Post: the Pet Edition

Blog, Cats, Dogs, Writing POST A COMMENT December 22, 2025 by Ilona

Mona is home. She is recovering well.

Her main issue right now is the hygienic shave that the vet gave her. Mona can’t scratch her butt and she is not happy with that. All of us are very happy she is still with us. Many thanks to the Austin Vet ER

Noctis, the other furry member of the household, can’t understand what the big deal is.

The rest of the animals wish Mona a speedy recovery.

The Shepherds are sure Mona will be back to running around in no time. As the resident fur factories, they assure her that hair will grow back.

Rito, in particular, knows the perils of not having hair, and Charlie, as one French Bulldog to another, suggests less treats and more naps.

And that concludes are pet round up. Certain members of the HA households were excluded: Paul the Tarantula, the two lizards, and the assorted fish do not care, Thrawn the Prawn promised murder, and Batty the Outside Cat sent the following, “Dog. Pheh.”

Wow! I didn’t realize you had such a large and varied menagerie. What blessed beasts they are. So glad Mona’s doing well.

Having lost all our beasts (to old age thankfully) in 2024, I’m tempted every time I see a picture of one. I just have to keep reminding myself, “not until the renovations are done!”

Thanks for sharing your pets. Very uplifting for a stressful day.

Really glad Mona is home recovering. sick pets are very stressful. We had major vet issues from May to July. One boxer developed rapidly spreading terminal cancer, Other boxer had an ulcer on his eye which took special eye serum made from his blood (took about six weeks to clear) At the same time Doberman had massive UTI infection and was peeing all over everything beds included. I have now invested in waterproof sheets as covers on everything. If the monsters look the least little bit off I cringe right now.

Glad all furry, scaled and any other animals are healthy and happy. It’s so hard when our pets are sick or injured so I am so happy this had a positive ending. Last year we had a scare with our then 5 year old dog but I am glad to report he is healthy and happy and still here a year later!

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate and happy holidays to all!

Aww, poor Paul, always getting left out. He’s definitely got hair, so he should get to share his two cents.

FYI, I’m arachnophobic, but even I acknowledge how cool and sweet (for a huge, hairy spider) Tarantulas are.

Glad Mona is better! Did you ever figure out what caused it?

Also – comments are locked for the merchandise post, so I’m coming here to rave. I recently received my order, and it’s gorgeous. Every time I look at my stuff, my inner Gollum comes out… I had some odd questions and requests, and Amie was so helpful and accommodating despite no doubt drowning in orders. Wonderful shopping experience, 10/10.

Feel free to repeat any time hehehe

I have two American Hairless Terriers and they are my babies!! If Rito is anything like my two, he gets cold at 70 degrees and he probably enjoys basking in the sun, in the warm concrete.
