Have to work and do all the things today, so here is a short snippet. As an aside, Gutenberg, which is the new text editor for WordPress, arbitrarily eats spaces between words when you paste from Word. Begin primal scream of rage.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences occupied a nine-story building on Old Spanish Trail. Its blocky lines, rectangular windows, and orange brick practically screamed that it housed some sort of government agency.
I maneuvered our Honda Element into the parking lot. It used to be our surveillance vehicle, but last year Grandma Frida decided to rebuild it from wheels up. Now the Element sported a new engine, a reinforced suspension, and custom dampers for enhanced shock absorption. The windows were bulletproof, and the new glass had both the safety glazing and a polycarbonate layer on the inside, so if someone did shoot at us, the windows would crack but hold together. And most importantly, the Element was now equipped with B5 level armor, which meant it would stop most handguns and shotgun blasts. It could have been armored enough to withstand a sniper shot; however, Grandma Frida reasoned that our best chance of survival was getting away fast, and armor was heavy, so she stopped at B5 and added a reinforced floor and run-flat tires.
Unfortunately, even Grandma Frida had her limits, and steering was a bit sluggish. I was used to it by now and I aimed for a parking spot in the middle row.
“So, what’s with you and Alessandro Sagredo?” Runa asked.
The steering was sluggish, but the brakes worked perfectly. I jerked forward, and my seat belt slammed me back.
“Nothing.”
“Aha.” Runa pulled on her own seat belt. “That’s why we screeched to a stop halfway into the parking space?”
“My foot slipped.” I gently eased forward and brought the Element to a smooth stop.
Last night, after Bern carried Rutger into the guest bedroom and Runa settled in on inflatable mattress next to him, I went back to my office, rescued Alessandro’s picture from my desk drawer, and brought it upstairs to my bedroom. He looked so carefree, caught in a magic moment somewhere sunny and warm. When I looked at the picture, a disquieting, unpleasant feeling squeezed my chest, not pain exactly, but a kind of discomfort. I stood in my bedroom and wished with everything I had that I was there, in the sun, with a backdrop of green mountains and Alessandro and I were going somewhere. Together.
It was stupid, and childish, and it would never be. I hid it all inside, put the picture on my nightstand, and went to bed.
“So, you’re just going to go with ‘nothing?’” Runa asked.
“That’s right.”
“Your sister said you met during your trials.”
Sistercide was not a word, but it would be after today. “Yes.”
“Yes what? Is there a story behind that?”
No. He didn’t follow me on Instagram, and he didn’t take my breath away during the trials. And he definitely didn’t show up under my window after trying to convince me to go for a drive.
“We met during the trials, and my sisters haven’t stopped trolling me about it for the last three years. There is absolutely nothing between me and Alessandro Sagredo.”
Strictly speaking, there was 5,561 miles between our warehouse and the Sagredo estate near Venice, Italy. A commercial flight with one stop could get me to Venice in thirteen hours.
“Your cheeks are turning pink,” Runa said. “Are you imagining there being nothing between you and Alessandro?”

Thank you very much, such an unexpected surprise, and I’m on my third reading of
the series, and I love it more each time.
Again, Thank you.

LOL – nice one at the end!

Oh poor Catalina. Know we will all feel as tortured as you do every step of the way.
Hooray for the return of Runa! I loved her in Diamond Fire.
mz says
+1
Sleepy says
Sorry I don’t recall, Who is Runa again?
Rossana says
Runa is the Magus Venenata from Diamond Fire who detected the poison in the icing.
Siobhan says
Catalina took a risk on making a friend, and it looks like it paid off! Awesome for her.
Andrea D Smith says
I can’t wait. Does anyone know a guestamation release date? I know Diamond Fire said 2019 but that’s a bit vague? I’m guessing late summer…
Sara says
Amazon has it listed as Aug 27 2019 but I don’t think anything has been officially announced so who knows if that is correct
Siobhan says
As I was just checking this out today… Aug 2019
https://ilona-andrews.com/whats-next/
Siobhan says
I’m guessing, since Innkeeper and Iron Covenant are self-published, and Hidden Legacy is contractual through Avon, that the Sapphire Flames date would be the one hard date on that page. For Ilona Andrews, anyway. Avon can always switch it up however they want. Like when they pulled Burn for Me. Which was weird.
Siobhan says
And I am VERY glad the AL’s ignored that “note to self” about snippets!
Phyllis says
I’m glad Runa is sticking around.
Arianna says
This. Is. So. Good!!
Thank you very much for this fantastic unexpected snippet! ?
And I really like Runa ?

