kate and Curran get their HEA. I’m also super grateful we get more from their world. A million times THANK YOU!
I really hope for more Derek. He deserves a full book or two, or……
Can’t help but be sad about Kate ending. I realize we will have glimpses, but she and Curran are just so awesome. I will be eternally optimistic about your hint of novellas and possible novels in the future. I’m sitting on my hands.
Sending Thank You hugs your way.
I know people are sad to see the end of the Kate and Curren arc and I am too a bit but mostly I am excited to see the new characters you bring into the spotlight, side characters or new ones altogether. The future is bright with the new stories I hope you will share with us! 😀
I am re-reading the lot of them and hope to be finished by the release date.
I have loved every book in this series, but I agree that they have earned their HEA. It is a rare event that I like every book in a series as long as this one and I fear that having more books in this same Arc would become too much.
I really hope the roman series becomes a reality and i would like to see more of Derek and Julie and the Dragon-guy (although for the love of all that is holy don’t place Julie in a love-triangle!).
Thank you for all the books you have given us, and I will be there for the next ones.
Thank goodness you will do more Kate and Curran in the future. It will be good to see the end of Roland! Also, thank goodness you have other series to keep us all entertained with your wonderous novels. I love them all. The future is good.
I’m learning patience, and I discovered a new to me collection of your short stories. Loved the one with Saiman’s cousin. In 1 more week I’ll get to read the HEA. Wahoo!
I love Kate and Curran. But some series drag on too long and I’m glad y’all are stopping at a good point. (To be clear, they have NOT dragged on too long! But they could’ve gotten there.) They deserve to rest and be happy for awhile. If inspiration strikes and it works out with publishers, I would love to read more about Julie. I think she has a lot of story in her.
Am I the only one kind of shipping Julie and Ascanio? and maybe the dragon guy? She and Derek are kind of like brother and sister, since Curran is his surrogate Dad and Kate is her surrogate Mom, plus most of the time when you grow up with someone it does not foster romantic feelings. Julie still pretty young, I’d enjoy reading about how she matures and grows and becomes a confident investigator all on her own.
I’m still a Derek and Julie fan, but I admit that back in the days when I was a romance reader, my favorite plot was when the main characters were childhood friends who grew into love with one another as they got older. I think it’s the idea of being with someone who knows you so well, who knows all your history, and who has seen you at your worst (most ill-behaved, most embarrassing and unflattering, etc.) and yet they still love you because they accept all of who you are. I like that Derek and Julie have been together since they were kids (well, 12 & 16, is that right?).
Could you please modify the post, because the book most certainly hasn’t “landed” in all of Europe. Only Forbidden Planet has signed copies and those are apparently available already.
Amazon for Germany and UK will only hand it over on the 28th :-((
Got my hopes up for a frantic 10 minutes … now I need chocolate *sigh*
We’re only sad because they’re such wonderful characters. Characters with such depth and personality that they become part of us reader’s lives, friends, family. Take our sadness as a huge “hats off” to the wonderful job you two have done, not every author is capable of writing such fantastic and realistic characters. And a big THANK YOU for the adventure!
So stressed today about family health issues that I ate a bag of Funyuns because that is what the Olivere? lady in Innkeeper does and I hate these things but…. I need something.
I got to “We are still hoping to get Roman’s series off the ground.” and my brain immediately started shouting “EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!” like a toddler who was given coffee and a puppy (which made it very difficult to read the rest of this post).
I mean, I was *already* excited by getting more Hugh…
PleaseMa’am/SirWe’dLikeSomeMore
lmao

Ahh, but we all know this will give you time to create all new worlds and people to fill those worlds for us to fall in love with in the future. So, in reality, this is a win-win for your readers! Thank you for all the wonder you have given us so far.
Ilona, Gordon, thanks so much for taking us through the story with you. Looking forward to the last book (which has just been ordered from Forbidden Planet thanks to Kerri). I reckon I have time to reread the rest of the series first! (sadly for me, I read really quickly. They go too soon).
I can still just about remember how fresh and different your writing, world building, and even genre was when I first got Magic Bites all those years ago. I’ve loved following Kate’s journey, and whilst sad to see her go, you’ve given us so many other brilliant characters and worlds. Thanks again – and I hope you get to really enjoy your launch day and tours.
whaaat, I’m in Europe (still) and I don’t have it! woeface
?? to end on a high note with Kate and Curran. Thank you.
Nalini Singh did the same thing with her Psy-Changling series. Nalini thought it was time to switch the focus from the Psy and changling aspect of her series to focusing more on the Psy and human people in her Trinity series. Everyone who read the original arc thought she was ending the entire series and almost had a collective heart attack.
Aand…now Im really sad .But there is a Hope so….waiting for Roman.
