The Release Schedule has been updated. 🙂 Please remember that all dates are tentative.
Catalina snippet for you, since they won’t let us post the cover yet.
Benedict smiled at me, a quick precise baring of perfect teeth. “I will be blunt: you intrigue me. You don’t taste like a psionic; they give off a mental stench they can’t mask. I don’t detect the sharpness of a mind cutter or the particular flavor of a dominator. You’re definitely not an empath. I tend to disturb them beyond their level of comfort. You almost taste like nothing, yet there is this slight hint of spice. A beguiling aftertaste.”
And he went right into creepy. “I think you give yourself too little credit, Mr. De Lacy. Empaths are not the only people you disturb beyond their comfort level.
Jovan Welch says
First!?
Jovan Welch says
Yay! Now I can be at peace lol

I agree with Catalina — that dude sounds creepy.
BryMarie92 says

Lona says
Right? I don’t know whether to dislike him or admire his backward way of making you remember him. Wouldn’t it be funny if he’s a suitor?
Tink says
Ditto. Anyone else seeing Anthony Hopkins licking his lips as he talks about Chianti and fava beans?
DianaInCa says
I didn’t nail you mentioned it ? Now I think he is really creepy
DianaInCa says
No nail but until
Teej says
+1, and Catalina w the verbal smackdown for the win! Buuuuut he seems like the kinda guy who’d take that as a compliment, instead…..
Linda B says
Same here. It made tiny hairs on my neck stand up.
Anne208r says

EliHetrick says

So exciting! I’m in downtown Houston doing jury duty today…thinking a lot about the Hidden Legacy books and Lenora Jordan!

If anyone starts throwing fire around…run! 😉
Fera says
It was just past midnight here and OMG!!! Mr. Benedict, you sounded intriguing too!!????
Momcat says
Intriguing like the contents of a bug zapper?
Cheryl M says
Thank you! Hope you had a great day of relaxation yesterday. Now, off to check the release schedule…
Michelle says
❤️❤️❤️
Cerulean says
I didn’t think it was possible to be even MORE excited about this book, but I am now! Thank you!!!
KC says
Dude, this guy sounds like a major creep.
And since the last post from here I read was the bdsm dungeon house, I can’t help but set this conversation in that setting, so it’s extra shudder-worthy.
As to release schedule I preorder, forget about it until I get notification I was charged (in other words, release date). But I fo like to schedule free time for book reading so, that’s helpful.
P.S. as an aside to members of the BDH who cheer me on, I’ll have some of my photography exhibiting in a regional gallery, at a national trust property in Australia next month. And yes, I’ve had Men at Work’s “Land Down Under” in my head ever since I got the news. #earworms
Leena says
So creepy…. *shudders*
Also, what part of the land of Oz are you in? I’m in Melbourne and would love to see your exhibition if I can get there ??
KC says
I’m in Texas, I just happen to have some work heading there to exhibit in March. I’m waiting on a few final details, my understanding is its a spot somewhere around Sydney.
I was invited as they’re putting together an exhibit spotlighting work from New York’s Hudson River Valley, and I have exhibited & sold in a gallery there previously.
I wish I was accompanying the art, but I’m not. My friend though is hosting a workshop in country next month. ?
Although, as much as Id want to take photos there, we Americans have an impression of Australia being the land where nature is trying to kill you, so I’m kinda scared too ?.
Anne208r says
Don’t believe the hype! As an Aussie I can assure you that we rarely see the dangerous stuff ? come down to visit if you can!
Ista in Sydney says
It’s not dangerous, and before I moved to Aus I grew up in a country with zero snakes and 3 venomous types of spider that nobody I knew had ever seen.
I’m in Sydney, so which gallery or the name of the exhibition and I’ll look out for it.
Amanda P says
Woohoo!!!?
Happy Monday, got back from work to find this.
Thank you?
Joanne says
I aspire to deliver cutting remarks like this in person! This brought a huge smile to my face as I’m seeing more and more of Catalina that I like! 🙂 Just as deadly as other female heroines but more poised.

