  20. We can wait . Bad work week, but nice time with friends . We went out for dinner had nice time ,went home and got food poisoning . Only me,but was bad night. Ginger helped . And better today.   24. I’m having a similar day, as evidenced by the fact that I didn’t realize until 3:00pm that it was A) Friday and B) I haven’t logged into the blog yet today {gasp}. Alas, no Innkeeper yet, but that’s probably good. I’d probably start reading and my boss would come in and I’ve no good excuse to give him as to why I can’t help him at the moment. Well, it’s a good excuse for me, but I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t see it that way.

    So I’ll have to rely on chocolate to de-stress me until the next Innkeeper drops. Feel my pain.

  26. in terms of bad things that happened this week, this is more of a delayed good/great thing, so I can’t be disappointed for the delay, just grateful that you are going to post soon. Hope you get to rest/relax on this long weekend.

      • Presidents’ Day in the US. George Washington ‘s and Abe Lincoln ‘s birthdays are this month. When I was little, we got the actual birthdays off from school. Then they combined them, added all the other presidents, and made it a Monday off for a long weekend. Sometimes one or more other days off are added for an extra long weekend.

        • I’m a state employee in a state where we don’t have that as a day off. This is a regular weekend here.

          • A lot of schools in the northeast. used Friday as an in-service day, so for many it is a four day weekend

Here’s where my split personalities show up: Adult me is grateful and appreciative that we get to look forward to a wonderful free story on Fridays and am completely understanding that life happens. Then the is the member of Book Devouring Horde me – that sides says “NO! FEED THE BEAST”. Some days are just harder than others….

  44. Oh the suspense is killing me. According to Google it’s now Saturday in Texas. Here the sun is already going down. I’ve been really really good today and did all my chores. Perhaps there will be a present for Sunday morning breakfast?

    • Nice, only San Marcos is central Texas, specifically the Hill Country. West Texas starts around Abilene and goes to El Paso.

      • Flagpole = Austin Tower = UT and Red Deer is not that far away.

        Further West than Santa Fe, Denver and Cheyenne = El Paso check the longitude.

        • I have no idea what you’re intending to convey here. If you meant ‘out West’ in ‘Texas’, I apologize for assuming you meant ‘West Texas’, which has a bit more specific definition than ‘the western half of Texas’. West Texas calls to mind the arid plains around Abilene and San Angelo out towards El Paso, with Midland and Odessa being the high school football stars of the region.

          Here’s an ‘alt country’ song that does a decent job capturing the way most of Texas see West Texas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq5rvQSv9Hk Or maybe it doesn’t describe West Texas so much as convey a feeling that describes the profound emptiness of the region. At least the emptiness I’ve always felt driving through it on Interstate 10.

          As for the longitude, yes, El Paso is fairly far west. I don’t understand why you think that means I-35 (Austin, San Marcos, San Antonio) are West Texas.

          The Texas Hill Country hugs I-35 from Austin to San Antonio and extends out west. So the western end of it could be called West Texas, but I don’t know what the Hill Country west of Kerrville has to do with authorlords or any of their works.

          As far as I can tell from google-fu, there is no Red Deer, Texas, but quite a few hunting lodges with ‘red’, ‘deer’, or ‘stag’ in the names. One of them is out near Kerrville, which is the western end of the Hill Country. Of course, this has nothing to do with the suburb where Gertrude Hunt exists, because that is near Houston, if I recall correctly, which puts Kerrville on the wrong side of I-35 for that.

          It doesn’t diminish the nice rhymes you compiled, though.

  51. Wildfire (re-reading while waiting) – Leon shows up right before David Howling strikes for last time. So does that show tactics is part of his magic not just sharp shooting? Maybe sharp shooting is his passive field and in the Army (or Navy) he will be a great tactical commander?

          • Just reread hidden legacy in between Saturday’s..

            I wonder if there is a bit of pre – cog to Leon’s talent? Bug at first wonders if he is a pre -cog, he shows up in the scene you mentioned because ‘he had a feeling’.. I find it interesting that he is now the only Baylor who hasn’t gone through trials and hasn’t had genetic testing… Could there be a link to a pre cog we used to know? ( It’s a pretty obvious jump so I assume not).

            I do hope this series continues.

    • Think about the Part where he commented on the Howling-uses-an-icechip-for-murder-situation…he comments on the finesse and tactics there too… I think he’s really more of a spy/assassin/hitman type of person. He might have a small covert team or a stealth unit though 🙂

      • But the aegis said Leon suddenly showed and said something bad was going to happen. I think that was his intuitive tactical sense. I think he can be more than an assassin. And he is a very outgoing personality. He would want to show off his magic (not low profile spy material). Personality wise, Bernard would be a better spy or assassin. Also, if Leon has a Tactical magic, could that be used in business?

