Graphic Audio updates first: I know a few of you who purchased the mp3 zip download version of the Magic Slays dramatized adaptation had problems with the file. The issues have been addressed, the file was updated with the correct format, you only need to redownload it. Here is the contact for the Graphic Audio Helpdesk if you need further assistance.
I’ve also passed on your feedback that you would really like to have an extended cast list and know the names of the actors who voice each character, and they very promptly updated that list on the Magic Slays page. I’ll try to be good and remind them for future releases!
I did some Maths today for the Sanctuary edits (Chernoboggian effort, Arabellian accuracy) so I’m a bit of a bear of little brains and managed to knock the Private button on Chapter 3 of Sanctuary early. You know that moment when you watch in horror as your body does or says something and you’re thinking “What am I even doing? I’m not the world’s biggest dummy, but I better hope he stays in good health!”.
Sorry to everyone who was mid-read and sent panicked help signals, it’s all public again, and will be until Friday morning. You may be getting Chapter 3 in your emails all over again, mea maxima culpa y’all. The edits will also be done (Pythagoras-willing!) and sent to House Andrews next week, and then we will see Roman again in summer. Northern-hemisphere summer, since you’ve asked.
I was trying to remember other admin I had to tell or fess up to you about, but I can’t think because I have this little red devil on my shoulder who keeps whispering “Tell them about Klaus! Tell them about Klaus!”. So I have to tell you about Klaus.
If you’re part of the Facebook official Ilona Andrews Group you might have seen it already, but we asked the question Innkeeper fans had for a long time, which was: “Why is Klaus called Charlie when he’s a little boy?” referring to the Gerard Demille and Helen Meet story snippet.
Ilona recently explained on Facebook:
“Gerard used to tell Charlie stories of a boy called Klaus who went out into the Great Beyond and had adventures. Therefore, Charlie decided that when he grew up, he would become Klaus. And he did.”
And now we all know! In Gerard Meets Helen, we find out that Charlie is named after his father, who has divorced and subsequently became estranged from the family, so we love a path of reinvention for the world’s most mysterious Arbitrator.
And just for good measure, in cased you missed the latest Klaus snippet that chips away at that mystery, allow him to Explain Everything.
Patricia Schlorke says
I laughed at the title of the post. 😂😂😂
Have fun with the edits!

Even an admin post makes me smile.

Thanks for the updates. We appreciate you!

Arabellian accuracy… hehehe

+100! 💖

Thanks Mod R! I’m part of the FB group but somehow missed the explanation.
Tempest says
Thanks for sharing the FB post for the rest of us. I love that explanation. Reminds me of C.S. Lewis, who announced as a small child that he would be known as “Jacksie” — after a pet that had died — and was know as Jack for the rest of his life. I’m sure there are other examples — well-known and otherwise. I love the whole “I will pick my adventurer name” energy — and that everyone just rolls with it.
Tink says
Reminds me of Indiana Jones who didn’t want to go by Henry Jones Jr. so he renamed himself. After the dog.
Alexandra says
Thank you mod R!
I had truly missed the Klaus snippet despite regularly checking the blog, so you made my night!
Good luck with the edits!

Yayyyyyyy for the full cast list! Thank you! <3
I hope someone brought you some tea and chocolate to reward your mathing efforts.

Had a long day, but you made it better. Firs I tried to read the chart, until my eyes felled upon the “fake chart, vary fancy”, so instant smile. Than all the Roman misadventures you had, well it is that kind of day, and you are beloved by … you know. Than I saw the Klaus snippet and got really excited, but it turns out I already read it ahaha. Of course I did, silly me, I check the blog every other day. And than I just found a way to solve all my barsa problems. Innkeeper reread! So vary calm and productive week to all (I hope)!

Innkeeper updates omg thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu. Lifesaving. I was having the absolute worst day (terrible horrible no good very bad had nothing on today’s chaos). Also we are all human thank you for your efforts on Sanctuary. Chernie is Life.
Judy Schultheis says
So that’s why Klaus has the name he does. I don’t follow on Facebook, so I hadn’t seen that before, but I’ve read how Helen and Gerard met many times and had wondered.

As a Facebook free zone I thank you 😊

thanks for the info on Klaus and all the maths you are doing for Roman!

I follow the facebook page but don’t get all the updates so when she answers these important (to us) questions can they be posted here too? Pretty please?

Just so you know: the kindle cover for Wildfire is the old flower cover that’s red, not the new brown one. Not sure if the publisher forgot to change it.
Moderator R says
Hi N, thank you for letting us know.
Will reach out to Avon, but the cover they chose is up to them. Please make sure also that you have the latest update available in your Kindle account. Some seem to be pushed automatically, others need to be manually sync’ed. I won’t pretend I understand what Amazon’s about.
N says
I can’t share a picture but it’s definitely the US Amazon, not my device. When you click Kindle, it’s the wrong cover (red with purple carnation). When you click paperback, it’s the correct cover (brown with blue carnation).

