Hi everyone, Mod R here.
The blog has been a bit quiet this week, and that’s because a lot of surprises are brewing backstage. You will hopefully see all of them soon (like next month soon).
But surprises take a lot of backstage admin tasks, and admin takes a lot of time out of writing, and I’ve been sworn to secrecy, but maybe some of the surprises require writing, who knows, not I, don’t even try to get it out of me! ::shifty side eye::
In the meantime, we have heard how much you miss FrInnDays and checking the blog for something to kickstart the weekend and have Horde funnies about. So do we!
The blog will feature a new beloved Ilona Andrews character every Friday, including backstory goodies we haven’t heard before, discussion on fan favourite scenes, questions, character development, tropes, ships and everything in between! And the best part is, the Horde gets to vote on which character they want to see take the stage. I know how much you like polls hehe.
Without further ado, next week’s Star Character in the FrInnDay tent is:
- Arabella (25%, 1,931 Votes)
- Roman (22%, 1,738 Votes)
- Grandma Frida (16%, 1,211 Votes)
- Augustine (12%, 939 Votes)
- Cornelius (7%, 506 Votes)
- Barabas (5%, 400 Votes)
- Luther (5%, 383 Votes)
- Ilemina (5%, 353 Votes)
- Adira Kline (2%, 193 Votes)
- Jim (2%, 117 Votes)
Total Voters: 7,771
PS: I’ve deliberately not included certain characters from Innkeeper, because they appear in Sweep of the Heart, and not everyone has read the serial. So please, protect your friends and don’t ask spoilers until release day on December 13th.
If there’s something you are dying to know which is an Innkeeper spoiler, you can email me directly at modr@ilona-andrews.com
Katherine says
I really want to know more about one of our side characters. Adira or Luther or Ilemina.
Sue says
Oh man, now I need to reread all the books (again!) to remember who a few of the last possibilities are.
Michelle from Wisconsin says
Great idea to focus on a new character every week! Thanks much.
Ewa says
HELP who is Andira Kline?
Moderator R says
Adira is one of the Inn guests in Sweep with Me, the Drifàn of Green Mountain.
Sam says
Ohhh, Drifan! That’s the word I forgot in my response above- had to settle for leader…
iKitty says
Please when do we hear from Hugh and his lovely Witch ????
Pence says
+
Barbara says
I would really like to see a short Luther pov. He’s so perceptive, and has been there for the Daniels saga almost from Day 1.
sarafina says
+99
JB says
Lol. Poor Jim. Ah well. At least he can continue to be a badass lurking in the shadows this way… (currently 1% and 64 votes as of noon Friday)
I’m honestly excited to read whatever. House Andrews has always been exceptional at making their side and background characters interesting. Heck, I’d take an update on Sandra, Harpy Lady from a Kate snippet. What cult was she fighting, where did she go and so on. Like I said, House Andrews somehow makes everyone feel like they have a story to tell and without taking away from the main characters!
Katrina says
The poll was hard because there are so many great choices!
joan says
What would be most fun to write? I think our beloved authors deserve some fun too.
Robin says
What happens when Cornelius’ sister meets Bug????
Can you imagine multiple Michaels paying an in person simultaneous call to ask Arabella out?
What sort of situation would cause Leon to get tested?
Can we please see the next installment of Patricia’s family drama? She was out of town the last time the compound was attacked, but constructs could be so much fun! How about a drill to get the guards accustomed to working with the constructs?
Oooooh, so many possibilities…..
Moderator R says
Why would Bug meeting Diana Harrison warrant 4 question marks ????? I’m a bit lost, what am I missing?
Robin says
Guessing my reply got blocked. Hopefully because it was too close to what might be. I did not intend to offend.
Moderator R says
It was a bit too close to fanfic, which is against the blog rules ????
Bug was not written and will never be a romantic character. His HEA is being the best Bug he can be, with a pet or two. For more details, you can see here https://ilona-andrews.com/2022/ruby-fever-spoilerific-qa/
Jenny says
Talk about a Sophie’s Choice guys!!! That was hard, and I would love a story about any of those characters.
Once again, we are a beloved horde.
Thank you overlords.
Monica says
How about Beast?
Juni says
That was confusing As it had Fri and Inn I guessed you wanted only an Inn character
Thomas Coakley says
I have this fond dream that one day Hidden Legacies will rerelease with extended versions that tell the whole tale as Ilona and Gordon want without restrictions by the publisher. I also dream of hitting the lottery…I dream big.
sarafina says
Roman was my second choice, but we NEVER HEAR about Luther, and he is the best!!
