Yesterday we finalized our choices of models for Blood and Magic.
Today we are editing.
Nothing is happening. We are just editing. And editing. And editing.
Been playing Subnautica, but I have already put so much into it, it’s a bit of a slog. It’s mighty pretty though.
Also I build a huge base and now I deeply regret it. It’s too big and all I’m doing is running back and forth inside it. I’m tempted to either take the base apart and start over or start a new game.
We are watching The Orville and it is awesome.
That’s it. Not a super eventful few days. 🙂
Andri/Kaylenn says
I envy you, being mid-kitchen renovation! =) The countertops guy came out yesterday, so those are ordered and will be installed in 2 weeks. In the meantime, my normal 3 contractors took about half their stuff and headed off to another job. Don’t know when/if I’ll see them again before countertops day! I hope so since there are little things that still need doing. I miss my kitchen… =)

Uneventful is nice, isn’t it? Enjoy it while it lasts!

My nephew’s been trying to get me to watch The Orville. I recently binged both seasons of Stranger Things, so maybe I’ll do the same with The Orville. I didn’t watch it initially because the early promos made it look a dumb parody, but apparently it’s not like that. Or started out that way but changed. So maybe I’ll watch a few episodes.
Did you ever finish Buffy? You mentioned binge-watching it last year, I think.
The same nephew got me hooked on a game called Monkey City that I play on my tablet. Good game to play while you’re watching TV. 😉
Charley says
We’re having snow here, it’s the first real winter in a long time, but shoveling is better than editing in my opinion. fortunately, not too much snow at any one time, hope your editing is the same.
Cheryl Anne farley says
Feeling little less crazed and emo. Dealing with estate issues is all about paperwork. Everyday it’s plan the work work the plan. And it’s sunny and 72 degrees. Hooray!
vinity says
I loved the Hugh model. Also, you got me watching Orville. It’s fun.
Daniel B says
You folks liked The Orville? Fiancee and I watched the pilot and were really unimpressed. It seemed like it couldn’t figure out if it wanted to be Seth McFarlane’s Penis Jokes in Space or an earnest Star Trek style homage and felt like it was the bad parts of both. We looked at some of the trailers for the episodes thereafter and felt similarly un-enthused. I guess either the later episodes got better or YMMV.
Jenn says
Watched the first episode bc of the positive comments here… Wow, thought it was so bad we shut it off.
Patricia Schlorke says
Glad to hear that your last few days have been uneventful with the exception of editing. Work and keeping myself as healthy as possible is what is going on with me. Eventually planning a move to another place on the same property (like the property; not so liking being close to the pool area—2 summers of hearing everything going on in the pool area is quite enough).
Started re-reading Burn for Me. 🙂 I had this thought when starting to read the book. Nevada should thank Augustine for having her take the Adam Pierce job. If not for the job, there is a very good possibility she wouldn’t have met Rogan. 😀
Joyce Hunt says
She did thank him, sorta. She stopped her Mom and Mad Rogan from killing him. Counts as a TU in my book. 🙂
Patricia Schlorke says
Very true. 😀
Taylor says
Is Blood and Magic the Hugh book?
Ami says
That’s what I was trying to figure out!
lost in a book says
I’m confused because I thought Hugh’s book was Blood & Iron.
Rita says
Maybe a mistake? Or was it renamed? Or is it the Kate book?
Aneira says
Not a mistake, it’s the Hugh book, it was probably renamed a while ago. I think the first time I heard it was in a live AMA or video interview, I’m not sure. I think I saw it on youtube a couple of months ago.
Someone needs to change it on Goodreads though.
Ariana says
I love the Orville. It’s corny and hokey but if you can get past that the underlying storyline is very thought provoking. It reminds me of the original Star Trek series but with way better special effects.
Fan in California says
Agreed!! We’ve been watching since the beginning and really enjoy it!!
Sarah says
That’s exactly what I love about it! It’s such a fun show to watch 🙂
Alexandra says
I have also been playing subnautica! I think the key is 3 smaller bases. One near sea level, then one about 900 m down, then a third around 1200 m. This way you can mine the resources and use your sensor room effectively at the different stages.
kommiesmom says
Okay, I will admit that I am nosy but clueless. “vinity” compliments the Hugh model (reply #6 above). Where did she see the photo(s)? If the answer is “on FaceBook”, I won’t worry about it, but if it’s accessible, I’d love to see who you chose.
Anyone else interested?
Keera says
Yeah I thought I missed something
Richard says
Same here. What model? Are we talking about Hugh’s book?
Sarah says
I had the same question lol
Tara says
I’m going to guess that vinity means the model Ilona originally used for the April fools joke. https://ilona-andrews.com/warlords-price/
Kamrin says
We watched The Orville, not sure if it was only going to be a parody and was happily surprised. It was better than we expected
seantheaussie says
Orville varies in quality for me. Episodes 1, 2, 5, and 9 made it on to my, “to be rewatched list”, episode 12 was good, and all the others were between OK and DNF.
I am NOT a fan of the preachy episodes.
Otter says
I love The Orville. It’s a great homage to sci-fi classics while infusing Seth MacFarlane’s brand of comedy at unexpected times.
As someone said earlier, a few of the episodes are a bit preachy but then Star Trek used to get preachy so maybe that’s an appropriate part of the tribute.
DianainCa says
Sometimes slow days are really nice. We are having a beautiful day here it is supposed to push into the upper 70’s. Unfortunately there is no rain in sight so drought worries are coming back to the forefront.
Karen says
I have never played a video game since Spyro and that made me dizzy. Any suggestions of what to start with ..?
Amanda says
I would highly recommend Stardew Valley. It’s one of the best games released in the last few years. Witcher 3 and Skyrim would also get my vote. It depends on what kind of thing would interest you though really.

