The BDH has been loud and clear in their need for merch to be available. We understand that Christmas is coming up, and we are very flattered that you want to have cool stuff related to our writing.

We are in talks with a small business who offered to print merch in-house, meaning they make it and send it. This would not be a POD. They would look at each item before it went out. They would combine orders so you can pay less for shipping. We will be taking a standard percentage off the top. You will get merch, and we will hopefully avoid the stress of retail.

We need some data to make sure that everyone understands your needs. Please answer honestly. More than one answer is permitted.

  6. if it was a hoodie with no zipper I would vote that dark but I can’t be sure with “sweatshirt”

        Can you say “hot flashes”? I didn’t understand why older women had zippers on everything until I was 50. Buttons take way too long in the moment, and pulling it over your head messes with your hair and glasses. Also if you’re working or exercising outside in the morning, you can start zipped and unzip as you warm up, without necessarily having to remove it completely as you would a pullover.

    • Yes! Zipped hoodies. I can’t deal with pullover ones. I always end up painfully dislodging my glasses and flashing someone my bra trying to take the pullover style off in public.

    • Agreed! I need some extra room for the girls 😹 And I love a zipfront. Sometimes the pullovers are very tight in the neck. I ended up cutting a notch in my Innkeeper neckline

      • I did that with the tshirts, I dont want it so high in the neck so now they are boat necked and sort of 80’s slouchy

        • Every crewneck T-shirt in my drawer has had the neckline modified. The only crewneck sweatshirt still there is the BARN GODDESS one my kids gave me probably twenty years ago, for the sentimental value. I keep hoping the hot flashes go away so I’ll be able to wear it again someday.

            I hear you and empathize. My OB/GYN wants to taper me off hormone replacement therapy which I have been on since 2019 (menopause hit in all its horror in 2016 but it took me 3 yrs to convince my GP to refer me so I could get HRT). I just started the taper and my elbows are killing me with the joint pain.

            To the general BDH: hoodies with zippers, please, for all the reasons previously cited.

  24. I still treasure my “Ripper Cushions” mug. When I upgraded my iPhone, my Kate Daniels phone case didn’t fit my new phone. I still have the case (not getting rid of it), just not on my phone.

    • This is why I love stickers – they can turn plain phone cases into custom cases. Also notebooks, laptops … but I hear you – I wish the phone designers took the case upgrades into consideration.

      I have this scene in my head: Sandra Bulluck, in”Miss Congeniality”, at the beginning when Michael
      Caine is teaching her to walk, and she almost gets hit by the car, so she turns toward it, slams her hands on the hood, and yells “I’m walking over here!”, but instead it’s the BDH, yelling at publishers that “We’re being CHALANT over here!”. It makes me giggle.

  35. I just want to give a nod to the Sanctuary merch. I adore my nechist t-shirt and get many (often confused) compliments on it. People sometimes think they’re owls. I could visualize something similar from Inheritance…Jovo, Bear and Ada…or Bear and Elias’s new kitty.

  41. would this store be open all year? I feel if we had “unlimited” access instead of a few weeks like in the past there wouldn’t be as big of an overwhelming influx of orders.

    Also, is the sweatshirts the same as a hoodie? Because I prefer hoodies, but would order a sweatshirt if that was the only choice.

    • Sales. Hoodies are definitely my preference-I bought a here kitty kitty that I enjoy wearing, but I’ll make do with non-hooded if it is what is available.

  45. Coming on to add that I would love magnets as well. One of my most cherished magnets is the ferret heist one. And kid sizes pretty please. Christmas was fun this past year from my purchase of Roman apparel and I would love more fandoms to buy from for him. Second or third or whatever number the plus size options.

  54. 😀 Just to make trouble and add to the chaos: I second enamel pins. I can only realistically own so many mugs and hoodies, but I can justify near infinite enamel pins! Mwa ha ha. (And yes, I know that is also true of stickers. I will buy stickers if no enamel pins exist). I would also like to throw out the idea of stemless wine tumblers. I also feel I can justify more of those.

    • This is the question I was looking for. I voted with optimism that the UK will be getting a storefront but with worry that it won’t.

  57. Can I add that I would love V neck tshirts in larger sizes! Often regular tshirts go up quit a bit, but the v necks dont.