Try pasting into notepad and copying from there. You will lose any text formating like bold cursive and fonts etc. But that might be the lesser evil.
Tink says
That was going to be my suggestion. Sucks, but might be the lesser of two pains.
Lynn T. says
I have had to do this too. I feel your pain, ilona Andrews. A real ticker off-er but I was forbidden from messing with computer programming code by my workplace. I have a BIL who is all kinds of certified for computer programming who just shakes his head and tells me to follow company policy which is to call the (un)help(ful) desk techs. Sigh.
There is only one tech left at Microsoft who answers his phone when I call about my home desktop system. It is a hybrid system that blows the youngsters minds. At least I am not running a dual system anymore of Linux and Microsoft.
Then I get testy with their incompetence and get shuffled off to the older gentleman who has dealt with me for awhile.
Sorry, patience, Ilona Andrews. This too will be resolved…. eventually.
FCina says
Perhaps a hard space character code may work?
Haven’t used one in decades so I don’t onow whetjer that is viable.
Alianna says
Oh, nice, thank you! I was going into withdrawal after reading the latest (Diamond Fire), and just wishing there was more! – xoxo – A.
Birgitte says
Try pasting into wordpad or even notepad and copying from there. You will lose any text formating like bold cursive and fonts etc. But that might be the lesser evil.
Jenn says
I adore your stories. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Patricia Schlorke says
Thank you for the surprise snippet. 😀
*rubbing hands gleefully* He-he-he! Catalina has a serious thing for Alessandro and trying to deny it. Nope…not going to work. Nevada tried that with Rogan and look where it got her. 🙂
Tink says
Yes, but Alessandro has a lot more miles to overcome.
We need a nickname for Alessandro. My autocorrect keeps wanting to make him a girl.
Patricia Schlorke says
How about Alex? Isn’t Alessandro Italian for Alexander?
Alex R. says
Don’t call him Alex. ?
Sandro or Sandros are common nicknames apparently. Also Ale and Alexios.
Rossana says
We call our cousin Alessandro either Aleso or Ale. Sandro is the more traditional Italian for it, I guess.
mz says
Sandro. (My cousin Alessandra is Sandra)
Elenariel says
I’m Italian and my brother is an Alessandro: you shorten it to Ale or Alex. Sandro is usually a different name on its own ?
mz says
My folks were Italian and in Toronto, this means that I’m Italian too (lol). The cousin in Italy was always called “Sandra” by everyone but when she got older, she switched back to “Alessandra”. Maybe it’s a northern Italian thing????
DianainCa says
Thank you for the snippet! Good luck with the text editor!
Tylikcat says
Thank you, and I feel so trolled! Oh, our shipping dreams!
FCina says
My age is showing: what do trolled and shipping mean?
Thank you.
Tylikcat says
Trolling means saying to writing something to deliberately rile people up. Runa was clearly a fan favorite, and there’s been talk of pairing her romantically with various characters (including Bern, who she’s sleeping next – for business reasons entirely, I’m sure). Alessandro is already the subject of a lot of hopes for Catalina. So for a short snippet, this invokes a lot of hopes and speculations that have already been voiced.
Shipping is fan speculation about romantic pairings between various characters. (This gets more complicated when fan fiction is involved, someone else might want to comment on the further nuances.) So someone might say – “I ship Runa and Bern! ❤️?❤️ Burna 4ever!!!” (There’s also a convention about combining the names of a romantic pairing into one. I think this comes from celebrity name combinations. ?♀️)
Rossana says
Cassandro is the ship name for Catalina and Alessandro, for example.