RE Charlie/Klaus In a mid-1800s genealogy search we were unutterably lucky that one ancestor grew up, lived, and died in the same small town, because when his mother died and his father remarried all three of the children suddenly started going by different first names on all records — for the rest of their lives, when you could still do that without official sanctions. (turns out to be their middle names.) No record of why but we could easily have lost them at that point.
Diane says
You actually can still do that, go by your middle name without sanction. I do!
Though I do occasionally have to pull out the official one for government purposes, in my daily life including my employment as a lawyer I use my middle name
Kate says
The problem was that names changed on all future birth, death and marriage records. If the father had not ben recognizably the same person at the same address with children the right ages in the census, our records would have ended with those children because their birth names were different. For instance, we had marriage and death records for “Allan” and were looking for his birth record, but he was born “Robert Allan” same for his siblings.
Vala says
thank you for the update and Klaus snippets, but it reminded me of a inaquestion.
Why didn’t Maud tell Dina that Klaus was alive? Dina doesn’t find out until a few months later when George accidentaly lets it slip. Just have always wondered about that.
Moderator R says
AHA! Why, indeed! We will find out in the next Innkeeper, which we’ve been updated on here https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/happy-monday-schedule-post/
Maria Austin says
I teach math. I feel your pain.
mz says
Thank you for all of us (the Few?) who do not and have never FaceBooked.
And poor Klaus must have been away too long to think that Arlan’s and Maud et al wouldn’t be salivating at a Mukuma Brawl.
Thank you also for continuing with the Roman work even through your recent health issues.
CourtneyMincy says
Thanks for the reminder of the Klaus snippet. I read it the first time but it was a needed laugh tonight since I’m having a kidney biopsy in the morning and can’t sleep. I’ll try and keep visions of vampire wedding festivities (aka an alien invasion) in mind when I get too nervous.
Bill G says
Ahh, statistics; where it’s shown how figures can lie, and liars can figure.
Patricia Schlorke says
Depends on two things: the data used and the person interpreting the data. 😉
(From someone who went through Nav to get the biostatistics degree.)

Can we also get a full cast list for the previous KD graphic audios and also to Innkeeper Chronicles? *prayer emoji*

I cannot confirm or deny anything in regard to Maggie. 🤐

I have added ‘We will have to postpone….we will invite everybody’ to my list of phrases that go on the Innkeeper sampler.(partner to the Kate universe sampler).

Thank you Mod R! I too am one who does not have Facebook, so I appreciate your sharing here.
Be brave and math on, the BDH appreciates your statistical efforts! 😁
Linda Moore says
I’m sorry, but Klaus does NOT explain everything. Especially not why he leaves Dina in the dark. I hope when his book comes up his love flits in and out of his life for awhile so he can experience how that feels. Love your books! Rereading Hidden Legacy for the 3rd time. Arabella and Leon please.
Cynthia says
Yay for Klaus…
Today is a good day.
I got to read about Klaus/innkeeper,
Even if it was a few sentences by Ilona on her blog.

After following the “estranged from the family” link, all I can say is, “If it’s from HA and available for either Halloween or Christmas, I’ll talk a friend into getting it/them for me for a present. (My birthday is two days before Halloween.)
I’ll have to check the available list to make selections from the last four (horrible) years. Understandable depression and the dreaded Hawaiian disease “lakamula” kept me from getting anything.
Catlover says
I must have missed the Klaus snippet originally. Happy to be caught up! I’m restraining myself from asking where on the future list this will slide in. The list of “when books” gets longer and longer.
SL says
981/8 = 124 🙂
Yay Math!

I laughed my way through most of this post. But I truly think that most statistic/graphs should be changed to: “Fake Statistics Chart. Very Fancy.” LOL.
Kimmelane says
Is there any chance, any chance at all, that House Andrews could go private with Sanctuary Friday afternoon rather than morning? I work 10 hrs a day Monday-Thurs and am hoping to spend a couple of hours reading of Friday morning. Pretty please, with one of Orro’s donuts on top?
Moderator R says
Which timeline are you in, Kimmelane? 🙂
Carol Duchesneau says
I always am a day late…anyway, was just reading some of the short stories when it occurred to me, if Dina and Sean had kids, would the Alpha Strain be dominant and pass on, is it 50/50, or would the human Innkeeper gene be more dominant?
It’s a weird out of the blue thought, but there you have it.
Moderator R says
There’s no such thing as genetic Innkeeper powers 🙂.
It’s just us humans, who all have magic, some of us are more aware of it than others and practice it more. And sometimes we connect with an inn or a seed, if we’re lucky.
Ish says
I had the biggest laugh at Chernoboggian effort, Arabellian accuracy. I really enjoy your efforts and humor Mod R. You are appreciated.💐
I wanna be as fun as you when I grow up🤣🤣🤣
S says
I like your Fake Statistics chart. It reminded me of a conversation I recently had with the instructor of a company that had sold a stats presentation package to where I work,
He was going on about all the graphics bells and whistles we could add, I tried to explain that simpler charts with out excessive graphics were easier to understand and was told that everyone wanted fancy stuff that looked impressive now to show off at management meetings and sales. Apparently clear accurate data that demonstrates trends and permits calculations is old hat in business it’s all now in the presentation.
We’re a lab. providing test results to engineers and scientists. I think I’ll stick to Excel.

If you bring the info here, great. I’m not that fond of Facebook for IA. Glad you are on top of it!!

I’ve just reread the Inn Keeper series. I love the story even more on a reread.
Still have to tell you that “Sweep of the Blade” is just a masterpiece!
Reading any/all of your books makes me incredibly happy!