  59. my only real question is the country of production, and if you’ve managed to find a few in different regions, or if it’s us only, what the postage might end up being because of all of the tariff stuff between countries pushing some costs up a fair bit.
    might there still be any option for licensed art for the bed to use to make stuff like the above in their country of choice if some of the possible issues might mean that some countries can’t purchase any merch?

  63. Sadly crew necks don’t work for me so dark v neck tshirts are my go to. Sweatshirts are also acceptable with hoods and with or without zippers. I’m pretty excited about this as I got two mugs last time which I adore!

  67. Question, if the merch is produced in-house, would that mean it would need to be shipped and imported from the USA to for example Europe? Because in that case I would probably be unable to afford it (which is fine, you can’t supply everyone everywhere as a small business. Asking because then it would be more fair to not fill in the poll in that case from my side. My experience with small company shipping from USA is that it doubles the price of the items.

    • Shipping internationally is not an option atm, but if there are any local vendors willing to licence the merchandise, House Andrews would be very open to it 🙂

  68. Hey House Andrews – y’all might want to consider Bunker Branding. They’re a U.S. merch manufacturer and they’re right there in Texas with you guys. They craft all the merch for a bunch of BIG YouTubers, so they’d be able to handle the Horde no problem.

  71. For next time, because I’m sure you need a lot of advance warning, could you consider long-sleeve tees? V-neck, scoop or baseball? And thank you for thinking of BDH wants!

  72. Please offer super large sizes if you do this. Like 5X and larger. In V neck. Also, how about zip hoodies? I live in those things! I don’t mind paying more for these sizes, I’m used to it. Again, 5X and larger (and I mean, US sizes, not the “China” size 5X that is really a US small if you know what I mean). I can’t tell you how many times I go to buy a shirt or hoodie from something like a charity drive or a fandom and the largest size is a 3X, plus when you look at the size guide it isn’t even a true 3X. Disheartening. Thank you!!

    • you should check if your local library offers audio books to borrow. Mine does through libby and hoopla, which are apps you can put on a device, or stream through an internet browser.

      You provided a fake email so I cannot reply directly to you.

      Firstly, the poll is open and people are voting 🙂 I can see the numbers go up after your comment and I checked independently. I’m sorry you’re encountering an user error, it could be that someone in your household sharing your IP has already voted.

      Secondly, when you receive a blog post through the newsletter, it’s not a private email written just for you. The newsletter is simply a way of delivering something that’s already been published on the website and has been public for people for up to 24 hours 🙂

      Think of it like a newspaper: the article goes live online first, and then the next morning the paper format gets delivered to your doorstep. The newsletter works the same way, it packages up the post and sends it out to subscribers. It’s just two different ways of accessing the same content.

      That means people who visit the blog directly may have already read, opined, or commented on the post before it shows up in your inbox for an entire day; and sometimes the poll or comments will be closed if House Andrews judge the sample sufficient or the issue either settled or too inflammatory.

      Again, not the case with this poll, which is wide open for voting 🙂

  85. You should look at threadless.com to provide your merchandise. I belong to a group that uses them. They can put a design on about anything (T-shirts, mugs, etc) so you wouldn’t need to limit the item choices. The quality of the T-shirts I’ve gotten is great. I had an issue with one printed too light and they redid it without complaint. And their prices are amazing.

  86. My current keychain (a girl painting her nails) has split in half and I was going to start looking for something else, so this would be very timely. Not a lot of fandoms make keychains for some reason.

  87. Now that I’ve read comments and looked carefully at the options and I would vote also for hoodies with zippers and fitted shirts.

  90. My dream mug holds 24oz, has a base diameter of 3.25 inches or less (so it will fit on Mr Coffee warmer) and a comfortable handle.

    And magnets, as I do not put stickers on my car.

  91. When I learned that the merch store would be no more, I put my BDH mug into the china cabinet to be another beloved object that wasn’t used because I couldn’t bear for the artwork to be worn away and not be able to replace it. Learning we might get another chance is super exciting!

    Also, like several other folks in the comments here, I’d prefer a zip hoodie to a pull-over sweatshirt.

    Even someday in a future merch update, my interest isn’t going anywhere. I’m guessing if it was in your supplier’s current options you would have listed it in the poll.
    Zip hoodies are my go-to indoor autumn and winter cozy thing, and I love wearing cool merch ones when I can. Preferably in dark colors so the sleeves don’t get stained as easily.

    I have been wanting tea quotes on mugs for some time!!! I even collected the quotes from the Innkeeper Sweep in Peace book!