And I read it as Runa sleeping next to the Rutger guy who was put on the mattress, not next to Burn (although I do ship Burna!)
Tylikcat says
…that makes sense! I, ah, didn’t read Rutger as a guy but as an implement. Don’t mind me, I’m distracted, and it made sense in my head!
Rossana says
John Rutger is the guy in Burn for Me who was a cheating husband. Nevada’s first case that we see, right at the beginning. He has a closed military record and is some sort of electrical energy mage.
Siobhan says
I really hope it’s not the same Rutger, as he is a cheating, abusive scumbag (Nevada’s word) who attacked Nevada and who I hope would neither be in their guest bedroom nor have Runa sleeping next to him.
Rossana says
Agreed I wouldn’t want the guy coming back or being around them, but I can’t ignore that there is already a character of that name in this series. Maybe the guy’s son? Or a recycled name, but I can’t say that yet just on the basis of “but I don’t like him”.
Tylikcat says
Hey, unless another explanation pops up, we’ve already broken the only one Steve rule wrt Rene, yes?
Siobhan says
I know. I still hope it’s not the same guy.
mz says
If he’s been poisoned during something, maybe that’s why Runa is monitoring him? And Baylor Investigations has been hired to do some work that involves the scumbag so they have to keep him alive to get some answers?
Julie says
He also had a wife he wanted to kill as well as having kids. All of whom carried the same family name.
FCina says
Thanks for the clarificarion.
Christine says
Christine
Christine says
Grrr this drives me crazy when it repeats my name ?
+1 for the clarification and the snippet ?
Tylikcat says
‘Twas fun, even if my brain is mush.
It beats both the (actually fun) task of trying to explain Cards Against Humanity humor to recently arrived second language speakers at department events and more to the point, what I’m trying to write about the larger importance of slug mouths to the field of neuromechanics – and the greater good of humanity. *so much headdesking*
KC says
Also “shipping” takes the ‘ship’ from the word relationship.
Therefore ‘shipping’ refers how characters are oaured (both in canon and just among the fandom).
KC says
*paired
Bat says
Lol I was trying to fit my brain around “oar” being used as a verb somehow… it fit with the whole ship/boat theme.
Tylikcat says
Well, word play is a big part of the tradition. Hence all the highly layered jokes full of cultural referents.
Elenariel says
Oooooh! Thank you, and I’m so glad there is some Runa: I hoped her and Catalina would become friends!
Rena says
So, she knows the miles to him, how long the flight would take, etc. Hum. Interesting that she has researched that.
I wonder how she got his picture.
Alex R. says
Clearly the baby Prime doesn’t realize that she no longer has to take flights with a stop. Or fly commercial.
Siobhan says
Probably the baby Prime hasn’t made enough money in three years to charter trans-Atlantic flights, especially from US to EU. If there is an EU in this history. As said in Diamond Fire, there’s wealth and Wealth. Although I do wish there was a medium W for chartering. Cheaper than owning your own, monumentally more expensive (on long trips) than commercial.
Rossana says
Well, he still has an Instagram account. Save and print hehe.
Vala says
Oh, this is going to be so good! Cant wait!
Anonymous says
Regarding your Word pasting problem, I suspect the issue is Word’s rich text formatting. Solution: save your Word doc to a non-“rich text” format. You can do this in the Word save process. Then copy/paste from the non-rich text doc.
Alternative is to first paste to Notepad, which will auto strip the rich text formatting, then copy/paste from Notepad to you pub software.
Rexy says
Too friggin’ cute. Thank you!

