In the end, it’s paint. Yes, it sucks, but it’s only paint. It can be fixed with money and inconvenience. The house is clean and feels a bit more like home. We will get it fixed.
Let’s talk about something else.
I have watched this. It was amazing
He dies and pops back into his body a decade before his own death. This is called a portal fantasy. Political intrigue, found family, competence porn. Happy ending. Lee Joon-gi is a real martial artist. The fight scenes were great. Everything was great. I liked it so much, I have this on my playlist now.
I am watching this. It is amazing.
The magic! The fighting! The angst! The funnies!
I will watch this. It will be amazing.
Now you do your three.
PS. Mod R will be gone for a few days, so it will be me moderating. ::rolls up sleeves:: I think I still remember how.

Ah man. I thought this post was about the Sweep story and meant the fishes were winning on the date.
Theresa says
Have you seen The Nevers? Here’s the trailer: https://youtu.be/gs-ODufnJ8Y
There’s only season one so far though, so the story isn’t yet finished.
Becky says
Ooohh, it was so good!
Theresa says
Also WandaVision, although it’s not a happy ending.
Sabrina says
Woohoo, so many recommendations to check out! ???? I’ve only just got into KDrama and so far what I’ve seen seems to be the popular stuff that people know already and seems to work well enough as an introduction to the genre (Healer, Move to Heaven, Business Proposal) but here’s a couple I liked that I haven’t seen named yet:
– Taxi Driver, which to me was like “oooo, what if they did The A-Team with a 90s vibe but filmed today”, but unlike in the A-team people do actually die so the violence is more graphic
– The Sound of Magic, which is 6 episodes so very binge-able, and a bit quirky but fun and not too high impact
– And, not KDrama but a movie I’m looking forward to later this year because the trailer looks totally bonkers but in a good way: Three Thousand Years of Longing. With Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton
Gracefulegg says
If you are looking for more Lee Joon-gi dramas…. Lawless Lawyer (Political and Corruption)is great and so is Flower of Evil (Pyschopath & Relationships)but my all time favorite with him in it is Aarang and the Magistrate (Ghost & Historical).
Morgane says
If you haven’t seen it I would also recommend Two weeks. He was the lead actor and it was a great drama!
Sivi says
Thank you for the recommendations, will have to check those out.
On netflix one I’d recommend is silent sea- not really a happy ending, but definitely good for thought.
Given that the Coffee Prince was also on netflix, I ended up watching it again properly as I watched it before on viki, but for any episodes that didn’t work, had to find sites for streaming which didn’t have the best quality videos.
Soo good and so many really late nights as I binged it again 🙂
Anastasia says
It was great.. I enjoyed it..
Lee Joon-gi was great and the fight scenes always add a little something extra!!
He was great in Lawless Lawyer as well!!
If you haven’t seen My Mister go for it…
It blew me away..
Mother as well
Two of the best Kdaramas I have seen ..
And I am a Kdrama addict..

I still need to watch 17 episodes of Westworld before I even start looking for something else.
Westworld is the only reason I subscribed to HBO Max.
Well, that plus a 50% discount for as long as I keep my subscription.

“Tell me you’re Dutch, without telling me you’re Dutch”

Patricia Schlorke says
I have HBO through my cable subscription so I have HBO Max as part of that. Season 4 of Westworld started Sunday, and oh boy is it going to get good. To me seasons 1 and 2 just explain everything about the park and all the different characters. Season 3, however, was interesting in a “what happens if…” situations. I really do not know how I got hooked into watching Westworld. I think it was boredom that got me to watch. 🙂
I am also looking forward to House of the Dragon in August on HBO. I saw the trailer over the weekend, and it looks good. Now, the real test will be how the episodes are when it starts in August.
Patricia Schlorke says
Also, something I found out by watching the credits of Westworld, if you are a Michael Crichton fan, he is the person who wrote the original book/movie called Westworld. I think it starred Yul Brenner. Never watched it. So, the TV series is based off of his original story.