    (1) There were few universal principals in this world. That most water-based lifeforms Drank tea, was one of them.

    (2) Some things were constant in the Universe. Two and two didn’t always equal four, but every water-based species at some point had heated water and thrown some plants into it.

  106. I have the ripper cushion pillow. I had to temporarily retire it to safety because we have a Doberman puppy (now ten months) who will destroy anything. She got two of my bed pillows, four dog beds and all of our throw rugs went to the trash. Not counting everything else.

  107. I love my Innkeeper stuff from your last sale. Two things about the clothing especially: The fabric is high quality with the designs standing up to frequent washes, and the availability of extra large sizes, 4X and 5X. They were an exceptional value. I also love my Rippercushion.

    zip hoodie (If I were a better seamstress I would convert the wonderful raspberry hooded sweatshirt I got from you last year to a zip up.)

    I would love color choices that aren’t black, white or gray! Colors like:
    raspberry, fuchsia
    teal, aqua
    amethyst, royal purple
    cobalt, royal blue
    emerald green, sage green

    Would it be possible to make stickers that could be put on your car windows i.e. white lettering of the quotes from the books? Or any color really.

    40oz drink cups similar to a Yeti or Stanley?

    Any consideration of having things from The Edge Series? Those were my gateway books to the whole HA universe!

  109. Woo Hoo! Hopefully this will be a solution that works well for all. I tried to make sure I got ALLLLLLL THE THINGS last time when it looked like there might not be another store — and then immediately wished I had gotten more “my ability to even has been severely compromised” things. (I think I got “I like home” in every possible variation. I also adore my Ripper cushions mugs. I have a back up one, too.)

  111. I am just laughing at all this: HA swears never to do merch again after last debacle. Suddenly there is an opportunity for a small focused store of BDH voted on items. (Great idea to have a vendor take care of all the legwork btw). BDH roars in excitement and demands Walmart size store of merch. Available globally. And in their favorite form, format and color. LOL LOL.

    You guys deserve your percentage and more! Thank you for braving your BDH monster to give us this gift.

  112. After speaking to my sister, I had posted prev. she noted she also needed a Roman sweatshirt and her UPS man wanted a Roman doormat that I had gifted her last yr. If it were at all possible to add these to the list, it would be appreciated.
    For info I rec’d multiple compliments on the sweatshirt with the tree as I wore it all the time in dk green. I have gained weight, it is tight so I need a bigger size. I fell and broke a bunch of bones and was a potato for a while. It is hard to lose weight.

  115. I would like more “Barsa, Barsa, Barsa” silliness. Also something that said “Team Facts Be Damned” (not sure I’m getting that quote exactly right but it’s from the beginning of Ruby Fever) would make me giggle. Just a little something to make me smile between books.

    A hat is a good idea, if sweatshirt- zip front hoodie is preferred for sure, lots of stickers to customize phones, water bottles and computers and such. I feel like there could be a glasses case…. I don’t know I just think lots of us must be wearing glasses and I like clever everyday things.

    A Cookbook (or better named a food compilation). I think my abidingly favorite thing about House Andrews’ work is the recurring theme of good food. I can always identify with characters who seek out good food.

    I now go to chalantly make a cup of lovely tea and perhaps some toast.

  130. I would also like a shirt that says “You touch me I’ll break it off.” And “ No! Bad hobo” on the back. My oldest read the Edge Series last year. Every time one of her siblings Annoyed her she’d say one of these. I found it pretty funny.

  131. Thank you so much for looking for a merch solution that won’t stress you out, but will let the BDH get much treasured items!

    I would love anything (shirt, mug, mouse pad, etc.) that has the “Gertrude Hunt/Red Deer, TX) design, but without the big “Humans must never know” tagline, which kind of gives away that it’s from a fictional universe. I just get a kick out of having something that looks like it’s from this earth, but is really from a alternate universe, until you look closely, and maybe notice that there are two moons in the sky, or there’s a little House Andrews logo, or something like that.

    And people sometimes ask about things like that, which can prompt a conversation about the wonderfulness of HA books :-).

    In a similar vein, a long time ago, I had a Tatooine poster from the Star Tours ride at Disney that looked exactly like a normal travel poster until you saw the small Star Tours logo at the bottom. I had that on my wall at work until it had faded almost to invisibility, and people would ask me where it was, usually guessing Africa, and then be amused when they realized what it really was.

    And of course, any BDH member doesn’t need any hints anyway…
