Hey guys, Brandi Bolden taking over the blog today because Ilona isn’t feeling super good (don’t worry, it’s just allergies). I wanted to remind you all that on April 6th, you can get a chance to see Ilona Andrews, and so many other exciting writers, at the RARE event in Paris! It’s basically going to be mind blowing. And y’all will have me constantly posting updates through the website and newsletter, so be sure to check in every once and awhile to make sure you have everything you need to have an awesome time in Paris. I have included below the official promotional ad for the event, and as you can see it’s a star studded lineup.
And if you can’t make it on the 6th, Ilona Andrews will also be making an appearance at the bookstore LA MOUETTE RIEUSE in the Marais district from 5pm to 7.30pm on Friday. This is also gonna be a can’t-miss evening, because it gives readers who won’t be at RARE a chance to get their books signed and see their favorite authors.
Like I said, I’ll be keeping y’all updated probably everyday. If you have any questions regarding RARE or the LA MOUETTE RIEUSE event, shoot an email my way and I can see if I can address it in the next couple of posts so everyone has the answers they need. We’re super excited, and we hope y’all are too!
Thanks,
Brandi Bolden

I wanna get to Paris again!!!!! Yes, I am whining. But I hope the AuthorLords have a wonderful time drinking my Kir Royals at the cafe near Notrd Dame.
Keera says
Hope Ilona’s allergies lets up, I just got my sense of smell back sometime this week. Hope they have a good time in Paris! Have fun everyone who gets to go.
Joe says
And I hope they have the chance to stop by Shakespeare and Co. (the successor to Sylvia Beach’s bookstore)!
Kristyn says
Uhmmm whaaaat?! I’m going to Paris the 5th for spring break. Maybe I can work it into my trip.
Sarah says
Safe travels.
I have heard if you take local honey long term it is supposed to help allergies that are local – something to do with the bees collecting pollen from the local plants.
Meanwhile, for allergies we tend to use Allegra D 12 hour – the 24 hour just doesn’t work as well for us somehow. Here it isn’t prescription, but it may require a prescription there. They do keep track of how much you buy as there is something in it that amateur chemists use to make illegal drugs somehow. That and Nasalcort which is over the counter but I sure hate nose spray myself.
Thank you for the snippet!
Robin Moore says
None of the 24 hr antihistamines work for us. Chlortrimeton extended release does but its pricey. We take Benadryl, two or three if its not cutting in after an hour and buy tissues in bulk. Neti pot time when trees are the offenders. Allergy season sucks. The antihistamines wear off with a bang and my nose starts running again at the worst time when I am trying to do do something useful usually. Some days I think the universe is determined to mess with me. I just have to roll with it and adjust my expectations of what I can do downwards. God bless Puffs plus lotion. Achoo!~ $&#!@%!! is my kids favorite comedy routine.
Lynn T. says
I agree. I had to benadryl the pup yesterday as he ignored me telling him 3 times not to snap at bees. Oh it was beautiful jump around 7 feet and snap. Then it was slobber city. Sigh. He is fine, no swelling or drooling today. Just a plain old allergic response.
But yes neti pot works for me much better than antihistamines which either put me to sleep or make nose run worse. The honey I get from local beekeeper association helps. Grocery store honey not at all.
Like you said it is spring.
Shannon in Texas says
Robin, Chlorpheniramine, the non-extended relief version of chlortrimetron, is available on Amazon cheap-cheap. 1,000 tabs for <$10.00. It's exactly the same pill as sold in Walgreens in 50 ct. bottles for ~$7. I've tried All The Things over the years, and it's the only one that works for me. :hands tissues: Bless you!
Keera says
I second the local honey.
wont says
Not to argue, but, a local TV station addressed this because a viewer had asked about the local honey thing. According to the experts they checked with, it is not true. Something to do with the pollen the bees take isn’t the pollen that causes allergies. It’s two different things. So, there is no help from local honey. If you want a more detailed explanation, it is at KHOU.com. It’s in their VERIFY section.
Lynn T. says
Interesting. I will have to check it out. I know local honey I buy from truly local beekeepers helps me but honey from grocery store does not. Thanks for the lead.
Angie Aebersold says
We don’t need a prescription in Switzerland but you need to buy from an apotheke (pharmacist). You can not buy allergy pills or any medication in a regular store, you would need to go to a pharmacy.
mimi says
I found out the sneezy way several years ago that benadryl is not sold OTC in France and nothing else really works for me in acute onset situations. Perhaps local wine would do the trick since honey is off the table! Bon voyage and have fun with le livre devorant la horde!
Cindy says
I admit to never having heard of any of the other writers.
Robin Moore says
Me either, I wonder what countries they hail from. I hope Ilona has time to see the Louvre while she is there.
Laurence says
I’ve been trying to read samples of these authors, for the moment, half are French (their names don’t seem French).
Apart from April White, I’m not sure yet if I’ll be interested in seeing anyone else.
Laurence says
Sorry, I was talking about the RARE 19 thing, not the Mouette Rieuse.
I’ll have a look at those authors
Fera says
Have fun and safe travels!
Olivier says
See you there !!!
Laurence says
Youhou!!!
I’m really excited about the next weekend! And knowing they will also be in le Marais is awesome, I’ll be staying in the same area, I’ll try to stop by.
Thank you very much for the post!
Cheers

I was looking for a picture of the laughing seagull in Gaston from Frankin and I realised that I know the Bookstore*! It’s a stone’s throw away from my MIL and I love the place!
:o)
* it’s just that it changed owner about a year ago and the name changed at the same time so I didn’t recognised it right away.
Happy dance

ENVY!