This is day 4 of Snow days in Seattle. I spent the last few days, eating, sleeping, listening to books, watching Midsomer Murders, and shoveling snow…a lot of snow. Thanks for the snippet – can’t wait to see what the Baylors have been up do since becoming a HOUSE.
Susan says
How much snow did you get? Been hearing stories of things running out at the stores due to the snow. Right now we are getting lots of rain turning to ice in Illinois. Would rather have two or three inches of snow than a layer of ice! Hope I can open my car door tomorrow when I need to get to work! Very nervous about going out! I fell on glare ice in our driveway two weeks ago… my knee hurt for a week!
Ami says
Ohhh yeah creepy is the right word. Weirdo. Make you wanna take a bath.
Thank you for the snippet!
Judy Schultheis says
A shower – I wouldn’t want to sit in the contaminants from that guy.
Kamrin says
Awesome-thank you for the snippet! Hope you guys got a little rest
Claire M says
Yay!! Very exciting. And thank you for the snippet too!!

Roseanne Lobbezoo says
I get more and more intrigued with every snippet you produce! My anticipation level has just upped another notch. Thank for this little peek!
Chiara (AKA Chandramas) says
I love that Catalina seem to have a even more sarcarstic (which I think is totally not the proper word in this case) than Nevada! Is she spending too much time with Bug?
I love her!
Katrina Collins says
Any idea when Sweep of the Blade will be up for order? I am drooling in anticipation!
Gracie O'Neil says
Where do I find the Release Schedule? Is there a link?
savil says
to find it: if you are reading on your phone, you need to click the menu button and it will be in the pull down menu. else, on my chrome browser its at the top of the page, right above Ilona’s name. or link: https://ilona-andrews.com/about/release-schedule/
Gracie O'Neil says
Thank you, Savil! You’re an angel. 🙂
Lee says
Thank you, Savil! I was wondering the same thing.
savil says
THREE!!??? Three new releases in 2019? (i count sweep of the blade as new, because there will be edits) Thank you so so so so much! This year is looking better already!
Susan J. says
Thank you! Such an intriguing snippet.
DianaInCa says
Thanks for the snippet and the schedule update!
Momcat says
May, August and October release dates? Then obligatory book tours? Do you people ever sleep? Or do you hire doubles for the tours while you catch up on some well earned shut eye? NTDL! (Not Too Damned Likely)
VeronicaK says
I hope you had a nice day off! Thanks for the snippet ❤Benedict is totally creepy and I love Catalina. Off to look at the release schedule.
Oli says
You just made my day. I love kinsmen and I was hoping for audio. Thank you ?
Regina says
I’m usually a quiet and reserved reader, but when I read the snippet I burst out laughing and scared the hell out of our little dog! If the poor thing had leaped up any faster she would have slipped out of her skin! So thank you for two belly laughs… totally worth getting major stink eye from the offended pooch.
You’re the best!
Nickole195 says
thank you – anything you give us is so appreciated. dealing w snow in Victoria, which rarely happens, yes Seattle got a dump and we bypassed that first pass of snow, but it is hitting us now. this snippet is odd, trying to figure in what context this convo will be happening, so intrigued and cannot wait for this book. my absolute favourite series you guys have done.
Faith says
Wow!! That’s a super busy year for you. Thank you for all of your hard work but please do try to get some rest in there.
Donna says
Thanks for the snippet, even though I am a little disturbed too. You always deliver when I need you.
Lee says
Great snippet! Thank you. I hope the break yesterday helped and that you enjoyed your time off.
Elenariel says
Creepy indeed, but I’m curious!
Can’t wait for all of them, and Magic Triumphs paperback too (when is it scheduled, by the way?)
Thank you for another very appetizing snippet!
Rohaise says
Wow that’s a busy release schedule. The possibility of more Kinsman someday makes me happy. Thank you for the snippet — can’t wait for the book.
wont says
Very nice! Catalina seems to have a sharp set of teeth of her own! Sounds like Benedict was named well! LOL!
wont says
I didn’t look at the release schedule first. That definitely is tight. More date nights need to be scheduled!
Terry says

