Hi BDH, Mod R here with registration links for all the release events around Magic Claims. Only one week to go!
There will be three events on the tour, plus giveaways and more fun on the blog, including, of course, the big spoiler thread party that happens every release night. For everyone receiving their paperback copies early, thank you for protecting your friends from untimely reveals!
I will be moderating the two events next week, and they will be streamed live and posted on the IA YouTube channel – but if you want to ask questions live, please register as places are limited. Here is a website that lets you figure out Central Time as it relates to your time zone.
Magic Claims Release Q&A
Join House Andrews in a virtul event for the release of the second installment in the Wilmington Years series, Magic Claims, on Wednesday, June 14th, at 7 pm CT.
Magic Clam Bake Brunch
A relaxed weekend seafood brunch on Saturday, June 17th, at 10 am CT. I’ll be smoothly interrogat chatting with Ilona and Gordon about the Wilmington series, spoilers, plans for future books, spoilers, and more (probably spoilers). BYOC- Bring your own clams!
Ilona Andrews and Nalini Singh in Conversation
Our friends at Ashland Library have an exciting event in store for you on Wednesday, June 21st, at 5pm ET (Boston time). Featuring Ilona Andrews and Nalini Singh, two titans of paranormal romance, in a conversation about world building, character development, keeping the ideas fresh, and anything else they can think of.
If you cannot watch live, but would still like to catch up with the authors, this program will be recorded and available on the Ashland Library’s YouTube Channel. If you would like to receive the video link directly, please fill out this form and Ashland will email you as soon as it is available to watch.
If you would like a signed book by either Nalini or Ilona and Gordon, you can order them through the bookstore event page on their partner indie bookstore website. Personalization is not possible unfortunately, as the bookplates are sent ahead of time, but here is everyone’s chance to get signed copies for their collections! And support an independent bookstore in the process, which is a win-win. For any inquires linked to orders, please contact East City Bookshop directly.
I have one more piece of news, and then I’ll be hanging out in the comments as usual in case I’ve forgotten anything- the Graphic Audio dramatized adaptation of Magic Burns will be availabe on Audible and other 3rd party retailers on the 13th of June- at the same time as the release of the clams!

Done! So excited, can hardly wait to hear ALL the spoilers hehe! Thanks HA and Mod R! The only thing better will be getting the book next week.

I’m so happy about the return of KD! She’s my hero/role model. Whenever I have to deal with the misogynists at work I imagine having a sword and kicking ass just like Kate.
Angela says
yay! Nalini and HA!
Darlene says
:waves hand:
Mod R – for Magic Burns – GA, is that the link will be available on June 13th or we can preorder now?
Panic cuz I can’t find it on Audible to preorder
>_<
Moderator R says
That’s the day it will be available- there probably won’t be a preorder period 🙂
Bibliovore says
It is available for pre-order on GA tho.
Moderator R says
It’s been released on the GA website in May- not preorder any more 🙂
AP says
Thanks Mod R! Registered for the ones I could attend.
RELEASE THE CLAMS!!!😂
Bibliovore says
Will not be attending because work. You all have fun.
Norbert says
This is veritully the best thing that happened to me today! Thank you!
Tink says
I virchually see what you did there.
Patricia Schlorke says
Thanks Mod R for all the information.
Remember to bring the lemon for the clam bake. If you don’t like lemon with your seafood, bring whatever you like, even if it’s just salt. 😁
BTW…Jessie Milhalik’s new book, Capture the Sun, will be out the week after the clams (aka Magic Claims). 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Looking forward to reading!
Judy Schultheis says
I don’t think I will register for the live things. I have trouble sitting still for more than 20 minutes at a time. But I will be happily watching the recordings.
Nalini Singh is another author I pre-order. This will be good. Thank you for that Ashland Library link.
Sleepy says
bless mod R and her extended transcripts 🙏
Virginia says
+100
MariaZ says
You can put Zoom on your cell phone and listen from there. I do a lot of meetings that way in my car or in the grocery store or just taking a walk.
Amy Ann says
Yep. The way to meet anywhere.
Sleepy says
yay, registered!
A. Russo says
Hi! Along with the book release, will the e-shop be open again for orders? I am desperately craving a mouse pad and some BDH stickers… (Apologies if this has already been asked and answered.)