I have no proper recommendations right now, I have brain fog from the dreaded COVID. It finally got me, three vaccinations, still masking in public spaces but it’s got me at last, nearly three years in. I don’t like it.
So brain off, rewatching Stranger Things and cursing the world.
(Ok, starting to feel a tad better today but still hate it)
Donna A says
Though actually Dark is good it’s not a kdrama it’s German. Time travel paradox twisty stuff. Pretty damn good.
Marianne H says
Donna, so sorry you got Covid and are feeling rotten! I hope that you feel much, much better soon! Sending positive thoughts and energy your way.

Thank you ????????

::side-eyes the other KD fans:: guys, curse first, brag later. Ahem, on a lighter note, I am on Paw patrol, rusty rivets an puffin rock… because, kids. Lolz
Sabrina says
Hey, don’t knock Puffin Rock, what’s not to love about that 😉
(Yes, also kid – but it was one I was fine watching along because there was no saccharine overload)
Abha Dhupkar says
I have alchemy of souls on my to watch list as well!! Along with Shooting Stars and rewatching Vincenzo…
Sabrina says
So Vincenzo totally threw me – it starts as a pretty slick action flick, and suddenly there’s goofball comedy happening, and that switch kinda gave me whiplash so I quit before even finishing the first episode. What does it end up as? More action flick or more goofiness? Just considering if I should try again 🙂
stegersaurus says
Vincenzo is a (very) dark comedy. I say that you should try to watch through the end of episode 4 before judging it. There’s a great twist at that point that sets up the rest of the drama. Also, the final 12min of episode 16 has one of the greatest action sequences of a kdrama ever (imo).
But yes, there are screwball moments, but the ensemble cast gets really into it, and it helps break up the intensity of the drama. Vincenzo is my #1 all-time kdrama and I’ve watched hundreds lol
Sabrina says
Thanks, I might give it another go then 🙂
Bill G says
Eh, I learned years back that my E-Voodoo skills were not what I wished them to be. Non-existent, in fact, so I stopped trying. (The clean-up was always a bummer, anyways.) And my list of hit-men turned out to be all cops/feds, so no joy there, either.
So, best of luck with getting everything corrected.
Susan J says
I would like to get into K dramas, but I hate having to read subtitles. Are there any great K dramas that are dubbed? I know, I know, it’s not the same, but it’s the format I like.
Am says
Some of the Netflix stuff is available with English dubbing
Craig says
If anyone has Hulu I recommend going a little old school and streaming the LXD (The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers). It was created by Jon M Chu (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). It was the first ever made for streaming TV series. The vision was what if dancers had super powers. Season 1 was the introduction to the good guy dancers. Season 2 is the introduction to the the bad guys dancers and Season 3 is when they go to War!
I do have to shout out to my older brother who produced the show. Scott Ehrlich.
Enjoy it. The dancing is spectacular, the storyline and plot intriguing and fun. It received a number of awards.