Yay, more Runa! She was a little bit of a wiseass in DF, which made her fit in well with House Baylor.

Thanks for snippet. Hoped Run a would be friends with Cat and show her she can be liked by someone outside of family. Can not wait to see Cat in action with the rest of the family.

LENORE VILLA says
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
That is so cool.

Lynda MS says
I was hoping that someone (Rogan? Mrs. Rogan? Nevada? Runa?) would tell Alessandro what he did wrong with Catalina and why. Standing in front of her bedroom window and asking her to go riding with him in a Maserati convertible where his 10,000+ fans could see them and the Herald could trumpet that he prefers her is not going to win over a shy girl who only recently became known as a Prime. Plus, it would make her a target of jealous fangirls (and fanboys?). Maybe Mrs. Rogan can create a “coming out” party for the Baylors and invite Alessandro, coaching him on better ways to interact with the Baylors.
Siobhan says
What he did wrong was being so handsome that Catalina really wanted him and didn’t feel she could trust herself not to magic him into loving her.
“[w]hen I saw Alessandro, I wanted to snap my wings open as far as they could go and dazzle him with everything I had, so he would be mine forever. I liked him so much, I had to let him go.”
The e-version doesn’t have the novella page numbers, but it’s the very very end of chapter 6.
KC says
What he did wrong was failing to think through the downside of her gift.
And as we saw in DF, she has major relationship hangups with her gift. Think about it, would you trust anyone saying they lived you? And being wrong means they kill you.
KC says
Autocorrupt is killing me today.
*loving
Siobhan says
He did nothing wrong! He certainly didn’t say he loved her. He didn’t even say he LIKED her, although we assume that from his behavior*. He showed up with no symptoms of attachment and everyone knew it. This one is all Catalina — I’m not saying Catalina is wrong in any way to have the hang ups she does, but as we see in DF, she is also cementing walls that don’t necessarily have to be there any more. She says it herself, in the quote above, that it was her call, because she was too tempted.
This is a good thing! If she didn’t start out all f-ed up, there would be no room for her character to grow.
_________
*And because IA has straight out said he’ll be the male love interest. If they hadn’t said it here, then for all we know, he might be a bad guy, thinking of using her gift for his own nefarious purposes.
gingko-girl says
That wasn’t a little snippet—it was a lotta snippet!
Thanks for sharing. And good luck with all the things.
Keera says
Poor Catalina, sisters will always be trolls ???. Glad to see Runa will be in the book, she seemed pretty awesome in the novella. And Catalina might need a non family person to help her through.
Gailk says
Ohhh love snippets.
And thank you for confirming Runa is going to be in the next book.
3 years, a lot could happen. A romance between Catalina and Alessandro sounds promising. Maybe a trip to Venice and some pasta.
Ciao Bella viva romance!!

I am glad Runa is in this one too. I enjoyed her so much
Siobhan says
“Your cheeks are turning pink,” Runa said. “Are you imagining there being nothing between you and Alessandro?”
1) love this
2) it’s not just sisters who troll. It’s friends, too.
3) I hope they are friends, and not reconnecting three years later. If Runa doesn’t know about Alessandro trolling, she might not have been around Catalina much for the “last” three years.

“Begin primal scream of rage.” ROTFLMAO! I know that feeling. Happens to me all the time on my computer. I have really big fingers and hit the wrong button all the time, and then can’t figure out what went wrong or how to go back.
It is said a computer is only as good as the idiot who wrote the software…
Fun snippet. Thanx

Hahaha loved the trolling. Only real friends & sisters obviously can troll successfully 😀
Thank you, and good luck with all the things.

A wonderful surprise; thank you!

There is a plugin called Classic Editor you can install to override Gutenberg and restore the former WP editor.
mdy says
+1 to this. My site uses a WordPress site builder called Layers and it’s currently incompatible with Gutenberg. I installed the Classic Editor plug-in as well and it seems to be working fine for now.
Ilona says
I understand why this is a thing, but my worry is that any time you artificially hold back the update, you risk more and more of your website becoming obsolete and prone to security flaws. 🙁
Little Bird says
Gutenberg is still very much beta, regardless of how hard users are being pushed to adopt its use early. Classic Editor will be supported until 31st December 2021 – so you can still use it safely until then. You could roll back to Classic Editor for now and try Gutenberg again when its more stable and maybe your theme will be updated for Gutenberg integration in the meantime.
PS – I love your books.
Anna says
Thank You. I love Catalina more with her insecurities. Her power is strong but it doesn’t make her indestructible.