Moderator R says
Hopefully, but I don’t have official confirmation. I know that’s the intent 🙂
Maria F says
Sounds like fun! I can’t attend any this time around, but look forward to recordings—and the book itself, of course!
Emily says
thank you so much for continuing to do a virtual release party. I absolutely love devouring the book and then tuning in for all the explanations and comments and side stories and spoilers. I would never be able to make it to something in person so this is fabulous.
I’m also excited to check out the store again. I know it’s so much extra work but so fun for the fans.
Karen C says
Mod R, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your transcripts. (Since I have hearing issues, the videos don’t do a lot for me.)
I know I’ve missed some along the way. Is there a place on the website where links to the various videos and transcripts can be found? If not, can there be? (With all of your copious free time and such….) I’ve tried searching the website, with rather random results.
Moderator R says
If you search for “transcript”, they all show up 🙂 – it’s only 4:
Magic Tides release: https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/magic-tides-qa-and-transcript/
Sweep of the Heart release: https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/festive-qa-recording-and-transcript/
Ruby Fever release: https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/ruby-fever-spoilerific-qa/ and
Fated Blades release https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/fated-blades-qa-video-and-transcript/
Pam F. says
So very excited about all three events. Looking forward to the conversations.
Moderator R says
This is a message for Jessica Reitz, in case you check the comments- you left a question with the issues form, but didn’t provide contact details, so unfortunately I cannot email you with the answer 😟

😭😭😭 I REALLY wanted to register for the virtual events, but I’m an Indian and currently at my In-laws place (my fellow Indians will know what that means). *sigh* I’m so glad it’ll all be recorded
Martha L says
Do you know the difference between in-laws and outlaws? Outlaws are wanted!
(My mother-in-law’s favorite joke.)
SoCoMom says
Yahoo! All the Magic Clams I can pre-order! Looking forward to next week 😀
PS: I have found my comfort cookies – they look and taste like watermelon slices and they are dainty and fun to eat. Sending a virtual plateful your way …
Breann says
😲 Can you please share a recipe for those (or a brand, if they are purchased)? They sound like so much fun for summer! Thanks! 🤗
Jen says
Second that cookie recipe request! They sound super fun! I used to make watermelon cupcakes when my kids were younger: vanilla cake, dyed pink, with mini chocolate chips baked in, and two shades of green vanilla icing swirled on top. Once I tried adding watermelon flavor from kool-aid to make it more authentic, and it turned out pretty well actually, but we all ended up preferring the vanilla version, alas. (I thought I was being so clever.) Cookies sound like a delicious and less fussy option!
Robyn A says
Signed up! First time the timing has worked for me! So excited! So excited I went to do my pre-order, only to discover I pre-ordered back in February! Thanks Mod-R!
Breann says
I wish Amazon would give a tally of how many times a pre-ordered book is checked on the website: “This book was pre-ordered on February 10, 2023 and this is the 27th time that you have checked it.” 😂
Tink says
What’s weird is that two or three times now, Amazon has said I didn’t own a book in a particular series. I’ve been back-filling some of my paperbacks with ebooks, so it’s suckered me in a couple of times. Then I go to my collections in Kindle and see two copies of the same book, so I refund the one I just purchased.
Don’t know why it’s suddenly doing that and not recognizing I already have the book, but thankfully they still seem to keep me from pre-ordering a book more than once. Otherwise, I WOULD end up owing 27x the cost of the book. 😉
Gaëlle from France says
So much wonderful news !!!!
Katherine says
Hi Mod R, I have a general Q for Ilona about the book publishing world. You know, for the next time she is answering questions like this.
Why do release dates always fall on Tuesdays?
Moderator R says
It used to be because NYT bestsellers sales were counted from midnight Monday to midnight Monday of the first week of a book’s release. A Tuesday release ensured the most favourable period.
Now it’s largely just publishing industry tradition 🙂
Matt R. says
Deals with Audible seem to get more draconian as time goes on. And it’s especially annoying for me because I made a promise to myself to exercise patience and keep my business with Audible for my purchases of the GA editions of Kate Daniels.
Anna L says
i buy my GA from GA website directly and they often run 50 percent off sales and give you reward points
Jean says
Hi Mod R
Has a release date been given for the audible book of the 2 Wilmington series books yet? As I’d read on the blog both were being released together but I haven’t been able to find on AUS Amazon yet. Thanks!