  56. Read everyone’s comments at least twice. Still can’t figure out Texas geography . It is very big . Sorry, geography not my strong suit .
    Figure that if I wait patiently, sooner or later something will post. I will take anything, dog photos, tree photos , any new knitting !!

  57. I also noticed something in the hidden legacy series. We aren’t sure what LInus Duncan’s powers are but I think he’s got the same power as Catalina – siren or a form of it. I noticed Nevada feeling warm and good when she’s around him AND I noticed that when Catalina showed her powers, she had a coppery metallic taste in her mouth and I noticed when she had coffee with Linus Duncan, she also has a “copper patina” taste in her mouth as well.

    Hmm.

      • I was kind of wondering if Linus was the sperm donor. I also wondered if he was once in love with Grandma Tremaine.

        • Oh that’ s a good thought! Victoria Tremaine’s sperm donor was formerly House Molpe and their Grandfather. So Linus Duncan could be their grandfather? Although, Linus Duncan is well-known so I guess maybe more people would be more aware of his family’s history and would know if he was former House Molpe….

          I’m not sure about being in love. They seemed like they had a good friendship.

      • I thought the coppery taste had to do with adrenaline, or the aftertaste of adrenaline. The use of Catalina’s power, when they’d hidden it for so long, must have had the adrenaline pumping into Nevada. Also, the coffee with Linus was right after Nevada and Leon had been attacked by a fairly large force. I think it’s more Nevada’s physical reaction than anything to do with Catalina’s or Linus’s powers. This does not, however, preclude them having the same or similar abilities.

        • That could be it but what about all the other times Nevada has an adrenaline rush? I don’t think that detail showed up but then again, could just be a coincidence and I’m reading into too much detail.

  58. Rereading Clean Sweep & Soren’s daughter is named Renadra? But in Maud’s chapter 2 part 1 she is Alvina. Sorry don’t see a way to email privately –

    • Perhaps more than one daughter? In a warrior culture, a family that doesn’t have far more than a replacement number of children quickly finds itself replaced.

    • Haha, same here. Finishing up assignments for school and can’t help but refresh this page every 10-15 minutes. I’m trying to be positive and tell myself that once this new update is posted, it won’t be that long before the next installment is also posted. Especially as each installment leaves one in such exquisite torturous anticipation. I’m so looking forward to Helen’s interactions with the vampire children and Maud’s first meeting of the Arland’s mom. Now (hopefully) there won’t be that long of a wait in between the two events!

      The authors are so incredible (and generous)! Every new update immediately captures one’s attention and completely absorbs them into the Maud’s world of mystery and intrigue, only to be left hanging minutes later (at least at the speed I read) with even more questions and an even greater desire for more.

      All hail the author lords!!

  63. Um, so the following is my way of giving support to our little Support Group. I’m sharing my thoughts in the hope that they might be helpful to some of you who keep checking back to the comments like me:

    I think… that a new installment will not be coming. Until Friday, I mean.

    Ilona wrote: “…the innkeeper, if it drops, will drop later tonight or on Saturday.”

    She said “if.”

    Since it did not drop later on Friday night, nor on Saturday, it might be… logical… to conclude that it will not drop at all now. (Again, until its regularly scheduled time this coming Friday.)

    I was kind of hoping against hope, so I kept checking, but I think it might be best to not expect it until then. I’m putting myself out of my misery, in any case. If it happens that I’m wrong, then I’ll at least be pleasantly surprised.

    (Basically, I was thinking about the fact that one definition of suffering that we induce in ourselves can be described as the gap we perceive between “What Is” (Reality) and “What Should Be” (Our Unfulfilled–and Often Unreasonable–Expectations), so I figured I’d reduce my suffering by closing that gap.)

    I think the most reasonable thing is to expect a guaranteed inkeeper chapter this coming Friday. If it arrives sooner, great. If not, I can’t be disappointed because I’m not expecting it anyway.

    (Also, fun tidbit for my fellow Support Group members: in psychology, the reason we fall prey to clicking obsessively and compulsively every however-many-minutes has to do with something called Intermittent Reinforcement. It’s kind of hardwired into our brains, and it’s one of the reasons for gambling addiction.)

    Anyway, it’s been working for me. Maybe it’ll work for you, too. ^__^

      The authors are good to us. Whatever they choose to spend their time on, they are entitled to it without any need for explanations. People should stop complaining.

    Love all the info on Linus Duncan(siren). He does seem to have powers of persuasion .
    Hopefully there will be book 4 and we will have some answers . Can’t wait for the 2 grandmothers to meet.
    The psychological reason for continued refreshing is sound and I agree. Will try to listen to my adult superego and not to my inner child.
    Will check late tonight or tomorrow.