Thank you for the snippet – i Jay finished Diamond fire so had gone online to review it.
A brilliant route into this book and i can’t wait for her novel- also really liked some of the other characters in the novella- and it looks like Runa is back which is great as i had wandered if they could end up being mates after reading her intro in the last book.
Than you again

Still waiting for diamond fire. Apparently it’s not available here :'(
BRENDA says
Thank you! ?
Angela Shikany says
Oh, I am loving this already. Thank you!
Eva M. says
Ooooooo! 3 years? That makes her young, but marriageable!
(Hehehe) And it sounds like Alessandro is willing to wait for her to grow up before hunting her! I like him already!!!
KC says
Or he understands what being turned down means, and stopped badgering her like a gentleman should.
Nicholi says
Nice! Thank you. 🙂
Karen Alonzi says
WordPress guru/serious fan here: Don’t copy and paste directly from Word into WordPress. Instead, click the Text tab and paste any Word snippets there.
Word has a terrible habit of including extra crud that can cause problems (such as spacing issues) in later updates. The Text tab only accepts characters, so all of Word’s “extras” will be stripped out.
Ilona says
No. I have pasted from Word for 8 years. The problem isn’t Word, it’s Gutenberg.
PS. There is no Text Tab in Gutenberg. Being a WordPress guru, I’m surprised you are not among the early adopters of the plugin. WordPress 5.0 is about to ship, with Gutenberg as the default, so it maybe a good idea to get prepared.
SueB,NH says
I don’t use Word Press or any of that, but I do need to copy text from one format to another in my job (small snippets, like a sentence or two, or a small paragraph), and I’ve found that if I copy from the source, and then paste into a plain old text file (I use Windows -> Accessories -> Notepad), and then copy it fresh from the text file and paste it where I need it, all the extra, non-compatible, formatting is gone. … On another note, why does something like “i’ve” show up as a mistake, but “i” never does???
Ista in Sydney says
I was about to suggest copying to Notepad first and then to WordPress. I’ve done it at work when a Word document has been hunky and resists any attempt to fix it. Faster to strip out the formatting via a trip through Notepad and format again in a clean new doc.
Leena says
Too short!! Thanks for the snip and can’t wait for this. Get your zen on and smash the Gutenberg ?

Better and better. Thank you.

Loooove Runa I’m so glad she’ll be in the next books! Also, I love Catalina/Alessandro. There’s just something about them…
I don’t know what to think about Lina keeping a picture of Alessandro in her drawer ahah. The biggest part of me is like “aww this is so cute” and the other part is a bit reserved. It’s probably not really in her character but during those three years I hope she had a little (happy) something with someone and didn’t stay entirely focused on Alessandro (or she didn’t have something at all as long as she had the possibility to “clear” her mind a bit). I know it’s only a snippet and we don’t have every details yet so I’ll wait patiently to read the rest.
I love the world described in the books and Catalina is one of my favorite since “Burn for me”, I can’t wait!

Oh! Surprisingly enough, I know this from tutoring very basic Latin to 7th graders. Sororicide is the word for killing sisters. With the root of Soror (sister) that you can also find in sorority.
(Not suggesting an edit here. I’m just feeling like crap, but smiles because I knew this piece of random knowledge.)
Ilona says
Brilliant. I am stealing.
trailing wife says
How exciting! When the book comes out I look forward to smiling in happy remembrance when I see that word.
But it isn’t surprising that a member of the book devouring horde had the answer to a question not even asked. The breadth and depth of knowledge in this group is an absolute delight, well matched to the depth of knowledge quietly underlying the novels themselves.
KC says
Dear AL, this has ne snickering and giggling, reminds me of that crazy Harry Potter fan saying nothing got between her and the boy Wuzard, she was just wearing a towel… ?
“Your cheeks are turning pink,” Runa said. “Are you imagining there being nothing between you and Alessandro?”
Teej says
I’d say Runa & Leon except he’s probly too young for him and maybe they are too much alike? Could be a heck of a world-view there, though: “histotoxic hypoxia on your cow” meets “wait, brains, where are you going? Oh no, my feet are twitching–that’s so undignified”
Sistercide, has a nice ring to it! Might have to test drive that word a little, hee hee
Teej says
Too young for Her, dangit
John says
Iirc, Leon was aged up from 15 in BFM to 17 in Wildfire. Which should move him from just younger than Arabella to just younger than Catalina. I can’t remember if Runa was given an age in Diamond Fire.
I don’t know about full shipping, but a flirt session between those two would probably be hilarious.
Rossana says
Runa was said to be “around my age” by Catalina. So 17/18 for both.
I ship Berna (Runa+Bern), because opposites attract but Lena also makes sense.