I was just listening to Maud’s book on audio and have a couple of questions.
1) Maud says her dad and mom restrained the Mukama (sp?) chasing her. So did Maud’s mom pick up innkeeper talents by living there, the way Sean did?
2) Maud also apparently has the ad hal freeze ability, even though Gerard is not her bio father. How does that happen?
Moderator R says
Maud’s mother became an Innkeeper to save Gerard, her father.
Gerard was not an ad-hal nor an innkeeper, merely a human guest at an inn who got trapped inside it. He later became an Innkeeper alongside Helen.
Neither Innkeeper nor Ad-hal powers are genetic. There is no such thing as “Innkeeper magic”. There are people with magic who can get in touch with it, practice with it and form a bond with an Inn.
Henry says
In Gerard meets Helen, the ‘invisible’ Gerard attacked the realtor, because she tried to get Helen to not buy the house. Gerard had to have some magic to be able to attack the realtor. Gerard recognized Helen had just enough magic, to help him break the witch’s curse, I believe a crown of thorns.
Moderator R says
Gerard has magic, because he is human. All humans have magic ????. Not all humans recognise it or practice it, however.
I don’t know what the rest of what you said means, I’m sorry.
Henry says
Gerard was trapped in the building by a curse when he helped the Inn Keeper escape. Brian Rodriguez, the Dallas Innkeeper, said all the Innkeepers owed Gerard for what he did.
Moderator R says
Gerard was trapped in an inn, after selflessly intervening to save an innkeeper’s wife and child ????.
There’s no curse, no witch, and no crown of thorns that I know of.
Henry says
He was trapped by a pentagram, I mistakenly thought it was a Hedge of Thorns. He magically threw a rock at a mouse. Paragraphs 1 – 4 When Gerard meets Helen.
Henry says
There may be some conflict between who has magic in Gerard meets Helen and in Clean Sweep.
In Gerard and Helen, Paragraphs 1 – 4, Gerard was trapped in a pentagram and uses magic.
In Clean Sweep, Chapter 4, Paragraphs 34 and 36. When Dina went to Dallas to get advice from Brian the first time, Brian said in Paragraph 34, Gerard, a guest, put himself in jeopardy for the sake of an Innkeeper’s wife and children. In Paragraph 36, Brian said, Helen selflessly saved him from an eternity of imprisonment.
Moderator R says
Henry, there is no conflict ????.
As the books state repeatedly and I have explained to you, all humans from Earth have magic.
Both Helen and Gerard are humans. They both have magic. The humans who realise they have magic *and* bond with an inn become Innkeepers.
There’s no special “Innkeeper magic talent” that gets passed genetically and you have to be the Chosen one to have it. It’s just the bond.
It’s as simple as that.
Renee says
So Frihordeday ?
Love all the house Andrews stories … all the stories ????!!!
Mollster says
Yummy, thanks so much!
EmmaC says
Roman!
Lyn says
I find it difficult to believe that Roman has not been clamoring–loudly–for his own book. 😀
Jessie West says
This is really cool! Thank you so much for this, House Andrews!
Michael Hall says
Okay, so I really feel like I should know who Adira Kline is, but……it’s right there on the tip of my toungue…..nope sorry, I’m pulling a complete blank here. Mod R, have mercy on me (and anyone else with memory issues) and do us a solid, pretty please? Who, oh who is Adira Kline? Thanks you’re the greatest! ????????
Moderator R says
Adira Klein is a character from the Innkeeper Novella, Sweep with me. She is the Liege of Green Mountain, a human who became one of the Drifàn
Michael Hall says
I KNEW she sounded familiar. But I couldn’t even place the correct series. Thanks, oh so much for the reminder.
Ansela says
Augustine please! There’s not enough Augustine fiction in the world
Debra K Hoffmaster says
Come on Mod R. Rig the poll for Roman!
Emma C says
do it! do it! do it!
Barbara Shelby says
That is so fantastic!! Not having Fridays to look forward to was heartbreaking!
Bill G says
Cool concept; thank you.
Jean-ann Stump says
I voted for Luther. He is one of my favorite side characters. I would love to learn more about him.
Emma C says
I like Luther too – he can have my next vote.
Emma C says
Roman is catching up! could it be his time to shine??
