Sara T says
ha ha ha ha ha
That is not a cute kitty.
Tiger Lily says
Such a cute little kitty. S/he is going to need a sweater soon(:
Meredith says
I am so disturbed by the kitty picture. That’s it. Disturbed.
Tink says
Oh, good, I’m not the only one. “Adorable” isn’t the first (or tenth) adjective to come to mind.
Dee says
+1
Please tell me that is a naturally occurring cat and not genetically mutated by human scientists.
Katherine Meservy says
It is a natural mutation of cats to be hairless, so that part is natural but they were selectively bred to make the breed of Sphynx. They do have some health issues from selective breeding but it started as a natural mutation that some humans find adorable.
Dee says
Thanks, so interesting! ????
Pam says
I love those little jelly bean toes!
Becky says
I’m sorry, but that kitty frightens me. A lot.
Cherylanne says
Today is annoying. That cat is wonderful. Appreciated
Gailk says
I think that I prefer my kitties with fur. But I am sure her mama loves her. And I would probably put a sweater/ tee shirt on the kitten . And I do like her blue eyes and large ears.
Please, please, anyone lucky enough to go to Kisscon keep us informed about the event. We know it will be awesome and fun. But any little snippets you can tell us will be greatly appreciated.
CYNTHIA RAY says
I am going to kisscon tomorrow and I am so excited! Thank you for mentioning posting comments as that never occurred to me, but I will do my best. ????
CharisN says
Oh please do!
Teresa says
The cat is real!?! I thought it was a rendering/sneak peek of some creature for the next book.
AndrewC says
Oh gods! There is something just bad wrong with that animal. Cat?! No way. Where’s the fur?
Creepy. Disturbing. Horripilating. NIghtmarish…
I like my cats with fur on them.
Sandie says
Such tough comments on the cat lol I find them oddly cute. They certainly didn’t ask to be born without fur. Never seen one in person but every time I see them in pictures I want to pat their head and wrap them in a comfy throw.
strangejoyce says
Me, too, Sandie! Love their uniqueness. Also always feel the urge to feed them.
…jelly bean toes indeed… *giggle-snort* thanks Pam (from earlier comment), from now on that’s what I’ll be thinking whenever I see some like those. Love it!! ????
Cj says
I got to pet a Sphinx cat once. She was polite but my fingers were cold, I think.
I wanted to put a sweater on her.
Jean says
Some of the pug-nosed bat species are also “a face only their mother could love”.
Poor Boo! If that kitty was here in the Midwest, a down jacket and ski pants might be necessary! Or one of those snuggie sacks for a baby.
Susie Q. says
If you think the kitty is cute, but prefer fur, try a Devon rex. I’m on my third, they have the cute bat ears and short, wavy hair – they only have the soft inner fur, missing the satiny outer coat. Friendly, dog like in their devotion and just adorable.
Jen Twimom says
Brandi – will you also be at KissCon? I’m driving down there right now (well, my husband is driving). I’d love to say hello to you as well if you will be there. Looking forward to the entire event. Thanks!
Jean-ann Stump says
I really wish that I could go to one of the events.
And I would love a hairless cat. My youngest is extremely allergic to cats and I’m not sure if it is the hair or the dander.
kommiesmom says
As I understand it, the problem is a chemical in the cat’s saliva. The cat licks it all over its hair and the hair irritates your daughter’s allergies. (NOT a scientist here)
There are some cats that exude less of the chemical. You might be able to google “an allergy-free cat” and find out which ones. I also read a recent article about science reducing the amount of the allergens in the cat’s saliva.
I wish you good luck with your search.
OBTW- I second the thoughts on a Rex cat. They are the cuddliest cats I have ever had and feel like an old chenille bathrobe when you pet them. Very sweet and sooo soft.
Terry says
My niece is allergic to cats and tried a Sphinx. They could not even keep the cat for more than a day; despite Benadryl my niece felt like she was suffocating.
Melinda says
Hi Brandi, is Ilona going to be somewhere else in New England on Sunday 10/27? We missed today, and DE was a little too far away. It’s great they’re in the neighborhood, we don’t see them often enough up here!
Katherine Meservy says
Y’all have a wonderful time and I hope all goes off as planned. I am also hoping for a stress-free event. The kitty is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the adorableness Brandi!