Ive been dreaming of this. I think of him trying to make her give him a chance like “other guys are pu$$¥$ I think your poison magic is hot”. Catalina ‘s books are going to be just as awesome as Nevada’s! Thank you!
Siobhan says
That’s what I’m wondering… is Catalina getting an entire trilogy? Or will it be more like The Edge, one book per sibling?
Wont says
Thank you for this. I know you’re swamped. It was appropriately maddening. As in causing waiting pains. Sigh.
Boo hiss on Gutenberg.
Lynda MS says
I am looking into WordPress Gutenberg for my new website, and I have found conflicting advice. Some say that Word 2016 is cut and paste. Some say that HTML code will transport. There is supposed to he a switch to go back to the Classic editor, but everyone agrees that eventually Gutenberg will be the only editor that works in WordPress, and all web sites will have to change. I found this article helpful:

Interesting, *very* interesting! “Bern carried Rutger into the guest bedroom.” Wasn’t Rutger the name of the enerkinetic mage who was cheating on his wife in BFM? Who also attacked Nevada? So why is Bern carrying him into the guest bedroom? Can’t wait to find out!
isabella1987 says
wow, so Alessandro Sangredo could be my neighbor 🙂 I’m from Udine (Italy), 100 km from Venice

Many thanks for this wonderful snippet ! I hope to see all the younger Baylor family members get their novel, even if not a trilogy for each, and if that were come to pass, I’d REALLY like to have one for each of the boys. I know that your central characters are always female, and that is why, with the tentalising male POV’s you have provided us over the years, I’d like to see a full length novel for Leon and Bernard. I’d find it refreshing and very interesting to see the world and women or men, (after all I’m not fussed regarding their sexual orientation and, for some reason I can’t pinpoint, I’ve always pictured Arabella as a lesbian), from their perspectives.
Have a very happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones!
Siobhan says
The Edge split POVs between the boys & the girls. So did Iron & Magic. The boys are a possibility until the AL’s say they aren’t, dammit. I *really* want to see Bern’s romance.

As more BDH finds this out, watch those numbers get lower and lower as time goes on. 😀

So glad to see Runa back!
Also, Diamond Fire reminded us that their House was safe from other House attacks for three years. And this snippet is set … three years from when they became a House.
There is going to be so much drama!
Marlene Perez says
Just thought about this too as I was rereading the series. So excited, wonder if Nevada and Rogan have any kids yet.
Susan says
It is Thanksgiving so I have to tell you how much I appreciate your generosity with your writing. It gives me a happy feeling when you post snippets, excerpts and chapters of Innkeeper. Thank-you so much!
You make the world a bit happier when you write.

Just pondering, but if Alessandro loved Catalina for herself he would then be immune to her magic and there would be no worries. Further, she could tell it was love since her magic would not work. This assumes he could love her on their limited acquaintance, but since my husband proposed the second week I knew him, and I accepted I think it could be possible. We’ve been married 55 years and so far, so good.
Sorry, have no thoughts on the Gutenberg problem though.

