"buy my book", Blog, Maggie 100 Comments | POST A COMMENT April 2, 2026 by Moderator R

Happy release day to everyone receiving the Tor UK edition of This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me today!

If you want your own copy, here are some of the retailer links:

WATERSTONES
Blackwell’s

I know it meant more w*iting for us, and the two extra days were torturous enough to make the stiffest upper lip wobble.

And there’s even more good news to celebrate: This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me has been named one of Amazon’s Best Science Fiction & Fantasy Books of April, while also holding a strong lead in major categories like Epic Fantasy and Romantic Fantasy.

Huge congratulations to House Andrews on such an outstanding launch and to the Book Devouring Horde for coming out in force to welcome it!

I have lists of all the great questions you shared on the spoiler discussion post and I love how everyone is interacting with the story. While we wait for House Andrews to come back from the signing tour and join the discussion, you can read this interview they did for the April issue of BookPage.

One more hype and I’m done: This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me has also been selected as part of Book of the Month’s April lineup! It’s so exciting to see it included, and we’re grateful to @bookofthemonth for the support.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I will be heading to my local Waterstones to ever so subtly nudge their copies of This Kingdom to their best, most visible lives on the shelves. Public mod service.

UPDATE FROM THE SIGNING TOUR:

House Andrews are signing extras everywhere they go! In case you didn’t manage to make it to the events, but are in the vicinity, you can still grab your own signed copies:

The Barnes& Noble Arboretum in Austin, Tropes and Trifles in Minnesota, and Joseph Beth in Lexington have numerous signed copies of This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me.

In addition, B&N Austin has signed Hidden Legacy copies.

Tropes and Trifles has signed copies of Beast Business, Inheritance, Sanctuary, and Innkeeper and Hidden Legacy (including the little paperbacks which are being phased out).

Bought a signed waterstone copy to gift my friend for her birthday – I am so happy, I got one. Sadly only one since it was a one order limit per customer, but I might splurge on a special edition down the road. I keep hoping Subterrean Press will do one with all the pretty artwork inside. Then I will spend as much on shipping as on the book, to get my grubby mitts on it 😀

UK folks, I feel your pain. Because Steve and the ferrets let me down, I have to w@it until the weekend to dive into Maggie.

I didn’t think getting my building shut down would be that difficult. Maybe I didn’t fill out the form early enough for ferret shenanigans? DID STEVE GET LOST? Are he and the ferrets wandering aimlessly trying to free various Horde members from work so that they can read? Do I just need to stay in line?

(If you can’t tell, I have undying love for the idea of Steve and the ferrets.)

Fortunately, it’s a holiday weekend for us, so yay! reading time!

The Waterstones copy did look pretty but mine is equally beautiful with the added advantage of being delivered last week. ( I also have the kindle edition and audible)… not a member of the Book Devouring Horde for nothing.

Now the UK faction of the Horde will now understand why we of the US faction of the Horde couldn’t say a particular name in the spoiler section. Mod R didn’t want us to ruin it for the rest of you.

I’m re-reading This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me for the second time from the start. No skipping the chapters this time like I did for the first read since I had bought the teaser chapters before the entire book came out.

Now, we need Steve and the ferrets to sneak Maggie #2 out. 😉

All the Best to House Andrews.
My masterplan was torpedoed by Amazon Germany today, when instead of delivering my very pretty flower edges UK edition, they send me an email postponing in to April 26 -.- .
Luckily I also spent my money on a digital copy which I have already read. But my cozy real-book second read through won’t happen as planned now.
Well, at least I didn’t have to w**t for the story.
Now I will only have to practice p*tience until I get the physical copy.

What a great interview and awesome that This Kingdom is one of the top Science Fiction Fantasy books on Amazon!

I really love this book! I’m close to the end, but going slowly now to savor it. Then I need to go to the spoiler posts and add specifics.

When I went to my local bookstore to pick up my hardback copy that they had waiting, I noticed that they didn’t have any copies on the shelf. When I asked about that, they looked it up in their computer and the 4 copies they had on hand were all being held for someone and they already had 4 more on order. For this local independent bookstore, those are a lot of copies to have on hand. I’m going to keep working on them to get more copies in.

Happily my Waterstones were obviously a bit confused and my hardback arrived yesterday so naturally I read it instead of waiting for Amazon to send my ebook.

Bloody loved TKWNKM (the acronym is seriously giving me HWFWM), but I need the sequel now, and I do mean now. That ending was so unbelievably shocking, I avoid cliffhangers normally and it was just so unexpected from House Andrews!

As a result I’m feeling extremely BDH. As in – Steve storm the publishing house ‘horde’; or Steve pull out the ripper cushions ‘horde’; or Steve fetch the ferrets ‘horde’.