Thanks for the update Brandi.
I’ll be at Rare with my sister just to meet Ilona ans Gordob, I would have loved to attend the event on Friday but my train is arriving at 11pm so that’s not going to happen.
Would you be doing an informal meet and greet by any chance, on saturday late afternoon/early evening (around drinks and delicious French pastries 😉 )?
Can’t wait to meet you all!!
sarafina says
A bookstore call “The Black-headed Gull”? Cool.
Valerie says
Thanks again for giving us an excuse to go to Paris – my second trip, my sister’s first. We’re looking forward to (hopefully) seeing Ilona and Gordon at the event! We’re vaguely worried that it may be a mad crush based on the email we got from the organizers this morning. So, schedule permitting, we may try to stop by the bookstore event. Safe travels and see you on the other side of the pond!
Bill G says
Enjoy, all!

Will there be a time the Authorlords will come to Australia? And It is awesome that they are going to be in Paris (just sucky that I won’t be there until August). Oh well, one day my dream of fangirling over them in person will come true hahaha. Safe flight
Dorothy says
The French word ‘mouette’ (seagull) does not have the same etymology as the English word ‘moue’ (a facial expression like a pout). I had assumed the two words would be connected — but they are not. It’s nice to associate a bookstore with laughter, maybe Barnes & Noble should re-brand. Have fun in Paris!
DianaInCa says
Safe travels, I would pack extra meds but I would hope that the allergies won’t bother you in France. Have fun!
Marnie says
Two words for Ilona: Neti pot. I have allergies too.
Anita says
It looks like I will miss this event, and it makes me sad. Being stationed in Germany now, it would have been easy to catch a train to Paris and try to get an autograph. :(. I will not return to Europe from emergency leave until the 11th. Will there be a taping of the interview/talk/discussion? I enjoy watching the event even when I cannot be there to participate. I truly enjoy their hard work! ?? Thank you for all of your hard work and I hope you feel better soon!
Henry says
I have to apologize for this question. The official announcement for the event says the name of the bookstore is La Mouelte, why does the spelling change to Mouette? I Google the word mouelte and came up mouette or seagull.
Laurence says
Hi,
It’s just that the font used for the invitation is weird, it’s indeed Mouette Rieuse.
Here’s a picture of the front (thanks to Google)
Laurence says
Well, I forgot the image…
Laurence says
(I need coffee).
Laurence says
not very lucky today!!!
CharisN says
Oh! It looks so charming and inviting and oh I want to be in Paris!
Henry says
Thanks Laurence. It is a different font. I have forgot several times to add an attachment. It happens late at night for me. That is similar to me forgetting to see if autocorrect changed anything into something attrocious.
Lynn T. says
Thank you, Brandi Bolton for the update. I appreciate you keeping us informed about Ilona Andrews. Hopefully their many fans across the pond will have a chance to meet and greet Ilona Andrews.
jewelwing says
Safe travels and good luck with the allergies. We feel your pain.
Alianna says
Much love to all of you; know it’s been stressful – haven’t seen the update on the edits lately, which likely means that it’s been slow going and slogging – keeping you in the light as you prep for your journey and hope that you have a very wonderful time there with enthusiastic and adoring fans!
barbara stewart says
Umm poster says April 5th. Hopefully, they’ll like the buffet. Hope you get to see everything you want to see.
Laurence says
Well, what a weekend!
It was very special meeting the Authorlords, both at the Mouette Rieuse (a very well attended event, where crowds were surrounding their table) and at the RARE.
It was my first time going to a RARE event, and I really liked it a lot.
Lots of people, from every age, type, style, mostly women, but I did see some men!
I’m really happy about the success Ilona Andrews had, their line was really crowded all the time. I hope they were able to go sightseeing on Sunday.
Back to my home with stars in my eyes, youhou!
xoxoxo

Perrine says
Hihi, I was there with 3 of my friends (male).
They were a little lost. They are Ilona Andrews fans but not especially Romance fans.
I had to guide them to my favorites authors and to explain a few things (like what is Romance FM and Romance MM)…
We had a lot of fun !
Perrine says
Just a huge Thank You !!!!
I was so pleased to meet you in Paris.
You are wonderful. Even after a tiring week, a tiring trip and 150 people asking for autographs and picture before us, you take time to greet and discuss with everyone.
We were so happy to see you.
A hope you will have a safe trip back.
Thanks again !!!
From France with Love 😉