I recently watched, and loved, Top Gun for the first time! Don’t hate, it came out 2 years before I was born and I just never got to it….but I wanted to see Maverick so I finally made the effort ???? both films very well worth it!!!
Currently catching up on season 5 of 911, which I adore. Though I will go to my death believing Buck and Eddie belong together.
Next on the watch list is season 3 of 911 Lone Star when it hits the UK in the next couple weeks!
(Apologies for the first not being a TV show, but most of my watching is rewatching of old faves ???? so I went with the most recent new to me watch!)
R Coots says
For some reason I wonder if that Princess would be named Fiona in some animated universe ????
Am says
Again my life is in my watchlist, but I haven’t started it yet- I really liked that actor after I watched Lawless Lawyer.
Have you watched Vincenzo on Netflix? That was really good (totally did not expect the pigeons!) also, Taxi Driver was awesome, it reminded me of stuff like the A-team and Leverage, just be warned it’s not for the faint of heart, since the main characters has been brought together by personal violent tragedies and nothing does sociopathic bad guys like Kdramas.
Sabrina says
Taxi Driver has been renewed for a second season, so now I’m waiting for that 2023 release date 😀
Nancy says
I’m glad the house is at least livable. Still sorry you had to deal with this.
Monica says
Nobody talks about “The Imposters” . I really liked it. Serial marriage/identity fraud with victims fighting back, some really funny bits.
Gwen says
I really liked I Am Dragon on Amazon. It’s a Russian fantasy film from 2015. Definitely watch it with subtitles (not that you’d need them), the dubbed version is awful. The happy ending had to be duct taped on. But I adore a happy ending!
EmmaC says
I have started watching a really cool polish drama on Netflix (UK) called Crakow Monsters. It’s a group of young people with various powers trying to deal with an influx of mythological monsters in Krakow.
I’m on episode 2 & it’s good so far.
DianaInCa says
Thanks for recommendations.
Sorry about your house. We went on vacation that turned into a super spreader event. 9 out of 12 people ended up with COVID. I was super excited to spend some extra time with my Sister doing some fun things. I ended up doing so much laundry, dishes and cooking. The good part is that no one got it too bad. I also ordered groceries online for the first time. I am so glad to be home ????

I’m into C-dramas right now. But one memorable Kdrama I have watched is While You Were Sleeping. Watched it two years ago. Still love it til now.
I got hooked on Cdramas because of videoclips of You Are My Glory and Eternal Love of Dream.

I agree the large and small screw-ups in paint and drywall are fixable, though the additional mess and inconvenience are…inconvenient, I guess. (Good thing MY job is not writing) But I’m impressed you-all got the powder from the drywall mud cleaned up. That stuff is pernicious.
Anyway, shows:
As a huge fan of War for the Oaks, I have to recommend Carnival Row. Yes, I know it’s old and everyone who wants to see it probably already has. But it has fairies. So here we are.

I am watching Alchemy of Souls too. I have Again My Life on my watchlist to watch when I have time to binge watch. I want to watch The Legendary Life of Queen Lau but not sure if Vicki or Netflix will pick it up. The snip-it I’ve seen on YouTube looks funny.
Have you watch Mr. Queen or Business Proposal?

+1 for Mr. Queen, laughed my tushy off

So glad to get a chance to tell you I recognized the Arbiter’s little anonymous cameo appearance in book 1 … way before he was formally introduced to the series in book 2 …. that was SUCH an amazing ah-ha moment …. I’ve easily listened to the entire Innkeeper series a dozen times (and the same with the Hidden Legacy series … my two top all time favs) … but I keep recognizing the hidden gems of your weaving in tiny tidbits between the books … little bitty hints here and there that make no sense at the time, and then half a dozen listenings later to an entirely different book in the series, it clicks and connects … yesterday’s recognition of the Arbiter in book 1 led to a full morning’s musing on how incredible the two of you are in your mad writing skills… I would never play cards or chess with either of you, you are able to think so complexly and so many steps ahead! Way to go, you two, you forever have my gratitude and respect!

omg, the bdh does have a good sense of humor (we hope it was humor, hehe). The intro had me laughing anyway. I watch about zero, but I’m going to write down all the offerings, just like I did with the books.

I’m currently watching a pirate anime with my husband on netflix, rewatching the show The Librarians on Hulu and starting the new season of Orville on Hulu also. I don’t typically watch a lot of TV. I mainly end up watching garden youtubers in hopes of fixing my sad sad one.

“Competence porn”! My favorite new term!
I know just what that is. If you want more of it, check out Free Range Sailing on YouTube. A couple circumnavigating Australia in their 30’ sailboat – which is not large for such an undertaking. Pascale appears to be the prime mover on the videos, and she has her own impressive skill set. Troy is something else again. Dude knows how to do *so much stuff*. Both uber competent, the vibe is mellow, the sailing fab, and the scenery spectacular.
Also, super bummer about the painting job fails. Seriously, epic fail. Who *does* that and just calls it a day as though it’s good to go? BUT, you’re sounding pretty balanced about it. You shall yet prevail.
Beautiful cross stitch. I love people doing their fiber things.