Sob
Ms. Kim says
He reminds me of Saiman.
Sleepy says
Things went wrong today… Snippet helped thanks
Mickey says
Sorry. I have a silly question. Where is the updated release schedule? So looking forward to reading your new books.
trailing wife says
It’s a drop down item at the top of the page above the Ilona Andrews name, Mickey.
Bill G says
Fascinating! Thank you.
Jules says
Awesome snippet! Catalina is shaping up to be a very deep character. The way her magic has shaped her perceptions and interactions with others is obviously quite profound. It’s super awesome that we have Arabella to look forward to, too!
Thanks so much for all you do for us, the rabid Horde of book devourers.
That said, please please PLEASE take some time for yourselves.
(Note: this request is for perfectly selfish reasons, since you can’t feed my book addiction if you’re not well in body and mind.) 😀
Laura in Chico says
+1 for all of Jules’ comments.
Valerie Hockens says
Audio of Kinsmen February 2019. Sweet! Will keep check Audible until it pops up. Who is narrating, Renee or Emily?
Susan says
I would like to add as a non-audible member… will Iron and Magic and the Kinsmen audio also be on MP3 CD? I was thrilled to get Magic Triumphs on MP3 CD and hardcover!
Judy Schultheis says
I see you’re aiming for May for Sweep of the Blade. LOUD CHEERS AND GREAT REJOICING!!!
I’ll pre-order as soon as it’s available.
Amy Ann says
There you go again, creating memorable characters. I can’t wait to see the rest of this scene. And the entire book. I’m becoming more intrigued every day. Thanks!
njb says
So much to look forward to!! Thanks for the snippet and the update!
Ista in Sydney says
I’m happy to wait as long as it takes. I’m a proud BDH but not at the expense of the Authorlords physical or mental health.
FBR says
I loved a well delivered cut like this. So excited for the next book. 🙂
Tara says
First reaction: wow, that is one rigorous release schedule!
Cristina says
“De Crazy” One has talked. I don´t know him, but… I hope he plays a minor role or that he dies soon.
Léa Bourg says
Am I the only one hearing Benedict Cumberbatch/ Smaug voice here ??
CJ says
Very Hannibal Lectorish vibe.
BD says
Agreed…shudder…
Anonymous says
love it!!
Richard Cartwright says
Do we have a date certain for the Audiobook release? Audible is not showing it in the coming soon, (which FWIW does not mean anything as books have popped up on release day that were not to be found in coming soon 24 hours earlier)
Molly-in-Md says
Thanks for the update. Trying not to hold my breath because I’ll pass out but very exciting.
BTW, some of the linked pages are way out of date. I noticed that https://ilona-andrews.com/hidden-legacy/ doesn’t even have novel #3, never mind Catalina’s stories. Also, https://hiddenlegacy.ilona-andrews.com/cast-of-characters/ only reflects #1 and the formatting is off. If the Release Schedule page is going to link to these pages, getting them current might be a good project for Brandi?
Irishmadchen says
Love how Catalina is developing such a spine and sharp wit! Can’t wait.
Carol says
Love that come back to his arrogance and creepiness! Awesome!
Cath says
I didn’t realize for years that real people were used for covers. Now I look at them and I think, “Somewhere out there, a man who looks like Hugh is walking around, only in ordinary clothes.”
I’m not sure what I think about that, but it is interesting.
Cath says
and seated round the campfire were brigands large and brigands small. The captain of this robber band said to one of his trusted men, “Antonio! Tell us a story.”
Antonio rose and said, “It was a dark and stormy night, and seated round the campfire were brigands large and brigands small. . .”