I have wanted to buy audiobook on audible, but I can´t. It is region locked for USA and Canada. :-(((
To top bad news, today is 50th anniversary of Russian/Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia (I am Czech). From the news I have heard, one half of Russians does not even know it happened and other doesn´t regret it at all…
I really do hope we get Roman, I would like to read from his perspective his interaction with Chernobog.
Ilona once mentioned a possible Roman trilogy. I, for one, would love that! Love, love, love Roman!
I always picture Adam Driver as Roman.
That’s great casting. I couldn’t agree more
I love what you’re writing, I’m not leaving you, love you guys, thank you for all those years, for working hard and giving us Kate Daniels, can’t wait to read Magic Triumphs ~~~ 🙂
Europe has it before us, how did that happen? Oh well, I won’t be able to read it until the next day anyway, such is life.
I’ll be loyal…loyally re-reading them over and over again as I have since we started this journey! Thank you for Kate and her world.
What makes your books so amazing ate the supporting characters. They are all people we want to know more about. You make each of your characters so entertaining. I love Deisandra and feel that her character definitely has opportunity to find a HEA while growing as a leader and mother.
I am really sad that the Kate arc is ending but am excited about future novels in their world. Thank you for the stories they allow me to escape when I’m having a rough day.
Ditto!
I’ll be sad that it’s over, but glad that Kate and Roland will have resolved and Kate and Curran get they’re HEA. I agree, they do deserve it. The Kate world is rich with so many interesting characters I look forward to you guys hopefully giving more of them a chance to tell their stories.
Can’t wait to read it, I’ll prob get teary eyes. But Roman and more Hugh, and hopefully more Julie and Dali and everyone else later… That’s exciting too.
The Dali stories are what got me to the whole KD world – especially loved Dali racing cars even though she wears serious prescription glasses. My teenaged self really appreciates her sass!?
Definitely agree. I really like that Dali can get under Jim’s skin real fast. Her driving makes him just about break out in hives. Pookie and Dali’s rock! ?
Dali….autocorrupt at work.
Its always sad to have an ending- but I am excited to see where you go now! I love your writing and I can’t wait for the next new adventure!
I am sad, because I hate saying goodbye, but I agree that Kate and Curran have earned their HEA. Can’t wait to read it. Thank you for all these years of adventures with these wonderful badass women (Kate, Andrea, Julie and Desandra, and remembering Aunt Bea) and their guys. ?
I’m still begging for more Julie and Derek… I loved Magic Stars. I want more… well, actually I want more of the Dragon too… and Roman, and Hugh…
And Innkeeper collateral, and, well…
Get To Writing! I really don’t care what you write about, just write! Or dictate…
I can happily say that you two are among only a tiny few authors that I devour without even reading the blurb… you, Patricia Briggs, Anne Bishop, Jim Butcher, Wen Spencer, and Nalini Singh.
And I have worn out my first edition paperbacks of everyone of them… 😀
Oooooh, two new names for me there. I’ve not read Jim Butcher and Wen Spencer. All the rest are in auto-buy for me. ?
Wen Spencer writes slowly, but, boy, does her stuff pack a punch!
She has the best first line of any book I have ever read:
“The wargs chased the elf over Pittsburg Scrap and Salvage’s tall chain-link fence shortly after the hyperphase gate powered down.”
“Tinker”, page 1.
Boom! Tell me you don’t want to know what comes next.
Enjoy!
How about this first line: On one otherwise normal Tuesday evening I had the chance to live the American dream. I was able to throw my incompetent jackass of a boss from a fourteenth-story window. ?
From monster Hunter international.
Too long. Not a fan of that series in general.
But I have a few for you.
“Tuesday at dawn, Los Angeles trembled.” Dean Koontz, Whispers.
“Every summer Lin Kong returned to Goose Village to divorce his wife, Shuyu.” Ha Jin, Waiting
” It was the day my grandmother exploded.” Iain M. Banks, The Crow Road.
And of course nothing beats “Call me Ishmael.” 🙂
I agree with your list of favorite authors 100%…and yet I return to the IA books more than any of the others. It’s the texture and quality of the writing. Characters have distinct, consistent voices. The plotting is tight, but the pleasure for me is in the details. I return to scenes over and over just to enjoy the cinematic sweep. All of IA’s writing creates such vivid images that the stories really do come to life.
My appreciation Of their craft grew even more after reading the blog posts on writing style and their critiques. When reading an IA book there’s never any confusion about who’s speaking or what’s happening. Never a “really?!” because a character’s thought or action doesn’t ring true. I always feel that I’m in good hands when reading an IS story, whether it’s an Innkeeper chapter (in this age of bingeing the weekly serial is a rare torture—uh, treat), Kate or Hidden Legacy. That’s all too rare in a world of self-published and seemingly unedited wish fulfillment fantasies that leave me with whiplash from trying to follow the characters’ monologues that go on and on.
