Ouch
Keera says
No no they don’t. Especially when they keep it cut short.
Latricia says
LOL, even when they have it long. My hubby wears it longer than mine AND has 6 sisters. He is awesome, but ultimately he’s still a guy and doesn’t always get it. But they try and we love them for it.
Keera says
Anytime I am having issues with mine the first thing the husband suggests it to cut it all off ?. He is a Marine and has to get it cut every week so he doesn’t care at all.
Akeru says
They really don’t understand… I thought it looked nicely casually wavy.
Tiffany Roberts says
LOL! My husband understands because HE is the one with the curly hair. I so have hair envy when it comes to his hair.
Lauren says
I use he diva curl gel and curl makers and love it!
Erica says
No. They usually don’t.
Kristine says
My husband did not understand why our daughterâs hair is really curly/wavy…..I grew my hair out from its short cut. He never asked again and he never questions me about my hair….(he is bald…)
Your hair looks great! I truly love the curly hair look and I will never go back…
Cheryl M says
Oooo, yeah, he doesnât understand (and is lucky to be among the living.
KC says
?
Some guys, the ones who have long hair, do understand–Gordon is not one. ?
I have wavy hair, but it frizzes like crazy. I lightly rub my hands with fructis leave in conditioner after I’ve blown dry/brush to control the frizz.
Kristina says
That meme!
Nancy says
I thought it looked super cute! My straight hair was very jealous.
Lenore Kester says
+1
vinity says
Hahaha! I love it
Shelly says
I love it. The worst comment I ever received for my curly hair was from an old boss. I took my hair down due to a headache ( I wore it in a bun99% of the time for work ). He came in. Did a double take. Then thinking he was complimenting me said, âwow itâs so bushy.â Bushy.
PurpleRabbit says
I had an uncle who kept telling me my hair ‘looked like a whin (ie, gorse) bush’ (Northern Ireland accent is required for full effect).
A Cloney says
Hahaha my mum used to nag me to brush my curly hair… even at the age of 18. So one day I let her comb my luscious locks. Cue fluff head. I’ve never been nagged again :).
VeronicaK says
They don’t have a clue. Like you ever brush curly hair ? I have super curly, ringlet style hair so I get it. Your hair looks really cute that way! My husband prefers my hair blown straight for some reason. Men, rolls eyes again…
Jo says
I have thin fine hair. My 8 year old has curly hair. I’m at a loss. How do I get the knots out if I can’t brush it?
Kat Klein says
You only brush it in the shower when you’re conditioning it. NEVER once it’s dry. Years of experience taught me that!
Pam says
Comb it in the shower before rinsing out the conditioner.
Katherine Meservy says
I quit asking my husband because I’d be super pleased with my hair being not a frizzed mess and my husband would say awww, you took away the fluffy parts. Apparently, he likes the electric socket look?
Teresa says
Your husband is a gem.
Kate says
Cue that little girl from Despicable Me …
‘It’s SO FLUFFY!!!’
MissB2U says
It looks beautiful! Love the color too! I always wanted curly red hair. Next lifetime I guess…
seantheaussie says
Men just don’t understand or women are mad about their hair.
I know which one my money is on?
Danielle says
I was trying to get a curl out of my wavy hair and ask my husband what he thought. He told me it was a âcurly, wet, messâ. ??ââïž
Deborah Pearlman says
I think it looked great. My hair got straighter as I aged. I miss curls like that
Karen the Griffmom says
Me too. The genes didn’t pass to the kids either; they both have exceeding thick, straight hair. Sigh.
R Coots says
I thought it looked fine! And I totally sympathize! Mine thinks hair care means shaving it all off over the trash can every couple months or so.
Amelie says
So are the first pictures of your hair looking like regular curls/waves before you ran a brush through it? Because they look fine there and then in the second group of pictures your hair does look more frizzy like you put a brush through it and I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but that first picture in the second group reminded me of Curran and a lion’s mane!
Do you really brush your hair when it’s dry? And if so, why? Because my hair is basically what yours looks like in the second group of pictures if I brush it dry and I avoid the electrocuted Benjamin Franklin look at all costs. The first rule of curly and wavy hair is never, under any circumstances, brush it when it is dry! I could be wrong obviously but by the set of photos it just seems like what you did. Do not listen to your husband (I’m sure he means well but he is clueless as all men are when it comes to a woman’s hair) and do your thing with your hair! Men do not know better.
Kate says
I was thinking the post brush pics looked more Merida from Brave.
Maybe Gordon has a hidden thing for redheaded scots…
Mousewynne says
Well he IS a Gordon after all!
Susan Belvin says
I opt for cute and wavy
Jen K says
Men, sigh. I like it. And the color too
Sherre says
It looks cute!!! I love it!
R C says
I’ve got natural curl. Your first pic is me at the beginning of the day. Your last pic is me after just one day with it unbound. It just bushes as my head moves. I end up looking a lot like the girl from Brave.
Valz says
My hair is very straight. My husband loves to look at me in the morning, whilst it is sticking out (and sometimes after I brush it) and say, “are you going to roll back that wig.” And yet, he breathes. I really love him
Jeanine Lesperance says
It looks fabulous! Those without long hair….have no right to opinion..LOL
Suzann Schmid says
He doesnât get it for sure. I have wavy hair, middle daughter curly. It has a mind of itsâ own. Brushing after drying is verboten. ? Stay strong and beautiful.
