The Incomparable Brandi will be gone over the holidays. She has been working on the side modeling and she is going to New York for a week after Christmas. Below you will find her instagram with all the pretty.

We are going to spend time with the family and work on our book. If we don’t see you again until we come up for air after Christmas, happy holidays to you and yours! We wish you peace and calm, happy times with family and friends, delicious food, and no stress for this season.

    In other news, I followed the link someone left on the prior post to a ridiculously expensive log, and now my phone is putting adds for that item on EVERYTHING. It’s cracking me up because it used to show me books (which I buy a lot) or cars (which I had been searching for a lot but have purchased) or craft or gardening supplies. And now it’s just “Log!” with a helpful picture in case I wasn’t sure what a log looks like.

    Thought the BDH and Authorlords might find that amusing.

    • I love going down 5th avenue near Grand Central Station this time of year, with the decorations and shop windows: it’s fun!

      Brandi if you’re doing Times Square NYE, plan ahead (it’s cold of course + security restrictions), and be aware and onow your emergency exits. In past years the NYPD has foiled attack plans there including bombs.

      If you head to Rockefeller center, The Japanese book store Kinokuniya is nearby (unless they moved). By the Central Library is used bookseller Book Off, which has tons of manga.

      I’m personally a sucker for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with their transplanted Egyptian Temple under their roof.

    I’ve recently acquired a housemate at the zendo, and while neither of us are Christmas celebrators, we’re planning to hang out for some of those days, cook, do Taiji and yoga, and if we have time she’s hoping to learn to knit. (…maybe we can stop by the yarn store? My one pair of circular needles is in use, and otherwise I have a few sets of double ended needles, which isn’t what I’d recommend for learning on…) Ahem, and some figure creation, but that should be pretty light and pleasant.

    And then I get to fly back to Seattle for New Year’s, which I was figuring I wouldn’t be able to! (…and take a nice break until I shoot a few videos from JOVE when I get back. Bleh. Though FormerPI is bribing me with the really stylish labcoat. …and sadly, I’m not joking.)

    One of the things I enjoy at this time of year is keeping my eye on a certain webcam.

    Famously today the small town of Gavle, Sweden builds a huge multi-story straw goat (a giant yule buck), and apparently it tends to get vandalized and burned down, a recent 20-minute English friendly documentary pointing to it being a modern-day example of Christianity and Paganism butting heads, which you can view at THE GUARDIAN. You can also wikipedia it for the history. One year the goat was abducted ny helicopter!

    Here is a picture from Rockefeller Center in NYC this morning at 7am. I was out walking my dog. The tree this year is 72 feet tall and 45 feet wide.