Witcher 3: http://store.steampowered.com/app/292030/
Skyrim: http://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/
Brooke Travis says
I have problems with motion sickness with video games, especially if someone else has the controller. I’ve taken Dramamine for it, and it helps even if it makes me sleepy after a bit. Games where you’re building things, like The Sims or Minecraft (I don’t know of any others but I’m sure there are more) might be easier on the eyes.
I wish I had better advice though. I wish you well in your quest.
Amanda says
Loved the Orville – more so than the new Star Trek if I’m completely honest. I havn’t tried Subnautica yet, I bought My Time at Portia a few weeks ago and am loving that. One of the best early access titles I’ve played – a fun unfinished little masterpiece.
Good luck with all your edits.
Jackie says
Been rereading Sweep in Peace, and random thought popped into my head: What pick up line would work best on Jack?
“Are you a Rum-Tum-tigger or a Rumpleteaser?”
“Is that cat-nip in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
Just random thought people. I’m snowed in and trying to amuse myself.
Tink says
“Here kitty kitty” worked on Curran. Could work on Jack, too.
Alex R. says
Hey look! A squirrel!!!
Although, “hey look! A kitty!” may be more adult. But I’m easily amused by squirrels.
Judy says
?????
I feel like Rip Van Winkle

sarafina says
So are the edits extensive or about what you thought they would be? Any surprises you need to accept/reject?
Ron J says
I was playing the pre-release of subnautica for months, the plot is pretty good, and the scenery is lovely, especially as you get to the deeper and more dangerous biomes. But it does slog at times while you gather resources to get the key item you need to advance, like build a repair tool, or a radiation suit. Although, the sequence with the sunbeam ranks up there in my top gaming moments.
Margaret says
Is “Blood and Magic” the new title for “Iron and Magic”?
Shnelle Hope says
I love that you’re playing Subnautica. Been playing it for years now as it went through early access. The devs are some of the good eggs who stuck with their dream and created a beautiful world with a touching story to boot. Let us know how it goes.

When is the next Kate Shugak coming out????

Maud! Maud! Maud!
Just as a break from editing, of course.