Karen the Griffmom says
I am envious of all of you with thick wavy, curly hair. Mine left after high fever illness, plus age.
Tracey says
I only brush my hair when I want to look like an alpaca.
Arlene says
Try Lubricity. It is a shampoo and conditioner created by a chemist for his daughter for her curly hair. My daughter uses it and it has helped make her curls uniform and smoother. Less of the unbrushed look. Lol
Natasha Johnson says
Ohh Iâll have to try that on my daughter!
Heather says
I’ll second the DevaCurl products! But it looks great!
Debbie says
Men only understand hair changes if they get a cue card. I really like the free flow curly girl method on you, it looks great. The curls look soft and touchable.
Rene says
Your hair is lovely.
Gigi says
I have curly hair and only use deva products..have used for the past 10 years. I ride two hours for a deva trained technician to cut my hair. The struggle is real. But deva and the curly girl system saved me and my hair.
Jill says
Looks great. Have you tried ghost oil by Verb love all of there products.
Tink says
Yeah, I prefer the before pictures to the brushed pictures.
Remember when permed hair was big in the 80s and 90s? (And not big as in size — although it was that, too, sometimes — but big as in popular.) I have naturally curly hair but I tried having it permed once. Notice I said once. It wasn’t too terribly bad, it was just the curls were really tight and not something I’d done before. No one could get used to it.
I think the “not brushed” comment might come from the top of the head, where the hair is still somewhat straight. You’d have to use a pick comb, but maybe that’s the part he meant????
Teresa says
My mother permed my hair once. I cried for two weeks. The next time she saw me she said, ” I may have left that on top long”. You think mom, I can’t get a brush through it.
Kate says
…aaah Michael Hutchence.
Though I don’t know that he got it permed, just more reminiscing about the 80s đ
Remember the ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ vid?
mmm
Lynn-Marie says
I grew up with curly hair in the age where pageboys were the “in” cut. The more I brushed my hair, the more it looked unbrushed. My mom used to send me back to the bathroom to get ready for school…because my hair looked so messy. (Curls from my dad’s side of the family).
jewelwing says
I think it’s just a matter of taste. He might like it better brushed, but it’s your hair. FWIW I come from a generation that *always* brushed our hair. Mine is pretty much like yours. That’s why I’ve worn it very short for most of my adult life. When it was long, I wore it in a braid – French for dressy applications, regular for everyday. Occasionally I would do a sort of French twist. Wearing it loose anywhere but to bed wasn’t really an option.
Just pick the look you like for everyday, and you can humor him occasionally if he prefers a different one.
jewelwing says
My husband prefers mine long btw. He’s had to get over that.
Ann S says
Ooh , wrong answer. Thatâs a rookie mistake, too. He should know better.
Sechat says
Why do we ask them? We know better. The curls and the color are gorgeous.
Finally read Iron and Magic. Been saving it for a special occasion….which turned out to be learning that my stepdad has stage IV cancer.
McMe says
?? So sorry to hear about your Dad. *hugs* I hope Iron and Magic helped you as much as books have helped me through life’s rough patches.
Oh, and I totally agree that Ilona’s curls are gorgeous!
Jo says
Also sending hugs. Life is a gut punch some times.
Pam says
It looks very nice. I actually was looking for something for my daughter . Thank you in a round about way
Catlover says
Thank you ladies for providing my laugh of the day. I only wish I had that much hair.
My roommate has braided hair, seriously it’s down to her hips, and my cat loves it. He considers it his personal play toy. He sleeps on her pillow when her hair is down so he can wallow in it. So funny.
Elise says
Curly girl method for life. Hope you enjoy the results!
Gloria says
Loved the curly girl look and husbands really donât get it!
Amber says
? oh you want me to brush my curly hair? I donât think you are prepared for that level of fluff!
Your curly hair looks amazing. Heâs a boy, he doesnât know.
PurpleRabbit says
Ouch. I love your curly girl look. As punishment, I think you should make Gordon read every single comment in the previous blog about curly hair. I’m pretty sure he’ll never make that mistake again!
PurpleRabbit says
Oops, sorry to anyone else who had flashbacks to that dungeon …
Pat Sciarini says
Ah, I like it! Mine is the same, and rd too, and that is the exact comment that my husband made. I did comb it, so he could see the results. Doesnât ask me anymore. And, I was at a conference in Texas, let my hair air dry. Got to the meeting, and had several comments about how they just loved my âbig hairâ. So, do what works for you!
Sue says
I love your curly hair Ilona đ It looks great unbrushed, while the brushed look makes you look like you stuck a fork in an outlet. My hair looks like yours when it’s long. But around 03 my hair got so heavy I got headaches. Off came my hip-length hair. Now I have an above the collar, fluffy bob. Which I can get away with brushing because the shorter it gets the less curly it is.
maddbookish says
My husband loves my curly hair and he knows itâs a handful. I once got a blow out and he was not a fan. Said I didnât look like myself at all.
I only ever use a wide-tooth comb when my hair is wet, after Iâve put my hair products in. I just leave it alone otherwise. No brushing.