Oona says
I have a question? In the past when the blog closed comments, we got a notice. Now, I just can’t post anything. Is it me, or is it that the comments are actually closed? Just wondering. Because you know… I’d have words about what to buy. As in must have T shirt, mug and tote for certain. Apron, cold beverages, water bottle carriers, pillow cases/pillows, mugs (beer glasses?) oven mitts and hoodies are a plus 1 ask as well. PJs with sayings too…. And I’m not picky on the characters…. Roman, Curran, Nevada, Augustine, you name I buy it 🙂 I have difficult people to buy for, LOL
Moderator R says
Hi Oona,
Which posts are you trying to comment on? ???? Old posts automatically close comments, I believe it’s 2 weeks or 20 days, I will have to check.
Wilbur says
Remind me who Adira Kline and Ilemina are?
Moderator R says
They are Innkeeper Chronicles characters, so if you haven’t read that series you won’t know them ????.
Ilemina is Arland’s mother, the Perceptor of House Krahr; and Adira Kline is one of the inn guests during Sweep with Me, the Drifàn of Green Mountain.
Sharon says
Oh I had forgotten who Adira is! I would love to see more of her.
Amanda Miller says
ModR being brilliant as usual. Thanks!
Proud Bookworm says
Such an excellent plan to spoil the BDH! Thank you House Andrews!!
Wendy says
more Roman, please! TYVM!
Melissa says
I’d like to see Karat added to the list, but really I’ll enjoy any and all of the above!
Naenae says
Team Beast of Houston!!!!! Roarrr!!!!!!
Pence says
More Costco Lady
Sharon says
Oh I am so happy to see that Fridays are going to be fun again!
Voting for ONE is so hard. I did vote for Arabella, and it looks like most people did, but I will love any story with any character IA wishes to present to us.
Katie says
I had to pick Roman b/c I love him, but Arabella was a close second. That being said, I want goodies on so many of them.
Judy says
I love Roman and voted for him but, honestly, I will read anything you all write. 🙂
However, speaking of backstories, I was kind of hoping you all would develop the ” Grace of Small Magics” story into a series. Any plans…???(written with hope in her heart and a sheepish, cheesy grin on her face…)
Kylie in Australia says
So where’s Julie or Derek?
Or (secret not secret wish) is their/his back story goodies/character development/tropes and ships integral to the 2nd blood heir book and so couldn’t be on this list.
here’s hoping 🙂
But there is no bad pick as we have many Fridays and many characters to look forward too
Thank you for bringing back Fridays (Saturday in Australia)
Steve L says
Darn I can’t believe so few people wonder how Jim is doing. I guess picking the absolute last place character was inevitable when you take part in multiple poles it will happen eventually.
no matter who it’s about I can’t wait.
another person I wonder about that wasn’t on there was Dina’s brother, I have a feeling you have a plan for that.
thank you for thinking of us have a good weekend
Tania Walker says
I love Roman!
I’d read anything though.
Think it’s time to do a reread of everything though as my mind has gone blank when it comes to
Luther, Adina and Ilemina!
was Luther the Wizard mage official that helped Kate?
Tania Walker says
It’s okay, I got it! ilemina is Arlands mother and adina was a guest. Flippin brain damage does my head in!
Mary says
I would have voted but the select all option wasn’t available.
Gerganna says
dear HA, dear mod R,
its great that you found so brilliant solution for our hunger!thank you so much!
i voted for Arabella, i hope that soon will come into open her story too….
Jesse says
Any, all, whatever you gift us with.
That said, I’d love to see something with real ripper cushions, please.
Because we love the young warrior, and love watching warriors grow up.
Thank you.
Elle Dechene says
Really, any and all would be fun. I did vote for Adria Kline, though, because she was such a complex and kick ass character. What a fabulous world to base a book in.
Helen says
This may seem off topic, but I recently re-read Magic Triumphs and Iron & Magic. Currently re-reading Blood Heir and I have to say more on Hugh & Elara or Julie & Derek would be most welcome. Huge fan, so all new releases are always highly anticipated, but Conlan cameos are adorable and I REALLY want Julie & Derek together :). Why does Hugh want Elara to eat a whole chicken? Hope you’re all keeping well.
Jennifer says
Sounds fun for any character. I voted for Roman because I’ve always wanted to see more of him and know more about his character!
Mary Ellen says
I really want to know what is happening with Maud and Arland now that Klaus is there. Please tell me this is next as I REALLY hate cliffhangers.
mort says
frinndays were cool – I am looking forward for the next innkeeper in about a few years and enjoy the kinsmen or kate or baylors for now :~) just a question: I think I could have voted for the man on the road as well instead of roman. Will that be an option in the future?
Kylie in Oz says
Just watching a doco about lost cities of the bible.
It has mentioned gilgamesh, lumasso, sumerians, assyria, Babylon, nimrod, uruk.
Its like a Kate conversation. So much fun