Just basically really damn bloody ‘HORDE’.

So pleeeeeease, (yet also at your own pace, and on your own schedule, and of course, please don’t overdo it either), but please write (like an unholy demon from the darkest depths of a demented hell) and provide book 2 (maybe also book 3 just to be safe?) as soon as humanly possible (immediately, maybe yesterday even).
Please. For the sake of myself (my sanity) and the horde (and Steve. And so the ferrets can have a well earned rest). I’m not begging (I’m pleading with extreme vehemence and lack of dignity and considerable desperation), but I just feel a polite warning that I’m probably not the only eager (anxious and extremely delusional) horde member that is really wanting (urgently needing) the sequel soon (right the hell now). So it’s actually a public service announcement (cry for help/emergency alert/urgent warning) that your excellent book (really, really, really excellent book) has unleashed a potential (unquestionably definite) problem (tsunami of monumental proportions) and the sequel should resolve this (the sooner the better).

By the way I really enjoyed the book and am really looking forward to book two, however long it takes. (In case that wasn’t clear 😉). And of course I was just joking. . . mostly. . .

    1. If House Andrews is 1/2 way through Maggie book 2, does that mean we have a chance of seeing the sequel next year?

    2. They happened to mention they were working on a Hidden Legacy novella. Is that Beast Business? Or is there another one in the works?

I got my uploaded E-book on release day. I went to the local Barnes and Noble to purchase a hard copy yesterday (April 2). although it does not have the pretty hard cover edges like the UK and other special editions have, nor is it signed since I am not near anywhere that House Andrews will be visiting.

However, I am so happy to have the hard cover to add to my collection.

    Happy Easter to all.

No! The last answer in the interview – They say that they’re finishing a novella in Hidden Legacy world and for a minute I was so exited! Then I thought, well how is it that I did not know that??? Then it hit me. I already read it. I mean, I can re-read, but I thought we were getting a new book really soon…

There should be a disclaimer about interview timeline for the members of the BDH and seriously what were they thinking, doing the interview a while back and only printing it now??

I recommended KD to the bookstore employees while picking up my Maggie copy yesterday and explaining how the Fandom had been excited about this book for two or three years!

Mine arrived on Monday and ai can confirm it is a gorgeous book. I have sadly managed to get spaghetti bolognese stains on it because I did not think my life through properly. I am devastated.

Isn’t that what the antiquarians call patina, Maria? 😉

What a blessing you are for the collectors two centuries hence, especially if you can come up with a Steve-and-ferrets tale to explain it with. A few mysterious words on the subject jotted in a margin or in a corner of the endpaper should do nicely to nail home the legend…

I loved the book!! As a avid member of the. BDH I want the next one now!!!!
(When there a lot of characters I sometimes get confused and a Cast of Characters would be helpful.)

    Hi Horde!

A tip from my local librarian- if you are in the United States, and you want one of the UK versions with the darker colors, and pretty page edges, Blackwells will ship to the US. I don’t think they have the Waterstones one, but the one they do have is very pretty!

I bought the ebook from Kobo the day of release but I won’t let myself start it because I can’t afford to stay up all night reading it (which I know I would) because I prepare taxes and it’s April 3. Twelve more days and then I can binge read!!

Reading everyone’s comments is making it harder to w*it!!

Is there a reason Google Play books is not among the retailer links?
I hope it’s not because Google doesn’t pay the authors.

Google is the only one selling Adobe DRM epubs, which I can export to my PocketBook.
All the other retailers only let you read on their own ereader or an their app on your phone.

This Kingdom is available widely at hundreds, if not thousands of retailers. We cannot possibly link them all on the blog 🙂.
If you have a favourite book retailer, please search their catalog, you will likely find Maggie.

      Patricia,
Try Kobo, they also sell the ePub version. Not DRM protected so you can read it on any ePub app, including Adobe Digital Editions.

My delightful little sugar lumpkins ate my beautiful two day old book.
He is a precious white mountain rabbit who looks like he’s planning a heist. He once tried to explore the chimney, which being a white furried the little man met with immediate suspicion. He looks at me with ruby eyes, like a scene from the Godfather
    “What you gonna do…?”
I made it to chapter 11….buying book again….. This time I’m not going to fall asleep while Bun-NY is out free from cell on good behavior/daily yard time.

This may be my favorite of your books! The ‘into another world’ genre has gained popularity and I really love it, but as a genre it’s generally not written with the same kind of depth and complexity as other genres and I’ve found that a bit disappointing until now. Well, problem solved! A resounding success! It just needed to be written by you two 😂 apparently. Thank you so much for Maggie’s book, I can’t w*it for the sequel 💕!