So thank you IA for caring, for not phoning it in during the long Kate arc, and for being so generous and patient with fans who say “write faster!” You’ve spoiled us by being so damn good.
The possibility of Roman makes me SO MUCH less sad. Because Kate and Curran have earned their HEA multiple times over, and Roman is one of my all-time favorite side characters. I REALLY want to watch him fall 😀
Where in Europe? I live in Austria, and have just checked Amazons Germany, England, France, and Italy, and all say the 28th or the 30th. I have it on pre-order for Kindle from Amazon US, but I would happily buy a paper copy to get it in two days instead of a WHOLE WEEK. So where in Europe?
Check your local store for paper copy. They went on sale this week.
Brb going shopping
Wait it is 00:41
Dammit
Hmmmm…. If I fly to Europe and get the book, I think I’ll be back yesterday, with the time change. Then I’ll know today already what happened.
Time travel is fun.
You sound like Nalini Singh. She mentions on her blog that she lives “in the future” since she lives in New Zealand.
If you lived here in Alaska the 180 parallel goes thru. We are the furthest east and west you can go. I’ve always wondered if I kept going forwards and back again across it…would I stay forever young.
Siobhan
My comment was just really weird. It should have read “Thanks!” Not my name.
I found it. And I can’t justify an extra 30€ at the end of the month to have it 4 days earlier. I will have to settle for hating everyone who has it already with an intensity equal to how desperately I want it.
So there it is: I hate you all. Furiously and passionately. I’m going to go reread Maud’s novella now.
Hey,
you can’t hate me … I wanted to find it desperately here in West Germany and cancel my Amazon preorder for the hardcover version (a brilliant and exciting plan) but could not get it at a bookstore. ?.
But I will probably – maybe – survive waiting another 4 days …
I’m only hating those people who already have it, I swear! I’m including everyone who got an ARC and the AL’s editors, beta-readers*, proofreaders, family, friends, and dogs in that as well.
MINE. NOW.
From the bottom of my nefarious, envy-ridden little** heart.
___________
*Even though I don’t think I want to be a beta-reader for IA. I love the finished books too much.
**it’s really small. Tiny.
SF Bookstore, In Gamla Stan (Old Town) in Stockholm,Sweden. I saw copies on display on 8.20.18…
Congratulations! You Authorlords are on my list of people “with stick-to-it-ness”, and so to be held in esteem.
I’m in Australia and thought i’d just check our local book store and NO they don’t have it yet for sale. And to make it even worse, its not available here to the 15/9. WT Lucky I’ve got an ereader 🙂
I’m sad to see the end of this series with Kate and Curran–but they do deserve a HEA. I will happily read any and every thing you care to write in the future. I am currently rereading the entire Kate series to be prepared for the final book. I can’t wait for it! You guys rock!!
After 10 books Kate and Curran deserve HEA . They have been through so much, and we the BDH have been with Ilona and Gordon each word, sentence and paragraph.
It has been and continues to be one of the most exciting, dramatic, difficult (Aunt B it still hurts to think of her sacrifice) and funny( Grendel, Ascanio just in his teenage angst) series.
The Kate Daniels series not only told stories but showed the qualities of loyalty, courage , stubbornness and ultimate the power of family and love.
And the stories are just as wonderful on the second, third time you read them .
And don’t forget the Princess Bride quotes.
Thank you for making such a outstanding reading experience.
And yes , I will keep reading , looking forward to more KD in any form , Roman or Julie or Derek.
And more Hidden Legacy,
And Hugh and Elara
And Helen , she has to recover.( it reminds me of the stories they told about Dickens and Little Nell in his serialized books.)
Just thank you and continued success.
Keep writing, we will keep reading.
I wish I could go to Dragon Con. But I have to work.
PS thank you to Brandi for all her hard work.
I am really happy to hear there will be a Roman novel. I do like him lots. I am hoping later for a story about Kate and Curran’s Son
Yes! I’ve been hoping and be waiting for Roman! I find him hilarious.
You are personally responsible for every penny I give to Audible. Once I fell in love with Kate, Curran and their world in print I wanted to be able to listen while doing everything else I do. Even if Renee Raudman never does another Audio for you, her characterizations made the KD, Innkeeper’s, Hidden Legacy and Edge series EXPLODE off the page for me. I have read and listened to these series so many times. They are forever an extended family in my world, now.
I mourn the end of the series while celebrating their HEA. And I’m thrilled to hear the potential for more spinoffs. No series I’ve ever read has privided such a plethora of potential for spin-off. It IS a comfort. And, no one else does that as well as you two.