Moderator R says
Hi Jean,
The aim is for June 13th, at the same time as the Magic Claims general release. I don’t think there will be a preorder period for the audiobook 🙂
Brightfae says
Yea! I have told my bosses that I have a Very Important Commitment next Tuesday and will not be available to work. At all. Period.
There are clams to be eaten and claims to be made!
Martha L says
After listening to the Graphic Audio books, I think that House Andrews should not bother with Audible and just go directly to Graphic Audio. Amazon has gotten too big for their britches.
Moderator R says
Hi Martha,
There seems to be a bit of confusion 🙂
The traditional audiobok, with one narrator, which is produced by House Andrews or their publishers for each book release- goes out to hundreds of audiobook retailers, both in the US and internationally. Neither its creation, nor its retail is linked to Audible. The audiobook is absolutely neccessary for people with accessibility issues, people who prefer the audio etc and it will not stop being produced. Royalties from the traditional audiobook go to Ilona Andrews, as with the other formats of a book.
By contrast, Graphic Audio are an independent company. They buy adaptation rights for certain books by Ilona Andrews. They are not comissioned, not paid, not scheduled or cast by Ilona Andrews. Decision they take are independent of Ilona Andrews. Whether they adapt a book or not is entirely their remit and the profit from the sales is theirs too.
The Graphic Audio adaptations will never replace the traditional audiobooks 🙂
LynneW says
Dear Mod R,
Thank you for this very clear and useful differentiation between the two types as it relates to ownership and distribution!
Felicitie says
YAY, we are looking forward to Magic Claims release and Magic Burns on Graphic Audio. Any word on if and when Sweep of the Heart will be on Graphic Audio? Thank you.
Moderator R says
Not at the moment, I believe the agreements are still being drawn up :). Nora and the GA team are hard at work on Kate atm, recording for Magic Strikes starts this week 🙂
Kat in NJ says
Thanks Mod R, I can’t wait!
I announced to my family that we will be having a clambake dinner on release night in honor and they highly approve! Seafood is expensive these days -what isn’t- but we can get some really fresh, really yummy seafood in NJ. So totally worth it, especially in celebration of an IA release! 😁
Suzanne says
Please record the Sat event as this will be 1am on Sun morning in Australia. pretty please with cherries on top. btw, don’t think you need the time converter link, although thank you, as when you click to book it zoom tells you your local time.
Moderator R says
Yes, unfortunately not everyone knows that so it’s easier just to provide an alternative 🙂
Melissa says
Can hardly wait for Tuesday to get here! A question— what is the spoiler thread party?
Moderator R says
The blog post that goes up on release day also functions as a spoiler party in the comment section.
Readers come and write their reactions as they read, or when they finish and everyone gets together to talk about the book and ask questions 🤩
It’s one of my favourite things! Here is Magic Tides https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/happy-book-birthday-magic-tides-and-spoiler-thread/
Jen says
I’m so excited for the new book! I saw this today, and thought Ilona and Gordon might relate… because as thrilled as we are with the upcoming launch, you know it won’t be long ‘til we’re clamoring for more! (And extra points for the Princess Bride connection, obviously!) ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cr9h41xvl1X/?igshid=MmJiY2I4NDBkZg==
Melinda says
Hi Mod R, thanks for all the good news! Sorry if this has already been asked but is it possible to get just signed bookplates? Already have all the books 🙂
Thanks again!
Moderator R says
Not at the moment, purely for reasons of admin and available time. It may become an option with future releases 🙂
Sivi says
hey Mod R- I thought that magic burns is already out with graphic audio- as I’ve got it downloaded onto my phone in May I think…
Sivi says
unless it’s book three that they are going to release on the 13th for preordained??? (pretty please worth sugar in top)
Moderator R says
Out on the GA platform, not on Audible and 3rd party retailers.
Sakura says
Dear Mod R: (this may be a dumb question) What’s the difference between the Wednesday Zoom Event and the Saturday Zoom Event?
Moderator R says
One is on Wednesday and one on Saturday? 😅
Both have reader questions and answers (not the same, unless they are very big questions, since mostly we take from the live chat). I guess the Saturday one is usually more relaxed, because it’s the end of release week so everyone is a bit tired and we chill. Ofc that does sometimes mean more spoilers 😂
There are two sessions mostly as a chance for people to attend live if one time doesn’t suit them or the registration is full by the time they see the notice 🙂