After reading Diamond Fire I was just sitting here thinking “I wonder if there is going to be more Hidden Legacy with Catalina?” And apparently i missed the memo because here is a snippet! Yay! Hidden Legacy is my favorite series….Kate is awesome but something about the Hidden Legacy books just speak to me. So you know what would be amazing?! If Rogan and Nevada had twins! I know grandma Victoria said they get one child per generation but we all know Nevada and Rogan are special. And at least 1 mischievous toddler balanced by another quiet and observant toddler would be AWESOME. That’s my Christmas wish
Kristine says
Twins! Yes!
I keep imagining a telekinetic with her targeting ability. Or the telekinetic sensate Rogan’s father tried to make
Marlene Perez says
This would be great! Would love this.
Alexisa says
That’s a nice tidbit. :]
You see the problem is you both are such excellent writers that your reader want to and usually binge read your book. And then we are left with a book-hangover until the next one is released.
Siobhan says
EXACTLY. It’s worse when you are:
A) unemployed*
B) Read very very fast.
That’s when you’ve read the book 5 times in 2 days and WHERE’S THE NEXT ONE??!!
_____
*predictive text went straight to unemployable. Way to break my confidence, Apple.

Thank you.

Yaaay snippet. Eagerly awaiting the full novel.
Incidentally the word for ‘sistercide’ is ‘sororicide’ and I feel like as intelligent and adorably nerdy as Catalina is she would both know it and use it.
Deborah Armstrong says
Last time I made my father laugh before he died:
“So Daddy, what is it called when you kill someone?”
” Homicide”
“When you kill yourself?”
” Suicide”
“When you kill your mother?”
“Matricide”
” When you kill your little brother? ”
“You better…..”
” Play along here. What is it called when you kill your little brother? ”
“Fratricide”
“No.”
” OK…I give up…what IS it called when you kill your little brother? ”
“PESTICIDE”
MARLENE PEREZ says
Rereading the series and can’t wait to see more of Cornelius and how he integrated into Baylor investigators agency. Would alot love to see Agustin find a love interest. I need more of the world of hidden legacy. Love it so much.
Marlene Perez says
Another thing that sticks out is in diamond fire where Catalina said she wasn’t sure if Rogan like them or just tolarated them because he loved Nevada (or something to that extent). Really hope they get to interact more since Rogan’s mom trained her. And we get to read about it
Rubz says
I loved, no wait, LOVED, Connor……. I have a sneaky feeling that Alessandro might, just might, even be way way more better than Connor…..hmmmmm if my feeling turns out to be true then this is going to be an amazing ride to be a part of.

Just finished rereading the books so exicted for the next one. Just remembered that at the end of wildfire they said they were building a new house near where Rogan lives. Excited to read about that and all they have done in 3 yrs. What alliance they have created and what enemies are waiting. Also remembered that Nevada owes a favor for saving her grandmother. Can’t wait for them to ask. But always wondered is it a favor from house Baylor or Nevada personally. Cant wait for the new book
Marlene Perez says
I wonder if Bern or Leon will become head of security for house Baylor. Hoping more Leon, I hope he has more ambitious than becoming an assassin. I mean I’m sure the head of security will kill a lot of people defending the house. He is older than Catalina so in the next book he will be older and hopefully wiser. Also surprised Bern and Leon’s mom hasn’t show up. Once you get money or power you always find family you didn’t know you had come out of the woodwork asking for money or help. Still holding out hope for some of Rogan’s extended family to make an appearance. They were not all bad, wondering if some of them will reach out try to make amends after the mess at the wedding. Maybe the female cousins who defended Catalina. They are close to the same age so I think it can work well. I also hope Catalina has grown a bit more. When the Nevada books started she was already 25, independent head of the business. She was very mature and grown up. In Diamond fire we see Catalina coming into her own, but still a bit green. Still felt a bit like a teenager. I am super excited about the new book, re read the series last week. Kinda made me a bit more obsessed.

Dear Ilona,
Sounds like time is a precious commodity right now. Maybe Adobe Illustrator
would give you back some time and lessen the tension of too much to do and
way to little time. If you have a few dollars left, grab a copy of “Essentialism”
by Greg McKeown. My favorite book ever! He helps uber successful people
(like you) reduce the tension and get more of what you want out of each day.
The book just saved me a whole lot of money on a kitchen redo I didn’t
really need by finding a simple work around. It’s the kind of book you can keep in the bathroom and absorb it a little bit at a time.