I did an HAED Santa in his sleigh. I stitched 3-4 hours after work and the. 10-13 hours a day on my off days. It took me a year to stitch. It’s 4 foot wide and 3 foot high. I love it, it was a Christmas gift to my parents.

I love love love Netflix‘ „The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina“ – they did so good with the relaunch. The horror elements, the characters, the over the top story…. Love it.
Then the „classics“: „Stranger Things“ and „The Witcher“. Both fabulous.

My current favorite Asian Drama is a C-drama called “You are my Glory”. I’ve rewatched it a couple of times already. After that, I really really like the K-Drama “Descendants of the Sun” just because it’s got some comedy, a lighter plot, and a bit of action thrown in, and for political shenanigans in cool costumes with various characters with at least some complexity I like the C-drama “Story of Yanxi Palace” although I’m sure you’ve seen some of these already.
katieM says
Not a Kdrama fan. Right now I’m loving The Orville on Hulu, Dark Winds on HBO, and repeats of Any Day Now.

I like fluffies! 🙂 The world stresses me out enough so I need media that does not add tension or anxiety.
I’ll split my 3 into Asian and Western shows
3 Western Shows (shorter descriptions since they’re pretty well-known):
– Taskmaster (full eps on YouTube!) – closest thing I’ve found to an English language variety show; UK comedy panel game show
– Brooklyn 99 (Hulu) – workplace sitcom
– New Girl (Netflix) – found family sitcom
3 Asian Shows:
– Running Man (esp early/middle years) got me through high school – Korean variety show where a regular panel of celebrities and rotating guests play action-based games at different landmark areas around South Korea (and the world)
(think reality tv in that people play “characters” of themselves but the goal is to be funny and make the audience laugh rather than get sucked into drama)
– Sound of Your Heart (Netflix) – sitcom, two 15-min stories per episode, based on a webtoon and incorporates some of the aesthetic into the show,
– A Business Proposal (Netflix) – romcom, entertaining meta-PPL and plot references, love the lead (triple threat) actress, cute secondary couple; I rarely make it through K-dramas, but I think binging the webtoon beforehand helped
Bonus mentions (not as accessible but worth mentioning):
– Hyori’s Homestay is a super wholesome, calming show where one of the most iconic Korean female celebrities and her also-talented husband open up their home on Jeju Island (think beaches and seafood) as a B&B normal people from the city – lots of conversations, food, views, and pets!
– Shooting Stars – teams of women generally grouped by occupation learn futsal from scratch and compete in an entertaining and uplifting tournament
– Sh**ting Stars – romcom about a PR manager and the top actor from her agency, I’m still working through it, but vibes are similar to A Business Proposal
Dawn says
forgot to mention, for people who like watching Asian shows – Kocowa. Viki, and Viu are great platforms for licensed streaming w/ subs
– Kocowa – think Korean Hulu, the biggest 3 channels co-founded a streaming platform together and updates within a day of local airing time; episodes are free to watch within 24 hours w/ ads, then they lock unless you are a subscriber. I think this platform is great if you follow anything that regularly airs (ex. variety shows that air weekly for years) and got a annual plan for 25 dollars during the Lunar New Year promotion
– Viki – licenses some shows from Kocowa, fan-subbed so generally updates a little more slowly, huge inventory of dramas if you’re a drama lover and has shows from multiple countries
– Viu – mostly available in SE Asian countries but tons of content in a variety of languages that updates quickly
*a lot of the captions are less in-depth than fan subs though, so there will be some jokes that get missed – especially ones that have to do with puns or idioms
Brent says
Not Kdramas, but
1) The Umbrella Academy (Netflix; nothing like to comic, but awesome)
2) Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount; feels like TOS, if TOS was made today)
3) Love Death & Robots (Netflix; some episodes are a little spotty, but most are fun and/or thought provoking)
Nanette says