To this day, I’ve cried more ugly tears over our beloved Aunt B; “Aunt B’s got you!” ( How the heck does anyone write a character that grabs your heart so fully so fast and incinerates you over her loss?). Or, Bran whose “let me go, Dove” will forever ring in my ears and whose willing sacrifice of his blood enobled him? I’m tearing up just remembering these scenes.
Or Derek, whose nobility is woven into the threads of his DNA from ground zero(yes, PLEASE, GODS!!!! give him the love and HEA he deserves!!)and who comes back from “they broke him, they broke the boy”. We knew Mauro as an almost incidental character( okay, no one in your books is really EVER incidental!) but as small as his role was his loss gutted me.
With Hughs Iron series (THANK you!!!!) I see the possible redemption for him that I’ve had a tiny kernel of hope for since first meeting him.
So, yeah, after the book comes out next week in US markets I’ll probably post a bit on the mourning threads. Tonight it just bubbled up and over.
Sure, you’re everyday people, and. I don’t deify you but boy do I cherish YOUR magic and your gifts. My storied world is forever enriched by those you have brought to life in the written word.
(p.s. I just wish I had an editor as my grammar and punctuation are horrific, I know. So, apologies for that.)
Yes. To all of it.
And Yay!!!! for Roland.
Books about Julie please. Thank you for a wonderful series. I look forward to devouring it as soon as it is out on my bookstore’s shelves.
Aaaagggggggghhhhhhhhh I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will we get more Julie and Derek stories? Please I’d love to see how their story plays out.
Wait! How come Europe already has MT? I thought it wasn’t coming out til the 28th?!?
I’m in Ireland and we get it on the 24th. Can’t wait ?
Roman’s series?? Yaaaaas!
I read everything you write but deep, deep, deep down, I would really like a series on Jim and Dali. It’s been 10 years since I picked up a KD book and you have never disappointed your readers. Well done on finishing one of the best fantasy series I have ever read!!!!
YES!!!!! ROMAN SERIES!!!
I am over the moon about this. My friend is already jumping for joy about this possibility as well.
He already looks like he belongs on a pirate romance novel cover and add in his hilarious crazy family, the volhvs, witches, and pagan god rivalries… this is a surefire win.
He’s such a great character. So dark with his God and sharp demeanor but a really good guy. His eccentric self deserves to be happy! Can you imagine the reaction of a girl coming home to a house with all of those crazy no trespassing signs and pet guard scorpion?! The fantastic possibilities are endless with a Roman series. You guys are still churning out great works! Hopefully there’s time for this one too!
Roman! Yeah!! Also Julie?
I loved (LOVED) Kate, but I can’t wait to see what else happens in their world.
What about the Grey Wolf series? Any plans to continue that?
Sad for kate.. hope to see her and Curran in the future 🙂
Thank you, so very much, for sharing Kate and friends with us. You guys are always top of my list and I will continue to look forward to everything you put out. I love seeing your snippets, even if I refuse to read them; I love surprises. Just knowing you are still creating makes me happy.
The Authorlords are the best ?
I’m going to re-read the entire series now the final book is about to drop onto my Kobo. I’ve been holding off since book 8. They’ve been on my ereader but I’ve been waiting so I can binge read through the entire series.
It’s okay to be a little sad. I confess I keep the series handy for comfort reading. Reading is something that helps calm me when I am stressed or upset, and a book I know and love helps the most. Your books are always a go-to for me. And even if I re-read the old books I will still eagerly look forward to, buy and read the new!!!!
It would be nice if I could get the books when I order them. Your publishing house is not fair in their distribution. I enjoy your books. Wish there were more to your Alpha origins series.
Not sad.. I wish all of the characters in these stories well and look forward to future fantastical world building and interesting new characters (human and not so human) from my favorite authors.. I will miss Ghastek though ?
I am prepped for the Midnite Reading to begin. I am still awake at 7am, having read stuff all night. Going to turn in now and sleep til I awaken to await the release. My tablet is charged. I have a comfy chair and my SO has been warned not to disturb me after midnight unless life is threatened.
I have to admit to being mystified and incredibly impressed that a husband/wife work partnership can function so successfully on something as intricate as a book series. My husband and I finished our basement, several years ago, on our own. ? (It was the drywall that nearly did us in.) I have been in love with him for over 20 years, but I’d probably beat him senseless if we had to closely collaborate on another long-term project. You guys are truly amazing for more reasons than just the fabulous stories and characters, lol.
Congratulation for finishing Kate and Roland’s stories! It was really a ten years of eventful journey! Thank you so so much for sharing their stories with us.
Sad this arc is over but loved it and can’t wait to see which of the other characters that you decide to explore in their own stories. Although I’m not so sure Kate and Curran’s HEA is going to be very smooth with Conlan -haha! It’s so easy to stay in your novels, they occupy alot of space in my head. Bottom line is – you write, i read. Thank you for so, so many hours of enjoyment!
